Game summary----- ------------------------- Flower, Sun, and Rain is the story of Mondo Sumio. Sumio is a "Searcher", who along with his "partner" Katharine travel to the tropical island of Lospass and the Flower, Sun, and Rain, an old-fashioned hotel which stands as the focal point of the island. As Sumio's days go on, mysteries become larger and conspiracies are revealed. As a tradtional adventure game, FSR is reliant on investigation and talking, with no possibility of a game over. -------------------------------------------------------FSR--------------------- -------------------- -----II. Saving----- -------------------- After completing a day, Ed's HELLO! MEMORY CARD screen will appear with a little retelling of the day's events. Press O and you'll be brought to the save menu where you can either save, quit or go on to the next day. Selecting save will go to confirmation, where you can press O to begin saving. When the "saving" message changes and you can see the X button graphic, that means it's done, so press X to go back to the menu where you can continue on or quit for now. Every time you start the game again, the memory card screen will come up before anything begins. Just press X to pass this without worry. Unfortunately there is only one slot to save your FSR progress in, so if you plan to start a new game you will have to save over your previous game. However you are free to replay days in the "Request" menu at the title screen. -------------------------------------------------------FSR--------------------- ------------------------------ -----III. Using Katharine----- ------------------------------ Mondo's "partner" Katharine is the odd device in his metal briefcase. Katharine consists of three parts that you will need to advance through the game with: ### Jack Control ### (erroneously called "juck" throughout the game, and I'll be a doof and call it that too from now on) Jack-in to the object/person/whatever that you're trying to crack. Virtually no mental strength is needed here, just select from the colored ports on the Juck panel until one of the wires eventually connects. ### Dial Control ### A number-input system. Finding the right number combination to put in the Dial is pertinent for moving on. Select from numbers 0-9. When asked for your final answer, just hit Circle again. If you get a "HIT", you can pass. If you get "BLANK", you'll have to start over. ### Guidebook ### The guidebook for the Lospass and the Hotel FSR. Skim its pages to find hints to the right Dial number you need to put in. The background will pulse a green "HINT" sign if you stumble across the right page. Then deciper the numbers found on the page and put them in the Dial. -------------------------------------------------------FSR--------------------- ------------------------- -----IV. Walkthrough----- ------------------------- This walkthrough has been kept as spoiler-free as possible, with minimal details regarding story. ################################################ #### R-00 #### #### ---------- #### #### Welcome to the "Flower, Sun, and Rain" #### ################################################ After viewing some cutscenes and learning a thing or two about our hero Mondo, you'll eventually take control of him as he skids into the parking lot. From there, run all the way to the other end of the lot and cross the road to the other side and talk to the guy standing next to the semi truck. This is Peter. You'll know when to talk to people or check things out when they pulse green and red. After the lengthy conversation, talk to Peter a second time. Continue until you jump into your first opportunity to use Katharine. * Katharine Point! ************* * Peter -Eye- ******************************** * Juck: Dark green port (Type C) * Dial: (You can input any four numbers here. These numbers will represent Mondo's birthday. You will need to use them again in the future, so for easy remembering you could put in your own birthday, or hell, four 0's if you wanted to.) ******************************** After that, go over to the closed gate and inspect the panel on the left statue. * Katharine Point! ************* * Stone Statue -Baby Type- ******************************** * Juck: Light Blue (D) * Dial: (Mondo's birthday in reverse. For example, if you put in 0621 on Peter, you will put 1260 here.) ******************************** Now that the gate's open, Peter will offer you a lift to the hotel. Once he drops you off and you say your goodbyes, run down the path to the entrance to the hotel. Talk to the doorman, Rock at the front and head inside. In the lobby, head to Mondo's right and talk to the man at the desk, general manager Ed Macalister. He'll give you the guidebook, then lead you to your room, talking all the while. Flip through the dialogue then watch the fun intro movie. So ends R-00. ####################### #### R-01 #### #### ---------- #### #### Gymnopédie #1 #### ####################### Mondo wakes up in his room to a phone call from Ed. From the room, walk out and down to the second door. It's locked, so go back to the room. Suddenly it's transformed somehow. Walk to the other end of the room and the picture on the wall will fall off, revealing a peephole. Go look through the peephole and meet the hotel maids. After that, go over by the door and check out the camera stand. Then go look at the chair that it's pointed at (it won't be pulsing like usual, though). Go back to the peephole and talk to Sue the maid again. Then back to look at the camera, then back to the chair, then once more to the peephole. Once in control of Mondo, again go to the phone and answer it. You'll talk to Ed, then Stefan. Afterwards, exit the room. Once out, head down the hall and turn left at the first crossway. Then enter the double-doors to the stairway. Talk to Mati the maid, then go up the ascending stairway. On the next floor, turn the corner into the long hall and open the door at the end. Run up the stairs and you've made it to the roof. Run out and the phone behind the door will ring. Answer it and talk to Stephan. Then run over to the lady in the beach chair, Yayoi, and talk to her. Finish up and go into the little lounge next door and talk to Ed behind the counter. Go back to talk to Yayoi, then to Ed again, then Yayoi one last time. Now go back to the 4th floor and find Stefan's room, 404. Once past the bell gate, head down the right side of the road, past the lighthouse and over the drawbridge to go to the shopping center. Once inside the center, walk (don't run; use the d-pad) to either the far left or far right corner of the room to find Step. After all the talking, you're done. ##################################### #### R-13 #### #### ---------- #### #### La fille aux cheveux de lin #### ##################################### As Remy, leave the roof and go leave the hotel through the front. Talk to Mati at the bridge. After that, go all the way to the beach and head to Eleki Island. Once on the island, go inside the electrical building. Inside, go to the far left of the room and up the stairs to the second floor. Flip the switch in the corner of the room. Go back to the ground floor and inspect the hole next to the stairway; it will take you underground. Once underground, go and check out the valve in the middle of the room. Then go around it and into the back room. In the void, run straight until you reach the number panels. You need to shoot the red numbers on the big panel that correspond to the equation behind you. Keep running straight through the hallway, hugging the right wall until one of the panels lights up. Check it and do the same thing on the left side. Continue on the right again, check the panel, then head to the other end of the hall (the all-black door), turn around, go the other way on the left for the panel there, then continue to the other end of the hall, turn around and keep on the left side. If you discover your clone in the panel, you're done and the all-black door should now be pulsing. Then go to the entrance to the shopping center and speak to Koshimizu. After that, keep going down the road. You'll eventually meet up with an old guy, Takaoka. After talking, run past him down the path and you should spot Katharine in the middle of the road. Pick 'er up and go talk to Takaoka again. Now you'll have to go all the freaking way back to the hotel and talk to Ed at the front desk again. After that, go to room 408 and speak to the woman, Natsuko. At the airport, investigate the android bombs. You'll be presented with a series of random math problems from here on that will be shown on the androids' body. They're easy if you have a calcuator handy, and the game will keep showing the numbers. You insert the answer into the Dial on Katharine. * Katharine Point! ************* * Airportman -Eye- ******************************** * Juck: Green (C) Sure it's easy, but you have to do this to about 7 androids scattered on each floor. The best sequence is to start on the entrance, then go in through the door (2nd floor), clear that out, go to the third floor through the elevator, finish there, then finally the first. That was stupid, but you're in the home stretch now. Anyway, once you're all done (the game will let you know), go through the No. 2 gate on the 1st floor, through the security gate, then go around and find the right toilet that Mondo is looking for. Then go past that, find Gate 2 and talk to the two attendants blocking it. Then go back to the men's bathroom where you can now go in. Check out the one stall that pulses. After that, head back to Gate 2 and talk to the attendants. The game will switch to Toriko. Take her to Gate 2.
