Pac-Mania FAQ by Vic Viper (vicviper592@yahoo.com) Table of Contents: 1. Game 2. Controls 3. Difference between US and Japanese version 4. Characters 5. Points and Items 6. Stages 7. Tips 8. Revision 9. What's Needed 10. Special Thanks 1. Game: This game is basically Pac-Man with jumping, more ghost, and better graphics. I kind of like this game very addictive as original Pac-Man. This FAQ will cover mainly the Japanese version which appears on: -Namco Museum Vol. 5 (Playstaton) -Pac-Man World 2 (GameCube and Playstation 2) -Pac-Man Collection (GameBoy Advanced) -Namco Museum: Playstation 2 (Playstation 2) The object of this game is simple: Eat all the pellets on the board, while avoiding ghost. 2. Controls: Directional Buttons: Move Pac-Man Jump Button: Allows Pac-Man to jump. Very useful if the ghost manage to squeeze you in. 3. Difference Between US and Japanese Version: Some don't know this, but the Japanese Version is difference than the US version. However, this FAQ will cover the Japanese Version, since the Pac-Mania on "Namco Museum: PS2" is based on the Japanese Version. Anyway here are the differences: US version: -The first Block Town only has one Level. -The first Pac-Man's Park, Sandbox, and Jungly Steps Worlds only have two levels each. -Spunky shows up on the second Sandbox World level. -Top 10 Score List. Will let you write initials, before continuing. -The "Pac-Mania" Logo has Pac-Man, Pinky, and Blinky circling around the logo. -There's Stage Select -Items are placed differently -Courage Bonus this would activate once you got past Block Town. I'm not sure how it works or how many points you get, but I think that if you jump over a certain amount of ghosts you get it. You'll get the points after you complete the stage. (Thanks to Klonoa for that one.) -Total Levels: 19 Japanese version: -First Block World has two levels. And every other world after that has three levels. -Spunky shows up on the third Jungly Steps level -No Stage Select. However, if one Japanese Machine has Stage Select, you cannot continue. -No Top 10 Score List. -The "Pac-Mania" Logo doesn't have Pac-Man, Pinky, and Blinky circling around the logo. -Total Levels: 23 4. Characters: Pac-Man: You. The round circular thing. Blinky: Red Ghost. Later during the stage, he will become mad and will become fast. Pinky: Pink Ghost. Pretty fast. Will try to head Pac-Man off at the pass Inky: Light Blue Ghost. Usually follows Clyde. Won't confront Pac-Man that often. Clyde: Orange Ghost. Usually follows Inky. Won't confront Pac-Man that often. Sue: Purple Ghost. Will chase Pac-Man, if she spots him and is as fast as Blinky. Usually seen with one or two Funkies. Funky (aka Common): Green Ghost. Can jump, but not as high as Pac-Man. Spunky (Gray Common): Gray Ghost. Can jump as high as Pac-Man. 5. Points and Items: Pellets: 30 points Power Pellet: These things are what you need to eat the ghost. 300 points Ghost (In order for the point values of the ghost to go up, you must eat them before the Power Pellet wears off): First Ghost: 200 points Second Ghost: 400 points Third Ghost: 800 points Fourth Ghost: 1600 points Fifth Ghost: 3200 points Sixth, Seventh, Eighth, or Ninth Ghost: 7650 points Regular bonus fruit: Cherries: 1000 points Strawberry: 2000 points Orange: 3000 points Apple: 4000 points Bananas: 5000 points Peach: 6000 points Bell: 7000 points Key: 8000 points Special fruit (Note about Special Fruit, on later levels they randomly appear to the entire game. Ending (Spoiler: It's only words.): "Congratulations! You're 'King of Pac-Mania'! It was fun playing with you. We hope we can play again. Be seeing you... Thank you! ....To Be Continued." 7. Tips: -On the first couple of stages where power pellets last long, try to get 3 or 4 ghost near a power pellet. Once they are there, it is possible to eat all of the ghost on the board. You'll also rack up lots of points this way after eating the Pink Pill. -On later stages, try clearing the pellets on top of the maze first. Not all of the ghost will come out at once, once the level starts. -On later stages, power pellets won't last long. Use those to distract the ghost as you clear the board. -Jumping is very important. You can jump at least 3 ghost lengths. -When a ghost is on your tail, a good way to lose him is to turn around and jump over the ghost. 8.
