Kingdom Of Paradise ****************************************************************************** * Walkthrough by madden_master06 (owner@techemail.com) * ****************************************************************************** * Walkthrough * [1.0] - Beginning of the game [1.1] – Chase of the thief (Northern Genbu) [1.2] - Western Byakko [1.3] - Message to Suzaku [1.4] – The Moon sea [1.5] – Back to Chikuan [1.6] - Return to Hakuzen and Gokuhu island [1.7] - Defend the white tiger clan [1.8] - The fight with Banko * Secrets & cheats * [2.0] - Secrets [2.1] - Free-style scroll locations [2.2] – Helpful Hints *Thanks* [3.0] – Thanks to ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [1.0] - Beginning The game starts as your main character, Shinbu, trains on top of a cliff. After the cut scene Shinbu will move to Genbu-Seiryu Highway going to Chikuan but hears some noises, from a girl, Seiryu disciple, that is being attacked by 3 warriors. Shinbu decides to help the girl out. This is the first battle in the game and this is very easy, you only need to get one of them to 0 HP and the battle will end. And you got only one Bugei scroll, Seiryu 4-dan, at the moment too and no chi arts so just keep attacking. After the battle the girl, named Sui Lin, tells you she she needs to get to Chikuan and is looking for a guy named Shinbu. Yes, that's you. Shinbu decides not to reveal himself yet but escorts her to Chikuan. You are now moved automatically to Eastern Seiryu - Chikuan, your hometown. You are advised to go to the far end of the village to Prof. Seidatsu's school so this is what you should do. There are shops around this city and an inn but you shouldn't be needing those at the moment but crush all boxes and pots for items. Do not sell anything here. Once you reach the western exit just continue to the left ignoring all people and go into the Seidatsu's house. Shinbu and Sui Lin have a discussion. She reveals that your all clan has been totally obliterated. You and she are the only ones alive now and one of you need to become a Clan lord and restore the clan. Seidatsu comes in and talks to you too about stuff. He gives you the Ginmei Sword, the weapon you'll be using basically the rest of the game. He tells about your father and San'Yuan techniques, ultimate style from all other techniques are derived from. After the talk is over grab the chest on left, it contains a soul talisman, which automatically resurrects you in case of death so it's wise to equip it immediately. It's not worth equipping other items because it's faster to use them from the options menu and it doesn't hinder your combat. Notice also that your chi art is now available on the left right corner in the circle. Keep it loaded all the time and use in the beginning of the combat. Talk to Seidatsu and Sui Lin until they have said everything and leave. After this you get a cut scene from the town and see Shinbu wonder about his future. Sights are mind boggling and the tune coming from playing the Ginmei Sword is kinda catchy. After the cut scene you wake up from the inn. Go down and out of the building and then run back to Seidatsu's house. You have a discussion again with Seidatsu and Sui Lin and decide to go to the Seiryu clan. Seidatsu gives you a San'Yuan kenbu, which isn't very useful anywhere but in the beginning of the game. Run to the door and Seidatsu gives you a lesson about chi. Make notes what's good against what, although it's pretty clearly visible in the Chi Arts options anyways. Also note what he says about kenpus. This is way for maximizing your damage but I'll let you know more about it when we actually get a free-style scroll. Off we go to the Seiryu temple. Head out of the building, then east out of the village. At the games you have a short discussion again. After it you are again at the Genbu-Seiryu Highway. This is good spot to get some experience and familiarize yourself with the controls. You are attacked by two sand warriors, just beat them. Note how Sui Lin works on herself so you don't need to pay attention to her. Keep in mind that stuff that monsters drop disappear fairly fast so you need to pick them as soon as possible, especially all the kenpus. Seiryu temple is located to the east so head there. Get the chests and everything in the path and if you get a Seiryu Kenpu 6 add it to your scroll at Bugei Scrolls options. Getting it is very advisable but not necessary. It helps a lot a bit later. Notice how it knocks down the opponent when it hits. Head right until you exit the area and get to second party of the Highway. Here you need to head more to right, not to north over the rice plantations. In a while you get to a chest that contains a vita drop, pick it up and continue to right. At the temple just rush in. Continue to right until Shinbu and Sui Lin start talking. They notice that someone has buried everyone. After the discussion is a good point to heal yourself with refresh drops. Go right and explore the area around arena getting all items and go inside after. The Seiryu Sword has been stolen so just pick the chest in here. It contains Seiryu 5 dan scroll. If you have all bugeis for it, add them to the scroll and start using it but otherwise just let it be for now until you get the bugeis. Here's a good spot to save now. Head out and walk a bit towards the arena. You meet Eikoku, Bugei disciple, who buried your former clan members and master and who seeks for training. After the long discussion you are going to give a lesson to him. He's the first "boss" of this game. Humanoid bosses are vulnerable for simple techniques that knock them down. Remember that Seiryu bugei 6? Also holding O-button causes you to parry so if you are taking lot of beating use it and right after the parry hit him with your combo. If and when your combo knocks him down take some distance and wait for him to get up and then rush in and do the combo again. Fighting with this tactic makes all the human bosses fairly easy so try to hit with the last hit in your combo. If you are having trouble heal yourself at the Items options. He can be pretty hard and using chi art also at the beginning of the battle is a good idea. If you are having lots of trouble with him you should level up before coming here. After the battle he wants to loan your kenpu but you don't give it to him. He talks you into having a memorial session for your dead master. Afterwards you notice that one of your kenpus is gone and he has gone to Northern Genbu. Sui Lin forces you to follow him. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [1.1] - Chase of the thief (Northern Genbu) Get out of the temple and head west. Remember the rice plantations? Get back there. North of the plantations is a house and some chests near it. You cannot get it yet so you need to just skip it for now. From there head to Northeast. Shortly after you get to T-crossing. To north there is a harbor but for now continue just to right. At the game to Northern Genbu you meet a purple scorpion, which can take some beating. It's fairly easy thou and chi arts is a good weapon against it. At the Northern Genbu head to right and you have a discussion again. Shinbu and Sui Lin decide to part ways and Shinbu wants to go to see his parents' grave at the top of the mountain. Head to north after the discussion and again to right when the screen changes. Soon you will meet some robbers. These robbers drop bombs that explode when they die so watch out for those. Notice also the statues in the hollows. They are breakable. They also drop some kenpus so it's not a bad idea to kill them as you can get kenpus for free-style scrolls when you get it and you don't need to come back then. Especially some Suzaku kenpus are nice to get, number 10 being one of my favorites. When you get to large opening with a small hut on the right side of it head to northwest uphill. Continue to the hill all the way up killing bandits and take the recovery drop from the chest on the way and get to grave. After the talking it's time to go downhill. Notice the large ledge in the map where you cannot get by walking? Jump there when you are going downwards. It contains a chest with soul talisman. Equip it, heal and save. Then continue downwards. You notice two bounty hunters harassing a girl. You decide to cut in and of course it ends in a battle. Muzo attacks you and he's easy to defeat with similar manner as Eikoku was. He doesn't need too much beating until the talk starts again. It turns out that they killed your parents! And the fight continues with both of them against you. Just keep using the same tactic and it should be a walk in a park. Uzo goes down fast and then you need to give Muzo some more teaching and it's over. After the battle you get Bugei Byakko 4 dan and they run away. You talk to the girl, Lu Yan and her sister thinks you are messing with her and attacks you, great an another battle. You should already know what to do with humanoid bosses. She hits like 60 ton truck and her chi art causes almost 60 points of damage. She introduces herself as Li Yin. Afterwards you escort them to the bridge that ends to Kekkei Lake. Make a note where this place is located because you need to return here later. You exit the bridge. The place where you fought is to southwest from here and now you must head to southeast. Waste the bandits on the way. This and the hill where you already were are good spots to kill them too if you wish to get kenpus from them. Just exit the area and come back and they re-spawn. I decided to clean the area twice. Kill them or not head afterwards to southeast from the bridge. Sui Lin is sitting just left from you after you come out of there. She is a bit easy to miss. After talking to her head east. You come to a place where there is a closed gate with seals on it. There's a breakable boulder inside and you cannot get it yet. Head more east and you arrive to Northern Genbu - Hokusai. Hokusai is a town like Chikuan with shops and smiths. You must be wounded and you probably have money to upgrade your sword so lets head as much east as possible. You need to exit to right couple of times. It's also good idea to sell all your unnecessary crap now. That means curse bullets, essences, animal feeds and charms. When you have ventured enough east you come to place where you can exit to south. Here's the Genbu temple but don't go there yet, continue to east. At the very end of the town after the U-turn there's a smith. Ask him to temper your sword. Return back to the point where the U-turn started and where the path splits to north. Head there, before the exit there's exit to the inn go in there and rest if necessary. After that run back to the entrance to the Genbu temple and save. Go towards the temple and you can hear sounds of fighting. After short talk go in and start heading west killing the sand warriors in the way. At the end of the long bridge you find Eikoku. He asks you to help his master to fight Genra, former Genbu member. Luckily you don't need to fight him... yet. He just butchers the Genbu clan lord and takes the Genbu sword and leaves. Inside you have a chat with Eikoku, whose name has been revealed to be Eigen really. You get your kenpu back and grap the chests are the talk is finished. Inside are Genbu 5 dan-1st scroll and Fresh nectar. Talk to the Eigen and then Sui Lin and leave. There are lots of stuff to break in the yard so get them on the way out. Also on the north side of the yard, just after you come out of Clan lord's room, there is a boulder with writing on it. Go next to it and press X-button to get Genbu chi arts. After that head out and towards the inn. Shinbu and Sui Lin take a rest in the inn and a girl tells you to go to visit Kairoku, a scholar. Shinbu and Sui Lin part their ways again. Sui Lin goes to Byakko and you go to see the scholar. Run to west and exit the inn area. In the next area head south towards the dead-end that looks like a T upside down. The man in the red is Kairoku. Talk to him and he gives you Free-style scroll-1 and Kirin bugei 10. Oh, joy. If you have 1440 money or more buy Warrior's ring from the accessory store and then head back to exit in front of inn. Oh and equip the damn ring. Now that you have Free-style scroll you can start doing your own maneuvers. The scroll has only 2 slots at first but it gets more as you use it and change the kenpus in it so it is advisable to do that as much as possible. It can get to 10 slots which is maximum in the game. It also gets the next slots pretty quickly and becomes basically the only scroll you use. Experimenting with the kenpus is very fun and you need to keep in mind few things. Remember when Seidatsu told you about ordering the kenpus in right way. If you place them in right order they do more damage. This basically means that you place them in the order that is shown in Chi Arts disc. Start from one point and then move clock wise. At first this isn't so necessary but later in the game it helps a lot. Also remember how useful the knockdown effect was in Seiryu scroll? Do the same thing in your free-style scrolls. All Clans have moves that knock down opponents or even send them flying around. Place one of those in the end of the combo but not in the middle because rest of your hits just become wasted. Otherwise you are pretty free to do what ever you wish with it. I like to use kenpus that are fast, hit large area with lots hits and are a bit maneuverable. Suzaku kenpu 10 is a good example. I also like hits like the Kirin kenpu 10 what you just got. You should also have Higen arts now. It's basically that you throw your opponent with your sword. Sounds neat, is crappy but needed later in game. Ignore it for now. You should keep tempering your Ginmei Sword because sooner or later it won’t be enough to fight with. It's very good idea to train your chi arts as well because they get stronger and better. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [1.2] - Western Byakko If you need a rest take it at the inn, then continue north out of the Hokusai. Continue east and you will come to a lake. You can just walk through it or go through land from north side of it. After crossing it continue more to the east and you'll meet your first archer. They can be annoying, especially later when they get poisoned arrows. Cross the another lake and you get to the Byakko gate. It is guarded by red scorpion which hits you with it club like a baseball player doing lots of damage. Chi arts and very mobile kenpus are good against them. Waste it and get the chest with Suzaku 4-dan scroll and then head through the gate into Western Byakko. Move to east and you meet a bunch of Kirin warriors. Their boss can take lots of beating and hits hard but they shouldn't be a problem for you. After killing them continue east until you meet Byakko disciples and Lu Yan. Their leader introduces himself as Soh Yu. Talk to them continuously until Lu Yan leaves to his tent and after that talk to Soh Yu and get Byakko 6 dan-1st and Byakko kenpu 6. After he goes away run to east corner of the camp to rest for a while. After lots of talking with Lu Yan talk to Soh Yu again and then we can leave to east to path that curves towards north. Don't start climbing the mountain yet. Crush the monkey boulder, it contains some kenpu and get the chest with vita drop next to it and then start climbing the mountain up, Grab the chest on they way with body essence. In the next zone continue climbing until you get to the wall. Talk to the 2 guards on the way and continue to the east. Soon you get to massive gate. Sell your crap here and talk to the gate guards and the gate will open and in we go. Hakuzen is a town again where you can sell your crap and buy something if needed. Also take a rest in the inn which is located on the west side of the place. There isn't anything interesting here so continue northwest until you get to another zone. Here head northeast and then north when the path splits. Climb all the way to up and when you get there head west and get the boxes there. There is a soul talisman and recovery drop here. Take them. Head back to big stairs in east and talk to the guards. Soh Yu arrives and lets you in. Once in head east and get the chests with snake bone necklace and Byakko 6 dan-2nd scroll. Equip the necklace and head to west. Continue the path until you get to a short cut scene. Byakko sure is impressive. After it head east to the door. Soh Yu opens it again for you. Talk to the clan lord, Jok Xiu. Decipher the Byakko chi arts if you can but if you cannot just head out. I think it's level based but they aren't needed anyways just yet. Clan lord told you to go to Suzaku so that's where we are going next. Head out of Hakuzen and to the gate where I told would be way to Suzaku. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [1.3] - Message to Suzaku Head through the gate and start running to east. Watch out for the purple spots because they poison you. There are lots of opponents around here so be careful. Break the monkey boulder with kenpu inside on they way. Get the chest with mind essence also on the way. You meet soon your first Seima guardian. They are pain in the ass some times. Chi arts and lots of beating is the cure for them. Also note what colour their head is as it indicates what's best damage type against it. Climb the hill and take chest with Kirin 4-dan scroll. Here's also a closed area into which you cannot get just yet. Run east and you can get only into Koukin cave so head in. Watch out for yellowish gas as it paralyzes. Inside you see Sui Lin so follow her. Good time to heal and save also. She attacks you so defeat her like any other humanoid boss. She is fairly weak and goes down fast but she'll throw a bomb inside a sulfur cave, a bad idea. You get nuked. You are dead. No not really, you wake up outside the cave with a red man next to you. He's Lei Gai. You and he decide to go to Jurakunan. Climb the hill and continue to east until you get to a chest with recovery drop. Notice how there are two ledges in the map. Drop down to the one in right and take the chest with miracle nectar. There's an another chest at the bottom too with Righteous 6 dan-1st scroll. After grabbing them head east and you and Lei Gai with part ways. He gives you Suzaku kenpu 7 and Suzaku 5 dan-1st scroll. The way to north goes to harbor but just continue to east towards Jurakunan. The path splits in the large opening. To east is Jurakunan so let's continue there. Inside Jurakunan head immediately to right. In there is a man behind barrels. Bash them and talk to him. He gives you second free-style scroll. Go to inn in the building next to him and rest. Head north and temper your Ginmei Sword if you are able to. I was when I sold some more crap. Continue towards north to Suzaku temple. Run to north past the large flame and talk to the guards. You meet a Suzaku disciple, Yui Min, who isn't very interested to let you inside. She'll tell you that Sui Lin has gone in so you rush past the guards. Inside go right and take the soul talisman from the chest and then go north. Notice the Chi arts tablet on the right, you probably cannot get it yet though. Continue north to Clan lord's quarters. Sui Lin has been beaten by Clan lord, Xiuk Yu. After lots of talk a disciple rushes in telling that there is a fight. Run to the Fire Spring. There you see Yen Lan, a traitor. She has become one of the Kirin's four divine generals and wants the Suzaku sword. Our knight in the samurai pants, yes that's you, decides to cut in and you get to fight Yen Lan. She's a humanoid boss so you know what to do. Beat her with kenpus that knock her down. Although I beat her with Seiryu chi arts 2, Flying dragon, mostly. I attacked her with chi arts then ran away to charge then did it again (she is knocked down every time you use it.) After you have beaten her go back to Xiuk Yu's chamber. She tells you to go to Hokusai and tell Kairoku return to Jurakunan. She also gives you Suzaku 5 dan-2nd scroll. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [1.4] - The Moon sea Run out of Jurakunan and head west to the place where I said the harbor would be. At the Rakuhoku run towards the building north until you reach it and then run to right and get the chest with Seiryu 6 dan-1st scroll and the various crap from the boxes. Sell unnecessary stuff here too. Then run to far northwest end of the pier and talk to the guy there. He will take you on his ship. Off we go. You chill on board for a while when the captain comes to talk to you and four flying fishes attack you. They cause paralyze when they hit you but can't take much beating. Chi arts for the win. My Flying Dragon killed them instantly. Then you spot a massive turtle/snake thing in the water and the captain decides that you are going to take cover at a nearby Gokuho island. You decide to take a tour to the island. Just head east as much as possible killing the skeletons and grabbing all things in the path. In the chest you find vita drop, deluxe chi cake, white snake fang, madoya powder and Kirin 5 dan scroll. After the short cut scene just run back to the ship and talk to the captain. The ship drops you to Hokusai so go to Kairoku's houseboat just south from here. Kairoku isn't there so read the note and head to inn afterwards. You wake up to battle noises and see Uzo and Muzo again fighting with Lei Gai. Talk to everyone upstairs and run downstairs. After short talk the fight starts again. This one is easy with Lei Gai helping you and just use the basic tactic against humanoid bosses. I whacked Uzo down fast and then let Lei Gai fight Muzo while I spammed chi arts in the backrow. After the battle you get Kirin 6 dan-1st scroll. You are asked to pay for the damages to inn and you have to go to talk about it to Eigen at Genbu temple. So run there. Eigen promises to pay for you so are off the hook. You tell Eigen what's been going on in the world and you promise to get Genbu Sword back to him. He gives you Genbu kenpu 13 and Genbu 5 dan-2nd scroll. Then you decide to go to check if Kairoku is back already. Take the brisk jog there and read the sign again. It says that Kairoku has gone to Chikuan in Eastern Seiryu so it's time to go home now. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [1.5] - Back to Chikuan Shinbu decides to visit his master's grave while going back to Seiryu so we are off to Seiruy temple again. Head west out of Hokusai and more west until you come to the rice plantations again. From there head to southeast to the Seiryu temple. At the gates you will meet another banished Seiryu disciple, Densei. After the talk run to the graves. After all talk exit the temple and run west until you come to Chikuan. When you reach the town you probably notice how hard the trash mobs are now. An easy way to gain money that you go in front of the series of lakes by the path leading to the harbor and the western Byakko gate. Then you beat the ox thing and the three purple warriors and get a total tempei amount of 515. Then I save then load then keep doing it like that.If you don't have Seiryu chi arts 3, Soaring Dragon, yet they might be really hard at times. Training chi arts helps a lot. Also when you reach the town try to temper your sword again and rest. After that run to Seidatsu's school at the far west end of the town. Before going inside the Seidatsu's house talk to the old man in the west part of the school. He will give you third free- style scroll. Go inside and chat with Kairoku. Now you need to give the Ginmei Sword back to its rightful owner. Remember the bridge near your parents' grave? This is where we are heading now. Exit Chikuan and run to east until you come to the rice plantations again and then go to northeast and then to east and when you get through Genbu gate head northeast until you get to the bridge. Run to its end and you get long cutscene with some stuff revealed. After talking so much that you are getting a headache and watching lots of cutscenes you need to head back to Chikuan to talk to Kairoku. You should know the way by now. Rest at Chikuan and visit Seidatsu's house. After this we need to get to Suzaku. Go out of Chikuan and take the new path to north. Head to west and after crossing the lake take the path that goes up to hill. There's a chest containing soul talisman at the end of it. Jump down and head west again. There's two Seima guardians at the gate which is closed until you kill them. They are a bitch and can be hard to defeat. After you kill them take the chest in the grass with Genbu 6 dan scroll inside and go through the gate. In Suzaku continue heading to west until you start camping. Afterwards head west again. Don't go to Jurakunan just yet. Continue to another zone in west. Here's two red onis and you notice that the tunnel is open now. Kill them and enter the tunnel. Inside are lots of skeletons and a chest containing Suzaku 6 dan-2nd scroll. After you have got it get out and head east to Jurakunan In Jurakunan take rest, save and head to the temple. The fire is out and you get to meet Genra and his pet turtle. He is Genbu, one of the four gods. Humanoid tactic doesn't work against gods, damn. Here's what you should do: Rush on its side and beat the legs until they disappear. This causes it to fall down and now it's time to beat it's head, front or rear, your choice. I did rear head. Also moves that knock down seem to immobilize it a bit so using them in your combo is wise. Yes, your combo can consist only them if you wish. Legs take around 350 damage each to go down and head takes few thousands. Killed him without losing single hp. Afterwards he drops Genbu kenpus 21, 27 and 28, Holy drop and 1500 taichi. Genra is amazed by your performance and attacks. He's humanoid and basic tactic works like a charm. Around 650-700 damage is enough for him and you get tossed into the Fire Spring! Luckily it's out of order. You have a short discussion with Yen Lan who obviously has some issues. Take recovery drop from the chest and go upstairs. It leads to Xiuk Yu's chamber. After the talk go upstairs and learn the Suzaku chi arts. Then save and talk to Lei Gai. You are going to fight him so use the basic tactic again. Easy battle again. He gives you second kenpu for San'Yuan. Talk to Sui Lin next to Suzaku tablet and head to Clan lord's chamber again. Talk to her and head out. At the entrance go west and talk to Kairoku. Then move more to west and talk to Yui Min. She gives you Suzaku 6 dan-2nd scroll. Talk to basically everyone and return to Clan lord's chamber and talk to her again. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [1.6] - Return to Hakuzen and Gokuho island From Jurakunan you need to get to Byakko territory. You have to walk. Faster way is to go all the way west through Koukin cave and more and more west. Before Koukin cave there's a chest with white snake fang, pick it up. Inside Hakuzen in Byakko head as much as possible to right. Notice the path that curves to down. Go there and talk to the old man at the end. He'll give you Free-style scroll-4. After that head to Byakko clan lord's chamber. When you get to the door talk to the guards first and when the door opens head in. Go upstairs and before talking to the Clan lord take the Byakko Chi arts if you didn't get them last time. Then talk to the Jok Xiu. You get banished by her, great. Head out of the building and Hakuzen after it. You meet Densei at the gate. He tells you to head to sea so that's where we are going. Head west to Hokusai, we need to pick up something while we are heading for harbor. Take the chests at Byakko gate they contain Suzaku charm and chi cake. Behind the gate there's 3 Seima guardians. If you want the chest kill them, which is nice but you can just ignore the chest too. If you beat the three of them another two will appear. So it's five in total, terrible. Inside the chest is Seima crest that give +5 to all three stats but it's not really worth spending all that time and effort to get so I skipped it. At Hokusai take rest and see if you can temper your Ginmei Sword again. Near the temple where the merchant ship dropped you there's a man in a bit east from it. Talk to him. Then rush to west and talk to all old mans on the top pathway. One of them gives you Free-style scroll-5. Now remember the sealed place just west of Hokusai? Go there and pick the chest with Righteous 6 dan-2nd scroll and smash the boulder for kenpu. Go back to Hokusai and take a boat to Gokuho Island. At the island head to east to the tower again. You meet Uzo and Muzo again. Seidatsu and Lei Gai take on them while you run inside to find your father. The tower is full of monsters and chests. The chests contain: Genbu 7 dan scroll, madoya powder, black iron anklet, mind essence, leaf fish dagger and body essence. At the top you find your father. You need to smash the pillars with right kenpus so get beating. In the chest there is Kirin 7 dan-1st scroll. After talking to your dad head out of the tower. Outside you get to battle Uzo and Muzo for the last time and avenge your mother. They should be easy for you now as you should have mastered the humanoid slaying tactic. You get San'Yuan Way kenpu from Seidatsu and New San'Yuan kenpu, which complete the San'Yuan scroll you have. Your mother avenged Seidatsu, Hohaku and Lei Gai praise your skills and tell you that Byakko is going to be attacked soon and tell you to go protect the Byakko sword. Talk to the trio again until they all give you San'Yuan Law, Art and Way 9 dan scrolls. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [1.7] - Defend the White Tiger clan Head back to the boat and take it to Ryosou in Western Byakko. Take the vita drop chest at the harbor and head out. From there head east through the jungle and up the hill to Suzaku gate. The closed area next to it was open for me now and got the Byakko kenpu 27 out of the chest. Then head back to west towards Byakko territory. There head again to east to Hakuzen. Inside get rest at the inn and sell your stuff. Also buy some healing items if you are low, you are going to need a bunch soon. After doing all these head to the Byakko temple again. Talk with everyone on the path and when you get up to the door again head west and break the stuff there and grab one more Soul talisman. If you have talked with everyone from bottom of the hill leading up to the door (don't miss the guy on the far right near the door) the doors should open, if not you have missed someone. Head in and to Clan lord's chamber. Notice the new way there next to the Byakko Chi arts tablet? Go in there. After lots and lots of talking and happening you are moved to outside. Run back to the Toshintetsu room. Save before entering it. You are going to have a battle against Crimson Phoenix, Suzaku. This is where you will need the Higen arts. The tactic against is to dodge it's attacks while it circles around the room. For dives move to sides and for breaths, well try to avoid getting full frontal hit. It doesn't hurt that much anyways. If you have Genbu kenpu 21 or something else that is very maneuvarable make a combo with only it or few of them in it and when it starts the breath attack use it to hop quickly sideways. You should be able to avoid at least some of the damage this way. Also stand in the middle of the area so it's you have more time to avoid it. After a while it stops hovering in one place. Now it's your time to throw your sword at it. When the sword hits use Seiryu Chi arts and it will drop to ground. Now beat it with your combo, which should contain lots of Genbu moves, which are most effective against it. Also use high end kenpus because it cannot knock down so you can spam them continuously. I had 6 slots in my free-style scroll so I made a combo that started and ended with Genbu kenpus. Also if your Genbu Chi arts is well trained use it instead of Seiryu. When it takes it to air again load your Chi arts for next use. After repeating this tactic for several times, it can take around 1000-2000 damage, it dies and you get Soul talisman, Suzaku kenpus 18, 28 and 30 and 2000 taichi. As a sidenote: This is one of the best done flying opponents I've seen in any game. After this Shinbu goes berserk and decides to wipe out the Kirin alone. You should prepare for going there now. You need to talk to both Eigen and Xiuk Yu so lets head to Hokusai first to the west. You can use boats too but walking provides you with needed experience, kenpus and most importantly taichi. When you are back at the Byakko territory run east until you are at the gate again. It's closed but head east to newly opened area. There's a chest with Byakko 7 dan-2nd scroll in it and some other boxes. Here you can get to Toshintetsu room too but head back to west after you get the chest. Talk to the old man at the gates and he tells you that there's a rare item in a closed area between Byakko and Genbu. Continue west until you get to the hill where the closed area is, you remember it from before right? Chests have Heavy curse bomb and Ruthless 6 dan-1st scroll. Not very useful but get them anyways. Then continue to Hokusai. At the lakes there is one chest with frest nectar in it. In Hokusai rest and then temper your sword if it already isn't the one costing 15000 taichi. Then go see Eigen at the Genbu temple. Talk to him and Seidatsu who tells you to go to see Hohaku at his school. Head there. Rest there and sell your stuff. Talk to Hohaku and then go to southeast corner of the school area and talk to the man there. He tells you that the rice fields have been taken care of and the gate there is now open. Head there next. Chests in there contain Soul talisman, Ruthless 7 dan-1st scroll and Byakko 7 dan-1st scroll. Also the boulder contains some nice kenpu. Now it's time to run to the west to Jurakunan. There's a chest on the way to there next to a tree after the ledge. There's a soul talisman inside. Before entering Jurakunan make sure you have 21000 taichi. If you don't whack some monsters to get enough. Buy Solar Protective ward. It's really helpful and sell your Snake bone necklace. Then head to temple. In the arena room talk to Lei Gai and Xiuk Yu. Now you know the location of Central Kirin and you are ready to rock. If you wish you can exp now and refill your healing items. After you have done all get to a harbor and go to Central Kirin. I had ten soul talismans left so I decided to go there immediately. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [1.8] - The fight with Banko At the Kirin island take Seiryu 7 dan scroll from the chest and go to stairs. Take the skill essence from the chest on left and start heading to right towards the gates. Each gate is protected by bunch of monsters and you need to use Higen arts to throw your sword to the seal on the gate and then use the Chi art on which that particular Clan is weak for. On the way through all gates you get Suzaku 7 dan scroll, Kirin 7 dan-2nd scroll, Byakko 7 dan-3rd scroll, holy drop and Genbu 8 dan scroll. You cannot get the last gate open yourself because you don't know Kirin Chi arts. Run to the door and it will be "opened" for you. After chatting save and heal yourself. Take holy drop and soul talisman from the chests and step forward. You are going to meet Byakko, the white tiger. Tactic for him is to use Suzaku aligned combo as he's weak for it. He rushes around madly so just side step to avoid his rushes. After some rushes it stops, now it's time to do all out attack on him. I suggest moves that are maneuverable so you can jump around him and avoid his claw attack for few seconds. He can be a bit hard and remember to use disease removal when you get diseased. After killing him you get Byakko kenpus 16, 25, 26 and 30, 3000 taichi, talisman and holy drop. Genra gets pissed off for you and attacks, defeat him with usual humanoid slaying technique. He can only take very little beating and goes down fast. After beating both of them grab the chest at the entrance containing miracle nectar and head north. Save also. Next you meet Densei and Seiryu, an azure dragon. He's pretty nasty bugger too. Arm yourself with anti-Seiryu kenpus, meaning metal or Byakko kenpus. The dragon itself is not very bad but it casts lightning to Densei's sword and he scorches you with it then, making massive damage. There's a trick to avoid it though but it requires taking damage too. When he's about to fire it Seiryu makes a tail sweep with his tail. This knocks you down making the beam mostly miss you and take less damage but it may backlash too so that you take both of them. Some maneuvarable kenpu is also good to avoid it but I didn't bother. While he gives the lightning to Densei you cannot damage it some times so take this time to load your own Chi arts. Also fighting at the sides of the area helps you to avoid it and you can whack Seiryu against the wall. When it goes down get Seiryu kenpus 28 and 29, 5000 taichi, soul talisman, miracle nectar and super chi cake. After this Densei attacks. Kill him again with the well-trained combos. He only took 4 full combos from my 8 slot free-style scrolls so he has only around 1000-1200 hps. After talking with Sui Lin take the Kirin Chi arts from the throne. Now only think between you and ending is Banko. Save here and you can go back and exp and get more items if you need them or you can go just forward and whack the Banko to pieces. Banko can be difficult to defeat but not that bad after you learn how he acts. You need to stick one of the Clan swords to the circle that is lit by pressing X or O near it. Note that the lit seal is pillar of white light, not purple dome on a seal. When the sword is stuck there you may attack Banko with the kenpus of that clan. After a while Banko drains chi from the seals and the seal changes and you need to stick one of the swords again. After you have dealt 1000 damage with one type that type's sword is permanently stuck on the ground. After all swords are in you can use any type to defeat him, not just San'Yuan as the game suggested earlier. In the stage when you can use all kenpus he should die after several thousands of damage, which you get really fast because your combo should be doing at least 300 damage per use, 500 and more if you have already 10 slots in your free-style scroll and have gathered experience before coming here. It's good idea to take distance from him when you are not attacking as it makes dodging his attacks very easy. I used only one free-style scroll to which I always changed the kenpus, might be a bit slow but I liked it. You could use multiple free-style scrolls to make combos or use the predefined clan scrolls. Maneuverable kenpus are again good idea as with all the gods. Also I pressed upwards right all the time when attacking him so that I basically hit his leg constantly. This causes him and you to rotate around and his hits to miss you mostly. Skill essences also make this battle a lot faster. If you have trouble with him and looks like your healing items are running out run to other side of the place and heal yourself with Solar Protective charm. This battle can last really long and you will need lots and lots of healing items and soul talismans to survive. Congratulations you have now finished the game! Grab the items Banko drops, kenpus, taichi, few scrolls etc.. Now it's time to listen you and your father play a duet with twin moon swords, impressive I'd say. Also watch the ending through fully and save after it, possibly to another slot. When you load this save you can start the game from the beginning with all kenpus, scrolls, items, etc. intact! It's supposed to be slightly harder this time also and you get the Pure San'Yuan scroll also. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2.0] - Secrets There are two things you can get after beating Banko. First is to get to start the game with all kenpu, items and equipment intact. Simply wait till the ending cut-scenes are over and the credits and you are given a possibility to save if you wish. When you load this saved game you will start the game from the beginning with above changes. Second thing you achieve from beating Banko is Pure San'yuan Bugei scroll. This is supposed to be the ultimate combo, although I prefer my own free-styles. Once you start the game from the beginning with the saved game that you saved after the credits you will have it from the start of the game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [2.1] - Free-style scroll locations Free-style scroll 1st Getting this scroll is is part of story of the game. Once you get to Northern Genbu and to Hokusai you will eventually get to talk to red clothed man called Kairoku. He will give you the scroll. You can now get the rest of the scrolls but you need to get them in right order so you cannot just skip and get the fifth. Free-style scroll 2nd After receiving the first scroll it's possible to get rest of the scroll. Inside Jurakunan, in Suzaku, head immediately to right from the entrance. In there is a man behind barrels, some of them explosive. Bash them and talk to him. He gives you second free-style scroll. Free-style scroll 3rd When you need to go to meet Kairoku in Chikuan you may get this scroll. Before going inside the Seidatsu's house talk to the old man in the west part of the school. He will give you third free-style scroll. Free-style scroll 4th Inside Hakuzen in Byakko head as much as possible to right to elderly quarters. There's a path that curves to down. Go there and talk to the old man at the end. He'll give you Free-style scroll-4. Free-style scroll 5th At Hokusai, to the west from the Genbu temple there are several old men in the upper path. Talk to all of them and try to find the correct looking one. He will give you the last Free-style scroll. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [2.2] – Helpful Hints - Even though annoying always read what people talking say. It helps you ALOT!!! - Always look for opportunities to temper your sword - An easy way to gain money that you go in front of the series of lakes by the path leading to the harbor and the western Byakko gate on the Genbu-Sieryu Highway. Then you beat the ox thing and the three purple warriors and get a total taichi amount of 515. Using chi arts 3. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [3.0] - Thanks to I'd like to thank following people and companies: rikuvill@mail.student.oulu.fi He helped me through when I was about to either literally burn the PSP or the game when I couldn’t figure anything out for about a week straight
