Credit -------------------------- || || || Introduction || || || -------------------------- Alchemy? Alchemy in our world was technically a philosophical art of being able to convert certain items of mass into other items of mass (like turning lead into gold). The game Haunting Ground (Demento) has extensive use of the history of alchemy within the game... and one of the best ways to survive in the game can be through the alchemy system within the game. Within the game are these little areas called the Alchemy Room where you, the protagonist, may enter to find yourself stocking up on needed healing items and attack items and even the ever-precious equipment. The alchemy machine is located far back in the room, in the corner of it. When choosing to use it, the player finds him/herself on a new screen displaying a number of circular slots connected to other circular slots and an option to choose medallions the player may have collected by this point in the game. By using medallions, the player will be able to play a roulette type game in which colors will rotate at high speeds and the player will press X to stop the color. The general idea is that the more of the same colors are on the board, more "connections" are made and better items are awarded to the player for doing so. -------------------------- || || || The Grid || || || -------------------------- What is that thing? The board that is displayed on the alchemy machine is known in history as a body of "sephiroths". No, silly, this isn't a reference to Final Fantasy VII. On a quick note, the sephiroths are ten attributes that God made to manifest himself. This was founded in Judaism and it has been popularly used by many games and animes. True to what the sephiroths are, there are ten spherical slots in the game with 22 lines connecting the spheres. O / | \ O--+--O |\ | /| O-\+/-O |\_O_/| |/ | \| O--+--O \\_|_// \ O / \|/ O When a medallion is chosen, the roulette will start from the centermost slot, move up to the topmost slot, and then zig-zag from there down. -------------------------- || || || What does it do? || || How does it work? || || || -------------------------- Good question. Obviously, you will get items out of this thing if you're lucky. And if you're reading this, you may have already found out that those pesky gray spheres do NOTHING for you. This machine, if you didn't know, will give you usable items for you should you give it enough of the right colors to give you. However, it's really the connections that will grant you items. The types of items you can get vary from consummables (positive AND negative), attack items (placables, throwables), and the ever-prized equipment (even those fairy earrings you don't really need to work for). But how does it work, you ask? When you choose a medallion, the roulette starts. Sphere possibilities of Gray, White, Red, Green, Blue, and Gold will flash in a place until you press X to stop it or it stops it for you. If you're lucky enough to have a few of the same colors appear, you will have them be connected. Exceptions to this is when there is a gray sphere blocking the pathway. The more conncected spheres there are, the 'better' items you get. The number of items you get depend on the number of links. 1-3 links you get 1 copy of the randomly selected item, 4-5 links, nets 2 items, 6-7 links get 3 items and 8+ links get you 4 items. -------------------------- || || || The Medallions || || || -------------------------- There are different medallions to be found throughout the game and some can even be made through the alchemy machine. The different types of medallions have different chances of certain colors appearing. Medallion - Gives you 1/2 gray. The second most frequent color is white. Red, Green, Blue have an even chance of appearing but is less frequent than white or gray. Gold appears very rarely. Album Medallion - White appears the most. Red, Green, Blue, still appear but not as frequently as White. Approx. 1/3 grey. Gold appears rarely. Viola Medallion - White and Blue appears the most. Red and Green still appear but not as frequently as White or Blue. Approx. 1/3 grey. Gold appears rarely. Rubrum Medallion - White and Red appears the most. Green and Blue still appear but not as frequently as White or Red. Approx. 1/3 grey. Gold appears rarley. Viride Medallion - White and Green appears the most. Red and Blue still appear but not as frequently as White or Green. Approx. 1/3 grey. Gold appears rarley. Magist Medallion - White appears the most. Other colors still appear. More heavily on gold than others. Gray does not appear. -------------------------- || || || The Colors || || || -------------------------- The colors that the connections are made of will define the type of alchemy henceforth. White connections will give you those of white alchemy, blue connections will give you those of blue alchemy, and etc. White Alchemy - The most common alchemy achieved with most medallions. White alchemy grants you restoration items and some not so great items for your adventure. Possiblely even equipment Blue Alchemy - Creates items for Hewie. Red Alchemy - Creates attack items for the player to use. Green Alchemy - Creates more medallions, and possibly equipment. GOLD spheres will not create their own alchemy but act as wild cards and will be connected and counted to whatever color is adjacent to them. (Gold may turn into white, blue, green, red, and if possible, count as multiple colors at once.) *Notes* When you have several connections in different places, the one with the most connections will be the connections that your reward will come from. Also when you have a number of connected globes that meet multiple items, it will be randomly selected from the list. (Ex. You got 6 connected white globes with 6 links, you may be rewarded with 3 Quies, 3 Mundus, 3 Recreatio, or 3 Sedetio.) ------------------- || White Alchemy || ------------------- 2 connected globes: Carbo 2-3 connected globes: Nigred 2-3 connected globes: Remedium 2 or more connected globes: Quies 2 or more connected globes: Mundus 3 connctioned globes: Torva 3 or more connected globes: Recreatio 3 or more connected globes: Sedetio 7 or more connected globes: Equipment (Also Fortis, See details) ------------------ || Blue Alchemy || ------------------ 2 connected globes: Esca 2 or more connected globes: Bennenam Esca 2 or more connected globes: Magna Esca 3 or more connected globes: Sylvesta Esca ----------------- || Red Alchemy || ----------------- 2 connected globes: Torva 2 connected globes: Weltigo 2-3 connected globes: Antimony Powder 2-4 connected globes: Magnesia 2-4 connected globes: Refined Antimony 2-5 connected globes: Refined Magnesia 3-5 connected globes: Weeping Stone 4 or more connected globes: Antimony Tube 4 or more connected globes: Prima Magnesia ------------------- || Green Alchemy || ------------------- 2 connected globes: Weltigo 2 or more connected globes: Medallion 2 or more connected globes: Album Medallion 2 or more connected globes: Viola Medallion 2 or more connected globes: Rubrum Medallion 2 or more connected globes: Viride Medallion 4 or more connected globes: Equipment (Also Fortis, see details) 5 or more connected globes: Magist Medallion -------------------------- || Extra Details || -------------------------- *Not all items are positive!
