Great graphics, good music, fun gameplay, and violence are what make this game the best. I wanted to write a FAQ for it because there wasn't one out there and I know this game pretty well so go figure! **Note - I have tried to the best of my abilities to make sure that the information contained within each table and or list in this guide is as accurate as possible. If I have made any mistakes please email me with the corrections** --------------- Version History --------------- V. 1.0 - Started 11/18/02 Finished 12/13/02 ------------------ Object Of The Game ------------------ The goal of this game is to battle your way through 5 levels, trying to place 4th or better to win money and advance to the next round. Each level becomes harder though, as the enemies will have faster bikes, and the levels become increasingly longer. You may do any damage to any other biker, which includes kicking, hitting, running into/over and using a club to knock them from their bikes. Be careful of the Cops, as they will Bust you if you crash within the vicinity of one. You start the game with the Shuriken 400 Bike, and 1000$ in cash. ---------- Gameplay ---------- Controls Main menu START - Begins the race A - Selects which player is currently in use B - Turns Music on or off C - Enters the Password and name change screen Directional Pad - Selects which race you will enter Password/Name Change Menu START - Exits to main Menu A - Changes the letter/number forward B - Changes the letter/number backward C - Selects other player Directional Pad - moves the cursor In Game Controls START - Pauses game A - Brake B - Accelerate C - Punch Directional Pad - Steers Bike D Pad + Up - Backhand Punch D Pad + Down - Kick After Race Menu START - Returns to Main Menu (See above) A - Proceeds to High Score Screen B - Proceeds to Race Results, Cash, Password Screen C - Proceeds to Bike Shop where you may purchase another Bike Dirextional Pad - No Function The Racing Screen As you begin to race, you may see all the little bars and other do-dads which may not make sense right away. Well, here is what they do: The Left Most Green Bar This is your life meter. It has the player's name underneath it. It starts out being green, and if you get punched by other riders it will then turn yellow then red. If it is really low and red, and you get hit, you will fall off your bike. The Middle Green Bar Underneath this meter reads Bike. This is how well your bike is holding together. It starts out green, but will change to yellow and red as you crash into things. If it gets past red, then you wreck and will be forced to pay a hefty amount to fix your bike. This is THE most important thing to be aware of in a race! The Right Most Green Bar This bar is the other riders' life meter. The name underneath the bar will change according to who the closest biker is, as compared to you. This meter will also change to yellow and red, and they will fall off their bikes if they go below red. There are 2 rear view mirrors, one beneath your name and life meter, and one underneath the other bikers name and life meter. Underneath the Bike meter is the speedometer. This tells you how fast you are going. Also, in the middle of the speedometer are three little numbers telling you how far you have gone in the race. See below for each races length. Underneath the left side of the Right most green bar is a number ranging from 1 - 15. This is your rank in the level. You start at 15th. Underneath the Ranking box is another time box. This one lists the time on the track in which you have raced. ------ Basics ------ In the early races, before you have enough cash to buy a better bike, don't worry too much about fighting people, just try to win the race Be very careful of the Cops, if you crash in front of one you will be busted and forced to pay a hefty amount of cash. Watch out for cars. When going over a hill that you can't see over, stay on the right side of the road. Write down the Password often! I can't stress this enough, if you bail, and lose all your money, then you will have to start from your last password or all over if you didn't write it down! --------------------- Road Rash Stuff --------------------- **Ranking** On each level, you are given an amount of cash based on how well you placed in the track. You need to place 3rd or better on each track within a level to advance to the next level. Here is a list of each place and their respected winnings +--------+---------+---------+---------+---------+ |Level 1 | Level 2 | Level 3 | Level 4 | Level 5 | ----------+--------+---------+---------+---------+---------+ 1st place | 750 $$ | 1500 $$ | 2250 $$ | 3000 $$ | 3750 $$ | ----------+--------+---------+---------+---------+---------+ 2nd place | 500 $$ | 1000 $$ | 1500 $$ | 2000 $$ | 2500 $$ | ----------+--------+---------+---------+---------+---------+ 3rd place | 300 $$ | 600 $$ | 900 $$ | 1200 $$ | 1500 $$ | ----------+--------+---------+---------+---------+---------+ 4th place | 200 $$ | 400 $$ | 600 $$ | 800 $$ | 1000 $$ | ----------+--------+---------+---------+---------+---------+ 5th Place | 180 $$ | 360 $$ | 540 $$ | 720 $$ | 900 $$ | ----------+--------+---------+---------+---------+---------+ 6th place | 160 $$ | 320 $$ | 480 $$ | 640 $$ | 800 $$ | ----------+--------+---------+---------+---------+---------+ 7th place | 140 $$ | 280 $$ | 420 $$ | 560 $$ | 700 $$ | ----------+--------+---------+---------+---------+---------+ 8th place | 120 $$ | 240 $$ | 360 $$ | 480 $$ | 600 $$ | ----------+--------+---------+---------+---------+---------+ 9th place | 100 $$ | 200 $$ | 300 $$ | 400 $$ | 500 $$ | ----------+--------+---------+---------+---------+---------+ 10th place| 80 $$ | 160 $$ | 240 $$ | 300 $$ | 360 $$ | ----------+--------+---------+---------+---------+---------+ 11thplace | 60 $$ | 120 $$ | 180 $$ | 200 $$ | 250 $$ | ----------+--------+---------+---------+---------+---------+ 12th place| 40 $$ | 80 $$ | 120 $$ | 160 $$ | 200 $$ | ----------+--------+---------+---------+---------+---------+ 13th place| 30 $$ | 60 $$ | 90 $$ | 120 $$ | 150 $$ | ----------+--------+---------+---------+---------+---------+ 14th place| 20 $$ | 40 $$ | 60 $$ | 80 $$ | 100 $$ | ----------+--------+---------+---------+---------+---------+ 15th place| 10 $$ | 20 $$ | 30 $$ | 40 $$ | 50 $$ | ----------+--------+---------+---------+---------+---------+ **Hazards** Throughout each level can be found various hazards which can cause you to lose control of your bike. Here is a list of them. CARS - These are the biggest problem, cars can be found on every level, going both ways on the road. Be careful not to be on the left side of the road going over a blind hill or corner. Cars come in 2 different colors: White and Yellow. OIL SLICKS - These black slicks can be found on many of the levels, they are usually located on the left, center, or right parts of the road and when you hit them, you may spin out. Don't worry too much though, these don't usually affect you too much. SAND - These yellow sand clusters are pretty much the same as the oil slicks, except they are sand. Again, don't worry too much about them. DIRT - Too me, these look like gopher holes in the road. They don't seem to have any affect on the bikes, so don't bother worrying about these. ANIMALS - Deer and cows are the hazards in this category. Most of the time, they are located off the road on either side, but sometimes will stand or lie on the road. If standing up, when you hit them, it is like hitting a car, you will fly off your bike and have to run back to it. If lying down, you can use them as a jump to get some air! ROCKS - The least of the hazards to worry about, rocks in the street or to the side of the road will not cause any damage or wreckage. You can jump off of these as well, but with smaller air than an animal. ROAD WORK SIGNS - These are construction signs that are set up on the edges of the roads. they are black and yellow in color and can pop up very suddenly. If you hit one of these, you will wreck. Be careful of these! BIKERS - This is of course the main thing to worry about while racing. Be careful if bikers with clubs, most of these guys are mean. **Wrecking** Be careful not to crash too many times within a level, or you may damage your bike so badly that it may cost a ton of money to repair your bike. Stay on the right side of the road going over hills, stay on the road, and stay away from cars. **Cops** These are the most annoying bikers in the game. They are invincible so they cannot be knocked off their bikes or wrecked. On the other hand, they will do anything in their power to wreck you. ---------- The Levels ---------- *Level 1* Sierra Nevada Length - 5.6 Miles Pacific Coast Length - 5.3 Miles Redwood Forest Length - 5.4 Miles Palm Desert Length - 5.7 Miles Grass Valley Length - 5.1 Miles *Level 2* Sierra Nevada Length - 7.7 Miles Pacific Coast Length - 7.8 Miles Redwood Forest Length - 7.9 Miles Palm Desert Length - 7.7 Miles Grass Valley Length - 7.8 Miles *Level 3* Sierra Nevada Length - 10.3 Miles Pacific Coast Length - 10.3 Miles Redwood Forest Length - 10.3 Miles Palm Desert Length - 10.2 Miles Grass Valley Length - 10.3 Miles *Level 4* Sierra Nevada Length - 12.6 Miles Pacific Coast Length - 14.4 Miles Redwood Forest Length - 12.8 Miles Palm Desert Length - 12.6 Miles Grass Valley Length - 12.7 Miles *Level 5* Sierra Nevada Length - 15.4 Miles Pacific Coast Length - 15.3 Miles Redwood Forest Length - 15.0 Miles Palm Desert Length - 14.9 Miles Grass Valley Length - 15.0 Miles Sierra Nevada This is one of the hardest levels. Lots of sharp turns and cars as well. Keep to the righ side of the road and be sure no to slide off the road around the corners. Pacific Coast This level is pretty easy, with only a couple of corners to worry about. Other than that, just watch for hills and intersections. Easy stuff! Redwood Forest Another hard level. this has lots of really sharp corners, blind turns, and big hills. Be careful on this level, especially during the Swithback turns. Palm Desert A medium difficult level, a couple of sharp turns, but not too much going on here. Near the 1.7 mile mark, becareful of a big jump, the road veers to the right after the jump so be sure not to keep going straight. Other than that, it's all good. Grass Valley The easiest of the levels, this one is mainly straight, with only a few corners to be aware of. Has a couple of cool jumps too! Don't worry about this level, even on the higher levels. --------- The Bikes --------- NAME: Shuriken 400 HORSE POWER: 60 WEIGHT: 400 LBS. PRICE: 4000$ COMMENT: Big on handling, short on power.
