I can't say that I'd ever played this game before, but I'm glad I did. It's a very enjoyable racer that I'm sad that I missed when I had my Master System in the early 90s. I tried it out recently in the hope of helping out the SMS Completion Project. More info on that and what we're trying to achieve can be found here: http://www.selmiak.bplaced.net/sms/ To view any more of my work, go here: http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/recognition/76852.html Well, let's go! -TrulyDexterous _____________ _____________ \ /| |\ / ) |¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯| ( / | 4) G a m e B a s i c s | \ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯|_____________________________________________________|¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ C o n t r o l s ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ 1.......Accelerate 2............Brake Left.....Turn Left Right...Turn Right Down.......Wheelie B a s i c G a m e p l a y ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ • The aim of this game is to complete each of the ten stages before the time limit runs out. • It's obviously not just as easy as driving in a straight line. There are obstacles that will block your path. The games main obstacle is the ramp. Jumping over these bad boys will severely slow you down, so you should try and drive around them if possible. • If it isn't possible to drive around a ramp, there is something else that you can do. As you hit the ramp, press down on the D-Pad to perform a wheelie. If you time this correctly you will get a speed boost. This can be hard to perfect, so get practicing! You need to approach at a decent speed to get best results. This can see your time crash through the floor, so if you want to master this game, THIS IS IMPORTANT! • You will begin the first stage with a 60 second time limit. Every second that you are under the limit will be added to your time for the next stage. You will be given an additional 60 seconds for each of the first five stages that you begin. So if you finished Stage 1 in 55 seconds, you will begin Stage 2 with 65. • There are other racers also on the track, that you should avoid crashing into. These can take the form of a car (slower but usually fewer or them) or other bikers (more of them, but faster). • For every other racer that you overtake during your trial, you will receive a point. These points will acculmilate and you can upgrade your bike by purchasing improved parts for it. • You should stay on the main track to maintain maximum speed. Head onto long grass or deep sand will slow you down considerably. • If you run out of time you will get the GAME OVER screen. • Although you want to go as fast as you can, you should also take into account the damage that your bike is taking. This can be seen in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. Try to preserve your bikes health otherwise something bad will happen... • If your damage reaches 99 your time will count down twice as fast, making it a lot more likely that you will fail the stage. • Crashing into rocks, potholes and other small obstacles will increase your damage by 4. A total wipeout will cost 10 damage. T u n e U p ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ After every stage you will be given the chance to upgrade some parts of your bike. You can purchase parts using points. A point is earned for every other racer that you overtake. On this screen you can see both your total points and your total damage. ACCELERATOR: This will govern how fast your bike accelerates. This is useful on stages where there are a lot of jumps. COST: 5 HANDLE : This improves your bikes handling, making it quicker to move left and right. Good for stages will lots of obstacles. COST: 5 TIRE : Upgrading your tyres means you won't slow down as much when you drive off of the main track. COST: 5 ENGINE : The best upgrade. This increases to top speed of your bike, allowing you to go much faster and attain better times. COST: 10 SUSPENSION : If you have the up-rated suspension, you will hardly be slowed down at all when jumping over ramps. This means that you won't have to drive around them, thus saving time. I would place this as the second best upgrade. COST: 10 ITEM : Kind of generic sounding, but purchase this to reduce your damage. You should look closely at buying this if you damage is approaching 99. The item you get will reduce your damage by a random amount. Sometimes it can be 10, other times it may be 30. COST: 10 The cost of the parts will change after you have finished Stage 6. In addition, any upgrades that you purchased before the start of Stage 5 will be removed from your bike. Basically this means you need to re-buy your parts at twice the cost! IMPORTANT: Upgrades only last for one stage (the Stage that you purchase the part before). After this, you will need to buy the upgrade again to make use of it. IMPORTANT: If you buy an upgrade and then wipeout on the stage. You will lose that upgrade! That's why it is imperative you stay on the bike! _____________ _____________ \ /| |\ / ) |¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯| ( / | 5) S t a g e s | \ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯|_____________________________________________________|¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ S t a g e 1 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ This is the most basic course that you will race on. Set off and you will come to a ramp. You can easily drive around the ramp and the rocks to save some time. There are numerous other example of this along this stage. You will next come to a fork in the track. Take the lower route but drive right next to the grass on the left hand side (but still stay on the track). If you get this line correct, you can avoid the rocks and ramps along here. This also comes up a lot, so try and perfect this. The cars can be a pain as they take up a lot of track space. Try to give them a wide berth as you overtake them and attempt to predict their movements so you don't get wiped out. A good run will see you finish the stage in around 52-55 seconds having overtaken 6-7 racers. S t a g e 2 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Before the start of this stage you will have the chance to tune your bike. Presumably, you have either 6 or 7 points. You really need to buy the Engine Upgrade as soon as possible, so don't waste your points on anything else. Wait until after Stage 2 to buy the Engine. Begin the stage and you will approach a ramp. You will be able to drive around it on the right hand side. Watch out for the rocks though. This set-up is a main feature of this stage, so try to exploit it. After this, there are two more similar ramps that you can do the same with. Soon after you will come to some ruins. This will place some marble bricks in your way. Navigate around them (it's easier if you go over the ramp beforehand). Try to avoid the green tufts of grass and make the wheelies over any ramps that you need to go over (this will give you the speed boost). A good run on Stage 2 will be 52-55 seconds after overtaking between 7 and 9 racers. S t a g e 3 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ After Stage 2 you can expect to have 13-16 points to spend. As long as you have 10 you can afford the engine tune-up. This is pretty much essential for the next stage. Don't buy anything else, it will just be a waste. Stage 3 is a piece of cake with the Engine Upgrade. Stay to the right hand side of the screen. You should get up to top speed. As you approach any ramps, drive around them on the right hand side. This will take you onto rough terrain and slow you down slightly. Don't worry, just quickly turn back onto the main track. Using this method you may take a little damage. Try to avoid the little green plants to remedy this. Hopefully you can miss as many ramps as possible. A good run will be around 42-50 seconds here, with 5-7 cars overtaken. If you are particularly talented at getting the speed boosts from the ramps, you can hit each ramp at full speed and just gain massive air from it. This will put you sub-40 seconds and see you overtake at least 8 cars. S t a g e 4 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Hopefully you will have performed well enough to afford another Engine Upgrade here. This will be extremely useful on the upcoming stage. With both the Engine Upgrade installed, this Stage 4 will be a walk in the park. Get up to top speed and just ride straight over the ramps. Make sure you are hitting the speed boosts and you will hardly lose any speed at all. Watch out for missing the ramps and falling into the water though. More specifically, the ramps that are on islands over to the left hand side of the track. As long as you touch the island, you will get the jump. This can be totally avoided by performing a massive jump. A good time here will see 44-50 seconds with 7-9 racers overtaken. A great time will put you below 40 seconds. S t a g e 5 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ If you take my advice, buy nothing and save your points for Stage 6. If you are low on health, don't hesistate to get an Item, but otherwise you should wait. If you were hitting good times on the previous stages, there's every chance that you will start Stage 5 with 99 seconds on the clock. This means that you have plenty of time to reach your goal. Try to take it easy if you have time, so that you don't take too much damage. There are a lot of rocks and potholes on Stage 5, but these can be easily avoided if you just drive over the ramps. This will slow your progress, but it will save your bikes health. Watch out for other racers and give them a wide berth. They will often be zig-zagging along the track, so watch out for them. 45-50 seconds should be the target again with 6-8 racers being overtaken. S t a g e 6 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Before the start of Stage 7, all the prices of the parts will be doubled. Buying an Item here is adviseable. It will be your last chance for a cheap repair and will save you doing it later. You should be on for a decent score here even without an upgrade. At the start, you will notice that this is the same stage as Stage 1. That's right, the second round of stages are repeats. On this occasion though, you are racing bikes. These guys will zig-zag around, so watch out for collisions. You should power through the field in a 40-45 second time. You should aim for 14-20 overtakes. S t a g e 7 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ After what should have been a great Stage 6 performace, hopefully you will have the required 20 points for the Engine upgrade. This is pretty much essential so BUY IT NOW. If you have the suspension, then simply drive over all the ramps at full speed. If you don't have it, you will have to drive around them. A good time is 45-50 with 14-20 overtakes. A great time will see you below 40 seconds. S t a g e 8 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ The Engine Upgrade should be bought here if you can afford it. If not then buy the Tyres. Remember what you did last time? Simply drive on the right hand side of the screen and steer around any ramps that you can avoid. This will take you off- road briefly, but shouldn't cost you too much time, especially if you have the Tyre Upgrade. Watch out for those pesky green plants though. If you have the Engine Upgrade, hit the speed boosts from the ramps. You can hit each ramp at full speed and just gain massive air from it. This will put you sub-40 seconds and see you overtake 14-20 racers. S t a g e 9 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Most probably you don't have the required 20 points here, but a Tyre Upgrade will help you. There are areas that you can't help but drive off of the main track, but the improved tyres will ensure you aren't slowed down as much. 45-50 seconds should be the target without an Engine Upgrade. 14-20 racers can be expected to be overtaken. S t a g e 1 0 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ If you are low on health here, purchase an Item. If you think that you are okay, then a Suspension Upgrade is advised. DO NOT buy an Engine Upgrade, it will make the bike very hard to control. If you still have some spare points, Handling may help too. Try to take it easy, as you should have plenty of spare time. Just avoiding taking a lot of damage and don't collide with the other racers. Once you reach the finish, you will have completed all 10 stages! See if you can beat your best combined time! _____________ _____________ \ /| |\ / ) |¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯| ( / | 6) C r e d i t s | \ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯|______________________________________________________|¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ T h a n k Y o u s ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ • GameFAQs for hosting this. • People of the FCB for everything FAQ-related. • You, for reading my FAQ! • The SMS Completion Project without which, this FAQ wouldn't exist. ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ This is the end.
