INTRODUCTION AND DESCRIPTION ============================================================================== This FAQ will give information specific to the Battle Mode portion of Fatal Frame, available to players after they have completed the game the first time. ============================================================================== 2. Battle Mode ============================================================================== So you've beaten the game. Now what? Start another Normal Difficulty game. That's right. First off, you must complete the ghost list to properly handle battle mode. Zero is a requirement for Kirie S-Rank and sanity in a few of the battles, it is recommended for almost all battles. Once you complete the ghost list, save and come back to battle mode. If necessary do some battles to gain spirit points for upgrades. So now you have the Zero Ability and are ready to rock. Forget just trying to complete battle mode, you should stick with a battle until you have achieved an S-Rank for that battle. S-Rank is determined by one thing only; a shot taken in the battle that gave over 7,000 Spirit Points. Time doesn't matter, total score doesn't matter, basically only the final shot of a battle matters. So long as you have 1 exposure of film left when the ghost is about done, you can still S-Rank the battle. Ability: Zero Life: 150 Attack Damage: Swoop(10%) Difficulty: 2 (S) Difficulty: 4 Strategy Notes: Move towards her and get her to attack asap, she can only take one hit at full charge. Ability: Zero Life: 200 Attack Damage: Rush(40%) Difficulty: 3 (S) Difficulty: 4 Strategy Notes: Try to keep this one in your sights, the Tatami room is a bit of a pain when it comes to battling because of the small range from center to edges as well as the obstacles in the center. Snap off a quick shot to bring her to where 1 Zero shot will do it. Great Time: :30 Great Score: 7,500 Battle 5 --------- Location: Backyard Ghost(s): Novelist's Film Given: Type-14 Bonus Function: Paralyze Spec. Ability: Zero Life: 650 Attack Damage: Bash(45%), Grab(45%) Special Attack: Blind 3Sec Difficulty: 6 (S) Difficulty: 3 Strategy Notes: The Novelist is a quick spirit and he hits very hard, but once you get used to his circling patterns he becomes much easier. His attacks are very easy to spot and counter. The ideal final shot would take place just as he begins to attempt his blinding move (bends over and screams). Great Time: 1:00 Great Score: 7,500 Battle 6 --------- Location: Corridor Ghost(s): Longhair Woman Film Given: Type-14 Bonus Function: Paralyze Spec. Ability: Zero Life: 400 Attack Damage: Rush(33%) Difficulty: 6 (S) Difficulty: 7 Strategy Notes: If not for this ghost's weaker damage, this would be one of the hardest of the battles. The corridor is a horrible place to deal with this ghost, as she loves to stay hidden behind the walls. Just try to use your ears and keep her a good distance away. Chip away at her with minor shots while you can so that when you do get a great shot, it is the final one. Great Time: 1:00 Great Score: 7,500 Battle 7 --------- Location: Abyss Ghost(s): Wandering Monk Film Given: Type-14 Bonus Function: Paralyze Spec. Ability: Zero Life: 400 Attack Damage: Spinning Kick(33%), Rush(33%) Missile Damage: 5% Difficulty: 8 (S) Difficulty: 4 Strategy Notes: In closed spaces, the wandering monk is among the most dangerous ghosts in the game. However in the abyss the Wandering Monk has lost most of its teeth. He flies and teleports in circles. If suddenly he lunges to your right, simply back away, he is about to perform a spinning kick. Once he misses you will have a sweet shot. The best Final shot comes from his rush attack, which he telegraphs with a loud "hooooooooooooooooooooo."
