INTRODUCTION - G0400 =============================================================================== =============================================================================== Hello! I am Damir Kolar and I welcome you to another of my FFXII projects. In this guide I hope to compile together information on all things (items, equips, scenes, etc.) that you can miss or are forced to give away at some point in the game. Since I know how frustrating it can be to miss something permanently, I hope this guide will be of assistance to you. With this I present to thee... Final Fantasy XII - Missables Guide! =============================================================================== =============================================================================== 05.) MISSABLE THINGS - G0500 =============================================================================== =============================================================================== This is a list of (hopefully) all things in the game that: a) you can permanently miss once you're past a certain point of the game b) you're FORCED TO GIVE AWAY (so-called forced missables) in order for you to be able to progress with the game or subquest 01. Mythril Blade & Mythril Sword - do not sell these two pieces of equipments - if by any chance you do sell them, Omega Mark XII very rarely drops Mythril Sword - there is no way to obtain second copy of Mythril Blade 02. Missable scene at start of game after killing the three rats - when Vaan and Kytes walk out of Garamsythe Waterway, head towards Muthru Bazaar - you must do this before talking to Migelo - Vaan will comment about 'making himself scarce' in relation to the Imperial he stole money from - credit: flak76e 03. Small Package - When you're to hunt for Rogue Tomato, head for [Rabanastre / Southern Plaza] and look for bangaa talking to Imperial. Have a chat with this chap and he will ask you to deliver something to his friend outside East Gate. Agree to help him and you get Small Package (loot item). Now you can either sell that for 150 gil, or be a nice person and take it to bangaa's friend (but you don't get any reward for doing so). - so if you want to keep Small Package in inventory, don't give it away 04. Getting back in Rabanastre during Rogue Tomato hunt - if for whatever reason you need to go back in Rabanastre before killing Rogue Tomato, stand in either of the two lines by talking to the 'Queue Watch'; wait patiently until the line clears and when asked if you want to enter, say yes 05. "Getting chewed" scenes - during battle with Air Cutter Remora, turn around and try to run away to [Nalbina Fortress / Aerial Gardens] - after Migelo asks you to find Kytes, take a detour to [Rabanastre / Southern Plaza] - after Masyua in [Giza Plains / Nomad Village] tells you to find Jinn for her, exit the village towards N - while doing storyline events in Archades and Bal asks Vaan to collect Pinewood Chops, turn around and return to Old Archades - credit: Brady's guide 06. Dalan's advice - depending on your point in storyline, Dalan may have some advice for you #1 after coming back to Rabanastre from Rogue Tomato hunt #2 after getting Sunstone #3 after Barheim Passage ordeals #4 after Sword of the Order is given to Azelas #5 after Bal and Fran join in Rabanastre's Sandsea #6 after escaping from Leviathan #7 after nabbing Dawn Shard #8 after Larsa joins in Jahara #9 after getting to Mt Bur-Omisace #10 after plastering boss in Mt Bur-Omisace #11 after Draklor Laboratory #12 after nabbing Treaty-Blade #13 after appearance of Bahamut - credit: Brady's guide 07. "The Stories Kid" - depending on your point in storyline, the kid's story will evolve - he's found in [Rabanastre / East End] #1 after you have control of Vaan for first time #2 after coming back to Rabanastre from Rogue Tomato hunt #3 after Barheim Passage ordeals #4 after nabbing Dawn Shard #5 after Draklor Laboratory - credit: Brady's guide 08. People in [Dalmasca Estersand / Outpost] - depending on where you are in the story, you can find different people trekking thru [Outpost] on their way wherever #1 before plastering Rogue Tomato #2 after plastering Rogue Tomato #3 before obtaining Dawn Shard #4 after obtaining Dawn Shard #5 after plastering boss of Mt Bur-Omisace #6 after clearing Pharos - credit: Brady's guide 09. Kytes, Filo and Deeg - these children will form a group called Buccaneer's Battalion, and their 'enthusiasm' depends on where you are in the story and what optional quests you did - they can be found within [Lowtown / North Sprawl] inside the residence - plaster Wraith mark as soon as possible in the game - return for update after finishing storyline events in Archades - return for update after getting rid of Roh'kenmou in Dalan's by gathering all medallion pieces for no mou - return for update after getting rid of Roh'kenmu in Charlotte's Magickery in Archades by collecting the medallion for no mou - credit: Brady's guide 10. Traveler's family blah-blah - the family of the same kid who's petitioner for Deathgaze hunt will have different convos depending on where you are storywise - to get the conversation, just talk to them inside aerodromes #1 after Barheim Passage ordeals #2 after nabbing Dawn Shard (3 different scenes) #3 after plastering boss of Mt Bur-Omisace - credit: Brady's guide 11. Party-leader-affects-scenes #1 [Garamsythe Waterway / East Spur Stairs] - when Fran and Balthier join your party for the first time and after you're given the tutorial on gambits, examine 'Fallen Soldiers' nearby for a minor scene - scene varies depending on who the current leader is (3 total) - credit: KADFC #2 [Phon Coast / Rava's Pass] - talk to 'Viera Wayfarer' with Fran as leader, then switch to different leader (2 different scenes in total) - credit: Brady's guide #3 [Giza Plains / Crystal Glade] - talk to 'Viera Wayfarer' with Fran as leader, then switch to different leader (2 different scenes in total) - she's gone after plastering Gil Snapper - credit: Brady's guide #4 [Henne Mines / Pithead Junction A] - talk to 'Wounded Imperial' with Fran as leader, then switch to different leader (2 different scenes in total) - he is gone after defeating Tiamat - credit: Brady's guide 12. Missable scene in front of Barheim Passage - before you depart for Rabanastre Palace dungeon, go to [Dalmasca Estersand / Passage Entrance] - get close to Shifty Seeq and Bumbly Seeq to trigger a short scene - scene is missed after escaping from Barheim Passage - credit: silentexistence 13. Missable Fran/Balthier scene after Barheim Passage - after you escape from Barheim Passage and return to Rabanastre, your party disbands - go to tavern Sandsea and ascend the stairs to find Balthier and Fran - a short scene will follow - the chance to see this scene expires after you deliver Sword of the Order - credit: Bx.C 14. Jovial Seeq - if you visit this seeq in [Rabanastre / Lowtown] after escaping from Barheim Passage, but before plastering Wraith mark, he isn't laughing - credit: Brady's guide 15. Ba'Gamnan scene in Lhusu Mines - when doing storyline battle against Ba'Gamnan and his sidekicks, defeat all of them to see a scene where Ba'Gamnan runs away (scene A) - if you run away from him and make it all the way to [Lhusu Mines / Shaft Entry], you will get scene B - credit: MrHangman 16. Pilika's diary scene - after defeating Rocktoise and getting reward from Pilika, talk to her again to embark on a quest to retrieve her diary - when you find it, choose to read it 17. Bhujerban Madhu - In Bhujerba there are six sections of the city, and eight places you can enter for a total of 14. In each of these you can find 'Bottle of Spirits', which is Bhujerban Madhu liquor. Find all 14, and then don't sell them if you want to keep them in your inventory - on the other hand, by keeping them you get to miss on 14 possible scenes of how do Bhujerbans take to the liquor, getting smashed and everything (I would recommend that you save your game, see different scenes, and then reload) 18. Migelo's worries - after you gain all party members permanently, go talk to Migelo - there's two different scenes #1 if you have obtained Dawn Shard #2 if you don't have Dawn Shard yet - credit: Brady's guide 19. Slime Oil - one Slime Oil can be received from footracing in Balfonheim by winning tier 90 (out of total 100) - you can steal Slime Oil from Orthros - Slime Oil is used in only one recipe, for which you need one Slime Oil, so that means you only need one extra 20. Semclam Shell, Nebralim, Valeblossom Dew, Great Serpentskin - each of these items is connected do Desert Patient Quest - after you give Cactus Flower to Dantro's wife, she'll ask for some Semclam Shells - 2 found in [Dalmasca Estersand / South Bank Village] - 3 found in [Dalmasca Estersand / Banks of the Nebra] - if you sell all of them, return to [Banks of the Nebra] and look for Semclam Shells again - you need to give her at least one to progress to next step - after you give her at least one Semclam Shell, she'll ask for some Nebralim - 2 found in [Dalmasca Estersand / Outpost] - if you sell all of them, return to [Outpost] and look for Nebralim again - you need to give her at least one to progress to next step - after you give her at least one Nebralim, she'll ask for some Valeblossom Dew - 3 found in [Dalmasca Estersand / Broken Sands] - if you sell all of them, return to [Broken Sands] and look for Valeblossom Dew again - you need to give her at least one to progress to next step - after you give her at least one Valeblossom Dew, and assuming Great Serpentskin is in your inventory, she'll ask if you're willing to part with it - decline her request, exit and reenter the village, talk to her again and then talk with patient behind her house to complete the quest - so of all the four items, Great Serpentskin is the only one you can keep until the end of game - you cannot pick up additional copies of other three items, for example: you pick up one Semclam Shell in the village and leave the other one, then you talk to wife - she takes the Semclam Shell from you, requests Nebralim... you won't be able to collect that Semclam Shell you left, because it has disappeared (same applies for Nebralim and Valeblossom Dew) 21. Missable scene when fighting Zalera in Barheim Passage - after you get Barheim Key, make your way to Zalera - during battle you're given 5 minutes time limit in which you have to defeat the esper - wait for time limit to expire and you'll be thrust out of battle back into [Barheim Passage / Terminus No. 7 Adjunct] - you'll witness a scene - the chance to see this scene expires if you defeat Zalera - credit: Liu Domi 22. Missable scene with Earth Tyrant quest - enter [Dalmasca Westersand / Wyrm's Nest] before starting the quest - the chance to see this scene expires after you collect the Wind Globe - credit: flak76e 23. July subquest - becomes available after getting Dawn Shard - complete the first events in Nalbina BEFORE you reach Mosphoran Highwaste - if you don't complete the first events in Nalbina, quest is "lost" after you defeat the boss of Mt Bur-Omisace, meaning you also fail in two scenes associated with the quest (one scene in Nalbina, the other in Archades) - can complete it after you gain access to Archades - the reward for quest is Salamand Halcyon, which you can otherwise get from Salamand Entite (steal or drop) 24. Missable scene when entering Nalbina Town from Mosphoran Highwaste before defeating Judge Master B. in Mt Bur-Omisace - you must do this before you help July - enter Nalbina from Mosphoran Highwaste and the two guards (Gibbs and Deweg) will ask you how did you manage to survive in there, and just how the heck did you enter it - you're offered two choices when answering the question - credit: B. B. 25. Ktjn's sidequest - depending on amount of points you score when answering her questions she can be found in seven different parts of Rabanastre #1 inside Clan Hall (+4 pts) #2 in front of entrance to Clan Hall (+3 pts) #3 various parts of Rabanastre (pts range from -2 to +2)*3 - one of dead ends in [Muthru Bazaar] - in front of aerodrome - near the entrance to Yamoora's Gambits - W part of [East End], close to [Muthru Bazaar] #4 inside Migelo's Sundries (-3 pts) #5 in fronto of Migelo's Sundries (-4 pts) - it would take a lot of patience and replays to get all of those scenes, so don't ask me what she says in them - additionally, if you get her to stand in front of Clan Hall, you're able to talk to her directly; don't get inside Clan Hall until after plastering boss of Mt Bur-Omisace and finishing Ktjn's quest, and the lines you usually hear from 'Conspicuous Bangaa' will be said by Ktjn - credit: Brady's guide 26. Jinn in Rabanastre - when the storyline unfolds far enough that Giza Plains gets the Rain, seek out Jinn in [Rabanastre / Southern Plaza] - he can be found pacing near the fountain - no longer to be found here after weather rotation starts - credit: Brady's guide 27. Travelers in Giza Plains - when the storyline unfolds far enough that Giza Plains gets the Rain, go to [Giza Plains / Nomad Village] - you'll find a couple of travelers close to SCR - no longer to be found here after weather rotation starts - credit: Brady's guide 28. Sadeen's end - after returning Ring of the Toad to nomad's elder, return to [Giza Plains / Nomad Village] during the Rains and talk to Sadeen to give him the rest he seeks 29. Supinelu sucks - when you're going thru Ozmone Plain looking for Jahara, you'll eventually run into a garif picking on a chocobo - if this garif doesn't die by the time you reach Jahara, Supinelu will use scene A - if this garif croaks by the time you reach Jahara, Supinelu will use scene B 30. Jaya Stick - when you get to Jahara, talk to garifs until you get Jaya Stick from high-chief Zayalu in [Jahara / Lull of the Land] - take it to W exit and talk to Supinelu, one of the warriors there - choose first option twice to be allowed to see the elder in (note that by doing this Jaya Stick is taken from your inventory - you can't keep Jaya Stick, because for as long as you have it, Supinelu will keep asking about it, not letting you pass - you can sell it for 500 gil - if you gave Jaya Stick to Supinelu, you will eventually get Bowgun and Onion Bolts - if you sold Jaya Stick, then you will obtain Killer Bow and Onion Arrows 31. Missable scene with Judges in Jahara - if you return to Jahara after visiting Eruyt Village for the first time and talking to Jote, you will find Judge Hausen near Supinelu in [Jahara / Lull of the Land] - talk to him and he gives you 3x Hi-Potion and Ether - the chance to see this scene expires after completing Henne Mines storyline events - credit: Jason P. 32. Tetran's demise? - first time you meet Tetran is on Leviathan; you can decide to open the cell he's trapped in and talk to him or ignore him totally - if you didn't talk to Tetran, then he uses response A when you get to Eruyt Village - if you did talk to Tetran, then he uses response B when you get to Eruyt Eruyt - credit: Brady's guide 63. Does Ba'Gamnan look rather careworn? - When hunting for Belito, go to the dead-end area in the Nam-Yensa Sandsea via Zertinan Caverns (where you fought Adrammelech) - Get close to Monid - A short scene will play in which Ba'Gamnan appears - If Balthier is in your party of three, or if you have a party of less than three people (automatically adding Balthier), then it will show scene A - If you have a full party, and Balthier is not in it, it will show scene B - Credit: J. Morton 34. Gurdy's inquiry - if by the time you're to leave Jahara for Eruyt Village you've never ridden chocos, decline the free offer Supinelu made as well - when you reach [Mt Bur-Omisace / Temple Grounds], Gurdy will ask you why do you keep avoiding chocobos - credit: Brady's guide 35. Thick Mist - if you try going south from the SCR area in Feywood before you're supposed to, you won't be able to do that (it will say something like "The mist is too thick" and you'll have to turn back) - the chance to see this scene expires after you finish the events at Draklor Laboratory 36. "Where's Gurdy?" mystery in Mt Bur-Omisace - after defeating Mateus, but before defeating the boss of Mt Bur-Omisace, stop for a while in [Mt Bur-Omisace / Sand-strewn Pass] - rotate your camera so that you spot Gurdy somewhere high in the air - credit: Brady's guide 37. Missable chocobo scenes #1 Scene A (after plastering boss of Mt Bur-Omisace) - take a chocobo from Mosphoran Highwaste and ride it all the way to [Phon Coast / Pora-Pora Sands] - along N edge of the area you can find choco tracks, but 'Game Hunter' will not permit you to pass until you get to [Hunters' Camp] #2 Scene B (after seeing storyline events in [Phon Coast / Hunters' Camp]) - take a chocobo and ride it towards Tchita Uplands - in Tchita Uplands go all the way W until you end up in [Tchita Uplands / The Shaded Path] - talk to 'Game Hunter' standing near debris, then ascend the debris and you'll be able to enter Cerobi Steppe #3 Scene C (after seeing storyline events in [Phon Coast / Hunters' Camp]) - complete directions given for scene B - in Cerobi Steppe make it all the way SW until you enter Balfonheim - in [Balfonheim Port / Sea Breeze Lane] you can talk to few people (you cannot enter other areas of Balfonheim yet) - simply use Gate Crystal to return to [Phon Coast / Hunters' Camp] - credit: KADFC 38. Storyline scenes in Necrohol of Nabudis and Nabreus Deadlands - before you set foot into Archades, visit Necrohol of Nabudis for a missable storyline scene - before you set foot into Archades, visit Nabreus Deadlands for a missable storyline scene 39. Zodiac Spear - treasures you must NOT obtain are (contents is listed assuming you don't wear Diamond Armlet): #1 treasure in front of Dalan's house in Rabanastre Lowtown (contains up to 100 gil, Potion or Eye Drops) #2 treasure in SE corner of Cellars in Royal Palace of Rabanastre (contains Elixir) #3 avoid the treasure in Confiscatory in Nalbina Dungeons (contains 316 gil) #4 stay away from treasure among 4x4 pot grid on the Vaddu Strand in Phon Coast (contains 2000 gil, or Knot of Rust) - if you poke any of above four treasures, you can kiss Zodiac Spear in [Necrohol of Nabudis / Cloister of the Highborn] goodbye - there is one more chance for your Zodiac Spear, a mere 0,1% treasure pot in [Henne Mines / Phase 2 Dig] - whatever the outcome, Zodiac Spear IS NOT WORTHY to restart the game for 40. Rimzat's woes and worries - after you defeat Earth Tyrant, you can find Rimzat in [Phon Coast / Hunters' Camp] - talk to him for some more follow-up on the aftermath of Email Tyrant's purification (yes, I spoofed its name on purpose) 41. Five Mandragoras in Sochen Cave Palace - depending on who is the last vegetable you defeat, scenes will differ sligthly - there's five scenes in total 42. T. 44. Teleport Stone woes - warp to Archades via GCR and talk to 'Prideful Boy' in [Archades / Tsenoble] nearby to get chewed out for using warping - J. Morton reports that chewing also happens if you load the game which was saved at that particular GCR and then talking to the boy 45. Draklor Laboratory scenes - when you first enter it on 66th floor and walk to the west, there is a small scene where the camera shows the dead Imperials - scene is different depending who your party leader is - 6 possible scenes in total - credit: Bjarne B. 46. Omega Badge, Godslayer's Badge, Lu Shang's Badge - these loot items must be sold in order to obtain Wyrmhero Blade 57. Centurio Hero's Badge - get from Montblanc after you achieve Order of Ambrosia clan rank - make sure you don't sell it, as you gain nothing for it, and it sells for 0 gil 58. Victory celebrations - sometimes when you defeat a particularly difficult foe, a message showing "Congratulations" will appear on screen - meanwhile your chrs may perform victory celebrations with whatever weapon they were holding at the time that foe was defeated - same class of weapon will have same victory celebration, ie Tournesol's dance will be the same as Save the Queen's - if you always use same characters with same weapons, and you've already killed all foes that have "Congratulations" screen, then you will have missed out on victory celebrations of other chrs using different weapns 60.
