This fee is used to store your character on their server, and for server updates. Since your character is stored on their servers there can be no character hacks, and a constant changing environment since eqoa patches come out almost once a week or more. Once you have all of the requirements, set up your network adapter and follow the onscreen instructions. If you need help with connecting try going to http://www.us.playstation.com/hardware/SCPH-10281/press.html and explore there to find some support guides. After your adapter is set for the internet, launch eqoa and wait for the legal terms to come up, accept them and then go to play. Connect on to eqoa and wait while it checks/makes updates for your eqoa. After that you will be prompted to an account login screen. If you have an account type in your user name and password then login. If you do not and wish to create one, you may use a standard credit card or use a gamer card. I personally use the gamer card since you can buy them from gamestop, eb, etc. When you are done creating your account and logged in, you will be prompted to a server selection page. Select your server and go to create a new character. Create your character according to your personal taste and then log into the server, you are done with setting up eqoa and ready to play! ==================== Controls ==================== CONTROLS: Select- Changes camera mode Start- gives access to the different menus (by using the arrow keys) R1- Target NPCs (non-player characters) L1- Target Self/pet/Group members R2- Hold to toggle chat scrolling. Each race has a different starting location in Eqoa world. Here is a chart of each race and each class they can become and starting locations. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Race Classes Starting location -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Barbarian Rouge Halas Shaman Warrior Dark elf Cleric Neriak Enchanter Magician Necromancer Rogue Shadowknight Warrior Wizzard Dwarves Cleric Mordahim Paladin Rogue Warrior Elves Bard Fayspires/Tethlin Cleric Druid Enchanter Magician Paladin Rogue Warrior Erudites Cleric Highbourne Enchanter Magician Necromancer Paladin Shadowknight Wizard Gnomes Cleric Klick' Anon Enchanter Magician Necromancer Rogue Warrior Wizzard Halflings Cleric Rivervale Druid Rogue Warrior Humans of the East Bard FP/Qeynos/Surefall Cleric Enchanter Magician Necromancer Rogue Shadowknight Warrior Wizzard Humans of the West Bard FP/Qeynos/Surefall Cleric Druid Enchanter Magician Monk Paladin Ranger Rogue Warrior Wizzard Trolls Shadowknight Grobb Shaman Warrior ==================== Class Description ==================== *Note: Taken from game manual Bard- Bards are traveling musicians and scholars who seek the legends, secrets, and mysteries of the world of which they weave into glorious tales of heroes, villains, and adventure. Cleric- Clerics are servants of the divine. Within them they bear the power of their deity and often serve as healers and protectors by channeling the powers bestowed by their faith. Druid- Druids derive their magic from the forces of nature and have devoted their very lives to protecting it. Enchanter- Scholars of magic, enchanters focus on imbuing both objects and creatures with arcane properties. They are also adept at imposing the will of their minds on others. Magician- From the four primal elements to the creatures of Norrath, these masters of conjuration are peerless in their abilities to summon both servants and allies. Monk-Monks are dedicated to the discipline and unification of mind, body and spirit; effectively turning their bodies into lethal weapons. Necromancer- Necromancers are the masters of life force, controlling and fueling the essences of the undead with the corruption of the living. Paladin- Paladins are holy knights that fervently bear the most pure of righteous virtues and crusade to vanquish the corrupting darkness from Norrath Ranger- These soldiers of the wilderness are unique in their abilities with the bow and unrivaled in their keen perception. They also wield natural magics similar to that of the Druids. Rogue- Rogues live in the shadows, using cunning and stealth to accomplish their goals. Shadowknights-These dark, callous, and malevolent knights passionately wield the venomous blade of corruption in service to the most cruel and wicked of the gods. Shaman-Similar to a tribal witch doctor, shamans are usually found with the primitive races. They are connected to, and derive their power from, the unseen spirits that reside within all of Norrath Warrior-Warriors are highly trained in armed combat. They are most often found leading the charge in a headlong assault of their enemies. Wizzard-Wizards are arcane masters unrivaled in their affinity for evocation and other realms of offensive magics When creating a race you can choice female or male, they are both the same and affect appearance only. ==================== Attributes ==================== Strength- Strength is one of the key traits of tanks. Strength determines the maximum amount of damage you can do in melee. Stamina- Stamina is the other key traight a tank should focus on. Stamina increases your life points. Since there is no endurance in EQOA it will not increase anything else, but life. Agility- Agility is the character's quickness and footwork. It represents about 33% of your character's armor. Dexterity- Dex factors the maximum dmg potential you can actually do in melee combat. For spells it factors direct dmg spells. For ranged attacks it affects the maxium dmg potential. Intelligence- Intelligence factors in to calculating how likely you are to process "Proc". A spell when you have a buff on you that grants you a chance to proc. These spells have a base chance of 25% plus 1% for every 10 points of INT. Charisma- This is used as an extra in healing spells. Lets say you heal for 90 hp using a heal spell. With high charisma you may heal for 100hp or more depending on your charisma. Wisdom- Wisdom effects your max dmg in shot/throw attacks. Every 7 points in wisdom your resistances will increases by one. Depending on your class/race the amount of pwr you have is determined by two these attributes. Here is a list of what attributes are the power pool for classes/ races. Bards- Sta, agi. Clerics- Wis,Char. Druids- Dex, Wis. Enchanters-Int,Cha. Magicians- Agi,Int. Monks-Sta, Dex. Necromancers-Sta,Int. Paladins-Str,Sta. Rangers- Agi, Dex. Rogues- Agi, Dex. Shadowknights-Str,Sta. Shaman-Sta, Wis. Warrior-Str,Sta. Wizzard-Dex, Int. Now you may be wondering a little about why a spell caster will need to pump up Dex or Agi, or why a rogue is so much stronger than a warrior in damaging although a warrior increases his str a lot more then a rouge. Here is my best explanation for those reasons. Strength is the factor that determines how much MAX damage a melee attack can do. Warriors increase their str a lot more then Rouges but yet a Rouge can easily out damage a warrior, why is that? Simple, because even though a war increase his str, all that does is determine the max amount of dmg he can do. Rouges increase their dex a lot and that determines how much of their strength they can use. So basically Str determines how high your damage can go and dex determines how well you use your str. So if your str allows you to hit max of 200 dmg but your dex is pumped up, you will know how to use your strength so proficiently that you can out do your 200 max dmg and go for 300. Now for wizards you may ask why in the world do you increase dex? You don't even hit! Well the reason wizards increase dex is to increase their direct damage. What that means is basically dex is an added dmg bonus to each spell they cast. Lets say you use a lvl 20 spell and it damages for about 250 dmg. Having a high amount of dex will add some dmg to that 250 dmg so you might get a bonus of 50 dmg so your spell will actually do 300 dmg instead of 250 dmg. Wizards SHOULD NOT increase their wisdom I say. Wisdom doesn't deal with spells in EQOA, why I don't know, but I do know wisdom deals with ranged combat like bows, thrown items, etc. All wisdom would do for a wizard is increase his resistance for every 7 points of wisdom. Agility might be hard to understand on what it does, so here is an explanation of it. Agility factors your total defense, but it does not increase your ac (armor class). What agility does is help you use your ac more proficiently. Lets say you have an armor class of 300, and you would get hit for 50 dmg. Having a high agi will make it so that you know how to use your armor better and instead of 50 dmg you might only receive 35 damage, its sorta like str and dex with wars and rouges. In eqoa each class plays a specific role in partying. Some classes are meant to do lots of dmg while others are meant to tank the monsters dmg so the dmg dealers can attack since they are weaker in life. Here is a list of what classes should be what by natural skills. Tanks-Warrior, Paladins, Shadowknights Dmg dealers-Rouges, Monks, Rangers, Bards. Healers-Shamans, Clerics, Druids. Casters-Wizards, Enchanter, Magician, Necromancers. Here is a guideline to what I believe each category should do. Tanks- These classes are meant to be the guy in the frontline. They are suppose to take all the damage in the group while still attacking. Damage Dealers- These classes are meant to go all out in pure dmg. They can deal almost 2-3x as much as a tank and kill very fast. Healers- These people are meant to stay in the back so they heal the tank of the group and keep him buffed up with stat bonuses. Casters- Casters are meant to stay in the back also and launch powerful spell attacks on their enemies. While waiting for a spell to be ready they can summon pets to do dmg. ==================== Equipment ==================== Here is an explanation of the equipment in EQOA. Weapons- There are a few different types of weapons. First off there are primary and secondary weapons. Primary weapons can be equipped in the primary slot only. Secondary weapons can be equipped in either primary slot or the secondary slot. What that means is if your class can dual wield (skill at lvl 20) you can hold one primary weapon, and a secondary weapon. Doing so you can swing each weapon once. 2hd weapons can be swung twice also once you get the skill. There are different categories of weapons in EQOA. 1HP = one-hand piercing 1HB = one-hand blunt 1HS = one-hand slashing 2HB = two-hand blunt 2HP = two-hand piercing 2HS = two-hand slashing Piercing, blunt and slashing are all different types of weapons that work better on different types of monsters. Piercing weapons work the best on monsters who wear a lot of armor, because piercing weapons pierce their armor they can attack more proficiently. Blunt weapons work best on the undead creatures. Undead creatures are very flimsy and since they can operate with taking cuts to their dead corpse, you need a blunt weapon to break them apart into little pieces. Slashing weapons work the best on animals. Animals need to be tamed so they obey humans so use slashing weapons to slash at them. It might be a good idea to carry one weapon of each class of weapons. Though you might have a 200 dmg nice sword that is slashing, you might find yourself partying with a group fighting undead and a 180 blunt weapon would work much more proficiently then a slashing weapon. Experiment and try stuff until you find what works best for you. ==================== Items/Tunar ==================== In EQOA there are numerous items, some that can be bought with tunar, others must be found. Some items like food are used to restore your health points. You can find food in town shops. Once you use a food item you will be healed for a certain amount of points for a certain length of time. If you attack during the time period your item is being use, then it will cancel out the affects.(If you are getting healed by a spell then attack will not cancel the affects) Food can also be used to restore your will power, it works the same as food. Tunar is the currency in Tunaria, the continent in which you play eqoa. Tunar can be achieved in a number of ways. By fighting monsters, by selling items, and by completing certain quests. The easiest and quickest way is to kill green conned monsters and loot them, then go to town and sell what you looted. ==================== Weapon Chart ==================== =============================================================================== Weapon Name Level Required Status ================================================================================ Ahlspiees of Virture 1 2HB, 262 DMG,Pow 20,Str5, Lore Ancient Worn Branch 35 2HB, 426 DMG,Pow 64, Dex 10, Wis 10, Ar, 11, Pr 5, Dr 6 Arcanists Kris 33 1HS, 330 DMG, Pow 55, Fr 10, LR 10 Bale Bladed Staff 13 1Hb, 152 DMG Barbed Emerald Staff 34 2HB, 447 DMG, AC 40, Pow 110, Sta 25, Int 10, PR 30, DR 10 Baz Wand 10 1HB, 100 DMG, LORE Beanpole 13 2HB, 151 DMG,Pow 25, Int 5, 5 Cha Blade of Harmony 17 1HS, 227 DMG, Pow 10 LORE Blade of Rage 17 ? Pets are assigned to specific classes only and sometimes you must wait a while before you can get them. I believe necromancers start out with a pet. There are three different types of pets, familars, guardians, and full pets. Wizards get familars. Familars can only take the passive position. Mages and necromancers get full fledge pets. These pets can take any position their master orders. Enchanters get guardians, these pets can take the passive or defensive positions. Each type of pet can take a certain poisition like attacking or defending. The positions are passive, neutral, defending, and aggressive. Passive pets are used to buff the master. They will cast spells like healing, or ac bonuses according to their surrounding environment. Neutral pets stay within a radius of 40 meters of their master, attack if master or self is engaged by a monster or if the master attacks something. Defending pets stay within 10 meters of their master to protect them. They attack if the master or themselves are engaged. Aggressive pets stay within 60 meters of their master, attack if master or self is engaged, or if master attacks something. A master's pet's role is sometimes vital to a master's life or progression. If a master is being attacked and his pet is in defending position, his pet will "save" the masters life by pulling the agro monster off, this can be very helpful sometimes as I always find myself running away if a mob jumps me, a pet could distract them easily for me while I hightail it to safety. (>'.')> <('.'<) ==================== Everspeak ==================== In everquest you will notice there is a need to type fast and to abbreviate whenever possible. During the game the people of it have developed a ton of short abrv for a lot of different situations. In this section I hope to go over all of the basic and more popular abbreviations. AC- Armor Class Add- Add is a short term that means a monster is going to be added to the one you are fighting. AFK- Away from keyboard AI- Artificial intelligence AOE- Area of effect Atm- At the moment Blue- Word used to described the monsters con to you. BTM- Blue to me Btw- By the way Buff- Cast a spell that increases a persons attribute, etc Camp- This can be used to describe a camp of monsters, or it can be used as a term for staying in this area. CFH- Call for help Con- Color of the monster when you target it DD- Direct Damage Ding- Go up a level Dot- Damage over time EXP/Xp- experience points Feign Death- Spell used to fake death in order to get a mob off of you Fetcher- Term used to describe a member of the group who fetches a monster FM- Full mana Gank-Beat up GC- Guild Chat GM- Game master Greenies- Describes a group of monsters as easy GTG- Two meanings here. The game is designed and developed around mutli- players. Here is a chart of advantages/disadvantages of grouping. ============== Advantages ============== -You can kill monsters much faster. -With a good group it makes killing much easier and allows you to be able to kill much harder monsters -In a group you can get more experience points due to the experience point formula for grouping. Lets say you have 3 people in your group, you group will receive 380% of the monsters exp and split it amongst the group members evenly and according to the level. -Sometimes your group members can show you different places to gain experience that you never knew of and you can share your knowledge with them. ============== Disadvantages ============== -Good groups are hard to get -Looting is meant to be shared! Ninja looting is not appreciated and can quickly have you kicked out of a group. With those advantages/disadvantages you can see its a lot better to be in a group then not in a group. Also while in a group you should follow a set of moral rules, the rules are for your benefit and the benefit of the players you are playing with, no one likes playing with a mean player. ============== Basic Rules ============== 1. You should split loot evenly, or loot alphabetically.Don't hog all the loot. And on rare drops your group should roll on the item, the highest roller gets the item. 2. Try to be friendly with everyone in the group, sure some people might be stupid to you and act like a moron, but remember some people are new to eqoa and just need help. You will discover as you later level up that a bunch of good friends is better to have if you ever need their help, and believe me, you will. 3. If you go to a spot and there is already players there killing monsters, be nice and go to another spot if there is not enough room to split the kills. 4. NBG (Need before greed) if a rare item drops and its for healers only, give it to the healer in the group. What good is the item to you if you can't even use it? ============== Ideal Groups ============== In this section I would like to explain what kind of groups there is and what they are best at. I have created five different types of groups for different purposes, either experience in hard places, or doing easy light blue monsters. The five groups are Tank group, Killing Group, Medium Group, Wizzy Group, and the Dmg Group. Tank group consists of 3 tank type characters along with one healing character. This type of group is ideal for fighting very hard red monsters that give a TON of experience points. What the group does is go find a place with very hard to kill stuff that can almost kill anyone in about 8 hits, go there and have the healer buff everyone up. Once ready have one tank pull a monster and run to the group, once at the group everyone BOUNDS away at it using all their skills, once the guy who pulled it life is 1/3 or lower, quickly have another tank provoke/taunt that monster to attack him, have the healer heal the guy who just got attacked quickly and then after the 2nd tank's life is at 1/3, have the last tank quickly provoke the monster to attack him, follow this order and you can take down almost anything! Killing groups are MASSIVELY fast groups that are designed to fight tons of light blue monsters really fast. The group should consist of four damage dealers only (one of them a bard if possible since they have basic healing). Once you got a good group, go to a spot with a lot of light blues. Have your group pull one light blue at a time and EVERYONE pound at it really fast, the monster should drop before anyone takes more then 1/8 of their health bar. Continue to pull light blue monsters and kill them within seconds. If anyone's health gets too low just have the bard heal and continue to pound away. Medium Group is a group of one of each class of characters. The group should consist of a tank, a dmg dealer, a wiz, and a healer. This group is ideal for almost any conditions. I prefer to use these groups for yellow monsters. Go find a group of yellow monsters your group wants to experience at, have the sorc and wiz buff (if wiz can), and then have your tanker pull one monster. The tank will take all the damage while the dmg dealers pounds at him and the wizard casts spells on him, also the healer can nuke while healing (if its the right class). Wizzy Group is my FAVORITE bad arse group of all! These groups are the best if you can get one. They consist of FOUR wizards only. This group is ideal for being LOW level and taking on extremely higher lvl stuff. How this works is have your group find a place with something around 6-10 levels higher then the group, once there have everyone cast a pet. Now what you do is have a red monster attack one of your group members and the pet will jump all over it and take off agro, then have everyone else's pet jump the monster while you all cast spells. This works perfect because the pets will take all the damage while you guys work away at destroying it. Be sure to bring lots of water:-) Dmg Group is a mix between tank group and killing group. This group consists of a Tanker, two damage dealers, and a healer. This group is good for yellows and reds. Find a spot where you want to level up at and have the tanker pull a monster, the tanker will take all the hits for the group while the dmg dealers attack away at it. The healer should heal when the tankers life drops 1/2 and only after 1/2 so the monster doesn't agro the healer. Each of these groups have their strengths and weaknesses and is best at certain times and levels. Try experimenting and find the best group that works for you and your area. ==================== Guilds ==================== Guilds are basically the same thing as a clan. Guilds are a group of people who usually share a common interest and are usually friends. Guilds in EQOA can often play a vital role in the later levels. Guilds have a ranking system which I think is really cool. The lowest is member, then officer, then elder, and then master. Only a master can promote someone to elder or master, and only an elder can promote someone to an officer, officers can invite people to the guild and members can do nothing. Guilds can be joined or formed. To join a guild have someone who is in a guild that is officer+ ranking to send you an invite. To form a guild, its a little harder. You must have 3000 or 5000 tunar (I forget) and you must be the leader of a full group and everyone must not be in a guild. Like groups, guilds have many advantages with NO disadvantages. ============= Advantages ============= -Guilds will often help other fellow guild members wither they need help with a quest or they need help with items/tunar. -Guild members often share with each other great secrets, tips and leveling spots you might know about. -Guilds can team up together in a huge group and try to take on extremely strong monsters like dragons, etc. -The ONLY way to kill dragons like lady vox is with a guild of HIGH level characters hehe, she drops INCREDIBLELY UBER ITEMS. -Guilds that are extremely well off are often have a reputation after a while. Being in a bad guild might make people not want to party with you, but being in a good guild might make people want to party with you even more. So as you can see being in a guild has a lot of advantages with no disadvantages. So I suggest eventually joining or forming a guild later on in your levels, you will thank me later. ==================== Quests ==================== In this section of the guide I hope to cover all of the quests available to each and every class, but due to the fact everquest is constantly updated and changed, some quests may be removed, altered, or added. I hope this helps you all and if anyone sees any mistakes please email me them so I can correct them, thanks! ==================== Hints/Tips,Misc ==================== In this section of the guide I would like to talk about different hints/tips that will help you in eqoa. These range from good leveling up spots to quick ways of getting tunar, etc. If anyone would like to donate an idea or anything, please feel free to e-mail me. Proper credit will be given. ================ Good Exp Spots ================ -In Halas for levels 9+ cubs are nice xp and drop good drops occationally. They are to the east of halas. From Halas go directly east till you go between two guard posts, once at the river water you can go nw to reach the cubs near a tower structure. -Also near the cubs is the underwater cave which is good xp for about the same level people. To reach it, go south when you are in the river and look under the water as you travel down, eventually you will see a hole in the water and you can swim through it and end up in an underwater cave. -In Freeport there is a croc island with tamed crocs and normal crocs. The tame crocs are good to lvl up from 13-18ish. And the crocs are good for 23+ or so. (Crocs are said to drop really rare items, like vestment..but I never found one from em) To reach the crocs head out of freeport at the coach area and follow the ocean coast till you see a light house in the water, swim towards the lighthouse and continue that way till you see an island. That is croc island. -In bobble-by-water there is a nice croc isle which is usually empty from people. To reach it go to the coach and head NE towards the coast and follow it north till you see a castle out in the water, swim to it and kill the crocs here. They are good for lvl 14-20ish. -In Jared's Blight there are quite a few good places to level up. One place is bandits, to reach bandits go behind the coach and go to the river, then swim across it and go directly east. You will eventually come to a camp of bandits. This is good for leveling from 22-28, the bandits drop lots of rares! -Also in Jared's blight is Undead village. Undead village is SW from the coach. Travel along the main road south till you reach a little house with smith outside of it and go past that house on the road till it forks to the right, then continue down it and you will reach undead village. This is good for leveling from 24-30ish. -Also in Jared's blight is instant gnolls. They respawn about every 1.5 seconds, so you never have to wait for respawning and they drop decent rares. To reach it head east from the coach and go across the water, then head north along the mountains till you see an opening in the mountains, go inbetween the mountains and then head north around the turn, you will see a small cave with a blue light coming out of it. Usually there is a ton of people here so just msg them if you can't seem to find it. ================== Good Tunar methods ================== Ever need a lot of tunar for repairs (wars especially), but can't seem to rack up the tunar? Well in this part I will list some good tunar methods I found to make lots of tunar really fast. -Kill lots of light blues solo, if you can handle them. Find a place where there is lots of light blue monsters and slaughter them all. Loot everything they drop till you are full then go back to town and sell all of it, repeat as desired. -In Halas, there is a nice tunar place if you are lvl 20ish or so and would like to solo Numla. Numla is a goblin who can be located by going directly west of Halas. He is near the little icey water at a tower (Sometimes there is another monster in his place, just kill the goblin and eventually he will spawn). If you are a good damage dealer and got a few foods, you can stock up on the bags Numla drops which sell for 78 tunar a piece, easy to rack up a lot of them in just a few minutes. -Sell useless rares you have that you will not use. Sometimes you can get a lot for your rares from people. -Be a rouge and use your pickpocket ability at lvl 20 I believe. They OWN in getting tons of tunar really fast. *Note, this next method is for evil people. -Ninja loot all items that drop in your group, sure they may hate you a lot, and will probably eventually leave the group, but you are richer my friend. -Go to freeport and kill mummies in the desert near by. Take the fluid from the mummy and sell it for 1000 tunar or so. I don't really want everyone to do this method, so I will leave the details for you to figure out. ====== Hints ====== This section I will explain different hints/tips that will benefit you in EQOA. -If you are getting your arse whooped by lots of monsters, quickly hit start and go to your spells and if you have a spell to make you run fast, USE IT. Don't hesitate, I usually can run from any monster soon as my barb casts his sprint spell and I get away quick enough not to die. This method has saved me numerous times. ==================== Fishing ==================== In this section I will talk about fishing and my very limited knowledge of it. I'll try to update this section further on eventually. Fishing is a new ability recently released on EQOA servers that allows you to fish for fish obviously. When you fish you must equip a rod and some bait with it. A new ability slot will be added to your ability scroll (top right corner). Select it and go fishing in any water. When you fish, you will notice a mutli-colored bar appears and in the very center there is two lines making a small median. You have to press the X button right when its on the middle of the bar to do a perfect cast. The better the cast you do the better chance of catching a fish you will have and a better chance of catching a good fish. When you equip your rod and bait you will see it goes to your stat of fishing technique. The higher this stat is the better fish you can catch and the higher level they will be. Each location throughout EQOA has different fish in different locations. The polor regions seem to have more polar fish then Freeport does. There is different types of rods/baits you can equip and use. You can get different rods/baits from different tackle men in each starting city. Talk the tackle man and you can buy a rod and bait. The rods and baits have different levels needed to equip them. Again, better the rod/bait the better fish you shall catch. Also you can catch more then just fish, sometimes you can catch some weird, misc items. One of them being a message in a bottle...maybe pertaining to a quest? No one knows yet. The fish you catch can be used as food. Its cheaper in the long run if you go out fishing and catch your food then buying it, but its a little time consuming. Fish can also be used to give temporarely stat bonuses. Some fish can give you increased dex or agi (never found those fish yet). So fishing is quite useful if you are trying to solo level up and don't want to keep running to town for food and stuff. I will eventually put a fishing chart with rods/baits up soon as I record enough of that data. ==================== Spell/Abilities ==================== Warrior Spells/Abilities =========================================================================================== Spell Name Level Needed PWR Cost Spell Effect =========================================================================================== Return Home 01 25 Returns you to the last place you binded Quick Strike 01 8 Does a quick strike attack Fortitude 01 6 Raises Stam Kick 03 23 Does an extra kick attack Concentration 04 24 Raises Dex Tough Skin 04 24 Increases AC of the caster Taunt 05 19 Baits monster to attack you Furious Def 07 42 Trade STR for AGI Call to Action 08 96 Increases group's HP Sprint 08 48 Run Faster Attention 12 72 Increases Dex Elemental Toughness 12 72 Raises elemental resists Rapid Strike 13 98 Performs an extra swing attack Stomp 15 113 Performs an extra kick attack Call to Arms 16 192 Increases group's HP Dash 16 96 Run Faster Bellow 20 120 Increases HP Critical Strike 20 150 Performs an critical strike attack Iron Will 20 240 Increases group's AC Call to Combat 24 Provoke 24 Critical Assault 29 Iron Resolve 29 Bait 34 Focus 39 Critical Barrage 39 Call to War 44 Incite 44 Critical Flurry 49 Focused Attention 49 ==================== Patch History ==================== In this section of the guide I would like to go ahead and put patch information up. Also please notice the beauty of EQOA as the patch history shows that the game will never stay the same, always a changing environment with many new quests added and other fun stuff. :-) April 27, 2003 ============== Quest Updates ============== An aging archeologist seeks able bodied adventurers, level 23 and over, to assist with research in the commonlands north of Freeport. ================ Creature Updates ================ All creatures that were previously immune to charm spells and could see through invisibility are now immune to Root and Snare spell effects. This change was important to maintain the intended difficulty of casting and boss type monsters. Please be aware of this change in your travels. ================ Coachman Updates ================ We have updated several chat messages from Coachmen to better reflect why they will not allow you to travel on a particular route. The Coachmen system has always been sensitive to your faction and would not allow you to journey to a destination where you were not liked. This was to prevent you from coaching and dying immediately upon arriving from nearby guards or other NPCs. We updated messages for coaching at Zentar's Keep, Wyndhaven, Highborne, Castle Lightwolf, Murnf, Surefall Glades and Honjour to better reflect this in their dialogs. Additionally, faction was added for the Last Inn Coachman in Mt. Hatespike. This will affect some good races that are hated in the area who were previously able to sign the ledger. ================================ Damage Shields and Reverse Procs ================================ The changes to damage shield effects introduced on 4/16 were unforeseen and not intended. We plan to return them to activate every time a player is struck. Additionally, some items have a defensive proc attached, Splendor for example. The procs on these items currently activate each time the player is struck. They shouldn't. The intention is to have these effects only activate some of the time. We hope to have them on Live servers as soon as possible and will notify you here when they go in. ============= Item Updates ============== Updated Siliskor's shield to include ac. ============== Spell Updates ============== Paladin, Shadowknight, and Warrior ability scrolls have been updated with new descriptions that better explain the function of each ability. Q: What class/race is the best to play as? A: Well there is really no best class/race to play as, all the characters I view are equal in their own ways. But I suggest playing as a warrior/barbarian, and Necro/human of the east. The warrior/barbarian is good because his starting city has lots of monsters to choice from for leveling and he is a tanker class and can take a lot of damage before needing health. The necromancer is good because he spawns in freeport and he will eventually get to do one more extra level 17 quest because of his alignment to humans then the other evil races get to do. Also necromancers are very good as they get better pets. Q: Can I put characters from one account to another? A: No. Once you start an account all the characters on that account must stay on that account, you can not change their location on accounts. Q: Can you switch what server your character plays on? A: No you can't. Once you start a character on a server it must remain there forever unless you delete him. Q: I mistakenly deleted my character, help! A: Well there isn't much you can do if your character gets deleted, but I suggest calling EQOA staff (get their number from the game by going to support when logging on) and asking if they could replace your character. I believe they could and would if only a few hours or a day or so passed. Q: What stat do I increase for ? A: Here is a list of what you should raise for each character. Bards- Sta, agi. Clerics- Wis,Char. Druids- Dex, Wis. Enchanters-Int,Cha. Magicians- Agi,Int. Monks-Sta, Dex. Necromancers-Sta,Int. Paladins-Str,Sta. Rangers- Agi, Dex. Rogues- Agi, Dex. Shadowknights-Str,Sta. Shaman-Sta, Wis. Warrior-Str,Sta. Wizzard-Dex, Int. Q: I hear a lot of rumors about a pvp (player vs. player) server coming out, do you know if this is true? A: I do not know if its absolutely true, but I do believe EQOA staff are working on a server right now just for pvp. I do believe it will be out in summer sometime maybe or in this year at least 2003. Again, this is just my assumptions. Q: Do I ever run out of energy while I'm running? A: No, you do not have a stamina bar in this game. You can run for all eternity and never tire! Q: Is there any way to increase your running speed? A: Yes there is, there are a few spells that will increase your running speed for a short amount of time. The shaman's spirit of the wolf is by far the best spell for running fast. All the spells allow you to run the same speed, but SOW lasts the longest. Q: Keyboards, which ones can I use for my ps2? A: I believe any usb port keyboard can be used with your ps2. I have tried a few different ones I bought for my computer and they all seem to work just fine. Q: What are those bars on the top left corner of my screen? A: The red one is your hp bar. It tells you the remaining about of hp you have. The blue one is your power bar. It shows how much remaining power you need. The orange/yellow bar tells you how far along your experience you are. It takes 5 orange bars for a level. The pink bar shows how far along you are to complete an orange bar. Q: Have you wrote any other faqs? A: Nope, thinking of taking another one up for summer though. ==================== Special Thanks ==================== I would like to give special thanks to the following people Jason,Joey,Jeff,Rob, Mark, and last but not least, Phil.
