If you did not know, then those guides were of multiplayer strategies, of multiplayer game types, of weapons, and there was also an encyclopedic collection of multipayer terms and items you would encounter while you played Delta Force: Black Hawk Down online. All I have done is compiled these guides into one large guide. The old guides were unfavorable, in appearance, in helpfulness, and in purpose. I feel they should be redone and I have done so. This is the product of such an action, and I have added far more information to everything than what was offered before. Along with rewriting and adding information to certain parts and sections, I have also added more things as was necessary due to the release of the expansion pack for Delta Force: Black Hawk Down, Team Sabre. The following sections of the guide that pertain to the game are as in-depth and informative as I could possibly make them. Mind you, one may get lost when reading the following, what with my common use of commas and prepositional phrases. I apologize for this, but if you really want to read this, then it is up to you to understand it. The order in which the sections appear is the order in which I think best for the player and reader to read. One must start with the basics before one advances, and because of such, the very basic appears first, and ultimately ends with knowledge and information common to the veteran level of players. However, the best method for a player to learn the game is to actually play it. Therefore, I recommend the game as a better informational source than this. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Section II. Team Sabre Additions TSA _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- For those of you who do not know, Team Sabre is the official expansion pack for Delta Force: Black Hawk Down. It was the first expansion pack the Delta Force series experienced. At first, the Team Sabre expansion pack was supposed to offer something that would be an improvemenet upon the recent addition to the series, the vehicles. The something was the ability to drive the vehicles. That is, have full control of all of the vehicles, and the weapons they provided. Of course, Novalogic bit off more than it could chew, and had to scrap this from the Team Sabre expansion pack, preserving it for their "side series" Joint Operations, which more than anything replaced the Delta Force series. Despite this flaw in Novalogic's development of Team Sabre, Team Sabre still provided a stash of goodies for the customers who bought it. First, two full single player campaigns were added, a series of six Iran-set levels, and a series of five Colombia-set levels. Second, three new weapons were introduced to gameplay, the G3 assault rifle, the G36 assault rifle, and PSG1 sniper rifle. Third, a set of character skins depicting special forces units in desert camouflage fatigues were made available, providing an alternative skin for each character class. Fourth and lastly, though rather obvious and insignificant, a set of new servers containing new levels and terrains were added to the available multiplayer servers, allowing the player to choose to display the Team Sabre side of servers, the Black Hawk Down side of servers, or both sides of the servers simultaneously. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Section III. Character Classes CCL _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- As with most online first-person shooters, there are multiple character classes the player can be, each with its own specialties or weapons or other qualities. In Delta Force: Black Hawk Down, there are four character classes, and each class differs from the others on two planes. The first plane in which the character classes differ is speed. The second plane is weapons. Before I go in-depth with the character classes, the classes the player can be in Delta Force: Black Hawk Down are Close Quarters Battle (always abbreviated as CQB), Gunner, Medic, and Sniper. Each class has certain attributes which define the role the player is commonly to take. While this role can be ignored, and is often usually so, it is much respected and wise that you fulfill this role as best as possible. However, most players have learned to not depend on others to fulfill such roles, so the choice is up to you. If you wish to do as you choose, as in not revive a player if you are a Medic, then, aside from possible insults towards you, the team does not mind much. The Close Quarters Battle class is the average class, with favorable qualities and abilities that other classes lack. For this, it is often recommended to new players. The Close Quarters Battle has the second-fastest speed, unless the player is carrying an object such as a flag, in which case the Close Quarters Battle class is the fastest character class. In the way of weaponry, the Close Quarters Battle class has access to most assault rifles. The arsenal includes the CAR-15, CAR-15/M203, G3, G36, M16, M16/M203, and the MP5. The last of which is unique to this character class. Secondary weapons include the Remington shotgun, the Colt .45, and the M9 Beretta. The Close Quarters Battle class has full access to the three types of grenades, Flash, Frag, and Smoke, and is the only class with access to the Satchel Charges. Along with all of these attributes, the Close Quarter Battle class also has the largest knifing radius, and is thus used most often when a knife fight ensues. The Gunner class is the strength class, with more focus on brute force rather than speed. Because of such, the Gunner class is the slowest class altogether. Without carrying an object such as a flag, the Gunner player runs about as fast as a Humvee. If the player is carrying an object, then she or he runs slower than a Humvee. To contrast such a poor attribute, the Gunner class has the most powerful arsenal of weapons at its disposal. The weapons include the CAR-15, CAR-15/M203, G3, G36, M16, M16/M203, M240, M60, and the SAW. The last three of which are unique to this character class. The secondary weapons available to the Gunner class are the Remington shotgun, the Col .45, and the M9 Beretta. The Gunner class, like the Close Quarters Battle class, has access to all three grenade types, and also has a unique auxiliary weapon: the AT4 projectile weapon. It is because of this weapon that it is often seen upon the Gunner class to rid a Black Hawk or Humvee of an enemy character. The Medic class is the quick class, with a greater focus on speed rather than strength. The Medic is the fastest class when not carrying an object such as a flag. Though, the Medic drops to second or maybe third when the player carries an object. The weapon availability of the Medic is severely limited. The Medic class has access to three assault rifles, the CAR-15, the G36, and the M16. Secondary weapons include the two pistols, the Colt .45 and the M9 Beretta. The Medic class has access to no auxiliary weapons. To compensate for such an unfavorable and discouraging attribute as the lack of weapons for the Medic, the Medic class has exclusive access to the Medpack, and thus the exclusive ability to heal and revive wounded and fallen teammates. The Sniper class is the outcast class, with an odd balance of speed and weapons. The Sniper is third in the speed department if the player is not carrying an object such as a flag. When carrying a flag, the Sniper player does not seem to be hindered, or not as hindered as obviously as the Medic class. It is because of such an odd quality that the Sniper class seems to be in second or remain in third when carrying an object. The Sniper class, as the name implies, uses sniper rifles. Such rifles include the Barrett, the MCRT Tactical, the M21, the M24, and the PSG1. The secondary weapons of the Sniper class consist of the two pistols, the Colt .45 and the M9 Beretta. As an auxiliary weapon, the Sniper has access to the Claymore. Weapons WPN _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- As the reader can see from above, there are a variety of weapons present in Delta Force: Black Hawk Down, each available to certain character classes, and each with its unique features and characteristics. =-=-=-=- Barrett M82A1 .50 Cal Muzzle Velocity: 853 meters per second Rate of Fire: 1 round per second Ammo Type: .50 BMG round Rounds Per Clip: 10 Rounds Carried: 100 The Barret is not often seen used. There are sniper rifles with better scopes, better rate fo fire, and the like. The Barret is a nice medium of these, but players will most likely equip a rifle better in one of the categories and more suited to the purpose. A major drawback of the Barret is it is one of the loudest of the weapons, and to a sniper that is trying to be stealthy, this is not very favorable. =-=-=-=- CAR-15 Colt 5.56mm AR Muzzle Velocity: 990 meters per second Rate of Fire: 11.6 rounds per second Ammo Type: 5.56mm round Rounds Per Clip: 30 Rounds Carried: 300 The CAR-15 is an automatic rifle, and is one of the most common weapons used in Novaworld games. Close Quarters Battle and Gunner players who choose to use the CAR-15 usually use the M203 variant, but for Medic players, this is perhaps the most commonly used of the three rifles. =-=-=-=- CAR-15 Colt 5.56mm AR/M203 Grenade Launcher Muzzle Velocity: 990 meters per second Rate of Fire: 11.6 rounds per secon Ammo Type: 5.56mm round Rounds Per Clip: 30 Rounds Carried: 300 Grenade Velocity: Low Grenade Rate of Fire: about 0.2 grenades per second Grenade Type: 40mm Grenades Carried: 6 This variant of the CAR-15 comes with a little pal, the M203. The M203 is a breach-loading grenade launcher and adds a third firing function to the CAR-15. Close Quarters Battle and Gunner players who wish to use the CAR-15 more often than not choose to use this instead of the normal CAR-15. =-=-=-=- G3A3 Muzzle Velocity: 800 meters per second Rate of Fire: 9.1 rounds per second Ammo Type: 7.62 x 51mm NATO (.308 Win) round Rounds Per Clip: 20 Rounds Carried: 300 This is one of the three weapons added to the Black Hawk Down game from the Team Sabre expansion pack. The G3 is often used by CLose Quarters Battle players, and is oen of the most powerful and easy-to-handle weapons a player can wield. There are wide accusations that the weapon has an unfair advantage, that it is easier to kill an enemy with this than with other weapons. All I can offer, through the speculations of fellow players, is that because the bullet is larger in caliber than others, aiming does not have to be as exact as say with a 9mm sidearm. =-=-=-=- G36E Muzzle Velocity: 920 meters per second Rate of Fire: 12.5 rounds per second Ammo Type: 5.56 x 45mm round Rounds Per Clip: 30 Rounds Carried: 300 This is another weapon that the Team Sabre expansion pack added to the Black Hawk Down game. The G36 is the second automatic rifle in the game, and has a very high rate of fire. Becaus of this, player stend to run out of ammo with it often. The G36 is usually avoided by Close Quarters Battle and Gunner players, but it is not uncommon to see Medics running around with this clip-emptier. =-=-=-=- M16A2 Colt 5.56mm AR Muzzle Velocity: 990 meters per second Rate of Fire: 11.6 rounds per second Ammo Type: 5.56mm round Rounds Per Clip: 30 Rounds Carried: 300 The M16 used to be the only other weapon the Medic had choice to if she or he did not want to use the CAR-15. The M16 appealed to the other type of player, the player that uses Burst rather than Auto. As with the CAR-15, Close Quarters Battle and Gunner players usually choose the M203 variant. Rather than using a laser-scope like the CAR-15, the M16 uses iron sights. =-=-=-=- M16A2 Colt 5.56mm AR/M203 Grenade Launcher Muzzle Velocity: 990 meters per second Rate of Fire: 11.6 rounds per second Ammo Type: 5.56mm round Rounds Per Clip: 30 Rounds Carried: 300 Grenade Velocity: Low Grenade Rate of Fire: about 0.2 grenades per second Grenade Type: 40mm Grenades Carried: 6 This variant of the M16, like the variant of the CAR-15, comes equipped with the M203 grenade launcher. This weapon is mostly used by Close Quarters Battle and Gunner players who do not want to use its mediocre little brother. =-=-=-=- M21 7.62mm Muzzle Velocity: 777 meters per secon Rate of Fire: 2 rounds per second Ammo Type: 7.62 x 51mm round Rounds Per Clip: 20 Rounds Carried: 200 The M21 is one of the two most common type sof sniper rifles seen used in online gameplay. Both of these rifles, the M21 and the PSG, are equal in features, except the M21 is somewhat more silent, and is of an older model. The M21 has the weakest scope, but the scope power is still decent, and the semi-automatic capability of this rifle more than compensates for its lack in this area. =-=-=-=- M24 SWS 7.62mm Muzzle Velocity: 792 meters per second Rate of Fire: .6 rounds per second Ammo Type: 7.62 x 51mm round Rounds Per Clip: 6 Rounds Carried: 180 This is a medium-level sniper rifle, and is second-best in scope power. The M24 is one of two bolt-action sniper rifles, the other being the Tactical. This rifle has a nice balance of attributes if the player is looking for a rifle with better scope power than the M21 and PSG, and is able to hit her or his targets with one or two shots. This is not a rifle for Snipers who use the semi-automatic capability of the M21 and PSG often. =-=-=-=- M240B Muzzle Velocity: 853 meters per second Rate of Fire: 12.5 rounds per second Ammo Type: 7.62mm round Rounds Per Clip: 200 Rounds Carried: 600 The M240 is one of the three Squad Automatic Weapons that the Gunner character class has access to. Of the three weapons that comprise this weapon type, the M240 relies more on power than accuracy. This means the recoil is slightly more than the other two weapons, and the accuracy is rather poor. =-=-=-=- M249 SAW 5.56mm MG Muzzle Velocity: 990 meters per second Rate of Fire: 10 rounds per second Ammo Type: 5.56mm round Rounds Per Clip: 200 Rounds Carried: 600 The M249, most commonly called the SAW, is the accuracy weapon of the three machine guns. That accuracy comes at a price, though, which is power. More bullets are usually required to kill a target than if the player were to use on of the other two machine guns. Because of this, the SAW is not very famous online, and is rarely ever recommended. =-=-=-=- M60E3 7.62 GPMG Muzzle Velocity: 915 meters per second Rate of Fire: 8.33 rounds per second Ammo Type: 7.62mm round Rounds Per Clip: 200 Rounds Carried: 600 The M60 is the last of the three Squad Automatic Weapons that the Gunner character class has access to. The M60 is a blend of the other two machine guns, having more accuracy than the M240, and more power than the SAW. Because of this somewhat balance of attributes, the M60 is the most common machine gun used in online gameplay. It is the recommended weapon for new players who wish to try the Gunner character class. =-=-=-=- MCRT .300 Tactical Muzzle Velocity: 911 meters per second Rate of Fire: 0.6 rounds per second Ammo Type: .300 magnum round Rounds Per Clip: 4 Rounds Carried: 180 The MCRT, more commonly called the Tactical, is the sniper rifle with the most powerful scope power. For this reason, it is not uncommon to see Snipers who are hunting from a distance of close to a thousand meters using this rifle. On the contrary, because its scope power is so great, and because the rifle is a bolt-action rifle, it is very uncommon and rather foolish to use the Tactical in close quarters, urban-set levels. =-=-=-=- MP5A3 H&K 9mm SMG Muzzle Velocity: 285 meters per second Rate of Fire: 13 rounds per second Ammo Type: 9mm round Rounds Per Clip: 30 Rounds Carried: 300 The MP5 is one of those used-by-a-select-few-who-are-masters-with-it weapons. It is uncommon to see players using it unless they are actually good and skilled with it. Most players stray from it, and choose the G3 over it to accomplish the same mission, but the MP5 does have its benefits. The MP5 is relatively silent, so enemies who are somewhat close to each other in distance can be taken out without the knowledge of the others. The MP5 does not affect the spin-map. Usually when a weapon is fired, the spin-map, found in the lower-right corner of the heads up display, flashes in the direction the fire comes from. When the MP5 is fired, this does not happen. Lastly, the MP5 allows the player to acquire head shots with very simple ease. Shots from the MP5 usually take two to three direct shots to the body to kill an enemy, but only on shot from the MP5 is sufficient enough to kill the enemy by means of cranial entry. =-=-=-=- PSG1 Sniper Rifle Muzzle Velocity: 788 meters per second Rate of Fire: 0.5 rounds per second Ammo Type: 7.62 x 51mm round Rounds Per Clip: 20 Rounds Carried: 150 The PSG is the last of three weapons the Team Sabre expansion pack added to the Black Hawk Down game. It is an alternative to the M21, and has almost identical features to it. The PSG and the M21 have the same scope power, semi-automatic firing function, caliber bullet, and rounds per clip. The only defining differences are the rates of fire, loudness of firing, and the distances per second. The first of which the PSG is slower, the second of which the PSG is louder, and the last of which the rounds fired from a PSG travel eleven more meters per second than their M21 counterparts. =-=-=-=- Colt M1911A1 .45 Muzzle Velocity: 253 meters per second Rate of Fire: 4 rounds per second Ammo Type: .45 automatic round Rounds Per Clip: 7 Rounds Carried: 28 The Colt, as this weapon is more commonly called, is one of the two pistols a player may equip as a sidearm or secondary weapon. The Colt offers less bullets than the M9, but it is much more powerful, having the ability to sometimes kill in one shot, excepting head shots. =-=-=-=- M9 Beretta 9mm Muzzle Velocity: 341 meters per second Rate of Fire: 4 rounds per second Ammo Type: 9mm round Rounds Per Clip: 15 Rounds Carried: 30 The M9 is the alternate sidearm to the Colt, appealing to a different type of player than the other. The M9 appeals more to the quick-draw and fire-rapidly type of player rather than the take-aim and fire-in-the-chest-or-head type of player the Colt appeals to. The M9 is weaker than the Colt, which is probably why it comes with more rounds per clip. =-=-=-=- Remington 780 Shotgun Muzzle Velocity: 388 meters per second Rate of Fire: 2 rounds per second Ammo Type: 00 Buck round Rounds Per Clip: 7 Rounds Carried: 14 The Remington, or Shotgun/Shottie as many players call it, is the sidearm for those who would rather have force and power than accuracy and precision. The Shotgun is a pump-action weapon, so the player has more of a delay in between shots than the semi-automatic pistols. It is also less accurate, and is exclusive to the Close Quarters Battle and Gunner character classes. Despite these limitations, it is one of the most powerful weapons in the game, and yields many head shots for a rather odd reason. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Section V. Vehicles VCL _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- There are six vehicles documented in the instruction manuals of Black Hawk Down and its expansion pack Team Sabre. However, of these six vehicles, only two vehicles have I seen ever present in online games: the Blackhawk and the Humvee. Despite this, I have provided information on the others just in case Novalogic decides to add more depth to its game. =-=-=-=- AH-6 "Little Bird" Single 252 Shaft Horsepower Allison 250 C20 Gas Turbine Engine 70mm Folding Fin Unguided Rockets Two M134 7.62mm Pod Mounted Miniguns MH Variant Carries Six Soldiers Instead of Weapon Pods Control Panels Modified For Night Flying AAQ-16 Forward Looking Infrared Radar Seating for Two Pilots The Little Bird is the smaller of the two helicopters, and is one of the vehicles that is not see online. The Little Bird can carry soldiers, or it can use that space to equip weapons such as miniguns or missile launchers. =-=-=-=- HMMWV "Humvee" Geared Hubs raise Axle for Higher Clearance Additional Armor To Counter 7.62mm Ammunition Gunner Access Hatch M2 .50 Cal Machine Gun or MK19 40mm Grenade Launcher Run Flat Tires V8, 6.5L, 160 HP, 290 lb.-ft Torque, Diesel Fuel Injection Engine The Humvee is one of the two vehicles that is present in online gameplay. It is used for ground transport, and has a rotating .50 caliber machine gun turret that the player who catches a ride on this vehicle uses. There is usually a pair of Humvees in most urban-set levels, and they offer a decent amount of protection and weaponry for those players who wish to utilize the Humvee's capabilities. =-=-=-=- MH-53M PaveLow IV Power Plant: Two General Electric T64-GE/-100 engines Thrust: 4,330 shaft horsepower per engine Length: 88 feet (28 meters) Height: 25 feet (7.6 meters) Rotary Diameter: 72 feet (21.9 meters) Speed: 265 miles per hour (at sea level) Ceiling: 4,876 meters Maximum Takeoff Weight: 46,000 pounds Range: 600 nautical miles Armament: Combination of three 7.62 miniguns or three .50 caliber machine guns Crew: 6 people. Two pilots (officers); two flight engineers and two aerial gunners (enlisted) The Pavelow was one of three vehicles that are present in the Team Sabre expansion pack. The Pavelow replaces the air transport of the Little Bird and Black Hawk. =-=-=-=- MH-60 "Black Hawk" Dual, 2600 Shaft Horsepower, General Electric Turboshaft Engines AAQ-16 Forward Looking Infrared Radar Accomodates 2 Pilots, 1 Crew Chief, 11 Combat Ready Soldiers Two M134 7.62mm Door Mounted Electric Miniguns The Black Hawk is the other vehicle seen in online gameplay. It is used for air transport, though it has a set track, so the player can only exit where she or he can safely land on a building or other high structure. The Black Hawk has two Miniguns, one at each of its two windows found on the left and right side of the helicopter, and is often used for what you might call aerial assaults if you were drunk or in a similar state of diminished intelligence. The accuracy of the Miniguns is similarly pathetic as the vulnerability of the players who wish to take a ride in the helicopter. A simple explosion, from an AT4 missile to a 40mm grenade round to the blast of a fragmentation grenade, will kill the players inside the Black Hawk easily. Also, the fact that the Black Hawk only takes off if there is a player inside allows even the most unskillful of players to know exactly where you are. Despite all these problems and mishaps of the use of the Black Hawk, the vehicle itself is a deadly piece of machinery in the hands of a very skilled, and very lucky, player. =-=-=-=- RHIB - Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat Hull: Fiber reinforced plastic with Kevlar, e-glass s-glass, and vinylester resin Armament: .50cal machine gun mounted at the bow Engine: Twin Cummins 6BTA5.9-M3 diesel engines Fuel Capacity: 200 gallons of diesel Propulsor Type: Twin Hamilton Jet, HJ 291, 10.0 in impeller diameter water jet Speed: about 40 knots The RHIB is another vehicle that is not present online, as far as many know. This boat, as the name implies, is sued for water transport, and is equipped with .50 caliber machine gun. The path that the RHIB takes is computer-controlled, as with all vehicles in the Black Hawk Down game, but the .50 caliber machine gun allows a full 360-degree rotation similar to the rotation found on the Humvee. =-=-=-=- Vehicle Blinde Leger (VBL) Armament: 7.62 mm machine gun Armor: 11.5 mm Weight: 3590 kilograms Engine: XD 3t compressed turbo Peugeot-diesel Range: 600 km, 800 km with additional jerry cans Speed: 90 kilometers per hour (on land), 10 kilometers per hour (on water) This vehicle is the third and last of the vehicles that Team Sabre introduced to the Black Hawk Down game. It, like most of the other vehicles, is not present online. The VBL resembles a Sport Utility Vehicle in ways, except that the VBL is amphibious. The VBL may also be equipped with weaponry, like a machine gun. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Section VI. Multiplayer Game Types MGT _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- If an online multiplayer game such as Delta Force: Black Hawk Down were to have only one mode of gameplay, the game would become quite boring. Such is the reason there are mutliple game modes in Delta Force: Black Hawk Down. There are modes for those who wish to kill, those who wish to hunt, those who wish to capture, and those who wish to survive. A total of six modes of gameplay exist in the online multiplayer arena. In Deathmatch, the goal of the game is to kill as many other players as possible. One kill is worth one point, and the player who finishes the game with the most points wins the round. While one kill may reward one point to the player, she or he may kill another player in a different manner than simply shooting their body. If, for instance, the player kills an enemy player by shooting her or him in the head, the player receives more experience points than what she or he would have received if she or he had killed the enemy player through normal means. The score may say the player has, for example, 19 points, but she or he may be higher up on the list than someone with 20 points if she or he killed an enemy player through a special means, such as knifing or sniping. One thing for new players to learn is that, if they are Medics looking for medic saves, then Deathmatch is not the place to go. However, while the Medic can not revive or heal anyone in the round of the game, the speed of the Medic may be utilized to the advantage of the player. Deathmatch is usually not recommended to new players, as there are many more targets, and, with only learning the basics, new players do not stand a chance against seasoned players who have been playing Deathmatch for far longer. For this reason, Team Deathmatch is often recommended to new players. In Team Deathmatch, the same goal as standard Deathmatch applies, except for the notable difference of the game mode containing teams. Thus, the goal is to kill as many players of the opposite team as possible. Medics can revive fallen teammates in this mode, unlike in Deathmatch. Also, another difference is that in this mode, there are Progressive Spawn Points. Team Deathmatch is much like a training ground for new players before they decide to tackle other modes of gameplay. This mode of gameplay teaches the players how to revive teammtes, how to capture Progressive Spawn Points, how to work with a team, and most importantly, how to kill. With the skills learned and developed in Team Deathmatch, the players are ready to attempt the more difficult modes of gameplay, such as Attack and Defend, Capture the Flag, and Team King of the Hill. In Attack and Defend, the goal of the game depends upon which side of the battle the player is fighting. If she or he is on the Attacking side of the battle, then her or his goal is to destroy the enemy's targets, which are noted on the map and resemble large rectangular blocks of wood. If she or he is on the Defending side of the battle, her or his goal is to prevent the enemy players from destroying the targets of the player's team. Targets are destroyed by placing a Satchel Charge at the target's base or in a manner in which the target lies in the Satchel Charge's blast radius, and detonating the Satchel Charge. If the reader has not noticed above, that the Close Quarters Battle character class is the only character class that is able to equip the Satchel Charge and thus use it, then the Close Quarters Battle is the only character class that is able to equip the Satchel Charge and use it. Therefore, I think it little need for me to say that if you are not of the Close Quarters Battle character class, you should not expect to destroy any targets. Of the two modes of gameplay in which the goal of the player is to destroy the targets of the enemy player, this mode is the easier of the two. The other mode of gameplay, that of Search and Destroy, is more difficult, and is best attempted once the player has refined her or his skills in Attack and Defend. In Search and Destroy, the goal is a modified form of the goal of Attack and Defend. The goal in Search and Destory is the same for both teams this time. The goal of the player is to destroy the targets of the enemy team, while also defending the targets of her or his own team. Search and Destory is much like taking the two separate goals of Attack and Defend and fusing them together to form a single goal. The destruction of the targets of the enemy team is completed in the same manner as it is in Attack and Defend; the members of the team that are of the Close Quarters Battle character class must equip, use, and detonate a Satchel Charge near enough to a target to destroy. Unlike Attack and Defend, in which the whole of the team which is attacking is mostly of the Close Quarters Battle character class, in Search and Destroy, the team may consist of a variety of character classes. Such variety is one of the keys to success, as while the Close Quarters Battle players of the team are attacking, the members of the team that are of the other character classes are most often needed for defending the targets of the team from the players of the opposing team. In Capture the Flag, the goal of the game is to carry the flags of the enemy team to the flag bay of the player's team. To do such a thing is called capturing an enemy flag, and thus the name of the game makes sense. As with most modes of gameplay, the Close Quarters Battle character class is the best choice of what the player should be if she or he are intending to pursue the goal. As with Search and Destroy, members of the team that are of other character classes than that of Close Quarters Battle are best serving their team in the way of defending the flags of the team from the capturing by members of the enemy team. In Flagball, the goal is a variant of the goal of Capture the Flag. The goal in this mode of gameplay is to carry the lone green flag found equidistant from the spawn areas of each team to the flag bay of the player's team. Again, members of the Close Quarters Battle character class are best to be used if the capturing of flags is what they want. More often than not, however, the capturing of flags loses importance, and the teams resort to killing each other, much like the killing in Team Deathmatch except without the limit. Flagball relies heavily on cooperation among the members of a team to complete the goal, and to function efficiently. A lack of teamwork and cooperation more often than not ensures a failure of the team, both in capturing the green flag, and in killing the members of the enemy team. In Team King of the Hill, the goal is to occupy the Zone until the limit is reached, or to be the team with the higher amount of total time in the Zone when the limit of the game time is reached. In this mode, a preference is not placed upon being of any character class, as the specialties and attributes of each character class are used to full potential in this mode of gameplay to complete the goal of the team. Every character class is more of a benefit than a hindrance to the team. Therefore, it is not uncommon to see many Close Quarters Battle players, many Gunner players, many Medic players, and many Sniper players on the team, each doing her or his own part. A very high importance is placed upon the Medic players of the team, for without a decent effort on their behalf and effective healing and reviving of teammates, the team is not going to be able to make ground outside its spawn area. What categories each game type falls under: Base Wars: Attack and Defend, Search and Destroy Deathmatch: Deathmatch, and Team Deathmatch Flag Games: Capture the Flag, and Flagball King of the Hill: Team King of the Hill =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Section VII. Basic Multiplayer Strategies BMS _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- One of the most important possessions of a player is strategy. While running out into the open field with a machine gun and firing the whole of the clip at anything and anyone that moves seems a good idea to you, it is much more of a foolish idea that will only lead to many deaths on your behalf from skilled opponents. It is much like wearing a target that says "Shoot Here!". Thus, to stay alive and to have a positive kill-to-death ratio at the end of the game round, a player must utilize her or his surroundings, and execute a wise course of action. Most players learn this quickly, and have come to use the same basic strategies, and some have concocted their own strategies that are often either very impressive or extremely dishonorable. For the purpose of teaching honorable strategies, and since I do not wish to be the source of information for players who use dishonorable strategies, the following are those strategies many and most, if not all, players see as such, as in they do not use glitches. A common tactic seen and used online is leaning. Not only does it allow the player to check for claymores and enemies around the corner, it greatly reduces the vulnerability of the player and the chance of being killed by enemy fire. Of course, this is not a guarantee, for it is ultimately the skill of the player that decides how well this strategy is used. A strategy for a Sniper is crouching. This makes the Sniper much less of a target, lowers the chance of being seen by an enemy, and allows more of the surrounding to be utilized as cover. Common places for crouching are behind low walls, inside bushes, behind flag bays, near cars or other vehicles, inside balconies, and behind windows. One thing a Sniper must remember is the enemy is human also, and thus has human intelligence. If a player is being shot in one area repeatedly or is witnessing the death of her or his teammates in one area, then she or he is likely to predict where the Sniper is. A Sniper should move every so often, so as to avoid being found. A sniper rifle is hardly a match against a machine gun or assault rifle in close quarters. Another Sniper strategy is proning. The Sniper becomes a much smaller target, and opens the door to a wide variety of new cover and locations. It is not unusual to find a sniper proning in wreckage, inside a bush, on the edge of a hill, in high grass, or behind a vehicle. The same logic applies to this as to crouching, however. The Sniper should not stay in one location for too long, lest she or he become the next target of the enemy. The Frag Grenades are useful when the enemy is somewhere where she or he is difficult to kill. While a bullet or most any other projectile travels a straight or near-straight path, the arc that the path of the Frag Grenade follows can be modified by adjusting the power of the throw accordingly. Because of this, the Frag Grenade can be used to kill enemies on roofs, around corners, over buildings, or just about anywhere, given certain circumstances. Of course, the delay of the Frag Grenade's detonation results in the use of it to be focused more on timing, and the obstacles the Frag Grenade may encounter while heading towards its target area increase the difficulty of using it correctly. For these reasons, not many players use the Frag Grenades to kill the enemy so much as to destroy claymores online. Though often seen as a dishonorable means of fighting, the Flash Bang is a very useful tool. The Flash Bang blinds the enemy, causing the screen of the enemy to become black in color, and reduces the visibility of the enemy to near none. However, if the player is also in the blast radius of the Flash Bang, she or he will be slightly affected by it also. Though, the player is inflicted with immobility for only a second or so, while the enemy is inflicted with blindness for three or so seconds. The Flash Bang is most often used to cover a run, or is used before the enemy There is a reason why Novalogic allows the player to use Smoke Grenades. The use of a Smoke Grenade reduces the visibility of the enemy, forming a smokescreen that can conceal teammates. The drawback of the Smoke Grenade is that the effects of it also affect the player and her or his teammates. Neither the enemy or the player will be able to see through the produced smoke, or at least see through it with ease. Also, most players have grown accustomed to shooting through the produced smoke, so if the player is using the Smoke Grenade as cover for a run through an area, it will not have much success. Soon the player may be riddled with 7.62mm rounds or perhaps a few 9mm bullets or 40mm grenades. The Smoke Grenade is much better used as an attempt to deceive the enemy. The player shoudl throw the Smoke Grenade where she or he is not planning to go, so as to draw attraction in that area while the player can safely travel through another area. Most of the surroundings are existing for the benefit of the player. Most of the surroundings can be used for cover or to conceal a Sniper. The player should not be afraid to use them to her or his advantage. Rubble and wreckage are usually dark, resulting in ideal hiding places for Snipers or for players attempting to ambush the enemy. Destroyed boxes, crates, and barrels are also usually dark, further increasing the amount of available hiding places for the player. Trees, while not the best for concealing a player, do impede bullets. Therefore, while attempting to hdie behind them is foolish, attempting to use trees as cover is not. Bushes are often dark, low to the ground, and difficult to see through. Snipers can find safe shelter here if they conceal themselves well. A balcony is raised above the surrounding area in most cases, which is a good thing for naders and Snipers, or any other player that wishes to use it. Cars and vehicles are decent areas for cover. The only danger the player must keep in mind is that they are destructible, and will explode if shot a sufficient amount of times. This is why it is a good idea to destroy the car or vehicle first, before using it as cover. Now, for the specific or semi-advanced strategies. These are the strategies a step above basic, in which basic strategies are fused together to form a new strategy. | | | | | | | | | -------------- | | P C | | -------------- | | | | | | | | | This one is a common strategy. The player is found at one end of the alley, leaning around the corner. A claymore of the player is found at the other end of the alley. The claymore prevents enemies from attempting to sneak up behind the player and killing her or him., all the while the player is shooting enemies from the other end of the alley with safety. It is best to set the claymore a little ways from the actual corner itself, for the enemy may see it otherwise and rid the corner of it. ------------------ C1 C2 -------- -------- | | | | Now, let us say that the player(P) is not involved in this one, but the player is approaching an area in which she or he knows enemies(P) were just present recently. A wise player would expect there to be clays around the corners ahead. In this case, the wise player is correct. There are only two possible positions in which the clays can be placed in order to kill the approaching player from the middle alley. One is placed on the left facing towards the alley, and the other is placed on the alternative side also facing the alley. For the player to clear this area without dying, she or he should detonate the clays with an explosive rather than with bullets and leaning, because the clay will detonate in her or his face. Leveling itself depends solely on experience points. The more experience points a player has earned in a certain multiplayer game type, the higher the level that player possesses in that multiplayer game type's category. Ranks, and the promotion from one to the next rung on the ladder, derive their requirements on experience points alos. However, the required experience points vary directly with the average level of the player. In other words, the sum of all the levels the player possesses in multiplayer game type categories divided by the amount of multiplayer game type categories is a reflection of how low the experience points required for the player to be promoted a rank will be. The higher the average level, the lower the experience amount. Though I understand the system the promotions use, I still do not have knowledge of the degree of variation the average level of the player has on the experience points required. Therefore, all I can offer for the promotions and ranks is a list displaying the order in which a player is promoted, beginning with NEW and ending with the exclusive CinC. Presidential Seal - The Presidential Seal is awarded to the one player who becomes Commander-in-Chief. The Presidential Seal is removed once the term of being Commander-in-Chief is over, however. Laggy Nova or Cheat? LNC _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- One of the most common things a player will witness while playing a multiplayer game on a Novaworld server is the amount of whining and complaining the other players in the server possess. These whines and complaints, though they may seem childish and immature, do have a relatively supported base. In this section, an attempt will be made to clear up some confusion players may be experiencing as to whether or not a player is simply a victim of lag, or, worse, that the player is playing unfaithfully, using a cheat or hack of sorts to better herself or himself. A common occurrence of such a thing is when a player witnesses another player what seems to be teleporting or moving very quickly from one place to a place near by. Despite what may be common belief, the occurrence of this is caused by lag from Novaworld's servers. This certain occurrence is called "warping" due to the hyperspeed capabilities the player supposedly possesses in the eyes of others. A feature introduced to the Delta Force series with Black Hawk Down was the direct relation of height and amount of damage received. The higher the distance from the player and the ground, the higher the amount of damage the player will receive if she or he falls. Despite this relationship, there are numerous cases in which a player will fall from a height which should kill her or him, and yet the player escapes unharmed. All that happens is the player's screen flashes in a similar manner to the flashing the player's screen does when the player is shot or injured. One of the most frequent happenings is that a player will be shot numerous and multiple times by an enemy, yet the player wil still be in normal and healthy condition. This, as with most other sources of whining and complaints, is because of the ill-maintained Novaworld servers, which are thus infested with problems and lag. Another common occurrence in Novaworld servers is the failure of the ability to kill an opponent or enemy with an explosive weapon, such as a grenade from an M203 grenade launcher. Instead of receiving damage from the attack, the enemy simply bounces in the air a certain height, resurfaces on the ground, and goes on her or his merry way. This, as with ninety nine percent of complaints, is because of the lag present in Novaworld servers. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Section XI. Glossary of Multiplayer Terms GMT _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- .45 -This is a weapon of the secondary class. It has a clip of seven rounds, and the player carries four clips. .50 Cal -This refers to a broad range of weapons that shoot .50 caliber bullets. This is mostly referring to machine guns or automatic weapons, rather than sniper rifles. 1LT -This is an abbreviation of the rank "First Lieutenant". 1st Person View No Gun -This key makes the gun disappear from the Heads Up Display. Press F2. 1st Person View With Gun -This key makes the gun reappear on the Heads Up Display. Press F3. 203 -This is another method of referring to the M203 Grenade Launcher. 2LT -This is an abbreviation of the rank "Second Lieutenant". 3rd Person View -This key takes the camera from behind the eyes of the player and places it behind the body of the player. Press F4. 50 Cal. -This is another method of referring to the Barrett, which shoots a .50 caliber bullet. 50 Cal. -This is another method of referring to the Emplaced 50 Cal., which is a stationary .50 caliber machine gun. A -This is the first of the two rounds of the level in the team gameplay modes. AD -This is an abbreviation of the Attack and Defend gameplay mode. AH-6 -This is the technical term for the Littlebird, which is rarely ever seen online. Aim Bot -This is a hack in which the player is granted the ability to shoot any target with the first shot from any distance. AN/PVS 7B Night Vision Goggles -This is the technical term for the night vision goggles, which allow the player visibility in darker areas. AN-M8 HC Smoke Grenade -This is the technical term for the Smoke Grenade, which is used as a method of cover for allies or distraction of enemies. APC -This is an inoperative vehicle found in some levels. Its name is an abbreviation for "Armored Personnel Carrier". The APC is seen in two colors, white and green, and on its side are the letters "UN". Armor Cheat -This is a supposed cheat in which the player is granted abnormal health or extra spawn armor. There is no proof of the existence of this, just the constant whining of...jealous...players. Armory -This is where the weapons are stored. The player may come here and change her or his character class and weapons. There are three forms of Armory: the truck, which has a mesh netting on the top of it; the building, which is large and gray most often and has a unique interior; and the box, which is a collection of ammunition boxes and weapons found in a somewhat organized gathering on the ground. All forms of Armory are marked with an A on the map of the player. To use an Armory, the player presses 0 (zero) to access the character and weapon change screen. When she or he is done without outfitting her or his character, the Accept button on the bottom of the change screen finalizes the business. Assault Rifle -This is what you could call a class of weapons. There are three weapons in this class: the CAR-15, the G36, and the M16. AT-4 -This is the only rocket launcher in the game, and the Gunner class is the only character class with access to it. The AT-4 is an anti-tank weapon, and as such, it is used for everything else but anti-tank purpose. The most common of its uses is to rid a vehicle, either a Blackhawk or a Humvee, of an enemy. Attack and Defend -This is a gameplay mode found on Novaworld. One team attacks, which is in the form of destroying enemy targets with Satchel Charges, and one team defends, which is in the form of preventing the enemy from destroying the team's targets. Auto-Elevation -This is an out-of-date feature of the Sniper, in which the sniper rifles were set to auto-elevation. Under the auto-elevation setting, the Sniper did not have to set the bullet-drop of the rifle. Rather, the Sniper only had to shoot and the bullet would hit its target from any distance. Novalogic removed this feature in one of the updates, and now the Sniper class has to set the bullet-drop when firing a sniper rifle. Auto Nade -This is another method of referring to the Automatic Grenade Launcher, which fires 40mm grenade rounds. Auto Run -This key results in the player running continuously in one direction. This is used if the player wishes to do something else, like type or talk over a voice network. Press Scroll Lock. Automatic Grenade Launcher -This is an emplaced weapon which fires 40mm at a rate of 350 per minute. This weapon is found mostly in large levels, in which the Automatic Grenade Launchers of often found in vantage points like roofs and the ends of streets. B -This is the second of the two rounds of the level in the team gameplay modes. The teams have switched spawns and may have changed goals. Back -This key causes the player to retreat. The player stays facing forward and backsteps. Press the Down arrow or S. Balcony -This is an elevated area found in many city-set levels that is accessible through either walking up the slanted wall found to the side of it, or by falling or jumping into it. Barrel -This is an object found in many city-set levels. There two forms in which it comes in: the red and blue form, in which it is destructible; and the wooden form, in which it is indestructible. Barrett -This is a weapon of the Sniper character class, and is thus a sniper rifle. The rifle fires a 0.50 BMG round. There are ten rounds per clip, and the player carries a total of ten clips. Barrett M82A1 .50 Cal -This is the technical term for the Barrett sniper rifle. It is among the loudest of weapons. Beretta -This is a weapon of the secondary class. It carries two clips of fifteen rounds, and is slightly less powerful, but more accurate, than the Colt. Binoculars -A valuable tool, allowing you to scan the terrain with the press of the B key. However, these are rarely seen used online due to being vulnerable when using them, or simply because of not caring where the enemy is. Bfs -This is a rather uncivil term meaning "bull fucking shit". The saying of this term is usually the result of a very hard-to-believe incident, which more or less involves the enemy either not dying after being shot, or killing the player through seemingly impossible means. BG -This is an abbreviation of the rank "Brigadier General". Bg -This is a term used at the end of a game round. It means "bad game". It is used when the game ...was bad. BHD -This is an abbreviation of the name of the game. It means "Black Hawk Down". The name is derived from the incident occuring in Mission Irene in which a Black Hawk took a hit from a Somali projectile weapon, and crash landed in the city of Mogadishu. Black Hawk -The Black Hawk is one of the two vehicles that is present in online gameplay. The Black Hawk is found in many urban-set levels, and takes off from the ground once a player climbs inside and waits a few seconds. Once in the air, the Black Hawk flies a set path, which usually covers most if not all of the areas of the city. The weaponry found on the Black Hawk includes two Miniguns, of which there is one accompanying each window on either side of the Black Hawk. Players who use the Black Hawk are very vulnerable, however, so it is wise to avoid this vehicle all together, unless of course the player thinks she or he has the skill required. Blue -Blue is one of the two colors a team found in Novaworld games can be. Blue Team is the opposition of Red Team, and it is the duty of Blue Team to prevent Red Team from winning at all costs, excepting of course cheating and glitching and the like. Board -There are numerous boards found in the levels. Boards serve as makeshift bridges, which span a gap that is usually not able to be jumped across. Boards are indestructible. Booted -This is a term that refers to the action of the Novaworld game server kicking a player from the game. This is usually caused by a Connection Interrupted, and is common among dial-up connection players. Box -The box is an object found in many city-set levels. It resembles a large wooden crate that is covered by a protective tarp of sorts. The box is indestructible. Brb -As in most froms of communication, brb means "be right back". It is often used when a player is going to be stepping away from the game for a relatively short period of time. Bs -This term is mostly used when the player doubts what has just occurred, and means "bull shit". Bulletproof -This term is used when a player is accusing another player of using a cheat that endows the player with protection from bullets. Bulletproof Cheat -This is a cheat which supposedly bestows the player with more protection from bullets. Camp -This is a method of playing in which the player stays in one location for the duration of the game or a similarly extensive period of time, and attacks the enemy only from this position. Camping is very shunned upon. Camper -This term is used to accuse a player of Camping, or staying in one spot for a long period of time, and is supposed to be taken as an insult. Capture the Flag -Capture the Flag is a mode of online gameplay in which each team is attempting to capture all of the enemy's flag, while protecting the team's flags from enemy capture. To capture a flag, a player must run over a flag of the opposing team's color and return it to the flag bay of the team. To prevent a capture, the player must shoot the enemy flagcarrier, and run over the flag dropped by the enemy to return the flag to its spawn location. Car -The car is a vehicle found in many urban-set levels. It is destructible, and can be blown up to kill enemies that may be caught in its blast radius. Once blown up, the car serves as a decent cover spot. CAR-15 -The CAR-15 is one of three assault rifles, and can be used by all character classes except the Sniper. Close Quarters Battle and Gunner players are encouraged to choose the M203 variant. CAR-15 Colt 5.56mm AR -This is the technical name for the CAR-15. It is a fully automatic assault rifle, and features a laser-scope. CAR-15 Colt 5.56mm AR/M203 Grenade Launcher -This is the technical name for the CAR-15/M203. The weapon features the CAR-15 assault rifle, with an explosive bonus. CAR-15/M203 -The Car-15/M203 is the CAR-15 assault rifle with a breach-loading M203 grenade launcher fixed on the bottom of the barrel. This weapon is available to Close Quarters Battle and Gunner character classes only. Celebration 1 -This emote causes the player to yell animal-like noises, and noises similar to the Marine Corps' hoo-ah yell. It is usually used at the beginning of the game, after a player kills another player, or when the player just feels like using it. Press F9 and then 6. Celebration 2 -This emote causes the player to yell "Hey!" in differnet tones and volumes. It is usually used at the beginning of the game, when a player is sneaking up on an enemy, when the player is trying to get the attention of a fellow teammate, or whenever the player feels like it. Press F9 and then 7. Chair -The chair is another indestructible item found in city-set levels. A player could use it for cover I guess. Character Class -There are four categories of character class: Close Quarters Battle, Gunner, Medic, and Sniper. Each class has its own abilities and weapons, and different players are comfortable playing as different character classes. CI -This is an abbreviation for "Connection Interrupted" and is used when the player has encountered an interference between her or his computer and the game server. Long CI's usually result in being booted or kicked from the game. Clan -This is a synonym of squad, and refers to a group of players who have decided to ally themselves into a group. Clans are not uncommon, and are what many players become members of. Class -This is usually used as a shortened form of character class. Clay -This is is an abbreviation for claymore, an auxiliary weapon that is an anti-personnel mine. Half of the character classes have access to this weapon, the exceptions being the character classes of Gunner and Medic. Claymore -The claymore is an auxiliary weapon which can be used by players of the Close Quarters Battle and Sniper character classes. Claywhore -This is a not-so-common-anymore insult which was used when a player overused claymores to the point where a good seventy-five percent or so of her or his kills were from the claymores that player set. Clear -Existing in King of the Hill games, clear is a choice a team can take to evacuate the Zone when the timer is soon to reach the goal time. Clip -A clip is a cartridge of ammo which is used to supply pistols, rifles, machine guns, and other guns with ammunition. There are many different types of clips, carrying bullets of different caliber, and used for different types of guns. Clothes -Clothes, which appear in the form of a rack, are found in many urban located levels. The clothes, as well as the wooden structure they hang from, are indestructible, and the player may prone, crawl under the hanging clothing, and use the newly reached location for cover from enemy fire or to ambush the enemy. Close Quarters Battle -This is one fo the four chartacter classes a player can choose to be a member of. This character class is best suited to what its name implies: combat of the close quarters variety. Although this is not always true, as the Close Quarters Battle character can also be just as and much more deadly at a farther distance and range. The Close Quarters Battle character class has access to mostly assault rifles, and is the only character class which has access to the Satchel Charge auxiliary weapon. The Close Quarters Battle character class is also granted with the best speed average, and a wider and more efficient knifing range than any other character. CinC -This is an abbreviation of the rank "Commander-in-Chief". COL -This is an abbreviation of the rank "Colonel". Colt M1911A1 .45 -This is the technical name for the .45, a weapon of the secondary class which is slightly more powerful than the M9 Beretta, but carries a little less ammunition. Command Prompt -This is a box in which the player enters orders for the game, or more accurately the game server, to fulfill. Press "`", and enter an order. Confirm -This is a question that appears when the player presses ESC to exit the current game; press the corresponding key to stay in or leave the game. CPL -This is an abbreviation of the rank "Corporal". CPT -This is an abbreviation of the rank "Captain". CQB -This is an abbreviation of one of the character classes the player is given the option of playing as which means "Close Quarters Battle." Crate -This is an object found most commonly in city-set levels. It is larger than a box, and is usually covered with a sheet of some sort. The crate is also indestructible. Crouch -This is one of the three fighting stances that the character may enter. The Crouch postion allows the character to kneel on one knee, and move in a cautious manner. This also diminishes the target area fro the enemy, and can be used to conceal the player in combat or to provide the player with cover from surrounding objects. Press either END or X. CTF -This is an abbreviation of the game type "Capture the Flag." Cycle Flags -This allows the player to change the waypoint to direct her or him to another flag, rather than the flag the waypoint is currently position on. Press F5. Cycle Waypoints -This cycles the set positions of the waypoint throughout the map, allowing the player to change the destination she or he wishes to be gudied toward. Press F7. Cycle Weapons Down -This is a function which cycles through the weapons the player is equipped with in a decreasing order depending on which numbers each weapon is set to. In other words, the sequence of weapon cycling follows this: (n-1), where n is the number the weapon currently equipped is set to. Press "". Cycle Weapons Up -This is a function which cycles through the weapons the player is equipped with in an increasing order depending on which numbers each weapon is set to. In other words, the sequence of weapon cycling follors this: (n+1), where n is the number the weapon currently equipped is set to. Press "". Dead -This is one of the four health states the player can be of while playing. The player has two options when in this state: respawn or call for a Medic. If the player has been shot in the head, knifed, or has committed suicide, then the player can not be revived. Furthermore, if the player is playing in the Deathmatch multiplayer gametype, then there is no use for the player to call for a Medic, as no Medic will come. To be of this state means the player has received a sufficient amount of damage to kill her or him. Death -This is the occurrence when the player has received sufficient amount of damage to enter her or him into the dead health state. Deathmatch -This is a type of multiplayer gameplay in which the goal of the players is to kill as many other players in the game as possible. There are no teams. Medics are useless in this gameplay mode unless used for speed. Deaths -This is the recorded number of times a player has been killed on Novaworld servers. DF -This is an abbreviation of the first installment of the Delta Force series, Delta Force. DF2 -This is an abbreviation of the second installment of the Delta Force series, Delta Force 2. DM -This is an abbreviation of the multiplayer gameplay mode Deathmatch. Double Kill -This is the occurrence of a player hitting two bird with one stone, that is she or he has killed two enemies with one bullet. A double kill is specified in yellow text. Emotes -These are special actions that a player can use to either play around or order another player to do something; press F9. Emplaced .50 Cal -This is an emplaced weapon, commonly known as the .50 caliber machine gun. The Emplaced .50 Cal is found in many multiplayer levels. The Emplaced .50 Cal fires 550 rounds per minute. Press SHIFT to take control of one. Emplaced Weapon -This is a type of weapon. This category contains the Automatic Grenade Launcher, the Emplaced .50 Cal, and the Minigun. EULA -This is an abbreviation of End User License Agreement. The EULA is the document each player must sign to use Novalogic services. Exit -This is an action a player can take to leave the current game. Press ESC. Exp -This is an abbreviation of experience. Exp refers to the experience points a player has accumulated or needs to acquire in order to advance a level or promotion. Experience Points -This is a cumulative score given at the end of each game that promotes you both in the ways of level and rank. FB -This is an abbreviation of the multiplayer gameplay mode Flagball. FF -This is an abbreviation of Friendly Fire. Fire -This is shooting a weapon. Press ENTER or LEFT MOUSE BUTTON. Flag -This is an object found in Capture the Flag and Flagball. There are three colors a flag appears in: Blue, Green, and Red. Flagball -This is a type of multiplayer gametype in which each team tries to capture the single flag located in each level, while preventing the opposing team from doing the same. Flagcarrier -This is a player that has obtained a Flag. This is only located in Capture the Flag and Flagball, as they are the only multiplayer gameplay modes that contain flags. Flash Bang -This is one of the three types of grenades a player may use in combat. The detonation of this blinds the enemy for a few seconds. Press 4. Flex -This is an emote. Press F9 then 9. Flip/Cartwheel -This once caused the character to do a flip/cartwheel when idle. It has been removed and replaced with another emote. Forward -This results in the player running forward. Press either W or UP. Frag -This is an abbreviation of the Frag Grenade. Frag Grenade -This is a small, round weapon with a delayed explosive detonation. Press 5. Fratricide -This is the action in which a player kills her or his teammate. Excessive doing of this results in the player being kicked. Note that this is only applied to those servers that have Friendly Fire activated. Free -This is a term used when neither side will fire upon the other, and both sides will be allowed to capture flags, destroy targets, take PSPs, and stay in the Zone. This is referred to as stat padding, and the punishment for doing so is account termination. Friendly -This is usually used before an item, like Satchel or Claymore. It used to differentiate ally from enemy items. Friendly Fire -This is a feature in which allies can shoot and kill each other. Head shots, knife kills, etc. still count towards stats, but friendly kills count increases, and the player may have a negative score at the end of the game round. Friendly Tags -These are the names of your teammates. They can either be normal (displays teammates' full names), abbreviated (teammates receive a green vertical line above them), or turned off. FT -This is an abbreivation of Friendly Tags. G2g -This is an abbreviation for got to go. It is usually used when a player is leaving the game and not returning. GEN -This is an abbreviation of the rank General. Gg -This is an abbreviation of good game. It is used when the teams had an entertaining battle. Gga -This is an abbreviation of good game all. It is used when the player wants to compliment on the enemies' skills, along with teammates. Gj -This is an abbreviation of good job. It is used when a player accomplishes a task. Glitch -This is an error in the game in which a player may benefit from producing it. Glitcher -This is a player who uses a glitch to kill or gain access to a normally inaccessible area. Using a glitch is punishable by the banning of your player or the clearing of your character's stats. GOA -This is an abbreviation of the rank General of the Army. Green -This is one of four health states a player can be in. The player is in top, or very close to it, health. Grenade -This is A classification of weapons. There are three types of weapons in this class: Frag Grenade, Flash Bang, and Smoke Grenade. Gunner -This is one of the four character classes a player can be. Gunners have the most health, and minimized recoil with weapons. Also, the Gunner character class has exclusive access to squad automatic weapons and the AT4. Hack -This is an interference with the programming of the game that allows a player to manipulate certain attributes to better herself or himself. Hacker -This is a player who uses hacks to better herself or himself in ways that are unnatural. The act of doing so is illegal. Hawk -This is an abbreviated term for the Black Hawk. Health State -This is the status of a player. There are four health states: Green, Yellow, Red, and Dead. A Medic can restore any player in either of the latter three states to Green through the use of a Medpack. Heli -This is an abbreviation of helicopter. It is used to refer to the Black Hawk. Helo -This is an abbreviation somehow meaning the Black Hawk. Help -This allows the player to view information on the controls of the game. Press F1. HMMWV -This is the technical term for the Humvee. It means High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle. Hmv -This is an abbreviation of Humvee. HUD -This is an abbreviation for Heads Up Display, which is what the player sees when playing, or, in other words, the screen that the player uses to control her or his character. HUD Detail Level -This removes and adds features of the HUD. Press F6. HUD On/Off -This is the toggle for if the player wishes to have the HUD or not. Press H. Humvee -This is one of two vehicles a player can take a ride in online. It is equipped with a .50 cal emplaced machine gun on a fully-rotatable platform. Hut -This is a small building found in many levels. Inside is a one-room hiding spot. It has white/gray walls and a red/brown roof. Invincibility -This is a supposed cheat which enables the player to become immune to all forms of damage. There is no proof of existence. Invisibility Cheat -This is a supposed cheat which enables the player to disappear from view. There is no proof of its existence. Jump -This is an action a player can take that allows her or him to elevate a small distance from the ground for about two seconds. Press SPACE BAR. Jump -This is a hack that allows a player to elevate great distances off the ground. Jumper -This is a player who uses a Jump hack. Kabar -This is a synonym for Knife. Kicked -This is a term referring to when a player is forced out of a game for high ping or excessive fratricide. Kill -This is the process in which you end the life of the enemy through various actions. Kill/Player List -This allows the player to see which other players are in the current game. It is listed by most experience points to lowest. Press K. Knife -This is a weapon every character class is equipped with. Press 1. Knives Only -This is a form of game in which all participants use only their knife to kill enemies. This used to be very popular among games where few people were playing, but since the enforcement of stat padding, the number of these games has severely lowered. Ladder -This is an item found in practically every urban set level. Climbing, through simply running into it, causes the player to access higher or lower ground. Lead -This is an aim-to-movement sort of relationship which is the same for nearly all weapons, the exclusions being weapons of the explosive variety, of course. All it boils down to really is shooting a little ahead of the target, so the bullet hits the target on the run. Lean -This is an addition to the franchise. It allows you to look around corners without exposing all of yourself to enemy sight. Press Q to lean left, press E to lean right. Level -This is a system of ranking. There are four types: Base War, Deathmatch, Flag, King of the Hill. There is Level 1 to Level 50 in each type. A level is earned through gaining experience points. Limit -This is the set amount of score required to win a game. Line of Fire -This is rarely used. It refers to the area in which a player's weapon unleashes bullets if used. It also may be used in servers with Friendly Fire on. Line of Sight - This is rarely used. It refers to the visible area of a player when facing one direction. Little Bird -This is a vehicle mostly found in single player, with very few exceptions online. LTC -This is an abbreviation of the rank Lieutenant Colonel. Medic -This is one of the four classes a player can be. A Medic can revive and heal fallen and wounded allies, is fastest of classes; has exclusive access to Medpack. Medpack -This is an exclusive feature of the Medic. The Medpack allows the player to equip a reviving and health-restoring tool. Press 9. MG -This is an abbreviation of the rank Major General. MH-6 -This is a variant of the AH-6. The MH-6 carries six soldiers instead of weapon pods. MH-60 -This is the technical term for the Black Hawk. Minigun -This is an emplaced weapon found on Black Hawks and buildings online. Press SHIFT to man it. The Minigun fires 2,000-6,000 bullets a minutes. Missile -This is a term some players use to refer to an AT-4. Mission Briefing -This displays what the purpose of the type of game is, what a player must do to win, a list of actions that will earn points, and a short glossary. Press G. MK19 40mm Machine Gun -This is the technical term for the Automatic Grenade Launcher. MP5A3 H&K 9mm SMG -This is the technical term for the MP5. MP5 -This is a weapon of the CQB character class; 30 rounds per clip, 300 rounds carried. MSG -This is an abbreviation of the rank Master Sergeant. Murder -This is the occurrence of when a player has killed a teammate. A Murder is only possible when Friendly Fire is on. N -This is one of two confirmation answers the player can use when the Confirm question appears after the player presses ESC; results in the player not leaving the game. N1 -This is an abbreviation of nice one. It used when a player wants to compliment an enemies' action or actions. Nade -This is an abbreviation of grenade. Nade -This is usually meant as the Frag Grenade. Nader -This is a player who constantly launches grenades from an M203 variant. NEW -This is a rank meaning the player is new to Novaworld and has not earned any experience points. Newb -This is a term used to classify a player, used for new players. Nice -This is Self-explanatory. Night Vision -This allows the player to see and play in darkness. Press N to activate your goggles. Nightstalker -This is yet another term for the Black Hawk. Nk -This is an abbreviation of nice knife; used when a player is knifed by an enemy in an exceptionally skilled process. Nm -This is an abbreviation of nevermind. Noob -This is a term used as an insult. It is used when the enemy uses cowardly tactics, or when an enemy acts very immature. Noobed -This is a term used when a player is killed by cowardly tactics. For example, being killed by an AT-4 fired from an enemy at a very close range is commonly seen as being noobed. Nop -This is an abbreviation of "no problem"; used usually after receiving an apology. Nova -This is short for Novaworld or Novalogic. Np -This is an abbreviation of no problem. It is used usually after receiving an apology. Ns -This is a term used to compliment a player. It means nice shot. Nt -This is an abbreviation of nice try. It is used to appreciate meds who died trying to revive a teammate. NVG -This is an abbreviation of Night Vision Goggles. Nvm -This is an abbreviation of nevermind. Ny -This is a term used to compliment a player on her or his Double Kill. It means nice yellow. Peashooter -This is a term the MP5 and/or M21 is/are also known as. PFC -This is an abbreviation of the rank Private First Class. Pipe -This is a substitute in some levels for a ladder; only certain ones are able to be climbed. Pistols -This is the category of the M9 Beretta and Colt .45 weapons. Pistols Only -This is a form of play in which only weapons that fall under the Pistols category are allowed. Play Dead This is an emote. It causes the player to do as a possum does and attempt to trick the opponent into thinking she or he is actually dead. Press F9 then 8. Player Stats -This is a feature found on the Novaworld main page; allows players to view their and other's stats. Primary Weapon -This is the classification the rifles, machine guns, and sub-machine gun fall under. Press 3. Progressive Spawn Point -This is the technical term for PSP. Prone -This is a fighting stance. It means you are laying on the ground. Press either PAGE DOWN, MIDDLE MOUSE BUTTON, or Z. Proner -This is a term reserved for those who are prone in battle. For some reason, people seem to think it as a good insult to use. PSP -This is an object found in certain areas of levels which, when touched and captured, allows the player's team to spawn there. PSP Attempt -This is the action when a player touches a PSP. There is no point reward until the PSP is captured. PSP Capture -This is the action after a player touches a PSP, and makes it spawn-accessible for her or his team. PVT -This is an abbreviation of the rank Private. Radar -This is a term referring to the circular map found at the bottom right corner of the game screen that allows the player to see where allies, objects, and paths are. Radio Detonator -This is an item used when Satchel Charges have been placed and you are ready to detonate them. Press 8. Rank -This is a series of promotions that players earn through gaining experience points. The system of ranks begins with NEW, and ends with CnC or GOA. Rape -This is the process in which one team continually kills the opposing team near or at the opposing team's spawn. Raper -This is a player who participates in raping the opposing team. Recent Messages -This is a list which displays what players recently typed, and a list which displays recent kills. Press U. Red -This is one of two teams which plays on Novaworld servers. Red -This is one of four health states a player can be in. The player has received moderate or critical damage. Reload -This refills your weapon with the maximum rounds it can hold in one clip. Any bullets left in the clip when you reload will be added to your total ammo. Press R. Remington 780 Shotgun -This is the technical term for the Shotgun. Respawn -This is an action a player takes when he or she has died; results in the player spawning at their initial base. Rocket -This is another word for the AT-4. Roll -This is an addition to the franchise. Roll allows you to dodge enemy fire when prone. Press Q to roll left, press E to roll right. Rookie -This is a term referring to the amount of skill a player has. It is another term for a new player. Rw -This is an abbreviation for Roger Wilco. It is a program used to communicate with other players while on Novaworld. Sandbag Pile -This is a group of sandbags used as cover; usually found around emplaced weapons. Satchel -This is an abbreviated term for the Satchel Charge. Satchel Charge -This is an Auxiliary or Explosives type weapon. Basically, the Satchel Charge is a remote mine. Press 7 to equip the satchel and 8 to equip the detonator. SAW -This is a weapon of the Gunner character class; 200 rounds per clip, 600 rounds are carried. Scope -This is the piece of a weapon through which you look. It is found on the CAR-15's, the G36's, and sniper rifles. Scope -This activates the scope of the weapon. Press either "/" or RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON. Scope Elevation -This is the distance the bullet of your weapon will travel; either press "'" or MOUSE WHEEL UP to increase, either press SHIFT + "'" or MOUSE WHEEL DOWN to decrease. Scope Magnification -This is the level of zoom of the scope you are using. Scope Zero -This is the level of drop the bullet of your weapon is set at. Either press "'" or MOUSE WHEEL UP to increase the zero, and either press SHIFT + "'" or MOUSE WHEEL DOWN to decrease the zero. Screen Shot -This is a feature that allows the player to take pictures in the game. It is usually used as proof of a cheater or glitcher and sent to Novaworld through e-mail. Press F11. SGT -This is an abbreviation of the rank Sergeant. Shotgun -This is the most common alias of the Remington. It falls under category of Sidearm. Shotgun Only -This is a form of play in which only the Shotgun is allowed. It gives the game a nice Redneck twist. Sidearm -This is the classification the pistols and shotgun fall under. Press 2. Sidearms Only -This is a form of play in which only weapons that fall under the category of Sidearm are allowed. Smoke -This is another name for the Smoke Grenade. Smoke Grenade -This is a grenade, the detonation of which causes heavy mist to appear in a small radius, decreasing the enemy's, as well as your team's, visibility beyond it. Press 6. Smoker -This is a term applied to a player who excessively uses Smoke Grenades. Sniper -This is one of the four character classes the player may choose to be. The Sniper has a faster crawling speed than the other character classes. This character class also has exclusive access to sniper rifles. Sniper Bonus -This is an additional amount points rewarded to the player for killings of enemies acquired through the use of sniper rifles. The amount of bonus rewarded increases in proportion to the distance the player is from the enemy. Spawn -This is an action taken when a player dies which results in that player either starting at her or his initial base or a Progressive Spawn Point. Press SPACE BAR to start at the initial base or press the corresponding letter of the Progressive Spawn Point to start there. Spawn -This is the area in which the player or the enemy initially starts the game and starts alternatively if she or he did not choose to respawn at Progressive Spawn Point. Spawn Armor -This is a temporary invincibility given to players who have just respawned. It is a safety measure against raping. Speed-Cheat -This is more of a hack than a cheat. It allows the user to move extremely fast. Speed-Cheater -This is a player who uses a Speed-Cheat. Speeder -This is another term for a Speed-Cheater. Squad -This is an amount of players who have allied with other players, and share an abbreviation somewhere in their name. An example would be the squad I am a member of, IO, which means Insane Ops. SS -This is an abbreviation meaning screen shot. Stadium -This is an area of some levels. It is a place where football (or soccer) was played. There are many entrances, and towers that players may climb for nice vantage points. Stand -This is a fighting stance. It means you are in the normal, standing position. Press DELETE or C. Stat -This is a word you enter into the Command Prompt to see if your stats are being recorded. Stats -This is a feature of Novaworld which records the achievements of the players on its stat-recording servers. Stat Padding -This is a collective term for any of several ways to increase a player's stats that violates the licensed agreement (also known as the End User License Agreement). Stat Padder -This is a player who stat pads. Stat Whore -This is an insult. It means a player who is concerned only about her or his stats, and seems to not play for enjoyment or any other purpose. Stfu -This is an abbreviation of shut the **** up. It is used when a player is insulted or accused of cheating or the like. Strafe -This is a much-helpful skill that allows the player to sidestep quickly. Press either LEFT or A to strafe left. Press either RIGHT or D to strafe right. Stun Grenade -This is a synonym for the Flash Bang. Suicide -This means the player has killed herself or himself. Sun -This is found in the sky of most, if not all, day set levels. Looking at the sun lowers visibility of the player. Tactical -This is a weapon of the Sniper character class. It carries 4 rounds per clip; 180 rounds carried, 18x zoom. Talk -This is an action which allows the player to communicate with everyone on the game server; press T. Target -This is an object found in the Search and Destroy and Attack/Defend multiplayer game types. Players either blow the target up with a Satchel or defend it with their lives. -TDM -This is an abbreviation of the multiplayer game type Team Deathmatch. Team -This is the side in which players of Novaworld play the game on. The player is either on the Red or Blue team. Players cooperate if they are on the same team. Team Deathmatch -This is a type of multiplayer game in which each team tries to get more kills than the opposing team. Team King of the Hill -This is a type of multiplayer game in which each team tries to hold and defend the Zone, an area of each level. Team Talk -This is an action which allows the player to communicate with everyone on her or his team. Press Y. TFD -This is an abbreviation for the fourth installment of the Delta Force series, Task Force Dagger. Timer -This is the countdown found at the bottom right corner of the game screen. TKOTH -This is an abbreviation of Team King of the Hill. Tracers -This is the colored trail that follows bullets, and allows players to see where enemy and friendly fire is originating from. Some servers have this feature off. Truck -This is an inoperative vehicle found in some levels. Hiding in its bed may or may not prove useful. Truck -This is an inoperative vehicle found in some levels. Destroy it to be able to hide in its back. -Ty -This is an abbreviation of thank you. U2 -This is an abbreviation of you too. Use Item/Attach -This allows the player to use emplaced weapons and vehicles. Press SHIFT. Van -This is an inoperative vehicle found in some levels. It comes complete with a driver. Van -This is an inoperative vehicle found in some levels. It has a ladder on its side which may or may not prove useful. Vantage Point -This is any area where the player can gain advantage over the enemy. For example, a tower or any other raised area. Vehicle -This is an alternate transportation of walking. In this type of transportation, there are two choices: Humvees and Black Hawks, each equipped with weapons. Vet -This is a term used to classify a player. It used for the most experienced of players. Visibility -This is the degree of how clear or accurate a player can see. Vns -This is a rarely-used term which is reserved for shots of the highest difficulty and skill. It means very nice shot. W2g -This is a rarely-used term used when a player either does something great or stupid. It means way to go. Wall-hack -This is a hack which allows the player to run through walls and buildings. Wall-hacker -This is a player who uses a Wall-hack. Waypoint -This is the area of the level where the green arrow on the map points to. It can be cycled by pressing F7. Wood Barrel -This is an object found in most city set levels. It is similar to barrel. It is also indestructible. XM84 Stun Grenade -This is the technical term for the Stun Grenade. Y -This is one of two confirmation answers the player can use when the Confirm question appears after the player presses ESC. The choosing of this option results in the player leaving the game. Yellow -This is one of the four health states a player can be in. The player received minor damage. Yellow -This is another word for Double Kill. Zone -This is an area in each TKOTH level which each team tries to hold and defend against the other team. The percentage displayed when in the Zone is how far in it you are, with 0% being the very rim and 90+% being near the center.
