Introduction ========================= This guide was intended for the Fahrenheit (Euro) PC version of the game, but, unless specified, is exactly the same for all other versions of this game, and for all other platforms. Indigo Prophecy is the title for the North American (USA/Canada) version, and has some scenes censored, but has the exact same possible endings. Dialogue was taken from the english voice-overs. ========================= II. Insanity Epilogues ========================= This section will contain all of the possible alternate endings in which one of the main characters loses suddenly due to zero or lesser sanity. 1. Lucas - Asylum ----------------- How-To: Deplete Lucas' sanity bar at the restaurant (may be other points in the game). An easy method to accomplish this is to load the very first chapter where you automatically start at 40%. Follow the method in the Demo FAQ/Walkthrough by Zeketheo also located on GameFAQs. Description: Lucas is sent to an asylum. Lucas is shown in a dark, brick-walled room, curled into fetal position with a blank stare on his face. Dialogue: Lucas (narrator): "That's the end of my story. They say I went completely off the rails, and that I'm not responsible for my actions. They locked me up in Belvue Asylum for the rest of my days. I'll never know what really happaned in the restaurant, because, in the eyes of the world I'm just a dangerous lunatic." 2. Lucas - Suicide (see credits for more info) ------------------ How-To: Deplete Lucas' sanity bar while he is in his apartment, in either chapter 'The Day After' or 'Lost Love'. An easy method to accomplish this is to repeatedly drink the alcohol under the kitchen counter. The first drink will give him a 5% boost to his sanity, but each additional drink will subtract 20%. Don't take the medication before doing this, or you will get a different ending. Description: Lucas sits in a chair in his apartment, depressed. He then commits suicide by jumping from his balcony. Dialogue: Lucas (narrator): "That's the end of my story. I wasn't able to take the pressure, so I chose to put a definitive end to all the madness. I'll never know what happened in the restaurant, because in the eyes of the world, I'm just a murderer." 3. Lucas - Self-Arrest ---------------------- How-To: Deplete Lucas' sanity bar while outside (tested in chapter 'Confession', may be other points in the game). You can set yourself up for this by leaving Lucas' apartment in 'The Day After' with only 5% sanity. Immediately follow-up with chapter 'Confession' and talk to Marcus. You'll gain an additional 10%. Use the conversation options 'Sick' and 'Break off' to lose 15%. Description: Lucas appears in the police department lobby. Garrett and McCarthy (diner cop) are there. McCarthy turns around, recognizes Lucas and pulls his gun on him. Lucas surrenders immediately. 4. Carla - Resigns ------------------ How-To: Deplete Carla's sanity bar at any point in the game. An easy method to accomplish this is to load the first debriefing chapter where Carla gains access to the NYPD basement. Fail her breathing mini-game to lose 10% each time. You can continually retry this method until you finally lose it all. Description: Carla leaves a letter of resignation on the captain's desk, also leaving her gun and badge behind. The office is empty and she leaves alone. Dialogue: Carla (narrator): "That's the end of my story. I thought I was tougher than I really was. All those years in the police, all those murders, all that constant violence, finally wore me out. I left my resignation in Captain Jones' office. I went to California where my dad's got a house. I don't know what's gonna happen, but the rest of the story is gonna have to do without me." 5. Tyler - Resigns ------------------ How-To: Deplete Tyler's sanity bar at any point in the game. The earliest you can drive Tyler insane is by chapter 4. In chapter 2 you can make Tyler overwrought by using the jukebox, talking to the bum (Bogart) out back, and then trying to get back into the diner from the backdoor. Avoid anything that earns Tyler points like find evidence, talking to people, and drinking coffee. In chapter 4 you should be depressed enough when you talk to Sam. Use the upset and aggressive options in your conversation with Sam and you'll drop another 30%. Description: Tyler and Samantha get into Tyler's car and drive away from snowy New York. Dialogue: Tyler (narrator): "That's the end of my story. I thought I could help to make the world a better place, but, Samantha was right. Sacrificing my life wasn't going to change anything. I went home, told Sam to pack our stuff in a suitcase, and we took the first plane to Florida. I'll sell sneakers at her parents' store, have kids, be happy. I called Carla to explain things to her. I think she understood. I don't know what the future holds, but I'm sure of one thing: I made the right decision." ========================= III. Chapter Epilogues ========================= This section will hold all of the possible alternate endings in which one of the main characters loses suddenly due to a story element. Please note that not every chapter has such story elements. Chapter 1: The Murder --------------------- a. Lucas gets caught in restaurant bathroom How-To: Just wait in the bathroom for a few minutes. The cop will eventually visit the bathroom. If you hide the body first, it'll take the cop a few extra seconds to stop you. Otherwise, he'll stop you immediately. Dialogue: McCarthy (Cop): "Don't move! You are under arrest. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can, and will be used against you." Lucas (narrator): "And that's how my story ends. The cop, who thought at first that I was injured, opened the door to the toilets and found the body. I'll be spending the rest of my days rotting in some prison somewhere. I'll never know exactly what happened to me that cold night in January in the toilet of an East End restaurant. Because, as far as everyone else is concerned, I'm just a killer." b. Lucas gets stopped inside restaurant How-To: Before leaving the bathroom, wash yourself off. Exit the bathroom, but do not exit the restaurant. You will eventually get stopped by the cop when he inspects the bathroom and finds the dead body. Dialogue: McCarthy (Cop): "Nobody goes anywhere! A crime has just been committed. I'm going to have to ask you to stay calm, and wait here for the police to arrive and check your IDs." Lucas (narrator): "And that's how my story ends. The police found blood on my clothes and arrested me. So, I'll be spending the rest of my days rotting in some prison somewhere. I'll never find out exactly what happened; that cold night in January in the toilet of that restaurant. Because, as far as everyone else is concerned, I'm just another killer." c. Lucas gets caught red-handed outside bathroom (see credits for more info) How-To: Exit the bathroom immediately after the murder. Be sure not to wash your hands before exiting. After bumping into Kate, either walk up to the approaching cop or let him walk up to you. Dialogue: McCarthy (Cop): "What happened Kate? Are you injured sir? Is there something wrong? Sir...?" Lucas (narrator): "And that's how my story ends. The cop, who thought at first that I was injured, opened the door to the toilets and found the body. I'll be spending the rest of my days rotting in some prison somewhere. I'll never know exactly what happened to me that cold night in January in the toilet of an East End restaurant, because, as far as everyone else is concerned, I'm just a killer." d. Lucas gets caught outside by patrol How-To: Manage to exit the restaurant anyway you can without going insane first. Do not leave the area by subway or taxi. Wait anywhere outside for a few minutes and you will get stopped by a patrol. Dialogue: Cop: "Good evening, sir. Can I see some identification, please?" Lucas (narrator): "And that's how my story ends. Some policeman on patrol happened to arrest me as I was wandering aimlessly around the neighborhood. It wasn't too hard to link me up with the murder. I'll be spending the rest of my days rotting in some prison somewhere. I'll never know exactly what happened on that cold night in January. Because, as far as everyone else is concerned. I'm just a murderer." Chapter 3: The Day After ------------------------ a. Lucas mixes drugs and alcohol How-To: As soon as you wake up take the medicine next to your bed. Walk out to the kitchen, and you should find a bottle of alcohol hiding under the bar, in front of the refrigerator. Drink it and you'll collapse immediately. Dialogue: Lucas (narrator): "And that's the end of my story. I mixed alcohol with medication and I lost consciousness. Suicide or accident, what's the difference? I'll never know what happened to me in that diner on a cold winter's night, because in the eyes of the world I was just a murderer." b. Lucas gets caught in apartment How-To: Do not hide your bloody bed sheets and/or bloody clothes by the time you have to open the door for the cop. The cop will eventually arrest you when he sees one or the other. Dialogue: Cop: "Hey, what's this?! Stay where you are, and put your hands in the air, sir!" Lucas (narrator): "And that's how my story ends. The neighbors called the cops because they heard shouts coming from my apartment. It didn't take long for them to find evidence of my guilt and linked me up to the murder in the restaurant. Now I'll never find out what really happened. As far as the rest of the world is concerned, I'm just a murderer." Chapter 4: Confession --------------------- a. Lucas gets caught at the park How-To: After your conversation with Marcus, and the vision about the child falling, either run straight up to the cops, or try to run away after bringing the child to the surface (but before beginning CPR). Dialogue: McCarthy: "Hey, I know who you are! Don't Move!" Lucas (narrator): "And thus my story ends, because by the stupidest of chances, I happened to run into the cop from the restaurant as he made his rounds in the park. It was one chance in a million, and I bought the winning ticket. I'll spend the rest of my days rotting in prison. I'll never know what happened to me that cold January night at an East End restaurant, because as far as the rest of the world is concerned, I'm just some murderer." b. Lucas drowns in the lake How-To: After your conversation with Marcus, and the vision about the child falling, jump in after the child. Fail to swim down to the child or back up with him to trigger the scene. Dialogue: Man 1: "Are you sure there's somebody down there?" Man 2: "Yep, positive. I saw a kid fall in, and then a guy dove in to save him." Man 3: "Yea, I saw him too. It was a little while ago, he definitely should have come up by now." Lucas (narrator): "And that's how my story ends. I died in the frozen waters of Central Park, trying to save the life of a young boy. I'll never know what happened to me that cold January night at the restaurant, because as far as the rest of the world is concerned, I'm just another murderer." c. Lucas gets caught failing to save child How-To: After your conversation with Marcus, and the vision about the child falling, jump in after the child. Successfully swim down and bring the child back up to the surface. From this point, let the timer run out before completing CPR. Dialogue: Lucas (thinking to himself): "His heart's not beating. This time it's over." McCarthy: "Hey, I know who you are! Don't Move!" Lucas (narrator): "And that's how my story ends. I was arrested after trying to rescue a young boy. I know that prison will be nothing compared to the remorse I feel about not being able to save that boy's life. And, I'll never know what happened to me on that cold January night, at an East End restaurant, because as far as the rest of the world is concerned, I'm just another murderer." Chapter 6: Alternate Reality ---------------------------- a. Lucas goes into shock How-To: During the mental battle with the gigantic mites, let them defeat you. Do not fight them off or try to escape. Dialogue: Lucas: "NO!" Warren: "Lucas? Lucas, can you hear me?!" Lucas: "Aaagh!" Warren: "My god, he's trying to swallow his tongue!" Lucas: "Aaaaagh!!" Warren: "Quick, call an ambulance!" Lucas: "Ugh..." Lucas (narrator): "And that's how my story ends. I was committed to a mental hospital where I think I finally went insane. I was harassed by nightmarish visions that attacked me non-stop, night and day. I don't know how long I'll be able to resist. But, the worst part is, I never did find out what really happened on that cold January night in the diner. Because, to the rest of the world, I'm just another insane murderer." Chapter 18: The Storm --------------------- a. Lucas falls off the balcony How-To: After your mental battle with the Oracle, you will switch to Marcus. Fail to save Lucas by letting the timer run out. Dialogue: Lucas (narrator): "And that's how my story ends." Lucas: "NOooo...!" Lucas (narrator): "Officially, they called it a suicide. I'd never find out the truth about what really happened to me in that restaurant, on that cold January night. I'd never know who it was that killed me." Chapter 20: Face Off -------------------- a. Lucas is brought in on suspicion How-To: Max out your suspicion bar during your interrogation. Certain conversation choices such as deliberately lying or avoiding the question will raise suspicion. Suspicious activity includes reacting to the hallucinations. Dialogue: Lucas (narrator): "And that's how my story ends. My attitude and answers aroused suspicion. I didn't have an alibi, and my prints matched those found in the restaurant. I'll spend the rest of my days rotting in a New York state penitentiary. I'll never find out what happened to me on that cold January night, because as far as the rest of the world is concerned, I'm just some murderer." *Additional chapters to come... ========================= IV. Final Endings ========================= This section consists of the three possible main conclusions of the game. They can only be achieved in the final chapter of the game after the final battle with the Oracle and A.I. ***************************************************************************** * * * There are two points in the game which affect the final battle. First of * * which is finding and saving Jade at the orphanage from the Oracle. Second * * is your choice to give Jade to the A.I. or not. Note that failing to save * * Jade from the Oracle will eliminate your choice to give her to the A.I. * * Despite any of your decisions at these two points, you can still attain * * each and any of the three final endings. What does change are very slight * * factors such as whether you arrive at the base with Jade or not, who you * * fight first and second, and whether or not there will also be soldiers * * there. Read each section for more information. * * * ***************************************************************************** ** Also note: Even though the soldiers are relatively easy to deal with, defeating them or losing to them changes things very, very insignificantly. Since you are dead, getting shot can't kill you anyway, so the final battle continues. 1. Oracle / Orange Clan wins ---------------------------- How-To: Lose to the Oracle in the final battle. Let the Oracle to hear Jade's secret. -If you refused to give Jade to the A.I. (Agatha's form): You will fight the Oracle first. When battle begins, simply let yourself get hit by the Oracle's attacks, and Lucas will fall to the ground. At this point you can now take control of Carla. Let the timer run out for Carla, and the Oracle will automatically win. The A.I. will not show up at all. -If you gave Jade to the A.I. (Agatha's form): You will fight the A.I. first. Defeat the A.I. and the Oracle will reveal himself with Carla at gunpoint. Take the Oracles offer to save Carla and he will knock you both out and take Jade. There will be no soldiers to deal with. -If you failed to rescue Jade and the Oracle took her: You will fight a soldier first (and timer). You can choose to pick up the metal and hit the soldier with it, or use your powers. You can also let the timer run out, which changes the next dialogue slightly. Next, you will fight the Oracle. Let the Oracle beat you. Carla will not be available this time, so you lose automatically. The A.I. won't be there. Description: The Oracle defeats Lucas (and Carla, if she's inside) then proceeds to take Jade to the altar atop the Chroma source. Jade whispers to the Oracle. The Oracle gasps then grins, and stands back. Jade dies(?) soon thereafter. Scene transitions to the New York streets, now clear of snow. There is little traffic and few pedestrians outside. The camera moves along the street as Lucas narrates. Camera switches to outside Lucas' apartment and slowly moves inside to show Lucas sitting in a chair, staring at the floor. Carla walks up from behind and exchanges words with Lucas. She reaches out to him. They embrace and kiss each other. Lucas resumes a pose of deep thought. Camera pans out and transitions to black. Dialogue: Lucas (narrator): "After a few days, the temperature on the planet went back to normal. The Oracle let us go. I guess his victory was enough and he didn't feel the need to confront me needlessly." "Carla and I went back to New York to await the big changes that were coming, but, nothing happened. Three months after the revelation of the Indigo Child, nothing much had changed for humanity, at least it seemed that way. But I know that one day their plan will reveal itself." "Carla and I have been together ever since Wishita. Yesterday, she told that she's pregnant. It must have been that night in Bogart's underground base. That means that our child was radiated by the Chroma at Wishita. Just like I was in my mother's womb." "I'm not sure what's going to happen now. Carla and I are trying to lead normal lives, as though nothing had ever happened. I still see through the eyes of the Oracle from time to time. I know that what we went through is just the beginning." Carla: "What are you thinking about, Lucas?" Lucas: "Oh, Nothing. Nothing at all." 2. A.I. / Purple Clan wins -------------------------- How-To: Lose to the A.I. in the final battle. Allow the A.I. to gain Jade's secret. -If you refused to give Jade to the A.I. (Agatha's form): You will fight the Oracle first. Defeat the Oracle with Lucas or Carla. a. If you defeated the Oracle with Lucas, you will fight the soldiers next. Finally, the A.I. will arrive to fight you. Lose to him here. b. However, if you defeated the Oracle with Carla, the A.I. will appear and kill the soldiers, then knockout Carla. At this point Lucas will regain consciousness. As Lucas, lose to the A.I. -If you gave Jade to the A.I. (Agatha's form): You will fight the A.I. first. Lose to the A.I. The Oracle will arrive (without Carla) to battle with the A.I. You can now switch to Carla if you so choose to. Lucas is now out of your control, and will attempt to take Jade to the altar (for the A.I.). Let the timer run out, and the A.I. will defeat the Oracle. Defeat him with Lucas (Carla will not be available to save you if you fail at this point). Finally, the A.I. will appear, so lose to him. The game will allow you to switch to Carla. Let the timer run out instead. Description: -If you refused to give Jade to the A.I. (Agatha's form) in 'Where is Jade?': The Oracle and Lucas (Carla, too, if she was inside) are all defeated. The A.I. takes Jade to the Altar atop the Chroma source, where Jade whispers to the A.I. machine. Jade dies(?) soon thereafter. -If you gave Jade to the A.I. (Agatha's form) in chapter 'Where is Jade?': The A.I. will walk over nearby with his hand outstretched. Lucas (under the control of the A.I.) will listen to Jade's secret. Lucas then collapses, and Jade dies(?) soon thereafter. Scene transition to a completely snowed in city and continuing blizzard. Change to Bogart's subway base, where Carla is seen talking with Bogart. Lucas is once again sitting alone, thinking. Nearby, Markus is conversing with one of the other Invisibles. As Lucas continues to narrate, Carla comes up behind him and reaches out to touch him. They embrace and kiss each other. Lucas resumes a pose of deep thought. Transition to black. Dialogue: Lucas (narrator): "The temperature continues to drop. It doesn't seem like its ever going to stop. Three quarters of humanity have already perished. The rest are chased night and day by the machines. We're forced to live underground like rats. The Purple Clan are the new masters of the planet. Now that they have the secret of the Indigo Child, nothing has the power to stop them." "Carla and I have taken refuge with Bogart and the Invisibles. She's the best thing that's happened to me in a long time. Yesterday, she told me that she's pregnant. It must have been that night in Bogart's underground base. That means that our child was radiated by the Chroma at Wishita. Just like I was in my mother's womb." "The Chroma has made me a sort of hero among the humans. We try to damage the A.I. machines as much as we can, although, our chances of victory are obviously pretty small. Even if we could beat them, we'd still have to live underground because of the cold." "In my dreams, I hear voices telling me that our child is the next Indigo Child, the savior of humanity. I try not to listen. For the time being, all I care about is protecting my wife and my child." Carla: "What are you thinking about, Lucas?" Lucas: "Oh, Nothing. Nothing at all." 3. Lucas / Humanity wins ------------------------ How-To: Defeat all opposition (one way or another) and allow Lucas to willingly take Jade to the altar. -If you refused to give Jade to the A.I. (Agatha's form): You will fight the Oracle first. Defeat the Oracle with Lucas or Carla. a. If you beat the Oracle with Lucas, deal with the soldiers, then the A.I. b. However, if you defeated the Oracle with Carla, the A.I. will appear and kill the soldiers, then knockout Carla. At this point Lucas will regain consciousness. As Lucas, defeat the A.I. -If you gave Jade to the A.I. (Agatha's form): You will fight the A.I. first, BUT, you can choose to defeat the A.I. now or later. a. If you defeat the A.I. first, the Oracle will reveal himself with Carla at gunpoint. Refuse to give Jade to the Oracle. Carla will counterattack the Oracle, steal his gun, and defeat him with it. There will be no soldiers to deal with. b. However, if you lose to the A.I., the Oracle will arrive (without Carla) to battle with the A.I. You can now switch to Carla if you so choose to. Lucas is now out of your control, and will attempt to take Jade to the altar. Switch to Carla as soon as possible and take her inside. Wake up Lucas before the timer runs out. The A.I. will defeat the Oracle and interrupt Carla. It will knock Carla out, but you will regain control of Lucas. Defeat the A.I. -If you failed to rescue Jade and the Oracle took her: You will fight a soldier first (and timer). You can choose to pick up the metal and hit the soldier with it, or use your powers. You can also let the timer run out, which changes the next dialogue slightly. Next, you will fight the Oracle. Defeat him with Lucas (Carla will not be available to save you if you fail at this point). Finally, the A.I. will appear. From here, you can choose to defeat the A.I. now or later. a. If you defeat the A.I. immediately, the battle is over then and there. b. However, if you lose to the A.I., you are then given a choice to switch to Carla. As Carla, reach Lucas before the timer runs out. Carla will be knocked out, but you will regain control of Lucas. Defeat the A.I. with Lucas. Description: Both the Oracle and A.I. are defeated. Lucas takes Jade to the Altar atop the Chroma source, where Jade whispers to Lucas. Jade dies(?) soon thereafter. The camera transitions to a scene of a grassy, hilly area under clear, blue skies. Lucas narrates for awhile, and we can see him sitting upon a rock under a tree, staring at the ground. Carla walks up from behind and exchanges words with Lucas. She reaches out to him. They embrace and kiss each other. Lucas resumes a pose of deep thought. Camera pans out and transitions to black. Dialogue: Lucas (narrator): "The cold went away, just like it had come; in silence. As if the Indigo Child had turned the hourglass by delivering her message. Everything was just as it was before. I guess that means the lesser evil, The Oracle and the Orange Clan, went back to their places of power in the secret government of the world. And the Purple Clan went back to haunting us on the Net." "I should be happy, I guess. I've been living with Carla for three months. She's the best thing that's happened to me in a long time. Yesterday, she told me that she's pregnant. It must have been that night in Bogart's underground base. That means that our child was radiated by the Chroma at Wishita. Just like I was in my mother's womb." "I don't know what's gonna happen now. I'm the one and only keeper of the greatest secret in the universe. What should I do with all that power? Forget it? Put it in the service of humanity? I've never dreamt about being a god. I just want to live my life, like anybody else, with my wife and child. I'm afraid that destiny might have another path in mind for me." Carla: "What are you thinking about, Lucas?" Lucas: "Oh, Nothing. Nothing at all." ========================= V. Credits & Legal ========================= Thank you to Kenthar for bringing to my attention the Lucas suicide ending and writing up the details on it. This also prompted me to find additional insanity epilogues, and to rewrite certain titles and sections to be more accurate. Credit to Ian Braithwaite for mentioning an overlooked ending involving the first chapter, which I've named, 'Lucas gets caught red-handed outside bathroom'. (Though I knew about this ending already, really) Thanks to 'entranced' for emailing me with details on an alternate path to the end which involves allowing the Oracle to take Jade from the orphanage. This also made me reconsider the style of my writing and so I changed the section IV slightly to be a little clearer and simpler. An Email from Izwalito concerning the name of the area that Lucas often mentions in his Epilogies cleared up my misunderstanding of "East End", New York. I had previously written "Easton" (which also seems to be an area in New York). 'Indigo Prophecy' & 'Fahrenheit' developed by Quantic Dream and published by Atari. Dialogue was taken from the Fahrenheit PC version with the english VOs. Original script written by David Cage.
