Introduction [Itrdn] | | | ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Hi there. I bet you're just itching to know what all the Snap cards are and where to get them. How many you need of each and what to do with them when you have them. Well you came to the right place. However, if you're looking for the bathroom, it's down the hall, and there's usually a line. Here, I will endeavor to help you find all the Snap cards in a single playthrough and make all the Snap Trades available. It's not going to walk you through the game to find them, but I do give you a comprehensive list of all the cards and a list of those cards that can possibly be missed on a playthrough. So, let's get started. And let's move fast, I have to go to the bathroom now and the line's only getting longer. _____________________________________________________________________________ | | | 04. Usage [Usge4] | | | ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ The first part contains every card, how many of the card you MUST Snap and every possible location of that card. The second, a list of Snap traders, their wants and rewards. And then some in-depth info on some of the touchier parts of Snap trading and your eventual reward. I've made sure to put all pertinent information in its respective place, even if I had to copy data over many times. I want to make sure you don't have to do a lot of needless searching for your answers. _____________________________________________________________________________ | | | 05. Terms and Guidelines [TrmGd] | | | ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ There are some terms you'll find over and over in the guide. I hope I remember to put them all here. 1. LIMITED - This tag means the monster is in limited supply in the area that this tag follows. Either there's a finite number, or more likely, the monster stops appearing in that area when you finish it. You'll be able to find all but one of these monsters in the Pit Fights (that one being the Malice Soaker) 2. BOSS - Just like it says, this is a one of a kind monster. However most boss Snaps can either be traded for or are fought again in the Pit Fights. If not, it will be listed in the "Limited Time Snaps" section. 3. UMA - This is an UMA, a one of a kind monster, but all UMAs can be obtained through trades too, so don't worry. 4. PF #.# - If you see this, it means the monster can be found in a Pit Fight corresponding to the level.number format you see. This means the number "2.2" refers to the second round of the second set of pit fights, in this case App Beast Med II. Here's a list of the names, including when they can be fought. 1. Basic Beastology - After finishing Roswell. 2. App Beast Med - After Chichen Itza and Rio de Janeiro. 3. Prac Beast Sci - After Aito Cave. 4. Gen Anatomy - Available after visiting The Gate. 5. Beast Grad Thesis - After completing Mao's Pagoda, Hilda's Sushi House and Ricardo's Doll House. 6. Rare/Curious Tales - Becomes available upon completing every other pit fight. 5. Lake Titicaca - It lies between Bolivia and Peru, too bad you can't visit it in the game. _____________________________________________________________________________ | | | 06. Snap List [SnpLt] | | | ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ This is a comprehensive list on what each Snap Card is named, where it can be found, and how many of it you will need in the course of the game to make all the trades and have one left over to get into Purgatory. Entries are listed in the following format: ### Name of Card x{# Snaps Needed}.....................(Locations to Find) Where "###" is obviously the number of the card, followed by the name of the card. The number after "x" is the BARE MINIMUM number of cards you will have to Snap of the monster when battling them in reality or in Pit Fights in order to make every trade and retain one of each card to enter Purgatory. Finally, every place you can possibly obtain the card is in parentheses. 001 Thug x01...........(New York: Chelsea-LIMITED, PF 1.1, PF 1.2, PF 2.4) 002 Fat Thug x01...............(New York: If you only take the number of Snaps I list, you will EVENTUALLY end up with one of every card after all the trades, but taking one more than the listed number will ensure that you ALWAYS have one of that card on you no matter what. This happens for most boss fights and the horribly convoluted Sushi House Snaps. _____________________________________________________________________________ | | | 07. This means that if you don't Snap them while fighting them, you will never have another chance to get them. They can't be traded for and don't appear in Pit Fights. Included is how many of them you will need, which is mostly one of each. 059 Malice Killer x01......................................(The Gate-BOSS) 065 Malice Soaker x01............................(Beyond the Gate-LIMITED) 067 Malice Gilbert x01..............................(Beyond the Gate-BOSS) 068 Lady x01..................................(Beyond the Gate-FINAL BOSS) 069 Malice Unbral x01.........................(Beyond the Gate-FINAL BOSS) 103 Torment Gluttony x01.......................(Purgatory: Green-LIMITED)* 104 Gnawing Gluttony x01.......................(Purgatory: Green-LIMITED)* 105 Twisted Gluttony x01.......................(Purgatory: Green-LIMITED)* 106 Great Hunger x01..............................(Purgatory: Green-BOSS)* 107 Torment Greed x01...........................(Purgatory: Blue-LIMITED)* 108 Gnawing Greed x01...........................(Purgatory: Blue-LIMITED)* 109 Twisted Greed x01...........................(Purgatory: Blue-LIMITED)* 110 Avarice x01....................................(Purgatory: Blue-BOSS)* 111 Torment Lust x01.............................(Purgatory: Red-LIMITED)* 112 Gnawing Lust x01.............................(Purgatory: Red-LIMITED)* 113 Twisted Lust x01.............................(Purgatory: Red-LIMITED)* 114 Impure Thought x01..............................(Purgatory: Red-BOSS)* 115 Torment Sloth x01.........................(Purgatory: Orange-LIMITED)* 116 Gnawing Sloth x01.........................(Purgatory: Orange-LIMITED)* 117 Twisted Sloth x01.........................(Purgatory: Orange-LIMITED)* 118 Decadence x01................................(Purgatory: Orange-BOSS)* 119 Torment Pride x01.........................(Purgatory: Yellow-LIMITED)* 120 Gnawing Pride x01.........................(Purgatory: Yellow-LIMITED)* 121 Twisted Pride x01.........................(Purgatory: Yellow-LIMITED)* 122 Arrogance x01................................(Purgatory: Yellow-BOSS)* 123 Torment Anger x01.........................(Purgatory: Purple-LIMITED)* 124 Gnawing Anger x01.........................(Purgatory: Purple-LIMITED)* 125 Twisted Anger x01.........................(Purgatory: Purple-LIMITED)* 126 Rage x01.....................................(Purgatory: Purple-BOSS)* 127 Envious Jealousy x01.................................(Purgatory-BOSS)* *See "Purgatory" section for more information and help. +=============================================================================+ | | | B) Panoramic Lens [PnLns] | | | +=============================================================================+ This accessory for Johnny is the absolute best thing you can get to help you with the Snap sidequest. You can get it from Lenny in New York: Upper West Side anytime after entering Las Vegas the first time. If you haven't done the Vacuum math problem, you will have to do that first. Lenny will tell you that the infamous "Tinkerbell" has struck again, this time sending two assassins to shed you of this mortal coil... with MATH! The first one can be found in New York: Times Square. He's passed the shop guys, wearing a yellow cowboy hat. He'll give you a quiz where you have to answer ten simple math questions in ten seconds each. All of his questions are addition or subtraction, and you should have no problem finding the answer to any one of them in ten seconds. You may mess up, but he only has about twenty questions to choose from, and you'll see the same ones over and over. You press X, O, Triangle or Square to answer, and the answer changes its position whenever the question is asked, so make sure you hit the right one. The second assassin is in New York: Harlem, which will now appear on your map. He's in the alley and will approach you automatically when you draw near. His questions are all multiplication or division, there are no mixed problems so you don't have to worry about order of operations. Just work them from left to right. The setup for his quiz is the same. When you finish, he'll give you the Panoramic Lens. When working on snapping, you can equip the Lens to Johnny, and instead of taking one picture at a time, he will get a picture of every monster on the battlefield at once. This means that, if there are two of a monster on the feild, you will get two cards from taking the picture. +=============================================================================+ | | | C) Janus [Jns8B] | | | +=============================================================================+ Here's a sneaky, little guy who throws most people for a loop: 066 Janus x02............................................(Beyond the Gate) He's probably the only monster Beyond the Gate that you won't run into unless you're looking for him. He appears in the third section of Beyond the Gate (where there are three Malice Soakers). I've usually found him on the West side of the area, close to where the two Malice Soakers on that side are. Get two snaps of him at least. +=============================================================================+ | | | D) Purgatory [Prgty] | | | +=============================================================================+ Your penultimate reward in this crazy sidequest is access to Purgatory, which Masatoshi sort of tricks you into visiting. When you have 115 unique cards (that's every one but the last two bosses (68, 69) and all the Purgatory monsters and bosses (103-127)), go talk to Masatoshi to recieve the Holy Water and a hint on how to open Purgatory. Quick Side Note: You do not have to make all the Snap trades to get into Purgatory, but you will obviously have to trade for rare Snaps at the very least. Any unfinished Masatoshi trades will become unavailable until after you finish Purgatory. For all you New Game+ people, the Purgatory quest isn't opened until you reach The Gate. Purgatory is actually located in the Garland Residence. You take the Holy Water and sprinkle it on a painting in your dad's study, above his fireplace. But first, you have to be fully prepared: - I advise at least level 55 on Johnny. He'll be alone for the first part of the dungeon and it only gets harder as you find your comrades. Level 50-55 should suffice for them if you have good planning skills. - Stock up on HP, MP (and a few SP) restoring items. Roots should be enough if you have a lot of them. But Extracts are sold in the Ninja Hideaway and you should expect to have to use some. - The Warning Device from the quiz in Rio de Janiero. - The Demon Ward from Mao's fourth Pagoda level (and the Sake ability you get from said fight for the last battle). - Both Resurrection Stellars. - All four Crucifixes. - One or both Flare Brooches (the final battle is very long). - Tirawa's Sanlittobell (and to a lesser extent, Sun Flare). - Coral Pendant (if using the Key Trick below). - When you get to the painting, take some time and unequip everyone but Johnny. Take off Equipment (make SURE the Demon Ward and Warning Device are free), take off Stellar Charts (or you won't be able to use anything the others have equipped), take off any Ring Customizing items (not important, but helps to increase your own power). When you first enter the painting, you are faced with six doors. Behind these doors is a maze, and each of your friends is at the end of the maze corresponding to the color of their element (see below). After saving a friend, you go down a level and have to go after another one. There are no save points until the last person is saved, so be careful. Here is where to find each person: Green - Hilda Blue - Mao Red - Ricardo Orange - Natan Yellow - Frank Purple - Shania Before I forget, these are the weaknesses of the bosses by color: Green - P-Def Down Blue - Evasion Down Red - P-Atk Down Orange - Slow Yellow - Sp-Def Down Purple - Sp-Atk Down Some of them have uses, but I haven't found much use for them, they all die pretty fast. The order of the mazes is always the same no matter which door you go in. So the paths I will list below will work for your mazes no matter which door you choose first. The choice is ultimately up to you, but I will say that Shania's Tirawa form is extremely useful here. Her ability to steal enemy HP and spread it over your party and her Sanlittobell buff make her a must as soon as possible. Also, Ricardo's MP regen songs make him a valuable asset up until the seventh boss, because then you only ever have to refill his MP. Know this now, the last person you save will be unavailable during the last boss fight. So save whoever you know you won't be using last. Anyways, put on your Demon Ward and Warning Device. Getting caught alone in the first maze is very bad so consider running if things go sour. To find the first person go: North--North When you see the boss, put on your Crucifix and anything else you want. A Flare Brooch is recommended for staying in Awaker for long times. The first boss has 900 HP and is actually quite easy, remember to Snap him. After he is done- DO NOT GO NORTH AND DOWN THE STAIRS! I will explain in a moment. With the first person free, take the time to equip them, their rings and their Stellar Chart (except Shania). Make sure to put a Warning Device on and from this point through the rest of Purgatory, I will assume that you are always wearing a Crucifix on all your active characters. It's extremely advised that you do. Anyways, head out into the hall South of the boss room and search for monsters until you have Snaps of all three types in this maze. After that, you can head North through the boss room and down the stairs. Now you have another six doors, but one of them is fused shut. Put on the Demon Ward and make your choice. The second maze can be solved like this: East---North--West--> West---West---North Before fighting the second boss, you may want to roam the hall outside for Snaps and to fill your Stock guage. When you're ready, get battle gear on and go in. This one has 2000 HP and is slightly harder, don't forget to Snap. When the person is saved and you have all the Snaps from the maze, head downstairs again. Remember to re-equip your new character. From here on out, use the same pattern. When running the mazes, always have a Demon Ward and Warning Device on. Fill your stock for the boss, get his Snap and kill him. Readjust your party, if needed. Get any more Snaps you need and move on. Here is the information for the rest of the mazes: Path through the third maze: North--North--North--East--> East---South--East---North Boss: 3000 HP Path through the fourth maze: West---West---North--North-> West---West---North--West--> South--West---North--North Boss: 4000 HP Path through the fifth maze: North--East---South--East--> North--East---North--North-> West---West---North--West--> North Boss: 5000 HP Path through the sixth maze: East---North--North--West--> North--East---North--East--> East---East---South--South-> East---East---South--West--> South--West---West---North Boss: 6000 HP After you rescue the final person, they will run off. Before you run after them, go back South into the maze to refill your stock. You'll want to have some saved for the final battle. Head down the stairs when you're ready to find a sight for sore eyes- A SAVE POINT! AND A "JUST US GUYS" SHOP!! AND THEY SELL THIRD KEYS FOR 30,000!!! Get ready, this next fight is a doozy: _____________________________________ | | | Envious Jealousy | | HP: 12,000 MP: 999 | | Exp: 99,999 Cash: 9,999 | | Soul: 500 Cal: 0 | | Item: Seventh Key Weakness: None | | Airborne | | | ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Don't forget to Snap him! Or you will be very sorry! My recommended party is Johnny (wearing Flare Brooch), Shania (good idea for Flare Brooch too), Frank and Mao, but I play a mainly physical game. Make sure Johnny and Frank have Resurrection attached to their Charts, and you'll have four people who can Resurrect at full power, one of whom can do it to the other three all at once. Another good option is to trade Frank for Curvy Hilda with Resurrect and Full Bloom. But you will be using a lot of MP just healing by Resurrecting. First off, NEVER use any sort of buffing spell, like Arc Gale, Sanlittobell or even Entrance and Energy Charge (you shouldn't be using Pink Bat anyways). He has Lost Progress which cancels the buff and brings his turn to the front immediately. Any of your characters should be able to weather one attack by EJ, but not two. I usually let a hurt character die and healed by Resurrecting them. It's cheaper than using Cure All every hit. If more than one character is hurt. Heal the one that is further from death. He attacks mainly with Crests and Combo Magic, but throws in a strong physical attack sometimes. Toss physical attacks at him constantly, doing single combos (remember that having high affinity with the person before you in a combo makes you stronger) that end in Strike draining techniques if you can. Johnny should be in Awaker and Shania in Tirawa for the attack boosts they get. Keep chipping away at him, Resurrecting and replenishing SP (Tatan'ka's Howling is great) when needed. At 3000 HP, he will banish one of your party members. If it's Shania or Johnny, keep attacking with the one that's still there and use the others for support and the occasional hit. If it's one of the others, keep hitting with Shania and Johnny and use the third for support. Though you may need to Cancel Johnny and use him as support too. You should have this sewn up quickly. Your prize is the extremely powerful skill for Johnny, Ether Purge. However if you fail against EJ, you will be expelled from Purgatory. You can go all the way through the dungeon again, which is a great way to gain levels fast. But I recommend that you just load back up at the save before EJ and try again. KEY TRICK: If you have a lot of Keys laying around, this is the perfect time to use them. If you have a lot of money, buy some Third Keys from "Just Us Guys" and use them here. There is a trick to using keys, though. if you put your ring on the Gamble type before the battle and use a Key during it, all you have to do is hit the strike area once in order for all the hits to be carried out as Strikes. This is especially useful with a Coral Pendant. Try putting one person on Gamble, loading them with Strike Expands and using them at the end of combos after someone they have high affinity with. You'll see EJ drop fast. ETERNAL KEY TRICK (New Game+ Only): This is exactly the same as the previous trick, but uses the Eternal Key you got from Masatoshi. Put your ring on Gamble, load up on Strike Expands (put on a Coral Pendant) and use the Eternal Key. Hit that Strike zone once and your character will go nuts, bringing down EJ by himself/herself. This is a great way to skyrocket on your score sheet as well. +=============================================================================+ | | | E) New Game+ Preparedness [NG+Pr] | | | +=============================================================================+ Here's a quick list giving you the basics of what you'll need when you start a New Game+ in order to make every trade. You can get some of the required snaps before you meet the trader who wants them, but if you have all of these cards plus at least one of all those unlisted, you won't have to take any snaps on your second playthrough. 004 Sergei x04.................................(Arkham University, PF 1.1) 005 Gagu x04...................................(Arkham University, PF 1.1) 007 Tonakh FAQs [FAQs9] | | | ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ 01: What's the reward for the Snap sidequest? Besides the obvious access to Purgatory and amazing Ether Purge skill, you will get an Eternal Key from Masatoshi for having all 142 cards. Obviously, you have to be playing New Game+ to have the cards from the final two bosses. 02: How do you get to Purgatory: Have at least one of the 115 Unique cards you can have before finishing the final boss of the Gate and the 25 in Purgatory itself. Talk to Masatoshi in Chicago. He gives you Holy Water. Take it to your father's study in Garland Residence and sprinkle it on the picture above the fireplace. Make sure you're ready though. See "Purgatory" section for more. 03: Is it possible to get every card in one playthrough? Yes, it's also very easy. The game is very forgiving, and there are very few cards that only appear once. See "Limited Time Snaps" for more. 04: Where is Card ###? Check the section "Snap Cards". 05: How do I get 075 Tinny Lion?/How do I get Pit Fight 6.1? You have to have completed all the previous Pit Fights. Which means doing most the sidequests. When you get to him, remember he's susceptible to Apathy and Poison. Hit him with Apathy right away, he'll kill one person, but then he'll be tame. You can get as many shots as you want. To kill him, hit him with Poison, then Deadly Poison. Keep Apathy on him and he'll kill himself. 06: How do I get Snap ###? Johnny's not in the battle! You'll have to trade for it or Pit Fight for it later. 07: How do I Snap during a Combo? You can't, Johnny can only Snap when doing a Normal or Double attack. He can only Snap in a Combo if he comes last. _____________________________________________________________________________ | | | 10. Submissions/Questions [Sbmsn] | | | ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ First off, send any questions or strategy submission to: gjackson1983 (at) Yahoo (dot) com Title your e-mail "Shadow Hearts 3 Question" or something to that effect so I don't ignore it. If you have any tips or pointers for certain cards, I may put them in a section of their own (Like the "Janus" section), or if you have a better walkthrough for Purgatory or Envious Jealousy, I could use it. If you make ASCII art, a new title would be fabulous. I can't make the stuff. Remember that sending me anything for the guide, questions or strategy, you are giving me permission to use it in my guide. Also, I reserve the right to clean up spelling and grammar errors to make a submission readable. I will also remove any cursing I feel is in bad taste. I swear like a sailor in reality (military man), but there's a time and a place. _____________________________________________________________________________ | | | 11.
