You obviously need to press Circle button to start the demo, but before that, read the 'help' topics, "The Game's Objective" and "On Field Control". Press Circle Button to continue. From now on, you can pause with 'Start Button' and you also have the options to either Skip with Triangle Button or press Start Button again to cancel. - Music starts - - Screen shows E.S Asher, from the background picture previously - - English words: Namco Presents - - E.S Asher launches out - - E.S Asher flying in air - - Fly through under the ship it just launched out from - - English words: A Monolith Soft Ware Inc. No clue. For next or previous page, you can use L1 or R1 - For 'Ether', Select E.S Asher, but there is none anyway, let alone E.S Asher got 0/0 EP - With 'Skills', you can only select chaos since you can't select Canaan - chaos is at Level 4, it seems. With HP 232/232 and EP at 24/24, and: - Class Level: 1 - C.Pt: 1200 - Learned S: 0 - S.Pt: 2400 - Within 'Skills', there are 'Skill' and 'Tutorial' - On to 'Skill', it seems you have Routes. Start with Class Level, chaos has: - Level 1: PASS (License) - Level 2: ---- (License) - Level 3: ---- (License) - Level 4: ---- (License) - Therefore, only Level 1. To continue the Route, you don't select with Circle while highlighting 'Level 1', instead, you press Right on the D-Pad. To go back the Route, obviously you press Left on the D-Pad - So you are at: >Lv1> - Then you quickly have Class A to H at this route, each requires 300 C.Pt to learn - To learn the skills within that link, you must use the 300 C.Pt then you can use S.Pt to learn what's within - You can freely view what's within each link by pressing right or left with the D-Pad - When you've learned 4 Skills at Level 1, doesn't matter the links, you will PASS Level 2 - Now, within each Class, from A to H, you have 4 Skills, which needs a fixed amount of S.Pt to learn. I'll detail out each Class right now: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Class A - Medica (requires 200 S.Pt) - Refresh L (requires 150 S.Pt) - Poison R (requires 100 S.Pt) - Black R (requires 100 S.Pt) - Class B - Attacker (requires 200 S.Pt) - Defender (requires 200 S.Pt) - STR + 2 (requires 100 S.Pt) - VIT + 2 (requires 150 S.Pt) - Class C - ???? (requires ---- S.Pt) - Memory (requires 100 S.Pt) - EATK + 2 (requires 150 S.Pt) - EDEF + 2 (requires 150 S.Pt) - Class D - Shave Eye (requires 150 S.Pt) - Break Sensor (requires 150 S.Pt) - DEX + 2 (requires 150 S.Pt) - EVA + 2 (requires 150 S.Pt) - Class E - Ice Blast (requires 200 S.Pt) - Flare Blast (requires 200 S.Pt) - Thunder Blast (requires 200 S.Pt) - Aura Blast (requires 200 S.Pt) - Class F - Shave Power (requires 150 S.Pt) - Shave Body (requires 150 S.Pt) - Shave Brain (requires 150 S.Pt) - Shave Aura (requires 150 S.Pt) - Class G - Break Arm (requires 150 S.Pt) - Break Armor (requires 150 S.Pt) - Break Beam (requires 150 S.Pt) - Break Shield (requires 150 S.Pt) - Class H - ???? (requires ---- S.Pt) - ???? (requires ---- S.Pt) - ???? (requires ---- S.Pt) - ???? (requires ---- S.Pt) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - For 'Tutorial', Circle is advance, 'X' is back to start and ends Tutorial by Triangle - Both Class Point and Skill Point are gained after Character Battle - For 'Tech', you will have to choose E.S Asher, then you have 'Normal Attack' and 'Death Blow' - For Normal Attack, E.S Asher has 3 - Square Button for Shield Lancer - Triangle Button for Gatling - Geigeki(Ambush Attack) for Gatling - Each attack also has data - for Shield Lancer - Command: Square - Target: Single - Type: Physical - Range: Kinsetsu (Close/adjacent) - Attribute: Hit - Effect: None (The game didn't say anything so I assume NONE) - Sub Pilot: None - for Gatling - Command: Triangle - Target: Single - Type: Physical - Range: Enkaku (Far/Distant) - Attribute: Pierce - Effect: None (The game didn't say anything so I assume NONE) - Sub Pilot: None - for Gatling (Geigeki) - Command: Geigeki (Ambush Attack) - Target: Single - Type: Physical - Range: Enkaku (Far/Distant) - Attribute: Pierce - Effect: None (The game didn't say anything so I assume NONE) - Sub Pilot: None - For Death Blow, or Sepcial Attack, E.S Asher has 2: - Shoot Buster, requires 100% Charge - Ice Wind, requires 200% Charge - Like Normal Attack, it's also got Data - for Shoot Buster - Sub Pilot: chaos - Charge: 100% - Target: Single - Type: Ether - Range: Enkaku (Far/Distant) - Attribute: B - Effect: None (The game didn't say anything so I assume NONE) - for Ice Wind - Sub Pilot: chaos - Charge: 200% - Target: Single - Type: Ether - Range: Enkaku (Far/Distant) - Attribute: Cold - Effect: None (The game didn't say anything so I assume NONE) - As you can see, Death Blow, or Special Attack, strictly depend on the Sub Pilot - For 'Status', you will also select E.S Asher - There you see full stats of E.S Asher - Level: 20 - HP: 13442/13442 - EP: 0/0 - Next Level: 4410 - Total Exp: 0 (It means E.S Asher begins at Level 20) - Pow: 362 - Arm: 330 - Dex: 39 - Eva: 33 - Agl: 7 - Eatk: 270 - Edef: 222 - You can also equip Accessories, but the party has none right now - For 'Party', you have 'Battle Formation' and 'Leader Change' - For 'Battle Formation', you can select E.S Asher and chaos. If you select E.S Asher, you can't do anything, obviously, you need more than one mech in the party. And right now, within this demo, you only have E.S Asher - If you select chaos, you can remove him to one of the four slots to the right. But, when you try to confirm that and exit out of the menu, the game won't let you. So, put him back to be the sub pilot. This function is obviously for changing sun pilot in the normal game - For 'Leader Change', you only have E.S Asher, so it's stuck to be the on screen mech. In the normal game, you will get E.S Dinah and E.S Zebulun, with those two, you can then actually change the on screen mech - For 'Option', you have 7 Configuration, use left or right of the D-Pad - Audio Output: Stereo or Monaural - Subtitle Display: On or Off - Vibration: On or Off - In Menu Control: BASIC or EXPERT - Cursor Location Memory: Off or On - Monitor Adjustment - Default - Under the 7 Configuration, you have 1 Instruction - Controller Control Method - That's it for the menu, time to move on ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Continue down the street to the next area - Soon E.S Asher will be blocked by an object, the game will automatically Lock On to it. Surely, you know what to do (Destroy it with 'Square') - To rotate around the Lock On, you still use L1 or R1 - E.S Asher has two moves to destroy an object: One is with its machine gun left arm, the other one is the sword like right arm - If you press 'Start' Button and 'Select' after, you will end the demo or press Start again to cancel - Normally E.S Asher runs(slowly) on the map. To make it walk, hold down R2 - Soon, you will be at an intersection. To continue, continue to left, but don't do that yet, head North and destroy some objects and find 'Power Shield' which is an Accessory that E.S Asher can equip, so do so - With Power Shield, While guarding with E.S Asher, damage light-reduction rate + 20%, basically reduce damage by 20% - Recall: To equip it, press 'Circle'. To do the opposite, press Square, and select Power Shield and press Circle - Now take left and advance to next area - Obviously, you see an enemy mech, touch it and enter a Robot Battle - The game explains a bit to you, so pay attention. Still 3 types of enemies: M, B and G - Basic/Normal attack with Square or Triangle - So, you are controlling E.S Asher, with 13442 HP, 0/0 EP and a new thingy, EC. And E.S Asher has 000 right now - Both enemies are mech, with 'Front' above their heads, they are the same enemy. Both are named as Stool Marine, both have 1500 HP, ST with NONE (the game does not any so I assume none) and IA at 000 - IA stands for Intercept Attack - L1 and L2 still work the same way like the previous game, it shows details on attack of corresponding buttons. Oddly, the game doesn't show any - As you can see by the symbols, Square is Shield Lancer without a doubt, so it's Physical/Kinsetsu (Close/adjacent)/Hit - For Triangle, you know it's Gatling, so it's Physical/Enkaku (Far/Distant)/Pierce - 'X' is still Menu, there you have 'Stock', 'Ether', 'Special' and 'Move' - Both Stock and Special are white while Ether and Move are greyed out - White means Selectable while greyed out means the opposite - Press Right or Left with D-Pad get you a new set of menu, 'Change' and 'Escape' - Both are also greyed out - For now, attack the right enemy with Triangle - After that, your EC goes up to 25, while the enemy's IA goes up to 10 - Remember, the 'Event Slot' has changed, probably each turn - Attack the same enemy with Triangle again to finish it off - Your EC is now 50. Now mess with the left enemy by using the Square. It should kill it in one hit. Your EC is now 75. Event Slot like thingy still changing - The game explains stuff again - Basically teach you how to Boost - Listen to all it got to say and the battle resume - You should now have 200 EC since you 'Stock' once - Recall: Mech boosting works the same way as character battle in previous game - Check out menu, and Change + Escape are still greyed out, same as Ether and Move - You can Stock if you want, but does it do any good when you already have 200 EC? - Since you do have 200 EC, use 'Special' - Obviously, you know what you got: - Shoot Buster which requires 100, probably EC - Ice Wind which requires 200, probably EC - Since you do have 200 EC, use Shoot Buster on the right enemy for now - It should killed it. Your EC reduce to 100, so that does require EC - 'Stock' next turn - You will waste your turn but gain back 100 EC - Finish the left enemy off by using Ice Wind since you do have 200 EC - Recall: EC goes up by 25 with normal attacks and goes up 100 with Stock - Killed it, battle ends: - Result: - Clear Time / 0:28:54 (Just an example) - E.S Asher still at Level 20, got around 12697/13442 HP, still 0/0 EP - It gained 2800 EXP, so next level will requires 1610 EXP - No Class Point or Skill Point gained, assuming that's for Character Battle Only - Press 'Circle' to advance - You also get Item, SHP001 x 2 or Nano Repair A x 1 - And press Circle to end - Back to the field, E.S Asher will be temporary white/invinsible to contact so you can use this chance to avoid enemies - If you got SHP001 x 2, let's check out that ITEM or whatever. Ah, it's another Accessory - What it does is increase physical defense by 30, so do equip it - You can only equip one though - Continue along, destroy objects. Soon you will be near a trap and an enemy mech - Destroy the trap and engage into battle by touching the mech - E.S Asher gets 'Boost Bonus' - Do whatever you want, just finish them off - Faster clear time for me this time, and 1400 Exp, so now got a total of 4200 EXP - Needs 210 more EXP til Level up - Still no Class Point or Skill Point - But this time, got 'Nano Repair A' x 1 - Check out Items from the main menu and use Nano Repair A on E.S Asher - Mess around the near area and find another Nano Repair A. BTW, what it does is recover 25% HP and EP. And works on mech - Search and destroy further, you will find another item, Space Garage - This item will fully recover a mech's HP and EP - Touch the next mech and battle again - New enemy for me, Kuufuga Lily and the previous Stool Marine - Kuufuga Lily has 600 HP BTW - Take out Kuufuga Lily with Triangle - And take out Stool Marine with Square - 1120 Exp gained, E.S Asher level up. Now got a total of 5320 Exp, and needs 3930 Exp to level up now. E.S Asher now also got 14013 HP. Still no Class Point and Skill Point, so it's definitely for character battle only - You might also get SHP001 x 1 as well - Destroy the objects behind that previous fought mech and pick up another Nano Repair A - Continue on and set off the trap and engage into battle - E.S Asher gets 'Boost Bonus' again - Finish it, got another 1120 Exp, now got 6440 Exp, and needs 2810 Exp to level up - You might get more Exp if you fight 2 Kuufuga Lily and 1 Stool Marine - Open the menu, waste a Nano Repair and go check out Status since E.S Asher just recently leveled up - Level: 21 - HP: 14013/14013 - EP: 0/0 - Next Level: 2810 - Total Exp: 6440 - Pow: 372 - Arm: 370 - Dex: 40 - Eva: 34 - Agl: 7 - Eatk: 279 - Edef: 230 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - You can now either continue along the way and a long scene which ends up hurting E.S Asher and you'll lose your chance to control it anymore - If not, go back to previous area and re-enter areas to fight mechs and try to get Exp. But do this if you are bored and wish to have E.S Asher to level up a lot - The following is E.S Asher's stats from Level 20 up to Level 33 - Thanks to www.xenoonline.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Level: 20 HP: 13442 Pow: 362 Arm: 330 Dex: 39 Eva: 33 Agl: 7 Eatk: 270 Edef: 222 Level: 21 HP: 14013 Pow: 372 Arm: 340 Dex: 40 Eva: 34 Agl: 7 Eatk: 279 Edef: 230 Level: 22 HP: 14577 Pow: 382 Arm: 350 Dex: 41 Eva: 35 Agl: 7 Eatk: 288 Edef: 238 Level: 23 HP: 15133 Pow: 392 Arm: 360 Dex: 42 Eva: 36 Agl: 7 Eatk: 297 Edef: 246 Level: 24 HP: 15682 Pow: 402 Arm: 369 Dex: 43 Eva: 37 Agl: 7 Eatk: 306 Edef: 254 Level: 25 HP: 16224 Pow: 412 Arm: 378 Dex: 44 Eva: 38 Agl: 7 Eatk: 314 Edef: 262 Level: 26 HP: 16758 Pow: 422 Arm: 387 Dex: 45 Eva: 39 Agl: 7 Eatk: 322 Edef: 270 Level: 27 HP: 17285 Pow: 432 Arm: 396 Dex: 46 Eva: 40 Agl: 7 Eatk: 330 Edef: 277 Level: 28 HP: 17805 Pow: 441 Arm: 405 Dex: 47 Eva: 41 Agl: 7 Eatk: 338 Edef: 284 Level: 29 HP: 18318 Pow: 450 Arm: 414 Dex: 48 Eva: 42 Agl: 7 Eatk: 346 Edef: 291 Level: 30 HP: 18823 Pow: 459 Arm: 423 Dex: 49 Eva: 43 Agl: 7 Eatk: 354 Edef: 298 Level: 31 HP: 19321 Pow: 468 Arm: 432 Dex: 50 Eva: 44 Agl: 7 Eatk: 362 Edef: 305 Level: 32 HP: 19812 Pow: 477 Arm: 440 Dex: 51 Eva: 45 Agl: 7 Eatk: 370 Edef: 312 Level: 33 HP: 20295 Pow: 486 Arm: 448 Dex: 52 Eva: 46 Agl: 7 Eatk: 377 Edef: 319 - Obviously enough, its EP is always at 0/0 - If you wish to level up E.S Asher even more, go right ahead ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - To continue, go along the way to next area - A long cut scene, so enjoy it ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - E.S Asher walking - Screen then shows Canaan - Suddenly, bright light shines toward and Song of Nephilim plays - Bright light shines at chaos - Screen now shows E.S Asher, and above it in the distant is a bright light pillar - Screen shows Canaan talking - chaos and Canaan talking - Screen shows chaos - Then switch to the light pillar - Light shines toward E.S Asher - Surrounding cars/objects blow up - Screen shows chaos - Enemy mech appears in a disant tall building - And also another mech from behind - Canaan starts talking again - Another mech shows up - The first mech starts to fire at E.S Asher - Screen shows chaos - Then another mech firing - Then switch to Canaan - Close up at chaos - Then quick switch to E.S Asher as it got shot - E.S Asher lost its right arm - E.S Asher kneels down - Canaan seems to be disturbed, by the song? - Strange aura emits on E.S Asher as chaos talking - Two enemy mechs coming near from behind - As they got near E.S Asher, they start to spark and blow up - Screen shows Canaan as he seems to got better - Introduction of another mech, with a sword on its right arm - Screen closes up on the sword - Screen switches to Canaan - Then chaos talking - Someone talking from the new mech - As the talking goes on, E.S Asher gets fired at its surrounding areas - Then chaos talking again - Then shows E.S Asher as it stands up again - Then switches to the new mech as well as another enemy mech behind it - The mech, or rather AMWS turns around and took out the new enemy mech with the sword in one slash - E.S Asher starts the firing - Distant enemy mech blew up - Both the mech/AMWS and E.S Asher continue to fire the surrounding enemies - E.S Asher firing, enemies blew up...etc - The mech/AMWS also destroys enemies with its sword - Fighting continues - Then screen shows Canaan - Then the light pillar - Light pillar disappears and the song stops - The mech/AMWS starts to walk toward E.S Asher - You can see sparks from the enemy. It's beat - chaos and Canaan both jump out from E.S Asher and got on the floor - The mech kneels down, the pilot with headgear comes out as well - A new enemy mech suddently shows up near the pilot - The pilot took it out with one slash from his sword - Pilot jumps down to the floor - He takes off his headgear as he walks toward chaos and Canaan - The pilot then introduces himself as Jin Uzuki - Yes, He is Shion's brother - Jin continues to talk and screen switches to E.S Asher - Then switches to showing chaos and Canaan - The three talking - Sky starts to rain - Jin looks up to the sky - Screen then shows the sky with rain falling down - The three walk to another area - Jin's AMWS then blew up ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - You are now controlling chaos - Obviously, you can't back track - Continue along the way, you get objects and enemy - Depends on the on screen character, they destroy objects differently with Square button - Each character has about 3 ways to destroy an object, they also yell out as they do so - I'll talk about how to change the on screen character in a second - Destroy various objects and go along, you will soon find an item chest - You will find Zeetajisuto/Zetagist S - What it does is recover character that's unable to fight with 25% HP - Continue along the way and you should see a UTIC soldier - Before that, let's explore the menu once again ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Jin now joins. So your party is Jin and chaos for character battle but Namco puts in two more characters, Ziggy and Shion - The reason is obviously for you to test out the newly added feature in the new battle system. That is, changing battle members, like in FFX - So for Attacker, you have chaos, Jin and Ziggy - Shion is on reserve - chaos is at Level 4, 232/232 HP, 24/24 EP and 250 more Exp til next level - Jin is at Level 5, 352/352 HP, 18/18 EP and 360 more Exp til next level - Ziggy is at level 4, 449/449 HP, 11/11 EP and 250 more Exp til next level - Shion is at Level 4, 181/181 HP, 25/25 EP and 250 more Exp til next level - Extra(Extra Member) is still Canaan, so I assume that's for NPC that 'joins' you - For Items, you probably got Zetagist S, Nano Repair and Space Garage - Special Items are still all marked as '????' - Let's look at 'Ether', Jin begins with Medica and chaos could also have that if you have already got him that. Medica requires 2 EP BTW - For 'Skills' with Jin. Same as the ones listed above for chaos, same with Shion and Ziggy. Hence, those skills are for all characters. They each get them separately - All 3 of them, Jin, Ziggy and Shion, their Class Levels are also at 1, also got 1200 C.Pt and 2400 S.Pt - For Jin, however, comes with Learned S: 2, meaning he already learned 2 skills while Ziggy and Shion got none - Jin has Medica and Refresh if you are wondering - For all 4 characters at Class Level 2, all of their skills, through A link to H link, what's within all that are marked as ???? - And the same goes to Class Level 3 and 4 - Class Level 3 also has Class A to H, each one has 4 skills within as well, and all marked as ???? - Class Level 4 however, only has Class A to D but still got 4 skills within each and all marked as ???? - For Class Level 2, A link to G link all needs 600 C.Pt while H link needs 1200 C.Pt. For 'Status', you can also select chaos, Jin, Ziggy and Shion - Each of the character has four other options: - Equip Skill - Equip a Skill with Circle or the opposite with Square - The skills usually rasie the character stats such as - STR + 2 - VIT + 2 - EATK + 2 - EDEF + 2 - If you highlight a Skill, it will also show you its original path/ where it was learned from - Ether Skill - Shows the Ether Skills that are learned and its original path/where it was learned from - The following is the character stats from Level 4/5 to 11/12 - Thanks to www.xenoonline.com again ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LV/HP/EP/STR/VIT/DEX/EVA/AGL/EATK/EDEF 4/232/24/16/13/16/18/7/19/16 5/272/26/17/14/17/19/7/21/17 6/311/27/18/15/18/20/7/23/18 7/350/28/19/16/19/21/7/25/19 8/388/29/20/17/20/22/7/27/20 9/426/30/21/18/21/23/7/28/21 10/464/31/22/19/22/24/7/29/22 11/501/32/23/20/23/25/7/30/23 12/538/33/24/21/24/26/7/31/24 LV/HP/EP/STR/VIT/DEX/EVA/AGL/EATK/EDEF 5/352/18/20/18/22/16/7/19/14 6/402/19/22/19/23/17/7/20/15 7/451/20/23/20/24/18/7/21/16 8/500/21/24/21/25/19/7/22/17 9/548/22/25/22/26/20/7/23/18 10/596/23/26/23/27/21/7/24/19 11/643/24/27/24/28/22/7/25/20 12/690/25/28/25/29/23/7/26/21 LV/HP/EP/STR/VIT/DEX/EVA/AGL/EATK/EDEF 4/449/11/21/19/11/11/6/10/9 5/524/12/23/21/12/12/6/11/10 6/598/13/25/23/13/13/6/12/11 7/671/14/27/25/14/14/6/13/12 8/743/15/29/27/15/15/6/14/13 9/815/16/30/29/16/16/6/15/14 10/886/17/31/30/17/17/6/16/15 11/956/18/32/31/18/18/6/17/16 12/1025/19/33/32/19/19/6/18/17 LV/HP/EP/STR/VIT/DEX/EVA/AGL/EATK/EDEF 4/181/25/8/9/15/17/7/17/18 5/213/26/9/10/16/18/7/19/20 6/245/27/10/11/17/19/7/21/21 7/277/28/11/12/18/20/7/22/22 8/308/29/12/13/19/21/7/23/23 9/339/30/13/14/20/22/7/24/24 10/370/31/14/15/21/23/7/25/25 11/400/32/15/16/22/24/7/26/26 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - For 'Party', you still have 'Battle Formation' and 'Leader Change' - For Battle Formation, you select a character from the Attacker side, and switch with the member at the Reserve side or you select the member from the Reserve side and switch with a member from the Attacker side. Shion is on the Reserve side by default - But in the demo, you can't select Jin or chaos, since they can't be switched out from the Attacker side so you only can switch between Ziggy and Shion - For Leader Change, select a character from the Attacker side only. chaos is the leader or on screen character by default. You can have Jin, Ziggy and Shion as the on screen/leader, the character just has to be in the Attacker side - Recall: Each character has about 3 ways to destroy an object and they also yell out as they do so. Just be sure to change the Leader/On Screen character around and check out all their methods/attacks to destroy an object and their yellings ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - That's it, time to move on - Battle the UTIC soldier and listen to the tutorial - At the end of the battle, you might get Akuajisuto/Aquajist S which recovers 25% of Max HP - Continue along the path, you will see an item chest over the fence, but you can't get it - Continue to next area - Destroy the car and examine the fence door, but it's locked - Continue a bit, you will be auto lock on to a door, camera angle also changed automatically - Destroy the door and found a red door - Examine it and you've found Segment Address No.14 but you can't open it - Continue along and see another UTIC soldier, another battle - More tutorial - This battle got an new enemy called E2 Hauser - Just finish the battle - After the battle, you probably get Iron Goods/Scrap Iron and Roozujisuto S/Rosejist S which recovers 25% of Max EP - Continue along, you will see a ladder, do climb it and head to the left - Destroy the object and obtain Skill Drug/Drag D which get you 100 Skill Points - Now go back down the ladder and continue to the right - In this area, you see another UTIC soldier, fight it or walk to avoid getting his attention - Continue to right, destroy the 5 rings from the 5 pillars if you want to - One of the pillar will get you a 'Space Tent', which recovers all characters' HP and EP fully - Soon you will be an intersection, either head to the north door or head to the right to continue. There is another UTIC soldier, fight it or walk to avoid his attention. There is also a trap near him - The north door is to Toys Universe but it's locked - Continue along to next area - At this area, it looks like a dead end but you just have to destroy these big objects - And you will see a tunnel like path. Before that, make sure you are read for a boss fight. And yes, that's the lasy fight of the demo - Once you are ready, head toward the tunnel - And here comes another cut scene ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - So you know what you have to do, go through the tunnel and have a boss fight to end the demo or go back to previous areas and fight UTIC soldiers to gain Exp and level up madly. The stats for each character up til Level 11/12 have already been posted up above, but if you want to go beyond those levels, be right ahead ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Naked angle like statue - And screen lowers and show Canaan, Jin and chaos - chaos and Jin talking - Jin pulls a data disk - the three talking - All three seems to be looking at something - Screen zooms out and up and lightning strikes down and destroy the statue - By the smoke, a figure shows up - Screen shows Jin - Margulis starts talking - Jin and Margulis talking - The two still talking then Margulis prepares to charge with his sword - Boss battle begins - After the battle, you get one Zetajist DX - Jin jumps up and Margulis flies up after him - The two start fighting as chaos and Canaan watching from a distant - Very intense fight between Jin and Margulis - Soon the screen blacks out as Jin and Margulis are still fighting - Then you get a trailer - This is Special Trailer Volume 1 from Famitsu Wave DVD May Issue, I am sure many of you have seem it, so there is no need for me to describe it - After the trailer ends, you get the final teasing screen which shows KOS-MOS has her back turned(so her back faces you) and the English words: Coming Soon!! to the left of her. And below that, you have the logo of Xenosaga Episode II - Press Circle to end - You will be back to the main menu with the two options from before: New Game and Exit - If this is the first time you beat the demo, the Encyclopedia will get updated ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - First thing to talk about is Movement Order. On the lower right corner, you usually see an icon of E.S Asher and then an icon of the letter 'M' meaning mech, as in enemy mech. So if E.S Asher is located at first to the left of the 'M' icon, that means, you will go first. Besides 'M', there are also 'B' and 'G' with B stands for Biological and G stands for Gnosis - When you selecting an enemy, if their corresponding letter icon(M, B or G) pops up and higher than your E.S Asher icon, that means, this enemy is within the 'line of order' of attacks. Normally, you should take out this enemy first - You normally attack with Triangle or Square Button. Each attack gets you 25 EC. You will also have icons to represent the Type, Range and Attribute of the attack - Just above 'Movement Order', you should see a gauge, with number 0 to 3 and the English word 'Player'. This is your Boost Gauge - To Boost, Press and hold R2. Then press either Square, Triangle or Circle - For Command Menu, press 'X'. You will be taken to a set of menu: - Stock - 100% Charge Robot Energy, current Charge % is shown by EC - Ether - E.S Asher can't use Ether, so this is greyed out - Special - Uses Hissatsuwaza/Death Blow/Tech Attack. The moves are depend on the sub pilot - Move - Move to another location during battle. This can't be choosen in the demo, hence it's also greyed out - Press Left or Right on the D-Pad to get another set of menu: - Change - Change Character during battle. This also can't be choosen and is also greyed out - Escape - Flee from battle. It seems it's limited to some E.S/Mech only, so this can't be choosen as well, and it's also greyed out - My guess is, in the normal game, E.S Dinah will allow you to escape because it has a bird/fly mode while E.S Zebulun will allow you to use Ether since one of its arm is an Ether Bow while the other one contains AIRD devices - Intercept Attack is a peculiar system to mech battle. After using the Command 'Stock', for the next turn up, when you received attacks from the enemy, the enemy's single type attack can be prevented by the present intercept probability. And IA is the Intercept Probability. To raise this probability, just do normal/basic attacks(Triangle or Square Attack). However, If an enemy does a Critical Attack on you, IA will be half, so be careful - Then there is Event Slot, which also changes each turn. They are: - CTC: Critical Attack Up 50% - BST: Boost Gauge Up - SKL: Multiplies Skill Points received when you defeat enemies. However, this is for Character Battle only - ?: It's random, can be the following: - ETR: Ether Damage Up 50% - T-C: Makes character who incurred an attack lose his/her turn - RV: Boost Gauge Up for the side that received the attack - NON: Nothing - Next is Target Information. You see the enemy's name, HP and IA, as well as ST ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Movement Order and Boost are the same as Mech Battle, as check above - Just remember that the gauge above the movement order is the Boost Gauge for the player, the one below the movement order is the enemy boost gauge - And Event Slot is to the left of the movement order - Different from Mech Battle, Each character has ST as in Stock instead of EC - Normal Attack is basically similar to mech battle. The comands are still shown in the lower left corner and still open the menu with 'X' - For the data with each enemy, you have name, HP, ST and Zone - With Triangle button, you can combine with another Triangle or Square - With Square button, you can combine with another Square or Triangle - You can also attack with Circle as well - Circle can also be chained if you have enough Stock - Each person can have up to 3 ST/Stock, and you also get ST from Break Bonus - As for the icons that are representing the details of the corresponding buttons, you have: - Symbol with P letter: Physical Attack - Symbol with E letter: Ether Attack - Running like symbol: Close Range - Wing like symbol: Far Range - Fist like symbol: Hit - Sword like symbol: Slash - Gun like symbol: Pierce - Fire ball like symbol: Flame - Ice drop like symbol: Ice - The Zap like sign: Thunder - A weird symbol with little circle inside and: Spirit - A red line across like symbol: Beam - Up arrow in a rectangle like symbol: Air - Down arrow in a rectangle like symbol: Down - For the newly added concept in the battle system, Zone. If you look at the enemy data, you see Zone and one, two or three letters of A, B or C - Zone is defined to all enemies in a character battle. There are 3 zones: - A Zone: Image about 3m or more - B Zone: Image between 1m to 3m - Z Zone: Image about 1m or below - Square is for B Zone attack - Triangle is for C Zone attack - Circle is for ABC(BC) Zone attack - Break is the event of you hitting the enemy's zone weakness correctly - Some weakness patterns are BC, BBB, BCBC...etc - When you attack, the game will shows sings of strike zone reports, if it's red, that means you found a weak spot. If it's white, then it's just the normal zone - Let say for an enemy with zone weakness at BB, if you attack with Square which attacks B zone, and then Triangle that attacks C zone after, you will get a red B and white C - If you try Triangle then Square, you get a white C and red B - Then it's really obviously that Square Square is the best for it since the zone weakness is BB, and Square deals with the B Zone - If you did do Square Square, you will get a 'Break' - On the enemy data, you will see the enemy weak zone, and there is also the skill 'Memory' to help you - If you see question marks on the zone weakness for the enemy, you just have to find it first then with the 'Memory' skill, you won't have to next time - When Break happens, use the Circle attack, which will possibly generates Air or Down, ultimately decided by the character - For Ziggy, his Burst Blow has Down - For chaos, his Chi Kung(Spirit Cultivation) Palm also has Down - For Jin, his Whirlwind Edge Sky Launch has Air - For Damage up: - Break: 1.5 times of normal damage - Air: 2 times of normal damage - Down: 2 times of normal damage - More on Command Menu, you open it with 'X' as I said above, and you get: - Stock: As in ST, max is 3. - Ether: Allow you to use learned ether skills - Item: Use item - Double: Use Double Tech. Only one in the demo is with Jin and chaos. To make it happen, with either Jin or chaos, then boost the other character, depends on you are using Jin or chaos right now. There you should see Hyoumonken with 2 to the right, that's the required Circle Stock cost - Move: Move to another location, not usable in demo though, hence it's greyed out - If you press Left or Right on D-Pad, you get another menu, just like in mech battle, there, you have: - Change: Switch to another member, this is very similar to FFX's. However, this will waste the turn, the newly switched in character can't act. He or she has to wait for his or her next - Escape: Flee from battle, not usable in demo, hence it's greyed out. This is also fixed to some character only, not everyone can use this - Special: Special Command for fixed character, this is not usable as well, hence it's greyed out - For Zone Weakness: - UTIC Soldier A: BB - UTIC Soldier B: CB - E2 Hauser: CC - Margulis: CB ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - I am going to have to use an example to explain this - This will involve with Jin and chaos, if not chaos, maybe Ziggy - To make sure things work out the way I want to, I am going to 'Stock' with chaos and Jin, probably up to 3, probably don't need to, but just to make sure. Pick an enemy that can survive against Jin's two normal attack with Break - That will probably be E2 Hauser - Make sure you have 1 or more Boost as well - Wait until Jin's turn since he's the only one in the demo with single tech that has Air - With Jin against E2 Hauser, since its Zone Weakness is CC, so attack it with Triangle Triangle - Then press Circle once, then quickly boost chaos(maybe Ziggy works as well), and viola, you've done 'Air' successfully and E2 Hauser is floating in air and waiting for chaos(or whoever you boost) to input command - However, this is the odd part, chaos can't put in anything, not Triangle Triangle, Triangle Square, Square Square, Square Triangle, or even Circle. The only thing you can do now is actaully boost another character, or open the command menu with chaos(or whoever you boost) - And I do know you can input 'Down' effect tech after that - Since I haven't figure out this part yet, I will boost up Jin and finish up E2 Hauser with Hyoumonken(Double) - However, if you got Shion, she can use Circle to finish off the enemy that was in the air - It's against E2 Hauser again. Similar situation above, however, I use chaos and in the end, I have the enemy with 'Down' and boost Ziggy. And Ziggy however can use Triangle Triangle or Circle. * Conclusion * - With an enemy in Air, or to do so in the first place, you need Jin to launch it up in air, however, once it's in air, it's considered far range. And that's why chaos or Ziggy can do any attack after that but Shion can because all her attacks with her newly powered up M.W.S are far range. So Jin can only team up and do combo with his sister in the demo for now. In the normal game, I assume MOMO also got far range because her bow and Jr also because of his guns - With an enemy on Down, or to do so in the first place, you need chaos or Ziggy since both of them got single tech with Down effect. What to follow up is the other one(so if you use Ziggy, try chaos; If you use chaos, try Ziggy). This will probably work with Shion right after this if you got boost and the enemy is still alive - Air -> Air is very much possible. First have Jin launches an enemy up in air then have Shion to do Circle Circle Circle, then the enemy falls down and you have the Down effect on. Then with chaos or Ziggy to attack with Circle as well - Because Shion only got Circle, so it's good to put her at the third spot for easy and fast boosting then quickly have her attack with Circle. Third spot boosting also uses Circle, so it's convenient - With an enemy Down, with chaos and Ziggy, as I said earlier, they are the only ones that can actually chain that. because From Air -> Down, the chain-able attacks are highly limited, mostly with Ziggy and chaos, you get Triangle Triangle or Circle. If somehow Triangle Triangle makes another Break, you can chain further, with this theory on mind, Xenosaga Episode II might even have 'Infinity Combo' - Sadly enough, there is no way to test this out in the demo. For one, E2 Hauser is still weak, second, Margulis himself probably can't either. So I have to wait until June 24th and try it out on the actual game - One last thing, with Jin launches an enemy in air, then attack with Circle couple times with Shion, you might also want to try out Jin and chaos' Double, and it will probably do lots of damage because combo with Zone makes it heavy damage ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - I think I pretty much learned everything that the demo has to offer, especially on the newly improved character battle. I think I just probably know most things about the new systems now, if they don't put anything new to it, I am pretty much set. I am no longer confused as I was. What's to do now is keep playing it and master it and apply it efficiently when I get the game in June. The actual game probably won't add anything and mostly they will add in other characters(that's for sure, lol) and their Single Tech and Double Tech and things related to them. The battle system itself, I think I am very good at it, and probably going to rock in the actual game - That's about it for this FAQ, it's not Final Version or anything, it's still up for suggestion. If you think you got something I don't know, and I haven't cover it in this FAQ, be sure to E-Mail me ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Open to suggestion ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Me - CJayC - Japanese site - www.xenoonline.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This Document Copyright 2004 Kouli
