You may use it wherever you please as long as you do not take credit for it. I'm putting a lot of work into this guide and would be very displeased at someone desperate enough to try and steal it. I mean, seriously; how would you feel if you stole some dude's very first guide? For shame! If you don't like spoilers, don't read this guide, because, just out of boredom, I have gone out of my way to spoil critical plot points such as Queen Brimhild being the source behind all the chaos going on in the world of Astonishia and Akra being a traitor to her army that eventually joins your forces, while falling in love with Rudoug... yeah, I'm horrible. Astonishia Story is a strategy RPG of Korean origin that was released on PC in 1994, and ported to the handheld system GamePark32, and again to the ever popular Sony PlayStation Portable. The world of Astonishia is pack-full of quirky, sailor-tongued NPCs and scripters who not only talk to you in the game, but make it clear they have no idea how to script a balanced EXP system. There is also another continuation of Astonishia called "Astonishia Story: Forgotten Saga". Not much is known of it though. Actually, there may be a lot known of the sequel to this, but I just downright don't feel like checking... besides, this is an Astonishia Story guide. Forgotten Saga can wait... as long as I don't forget about it. Your progress in this game will be judged by your play points that you will see at completion. You can gain play points by doing various sidequests hidden all over the world. While walking around on the overworld, be ready to constantly jam your X button to search for hidden items, that may reward you some extra Play Points when you strike lucky. Also, take note that there are hidden passages in almost EVERY DUNGEON IN THIS GAME. I may not point them all out, so if you're interested in 100% completion, walk against all the walls you can and see what you can find. Since Boss HP can not be viewed automatically, I will just make an estimate which will be the total damage I took out before they fell to use as a guide to how much HP you can expect them to have. Since this game has hella sidequests that I can't always figure out, I'll just put "NOTICE!" in all caps if I find something I think is a potential sidequest. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾ 2. He is shy and not a man of the world. ------------------------------------------------ [LZEL] Lezail Age: 135 Class: Wizard Species: Human ------------------------------------------------ Since childhood, he has demonstrated great intelligence and outstanding magical ability. If you just wanna blaze through, avoid all the sidequests. ------------------------------------------------ 1. Rudelberg [RDLB] ------------------------------------------------ ------- |PARTY: Lloyd As our hero of knightmanship, Lloyd von Roiental, you start off in the kingdom of Rudelberg and learn quickly of your mission to aid the King in the transfer ceremony of Cainan's Staff. After being released from the Inn, head north to the royal castle. Castallen will grant you the staff, and then you can be on your way to start your mission. You will be sent outside of Rudelberg right after the scene, but I advise you go and stock up on any items you may need. ------- |PARTY: Lloyd, Lance, Knight, Solider After leaving Rudelberg, head across the western bridge into the forestry. ------------------------------------------------ 2. Plateau Wood [PASS] ------------------------------------------------ Here you will meet an odd fellow with some piracy-related humour. Don't worry about him, he's not significant unless you happen to be in-tune with piracy problems of the Asian areas. Level up a bit if you like and head eastward to another forestlike area. ------------------------------------------------ 3. Plateau Forest [PLTF] ------------------------------------------------ You will hit a story scene here where your troops attacked by an unknown troop of enemies. You will be sent into a suicidal search for the pleasure of the cowardly Sir John, but receive no results. Unsatisfied, Sir John will, against your will, send you even deeper yet and most of your troop will be assassinated by elven archers. Alone you return to your legion to learn that Sir John has fled, and your attackers' leader is shown: An elven Knight the name of [Francis De La Cross] There is a neat animated battle scene here in which you suffer a overwhelming defeat by Francis and have your armor shattered by his awesome swordsmanship. After your entire troop is devastated, you are again alone, but sent to a new area of the overworld. ------------------------------------------------ SIDEQUEST 01: Iringis Ruby' [SQ01] ------------------------------------------------ ------- |PARTY: Lloyd Head east and you will arrive at the [Village of Iringis]. May be a good time to stock up on items and upgrade your equipment. Head on over to the Village Chief's house, and you will learn of a girl's sickness and the tradgedy of a village. Their ruby was stolen and now everyone has become vulnerable to whatever illness may befall them, and of course, you have to retrieve it. Northeast should be a bar where you will see a man dressed in brown and green, talk to him and you will get a boss fight. --------------------------------- |BOSS(TRM1) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |Trumman+ 110 | --------------------------------- Once he's defeated then he will vanish and request you come to Setia Woods if you want the ruby back. Head southwest to the [Setia Woods] and do some leveling up while you grab the chests lying around and search for the area [Trumman's Fastness] ... don't ask what his fastness has to do with his fortress, I don't get it either. Anyway; go on inside and for a boss fight. --------------------------------- |BOSS(TRM2) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |Trumman+ 150 | --------------------------------- After defeating them, return to Iringis and give the Ruby to the Village Chief for [Water of Life]. Talk to the girl upstairs to receive 100G. ------------------------------------------------ SIDEQUEST 02: Feverish Woman [SQ02] ------------------------------------------------ In Iringis, there is a woman in the northwesternmost house that is suffering from a fever and requests a wet towel. Go to the small outhouse on the side of the Village Chief's house to recieve a [Handkerchief]. If you've already done [SQ01] then you will have the [Water of Life] and can restore this woman to her health. ------------------------------------------------ 4. Ferry [FERY] ------------------------------------------------ ------- |PARTY: Lloyd If you did not do [SQ01] then you must earn 2000 Gelder to use this ferry, otherwise, passage is free to the next area. However you go about it, you will control of the Ferry and venture to the Weststone Area and lose access to Iringis after arriving. ------------------------------------------------ SIDEQUEST 03: True Gentleman [SQ03] ------------------------------------------------ Look for the town with a pile of stones west of it(no, this is actually the town's trademark... I kid you not) and you will find Weststone. In the back of the town there is a two-part Inn in which you can walk between to access the bar. The waitress spills water on one of the customers and he goes berserk on her. One of them attacks you and fails, but another retailiates with his huge mass and knocks you out. You wake up in the waitress' house and escape quickly after a meal as thanks for helping her out. Go to the weapons shop, and you'll get some free armor(which would originally have been really expensive) and he'll direct you towards Bluedeep Mountains. ------------------------------------------------ SIDEQUEST 04: The Cowardly Sir John [SQ04] ------------------------------------------------ Head to the arena on the eastern side of Weststone and pay for training. You will encounter the same cowardly Sir John that fled when you were ambushed back in the plateau forest! --------------------------------- |BOSS(CWRD) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |Sir John 171 | --------------------------------- After defeating him, you form an agreement in which says he will never speak of himself as a "knight" again for his cowardice. ------------------------------------------------ SIDEQUEST 05: The Healing Fist! [SQ05] ------------------------------------------------ To the far northeast side of the Weststone area, there is a village linked to the mainland by a bridge, this is the village of [Dengun]. Don't bother trying to upgrade your equipment here... all of the stuff they offer in Dengun blows. The first house you see there will have a deaf old main in need of healing. Talk to him... or at least try to. There is an opening in the eastern side of his wall that some items are hidden in, go ahead and take 'em, he can't hear you doing it anyway. Now leave and, to the far north, you will see a master of the Chilseong(aka Healing) Fist. He won't be hard to find, the guy you're looking for is 1.5x the height of you and everyone else, has a big-freakin' head and is dressed in purple. The both of you will barge into his house and Chilseong will wildly attack the old man with the...umm... PENETRALIA of Chilseong Fist... whatever, man. Anyway, you jump in to stop him before he goes overboard and kills the man, and his hearing is a restored... your reward? Nothing! Gratz moi... ------------------------------------------------ 5. Bluedeep Inn [BDIN] ------------------------------------------------ Head to the southwesternmost area and you will end up here. Go to the horses' stables and to the far north should be a letter. Grab it and head to the barkeeper for an interrigation which will result in a boss battle. --------------------------------- |BOSS(BDTG) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |Buff Thief+ 107 | --------------------------------- After defeating them, the barkeeper will break down and into tears and start whining about how he was blackmailed. Now at the entrance, you will be able to leave through a small opening to the west(look for the sign that points west) that will lead you into Bluedeep Mountain. ------------------------------------------------ 6. Bluedeep Mountain [BDMT] ------------------------------------------------ ------- |PARTY: Lloyd, Ylenne, Rendalf On the bridge to the main area of the mountain, a girl and dwarf will force their way into your party and then you proceed to an area where thieves are waiting to rob you. You rush off and leave your teammates behind to chase the thieves and the dwarf follows to help you out with a trap you've run right into. --------------------------------- |BOSS(MTHV) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |Tough Thief+ 78 | --------------------------------- After defeating the fearsome fivesome, you return to Ylenne and the rest only to find that a thief lord, Karof, has taken them hostage, thus begins yet another distraction from your main quest. Go ahead and grab any nearby chests, there's a lot of healing items on this mountain that will be useful later. When you're done looking around, head to the northwesternmost area to find a cave ------------------------------------------------ 7. Bluedeep Mountain Cave [BMTC] ------------------------------------------------ ------- |PARTY: Lloyd, Rendalf Head west into a room full of treasures and then east for a new sword(which isn't really useful... or even new if you've been doing the sidequests), head north and grab the chest and continue on north. You and Rendalf will split up in the next room where there's a fork in the road. If you wanna grab some more treasure, head east, grab the chest, west grab the chest and continue up the stairs in the western passage for more junk and outdated armor, flip the switch in the eastern corridor, and head back downstairs. Go north for some bread and through a long path that leads up some stairs. Keep following the path through a large opening in the cave in which you will meet up with Ylenne being *harassed* by Karof and attack. --------------------------------- |BOSS(TKRF) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |Thief Lord Karof+ 145 | --------------------------------- Even though you appear to beat him, he's still able to get in a hit, but a winged lady that is apparently an enemy of Karof interrupts, giving you the perfect escape opportunity. She introduces herself as a great servant of the Queen Brimhild, named Akra. She attacks Karof in pursuit of the [Cultrun Ruby] in which Ylenne steals as you make your leave. Outside the Cave, you finally get to converse with Ylenne and Rendalf emerges to re-join you. You carry on to the Keric Colony Side Area. Since you don't really have any access to any other place, go ahead to the mid-eastern Keric Colony. ------------------------------------------------ 8. Keric Colony [KRIC] ------------------------------------------------ ------- |PARTY: Lloyd, Rendalf, Ylenne Go to the inn and Ylenne will part from you with her nanny. No item shops here, so just stay at the inn if you need recovery and then leave to the northern caves. • NOTICE!: There's an arguing couple in one of the houses. This could be a sidequest where you have to give them some mood pills or something, I don't know. • NOTICE!: There's some boy in a house begging for food that has a chest he will cuss you out for opening. I think this contributes to the play points you are rewarded at the end of the game. • NOTICE!: There's a woman in this town in need of curing. Dunno what to bring her. ------------------------------------------------ 9. Perdor Cave [PDRC] ------------------------------------------------ ------- |PARTY: Lloyd, Rendalf Hey, check it out; Ylenne seems to have, yet again, found her way out of your party! ...punk. Anyway, like all the other caves so far, you'll notice it has way more paths than anyone feels like dealing with. Even better is that you are trapped with no way to stock up on poison cure for all the bats that like to poison you! Aren't Astonishia's playtesters great? Head as far northwest as you can and grab the few chests, then right to the west side of the uplifted ground, walk against the wall to find a hidden passage leading to some more chests with items you could sell for a lot of money... if there were a nearby shop. Go back to the fork and take the southern route to... hey... another fork. Doesn't really matter what path you take because they both lead to a inter-connected room. Just take the left path and you will see a poorly hidden chest sticking out of the side. Look near the wall west of that chest and you'll find a hidden passage where a Chain Mail lies. Head all the way east into a lone room where you can find a double axe for that weak son of a ...ahem... dwarf Rendalf. Head south to find a huge exit which will lead to a quite weird cutscene with a cute warez fairy giving out pirated items. If you say yes and take the items, Mr. SONNORi will take away 70% of your HP and you'll lose the items. Say "No" for a (much neccessary) free 500 EXP from Mr. SONNORi for not being a pirate and proving yourself as a True Gamer(Might also get you some play points). Whatever you chose, you can now leave, and have access to the Renzas Area! Since they've conviniently blocked off everything else, go ahead and head to Renzas, and grab the [Hella Ghetto Armor] hidden in the forestry below. ------------------------------------------------ 10. Renzas Village [RNZS] ------------------------------------------------ ------- |PARTY: Lloyd, Rendalf Since this village is about to get destroyed, go ahead and loot the people's houses for whatever you want... oh... I wasn't suppposed to say that... crap. Too late now, eh? You can talk to the villagers to see what they have to say(like the ironically coupled "Nolenne/Zoyd") and pick up on the local rumour. Whenever you feel like it, head to to massive house on the eastern side of the village to meet the great wizard Lezail. Lots of talking then you are set free to roam around. You can go back to sleep, or: ------------------------------ Sidequest 06: 18+ Only(SQ06) ------------------------------ Leave the room with Lezail and go up the western stairway for a "Mature Audience"-rated Bath scene with Ylenne where you learn just how good of a pitch she turns out to be. After escaping, you awaken with only 1 hit point. Go back to the bath to recieve the axe Ylenne was about to kill you with . Take your leave from Lezail's mansion. Ylenne will stop you and demand you let her at least follow you outside the village. After stocking up on whatever you might need(and staying at the inn, if you did the bath scene) from this town that's about to be destroyed, save and head on out. As soon as you step outside, the town will be destroyed and you must head onwards. Go ahead and enjoy Lezail's magic since he's gonna end up getting killed pretty soon(I told you I was gonna spoil everything). Since you don't really have any other options, head to the mountain forest in the easternmost area of the Renzas outskirts. ------------------------------------------------ 11. Covolt Moore Wood [CMWD] ------------------------------------------------ ------- |PARTY: Lloyd, Ylenne, Rendalf, Lezail As soon as you get into the forest, you will be smacked in the face with a very long cut scene that delves deeper into the history of Astonishia's inhabitants and empires, and you get to learn some (not so) interesting information of the Francis De La Cross you've set out to defeat. Ylenne lightens up on the Carnation Instant-Asshole and finally allows you to sleep in the same tent as her, and you rest up a bit before given control over the party again. Doesn't seem to be any chests around, so head east if you don't feel like doing any leveling and you will run into the Elier girl from the Bluedeep Caves. --------------------------------- |BOSS(SZIN) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |Suzain+ 210 | --------------------------------- After defeating their small troupe, Akra will run away and you can finish exploring the forest. Go north and you will arrive in the Abur Plain. Hey wow... they actually didn't cut you off from the previous areas... not that there's anything worth going back for. First, head to the tower to the far east. ------------------------------------------------ 12. Mage Academy [MCAD] ------------------------------------------------ ------- |PARTY: Lloyd, Ylenne, Rendalf, Lezail Talk to anyone you feel like here, then head to the second floor and meet up with Saimin so he and Lezail can chat for a while. You get to reveal the secrets and motives of Queen Brimhild and do a lot more talking here, as well as find out the final destination you're heading for; which is Fort Ganberg - guarded by three onyxes. You are also gifted with the first piece of the Legendary Sword; the stone cutter and a potion you can use to mend it with something you must gain from Hakshiman Island. Now it's time to head to Midaira Town. Just look for the only town that has more than kids in it that you have access to. ------------------------------------------------ SIDEQUEST 07: Secret Spells GET! [SQ07] ------------------------------------------------ In the Mage Academy 1st floor, check the blue painting next to the staircase for some "Helfire" magic, and then outside. Go all the way south from the Mage Academy until you reach the end of a long peninsula. Right to your west should be a brown chip. Try to grab it for "Soul Slap" magic. ------------------------------------------------ 13. Midaira Town [MDRA] ------------------------------------------------ ------- |PARTY: Lloyd, Ylenne, Rendalf, Lezail Before we do anything else, time to get a well needed item. Go to Midaira Town's item shop and buy the [Dalphyn Shoes]. EQUIP THEM RIGHT NOW, DAMMIT. Congrats, you no longer walk slow as molasses. While you're here, save yourself the frustration and buy a [Rope]; you'll see why later. There are also a LOT of worthwhile equipment upgrades in Midaira, as well as some nice accessories for that lonely 4th slot all your characters have. If you've got the cash, some Defense Rings are a VERY good investment. Now go to the large mansion for another conversaion. You'll get to meet the village chief Klaff and he'll tell you of some trouble going on at the neighboring shrine of Saurabi. Head outside and... lucky for you, the next location is just to the right of Midaira! ------------------------------------------------ 14. Saurabi Shrine [SRBI] ------------------------------------------------ ------- |PARTY: Lloyd, Rudoug You will rush in and see a warrior with extreme skill devastate the Garolin ambush that introduces himself as Rudoug the Monk. After introductions, you see Rudoug's master thrown out of the shrine in a bloody mess. The killer, Dreadford will emerge with a familiar face accompanying him and some elven warriors. --------------------------------- |BOSS(DRDF) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |Dreadford+ 410 | --------------------------------- Although you seem to have done the job, Rudoug's master sacrifices himself to save you, and Dreadford, being somewhat of an honorable Knight, withdraws his forces. Master Carrahan's last wishes are that Rudoug takes care of the Aldred Crystal, emotional moment, yadayadayada... After all the talking, Rudoug joins your party, and it's back to Midaira. ------------------------------------------------ 15. Midaira Town Revisited [MDR2] ------------------------------------------------ ------- |PARTY: Lloyd, Ylenne, Rendalf, Rudoug, Lezail As soon as you return, it's in the middle of an announcement of an attack on Midaira and the actions Klaff plans to take against them. Of the people that volunteer to accompany you, Klaff's own son, and master of the sword, Hataik, volunteers to come along, and is given a massive blade to use in his mission to aid you. Grab some equipment for Hataik and Rudoug, and load up on all the magic potions you can afford... then leave Midaira and head across the bridge to the small village of Daria. ------------------------------------------------ 16. Daria Village [DRIA] ------------------------------------------------ ------- |PARTY: Lloyd, Ylenne, Rendalf, Rudoug, Hataik, Lezail There's not really much here yet except a bunch of people complaining, so go ahead and head straight for the Village Chief Matteon's house. Turns out the village was ambushed and a lot of the people will either slain or kidnapped... and guess who has to deal with all of this! Go back downstairs and look near the painting on the eastern wall to find a secret passage leading behind Daria Village. After a short cave, you will be back on the overworld and have access to a mountain cave. Enter. ------------------------------------------------ 17. Mt. Dacalph Cave [MDCV] ------------------------------------------------ ------- |PARTY: Lloyd, Ylenne, Hataik When you near the cave, it turns out the entrance is too small for some people to fit, so you must leave some party members behind. There's lots of treasures littered around, grab whatever you feel you need while you gain Ylenne and Hataik some level ups. Take the northern entrance to the next room first, and grab whatever treasure you can, then take the lower one for a battle. --------------------------------- |BOSS(KCLF) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |Knuckalf+ 435 | --------------------------------- At Knuckalf's dying word, he cast a curse on Hataik, then you get the key to free Daria's residents. Grab the few treasure chests, talk to the prisoners and you will be sent outside of the cave. Go back to Daria. ------------------------------------------------ 18. Daria Village Revisited [DRA2] ------------------------------------------------ ------- |PARTY: Lloyd, Ylenne, Rendalf, Rudoug, Hataik, Lezail Talk to the Village Chief and he will thank you and give you a luck ring. Talk to the villagers to get your thanks, stock up on items, and then head out to the western cave you could not enter earlier. ------------------------------------------------ 19. The Sanctuary of the Magic Crest [CRST] ------------------------------------------------ ------- |PARTY: Lloyd, Ylenne, Rendalf, Rudoug, Hataik, Lezail As soon as you enter, you meet up with Dreadford, Akra and a new foe, Herzo. You walked right into a trap and Lezail gets turned into stone, then a boss fight. --------------------------------- |BOSS(AKRB) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |Akra+ 265 | --------------------------------- The battle turns out to be a scheme to grab the Statuette of Relka, and Herzo escapes with it while Akra casts a powerful summon spell. Through a heroic attempt, however, you retrieve the Aldred Crystal, yet still have the summoned beast to deal with, and the Crystal is unable to control it! --------------------------------- |BOSS(DRGN) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |Red Dragon Chrydaron 2150 | --------------------------------- As soon as you have weakened Chrydaron, you take sympathy for the injured Akra and escape to the underground catacomb. ------------------------------------------------ 20. Mt. Ssleithurm Catacomb [CTCB] ------------------------------------------------ ------- |PARTY: Lloyd, Ylenne, Rendalf, Rudoug, Akra, Hataik, Lezail Awesome, you finally get to have 3 pages of party members! Enjoy it while it lasts. What better way than recovering from a strenous dragon battle than to be slapped right in a 4-way dungeon split... yeah, you'll be down here for a while, hope you didn't quaff all your magic potions just yet! Go left and you will be hit by a LONG, WINDING ONE-WAY PATH. Walk against the walls when you get to the outermost right side to find a hidden path for a Magic Potion. Continue to the middle of the path to find.. *drum roll* A PB&J Lunch Box! Yes... that's right... all that BS and annoying battles for the absolute weakest healing item in the entire world of Astonishia. Okay, I had my fun... go ahead and walk your way back out of that winding mess, back to the 4 way intersection. Head south and grab the chests for some Flame Boots, then northeast for some other useless garbage you can sell for Astonishia's well-overpriced equipment. When you are ready to progress, go to the largest opening to the southeast part of the catacombs for a brief cutscene with a little character development between your small legion. Now you can progress to... the second floor(oh. joy.). The path is straightforward from here so keep going until you hit another 4-way intersection. Head east first and grab the Salamander's Tongue for a nice damage bonus. Just in case you haven't been doing so, since we're stuck in this place for so long, this is an excellent opportunity to level up at least to 15/16 so you can see all Hataik's cool attacks since he's getting ready to ditch you guys in a little bit. Go back to the intersection and go south for some more goods and frustration from the high encounter rate, then back to the intersection and to the west for another overly-lengthy path leading to another staircase in this labyrinth. Keep onward and watch as your magic potions vanish as you progress... and we see LIGHT! We're out of this hellhole. Save, rejoice, call friends over to celebrate, etc. ------------------------------------------------ 21. Covolt Moore Wood 2 [CVMW] ------------------------------------------------ ------- |PARTY: Lloyd, Ylenne, Rendalf, Rudoug, Akra, Hataik, Lezail Hey, wait a sec... this isn't the overworld at all...!!! Hope you saved :) Right off the back, as soon as you exit, you are ambushed! --------------------------------- |BOSS(HRZO) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |General Herzo+ 380 | --------------------------------- After you wipe out more of the super stuck-up elven warriors, there's some more bickering between your party and Akra and then you are given control again. Now would be a good time to save, since that boss battle was pretty damn sudden. Head one screen east and another north to finally return to the safety of the overworld... and now back to Midaira one. more. time! ------------------------------------------------ 22. Midaira Town Banquet [MDR3] ------------------------------------------------ ------- |PARTY: Lloyd, Ylenne, Rendalf, Rudoug, Akra, Hataik, Lezail You will instantly appear in the house of Chief Klaff and surrender the Aldred Crystal. For such a brilliantly executed mission, Chief Klaff has a banquet arranged to reward you for your efforts. You get a huge congratulation ceremony, then escape off to a lone pond with Ylenne for something of a love interest scene. Wait... who's that in the background? It's Akra... things could get interesti... oh.. aww, the screen faded. Oh well... it's morning again, and now you are minus one Hataik and anything you might have equipped him with. Life's tough, bud. You now learn that your next destination is the southern areas, in which the warrior who dealt the finishing blow to a wild dragon has now become afraid to cross(this sure does have a lot of character development for an SRPG >_<)... since Rendalf is being a wuss, we must now take the long path through Teftin Cave... great... another dungeon. If you'd like to check the surrounding forestry, walk around while tapping X to find some hidden "Hella Ghetto Equipment". ------------------------------------------------ 23. Teftin Cave [TFCV] ------------------------------------------------ ------- |PARTY: Lloyd, Ylenne, Rendalf, Rudoug, Akra, Lezail While you may be banging your head on the computer table at the thought of another dungeon by now, this one is actually pretty lenient, and now that Hataik is gone, the insane EXP system lets up a bit so you can grab a few levels for one of Lloyd's most useful attacks(Blade Rain). Alright, head east and grab the few chests, then follow the northwestern passage for a few more chests and go to the next screen. Head downwards for a dead end. If you just happened to have a lapse over when I told you to buy that rope in Midaira, your only option is to go back and get it. Otherwise, a cutscene will ensue for a Hella Ghetto Bridge from Akra. Go to the end of the path for a Protect Amulet and you will notice it's a dead end. From that chest, go directly east for a hidden passage in the wall that will lead to a helmet of recovery. Try to go back and the rope will fall from right under you. Grab the seed of life, go northwest and around the corners until you encounter a chest with a Rod in it, keep going and take the stairs. Up here you can grab a [Health Band of Fighting Spirit], [King's Lunch Box], and a [Lightning Rod]. Return to back to the intersection on 1F where we fell in and go south this time for a path with a long series of staircases that leads to the exit. See, that wasn't bad at all... now on to the Shunai Desert Area. ------------------------------------------------ 24. Shunai Desert [SHUN] ------------------------------------------------ ------- |PARTY: Lloyd, Ylenne, Rendalf, Rudoug, Akra, Lezail Save, recover, and continue on to the forest below(not much else you can do), unless you wanna hang around and fight the desert monsters for some quick EXP or enjoy your last few moments with Lezail... I mean... umm, I didn't say anything about Lezail getting killed in a little bit and taking anything you equipped him with to his grave. ------------------------------------------------ SIDEQUEST 08: Crayon Astonishia-Chan? [SQ08] ------------------------------------------------ On the Shunai Desert Area of the overworld, head to large opening to the west to get a really weird cutscene featuring intentionally poor sketches of the Astonishia main cast being overcome by heat conditions. After that severly disturbing skit, you get the magic of [Diamond Attack] and get 50% of your HP taken away. ------------------------------------------------ 25. Shunai Desert Forest [SHDF] ------------------------------------------------ ------- |PARTY: Lloyd, Ylenne, Rendalf, Rudoug, Akra, Lezail As soon as you enter, you get a story scene explaining your new mission to find three onyxes and decide to take a rest to plan things out. Lezail gives you a [Letter to Shamil] and a Black Mage named Dryden appears. He's apparently too good to deal with you, so he makes his escape and leaves you his pet to play with while Lezail pursues Dryden. --------------------------------- |BOSS(JKRL) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |Jikrol 1960 | --------------------------------- After defeating this Pyra Water abusive bastard, Lezail and Dryden go at it with another greatly animated cutscene and find out that in the past, Francis de La Cross fought alongside Lezail, as well as a mess of other historic details which I actually won't spoil for you. Anyway, the battle between Lezail and Dryden results in both of them getting killed in a ravenous inferno, leaving only Lezail's Vichrec behind. A lot of crying from Ylenne seeing her grandfather get killed, more character development scenes, etc, etc; and you are cut loose again to exit and take your adventure to the Port Bermire Area. Head as far east as you can get and you'll see Port Bermire. ------------------------------------------------ SIDEQUEST 09: The Fortuneteller [SQ09] ------------------------------------------------ Go to the far southwest and you'll find Steeler Village. Go directly to the tent in the northeastern side of town to find a fortuneteller named Drya who will give you some visions of the final events to happen. ------------------------------------------------ SIDEQUEST 10: Disco Fever! [SQ10] ------------------------------------------------ In the bar of Port Bermire(kinda confusing, because you enter from the top instead of the front door), go to the second floor and talk to the only lady there, and she will charge you 1000gelder to get into dance clothes for a celebration of some sort. I know, it's hardly a sidequest, but it opens way to one of the only good dance scenes in a 2D RPG, it's actually kinda worth watching, and you get to see Lloyd/Ylenne show off their moves on the dance floor. I'm sure, if nothing else, it'll add to your play points. ------------------------------------------------ 26. Port Bermire [BRMR] ------------------------------------------------ ------- |PARTY: Lloyd, Ylenne, Rendalf, Rudoug, Akra A short cutscene with your party bickering with each other and Lloyd cutting in with more current events of what nation Bermire is under the rule of, then you're set free to discover yet another town that's about to be destroyed. If you've got the dough, go ahead and upgrade your equipment, there's a lot of neat stuff to buy, just make sure the cross bow is one of the things you get because it's really necessary for what's coming up next, also buy a LOT of Smoke Shells... at least 20 of them. There's a lot to hear about in this town, so you might wanna go ahead and talk to as many people as you can before progressing. When you are ready to move on, there is a house near the entrance where a man named Shamil is. As soon as you enter, the story scene will ensue where you can find out about the location of the last onyx. You don't leave immediately because Rendalf has to get some things from his brother's house. You will leave the shop, and then Rudoug will finally come out and show his true colors when he makes a move on Akra and totally surprises Ylenne. After Rudoug and Akra part from you to get better acquainted, a woman comes to deliver the message that there's a couple of people at the tavern requesting your audience that are "old friends" of yours. As Lloyd heads to the tavern, the scene fades into some mingling between Rudoug and Akra where they go shopping to pick up the new bandanna Akra said she wanted eariler, and she lets him tie it for her. Lloyd finally arrives at the tavern, and sees that the place is completely empty except for two cloaked figures who immediately draw swords to you and reveal themselves as Francis De La Cross and Herzo. Oddly enough, they seem not to be interested in any bloodshed... if you surrender the Aldred Crystal and Cultrun Ruby as to protect their elven peoples. Before your negotiation can come to an agreement, the town is attacked by the Garolin/Elven forces, completely screwing up Francis' plan. He and Herzo both run off, and Lloyd remembers that Ylenne is walking around unprotected - and runs to her aid. She has been surrounded by elven warriors and the General Patton from before. --------------------------------- |BOSS(ELVS) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |Elf Knight+ 150 | --------------------------------- After defeating the two Elf Knights, the rest of your party returns, and General Patton recognizes Akra as a traitor, preparing next to attack her. --------------------------------- |BOSS(GPTN) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |General Patton+ 345 | --------------------------------- Once you've taken down Patton, the mastermind behind all this chaos is revealed as Queen Brimhild. Immediately Lloyd rushes in to try to kill her, but is thrown back by Francis De La Cross' Legendary flame sword and awesome agility. Clearly outmatched here, Akra saves you from the wrath of Queen Brimhild and Francis. You are given one last look at Port Bermire, now in ruins, and sent back to Shamil's shop. Rendalf returns to the force with good news that he found a way to Hakshiman Island and you all set off. ------------------------------------------------ 27. Hakshiman Island [HKSH] ------------------------------------------------ ------- |PARTY: Lloyd, Ylenne, Rendalf, Rudoug, Akra Man, the music on this island is awesome... sadly enough, however, this will be the home of the most annoying experiences you'll have in all of Astonishia. This area is full of giants that you can use to grab some (not so) quick level ups, but we'll want to head to the forest first... since there isn't much of any other options. ------------------------------------------------ 28. Hakshiman Island Forest [HKSF] ------------------------------------------------ ------- |PARTY: Lloyd, Ylenne, Rendalf, Rudoug, Akra Head up the northern path to grab a Hella Ghetto Cloak then down the lower path for a Kiss of Dwarf(ugh). Try to continue and you will see a cutscene where a elf is getting jumped, and you jump in to help. --------------------------------- |BOSS(ELVS) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |Krok Kai Garolin Sdman.165 | --------------------------------- After that low EXP boss, the elf will introduce yourself to you as Jenas from Halken Village. A story scene ensues where Jenas proves she isn't like the rest of the elves and offers to help you get off this island, and then Jenas will become a permanent party member, equip her with the bow you bought earlier. Now go all the way to the lowest part of the forest, and keep going right until you see a chest, this will be the [BLUE ONYX] you need later on. You can go ahead and take the eastern exit out of the forest. ------------------------------------------------ 29. Hakshiman Island - Main [HKS2] ------------------------------------------------ ------- |PARTY: Lloyd, Ylenne, Rendalf, Rudoug, Akra, Jenas You could level up here, but quite frankly, the enemies here aren't worth it, and you'll need all the items you can get in the next - and most annoyingly long-lived - dungeon to come. Head to the northern cave. ------------------------------------------------ SIDEQUEST 11: The Legendary Sword 1 [SQ11] ------------------------------------------------ ------- |PARTY: Lloyd, Ylenne, Rendalf, Rudoug, Akra, Jenas Head to the forest on the eastmost side of Hakshiman Island and in the center is a hidden little area. There's a bomb here, and a whole lot of tiles with elemental symbols on them for the symbol of each magic world, I'm not sure if the order they must be done in is random or not, but I had to go in this order: -Magic of The Recovery World (Plus Symbol) -Magic of The Psychic Power World (Eye) -Magic of The Transformation World (S-Looking Thing) -Magic of The Air Vacuum World (Cloud) -Magic of The Fire World (Ember) -Magic of The Ice World (Snowflake) -Magic of The Lightning World (Bolt) If for some reason, you just can't get this right, just keep trying to open the chest, Ylenne will get mad and just give you the order to activate the panelsin various times before giving in and just opening the chest for you. You will recieve the [METEOR SHARD], the last piece you need to the Legendary Blade that is Lloyd's best weapon: The Stonecutter. Now just to find someone who can forge it. ------------------------------------------------ 30. Purplonin Cave [PPLC] ------------------------------------------------ ------- |PARTY: Lloyd, Ylenne, Rendalf, Rudoug, Akra, Jenas Alright, welcome to the most annoying dungeon on this UMD(or ISO/CSO - you filthy, stinking pirate). Why is this cave annoying? There are a lot of enemies in here that are simply immune to way too many attacks/techs and you can rarely run away from them... and they keep using annoying techniques like "Formason" and "Ier Cutter", that's not even the worst part. After you've depleted all your MP trying to defeat these stupid undeads, you get no where near enough EXP to compensate for your efforts. Luckily, thanks to Jenas coming up at the last moment, you now have two healers. --------------------------------------------------------- |If you'd like to leave really quick, and stock up at | |Steeler Village first before doing this, there's | |actually a really quick way out of this dungeon. Take | |the second staircase and go all the way down, then to | |the left and take the staircase going upwards. Go left | |again at your next opportunity and after a long path, | |you should see the exit. Don't forget smoke shells! | | | |You can get out here, but remember, you need to come | |back because there is an important item here. | --------------------------------------------------------- From the Hakshiman entrance, go down the westmost staircase first and keep walking against all the walls until you find a hidden passage going downwards, somewhere in there is a Knight Shield and 200G. Leave the hidden passage and the next passage downward will lead you to a staircase. There's a healing pool on this floor if you need to recover, keep following that path to reach another staircase and take the northern path to receive another Knight Shield and the [RED ONYX] that we will need for Fort Ganberg. Then take the southern passage to another staircase. On this floor, there's only one path to follow which will lead you back to the floor where the recovery pool is. This is a good place to get some level ups since the endgame is near. When you're ready, head back to the beginning where there isfour staircases, take the third staircase to find a huge room with a circlet of wisdom and return. Since the fourth staircase only leads to the same path as the first staircase, the only one left is the second staircase. Go left at your first chance for a King's Lunch Box and grab the Ring of Storm on your way to the staircase, and a ring mail on this new floor in the southern section along the path. Keep following the path and go north to reach another large room with a Finger of Sedna and Seed of Life, when leaving this room, don't turn downward, just keep walking into the wall for a secret passage for a Magic Potion and Meatloaf, and return to the path to reach the exit... whew. Only a little bit left. Back on the Port Bermire Area. Whip out your mad football skills to dodge enemies until you can get to the far southwestern side where there is a town. ------------------------------------------------ 31. Steeler Village [STLR] ------------------------------------------------ ------- |PARTY: Lloyd, Ylenne, Rendalf, Rudoug, Akra, Jenas Stock up here, this is the last chance you'll get before you head off to Fort Ganberg. After you've done all you need to, leave Steeler and go to the Village to the north. ------------------------------------------------ SIDEQUEST 12: Hogtied [SQ12] ------------------------------------------------ When you get to Steeler Village, go to the cave to the right of the item shop, and a short scene will ensue where Rendalf tries his hardest to lead you away when Ylenne decides to investigate further when Rendalf's wife emerges, misinterpreting the situation as Rendalf bringing other women home. Ylenne and Jenas quickly get out of the line of fire, and let Rendalf take one of the most intense beatings of a lifetime as he tries to calm down his hostile wife. Eventually you escape her wrath, and learn that Rendalf had less trouble with Chrydaron and discuss Rendalf's "relationship" for a little while. ------------------------------------------------ SIDEQUEST 13: The Legendary Sword 2 [SQ13] ------------------------------------------------ In Steeler Village, go to the forgery and talk to the Blacksmith. By now, you should have the: -Stonecutter Handle -Magic Potion -Meteor Shard And can now have the Legendary Sword forged... but you'll have to pass some time before you can receive it... when you do, congrats, you've got the most powerful sword for Lloyd! As an added bonus, he will also give you ultimate weapons for the rest of your characters, and you can sell your old stuff to finally get back some of all that money you spent. ------------------------------------------------ 32. Halken Village [HLKN] ------------------------------------------------ ------- |PARTY: Lloyd, Ylenne, Rendalf, Rudoug, Akra, Jenas The Village has been totally destroyed by Ferarin forces and you walk right into to an elf slaying crusade. --------------------------------- |BOSS(ELSQ) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |Elf Archer+ 140 | --------------------------------- After defeating them, the tragedy of Halken Village exposes just how terribly evil Queen Brimhild really is and finalize your goal as to return the suffering she's caused on others. Go to the first tent to the left of the entrance to find a new spell [Dikner Steel], then take the northern exit to the barren land. First off, we will go to the forest to the west. ------------------------------------------------ 33. Barren Land - Forest [BLDF] ------------------------------------------------ ------- |PARTY: Lloyd, Ylenne, Rendalf, Rudoug, Akra, Jenas Head westward as much as you can and around the small incave to receive some Speed Boots, then back out and southeast until you reach a entry into the mazelike area that branches off into 2 paths. Go left and follow that small path to obtain the [BLACK ONYX]. ------------------------------------------------- |From here, you are now ready to go on to the | |final level, so you can skip on to Fort Ganberg| | | |If you'd like to continue, then we'll carry on | |to the Barren Land caves. | ------------------------------------------------- Return to the intersection and head right to grab a mood pill, and we're ready to leave this place, and begin exploring the cave that's right next to here, if you've gotten lost in this forest, it's just one big circle on the outside, so follow the longest path to the exit. ------------------------------------------------ SIDEQUEST 14. Gaining the Advantage [SQ14] ------------------------------------------------ Right by the forest with the BLACK ONYX, and below Fort Ganberg, there is a cave with some very high EXP monsters and great treasure that I recommend trying to tackle before the endgame, since Fort Ganberg can be seriously tough to handle. As soon as you enter, start heading west and check the skeleton you encounter for a Magic Potion and 500G, and at the end of the path, grab the Sphere of Purification. Return to the entrance and take the other path until you reach a split, head north and the path will end with a lightning rod, then take the southern path that will lead to a underground stream area blocking your access to a chest. We'll grab that in a few seconds, so just keep following the path to reach the center and a Ring of Storm. Now back to town to prepare for Fort Ganberg. Buy whatever you need from Daria, then approach the fort. Lloyd will use the Red, Black and Blue onyxes, and you will be able to enter. ------------------------------------------------ 34. Fort Ganberg [FINL] ------------------------------------------------ ------- |PARTY: Lloyd, Ylenne, Rendalf, Rudoug, Akra, Jenas Head up the grand staircase and a cutscene will ensue. Brimhild has already beaten you to reaching this area, and Francis De La Cross now stands before you, with his crew of elven warriors. --------------------------------- |BOSS(END1) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |Francis De La Cross+ 685 | --------------------------------- Lloyd will finally strike Francis to his knees and discover why Francis held back, as well as the motive behind Brimhild's desire for the Cainan's staff, and what led to her corruption. After Francis is gone, you gain his magnetic cape, and can finally enter the fort. As soon as you enter, you can feel the chaos of Brimhild's magical energy tainting the natural flow, and regain control of your party. Go northeast, and into the small room south for a Magic Potion, then exit and keep following the path. Keep yourself healed because a rather sudden boss fight is right ahead. The path will eventually fade into a cutscene and the General Patton from many encounters ago will make another appearance here in another attempt to take revenge on the traitor Akra. --------------------------------- |BOSS(END2) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |General Patton+ 540 | --------------------------------- After defeat, Patton attempts to retreat and opens a trap floor beneath you while he makes his escape. Now on 1B, there's only one path to follow, and it will lead you to a cutscene where you find a hologram of an angelic for who speaks a different tongue(that seems oddly familiar to filters for foul language). Jenas deciphers the speech of the angel as to understand what kind of war the elves have started in their crusade to overrun humankind. The scene will end and you can grab the Ancient Stone. Continue downward and, to the right, is a small collection of books and a chest with a Headache inside. Read the scrolls on the bookshelves and Rudoug will find a secret one that tells more of Astonishia's history, and sort of fills you in on an incident with how the elves also let themselves become blind and their motive evil ages ago... somewhat interesting because then you notice history has repeated itself, just with a different scenario and Queen Brimhild as the cause this time around. Exit the room and go west for a long path that will lead to a set of stairs. You're now back on 1F. If the curiousity is simply killing you, you can go back to where Patton pulled the switch on you to reveal that the chest you missed out on contained a Grilled Eel(well... at least it's not a PB&J Lunch Box like before), after you've gone on a bit, you'll encounter Queen Brimhild again, but this time, the skin behind the mask is no where near as old and baggy as before. After showing off her new youth, she retreats to the top of the Castle, but leaves you something to "play" with. --------------------------------- |BOSS(END3) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |Iron Golem+ 980 | --------------------------------- After defeating them, head up the staircase and you will see General Patton yet again stands in your path, determined to hold you back this time, but instead of fighting him, you hit him with a projectile and he runs off. This floor is sort of a maze, so after you get done with Patton, follow the path he fled on until reaching a split and go south to find a King's Lunch Box and seed of life. Before leaving the room, go directly west from that lowest chest to find a secret area in the wall that leads to a room full of monkeys and a chest with a Magic Potion and King's Lunch Box within, exit and, at the split, take the west path that will lead to the mazelike area, just keep heading east and you'll arrive at a staircase. At the top lies some dude named Rodiac that's in the way of the passage, who, apparently not only has nothing to do with this game or the storyline, but isn't even one of Brimhild's commanders... just some Ferarin Knight in your way... yeah. --------------------------------- |BOSS(END4) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |General Rodiac+ 675 | --------------------------------- After defeating this random warrior, you get a Shining Shield and can carry on. Straight ahead, there is a healing pool. ------------------------------------------------- |This is the absolute best place to level up, | |or gain money and items you can use or sell | |for a lot of money. | ------------------------------------------------- Just north of that pool is a path that will lead to a Sphere of Purification. At the lowest level of the floor is a Kiss of Dwarf. When you're ready to proceed, head into the massive library and read everything that is there. After reading all 7 records, Queen Brimhild will approach you again and congratulate you on your progress, then Generals Herzo and Patton will enter. --------------------------------- |BOSS(END5) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |General Herzo 680 | --------------------------------- After their defeat, Patton attempts to run again, and is attacked by Herzo for being such a coward. A combat between Akra and Herzo ensues, but is interrupted by Patton, who kills her from behind for attacking him. Akra finishes off Patton and takes Herzo to her arms for the rest of the scene. Now in control of your characters, you can access a northern door that leads to the final area of the game. Heal, save and continue. Grab the seed of life and red pepper powder ahead, then take the large exit. At last, Queen Brimhild is before you. The final scene ensues, and Queen Brimhild reveals all of her sinister plan to Lloyd and the group and promises to return the pain you've all caused her elven army and obtain enough power to dominate humankind. --------------------------------- |BOSS(QBRM) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |Queen Brimhild+ 1200 | --------------------------------- After being defeated, Akra rushes in to try and destroy the crystal and stop Brimhild's plan, is struck, but takes advantage of Brimhild's own arrogance to deceive her and destroy the crystal with her last ounce of strength. A blinding while light envelops Brimhild and she dissapears. A white magic crest now lies where there was a wormhole and it activates with the last trace of Brimhild's power, summoning a huge white dragon named Kasirak, a guardian of the creator Relka himself. --------------------------------- |BOSS(GRDN) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |White Dragon Kasirak 3750 | --------------------------------- After you defeat him, you get the typical "Oh noes! Wipe out the thieves first and hit him with ZIP Attack as much as you can --------------------------------- |BOSS(TRM2) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |Trumman 150 | |-Weak Thief 30 | |-Weak Thief 30 | |-Weak Thief 30 | --------------------------------- • Party: Lloyd • Suggested Level: 6~7 • Difficulty: 4/10 He likes to use Pyra and Metsha Pyra a lot, so keep a lot of bread on hand and use ZIP Defense immediately. Wipe out the thieves first and hit him with ZIP Attack as much as you can. He is a bit stronger, so watch out for critical attacks. --------------------------------- |BOSS(CWRD) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |Sir John 171 | --------------------------------- • Party: Lloyd • Suggested Level: Doesn't really matter... • Difficulty: 0.5/10 He sucks. He has no skills in any aspects. Just hit him a few times and he'll start to run away. Finish the coward off. --------------------------------- |BOSS(BDTG) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |Buff Thief 107 | |-Weak Thief 60 | |-Tough Thief 83 | --------------------------------- • Party: Lloyd • Suggested Level: 7~8 • Difficulty: 3/10 All the thieves have really high attack. Use ZIP Defense as soon as you get into the battle, and use the terrain to your advantage. Since there are so many narrow paths, back into one so that you one have to fight one of them at a time. Use ZIP attack a lot and keep your HP from getting low because they all have high critical hit chances. --------------------------------- |BOSS(MTHV) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |Tough Thief 78 | |-Tough Thief 78 | |-Weak Thief 45 | |-Weak Thief 45 | |-Weak Thief 45 | --------------------------------- • Party: Lloyd, Rendalf • Suggested Level: 8 • Difficulty: 4/10 All the thieves have really high attack. Use ZIP Defense as soon as you get into the battle, and use the terrain to your advantage. Since there are so many narrow paths, back into one so that you one have to fight one of them at a time. Use ZIP attack a lot and keep your HP from getting low because they all have high critical hit chances. Recover very often and watch out for archers' high range attacks. Rendalf has some good high attack specials that can compensate for his low movement and help chop down on them. --------------------------------- |BOSS(TKRF) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |Thief Lord Karof 145 | |-Tough Thief 60 | |-Tough Thief 60 | --------------------------------- • Party: Lloyd • Suggested Level: 9~10 • Difficulty: 5/10 This will be your first really tough battle, namely because Karof can attack twice per turn, and has a habit of being incredibly lucky with critical hits. Have LOTS of bread on you, and take out the Tough Thieves as fast as you can with the ZIP Attack while trying to let them corner you so Karof can't get to you. After you've taken out the Tough Thieves, hide and use a magic potion, then barrage Karof with ZIP Attack until he is defeated. --------------------------------- |BOSS(SZIN) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |Suzain 210 | |-Akra 200 | |-Elf Knight 85 | |-Elf Knight 85 | |-Elf Knight 85 | |-Elf Archer 55 | |-Elf Archer 55 | --------------------------------- • Party: Lloyd, Ylenne, Rendalf, Lezail • Suggested Level: 12-13 • Difficulty: 4/10 Take out the knights and archers first. Since they outnumber you so greatly, they can take advantage of a high critical chance. Akra will walk right in to get stormed, so stick to barraging her with specials. Suzain is the real worry, she uses the strongest Fire Spells and hides in a narrow passage where few people can fit without bunching up. Since Suzain's fire spells are so strong, you want to avoid bunching up so that she can't hit a lot of your party members at once. --------------------------------- |BOSS(DRDF) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |Dreadford+ 410 | |-Elf Archer 66 | |-Elf Archer 66 | |-Elf Archer 66 | |-Elf Archer 66 | --------------------------------- • Party: Lloyd, Rudoug • Suggested Level: 13 • Difficulty: 2/10 Nothing much to worry about here. Since the enemy starts off in a linear formation, this would be the perfect opportunity to abuse your Lightning Screw attack. Dreadford has quite a bit of HP, so if your Lloyd is on Lv13, Triple Cross helps a LOT here. Dreadford seems to have no good specials, so just keep attacking him regularly if you run out of MP. --------------------------------- |BOSS(KCLF) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |Knuckalf 435 | |-Gaf Garorin Wizard 92 | |-Gaf Garorin Wizard 92 | |-Gaf Garorin Wizard 92 | |-Gaf Garorin Wizard 92 | |-Gaf Garorin Wizard 92 | --------------------------------- • Party: Lloyd, Ylenne, Hataik • Suggested Level: 13 • Difficulty: 7/10 You start off with a fair amount of distance between your forces, so use the space to use any recovery items you may need if this boss came a bit too suddenly, beware though, since there is so much space, the enemy has ample time to cast Ier Barrier to rise their defenses and use their range against you. Knuckalf has the spell "Formason" which takes out a lot of HP on a single unit, and every one of the Gaf Garorin Wizards can use the best fire spells. Knuckalf has a lot of thunder attacks that can easily wipe out Ylenne if she's under level 11 with a single blow. He also has a lot of curing spells, so keep everyone alive and wipe him out fast. --------------------------------- |BOSS(AKRB) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |Akra 265 | |-Dreadford 410 | |-Elf Archer 54 | |-Elf Archer 54 | |-Elf Archer 54 | |-Elf Archer 54 | |-Elf Archer 54 | --------------------------------- • Party: Lloyd, Ylenne, Rendalf, Rudoug, Hataik • Suggested Level: 14 • Difficulty: 2/10 Pretty easy battle here, even without Lezail. Have Hataik and Ylenne attack as many people as they can with their high-range attacks and Lloyd/Rudoug should concentrate on Dreadford/Akra with high STR attacks. --------------------------------- |BOSS(DRGN) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |Red Dragon Chrydaron 2150 | --------------------------------- • Party: Lloyd, Ylenne, Rendalf, Rudoug, Hataik • Suggested Level: 14 • Difficulty: 8/10 Pretty huge, eh? Right off the bat, Chrydaron gets to use his flame breath which will almost knock out everyone. Recover who you can and immediately withdraw out of his range of attack before he can do it again. Stay far away from the dragon and heal yourself to maximum HP/MP. Group everyone as close together as you can get them and have Ylenne cast Pyro Ryun on everyone. Get Lloyd on the Dragon's head and Rudoug/Hataik/Rendalf on it's stomach while avoiding it's melee and flame breath attacks. It's really tough in the sense that any attack it pulls off will more than likely be instant death. Sadly, you do not get to kill such an amazingly executed boss, and it will give up after you've taken out somewhere around 1100HP. --------------------------------- |BOSS(HRZO) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |General Herzo 380 | |-General Patton 275 | |-Elf Knight 140 | |-Elf Knight 140 | |-Elf Knight 140 | --------------------------------- • Party: Lloyd, Ylenne, Rendalf, Rudoug, Akra, Hataik, Lezail • Suggested Level: 16 • Difficulty: 5/10 Herzo is cool. Herzo is so cool, in fact, that the task of sticking to one name for her was apparently too big a challenge for SONNORi. In battle, her name is Herger for some reason, but that's lame and too close to burger, so we're gonna call her Herzo. Anyway. Like I said, she's cool, so you want to stay away from her, because her awesome melee attacks will rape your HP really hardcore. Since the dungeon before likely exhausted all your Magic Potions, best strategy is to take out the elves and Patton first, then surround Herzo to barrage her with techniques. --------------------------------- |BOSS(JKRL) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |Jikrol 1960 | --------------------------------- • Party: Lloyd, Ylenne, Rendalf, Rudoug, Akra • Suggested Level: 17~18 • Difficulty: 7/10 Start off with Pyro Ryun and get a Ier Barrier on as many people as you can, then rush Jikrol with all you've got. He has an attack called Pyra Water which can deal a LOT of damage; try to keep your people out of a formation where it could be deadly and have Ylenne ready to use Pontine whenever the need for it calls. Jikrol gets pretty tough because he has tons of MP and will cast Pyra Water every chance he gets for a HUGE amount of HP. Speaking of huge HP, much like the Dragon Chrydaron, Jikrol has loads of HP, and unlucky for us, you actually have to take all of his away. --------------------------------- |BOSS(ELVS) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |Elf Knight 150 | |-Elf Knight 150 | --------------------------------- • Party: Lloyd • Suggested Level: 17 • Difficulty: 1/10 Just two somewhat stronger Elf Knights. No strategy really needed, just don't waste too much MP because there is another boss fight coming up. --------------------------------- |BOSS(GPTN) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |General Patton 345 | |-Elf Knight 180 | |-Elf Knight 180 | |-Elf Knight 180 | |-Elf Knight 180 | --------------------------------- • Party: Lloyd, Rudoug, Akra • Suggested Level: 17 • Difficulty: 3/10 Not really all that much of a worry, let them surround you, then have Rudoug use Shock Wave, Lloyd use Blade Rain, and Akra finish anyone still alive off with Wyders. --------------------------------- |BOSS(ELVS) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |Krok Kai Garolin Sdman.165 | |-Krok Kai Garolin Sdman165 | |-Krok Kai Garolin Sdman165 | |-Gaf Garolin Wizard 130 | |-Gaf Garolin Wizard 130 | |-Gaf Garolin Wizard 130 | --------------------------------- • Party: Lloyd, Rendalf, Ylenne, Rudoug, Akra • Suggested Level: 17 • Difficulty: 2/10 Typical procedure; spam them with hi-range techniques(Blade Rain, Shock Wave, Wyders, Pyra Storm) and they'll be down and out in an instant. --------------------------------- |BOSS(ELSQ) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |Elf Archer 140 | |-Elf Archer 140 | |-Elf Knight 220 | |-Elf Knight 220 | |-Elf Knight 220 | |-Elf Knight 220 | --------------------------------- • Party: Lloyd, Rendalf, Ylenne, Rudoug, Akra, Jenas • Suggested Level: 18 • Difficulty: 1/10 Typical procedure; spam them with hi-range techniques(Blade Rain, Shock Wave, Wyders, Pyra Storm) and they'll be down and out in an instant. --------------------------------- |BOSS(END1) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |Francis De La Cross 685 | |-Elf Knight 220 | |-Elf Knight 220 | |-Elf Knight 220 | |-Elf Knight 220 | --------------------------------- • Party: Lloyd, Rendalf, Ylenne, Rudoug, Akra, Jenas • Suggested Level: 20 • Difficulty: 5/10 The only one to worry about here is actually Francis. He has some incredible attack power thanks to his legendary Flame Sword, and not many have good defense against it, so take out his Elf Knights with Ylenne's Hellfire, and have Rudoug, Jenas, Lloyd and Rendalf use all their best melee techniques, while Akra constantly is using Shiken and Ylenne using Blade. Also, if you'd like to make this a lot more dramatic a battle, you can let them kill off everyone else and let Lloyd go at Commander Francis completely solo(only if you have enough curative items). --------------------------------- |BOSS(END2) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |General Patton 540 | |-Elf Mage 160 | |-Elf Mage 160 | |-Elf Archer 140 | |-Elf Archer 140 | |-Elf Archer 140 | --------------------------------- • Party: Lloyd, Rendalf, Ylenne, Rudoug, Akra, Jenas • Suggested Level: 20 • Difficulty: 4/10 Take out the Elf Mages as fast as you can, they have a lot of really annoying and powerful spells, and use Rendalf to snipe the archers with Enomdul. Surround Patton with Akra, Lloyd, Rudoug and Jenas, and use all high-powered melee attacks. --------------------------------- |BOSS(END3) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |Iron Golem 980 | |Iron Golem 980 | --------------------------------- • Party: Lloyd, Rendalf, Ylenne, Rudoug, Akra, Jenas • Suggested Level: 20 • Difficulty: 7/10 Man, these things are no joke. They have high attack, high defense, and high magic resistance. Start off by having Jenas cast Arun Dikner on Lloyd, Rendalf and Akra, then start sniping them with Lightning Harken, Hellfire, Triple Cross, Shock Wave and Enomdul. Keep Jenas' and Ylenne's MP high so they can cast Pontine and Healing Tear whenever it's needed. --------------------------------- |BOSS(END4) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |General Rodiac 675 | |-Elf Mage 180 | |-Elf Knight 220 | |-Elf Knight 220 | |-Elf Knight 220 | |-Elf Knight 220 | --------------------------------- • Party: Lloyd, Rendalf, Ylenne, Rudoug, Akra, Jenas • Suggested Level: 21 • Difficulty: 4/10 If you have the speed boots equipped to Ylenne, this will go alot quicker. Since there's quite a bit of land to cover, have Akra cast Pyro Ryun so that your party can move faster. Let the enemies accumulate so that Ylenne can take them all out with Hellfire, then use all melee attacks on Rodiac until he is fallen. --------------------------------- |BOSS(END5) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |General Herzo 680 | |-General Patton 441 | |-Elf Knight 200 | |-Elf Knight 200 | |-Elf Mage 150 | |-Elf Mage 150 | --------------------------------- • Party: Lloyd, Rendalf, Ylenne, Rudoug, Akra, Jenas • Suggested Level: 21 • Difficulty: 4/10 Take out the Elf Mages as fast as you can, they have a lot of really annoying and powerful spells, and use Ylenne/Rendalf to defeat the knights with Enomdul, Wyders, Pyra Water and the like. Surround Patton and Herzo with Akra, Lloyd, Rudoug and Jenas, and use all high-powered melee attacks. --------------------------------- |BOSS(QBRM) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |Queen Brimhild 1200 | |-Elf Mage 190 | |-Elf Mage 190 | |-Elf Mage 190 | |-Elf Mage 190 | --------------------------------- • Party: Lloyd, Rendalf, Ylenne, Rudoug, Akra, Jenas • Suggested Level: 24 • Difficulty: 9/10 Right off the bat, everyone will cast Ier Barrier on one another, making it nearly impossible to get in a good attack. Have Jenas cast Arun Dikner on Lloyd, then withdraw everyone else while you send in Lloyd, Rendalf and Rudoug to wipe out the Elf Mages. Make sure that, all throughout the battle, you keep everyone scattered so that no one spell can hit too many people. The enemies all have a plethora of fierce spells, including everything from Formason to Brimhild's own special; Meteor Attack, which will almost kill everyone that is under Lv25. After you've taken out the Elf Mages, try to linger the match for a little bit while you recover your lost MP as to let her Ier Barrier wear off, then slip in to barrage her with everything you've got before she can get in a Meteor Attack. --------------------------------- |BOSS(GRDN) HP(Est.)| |-------------------------------| |White Dragon Kasirak 3750 | --------------------------------- • Party: Lloyd, Rendalf, Ylenne, Rudoug, Jenas • Suggested Level: 25 • Difficulty: 10/10 In this battle, you're simply totally put at a disadvantage in every way. This dragon has a similar moveset as Brimhild, except uses Meteor Attack MUCH more often, and doesn't make itself available by moving, and even worse, you're now without Akra to cast Pyro Ryun and other lightning spells, so now must use Ylenne as the main source for offensive magic AND a backup healer for Jenas. Since the dragon does not move(much like Chrydaron), you are put in a safety zone in which you can use to recover HP/MP from the battle before. When you're good and ready, start sending people out to get in all the damage they can before being hit by Meteor Attack, then repeat until Kasirak hasn't enough MP to use Meteor Attack. Or, as an alternative(a whole lot slower, but much more failsafe), you can let Kasirak kill off everyone but Ylenne, and let it use Ier Barrier every 15 turns until it has no more MP. This will drag the battle to at least 45 minutes, but will leave Kasirak open to everything you've got. This is gonna be a long battle, no matter which way you cut it, but the best method if you want to keep everyone alive is to attack like this -------------------------------------------- Name Range Attacks -------------------------------------------- -Lloyd Close Triple Cross, Blade Rain -Rudoug Close 4 Strike Combo -Ylenne Very Far Hellfire -Jenas Far Lightning Harken -Rendalf Far Enomdul while making sure to withdraw momentarily for MP recovery. Since Ylenne's Hellfire can reach across the entire level, you can keep her completely back against a wall, while having Jenas and Rendalf JUST WITHIN RANGE to correctly use Lightning Harken and Enomdul. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾￾ 5. It's not that Astonishia is a bad game, it's just that every RPG available on the PSP is better than Astonishia, so if you happen to own every PSP RPG out there that is not Astonishia, I suppose it could serve well.
