There are used to bribe guards, buy weapons, buy gadgets, buy ammo, and anything else that requires money. Bolts can be found in crates throughout the galaxy, in destroyed enemies, or just lying on the ground. There are two types of bolts that can be found. Something that looks like a bolt, which is worth one bolt: /\ / / / /\ / /\ \ \/ \ \ \ \ \/ And something that looks like a nut, which is worth five bolts: ______ / ____ \ / / \ \ | | | | | | | | \ \____/ / \______/ The bolts are somewhat attracted to Ratchet, but after you acquire the Bolt Attractor, they all come to you when your in the general area of them. >=============================================================================< BOLT TRICKS S3 >=============================================================================< These are the bolt tricks that I came up with. The ones that I did not, I give full credit to the original poster. These are listed in the order that you can do them. >-----------------------------------------------------------------------------< GENERAL S301 >-----------------------------------------------------------------------------< If you have enough time, after you go through a level, die and do it over again. If this sounds simple that's because it is. You'd be surprised about how many bolts you can get by doing this. You can do this on any level. Also while your going through the game, don't waste your money on bullets unless you absolutely need them. Because there are tons of item boxes all over every level, and you can restock all of your weapons that way. >-----------------------------------------------------------------------------< KERWAN'S KARS S302 >-----------------------------------------------------------------------------< What you need: Heli-Pack or Thruster pack (Optional) Turbo Controller (Optonial but extremely recommended, if you don't have one then you need a lot of patience) Need to be up to: Kerwan This trick will get you about 9000 bolts an hour. Instructions: 1. Go to Metropolis, Kerwan 2. From your ship, take the left path under the tunnel until you reach the Gadgetron Vendor. 3. Walk up to the railing and jump over it 4. As soon as you go over the railing, pull back in and you should end on a ledge 5. Do the same method again, and you should land in a tunnel 6. Get the gold bolt and all of the boxes 7. Now position yourself in a place where you can look up and and throw your wrench at the ships going by. 8. If you have a turbo controller, tape down the L1 or R1 button, move the cursor to a place where the cars are going by, then tape or weigh down the square button. If you don't have a turbo controller, then tape down the L1 or R1 button, then flip your VCR channel to a show, then watch the show while you repeatedly press the square button. That is not a good way to do it because if you have a turbo controller, you can leave it going while you go to bed. 9. You should hit at least one car every two seconds, and each car has 5 bolts in it. >-----------------------------------------------------------------------------< RILGAR'S RACETRACK S303 >-----------------------------------------------------------------------------< IMPORTANT! YOU CAN ONLY SUCCESSFULLY DO THIS TRICK IF YOU HAVE NOT BEATEN THIS RACE YET. IF YOU HAVE BEATEN THIS RACE, DO NOT DO THIS TRICK BECAUSE IT WILL SCREW UP RILGAR'S RACETRACK3. What you need: Patience Need to be up to: Rilgar Instructions: 1. Go to Blackwater City, Rilgar 2. Go to the Racetrack 3. Enter the race 4. Keep going through the race hitting as many boxes as you can, but never win the race. If you keep losing, the boxes will regenerate 5. Do this for as long as you like, but once you win the race, the boxes will not regenerate after you hit them >-----------------------------------------------------------------------------< RILGAR'S RACETRACK2 S304 >-----------------------------------------------------------------------------< IMPORTANT! YOU CAN ONLY SUCCESSFULLY DO THIS TRICK IF YOU HAVE NOT BEATEN THIS RACE YET. IF YOU HAVE BEATEN THIS RACE THE BOXES WILL NOT REGENERATE BUT YOU CAN STILL DO IT. What you need: Tape Need to be up to: Rilgar Instructions: 1. Go to Blackwater City, Rilgar 2. Go to the Racetrack 3. Enter the race 4. Find a group of boxes along the edge of the track 5. Fall off the track next to them 6. You should regenerate right before the boxes 7. Now find an angle of you analog stick where you can leave it and keep hitting the boxes 8. Once you find it, tape your controller in that position 9. Now you can leave it going while you sleep. >-----------------------------------------------------------------------------< BATALIA'S BOXES S305 >-----------------------------------------------------------------------------< What you need: Trespasser, Patience Need to be up to: Batalia Instructions: 1. Go to Fort Krontos, Batalia 2. Run over to the Trespasser lock on the left building in front of you 3. Equip your Trespasser and solve the puzzle, here is one way: Outer Circle: Right 04 Middle Circle: Right 07 Inner Circle: Right 02 4. Run inside and destroy all of the boxes to get all of the bolts. There are about 1000 bolts inside 5. Return to your ship 6. Go to a different planet 7. Go back to Batalia 8. Repeat until you have enough bolts >-----------------------------------------------------------------------------< QUARTU'S QUICKIES S306 >-----------------------------------------------------------------------------< Need to be up to: Quartu Full credit of this method goes to DL StalkeR: There is a fast way to obtain bolts. 1. Go to the area where you turn into Giant Clank in the robot plant of Planet Quartu. 2. Now, turn into Giant Clank and go near to the circular arena where you previously battled the mechs and the helocopters. 3. Fall off the circular platform that is right before you enter the arena. 4. You should restart at the location that is right before you enter the arena. If you do, press "O" to fire missles at the helocopters to your right. 5. Enter the arena and battle the mechs and helicopters; once you destroy the last few helocopters, hit start and then hit triangle to start the battle all over again. (If you did not restart at the place right before the arena when you fell off the platform, you will have to start the whole thing from the location where you turned into Giant Clank. This makes it slower and lowers your total bolts per hour by about 10,000-20,000 because you have to walk down the platform into the arena.) Keep repeating this method, regardless of where you start, for as long as you like; I did this method for an hour (I started outside the arena for only half an hour, though) and I got 113,355 bolts; so, if i had started outside the arena for the whole hour, my bolts per hour would have increased 5,000-10,000, making it possible to get 125,000 bolts per hour. Tips: *When you are battling the mechs and helocopters inside the arena, use the triangle button attack to take out 2-4 mechs at once; and the "O" button attack is the attack mode I used the least (and, for some strange reson, as soon as I started at the platform before you enter the arena due to falling, I became invincible; again, this makes your bolts per hour increase because you can never be hit by the mechs or helocopters) Once you are finished, go to the starting location where you turned into giant clank and hit triangle to turn back into your regular, small form >-----------------------------------------------------------------------------< KALEBO'S KOOLNESS S307 >-----------------------------------------------------------------------------< IMPORTANT! YOU CAN ONLY SUCCESSFULLY DO THIS TRICK IF YOU HAVE NOT BEATEN THIS RACE YET. IF YOU HAVE BEATEN THIS RACE, DO NOT DO THIS TRICK BECAUSE THE BOXES WILL NOT REGENERATE. What you need: Patience Need to be up to: Kalebo III Instructions: 1. Go to Gadgetron Site, Kalebo III 2. Go to the place to enter the race 3. Enter the race 4. Keep going through the race hitting as many boxes as you can, but never win the race. If you keep losing, the boxes will regenerate 5. Do this for as long as you like, but once you win the race, the boxes will not regenerate after you hit them >-----------------------------------------------------------------------------< KALEBO'S KOOLNESS2 S308 >-----------------------------------------------------------------------------< IMPORTANT! YOU CAN ONLY SUCCESSFULLY DO THIS TRICK IF YOU HAVE NOT BEATEN THIS RACE YET. IF YOU HAVE BEATEN THIS RACE THE BOXES WILL NOT REGENERATE BUT YOU CAN STILL DO IT. What you need: Tape Need to be up to: Kalebo III Instructions: 1. Go to Gadgetron Site, Kalebo III 2. Go to the place to enter the race 3. Enter the race 4. >-----------------------------------------------------------------------------< RILGAR'S RACETRACK3 S309 >-----------------------------------------------------------------------------< IMPORTANT! YOU CAN ONLY SUCCESSFULLY DO THIS TRICK ONCE SO MAKE IT WORTH IT! IF YOU HAVE GONE THROUGH THE RACETRACK ON RILGAR AFTER YOU HAVE BEATEN IT AND DESTROYED EVERY BOX, THEN YOU CAN NOT DO THIS TRICK. What you need: Hologuise, Taunter Need to be up to: Kalebo III Instructions: This trick will get you about 100,000 bolts an hour. 1. Go to Blackwater City, Rilgar 2. Take the Taxi to the Racetrack 3. Equip the hologuise and turn into a robot 4. Then enter the race. You should be Ratchet and able to walk around. 5. Follow the track for a until you reach the BIG jump. It is the jump where the first green ameobas are pacing around. 6. Equip your taunter and let it fire! 7. Position yourself a little after the jump under the platform of boxes in the air. You will know if you are in the right place, becuase a stream of bolts will come down. 8. Once you find the right spot, look straight ahead and weigh the O button down with something. I personally use the corner of my PS2, but you can be creative. 9. Leave this going while you go to bed and you will wake up with over a million bolts (depending on how much you sleep). Here is an alternate way if you have used the boxes on the big jump: Full credit on this way goes to MaxPower: If you have used up all the boxes on the platform after the first big jump, and are looking for more boxes to do the trick with, try standing on the lower platform of the first straightaway after the track's first 2 turns. There are a couple of places on the upper platform where groups of boxes can be found. Position your self even with the boxes (this is kinda hard since you can't look around, but you can do it) and stand below them aiming your taunter in their general direction. Fiddle with your position until you get a stream of bolts coming your way. Sometimes it takes a few minutes to really start throwing bolts at you. >=============================================================================< FAQs S4 >=============================================================================< >=============================================================================< CREDITS S5 >=============================================================================< Full credit to the alternate way of doing Rilgar's Racetrak 3 goes to MaxPower. Full credit to Quartu's Quickies goes to DL StalkeR.
