[1.0] Introduction ] O=---------------------------------------------------------------------=O' This a little guide I compiled together just to provide all information for Ratchet & Clank at GameFAQs. This was the only subject I could find missing. Most of this FAQ has been written by others which is noted where it says "Credit". The glitches show just how bad the QA Testers were at finding these things. Anyway, I hope you like the guide. - [tEG] O=---------------------------------------------------------------------=O. [2.0] Glitches ] O=---------------------------------------------------------------------=O' A glitch is a minor malfunction, mishap, or technical problem. In this case it is where something happens that wasn't intended by the programmers of Ratchet & Clank. If you are able to recreate a glitch, please e-mail me! There is no point in having a guide full of things that don't work! O=---------------------------------------------------------------------=O. [2.1] G1: Swimming on Air ] O=---------------------------------------------------------------------=O' Type : Polygon Seam Compatibility : NTSC - Yes NTSC Platinum - Unknown PAL - Unknown PAL Platinum - Unknown Location : Tobruk Crater Credit : sonicwilllwin, Black Wyvern 11 [Untested] This is a way to swim outside of water in nothingness under the level. You basically escape Tobruk Crater. Enter the really dark cave near your ship. It's in the pool right after the second door. Now go past the three circles, and you will come to a supposed dead end. I somehow slipped between the tunnel and the pool. I was outside of the level and I could see the things inside the factory moving from outside, and the flying cars went right through me! I tried to descend to the ground, but I was still swimming and didn't have enough air. If you jump while on the surface of the non-existant water, you will fall to the ground and the glitch will end. I have not been able to recreate this glitch. This is a polygon seam. It's where the polygons weren't excated together, which leaves a hole into a separate area, but not really an area, just a change of character actions. Note: This could be the same as Glitch 16. Glitch 16 includes a much better explanation on how to do it. O=---------------------------------------------------------------------=O. [Tested] Take the taxi at the start of the level to the racetrack, then turn on the hologuise. Enter the race with Triangle. You should have no hoverboard, and be able to walk around. If this isn't true, sorry, you have the wrong game. Follow the track until you reach the biggest jump. It is where you first see the Green Amoebas. Equip your taunter. Position yourself a little after the jump under the platform of boxes in the air. You will know if you are in the right place, becuase a stream of bolts will come down. Once you find the right spot, look straight ahead and weigh the circle button down with something. Leave on overnight for up to 1.2 million bolts! I kept gliding through the ground and the texturing of the surface of the "island" covered my screen. Then the camera went through the "island" surface and I was standing on the ground like 200 feet below with a bunch of blue circles where the track's blue circles would have been had it been 200 feet down. Weird... I could walk around, but couldn't get out! I had to save it and then load it. Oh well, it is cool to go down there, and there is also a ramp down there. O=---------------------------------------------------------------------=O. [2.7] G7: White Paradise ] O=---------------------------------------------------------------------=O' Type : Forgetfulness Compatibility : NTSC - Yes NTSC Platinum - Unknown PAL - Unknown PAL Platinum - Yes Location : Veldin Orbit Credit : Dane J [Tested] I found a glitch at Veldin Orbit. You have to have the temporary invincibility cheat unlocked to do this. Once you get to the end of the water course (Without getting hit once), the electricity will come back on. Now, make sure you have the cheat on. Go get the health to your left. You'll now be invincible. Now before it runs out, jump into the water then quickly jump out. Normally doing this would automatically kill you, but you're invincible. After you jump out most objects will be white-ish and you'll constantly hear a shock sound. This will stop once you leave the level. O=---------------------------------------------------------------------=O. [2.8] G8: Super Secret Fun Land ] O=---------------------------------------------------------------------=O' Type : Forgetfulness Compatibility : NTSC - Yes NTSC Platinum - Unknown PAL - Unknown PAL Platinum - Unknown Location : Planet Kerwan, Metropolis Credit : White Tiger Shiro [Untested] While taking a ride on the train, I noticed an area that looked like it might contain a Gold Bolt (two buildings right after the train starts with two sky walks connecting them). Deciding there was no other way to reach the ledge, I eventually decided to jump there from the train. It took some decent timing, since Ratchet moved with the train, but I managed to get on the ledge without fail after a couple tries. Here's what I discovered about this place (Just in case this isn't old): 1. You can walk into the corners of the arcs where you'll be landing as though they weren't there. 2. If you walk to the sky walk just around the coner, you can jump onto it. 3. From there, you must do a high-jump and push the X-button to lunge forward. For some reason, Ratchet will only grab the ledge when you push X after the High Jump. Once on the ledge, you can jump from wall to wall to get on the higher ledge. (If you fall from the second level accidently, glide slowly and you can get back to the first). 4. When on the second level, you can walk across the sky walk to the other building, but you cannot get on the building. Trying a High Jump followed with the jet burst forward caused Ratchet to hit an invisible wall. 5. On the second level, you can go around the corner and get onto the lower sky walk you saw on the way to the building. Nothing special, but it's there. 6. You can leap to the red building next to the one you'll land on. You'll go through the walls, and then through the floor that's displayed and onto a floor that's an inch underneath. From there you can run around on the air, and even walk outside of the walls (stay in the middle of the wall so you're in the indented area of the building) and look around. It's nothing overly special, and it's probably old news, but finding this area and looking around felt really satisfying, so I thought I'd share my experiences. :) O=---------------------------------------------------------------------=O. Perhaps it does not exist?] [Update: This glitch was confirmed by lmk357. Thanks for clearing it up] On Qwark's Course, go through the course until you get to the second swingshot part. Jump into the pool, climb out and you will see a black wall on your left. If you walk through it, you'll reach a small new area. If you jump into the water, you can swim around the whole level underwater. Some pretty crazy stuff can happen. It is best to do this once the level is fully complete. For some reason they didn't program in a polygon for either of those two places, I guess they figured nobody would stop there. Go to the building on the left near the start - the one protected with a Trespasser lock, the one with a gold bolt on its roof. Don't go in, though; instead, go to the corner on the right. The curved part of the corner wall is purple; from the purple part, running outward to the edge of the floor, are two parallel lines, about as far apart as Ratchet's foot is long. Stand between them, as close to the purple as you can get, but with the camera facing off to the right, in the direction where the floor ends. Hold L1. Voila, most of the landscape disappears; you can see the water flowing, a lot of plants, a few distant moving things, but it's all floating in midair, visually. O=---------------------------------------------------------------------=O. [2.18] G18: Trampoline ] O=---------------------------------------------------------------------=O' Type : Unknown Compatibility : NTSC - Yes NTSC Platinum - Yes PAL - Yes PAL Platinum - Yes Location : Planet Rilgar Credit : Didier Collard [Tested] On Rilgar, take the taxi to the racetrack. On the way over, turn on your Hologuise. If you hold still, you'll bounce as if on a trampoline. O=---------------------------------------------------------------------=O. [2.19] G19: Suba Adventures on Rilgar ] O=---------------------------------------------------------------------=O' Type : Area Malfunction/Bad Programming Compatibility : NTSC - Yes NTSC Platinum - Yes PAL - Yes PAL Platinum - Yes Location : Planet Rilgar Credit : Didier Collard [Tested] Swingshot your way along to the last floating ledge in the water before the tunnel. Equip your Hologuise, then change back to Ratchet. You will see a small rock inbetween two large rocks in the water. Try to jump to this small rock while repeatedly pressing Circle and holding Forward. If successful, you should go underwater. Quickly use the Direction Pad to move out of the way of the rocks. If you aren't underwater, keep trying. It takes myself about 20 times to get under. It helps to have the Hydro-Pack and 02 Mask, though they're not strictly necessary. Anyway, now you can swim all over...or rather, under Rilgar! The bay area is rather boring, since if you surface, you won't be able to dive back under (unless you just repeat the instructions), but you can go interact with the fish/dinosaur things - safely, I might add, as long as you stay under the water. Also, if you head out of the bay (towards the main part of the city), you can look at the underside of the buildings and other structures. There's a lot of places where if you climb too much, you'll suddenly start falling to your death, but if you're lucky you can hover back to the "safety" of the sometimes invisible water. But perhaps the most fun thing to do is to head northwest, to the actual water areas. The light-colored horizontal areas (they look like light-blue paper) represent a different water level. There's actually several of them. Though you'll get confined to that level (i.e., you can go no higher than that) once you touch it, I still recommend it for the following reason. Once you enter the lower water, the screen's colors will switch to abovewater, so it won't be all blue anymore. Now, swim out of the visible water plane, so you appear to be swimming in midair, and dive. Apparently, if you don't pass through a visible water membrane, the game doesn't know to turn everything blue. There's other ways to do it, but this is the easiest. Now you can explore the outsides of the water paths in living color! You can also enter them by swimming right through the walls, but you'll usually get confined to the path once you do. It's also worth mentioning that you can't see the tunnels and exteriors if you're too far away. You can follow the lights that line the insides, though, and the tunnels will appear when you approach them. The exteriors are suprisingly detailed for something you weren't really meant to see. But be careful that you don't swim too far up - if you reach the invisible surface, you'll start to fall - usually to your death if you can't hover back to an area with a visible surface (you don't have to hit the surface, you just have to be under it, I think). Other than swimming around the outsides of the tunnels (or inside with an abovewater look), there's not much point to this. All I've actually gotten from is a few bolts that were attracted to me by swimming close enough to the walls. It's fun, though. Finally, if you stuck inside the tunnels, there's one other seam I know of. It's hard to get through, but I've repeated it several times. At the top of the dirt tunnel that you originally get "flushed" down, there's a place where you can swim through and end up outside. When you're in the tunnel, facing the top room, it's on your left, at the very top of the water. Just keep pushing through at that spot, and wiggle around a little. The same place (or near it) once resulted with me in the room, above the water, functioning normally, but with the underwater look and sound effects. Ratchet wasn't wearing his 02 mask or swimming, but it looked like it was underwater. I couldn't repeat it, though. O=---------------------------------------------------------------------=O. So I decided to try this again, and it still worked. I then tested the first force field, and found that it too allows you to walk through it without having to press the buttons. I guess the programmers forgot to program the part where the force field prevents entry until the buttons are pressed. O=---------------------------------------------------------------------=O. [2.24] G24: Miss the Magneboots ] O=---------------------------------------------------------------------=O' Type : Unknown (c'mon, it's really hard to classify what type of glitches these are) Compatibility : NTSC - Yes NTSC Platinum - Yes PAL - Yes PAL Platinum - ? Location : Planet Orxon Credit : newmansage [Untested] [yes, I should've tested it, but I really do not want to start over and do it] I'm not sure if this is a glitch, but if it is I very highly recommend that anyone who attempts to do this glitch (as if they would want to...) to not have auto-save enabled. In fact, they should just take out the Memory card and leave it out. This glitch occurs on Planet Orxon. While playing as Clank, and following the first path, when you get to the end you're SUPPOSED to go and get the Magneboots...but, it is possible to go AROUND them, skipping them entirely. Then you can go and get the Infobot for Pokitaru, and play the game normally. When you get the O2 Mask, you'll need to return to Orxon. Now, I thought that since I did not pick up the Magneboots that you would still play as Clank so that you could get the Magneboots, since to get the Infobot you'll need them. However, this was not the case. Therefore, since the paths that Clank took are closed off until you get the Infobot, the only path I could take was the one to the Premium Nanotech dispenser, and while I could go down and get back to the ship, there was a closed gate in front of the room where you would send the Gadge-Bots into the Bot-Device, and therefore I could not get the Magneboots, which meant that I was stuck. Thankfully, I did not save my game throughout this series of events, so none of my save files had to be replaced. O=---------------------------------------------------------------------=O. So I stood in front of her and just started doing side flips. I did about 8 or 10 side flips, back and forth, and I couldn't believe my eyes... her breasts were moving! I tried some more side flips, and again, couldnot believe what I was seeing...her boobs were getting bigger! This is not a joke folks - try it out yourself. Stand in front of her, and just do side flips back and forth, back flips also work. Do several, and you will see it for yourself. Her breasts get as big as her head! To make them shrink again, crouch under them. This will not work on Edwina, or any other female character.
