------------------------------- Some may remember when Gamefaqs user GenesisSaga was posting previews of a Collectables FAQ she was working on in the Gamefaqs forums. At the time I was watching her progress closely, waiting for the day when the FAQ would finally be complete and posted on the site. Well, GenesisSaga never completed the FAQ, her preview thread eventually became in-active and got archived. When it began to seem like the FAQ was never going to be completed, I decided to take all the information that she had posted in the forums and compile it into a usable checklist. I've told GenesisSaga about about this checklist and eventually managed to get her permission to submit it to Gamefaqs. JUST SO EVERYTHING IS CLEAR, this checklist is based on GenesisSaga's work, used with her permission. -----------------------
----------------------- I am not going to limit how you can use this checklist. Since it is essentially based entirely on the work of Gamefaqs user GenesisSaga, I feel that it wouldn't be appropriate for me to tell people how they can use the info contained within. Use this checklist in whatever manor you want, share it, customize it to suit your own personal tastes, etc. ------------------------------------
------------------------------------ I've made this checklist fairly easy to use. The collectables are arranged by the area they can be found in, with any collectables that can be found in more than one area listed with each additional area that they appear in. The areas are arranged in the order that I normally choose to visit them so some may feel out of order to you. Each collectable is proceeded by three underscore symbols and followed by the name or names of the monsters that drop them, with the monster names in parenthesis. Collectables that are not dropped by monsters have the location where they can be found listed in parenthesis instead. Collectables that have limited avaliability or need additional info are denoted with an asterisk after the monster name/location information. The additional notes are then listed immediately after the area list for the affected area. As you acquire each collectable, you can check it off the list by replacing the middle underscore with a capital "X", like the example below for instance. ___ Bad-Smelling Flank (Dropped by Bakis) {Not Yet Recieved} _X_ Bad-Smelling Flank (Dropped by Bakis) {Recieved} -------------------------------
------------------------------- Below is the checklist in it's current state of completion. Although it isn't one hundred percent complete yet, it is very close. I have gotten all the way to the end of the game and defeated Avalon. There isn't much left that needs to be done as far as identifying and verifying collectables is concerned. There are a handful of one chance encounter monsters that I got destracted with and forgot to note if they dropped a collectable when I originally killed them. These are the Infernos that you can fight by lighting the candles in the Kabel Ruins as well as the Guild Quest monsters Gorgoneon, Warmongers, and Zahatules. In reguard to the Guild Quest monster Gauraze and Stiel, other Gamefaqs users provided me with information on their collectables, so they are in this checklist. Three of the four remaining Guild Quest monsters, Latulgus, Nogartaris, and Ruglionaut I have a research gamesave that I can use to fight them over and over again. Those three I should be able to identify their collectables eventually. The last Guild Quest monsters, the Lava Beasts I actually already identified their collectable in a previous research-gaming session. The Lava Beasts, just like Gauraze and Stiel are already in the checklist. In reguard to the monsters in Demiurge Tower, only two monster types remain. They are the Wicked Crystals and the Valnoahs. The Valnoahs in particular are proving to be a real hassle when it comes to identifying their collectable. I have been playing the game in short one hour research sessions. I am usually lucky if I run into just one Valnoah during a given session. Ninety-nine percent of the time, the whole hour goes by with no Valnoahs encountered. I've probably done dozens of these research sessions in the last few months and perhaps encountered less than ten Valnoahs altogether overall. Not a single Valnoah that I have defeated has dropped a collectable yet. Although I had to defeat the the Wicked Crystals to open the final door in the game, I took the time to create a research save for them as well. They too I should be able to identify the collectables of later on down the road. For those monsters mentioned that I missed my chance to research the collectables off, I plan to eventually start a new save file to work on them. However, if you don't want to wait until I have completed the checklist and want to try to complete your own personal copy, I will share some tips with you. I have noticed some patterns when it comes to what monsters drop what collectables. Monsters that are similiar in appearance or are direct pallet swaps of eachother, but appear in different areas tend to share a single collectable. As an example the "Weight Sac" collectable. It is dropped by the Necroskels that appear in the Darakin Sewers, the Cloud Eaters that appear in The Thunder Mine, and so far also by the Pyro Heretics that appear in Drokonia. All three monsters are pallet swaps of each other. When you are researching the collectble of a monster that is not yet in the checklist, note what it looks like and see if it resembles a monster from a previous area on the list. Chances are if that monster is similiar to a monster from an earlier area, then it is quite likely that it drops the same collectable as it's earlier 'cousins'. When you recieve a new collectable from a monster group that includes different types of monsters, it may be difficult to determine exactly which monster dropped it. In such a case note what collectable you got and what monsters you defeated. If later you pick up another unit of that same collectable from a monster group that only includes one type, then only that one monster type could be the type that had dropped the collectable in question. If you wish to research the remaining collectables on your own, best of luck to you and feel free to share your findings with me if you are interested. My contact info is at the end of the checklist in "Section 7: Contact Information". The collectables avaliable prior to the Black Sun (the first half of the game) are listed first. To get the Golden Apple, head north from the south entrance of the maze until you come to the fork where you can only go east or west. Head east and follow the path as it curves north again. At some point, you should come to a new path that goes off to the east. Follow it to the tree at it's end, use Rivas to infuse the tree with life. This will cause the apple on it to turn red, now use Ayne to shake the tree and the apple will fall. Pick it up to get the Golden Apple. That way if you don't pick up the collectable listed for a given monster, you can just re-load your save and do the quest again. The location info for the Hellflame Sac and the Vake Rose were sent to me by other gamefaqs users. The info on the Helllflame Sac came in after I had already killed Gauraze, so that ones location is currently unconfirmed. The others I have been able to confirm in the game myself. Provided for your reference below is a list of what monsters can be found in each quest. Note, the list below only includes those monsters who's collectables I have been able to ID and confirm. They are the Wicked Crystal and Valnoah. I've spent dozens of hours each day over the last three to four days just fighting to get these monsters. No luck yet and it was becomming an exercise in frustration. I'll try again later on down the road. In the mean time, the monsters who's collectable I have Identified are listed above. If anyone knows what collectables these last four monsters drop, I would appreciate if they would share the information with me. ----------------------------------
---------------------------------- Below is a list of collectables that I still need to match up with their respective locations. I'll match them up someday. If you already know where some of these can be found, E-mail the information to me and I'll add it to this checklist and give you credit for the info. The items on this list came from a list included at the back of the Prima Games Legaia 2 Strategy Guide. The guide lists most the game's collectable, but it doesn't mention where any of them can be found. I am not sure if the list in the guide is complete, so if you know of any that are missing from this list, let me know. When E-mailing information to me, please mention the name "Legaia 2" in the subject field of the E-mail. ___ Golden Crest ___ Golden Emblem ___ Red Crest ---------------------------
--------------------------- Special thanks go to the following: Gamefaqs user "GenesisSaga". Most of the data in this checklist is based on her work. Without the previews of her Collectables FAQ that she was posting in the Gamefaqs forums, I would not have been able to compile this checklist. I truly hope that GenesisSaga manages to finish her FAQ someday. Brian Bond. Brian submitted the location of the "Old Wooden Sword" collectable. Gamefaqs user "Death by Default". She supplied information on the locations of several collectables. Prima Games. The collectables listed in the previous section were researched from a list included in the back of the strategy guide they published for Legaia 2. ------------------------------
