Any offenders will be severly dealt with! At the moment, GameFAQs (http://www.gamefaqs.com) is the only website allowed to host this FAQ and will also always have the latest release. I might change my mind when the FAQ reaches an almost complete state, but right now, only GameFAQs may use this FAQ. This FAQ for Ratchet & Clank is based on the German release (as it hit shelves first in Europe), with language set to English. I don't know about any differences in the NA release or other releases, so don't complain if things are labeled differently, but please let me know. Although compared to a R&C FAW a Final Fantasy FAQ surely is at least two levels more sophisticated to create a structure for and to maintain, he did a marvelous job with it. As I've read lots of FAQs and haven't found anything better in terms of structure (though there very likely is), I decided to use some of Scott's ideas (and part of his disclaimer text) for the first FAQ that I've done. >>> References <<< ------------------ Official R&C Website: http://www.ratchetandclankgadgets.com/ ____ / II \___________________________________________________________________ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Revision History ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -[0.1]- . All in all, there are 5 crate types: >> Wooden crate This is the type of crate that you'll encounter most often. It is beige and has a bunch of bolts in it. You can smash it with your wrench or use any fire weapon to open it. >> Self-destructing crate These are red crates with a large X on every side. Once you touched them, they will make a honking noise for a few seconds and then explode. If you're too close to the crate when it explodes, you'll get hurt. These crates also have a bunch of bolts in them. Either touch them to start the self-destruction process or use a fire weapon to destroy them from a distance. >> Metal crate Made of a dark grey metal (with a large X on every side), these boxes contain some bolts as well, but you can't smash them as simple as you can with wooden crates. Either open them with an explosion (e.g. by triggering the self-destruction of a nearby self-destructing crate or by throwing a bomb at them) or open them with a Power Slam once you have the Thruster Pack. >> Gadgetron service box The Gadgetron service boxes are light grey boxes with a big red G on each side. They contain ammo for your weapons. If you're not maxed out with your ammo on one weapon, it contains ammo for that weapon. If you're not maxed out on several weapons, it has ammo for any of these weapons. And if you're maxed out on all weapons, the ammo type in the box is random. >> Nanotech box These are boxes made of a transparent material that contain glowing blue spheres, so-called Nanotech, that restores your health. _____ / 3.2 \__________________________________________________________________ Invinco-Locks ------------------------------------------------------------------------- You will encounter the Invinco-Locks over and over again once you found the Trespasser, which is required to open the Invinco-Locks. To open an Invinco-Lock, stand on the activation pad and press the circle button while you have the Trespasser equipped to bring up the Invinco-Lock interface. Lasers are mounted on each of the three rings of the Lock. Push the left analog stick up and down to select which ring is active; push left and right to rotate the ring. Aim the lasers at the receptors on the outside ring to turn them green. All receptors must be green before the Invinco-Lock will open. To give you at least one solution to open each Invinco-Lock in the game, I thought of a system to explain this as easily as possible. If you have a better idea than the one pinpointed here, please let me know! Ok, let's start! Each lock has 12 receptors that we number like on a clockface: 12 11 01 10 02 09 03 08 04 07 05 06 Each lock also has three rings equipped with lasers and blockers, the outer, the middle and the inner ring. We will abbreviate thes three rings with O (outer ring), M (middle ring ) and I (inner ring). In the area descriptions for areas that have Invinci-Locks in them, I will alwas give you a number for each ring that will tell you how to turn this ring in an easy 3-step process: 1. Look for the largest gap between two devices mounted on the ring (it doesn't matter whether the device is a laser or a blocker). You may either count the number of receptors between each pair of adjacent devices on the ring and take the gap with the highest number of receptors. Or you turn the ring until you had each device below the receptor with the number 12 at least once; each time a device is below the receptor no. 12, you look for the next device in a counter- clockwise direction. Once you have the one with the lowest receptor number, you have located the largest gap. 2. Once you have the largest gap, look for the device (again, it doesn't matter whether it's a laser or a blocker) on the right end of the gap, that is, the device that confines the gap in clockwise direction. 3. Now turn the ring until the device you just located is in line with the receptor that has the same number given in the area description. To make this totally clear, let's look at an example: 12 11 01 AA 10 02 09 03 BB 08 CC 04 07 05 06 Here we have a ring with three devices, AA (in line with receptor no. 12), BB (in line with receptor no. 7) and CC (in line with receptor no. 4). As you can see (or calculate), the gap between AA and BB is 3 'ticks' wide, that between BB and CC is 2 'ticks' wide and the one between CC and AA is 4 'ticks' wide. Thus the largest gap is between devices AA and CC. As AA is the device that limits this gap in clockwise direction, you would now turn the ring until device AA is in line with the receptor whose number is given for that ring. If this were the outer ring and you read in the solution "O: 8", you would now turn the ring until device AA is adjacent to receptor no. 8. ____ / 4. \__________________________________________________________________ ======================================================================== Planets ======================================================================== Being probably the most important section of this FAQ, this section has a description of every planet along with the missions that you have to accomplish on that planet, how to the missions, and the rewards that you'll get for completing the missions. _____ / 4.1 \__________________________________________________________________ Planet Veldin ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is your starting location where Ratchet is trying to complete his spacecraft but finally finds out that he's lacking a robot ignition system while Clank's spacecraft crashes on the surface. AREAS ------------------------------------------------------------------------- >> Area 1: Kyzil Plateau ---Description------------------------------------------------------- The level is simple and consists of only one area that has Ratchet's shipyard on the one end and Clank's crash site on the other. ---Rewards----------------------------------------------------------- Nanotech Boxes: 2 Enemies : Bitetoad, Buzzer-Bot MISSIONS ------------------------------------------------------------------------- >> Mission 1: Investigate crash site ---Description------------------------------------------------------- That ship looked like it crashed near here! Find the site where it landed, and perhaps you can learn more about what happened. ---Prerequisites----------------------------------------------------- None. ---Rewards----------------------------------------------------------- Infobot: Planet Novalis Weapon : --- Gadget : --- Item : --- Misc. : Ratchet and Clank become a team ---How To------------------------------------------------------------ Pretty straightforward! The crash site is at the end of this level, and there's no more to it than walking and jumping there. Once you reach the site, a story sequence starts. _____ / 4.2 \__________________________________________________________________ Planet Novalis ------------------------------------------------------------------------- You'll get to Novalis automatically after completing Veldin. After a crash, which Clank should be used to by now, your objective is to find a new ship and some information on Drek's plans. AREAS ------------------------------------------------------------------------- >> Area 1: Mushroom Cave ---Description------------------------------------------------------- This area is south of your starting location. Turn south and walk past the launch pad to enter a canyon. After two water basins, you will reach a door that you have to open by using your wrench on the bolt crank. ---Rewards----------------------------------------------------------- Nanotech Boxes: 1 Enemies : Bee Dog, Yellow Shooter ---Misc. Info-------------------------------------------------------- - You can hit many of the larger mushrooms with your wrench. This will make them crush and give you some extra bolts. - To complete this area, you have to dive two times to get in another room. - In the room with the three circular, staged water basins, there is a fissure in the wall left to the door. If you throw a bomb at that wall, the wall breaks and a secret room with lots of bolt crates and a Golden Bolt is revealed. >> Area 2: Waterworks ---Description------------------------------------------------------- The waterworks is east of your starting location. You enter it by following the stream inside the cave that's straight behind you when you reach this planet. ---Rewards----------------------------------------------------------- Nanotech Boxes: 2 Enemies : Bee Dog, Yellow Shooter ---Misc. Info-------------------------------------------------------- - Once you enter the waterworks the first time, a minor earthquake will make some stalactites drop into the stream thus making you way to walk on them. - In the first room after the cave (the one with the two Bee Dogs and tons of bolt crates), you can do a wall jump (see the controls chapter) when standing at the bottom of the stairs that lead to the next room. This way, you'll get to a platform above the stairs that has a Golden Bolt on it. >> Area 3: Crater ---Description------------------------------------------------------- Step on the yellow lift pad that's immediately in front of you when you reach this planet to get down to the crater area. ---Rewards----------------------------------------------------------- Nanotech Boxes: 4 Enemies : Bee Dog, Yellow Shooter ---Misc. Info-------------------------------------------------------- - Once you have the Hydro-Pack (not until much later in the game), you can go after another Golden Bolt in this area. Jump into the river swim west against the current until you reach the forking that's immediately behind the bridge. Turn left and you will enter a secret cave with some crates and foes in it. The Golden Bolt is on the rear end of this cave. MISSIONS ------------------------------------------------------------------------- >> Mission 1: Find a new ship ---Description------------------------------------------------------- Thanks to your stellar piloting, you're stranded without a ship. Complicating matters is the fact that Tobruk Crater is being invaded by Drek's robot army. Yet with all of that military hardware, there's got to be a ship around somewhere... ---Prerequisites----------------------------------------------------- None. ---Rewards----------------------------------------------------------- Infobot: Planet Kerwan Weapon : --- Gadget : --- Item : --- Misc. : You may use the planet's courier ship ---How To------------------------------------------------------------ Fight your way through the whole crater area. After you killed all three Yellow Shooters next to the landing ship, you've rescued the planet's chairman. He will give you an infobot and allow you to use the planet's courier ship. >> Mission 2: Explore the waterworks ---Description------------------------------------------------------- These waterworks are one of the things Drek plans to steal from this planet. You should search them thoroughly before they're ripped from the planet. ---Prerequisites----------------------------------------------------- None. ---Rewards----------------------------------------------------------- Infobot: --- Weapon : --- Gadget : --- Item : --- Misc. : Waterworks mechanic offers you to buy an Infobot ---How To------------------------------------------------------------ Just walk through the waterworks until you reach the spot that's marked with an '?' on your map. You will meet the mechanic there, who offers you to buy an infobot for 500 bolts. >> Mission 3: Buy Infobot from mechanic ---Description------------------------------------------------------- Good job finding the mechanic. You should seriously consider buying the Infobot he has for sale. It will provide coordinates for a new planet. ---Prerequisites----------------------------------------------------- - Complete mission 2 on this planet ---Rewards----------------------------------------------------------- Infobot: Planet Aridia (buy from mechanic for 500 bolts) Weapon : --- Gadget : --- Item : --- Misc. : --- ---How To------------------------------------------------------------ Return to the mechanic with 500 bolts and buy the Infobot (or buy it right the first time you're there). _____ / 4.3 \__________________________________________________________________ Planet Aridia ------------------------------------------------------------------------- On Aridia, you want to look for Skid McMarx, greatest hoverboard racer of the galaxy, and his agent. Maybe he's got something in store for you 'cause you want to do the race in Blackwater City later to meet Captain Qwark. AREAS ------------------------------------------------------------------------- >> Area 1: Landing Site ---Description------------------------------------------------------- Consequentially the Landing Site is the area where you landed with yout ship, up to the Outpost to the north and including Skid's crash site in the south. ---Rewards----------------------------------------------------------- Nanotech Boxes: 2 Enemies : Flamethrower, Sandshark ---Misc. Info-------------------------------------------------------- - There are some thron bushes growing close to the rocks. Smash them for some extra bolts. >> Area 2: Sandshark Canyon ---Description------------------------------------------------------- This area essentially comprises the whole territory that's south and south-east of your space ship landing location and Skid McMarx's crash site. ---Rewards----------------------------------------------------------- Nanotech Boxes: 4 Enemies : Sandshark, Sandshark Nest ---Misc. Info-------------------------------------------------------- - As in the previous area, there are thron bushes (fewer than in the Landing Site) growing close to the rocks. Smash them for some extra bolts. - West of the large circular rock, you can see through a grid into a cave that has a Golden Bolt in it. But you can't destroy that grid. Instead walk into the alcove to the very south and look at the right wall. There are some cracks through which you can see into that cave as well. Use a bomb onto that wall and you're into the cave and have the Golden Bolt. >> Area 3: Outpost X11 Factory ---Description------------------------------------------------------- The factory is north of the Landing Site and has a west and an east wing. The only way to enter the west wing is to use a Swingshot that you'll get on Kerwan. ---Rewards----------------------------------------------------------- Nanotech Boxes: 5 Enemies : Flamethrower, Sandshark (both only in the east wing) ---Misc. Info-------------------------------------------------------- - One possible setting for the Invinco-Lock in the room with the Trespasser is O: 6, M: 10, I: 2 - In the circular room of the west wing where you get the Trespasser, there is a gigantic spinning fan below the platform in the center of the room. Jump off the center platform and land on one of the wings of that fan to get the Golden Bolt that is on the fan. To get off that fan again, just go to the very end of one of the fan's wings and aim with your Swingshot at the green Versa-Target above the room's center platform. >> Area 4: Northern Isles ---Description------------------------------------------------------- Three isles make up this area, the northernmost isle on which Skid's agent is, the tiny isle immediately east of the factory and the large center island that is shown in dark grey on your map ---Rewards----------------------------------------------------------- Nanotech Boxes: 0 Enemies : --- ---Misc. Info-------------------------------------------------------- - There's a Sand Mouse House next to the agent's ship - To get the Golden Bolt on the center island, get on that tiny isle east of the factory. Now face south and try to reach the corner of the factory (there's a big gap in the fence with a small platform in the corner that you can stand on). Although this is possible without a Heli-Pack, the Heli-Pack certainly helps. From that platform, the center isle is a mere jump away and you can pick up the Golden Bolt in the truck. - Another Golden Bolt is on top of the building that is behind the agent's crashed shuttle. Once you have the Magneboots, return to the northern isle and walk up one of the three Magne-Strips behind the shuttle remnants. MISSIONS ------------------------------------------------------------------------- >> Mission 1: Locate Skid McMarx ---Description------------------------------------------------------- That distress signal indicated that Skid McMarx ejected from his doomed ship. If he's still alive, it would probably be worth finding him. Maybe you could get an autograph... ---Prerequisites----------------------------------------------------- None. ---Rewards----------------------------------------------------------- Infobot: --- Weapon : --- Gadget : --- Item : --- Misc. : Skid offers you a hoverboard for taking out some sand sharks ---How To------------------------------------------------------------ This mission isn't a difficult job at all: Just walk south a bit from the launch pad and you'll see Skid standing next to his crashed ship. On your map, his location is the '?' that's immediately south-west to your space ship. >> Mission 2: Help Skid get to his ship ---Description------------------------------------------------------- Destroy all of the sandsharks and sandshark nests in the canyon leading to Skid's ship. You may want to pick up a Pyrocitor for this - those sandsharks are nasty. Don't forget, there's a Hoverboard in it for you. ---Prerequisites----------------------------------------------------- - Complete mission 1 on this planet - Pyrocitor - this is a soft requirement, meaning you can do it without a Pyrocitor, but it's a great help to take out the hoardes of sandsharks ---Rewards----------------------------------------------------------- Infobot: --- Weapon : --- Gadget : --- Item : Z3000 Deluxe Hoverboard Misc. : --- ---How To------------------------------------------------------------ As soon as you enter the Sandshark Canyon, you get a display in the lower corner of your screen that tells you how many sandsharks (left corner) and sandshark nests (right corner) are remaining. At the beginning, there are 57 sandsharks and 7 nests. Try to take out the nests first (the yellow thingies that spit out new sandsharks), otherwise the sharks just keep comming. But on the other hand, you may want to keep them for a while to collect more bolts from the sharks. The seven nests are at those locations: - You see the first one when you enter the canyon - One is in the alcove to the very south - Two more are atop that large circular rock (the steps are on its southern side) - Anotherone's north of the large circular rock - The last two are below Skid's ship at the end of the canyon Once you've killed the last sandshark, Skid appears and gives you your brand new Gadgetron Z300 Hoverboard. >> Mission 3: Find Skid's agent ---Description------------------------------------------------------- That chatty guy in the Infobot must have been Skid's agent. If he landed safely, you should track him down - agents always have useful information. ---Prerequisites----------------------------------------------------- None. ---Rewards----------------------------------------------------------- Infobot: --- Weapon : --- Gadget : --- Item : --- Misc. : Agent asks you to bring him a Hoverboard prize ---How To------------------------------------------------------------ Fight you way through the east wing of the Outpost X11 Factory until you reach a small island immediately east of the factory. From there, you can jump over to the larger island that has the '?' on it. There you'll meet Skid's agent. >> Mission 4: Bring prize to agent ---Description------------------------------------------------------- The agent mentioned that Hoverboard races are being held on Planet Rilgar. If you win the grand prize, you should bring it back to him as proof of your prowess. Perhaps he'll give you something useful in return. Better make sure you have a Hoverboard before you enter the race. ---Prerequisites----------------------------------------------------- - Complete missions 1 - 3 on this planet (you need the Hoverboard) - Win the Hoverboard race in Blackwater City (mission 2 on Rilgar) ---Rewards----------------------------------------------------------- Infobot: --- Weapon : --- Gadget : --- Item : --- Misc. : --- ---How To------------------------------------------------------------ ... >> Mission 5: Use your Swingshot ---Description------------------------------------------------------- The west side of the factory has Swingshot Versa-Targets everywhere. You should explore but you'll need a Swingshot first. ---Prerequisites----------------------------------------------------- - Get a Swingshot (complete missions 4 & 5 on Planet Kerwan) ---Rewards----------------------------------------------------------- Infobot: --- Weapon : --- Gadget : Trespasser Item : --- Misc. : --- ---How To------------------------------------------------------------ There are no enemies on your way, just a few of those exploding crates. You'll need your Swingshot a lot to get through the west wing of the outpost factory. You pass the large room in a counter-clockwise direction: First get to the other side of the room via the two yellow Versa-Targets, then get from platform to platform by using the two green Versa-Targets, and finally you have to use another two yellow Versa-Targets and you're through! _____ / 4.4 \__________________________________________________________________ Planet Kerwan ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kerwan is home to Metropolis, one of the galaxy's busiest places and sure enough are the Blarg trying to get it for their new planet as well. AREAS ------------------------------------------------------------------------- >> Area 1: Captain Qwark's Fitness Course ---Description------------------------------------------------------- Captain Qwark's Fitness Course is in the south-western corner of Metropolis and consists of three isles. You reach it by turning left at the Gadgetron Vendor when you're coming from the launch pad. ---Rewards----------------------------------------------------------- Nanotech Boxes: 1 Enemies : --- / RoboDog, Mine Launcher (only after completing the course and buying the Swingshot) ---Misc. Info-------------------------------------------------------- - This area only has enemies in it (on the second isle to be more precise) if you return after you've completed the course once. - Once you have the Heli-Pack, you may get a Golden Bolt in this area. Climb atop the fitness tower on the second isle and look towards the building that is north-east of the isle (shown on the map as a large, dark grey square to the right of two smaller, connected squares). The tower has a large room full of bolt crates and a Golden Bolt on approximately the same height as the surface of the second isle. Now jump towards that tower and use your Heli-Pack, and you will reach that room with no problems. >> Area 2: Downtown ---Description------------------------------------------------------- This is the area between the launch pad / Gadgetron Vendor and Al's Roboshack - roughly the southern half of the city. ---Rewards----------------------------------------------------------- Nanotech Boxes: 3 (1 in the Golden Bolt tunnel) Enemies : Mine Launcher, Missile Devil, RoboDog Machine Gun Helicopter (BOSS) ---Misc. Info-------------------------------------------------------- - You may whack the lantern posts in this area for a few extra bolts. - On the middle one of the three horizontal lanes, the first BOSS is waiting for you: To get through this area, you need to destroy the Machine Gun Helicopter with your Blaster. - There's a room with several bolt and ammo crates to the right of the middle of the three horizontal lanes, but you need the Heli-Pack to get up to that room. - Once you have the Heli-Pack and you're standing right next to the Gadgetron Vendor (with the vendor being to your left), you may jump off the balustrade and then get into a traffic tunnel below, that has a Golden Bolt in it. >> Area 3: Cargo Depot / Train Station ---Description------------------------------------------------------- Right after Al's Roboshack, in the northern part of Metropolis are the cargo depot and the train station. ---Rewards----------------------------------------------------------- Nanotech Boxes: 4 Enemies : Mine Launcher, Missile Devil, RoboDog, RoboTronic for RoboDogs ---Misc. Info-------------------------------------------------------- - You can get a Golden Bolt in the train station. After entering the station, use your Heli-Pack to get behind the luggage into the north-eastern section of the train station. Climb the luggage and jump from pile to pile until you reach the Golden Bolt. - There's a Sand Mouse House behind the luggage in the north-eastern half of the train station. >> Area 4: Sky Train Halt ---Description------------------------------------------------------- This is the area above the launch pad on top of the building. You won't be able to reach this area unless you've gone to the train station and used the Sky Train first. ---Rewards----------------------------------------------------------- Nanotech Boxes: 2 Enemies : Mine Launcher MISSIONS ------------------------------------------------------------------------- >> Mission 1: Visit Al's Roboshack ---Description------------------------------------------------------- Captain Qwark starred in the commercial for Al's Roboshack. Maybe Al knows where he is. ---Prerequisites----------------------------------------------------- None. ---Rewards----------------------------------------------------------- Infobot: --- Weapon : --- Gadget : --- Item : --- Misc. : Al offers you to buy a Heli-Pack for Clank ---How To------------------------------------------------------------ Just head to Al's Roboshack (the place right in the middle of the city that's marked with a '?' when you first come to that planet. See Area 2 (Downtown) above for more information on enemies that you may encounter. As soon as you've completed this mission, you may travel by cab between the Gadgetron Vendor and Al's Roboshack. >> Mission 2: Buy Heli-Pack from Al ---Description------------------------------------------------------- Al will sell you a Heli-Pack upgrade, which should improve Clank's abilities. ---Prerequisites----------------------------------------------------- - Complete mission 1 on this planet ---Rewards----------------------------------------------------------- Infobot: --- Weapon : --- Gadget : Heli-Pack (buy from Al's Roboshack for 1,000 bolts) Item : --- Misc. : --- ---How To------------------------------------------------------------ Return Al's Roboshack with 1,000 bolts and buy the Heli-Pack upgrade for Clank (or buy it right the first time you're there). >> Mission 3: Explore the rest of the city ---Description------------------------------------------------------- In a city this big, there must be something interesting you can find! ---Prerequisites----------------------------------------------------- - Complete missions 1 & 2 on this planet ---Rewards----------------------------------------------------------- Infobot: Planet Eudora Weapon : --- Gadget : --- Item : --- Misc. : --- ---How To------------------------------------------------------------ Fight your way through to the train station. After you've jumped onto the last waggon of the sky train, the train starts and you have to jump from waggon to waggon towards the locomotive while fighting Missile Devils. Once you've killed the last foe and almost reached the Infobot, the train will reach it's destination (Area 4, the Sky Train Halt). Kill a Mine Launcher and you finally get the Infobot. Using the yellow elevator pad, you get back to your space ship and may also return to the Sky Train Halt on further visits to this planet. >> Mission 4: Complete fitness course ---Description------------------------------------------------------- Finish Captain Qwark's fitness challenge and you may get a prize. ---Prerequisites----------------------------------------------------- - Talk to the Captain Qwark robot at the start of the fitness course ---Rewards----------------------------------------------------------- Infobot: --- Weapon : --- Gadget : --- Item : --- Misc. : Fitness trainer offers you to buy a Swingshot ---How To------------------------------------------------------------ Basically, this is a hell of a lot of jumping, including several wall jumps (see chapter 2). As long as you haven't completed this mission, you may use a cab to travel between the beginning and the end of the fitness course. As soon as you bought the Swingshot, the trainer leaves with the cab and you have to get back down by using the Swingshot. But the cab's waiting at the beginning of the course again in case you want to come back later. _____ / 4.5 \__________________________________________________________________ Planet Eudora ------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Blarg want the woods of Eudora for their new planet, but you can't let that happen. So go there and do something about it! If you have a better name for any of them, please let me know. Bee Dog ------- The Bee Dog looks like a bee colored puppy dog with wings. Sometimes it flies around to esacpe you or it chases you and tries to bite you. Bitetoad -------- The Leapfrog looks like a large toad with some dragon scales on its back. It just jumps around and tries to bite you if it gets too close. Blaster Sniper -------------- This is a robot with two red antennas and a blaster that it uses to shoot at you. If you get close to it and can't destroy it quick, it starts running from you. Don't chase it, instead wait until it's far enough away and starts shooting again. Now you can try to approach and destroy it again. Buzzer-Bot ---------- The Buzzer-Bot is a turqouise robot that is hovering around on an ignited ball. The Buzzer-Bot uses some sort of electricity gun to target you with regular strokes of electricity that last three seconds before it needs to recharge. It does only marginally retarget during a buzzing sequence, so you may safely bypass it while it's buzzing to attack it from behind. Buzzsaw-Bot ----------- The Buzzsaw-Bot is a yellow robot with two buzz saws as its arms, and it prefers to use these saws to cut your throat. Flamethrower ------------ The Flamethrower is a yellow robot with a large red tank on his back and does just what its name says - throwing flames at you in repeating cycles. During one cycle, he pans from the left to the right and back again in an angle of approximately 90 degrees, after which he pauses for a moment and then starts anew. Giant Woodchopper ----------------- This is the XL version of the woodchopper, and it has a devilish red look. Two Hyper-Strikes and it's out. Mine Launcher ------------- The Missile Launcher doesn't try to hurt you. Instead, he walks around, launching a line of mines at regular intervals and sucking up old mines once he passes them again. Touche one of those mines, and it explodes immediately, which makes you a piece of toast. Missile Devil ------------- The Missile Devil is a big red robot that shoots single short range missiles towards you. Try to evade the missiles and hit the Missile Devil hard to destroy it. RoboDog ------- Being the good watch dog that he is, the RoboDog always tries to catch and bite you. Not much more to say about this one, though. RoboTronic ---------- A small facility that keeps producing robots of a certain type over and over until it is destroyed. Sandshark --------- A nasty little orange fish with two feet that usually comes in larger hordes and tries to bite you. Take them out with the Pyrocitor or however you want. Sandshark Nest -------------- The Sandshark Nest looks like a strange kind of yellow plant and just keeps producing Sandsharks until it's taken out. Woodchopper ----------- This is a large turquoise robot with a big axe. Guess whom it wants to hit with that axe... Yellow Shooter -------------- The Yellow Shooter is a yellow robot with a rocket pack that allows it to fly around. If it's on solid ground, it shoots in your direction in intervals of four shots before it recharges for a second. It doesn't retarget during a shooting sequence, so you may safely bypass it while it's shooting to attack it from behind. Machine Gun Helicopter (BOSS) ----------------------------- This is the first boss type enemy that you encounter in the game. As soon as you approach it, it starts firing at you with it's machine gun. You need to use the Blaster to shoot it from distance and you will have no difficulties. This is best done using the sniper mode by pressing L1. ____ / 6. \__________________________________________________________________ ======================================================================== Weapons ======================================================================== /----------------------------------------------------------------------\ | Weapon Name Price | |----------------------------------------------------------------------| | Source: Tells you where to get that weapon | | Ammo : Ammo price at the Gadgetron vendors and number of charges | | per ammo pack (the boxes with a red G) | | Advert: Gadgetrons advertisement text for that weapon | | Desc. : Game's description of that weapon (if available) | | Usage : Strategy advice on when and where to use this weapon | \----------------------------------------------------------------------/ The weapon descriptions all follow the same scheme (as shown above). /----------------------------------------------------------------------\ | Blaster 2,500 bolts | |----------------------------------------------------------------------| | Source: Buy from any Gadgetron Vendor after leaving Novalis | | Ammo : 1 bolt p.p. / 25 per ammo pack | | Advert: Point it more or less at the bad guys and mow 'em down! | | Desc. : The Blaster is a great all-purpose weapon. For more detailed information, look in the planet area descriptions in chapter 4. Planet Novalis ------------------------------------------------------------------------- (1) The first Golden Bolt is in the Mushroom Cave: In the room with the three circular, staged water basins, there is a fissure in the wall left to the door. Throw a bomb at that wall (or use any other hefty weapon), the wall breaks and you've got the Golden Bolt. (2) In the first room of the waterworks (the one with lots of crates and a steep stairways to the next room), you can do a wall jump when standing at the bottom of the stairs. This way, you reach a platform above the stairs with a Golden Bolt on it. (3) For this one, you need the Hydro-Pack. Jump into the river in the Crater area and swim west until you reach the forking right behind the bridge. Turn left and you'll enter a secret cave. Defeat some foes and the Golden Bolt is yours. Planet Aridia ------------------------------------------------------------------------- (1) In the western rock wall of the Sandshark Canyon, you see a Golden Bolt through a grid that you cannot destroy. Instead walk into the alcove to the very south. There are some cracks in the right wall. Throw a bomb onto that wall and you have the Golden Bolt. (2) In the west wing of the Outpost X11 Factory, go to the room that had the Trespasser. There is a gigantic spinning fan below the center platform, so jump off and land on one of the fan's wings to get the Golden Bolt on the fan. (3) One Golden Bolt is on the center island (dark grey on your map). To reach it, get on the tiny isle east of the factory. Now try to reach the corner of the factory (there's a gap in the fence). From that platform, you can jump to the island and pick the Bolt in the truck. (4) Once you have the Magneboots, you can get the last Golden Bolt. Return to the northern isle with the agent's crashed shuttle and walk up one of the three Magne-Strips behind the shuttles remnants. The Golden Bolt is in the building above. Planet Kerwan ------------------------------------------------------------------------- (1) Once you have the Heli-Pack, return to Captain Qwark's Fitness Course. Climb atop the fitness tower on the second isle and look towards the building that is north-east of the isle (a large, dark grey square on the map). Now jump towards that tower and use your Heli-Pack, and the Golden Bolt is yours. (2) Once you have the Heli-Pack and you're standing right next to the Gadgetron Vendor (with the vendor being to your left), you may jump off the balustrade and then get into a traffic tunnel below, that has a Golden Bolt in it. (3) One more Golden Bolt is in the train station. Turn right after the escalator and use your Heli-Pack to get behind the luggage into the north-eastern section of the train station. Climb the luggage and jump from pile to pile until you reach the Golden Bolt. Planet Eudora ------------------------------------------------------------------------- (1) From the launch pad, turn right and walk until you're standing in front of two steps. Get on the lower step and do a Boost Jump to get hold of a small ledge above your head. There's your Golden Bolt!
