Metal Slug XX : Prisoner of War Guide Introduction ------------------------------------[XX00] Mission 1 ---------------------------------------[AA11] Mission 2 ---------------------------------------[BB22] Mission 3 ---------------------------------------[CC33] Mission 4 ---------------------------------------[DD44] Mission 5 ---------------------------------------[EE55] Mission 6 ---------------------------------------[FF66] Mission 7 ---------------------------------------[GG77] History -----------------------------------------[HH88] -------------------------------------------------------------- [XX00] - Introduction -------------------------------------------------------------- As of 2010, Metal Slug XX is the newest Metal Slug game to be released in North America. It is a remake of Metal Slug 7, a DS game. So far, this game has only been released on the PSP, and is only available as a UMD. One of the objectives in Metal Slug games is to rescue the Prisoners of War (POWs) in each. For every POW you rescue on Metal Slug XX, you will receive 10,000 points when you complete your mission. If you rescue at least ten POWs, you will receive a bonus of 100,000 points. However, if you lose a life, none of the previous POWs rescued in the mission will be counted toward your score. Additionally, each POW will give you a gift when you rescue them. Gifts vary from items that you earn points for collecting, bombs, ammo, and special weapons. A character named Hyakutaro appears in missions 4 and 7. Instead of giving you a gift from his boxers, he will follow you and project fireballs from his hands that can damage enemies. Rumi Akinawa will be seen on missions 4 and 6. She carries a backpack with three fish in it, each worth 1000 points. To rescue her, you must get near her before she falls down on her own. Missions 1 through 6 have 14 POWs each, as long as you take the appropriate route. The final mission has 16 POWs. A total of 100 POWs can be rescued in a single playthrough. Because of the branching paths added to Metal Slug XX, there are over 100 locations where you can find a POW. This following FAQ will list all of the possible POWs that you can save in Metal Slug XX, as well as identify which routes allow you to rescue all 100. Check the list of POWs provided on the main menu. Once each mission has 100% written next to it, you have saved each of the 100 POWs at least once. I will assume in this FAQ that you are not playing on Easy Mode; anyone that plays a Metal Slug game should eventually play on the higher difficulties. If you play Metal Slug XX on Easy Mode, your player will use a Heavy Machine Gun as a default weapon. All instances of the Heavy Machine Gun, including the Big Heavy Machine Gun, are replaced with crates of extra Slug cannons or Bombs. If you want to use the Big Heavy Machine Gun on Easy, use Fio Germi. -------------------------------------------------------------- [AA11] - Mission 1 - Garbage Island -------------------------------------------------------------- In the first mission, there are two routes you can take. If you continue to the right after the second area, you take the path to Area 3.1. If you fall down at the last section of that area, you take the path to Area 3.2. -------------- Area 1: 3 POWs -------------- 1. SSG. Aglauros: As you start the mission, go to the left and shoot up.
