I.     Introduction

This is a FAQ for the Atari 2600 game Slot Machine.  It contains information
on how to play, descriptions of the 8 available game modes, and an explanation
of how the betting & payoffs work.

Slot Machine is a video game version of its namesake.  In Slot Machine, you
can play the one armed bandit against the CPU or a second player.

II.    Getting Started

Press the GAME SELECT switch to cycle through the 8 game modes.  The game
number is displayed in the top left and the number of players & the number of 
paylines are displayed in the top right.  Press the GAME RESET switch to begin
play.

III.   Basic Gameplay

A.  Betting

Both players play the same machine at the same time.  In a single player game,
the CPU will bet a random number of coins each turn.

Player one's bank is displayed in the top right and player two's in the top
left.  Press the button to bet a coin, you can bet up to 5 coins a turn.  When
you are finished betting pull down on the joystick to simulate pulling the
lever to spin the reels.

B.  Paylines

Payline 1:  Center Line
Payline 2:  Top Line
Payline 3:  Bottom Line
Payline 4:  Diagonal Top Left to Bottom Right
Payline 5:  Diagonal Bottom Left to Top Right

In games 1, 2, 5, and 6 only the center line pays.  

In games 3, 4, 7, and 8 you can have up to 5 paylines based on the number of
coins you bet.

C.  Game Over

The game ends when one of the players goes broke.  After the game is over, you
can continue playing by press the GAME RESET switch once, this will add 25
coins to both players banks.  To reset both players banks to 25 coins, press
the GAME RESET switch a second time.
