The subject this time around is an early title in the fighting game genre--Violence Fight. This game has been known for not only it's cheap A.I., but also for butchering the English Language at the same time. This guide will give you detailed information of the four player characters, or "PCs", plus detailed strategies for each of the game's six rounds, not including the two bonus rounds you'll be facing as well. Without further ado, let's get it on! 2) BASIC CONTROLS If you've never seen an actual Violence Fight arcade machine, you'll more than likely don't know the controls. There are three buttons-- Punch, Kick and Jump. The Punch button, of course, allows your character to throw his fist at his opponent. The Kick button will allow you to karate-kick your opponent. The Jump button is unheard of in a 1vs1 fighting game but should state the obvious-- It allows your PC to jump. This is vital for getting out of tricky pincher attacks by the opponent. 3) ADVANCE CONTROLS Punch button (while opponent is struggling to get up)--Throw your opponent to the ground for some damage. Punch button (when near crate, barrel, etc)--Pick up said item. Press again to throw it at your opponent to slow him down. This does no damage at all. Punch + Kick--Allows the PC to duck. Note that holding down those buttons will not allow the PC to keep in ducking stance. Use this only to get out of trick situations in the corner. Jump + Punch--Executes PC's Special Punch Move. See character list for detailed moves Jump + Kick--Execute's PC's Special Kick Move. See character list for detailed moves. 4) RULES OF PLAY Before you go around beating the living tar out of your opponent, take the time to go over a few set rules. 4.1) OBJECTIVE OF GAME Each match consists of up to three rounds. The timer will initially be set at 100 seconds, or 1 minute, 40 seconds. Your objective is to get your opponent's life meter to zero to win a round. Winning two out of three rounds will win the match. 4.2) HEALTH COUNT Each brawler begins the round with 100 Health points (alot more if you use the cheats function of MAME or a GameShark for Taito Legends 2 colleection for PS2 and Xbox). Each successful blow to your opponent will reduce his Health gradually, based on certain factors. 4.3) ROBERT JOHNSON SCORES A POINT OVER For each round won, you gain one point towards winning the match. If time runs out in a round, the round will end in a draw. If two of three rounds end in a draw, the brawler with only one point will be the winner. If the point totals are tied at the end of all three rounds, the match ends in a draw. 4.4) AT THE END OF THE MATCH If you get more points than your opponent, you'll continue on to the next gameplay round, or "stage" of the game. If your opponent has more points than you, your game is over and you'll have the option of continuing the game, at the cost of one additional quarter. If the match ends in a draw against the CPU, it will be the same as a loss, meaning you're screwed out of another quarter. If the match ends in a draw of a 2-player match, either player will have to insert another quarter to continue the single-player campaign. 5) CHARACTER LIST This list will follow a simple format: 5.#) CHARACTER NAME HERE BIRTHDATE: MM/DD/19YY BIRTHPLACE: Insert town here. BIO: Biography and profile here. SPECIAL PUNCH MOVE: Move name and description here. SPECIAL KICK MOVE: Move name and description here. 5.1) BAD BLUE A.K.A BAT BLUE BIRTHDATE: 06/11/1938 BIRTHPLACE: Los Angeles, CA BIO: Bad Blue is the defending champion of the Violent Fight tournament. He will do his best to keep his crown as the best brawler in the U.S.A. As far as attributes are concerned, Mr. Blue is the most well-balanced of the four characters, with his kick at 80, his punch at 70, his jump at 55 and his speed at 50. That makes him an excellent PC for beginners or newcomers to the game. SPECIAL PUNCH MOVE: Star Dust Punch--This punch emits a blue aura, much like that of a shining star, blind-siding opponents as well as damaging them. SPECIAL KICK MOVE--Rolling Kick--Mr. Blue does a jump kick and rolls into a mid-air somersaut, with the kick landing in the opponent's face. 5.2) BEN SMITH BIRTHDATE: 02/08/1935 BIRTHPLACE: Carson City, NV BIO: Ben is a former U.S. Marine, which explains the elite fighting skills he had gained. During his career, he was nicknamed "Fierce Eagle", due to his speed and reflexes. While Ben is lacking in most atributes, he does excels in the speed category, with a rating of 100. This allows him to do evasive manuevers around most opponents. He is good PC to use if you want to do ringside tactics during your matches. SPECIAL PUNCH MOVE: Machine Gun Punch--When executed, Ben throws at least 100 punches per second, much like that of bullets in a machine gun, hence the move's name. SPECIAL KICK MOVE: Tornado Kick--Ben does a jump kick and spins around in a 360 degree angle, hitting opponents in the jaw. 5.3) LICK JOE BIRTHDATE: 10/25/1925 BIRTHPLACE: Aardmor, OK BIO: Joe is a former pro wrestler whose career was cut short due to mass homicide. He was kicked out of the TWF (Taito Wrestling Federation) for killing 13 opponents during sanctioned matches. He enters the tournament hoping to redeem himself of his past sins. Joe's Kick and Jump attributes are average at best. His best strength comes with with punching ability, which is rated at a whopping 100. His sole flaw is his speed, which is rated at a snail's pace of only 15. If you're considering playing as Joe, try to bring an all-out offensive towards your opponents. SPECIAL PUNCH MOVE: Atomic Chop--Joe jumps in the air and does a karate chop to an opponent, hitting him in the face. SPECIAL KICK MOVE: Drop Kick--As it's name suggest, Joe jumps in the air and does a kick using both of his feet dropping onto the opponent's head, for some serious damage. 5.4) LEE CHEN BIRTHDATE: 07/04/1935 BIRTHPLACE: Miami, FL BIO: Although a natural-born U.S. citizen, Lee spent many of his summers of childhood visiting China with is father, learning the skills of Kung Fu. Lee enters the tournament hoping to prove his skills to thousands of fans. Lee's expertise is in kick attacks, which his rating is at 100. Of course, by focusing only on kicks, his punch attribute is at a paltry 15. His other two stats are average at best. SPECIAL PUNCH MOVE: Mantis Hands--Lee goes into a stance that is similar to that of a preying mantis and sends a punch to the opponent's face. SPECIAL KICK MOVE: Whirlwind kick--Lee jumps into the air and does a backflip, while a kick lands right into the opponent's face. 6) ROUND-BY-ROUND STRATEGIES Read this section carefully, as you're going to learn at least one way to exploit the A.I. in this game. It will take quite a few tries and continues to master this exploit, but is worth the time spent putting it into practice. As for format, it goes like this: 6.# ROUND #--PC VS. (INSERT OPPONENT'S NAME HERE) DESCRIPTION: What your opponent is like. OPPONENT'S MOVES: What to expect from your opponent. This only applies to sections 6.3 and 6.5-6.8 of this guide. VENUE: The location of where the current fight takes place. STRATEGIES: strategies that, with enough practice, will make the fight much easier. 6.1) ROUND 1--PC VS. PC DESCRIPTION: who your opponent is depends on which character you chose at the start of the game. If you picked Bad Blue, you'll fight Ben Smith this round. If someonelse, you'll have Bad Blue as your first opponent. VENUE: The Warehouse--This is an abandoned warehouse in which battles take place. It even comes with red white and blue banners, which gives this venue it's patriotic vibe. STRATEGIES: With this starting match, try different fighting tactics to get used to te controls. Of course, if you don't want to practice your skills, you could always beat the living tar out of your opponent. Expect very little problems with this match. 6.2) ROUND 2--PC VS. PC DESCRIPTION: If you've picked Ben Smith as your character, you'll face Lick Joe. If anyone else, you' take on Ben Smith in this match. VENUE: Construction site--This is a construction site in which the fight takes place on the top pipes. Due to the nature of the pipes, moving up or down is not possible in this venue. STRATEGIES: The opponent in this match is a little bit tougher than the first, but can be delt with just the same. Lay the smackdown on him, but remember to jump back to create some breathing room, so your opponent doesn't go homicidal on you. 6.3) BONUS ROUND--PC VS. TIGER DESCRIPTION: This is a round which tests your skills. The opponent you'll be facing a tiger, of all creatures on this planet. OPPONENT'S MOVES: Being a wild cat, the tiger only has one move--The pounce. However, that pounce is very dangerous, dealing a ton of damage to your PC. In the Bonus Round, you and the Tiger begin with only 50 health and the timer is reduced in half. Should be be victorious (which I doubt will happen), you'll have the opportunity to increase one of two attributes--Punch or Kick. If you lose to the tiger, you'll get no bonus. VENUE: The Tiger Pit--This is the venue where you and the tiger face off. The crowd is seated safely above the ring, which means you're lunch if you don't beat the tiger. STRATEGIES: There are two ways to defeat the tiger, but it's going to require that you use either Bad Blue or Lick for this. For the Lick Joe strategy, which was discovered by a YouTube member, see section 6.6. For the Bad Blue Strategy, get extremely close to the tiger and mash the Kick button to attack with a knee kick. Keep repeating the pattern until the Tiger is dead. 6.4) ROUND 3--PC VS. PC DESCRIPTION: The final of the PC vs. PC matches, at least for now. If you've picked Lee Chen, you'll face Lick Joe. If anyone else, you'll fight Lee Chen. VENUE: The Rooftop--The battle will take place on top a apartment complex, with fans in the taller buildings watching on. There are no throwable objects this time around. STRATEGIES: It appears the A.I. has gotten into all-win mode, as you'll surely be beaten to a pulp, unless you master this exploit! As you can imagine, the movement of the A.I. depends on your position of the ring. Notice that if you get a little bit diagonal away from your opponent, he turns slightly around. If you attack him in this position, he'll either temporarly flinch, go on the attack or move inline with you, setting up an attack for himself. The best way to exploit that is when the round beings, move up all the way to the top side of the ring, wait until your opponent is a character's sprite away from you, down downward slightly and move on up for the attack. If the opponent flinches, quickly move up and down and attack again. If he starts punching or kicking, move upwards to the top and wait until he gets in line with you and repeat the process. If he does his special move, immediatly jump back to the top and wait for him to come to your side While this tactic is not 100% foolproof, it is the best tactic I can offer in this guide, so practice it at all times. 6.5) ROUND 4--PC VS. RON MAX DESCRIPTION: This is the first match of the game where you'll fight one of two NPC bosses. Ron is a stock farmer from Texas who has a head that's as hard as steel. He wears a white shirt, blue jeans and red suspenders. Notice that there are fans throwing empty beer bottles into the ring, causing unnecessary setbacks to your plans to win this match. OPPONENT'S MOVES: Asides from his standard allotment of punches and kicks, he has two special moves that he'll spam to no end. The bull charge is where he charges at you, using his head as a battering ram. It does a ton of damage to your PC, so watch out. His other special move is a divebomb attack in which Ron dives head-first into you, resulting in a ton of damage. Notice that if he connects a regular hit on you, he'll use the bull charge just you're getting up, resulting in an El Cheapo combo that'll make even UMK3's Nightwolf's shoulder ram look like a water bomb. VENUE: The Warehouse, Part 2--This is the same area as in Round 1, but with fan interference mixed in by means of empty beer bottles being thrown onto the ring. STRATEGIES: If you think you can use the exlpoit I mentioned in the last section to get an easy victory against Ron, think again--He'll use his special moves not only as a means to get out of the exploit, but also as a stall tactic, eating valuable time off the clock. To Make matters even worse, a fan can throw a beer bottle at Ron while you're exploiting him, causing him to get out of exploit. Nevertheless, use the aforementioned exploit as much as possible. As to how to win against Ron, since most rounds will end a draw, as mentioned earlier in the Rules of Play section, try to win one round against Mr. Max and avoid his special moves as much as possible, while eating up the clock in order to end the other two rounds in a draw. Since you'll only need 1 point to win the match, take advantage of this rule as much as possible. 6.6) BONUS ROUND 2--PC VS. TIGER DESCRIPTION: This is the same match as earlier, but with an albino tiger being the opponent this time around. OPPONENT'S MOVES: If decided to start reading with this section of the guide, please refer to sectoion 6.3 for the complete move list for the tiger. VENUE: The Tiger Pit--You've more than likely been here once before in your playthrough, so this might be familiar to you. STRATEGIES: Before we get to strategy, advanced thanks goes to EricXTest on YouTube, who discovered the Lick Joe strategy of defeating the tiger Keep in mind that the Albino tiger will be alot more aggressive than the regular one, meaning the Bad Blue strategy will be completely nerfed. Get to a far enough distance away from the tiger to where when it jump attacks you, execute Joe's Drop Kick, which will do a ton of damage. Repeat the pattern until the tiger is dead 6.7) ROUND 5--PC VS. TONY WON DESCRIPTION: First off, if a certain actor sees this character, he'll not only pity the fool who designed him, but also sue Taito for trademark infringement. To be discrete as possible, he's a tall New Yorker who'll do anything to win the match, even if it mean breaking every rule in the book. Also note he's the leader of the Black Will 'O gang, the organization who set up the Violence Fight tournament in the very first place. OPPONENT'S MOVES: Tony defies every precept of this game by having not two, but three special moves. The first of them is a jump kick that will reach you even from a sprite's distance away, causing serious damage to not only your health, but also you fragile psyche. Tony's second special move is a makeshift chain whip, which comes out of nowhere and also hits you at the same length as the jump kick, but does less damage to you. His third and final special move is techinally a throw move, but has special move properties just the same. He grabs you by the face, crushes it in and throws you onto the ground. This move can do up to 20 points of damage, turning the match into a one-side affair. Fortunatly, you can recognize this move when he tries to grab in the air. VENUE: The Junkyard--This is just your average garbage dump, but can be used as a makeshift ring by using old car tires as the ropes. Notice that the fans from the second Warehouse stage have followed you here, trying their best to avenge Ron Max's defeat by throwing empty beer bottles into the ring. STRATEGIES: While Tony is not as hard to win against as Ron was, he's still annoying just the same. Also note that the glass beer bottle being chucked by the fans can hit Tony and get him out of your exploit. As for winning, exploit his A.I. and throw your best attacks at him, even if it mean knocking him down every once in awhile. Unfortunately, Mr. Won doesn't flinch as much as previous opponents did, so try getting attacks in between his attacks. Also, make sure he doesn't pin you into the corner, otherwise it's lights' out for you. If the heat gets to you, jump back to gain some much neede breathing room. 6.8) ROUND 6--MIRROR MATCH DESCRIPTION: As the name of this section suggest, it is a mirror match of your character vs. your character, with the A.I. controlling the other you. The game refers to the clone as your "younger brother". OPPONENT'S MOVES: Since this is a mirror match, your opponent will have the same moves as you. Consider this as a match against yourself. VENUE: Skyscraper Rooftop--The match takes place on the rooftop of a towering skyscraper. Because the venue is on top of the tallest building of Los Angeles, the beer bottle- throwing fans will have a very hard time getting seats to this event just to heckle you. STRATEGIES: I have good news and even better news: The good news is that your opponents attributes will be the same as yours. The even better news is that the A.I. has been intentionally dumbed-down, which means you'll have a much easier time exploiting his A.I. To that extent, exploit the A.I of your opponent as much as possible and bring out your best attacks against him. 7) IN CLOSING I hope you've enjoyed this guide as much I've had creating and writting it. With enough practice, you'll be able to own even the toughest of opponents out there.
