The Story B. The Basics 1) Switches 2) Elevators/ Lifts 3) Miscellaneous C. The Controls =============================== A. The Story =============================== Ok. Here we go. It all starts with two brothers, Sumner and Garm, who are both very, very powerful mages. Garm is the younger, weaker, jealous one, and Sumner is the older, stronger, smarter one. Sumner reigned over the eight realms, and for many years the land prospered under Sumner's guidance. Sumner's Tower had many portals in each realm so Sumner could travel easily throughout his land. Garm was tired of living in his brothers footsteps, so he secretly studied the whereabouts of the mystical thirteen Runestones, that could be used to control evil demons from the Underworld. After years of study, he found the location of twelve of the thirteen Runestones, and retrieved them. One day, when Sumner was traveling the land away from his Tower, Garm used the twelve Runestones to summon the ancient demon Skorne from the Underworld. Lacking the power from the thirteenth Runestone, Skorne broke free of Garm's spell. Skorne crushed and killed Garm and locked his soul away in the Underworld. Sensing that something was wrong, Sumner returned to his Tower, only to find what horrifying things that had happened. The magic portals were being used to quickly transport Skorne's minions to the lands to bring about destruction. Using all his strength, Sumner sealed all of the portals shut, and faught back the demon Skorne. Even with his magnificant power, Skorne was no match for Sumner and his magical abilities. Skorne fled to an ancient temple, which he sealed with eight shards. These eight shards all together created a magical stained glass window that was the only entrance to his temple. Skorne called forth his eight most powerful minions and gave each of them a shard. Skorne then sent these minions, along with their legends of weaker minions, to each realm. He ordered them to guard their shard with their life. Sumner was exhausted and didn't have the strength to continue the quest to defeat Skorne, so with his last of his power, he summoned the strongest hero from each realm. To these eight heroes, he entrusted the tasks of defeating Skorne's minions, killing Skorne, banishing him to the Underworld for eternity, and confronting Garm. The fate of the land is in their hands. =============================== B. The Basics =============================== Here I'm going to explain the everyday obvious parts of GDL. ------------------------------- 1. Switches ------------------------------- There are three kinds of switches. There are switches on the ground, levers on walls, and targets on walls. Unactivated switches are colored red, and activated ones are colored green. To activate a switch on the ground, simply run over it, and you will activate it. To activate a levers on walls, stand next to it, and your character will pull down the lever. To activate targets, you must shoot them using the (-A-) Button or the (-X-) Button. Targets look exactly like bullseyes. ------------------------------- 2. Elevators/Lifts ------------------------------- Elevators and lifts are used to transport someone from one floor to another, obviously. Many elevators are well hidden so it may take some SERIOUS effort to find them. Some lifts have multi-colored arrows pointing inward to easily indicate where you need to stand to activate it. For some elevators/lifts, you may have to stand on them for a few seconds before they finally activate, so be patient! Hidden elevators/lifts often lead to an important item or area in a level, so if you're lucky enough to find one, be on the lookout for a rare or important item. ------------------------------- 3. Miscellaneous ------------------------------- If you press the A Button (-A-) you will accept any message and/or proceed to the next screen. If you press the B Button (-B-) you will cancel any message and/or retreat to the previous screen. If you run over any item, (ex. Treasure, Fire Amulet, Coin) you will pick it up. Key Rings contain two to three keys. You can have no more than nine keys on your keyring and no more than nine potions on your belt. You must have a key to open a chest or a locked door. If you shoot brown barrels, there may be something or someone inside. If you shoot a green barrel, a small cloud of poison gas will come out, and won't go away for a while. If you have a gas mask on, poison gas will be ineffective, and you can freely walk through poison gas. If you shoot red barrels, a small explosion will explode from the barrel. =============================== C. Press start on your controller, and depending on which port your controller is in, you'll see the texts "New" and "Load" in the center of your column. If you wish to start a whole new game, select "New". If you wish to continue a current game, select "Load". -If you selected "New", your column will go to a screen that has the class of the character, the stats of the character, and a picture of the character. (See the Character Section for more details) Cycle through the eight different types of characters by pressing the (LHJ) left or right. To cycle through the colors for each class, press up or down on the (LHJ). When you have found the right class and color that you wish to use in your journey, press the A button, and you can begin naming your character. Press up or down on the (LHJ) to scroll through the letters and numbers to create a name for your character. Once you have created the name you wish to use, press the A button. If you did not enter any name, and immediately pressed the A button, your name will be TRAVIS... For some odd reason... After you press the A button, you will hear a deep voice say "Welcome [your color] [your class]!" (ex. "Welcome Yellow Valkyrie!") After that, you will be transported to Sumner's Tower. -If you selected "Load", your column will show the names of currently saved games on your XBOX Hard Disk. Select your name, and your column will show the class of your character, the stats of your character, a picture of your character, and the name of your character. Meanwhile, you hear a deep voice say "Welcome back [your color] [your class]!" (ex. "Welcome back Red Archer!") After that, you will be transported to Sumner's Tower. If you selected "Options" at the main screen, there are four options you can chooses from: Audio, Game Options, Compass, and Controls. -If you want to adjust the Audio features, select Audio. Here you will be able to increase and decrease the sound and music levels. You can also switch which sound you use, Stereo or Mono. -If you want to play around with GDL's gameplay features, select Game Options. Here you can select the difficulty of your enemies, and toggle the friendly fire. (hehehe =)) You can select three different types of friendly fire: Normal, the default setting, means that friendly fire is OFF. No harm can be dont to players by other players. Shots Stun Other Players means that when a player shoots another player, the player that got shot will freeze for a moment. Shots Hurt Other Players means that when a player shoots another player, it hurts them, and causes damage. In other words this means that friendly fire is ON. -If you want to toggle the Compass in the lower left hand corner on and off, select Compass, and select it on or off. -If you want to see the Controls, select Controls. Here you can select the style of Controls. You can also toggle the Auto Aim and Auto Attack on and off. And, you can select the intensity of rumbling your controller will do. ------------------------------- =============================== III) PLAYING THE GAME =============================== ------------------------------- Areas A. Objectives B. Sumner's Hints C. Options Screen D. Heads Up Display (HUD) E. Portals =============================== A. Objectives =============================== You may think that a game like GDL has no objective, except to kill anything in your way, but it does. =) The whole point of the game is to go around to each realm and kill the boss to get their shard. Along the way you find different colored crystals to open other realms. Also, you keep an eye out for those mystical Runestones. If you see one in a level, don't make it your life's pursuit to get it, you won't need it until later. If you don't get it when you exit a level, don't worry about it. You can always come back. You can also find rare Items of Legend to help you defeat those bosses to get the shards easier. Also, you must find Golden Icons to open up other parts of Sumner's Tower. Once you have killed all eight bosses (with or without the Items of Legend) of the eight realms, the magical stained glass window will be restored. Stand in the light, and you will arrive in Skorne's Desecrated Temple, where you battle Skorne for the first time. Once you beat him, you must go back and retrieve the twelve Runestones. Once done, you can enter the circle of Runestones in front of Sumner's pedestal in Sumner's Tower, and you will be transported to the Underworld to defeat Skorne, yet again. Once you beat him, the Battle Grounds Realm will be open. Conquer that special Realm, and defeat Garm. After that, your conquest will be over, and you have beaten Gauntlet Dark Legacy. Tough task? Nah. Not with me by your side at least. =) Good Luck, and Good Huntin'. =============================== B. Sumner's Hints =============================== Once you reach Sumner's Tower, you start right in front of Sumner, and he'll start talking about God knows what. Anyways, if you go up and stand next to him for about two seconds, a menu will pop up. The options here are: General Hints, Guardians, Items Of Legend, and Runestones. -If you select General Hints, Sumner will tell you general every day hints, like "Kill Archers and Bomb Throwers first" or "Don't eat poison fruit". The obvious. -If you select Guardians, Sumner will tell you about an enemy boss and how to beat him. (Usually which Item of Legend to use) -If you select Items of Legend, Sumner will tell you about an Item of Legend, where its located, and the boss its used against. -If you select Runestones, Sumner will tell you about the next Runestone to be found, what Realm its in, and what level its in. =============================== C. Options Screen =============================== At any time during the game, except while playing a level, you can press (Sta), and a menu will pop up. These are the options: Settings, Manage Character, Shop, Inventory, and Quit Game. -If you select Settings, you will see the options Audio, Compass, and Controls. If you want to adjust the Audio features, select Audio. Here you will be able to increase and decrease the sound and music levels. You can also switch which sound you use, Stereo or Mono. If you want to toggle the Compass in the lower left hand corner on and off, select Compass, and select it on or off. If you want to see the Controls, select Controls. Here you can select the style of Controls. You can also toggle the Auto Aim and Auto Attack on and off. And, you can select the intensity of rumbling your controller will do. -If you select Manage Character, you will return to the four column screen, and you will see the options Save, Change, Load, Quit, and Done If you want to save your game, select Save, and you will save your game to the XBOX Hard Disk. If you want to change your character in any way, (Color, Class, etc.) Go to Manage Character. Here you can change your color and class. If you change your class to ANY different one, will start a whole new game, and begin at level one. If you only change your color, you will not start a new game. If you want to load a previously saved game, select Load. You will then enter a list of saved games, labeled by the character's name. Select one, and you will begin back in Sumner's Tower. If you want to totally quit your game, and go back to the main screen at the beginning of the game, select Quit Game, and you will do so. This will not automatically save your game. If you select Done, you will return back to Sumner's Tower. -If you select Shop, you will return to the four column screen and start shopping. Use (DPu) and (DPd) to scroll through all the items, and press (-A-) to buy it. See Shopping in the Items Section for more details. -If you select Inventory, you will return to the four column screen, and in your column, you will see how many crystals you have for each of the eight realms, how many shards you have from the eight realms, the number of Golden Icons you have, and any Items of Legend that you may have. Once you're done, press (-A-) and you will return to Sumner's Tower. -If you select Quit Game, you will totally quit your game, and return to the main screen at the beginning of the game. This will not automatically save your game. =============================== D. Heads Up Display (HUD) =============================== At the very bottom is your Heads Up Display, or HUD. Your HUD provides necessary information about your character. There are four sections in the HUD. (One for each possible player) Depending on which port your controller is in, your HUD information will be in a section of the HUD. (If your controller is in port 3, your HUD information will be in the third slot from the left. If your controller is in port 2, your HUD information will be in the second slot from the left, etc.) In your section, you will see lots of information regarding your character. The background color of your section of the HUD will vary depending on the color of your character. (If the color of your character is green, the background of your section of the HUD will be green, likewise with blue, yellow, and red.) The name of your character will be right in the middle in all bold and capitolized text. Above that is your Turbo Meter. When your Turbo Meter is full, the whole bar will be red and flashing pink. When your Turbo Meter is showing any red at all, your Turbo Meter is half-full. Above your Turbo Meter are your Runestones. One little gray square with a colored dot in the middle above your Turbo Meter resembles one Runestone. If you have the 13th Runestone, it will be directly to the left of your character's name, between your keys, and your Gold. To the left of your Turbo Meter are your keys. You can have up to nine keys at any given time. To the right of your Turbo Meter are your Potions. You can have up to nine potions at any given time. Inbetween the name of your character and your Turbo Meter is your Experience Level. Every time you gain an Experience Level, a scroll will appear over your character in the actual game, saying "level [your new experience level] experience." (ex. level 65 experience) Also, a deep voice says "[your color] [your class] has gained a level." (ex. "Blue Knight has gained a level.") At the lower left part of your section of the HUD, is your Treasure. Picking up Treasure increases this amount, and buying items at the shop decreases it. At the lower right part of your section of the HUD, is your Health. Eating or buying Food increases this amount, and being attacked by enemies or eating Poison Food will decrease this amount. Whenever you pick up any item, a picture of the item you picked up will slide up from the bottom of your section of the HUD, and cover it. After a second or two, it will go away, and your original HUD display will be restored. =============================== E. Portals =============================== Portals are the little round things that you see in each Realm in Sumner's Tower. These circular pads transport you to different parts of the land. Portals that are in a certain Realm in Sumner's Tower will transport you to a Level that corresponds with the Realm that you're in. For example, If you're in the Forest Realm, when you enter a portal, you're obviously going to enter a level that has something to do with the Forest Realm. Active Portals are constantly glowing. The Portal used to exit a level is always glowing, as well as the first Portal in a Realm in Sumner's Tower. When your character stands on an active Portal, a big beam will emerge from the Portal, and ascend towards the sky. After a few seconds, your character will turn white, and minimize in a spiral motion, and enter the Portal. Once a level is completed, the next level in the Realm in Sumner's Tower will be activated. Inactive Portals don't glow. They just sit there, waiting to be activated. Obviously, inactive Portals aren't accessible. ------------------------------- =============================== IV) YOUR CHARACTER =============================== ------------------------------- Areas A. Battle Strategies B. Gaining Levels =============================== A. Battle Strategies =============================== When in battle, always look for a way to destroy the enemy generators. This will prevent the creation of more enemies for you to kill. But, if you're trying to gain levels, what you might want to do is let them spawn enemies so you can kill them and get experience from them, especially if these enemies are advanced grunts. You'll get TONS of experience from these guys, plus it will be even easier if you have a Familiar along your side. Strafing is probably the best strategy that I know of. You can easily evade enemies, while at the same time, killing them. To strafe, press and hold (RiT) and on the (LHJ) move in the direction you want to go. You will walk one way, and face another. This is especially effective on bosses. When bosses throw some kind of item at you, you can easily and swiftly evade the attack, and at the same time, kill the boss. For example, the Yeti likes to throw little ice chunks at you. Mastering the strafing technique can easily solve that problem. The Yeti does chuck the chunks of ice pretty fast, but you should have enough time to evade them. If you haven't mastered the strafing technique yet, you can always Guard. Guarding against bosses is very helpful. Since bosses' attacks inflict VERY much damage, making those attacks almost ineffective by guarding, is a very beneficial strategy. Guarding is one of the easiest strategies to master, so it won't be a tough task to get used to it. Using this technique can save thousands of Gold. When you finish off a boss, they give out a pretty hefty ransom, along with a Shard. Most likely, you'll use most of that money buying health. If you master the guarding technique, it may take a little longer to kill the Boss, but the Boss wouldn't have inflicted that much damage, so you can use the money that you would be spending on health, to spend on more important things like Attribute Points, or Special Items. When you're not facing a boss, strafing is still an effective strategy. Run side to side firing in the direction of an enemy, and you'll end up killing a whole bunch more enemies. The enemies will try to follow you back and forth, therefore making it take longer for them to walk to you, giving you more time to kill them. Think about it: If you just sit there and fire at the enemies, the enemies will only have to walk in a straight line towards you. If you strafe from side to side, the enemies will walk back and forth trying to catch you, and end up walking in a zig-zag pattern, therefore taking longer to reach you to try to kill you, and it will give you more time to kill them. When you have enemies coming straight for you from their generators, the obvious thing to do, is to kill them, before they grow too large in numbers. There are multiple ways to do so, and i'm going to state them in order of which you should do first, to which you should do last. First is your Turbo Attack. If you've got it full and flashing pink, use it, and point it in the direction of the enemies' generators. If you only have a half-full Turbo Meter DON'T USE IT! That would definitely be wasting valuable Turbo Energy. What you'll want to do if you don't have a full Turbo Meter is throw a Potion. Throw a Potion inbetween the enemy closest to you, and the enemies' generators. If your Magic is strong enough, it will most likely kill all enemies in your way, along with their generators. If you do not have a full Turbo Meter, and you have no Potions, just start hacking away at them. If you're above level 30, this will be a relatively easy task. Your Familiar will pack quite a punch at the enemies. If you don't feel like wasting a Potion, or your Turbo Energy, just start hacking away at them. You'll still kill them very easily. Another way to do this is to Charge at them. This will very easily kill your enemies, especially if your character is a Warrior, Minotaur, Dwarf, or Ogre. When you have enemies on all sides, attacking you rapidly, you obviously want to make them stop killing you, and the only way to do so is to kill them. There are multiple ways to do so, and i'm going to state them in order of which you should do first, to which you should do last. First is definitely your Turbo Attack. If you've got it full and flashing pink, use it, and point it in the direction of the enemies' generators. If you only have it half-full use it, and at least wipe out the guys around you, then you can run for safety. If your Turbo Meter is totally drained, then resort to Magic. If you have a potion or two use it to at least kill the weaker enemies and knock down the strong ones. Once everybody is dead, or knocked down, run for safety. Or, you can use your Potion as a shield and plow your way through your enemies into a safer area. If your Turbo Meter is empty, and you have no potions, try this: Start attacking using (-A-), then start attacking using (-X-). If done correctly, your character will do some kind of combo, and kill all foes nearby. The only character I have used, and done this with, is the Knight. The Knight will kneel down and little spines will come out all around him. I call this the Shock Circle. The color of the Shock Circle will depend upon the color of your character. If it didn't work, try it again. You'll get it sooner or later. This combo is almost exactly like using your half-full Turbo Attack. Once you master this combo, your chances of dying in a situation like that will start to become VERY slim. Using this strategy is also very effective against Golems and Generals. Going right up to them and using this technique will make them MUCH easier to kill. Only two or three of these combo attacks will KILL them. It takes around 15 regular attacks to do so, so if you're in a time rush, this is the technique to use. When your character uses this technique, it will most likely knock down the enemy General or Golem, giving you some extra time to give them a good few extra whacks. When you're battling a Gargoyle, the best advice I have for you is to TAKE COVER! Take cover behind a stack of boxes, a wall, or anything you can find that does not crumble when hit. Every once in a while peek out the side and shoot the Gargoyle a couple times. Eventually, you'll kill it. If you try the "half-full Turbo Attack" combo you'll lose very much life, very fast. If you use this technique, the Gargoyle will not fall down, giving you extra time to attack him. This is basically suicide. If you get up right next to the Gargoyle, most likely, it'll use its breath attack, dealing out about 40 damage or so. This can really add up. I recommend using the strafing technique also. You'll probably get hit a few times by its attacks, but you'll kill him much faster than taking cover. The Gargoyle's main attack, shooting some sort of elemental ball, will do around 23 or 25 damage. =============================== B. Gaining Levels =============================== When your character fights, each time he hits an enemy gives him a small amount of experience. Every time your character gains a level, it takes more experience to gain another level, than it did the previous time. For example, If your character is at level 20, it may take him about 500 experience points for him to gain a level. Once he reaches level 21, It will take AT LEAST another 501 experience points for him to gain another level. Reasonably, this would take about 510-530 experience points. The more difficult the enemy your killing is, the more experience you will get for each hit. Every time your character gains a level, he gains 5 attribute points for each attribute, and 100 health is added to his Max Health. To help boost your attribute points faster, you can buy them at the Shop. (10 attribute points for any attribute costs 1000 Gold.) These are the attributes: -Strength: Strength is obviously, your character's actual strength. Strength determines how much damage your character will inflict on enemies, or your teammates. (If your the mean, evil, nasty, dishonorable type that likes to kill your teammates when friendly fire is on...lmao) The higher your Strength, the easier it is to kill enemies and/or teammates. Classes that excel in this field are the Warrior, Minotaur, Dwarf, and Ogre. -Armor: Armor is yet another obvious one. Armor helps determine how much damage your enemies or teammates inflict on you. The higher your Armor, the longer it takes your enemies and/or teammates to kill you. Classes that excel in this field are the Valkyrie, Falconess, Knight, and Unicorn. -Magic: To put it simply, Magic is Potion power. If you have high attribute points in Magic, that means that your Potions will inflict more damage, and when you use them regularly, ( pressing (-Y-)) the wave of the Potion will go farther. The higher your Magic, the easier it is to kill enemies and/or teammates with Potions. Classes that excel in this field are the Wizard, Jackal, Sorceress, and Medusa. -Speed: Speed is also a simple one to figure out. How fast you run is basically all it is. But, this attribute can be alot more helpful than you may think. When your character has low health and is facing a bunch of enemies, or a Gargoyle or something, the faster he can run away from them, the better! The higher your Speed, the easier it is to evade enemies when you need to. Classes that excel in this field are the Archer, Tigress, Jester, and Hyena. Every 10 Experience Levels your character gains, he changes in appearance. Whether its a new garment, an upgraded weapon, or he just looks bigger and badder, he changes every 10 levels. At level 10, 20, 40, 60, and 80, your character gets new titles, depending on his class. For example, a level 60-79 Knight; His title would be a Champion. A level 10-19 Warrior; His title would be a Fighter. (See Character Chapter for more details) At Experience Level 25, your character earns a Special Ability. If your character is level 25-49, his Magic will be able to not only kill Death, kill enemies, but it will also significantly help your conquest. For example, if a level 31 Tigress uses her Magic, it will make secret/hidden walls glow, so you can easily identify where they are! If you are a level 48 Dwarf, using your Magic can turn Junk into Silver! At Experience Level 50, your character earns an Upgraded Special Ability. Yet again, if your character is level 50-99, not only will their Magic have the ability to eliminate Death, kill enemies, but it can significantly help your conquest. For example, if that same level 31 Tigress became a level 51 Tigress, her Magic can now COMPLETELY destroy secret or hidden walls. And, if that same level 48 Dwarf became a level 68 Dwarf, he can now turn Junk into Gold! Once your character reaches level 75 or higher, they still have their Upgraded Special Ability, but they get a new feature. Their Magic not only makes Death go away, kills enemies, and has the Upgraded Special Ability, but, it can now heal themselves, as well as other players! Late in the game, when your character is around level 85 or so, this feature can easily be the line between life and death of your character, as well as other players. (Check the Character Chapter for more information on Special Abilities) At Experience Level 30, your character will earn a Familiar, a little flying companion that flies above you. This Familiar is almost exactly like the Pheonix Familiar, except for one thing, you have unlimited time with it. It will fly where you walk, fire when you fire, and fly faster when you run. No matter what, it will always stay by your side. Well isn't that comforting... Anyways when your character gets a Familiar, you'll notice fighting bosses and large groups of enemies will be MUCH easier, since the Familiar virtually doubles your rate of fire. It fires a magical little shot along with your character. Whats cool about it, is that it can shoot over walls! For example, in the Courtyard in the Castle Realm, when you're in the garden, you're character's attack cannot go over the shrubs, but your Familiar's attack can! It's really nifty if you like being the sniper type, where you can attack them, but they can't attack you. But unfortunately, your Familiar's attacks will just go right over Ankle Biters, so you can't 'snipe' Ankle Biters. At Experience Level 80, your Familiar will become twice as big, twice as strong, and ten times as helpful. Its attack can easily take out an enemy in one shot. When you're that late in the game its VERY beneficial. Plus, it just looks awesome too. =) ------------------------------- =============================== V. THE CLASSES =============================== ------------------------------- *Note* Every character, except Sumner, starts out at Level 1, has 500 Health, has no keys or potions, has 0 gold, and levels or realms are locked, and inaccessible. Sumner, however, starts out at Level 99, has 9999 Health, 9 Keys, 9 Potions, 5000 Gold, and all levels and realms are unlocked and accessible. (I, personally, have not yet confirmed this, but I have heard this from a very credible source.) Treasure F. Shopping G. Skorne's Special Items =============================== A. Common Items =============================== This section is dedicated to the explanations of 4 of the most helpful items in the game. Potions, Keys, Scrolls, and Barrels. *Note* Bombs appear VERY often in barrels and chests. Before using a key to open a chest or shooting a barrel, using X-Ray Glasses to see which chests and barrels you want to open is a wise decision. ------------------------------- 1) Potions ------------------------------- Potions are a very important detail in GDL. It is the only item, besides Anti-Death, that can eliminate Death. Potions are also a very strategic way of killing your enemies. In the midst of a battle you can use, throw, or shield yourself with a potion. All three of these techniques are very helpful. If Death is nearby, and you have no Anti-Death, using your Potion is your best bet in getting rid of him. If you can see a big group of enemies right in front of you, throw a Potion right in the middle of their group, and you'll most likely kill all of them. When you have enemies attacking you on all sides, or you just feel like kickin' some major undead ass, using a Potion as a shield is the way you want to go. Potions can be bought at the Shop for 250 Gold. Potions come in 4 different elements: Fire, Lightning, Acid, and Light. Here is a small chart of the colors of each of the four potions, and what element they are. Color | Element -------+---------- Blue | Lightning Green | Acid Red | Fire Yellow | Light Potions have yet another use, but this time, its class specific. Below is another small chart of each class' special uses for Potions. Class | (25) Potion Special Use | (50) Potion Special Use -------------+---------------------------+--------------------------- Wizard | Poison Fruit into Apple | Poison Meat into Drumstick Sorceress | Poison Fruit into Apple | Poison Meat into Drumstick Warrior | Junk into Silver | Junk into Gold Dwarf | Junk into Silver | Junk into Gold Valkyrie | Traps stunned 10 seconds | Destroys Traps Knight | Traps stunned 10 seconds | Destroys Traps Archer | Secret Walls Flash | Destroys Secret Walls Jester | Secret Walls Flash | Destroys Secret Walls Sumner | Poison Food into Apple | Poison Meat into Drumstick ------------------------------- 2) Keys ------------------------------- Keys may be the most important item in the game. They have two main uses. Unlocking doors, and unlocking chests. Locked doors appear pretty often in GDL, and without a key, you cannot pass through them. Obviously, locked doors look like a regular gate with a keyhole in the middle. You don't need to do anything special to use a key. If you want to pass through a locked door, just run up to it, and your character will automatically unlock it. Locked Chests appear VERY often in GDL. There are probably at least 10 or more locked chests in each level.(Excluding boss levels.) They often contain very valuable items and/or power-ups, but they can also contain destructive items, like Poison Food, Bombs, or even Death! You must have a key to open a locked chest, obviously. Locked chests look like a small treasure chest lying on the ground with a small keyhole on the lock. To open a locked chest, simply run up to it, and if you have a key, your character will automatically unlock and open it. Keys can be bought at the Shop for 100 Gold. ------------------------------- 3) Scrolls ------------------------------- Scrolls are also a very important item. They give out VERY helpful clues about the level, Such as, "Death lurks ahead" or "You will need to hit 5 switches before getting this Runestone" or "Only a fool would face the Lich without the Good Book". Scrolls can be found lying around out in the open or inside barrels. To pick up and read a scroll, run up to it, and the message will appear on the middle of the screen. When the message is on the middle of the screen, the game will be paused, so take your time reading and interpreting the message. Before you press (-A-) to continue on with your game, make sure you know what the scroll is talking about, and prepare yourself for it. Scrolls never lie. If a scroll says "Death lurks ahead" then obviously, theres a Death ahead, so get out your Anti-Death or have your Potions ready for use. If one says "Heroes long ago were very wealthy" that means that around some dead guys, theres a bunch of money. You got to put 2 and 2 together folks! =) ------------------------------- 4) Barrels ------------------------------- Barrels aren't really a type of item, but they are definitely a common and important object in GDL. They appear VERY, VERY often, and they can contain items. To open a barrel, simply shoot it, and the wooden sides will crumble to the ground and reveal whats inside, if anything. Barrels come in three different colors: Brown, red, and green. Brown barrels are your normal barrels. When you shoot them, you either get an item, or you just leave a pile of sticks on the ground. Green and red barrels, however, are a different story. When you shoot a green barrel, a small intoxicative cloud of green gas explodes out of it, poisoning all food around it, and your character if he walks in it. If your character has a Gas Mask on, the green gas isineffective, and your character will be able to walk through the green gas like it was never there. If there as any type of Food in the cloud of poison gas, then it will spoil it and turn it bad. If it was any type of fruit, it will turn it into Poison Fruit, and if it was any type of meat, it will turn it into Poison Meat. If you shoot a red barrel, a fairly large explosion will burst out of the barrel, hurting and knocking down all characters around it. This includes enemies, your character, and your teammates. Any item at all (this includes Treasure, Food, Special Items, etc.) that is in the explosion will be turned to ashes, and is unusable. Only shoot green and red barrels from a distance, if you want to play it safe. =============================== B. Food (Health) =============================== There are 12 different types of food that you will find in your journey. They can be both good and bad, so watch what you eat. Like in Gauntlet Legends, meat will give more health than fruit. Below are the 12 types of food, and how much health they provide for your character. 2 Cherries can be bought at the Shop for 50 Gold, and a Drumstick can be bought at the Shop for 250 Gold. Type of Food | Health -------------+--------- Poison Meat |-100 Poison Fruit |-50 Cherry | 10 Apple | 25 Banana | 50 Pineapple | 75 Watermelon | 75 Drumstick | 100 Steak | 125 Ribs | 150 Ham | 200 Full Meal | 500 =============================== C. Special Items (Power-Ups) =============================== There are 32 Special Items in GDL. To access your Item List, press (DPu). To scroll through each item, press (DPl) or (DPr). While in the Item List, press (DPu) on an item to turn it on, and then (DPu) again to turn it off. To exit the Item List, press (DPd). *Note* There is a glitch in GDL. This is kind of hard to explain, so kind of imagine everything in your mind if you don't understand it the first time. Anyways, once you turn on your XBOX console, and load your character, theres something funky about the Item List. When you access your Item List, everything will be gone! You can scroll through the Item List back and forth, but there will be no item at all. Don't worry though, you're items have just gone 'invisible'. All you have to do is act like you want to turn on an item. So, once in your Item List, press (DPu) like you were going to turn on an item, and the item will magically reappear! Cool isn't it? Unfortunately, this will only work for the item you actually turned on, so you will have to go through your whole entire inventory of items, and do this. Keep scrolling through each 'invisible' item and turn them on, until you reach a point where you have gone in a complete circle with your items. There will be no more blank spaces throughout your whole Item List. This involves only that character, so if you plan on playing GDL with a friend too, your friend must do the same with his character. Once you turn off your XBOX console, the Item List will become 'invisible' again, so you'll have to keep doing it over and over and over. =( Below is a list of all the Special Items, a description of them, their cost, and what they look like in a level. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- -3-Way Shot Buy: 550 Sell: 412 Appearance: A wooden circle with 3 arrows. Your character will shoot 3 shots instead of 1. Using this on bosses is one VERY good strategy. Strafing back and forth with 3-Way Shot on can do major damage. Also use this on a large group of enemies. -5-Way Shot Buy: N/A Sell: N/A Appearance: A wooden circle with 5 arrows. Your character will shoot 5 shots instead of 1. Using this on bosses is yet another very effective strategy. Since this is an EXTREMELY rare item, you may only want to use it during big bosses, like Skorne, or Garm. -Acid Amulet Buy: 350 Sell: 262 Appearance: A circle with a cloud of acid. Your character's attacks will be strengthened with acid, and your character's weapon will glow green. Using this against tough enemies like Gargoyles or bosses is the best strategy for this item. -Acid Breath Buy: 350 Sell: 262 Appearance: A cloud of acid. Instead of a regular attack, your character will breath out a massive line of green acid that either kills, or knocks down enemies. This item is EXTREMELY effective against large groups of enemies. Never use this item against stage bosses (bosses that stay in on place at the top of the screen). They will SLAUGHTER you with their close range attacks. If you're desperate, use this against Gargoyles, but watch out for their breath attack too. -Anti-Death Buy: 750 Sell: 562 Appearance: A Golden Halo Possibly one of the most life-saving Special Item there is. When activated, both kinds of Death will try to float away from you, rather than try to get close to you. This is because you can drain health or experience from him! If its a red Death, you can steal 100 health from him, and if its a black Death, you can steal over 1 Experience Level from him! This is an effective way to keep your health, and gain levels. -Fire Amulet Buy: 350 Sell: 262 Appearance: A circle with a cloud of fire. Your character's attacks will be strengthened with fire, and your character's weapon will glow red. Using this against tough enemies like Gargoyles or bosses is the best strategy for this item. -Fire Breath Buy: 350 Sell: 262 Appearance: A cloud of fire. Instead of a regular attack, your character will breath out a massive line of red fire that either kills, or knocks down enemies. This item is EXTREMELY effective against large groups of enemies. Never use this item against stage bosses (bosses that stay in on place at the top of the screen). They will SLAUGHTER you with their close range attacks. If you're desperate, use this against Gargoyles, but watch out for their breath attack too. -Fire Shield Buy: 425 Sell: 319 Appearance: A circular shield with fire. This shield can help you GREATLY when battling a large group of enemies. Just turn it on, and plow the road! A huge semi-circle of fire will cover your whole front side. Any enemy that touches this lightning will immediately DIE! Use this on bosses and Gargoyles too. The shield will block all elemental balls that may hit you. -Gas Mask Buy: 650 Sell: 487 Appearance: A brown gas mask. This Gas Mask can save you tons of health. A Gas Mask will prevent your character from losing health when he walks through a cloud of poison gas. In Realms like the Province and the sky, there are tons of poison gas barrels everywhere, so a Gas Mask will be extremely helpful in these two Realms. -Growth Buy: 300 Sell: 225 Appearance: An purple spiral bottle. Growth makes your character grow twice as tall! This also means that your character will have mcuh better defensive capabilities. If your character is a lvl 99 Legend, he will have what I call 'perma-growth', or permanent Growth. -Hand of Death Buy: 1000 Sell: 750 Appearance: A green hand with a finger. This item is very strategic. Whenever you engage an enemy in hand-to-hand combat, the damage that the enemy inflicts on you will be re-inflicted on him! So, when he hurts you, you take that damage, and deal it right back to him! -Health Vampire Buy: 1000 Sell: 750 Appearance: A locket with a heart on it. This is exactly like the Hand of Death except when an enemy hurts you, you regain the health that you lost. So basically, the enemies' attacks do absolutely nothing. -Invisibility Buy: 600 Sell: 450 Appearance: A translucent blue crystal. Your character becomes translucent on your TV screen, and totally invisible to the enemies. Use this when you are trapped by enemies, so you can easily and covertly escape to safety. Invisibility has no effect against bosses. -Invulnerability Buy: 600 Sell: 450 Appearance: A white or gold metal cube. Your character becomes invulnerable to all attacks inflicted upon him. The damage does absolutely nothing. This DOES work against bosses, so use it wisely. Also use this when you are battling a large group of enemies to painlessly take them out, and clear the area. -Levitation Buy: 150 Sell: 112 Appearance: A pair of white feathered wings. Levitation enables your character to hover over annoying traps and ankle biters. This could save you tons of time and health when backtracking to find a Runestone or Legend Item. Places like the Castle Realm especially have alot of traps so make sure you have plenty of Levitation before entering. -Light Amulet Buy: 350 Sell: 262 Appearance: A circle with a yellow cloud. Your character's attacks will be strengthened with light, and your character's weapon will glow yellow. Using this against tough enemies like Gargoyles or bosses is the best strategy for this item. -Lightning Amulet Buy: 350 Sell: 262 Appearance: A circle with a lightning cloud. Your character's attacks will be strengthened with blue lightning, and your character's weapon will glow blue. Using this against tough enemies like Gargoyles or bosses is the best strategy for this item. -Lightning Breath Buy: 350 Sell: 262 Appearance: A clud of blue lightning Instead of a regular attack, your character will breath out a massive line of blue lightning that either kills, or knocks down enemies. This item is EXTREMELY effective against large groups of enemies. Never use this item against stage bosses (bosses that stay in on place at the top of the screen). They will SLAUGHTER you with their close range attacks. If you're desperate, use this against Gargoyles, but watch out for their breath attack too. -Lightning Shield Buy: 425 Sell: 319 Appearance: A shield with blue lightning. This shield can help you GREATLY when battling a large group of enemies. Just turn it on, and plow the road! A huge semi-circle of lightning will cover your whole front side. Any enemy that touches this lightning will immediately DIE! Use this on bosses and Gargoyles too. The shield will block all elemental balls that may hit you. -Mikey Decoy Buy: 1000 Sell: 750 Appearance: A glowing jack-o-lantern. This is one weird Special Item. This tall wobbly guy will distract enemies to attack it, and not your character. He'll last for a good 15 seconds or so, which will give you enough time to clear out a whole flock of enemies that are stupid enough to attack Mikey, and not your character. -Pheonix Familiar Buy: 450 Sell: 337 Appearance: A magical glowing gold eagle. The Pheonix Familiar is almost exactly like a lvl 80 Familiar to any normal character. Its strength is phenominal and it really packs quite a punch against bosses and Gargoyles. If your character aleady has a Familiar, then the Pheonix Familiar will just be another addition. The two birds will fly side by side. The Pheonix's attack is a magical fire ball. -Pojo Buy: N/A Sell: N/A Appearance: A glowing egg breaking in half. Possible the most FUN Special item in GDL! Your character immediately turns into the tiny legendary chicken named Pojo! It would take 3 Pojo's to equal the size of your regular character's size! Pojo's attack is exactly like the Wizard's Familiar. It shoots a magical fire ball at the enemies. Plus, your character's Familiar will still hover over Pojo, giving it more firepower. -Rapid Fire Buy: 450 Sell: 337 Appearance: A purple cloud with white rings. Your character's attacks will be over twice as fast, plus your character will be a little faster when running. Use this when battling bosses and you'll be on your way to easy victory. The bosses won't be able to attack you, plus you'll be able to attack them more! Also use this when taking out a long line of enemies along with their generators. -Reflective Armor Buy: 400 Sell: 300 Appearance: A metal shield. When an advanced grunt or boss shoots some kind of elemental ball at you, having this on will reflect the elemental ball right back at the enemy that fired it at you. This DOES work against bosses, so use it to your advantage. You will inflict damage on your enemy, and at the same time save your health! -Reflective Shot Buy: N/A Sell: N/A Appearance: A crooked steel arrow. When your character shoots at something and misses, it'll bounce right off the wall! This is an excellent way to be a 'sniper'. When theres a big group of guys on the other side of a wall, shoot at a wall perpendicular to the wall between your character and the enemies. You can attack them, but they can't attack you. -Shrink Enemies Buy: N/A Sell: N/A Appearance: A skrinking spiral bottle. Your enemies will be smaller than you! This includes Gargoyles, Golems, Generals, and any type of grunt. Unfortunately, bosses can't be shrunk in size. =( When an enemy is shrunk, its armor/defense or whatever you call it, is decreased greatly. This is very helpful when you have to face a couple of Golems or Gargoyles at one time, and have low health. -Speed Buy: N/A Sell: N/A Appearance: A brown boot with wings. Your character will gain about 200 speed attribute points for a limited time. Even if your maxed in speed, you'll still gain about 200 points. This Special Item also comes with a small dose of Rapid Fire. Use this item when on bosses so when you strafe, you'll be much faster, plus you will fire faster. When you're getting your butt kicked by a large group of guys, its a good idea to put this on, and run for it. -Stop Time Buy: N/A Sell: N/A Appearance: An Hourglass. For about 15 seconds, everything will stop in its place, except your character. This includes all traps from poking you, all enemies from attacking you, and all generators from producing enemies. EXTREMELY helpful when you're getting your butt kicked by guys all around you. Just whip out your Stop Time, and kill them, MATRIX style. (hehehe) Unfortunately, Stop Time does NOT work against bosses... It would be pretty cool though... -Super Shot Buy: 400 Sell: 300 Appearance: A huge bow with a glowing arrow. This huge magical bow and arrow is a great way to take out a long line of enemies, as well as their generators. Every shot is much like a full and flashing pink Turbo Attack. Using this against bosses is extremely effective. This is also very effective when you're in a level like the Gates of the Underworld. There are enemies all around you firing their magical shot, and you can do nothing about it, except evade them. Heres a solution... -Thunder Hammer Buy: 500 Sell: 375 Appearance: A big floating Warhammer. When used, your character will pound the ground with this mighty hammer and a long stream of thunder shocks will emerge from it. This will kill all enemies nearby, or at least make them fall down. The Thunder Hammer is almost exactly like using your half-full Turbo Attack. -Turbo Buy: N/A Sell: N/A Appearance: Inverted Multi-colored Pyramid. This weird looking Power-up will totally replenish your Turbo Meter. A good idea is to wait until you have a full Turbo Meter, then use your full Turbo Attack. Then, flip through your Item List until you reach Turbo, then use it. ALL of your Turbo Meter will be replenished and flashing pink, so you can use it again. If you already have a full Turbo Meter, using Turbo will just be wasting. -X-Ray Glasses Buy: 650 Sell: 487 Appearance: Glasses with green lenses. To put it simply, your character can see inside chests and barrels. This item is VERY helpful when you are in a level like the Cavern in the Mountain Kingdom, you'll see TONS of chests EVERYWHERE! Many of them contain a bomb or Poison Fruit. With this item, you can easily scope out which chest you do and don't want to open. =============================== D. Quest Items =============================== These next 6 items are the bases of the game. They're what the game is based on, and basically, what you need to have in order to proceed with the game, so heres a complete guide on where these items are, how to get them, and how to use them. ------------------------------- 1) Runestones ------------------------------- As if you haven't already heard enough about Runestones, heres some more info on where you will find each Runestone. Every realm has at least one to two Runestones in it, so keep your eyes peeled for any sign of a Runestone as you fight through each level. ((R) = Runestone) (R) No.| Realm | Level -------+---------+------------ 1 | Province| Fields 2 | Province| Mausoleum 3 | Mountain| Valley 4 | Castle | Armory 5 | Sky | Docks 6 | Sky | Mothership 7 | Forest | Roots 8 | Desert | Ruins 9 | Ice | Camp 10 | Ice | Mine 11 | Dream | Nightmare 12 | Dream | Illusion 13 | Battle | Fortress (See Walkthrough Chapter for more details on the locations of the Runestones, and how to get them.) ------------------------------- 2) Shards ------------------------------- After you defeat a boss in the first eight realms, they will give a Shard, a mystical piece of the magical stained-glass window in Sumner's Tower. Collect all eight Shards to reassemble the window and enter Skorne's Desecrated Temple. Below is a list of the Shard numbers, which Realm they're in, and which boss you get it from. Shard No.| Realm | Boss ---------+------------+------------- 1 | Province | Lich 2 | Mountain | Dragon 3 | Castle | Chimera 4 | Sky | Plague Fiend 5 | Forest | Spider Queen 6 | Desert | Genie 7 | Ice | Yeti 8 | Dream | Wraith ------------------------------- 3) Golden Icons ------------------------------- After you defeat a Gargoyle in any level, it will give you a Golden Icon. A Golden Icon allows you to access different parts of Sumner's Tower. There are 3 different types of Golden Icons, eached used to open different parts of Sumner's Tower. You can also find Golden Icons in levels too, but its usually pretty hard to find and obtain them, especially in the harder levels., like the ones in the East Wing. Below describes each Golden Icon. ((GI) = Golden Icon) Type of (GI)| Gargoyle |Part They Open |No. Needed ------------+------------+---------------+----------- Fangs | Serpent | West Wing | 12 Feather | Eagle | East Wing | 20 Claw | Lion | Battle Grounds| 28 ------------------------------- 4) Legend Items ------------------------------- Legend Items make fighting bosses MUCH, MUCH easier. There is one Legend Item in each Realm, excluding the Battle Grounds, and the Underworld. These two Realms don't have an Item Legend for their boss. The Legend Item you find in a Realm, will never be the item you use against that Realm's boss, except for two: The Dream Realm, and the Desecrated Temple. The Legend Item that you find in these Realms WILL be used against that Realm's boss. Below is a list of the 9 Legend Items, what Realm and level they're found in, and what boss they're used against. Legend Item | Realm | Level | Boss -------------------------------+----------+----------+------------- Parchment of Fire | Province | Cemetary | Yeti Javelin of Blinding | Mountain | Cavern | Plague Fiend Ice Axe | Castle | Barracks | Dragon Book of Protection (Good Book)| Sky | Shipyard | Lich Scimitar of Decapitation | Forest | Branches | Chimera Toxic Bellows | Desert | Pyramid | Spider Queen Lamp of Dark Obstruction | Ice | Fissure | Genie Lantern of Revelation | Dream | Grounds | Wraith Soul Savior | Temple | Temple | Skorne (See Walkthrough Chapter for more details on the locations of the Legend Items and how to obtain them.) ------------------------------- 5) Crystals ------------------------------- For all of you people that used to play Gauntlet Legends for the Nintendo 64, Crystals are like Obelisks. Obelisks were used to unlock the other Realms, as do Crystals. On Gauntlet Legends, the storyline says that Skorne drained Sumner of all his power and locked them in Obelisks, that he hid in each Realm. On GDL, its different. Sumner is just exhausted as heck after fighting Skorne; Skorne never physically drained him from his power. To give Sumner more power to unlock the other Realms, you must collect Crystals that lie around each Realm. These Crystals come in eight different colors, each color for one of the eight realms. Below is a list of what color of Crystal will open what Realm, and how many Crystals it takes to do so. Color |Realm It Opens| No. Needed --------+--------------+------------ Orange | Province | 15 Red | Mountain | 100 Purple | Castle | 125 Blue | Sky | 150 Green | Forest | 175 Yellow | Desert | 200 White | Ice | 225 Black | Dream | 250 ------------------------------- 6) Coins ------------------------------- Like in Gauntlet Legends for N64, collecting Coins earns you Secret Characters. If you collect a certain amount of coins, a Secret Character will be unlocked and available for you to change into. In Gauntlet Legends, your character had to collect 50 Coins in order to earn the Secret Character, and there were 100 Coins total in the Treasure Room, so it was fairly easy to gain the Secret Character. However on GDL, you must collect 25 Coins in order to get the Secret Character. But, if theres only 1 player playing, then there will be only 25 Coins in the Treasure Room! If there are 2 players playing there will be 50, 3 players 75, and 4 players 100. The trick is, you must get ALL the Coins in the Treasure Room in order to earn the Secret Character! Its not every man for themselves, each Coin a player gets will be added together. If only 1 player plays, they must get all 25 Coins on the map, if 2 players play, they both have to collect a total of 50 Coins, etc. Its a whole team effort. The more players there are, the harder it is to collect all the Coins within the time limit. Below is a list of what Realm and Level each Treasure is in, and what Secret Character you will get if you collect all the coins. *Note* The Secret Character Sumner is only obtainable if the first eight Secret Characters (Jackal, Warrior, Falconess, Tigress, Sorceress, Ogre, Unicorn, and Hyena) are already obtained. ((TR) = Treasure Room) (TR) No.| Realm | Level | Secret Character --------+-----------+---------+------------------ 1 | Province | Town | Medusa 2 | Mountain | Peak | Minotaur 3 | Castle | Dungeon | Falconess 4 | Sky | Spire | Unicorn 5 | Forest | Tree | Tigress 6 | Desert | Temple | Jackal 7 | Ice | Docks | Ogre 8 | Dream | House | Hyena 9 | Battle | Towers | Sumner =============================== E. Treasure =============================== Treasure is the same thing as Gold. You can find Treasure lying around the levels, in chests, or in barrels. Treasure is used to buy Food, Power-ups, and/or Attribute Points at the Shop. You can find many different types of Treasure throughout the land. Below is a list of each type of Treasure, and their worth. *Note* Bronze, Silver, and Gold Coins are found after bosses are defeated. These Coins are completely different than the Coins used to unlock Secret Characters, so don't get those two confused. Type of Treasure | Worth ---------------------+------- Junk | 10 Silver | 100 Small Gold | 150 Small Sacks of Gems | 150 Gold | 200 Gold with Gems | 250 Sacks of Gold | 250 Gems | 300 Sacks of Gems | 300 Small Barrel of Gold | 500 Bronze Coin | 500 Large Barrel of Gold | 1000 Silver Coin | 1000 Gold Coin | 5000 =============================== F. Shopping =============================== To access the Shopping menu, press (Sta) at any time, except while playing a level, then go to Shop. Your screen will turn into the four column screen again, and you can begin shopping. Also, at the end of every level, you will automatically be in the four column screen, and you'll eventually reach the shopping menu, and you can start shopping. Ok, there are 33 total buyable items in GDL. These include Common Items (Potions, Keys, etc.), Health, Special Items, and Attribute Points. Below is a list of all the buyable items, and how much Gold it costs to buy them. To sell your items, press (-Y-). You will be given three-fourths of the items worth. Skorne's Special Items =============================== After you defeat Skorne in his Desecrated Temple, instead of giving out money, you get his 4 Special Items. These 4 Special Items are his Left Gauntlet, his Right Gauntlet, his Mask, and his Horns. You turn on these items as you regularly would in the Item List. In the Item List, the Left Gauntlet will be labeled as BossGauntletL, the Right Gauntlet will be labeled as BossGauntletR, the Mask will be labeled as BossMask, and the Horns will be labeled as BossHorns. Once you battle True Skorne or Garm, using Skorne's Special Items will be EXTREMELY effective. It seems like Garm has an endless amount of life, but every time you have the Left or Right Gauntlet turned on, your attacks will take away about a millimeter of health from Garm's health meter! This may not sound like alot, but attacks with an Amulet on don't even take away a tiny spec of Garm's health! This just shows the power and strength of Skorne's Items. Below are some brief descriptions of Skorne's 4 Special Items. -Left Gauntlet: Almost exactly like the Lightning Amulet, except its twice as powerful. Your character's attacks will be strengthened with Lightning, plus it'll do much, much more damage. -Right Gauntlet: Your Familiar's attacks will turn to acid and will deal out at least twice as much damage as it did before. Skorne's Right Gauntlet also gived you Rapid Fire. -Mask: Your character will look like Skorne himself! ...Except he's still the same size, he's not 100 feet tall... (darn!) Anyways this item is almost exactly like the Fire Breath, but yet again, its more than twice as powerful. -Horns: This item is EXACTLY like the Mask, except for one thing... You look more like a deer than you do Skorne! (Credits to GameFreak903 for these items and their descriptions!) ------------------------------- =============================== VII) ENEMIES =============================== ------------------------------- There are many different kinds of enemies in GDL. This chapter is dedicated to the explanations of all the different kinds of enemies, varying from Ankle Biters and Grunts, to Traps and Death. This is a full and complete guide on all the enemies of all the worlds in GDL. =============================== Areas ----- A. Regular Enemies 1) Generators 2) Ankle Biters 3) Grunts 4) Advanced Grunts 5) Others a) Suicide Bombers b) Archers and Bomb Throwers B. Rare Enemies 1) Generals 2) Golems 3) Gargoyles 4) Death C. Traps =============================== A. Regular Enemies =============================== When I say "Regular Enemies" i'm talking about your normal, common, everday enemies. You will see Regular Enemies VERY MANY times as you battle through each level. Generators, Ankle Biters, Grunts, Advanced Grunts, Suicide Bombers, and Archers and Bomb Throwers are all classified as Regular Enemies, because you see them sometimes hundreds of times per level. ------------------------------- 1) Generators ------------------------------- Generators are the backbone of Skorne's battalions. They generate, or create, enemies almost every second. Killing these should be your first priority when entering a level. Generators that spawn grunts are usually on walls, but can be found lying on the ground. All this depends on what Realm you're in, and what kind of enemy you're battling. Generators that spawn ankle biters are always on the ground. Generators that spawn advanced grunts are usually on walls, but again, they can be found lying on the ground. All this depends on what Realm you're in and what kind of enemy you're battling. The bigger the generator, the bigger and stronger the enemy that spawns from that generator will be. Generators NEVER spawn Suicide Bombers, Archers, or Bomb Throwers. These three enemies just sit around looking for a target to suicidingly kill, or someone to shoot at. Generators can be just about anything, from outhouses to piles of bones, so keep your eye out for something that is spawning enemies, and destroy it as soon as possible. ------------------------------- 2) Ankle Biters ------------------------------- Ankle Biters are those annoying, pesty little guys that try to bite at your ankles! They spawn from a generator on the ground. Ankle Biters never really try to attack you, they just walk around like their intoxicated, until you step in their path, then they'll start attacking you. I remember while I was playing a game once, I watched a Scorpion (Ankle Biter for the Mountain Kingdom) just go around in circles for almost a minute! lmao. Then I just went up and kicked it... Anyways if you have Levitation on, you can hover over Ankle Biters! You'll just fly over them like their not even there! But, on the con side, your Familiar's attacks will fly right over them too, so you can only kill them by walking on/kicking them, or shooting them with your character's original attack. When you kill an Ankle Biter, they give your character ------------------------------- 3) Grunts ------------------------------- Grunts are the most popular enemy you'll see throughout every level. They are those guys that walk up to you very slowly, and expect to kill you. They can come out of generators on a wall, or generators on the ground. When Grunts come out of their generator, they immediately start marching towards your character. A good Special Item to use when battling a large group of these is your 3-Way Shot. It can VERY easily take out a huge amount of Grunts in one area. Plus, unlike the Ankle Biters, your Familiar's attacks WILL hit Grunts. Using Potions is also an effective way to get rid of enemy Grunts. ------------------------------- 4) Advanced Grunts ------------------------------- Like regular Grunts, Advanced Grunts spawn from both generators on the walls, and generators on the ground. You won't see these guys until the third or fourth level in the Realm, so you won't have to deal with these guys until you're pretty far in the Realm. Advanced Grunts are the new guys that you'll see in videos. (ex. In the Cave in the Mountain Kingdom, at the very beginning, you will see a small movie, and it shows little Fire Demons jumping out of their generators.) These are the Advanced Grunts. Use the same techniques that you would use against regular Grunts, and you'll be in good shape when battling these overgrown mutts. ------------------------------- 5) Others ------------------------------- 'Others' are the guys that really don't fall under a certain category, just guys that are out there. a) Suicide Bombers =============================== Suicide Bombers' only objective is to kill you, in a very different manner than other enemies. They run at you with some sort of explosive, or chemical that will harm you. Suicide Bombers come in 2 forms: Poisonus and Explosive. Poisonus ones have a green barrel strapped to their back that contains harmful poisonus gas. Explosive ones have a red barrel strapped to their back that contains explosives. When a Poisonus Suicide Bomber runs up to you, and explodes, the explosion itself will cause damage, along with the poisonus gas that was inside the barrel. Same thing with the Explosive Suicide Bomber, except that when he explodes, there is damage from the initial explosion and from the explosion from the red barrel on his back. Poisonus Suicide Bomber's attacks don't do as much damage as a Explosion Suicide Bomber's, but the Poisonus Gas remains in a small cloud there for a few seconds, so it can easily make up for the damage difference. b) Archers and Bomb Throwers =============================== These guys can definitely qualify for the most ANNOYING enemies in the game. Out of nowhere, Archers and Bomb Throwers will start attacking you, whether they're right in front of you, on a ledge right above you, or just floating around in the middle of nowhere. (you'll see ALOT of this in the Dream World.) The easiest way to get rid of them is to throw a potion towards them, or use your Turbo Attack. You'll want to take out these guys first, they're attacks can easily add up to inflict a phenominal amount of damage. Archers and Bomb Throwers are usually in places where you normally can't attack them, or on narrow pieces of land. (ex. bridges, some ledges, etc.) Sometimes, they just sit there looking at you, dazed, so you can easily take them out. I stress the word 'Sometimes'... =============================== B. Rare Enemies =============================== Rare Enemies are the enemies that you'll only see once or twice per level, or even per Realm! Most of these enemies have very special characteristics. Generals, Golems, Gargoyles, and Death are all Rare Enemies. Check the Battle Strategies section for strategies on how to defeat these evil creatures. ------------------------------- 1) Generals ------------------------------- Generals aren't that tough. They're the guys that have some kind of big weapon, and tremendous speed. Once they see you, they'll charge right at you until they're close enough to where they can get a couple good slices on you. These guys will probably attack you alot, but the damage they inflict is very minimal. Generals don't have a health meter, so you'll have to keep shooting at them until they fall face down on the ground. After you kill a General, most of the time a little brown bag will pop up from his dead body, and will open up. Most of the time, there will be a small item like a Cherry or a Key, but sometimes the bag can contain a Steak or a Special Item. ------------------------------- 2) Golems ------------------------------- Golems are alot like Generals, except they don't stand around and wait for you. They 'hibernate'. (hehehe) All you'll see is a little rock, then when you come up to it, it'll spring out, and create a Golem that slowly marches toward you. The best way to kill a Golem is to simply shoot it with your character's attack, or your Turbo Attack. Using your Potions is very weak against Golems. Golems do have a health meter, so you can easily see your progress when battling a Golem. When you defeat a Golem, he'll act like he's being blown away by a tornado, then turn white, then disappear. Like the General, Golems when defeated will give of a small brown bag that contains an item of some sort. ------------------------------- 3) Gargoyles ------------------------------- Gargoyles are nothing like Generals or Golems, except for the fact that they have a health meter. Gargoyles are big, black, mean, and ugly! To kill a Gargoyle, using Potions is more effective than regularly shooting them. When a Gargoyle has been killed, it'll give away a brown bag, yet again, but this time you'll know whats inside, a Golden Icon. In the Province and Mountain Realms, the Gargoyles have a serpent's head indicating that when defeated, the brown bag will contain Golden Fangs. In the Castle, Sky, and Forest Realms, the Gargoyles will have an eagle's head, indicating that the brown bag will contain a Golden Feather. In the Desert, Ice, and Dream Realms, the Gargoyles will have a lion's head, indicating that the brown bag will contain a Golden Claw. Serpents shoot and breathe acid, eagles shoot and breathe lightning, and lions shoot and breathe fire. ------------------------------- 4) Death ------------------------------- Death, what can I say? He's a true classic. Death comes in two forms. Red Death and Black Death. Red Death will take away up to 100 Health from your character, then leave. If you have Anti-Death on, you can take 100 Health from him, then he'll leave. Black Death will take away at least 1 Experience Level from your Character, then he'll leave. If you have Anti-Death on, you can take away at least 1 Experience Level from HIM! This is a VERY good way to level up your character. To get rid of Death, you can use a Potion. The ONLY alternate way to gt rid of him is to shoot him 100 times, and believe me, this is alot harder than it sounds. Death is one reason why you should ALWAYS have a Potion or two on your belt. =============================== C. Traps =============================== Traps are those VERY annoying little things that pop up out of nowhere to do very minor damage to you, and to stall you. These things are especially annoying when you have totally cleared out a level, and are going back for a Runestone or something. Its just 'coincidence' that they pop up EVERY time you walk on them... Anyways, there are 2 types of Traps. Traps on walls, and Traps on the ground. Traps on the walls come in many different forms, from vines, to laser beams. Traps on the ground also come on many forms, like buzzsaws and metal spikes. All these Traps do no more than 10 damage, but if you keep running over them one after another, your health can decrease VERY rapidly. ------------------------------- =============================== VIII) The Worlds, Bosses, and Walkthrough =============================== ------------------------------- Here we go. The heart of this FAQ/Walkthrough... Throughout the walkthrough, I will be labeling each step of the way with a - (hyphen). Directions on how to get Quest Items such as Runestones or Legend Items are labeled with a * (asterisk). So, if you are wanting to know where the switch to a door is, you'll want to search for the texts marked with hyphens, and if you are looking to see how you get the Javelin of Blinding, you'll want to search for the texts marked with an asterisk. There will be no more than one set of asterisks per level, since there is no more than one Quest Item per level. =============================== Areas A. Upper Tower =============================== The Upper Tower is where you start out at the very beginning of the game. It contains the first two Realms in it: The Forsaken Province, and the Mountain Kingdom. ------------------------------- 1) Forsaken Province ------------------------------- Requirements: 15 Orange Crystals Boss: Lich Legend Item: Parchment of Fire Treasure Room: Medusa Grunt: Zombie Generator: Tombstone Advanced Grunt: Ghost Generator: Cross Tombstone Ankle Biter: Maggot Generator: Pile of flesh and bones General: Tall green zombie with a scythe Golem: Uprooted Grass Gargoyle: Serpent Floor Trap: Metal Spikes Wall Trap: Fire Geyser The Sorceress' place has been captured by Ghosts and Zombies! You and your party must put a stop to this before the whole Province is ruined and destroyed! Medusa should be a useful advantage to your party too... When you start out the game, Sumner will give you the story line. When he's done, he'll create 15 Orange Crystals. There is 1 in front of Sumner on the stairs, and the other 14 are to the left of Sumner near the wall. Gather these and head for the entrance to the Province. The invisible wall will disappear, and you'll be on your way. Stand in the first portal, and you'll be transported to the first level of the Realm: The Poisoned Fields. Levels ------ a) Poisoned Fields - Runestone 1 b) Ghost Town - Treasure Room 1 c) Haunted Cemetary - Parchment of Fire d) Mausoleum - Runestone 2 e) Lich's Crypt - Shard 1 a) Poisoned Fields =============================== - You'll begin on a cliff. Make your way around the hedges, and make sure you collect all the Red Crystals you see. The more you collect the faster you will be able to enter the next Realm. As you make your way into to the fields, make sure you shoot the larger haystacks. They are secret walls and can contain many items, including more valuable Crystals. * You'll pick up a scroll saying "Past the old mill is a very well guarded vault." When you pass the mill, a zombie General will charge at you. This is a good sign. At the top of your screen you should see a vault that looks like a small shed. Shoot the door of this small building to reveal the first Runestone. - Continue on and ride the elevator down to a large open plains area. Get the Gask Mask to your character's right. Make sure you shoot the fence behind the elevator to gain access to a Yellow Crystal and some Levitation. Clear out the area and proceed to a bridge. Shoot the walls at the crest of the bridge. Stand on the side of the crest of the bridge and a stump will arise. Get on it and it will take you down to three more stumps. Then, two more wooden platforms will arise with some Food and a Super Shot. Grab it and continue on to the other side. - After you pass the stone bridge, you'll turn right, and face some big zombies. Theres a wall on the bottom side (you'll be going from left to right, and there are stone walls above you and below you) that can be destroyed. Inside this little area are three barrels, which contain some gold, etc. - After that you'll reach another area with a General. Kill him and clear out the area. Go to the sundial in the middle and run over it like a switch. The sundial will redirect itself. Now go over to the chest on the dock to make the chest arise. Open it to get some Gold with Gems. The sundial in the middle will arise and reveal Golden Snake Fangs. Get it and split. - Climb up the building and shoot the beaten up crates for items. Hit the switch and proceed to the next area. Clear out this area and proceed. These two areas contain what seems like and endless amount of green barrels and suicide bombers so prepare yourself well. - Move towards the end and a scroll will tell you not to pass without two switches. There is one right by the locked gate, and the other one is right on the cliff by the left side of the area. Proceed through the gates, making sure to avoid all the wall traps. Just a little bit further up ahead, you'll see another scroll that informs you that theres a Death right ahead. He's on the small plateau right by the switch needed to reach the exit, so you'll have to face him sooner or later. Defeat Death, hit the switch, get the Crystals, and take the exit. b) Ghost Town =============================== - You start out right outside the gates of the Town. Once you clear out all enemies nearby, proceed through the gate on your left and a General will immediately charge at you. Kill him and cross the bridge to clear out the area. Enter and proceed through the destroyed house and you'll see yet another General waiting for you. Kill him, and any other enemies nearby. Turn left to grab a Full Meal and the switch. The switch will lower the floor boards of the house and will lead you to a small compartment containing Bananas, a Green Crystal, and another switch. Pull down the lever to lower a chest out of the water tower. Inside is a Steak, which is definitely worth using a key on. Have a little dinner and continue on. - You'll see some beaten up fences at the bottom. Shoot them and pass through them. Clear out these next two heavily guarded areas. Make sure you destroy the crates for items, mainly Keys. Use these Keys to enter the locked house. Bash in the walls for some Purple Crystals. The front wall of the house is breakable, so shoot it and reveal a chest with a switch. You know what to do. - In the house that's playing music, theres going to be lots of those pesky maggots. Kill them, along with any others, and head upstairs. On the catwalk is a target. Shoot it, and head back downstairs for Snake Fangs that you discovered. Collect your things, and prepare for one fun battle. - When you exit the house you'll see two switches by a crane. Hit the actual switch on the ground first to lower the chest, then pull the lever to bring the boxes over to replace the walkway. Proceed down and take a left. Hit the switch by the minecart door to open the gate to the chest. Once that area is cleared out, go back up to the chest and get it. Then, head down to the galleys and pay Death a visit. Hit the lever on the galley platform to open the hole in the center of the platform. Go over to the switch and Green Crystal by the other wooden platform to raise up the Treasure in the galley. Claim it, and move on. * Proceed on and find a scroll that says "There is more than bats in the belfrey." Meaning, there's something valuable in the bell tower! Defeat the Golem and proceed. * You'll eventually reach a Gargoyle that is gaurding the exit. Slay it. If you haven't already shot a hidden wall and hit the switch that lowers a ramp in the belfrey, backtrack until you do. Then proceed, but make sure you do NOT take the exit... yet. Climb up the belfrey ramps and into the Treasure Room. Its the Midway "M"! Collect all the coins to unlock the Sorceress' upgrade class, Medusa! - Once you're finished in the Treasure Room, its safe to take the exit. c) Haunted Cemetary =============================== - When you start up the level, you will be surprised with a small movie clip. This clip gives you a HUGE hint on where to find the Legend Item in the level. This one, particularly, practically GIVES you the Parchment of Fire, which is in fact the Legend Item for the Province. If you watch the movie, you'll know where and how to get it easily. You shouldn't need me to guide you through this part... If you do... well... you're going to need to find some... professional help... - Anyways... You'll start out at the gates of a long winding road. Kick your way through all the maggots and traps. At then end of the road you'll reach the gates to the cemetary. Clear out the cemetary, hit the switches, and continue on. Watch out for Red Death inside a breakable coffin inside the cemetary. - Continue on until you reach another cemetary. Inside you'll see a Gargoyle along with a bunch of switches and a tomb on the right side. Once you've gotten everything, proceed to the left of the cemetary to yet another long winding road. Along the way you'll see two Crystals next to a switch. Hit the switch, break down the two crypt doors and proceed. - Not too much farther, you'll come up to a locked set of doors, that need a switch to open them. Hit the switch on the left cliff to open the gates on the right. Head up thte hill and shoot the cement walls; most of them are secret walls. Also make sure you destroy the cobble stones on the left side of the area to reveal a chest and a switch. Hit all the switches and continue on the narrow pathways until you reach a tree. Shoot the roots to reveal a powerful Thunder Hammer. * Go back to where you saw the two sets of doors. Now the other set of doors will be lowered. You'll see four crypts. You are able to shoot the doors of three of them, but beware. One of these three contains Death. Further up you'll see a big stone statue inside a small flaming pool that you saw in the movie at the beginning of the movie. You'll have to hit a total of four switches to be able to obtain the Parchment of Fire. Once obtained move on. - Further on, you'll enter a whole valley of stumps and fences. Weave your way in and out of the tricky maze, making sure you investigate the bridge area that you saw back near the Parchment of Fire, along with the tombs that hang around here too. - At the end of the field of fences, you'll come up to a road full of broken branches, fallen trees and uprooted plants. In one stump near the end, there is a switch that reveals two chests and a Cherry that appears from a small underground chamber. DO NOT get the chest on the left. It contains a bomb. Instead get the chest on the right, which contains a chestful of pure Gems, which is definitely worth a Key. Take the exit, and leave this awful place. d) Mausoleum =============================== - You'll start in the crappy part of the Mausoleum. Actually, its all crappy. There are TONS of targets you have to shoot in this level, so keep an eye out for them. - Walking through the cement floors in the beginning isn't really that tough, just make sure you collect all the Crystals and that you kill all the bomb throwers before they have enough time to inflict damage. Also make sure you don't mess around - with the new Ghosts. They're really strong and can pack quite a punch. - Make sure you look thoroughly behind trees for switches, Crystals, etc. - Further up you'll see lots of coffins. Inside are people, live and screaming at the top of their lungs. Unforunately, you can't do a thing about it, except listen. In this area is also a Red Death, so get your Potions ready. * Right across the bridge that you lowered with five Crystals is a scroll. It reads "On the altar, much has been offered to Skorne." and indeed there has! On the altar with a bunch of Treasure and a chest, there's a Runestone! Shoot the checkered wall behind these items to reveal it! To get up to the altar, shoot the hidden wall on the corner perpendicular to the altar and the bridge. Inside is a switch and a Purple Crystal. Hit the switch and it will raise up the Steak on the switch by the bridge. This switch will raise the stairs to the altar. - By the floor that cracks and falls to the ground is a secret wall. Shoot it to reveal a switch. Hit it to make the ape statue fold his hands together so you can walk across them. - In the hallowed chapel is a whole bunch of Treasure. On the side with golden railings, you'll see a small section of railing thats pretty beaten up. Shoot it to gain access back to about 500 Gold. Make your way through whats left of the chapel, making sure to get all Purple Crystals in sight. You'll need them. Not too much further ahead is a Gargoyle. Slay it and continue forward. - The next ape statue is really and elevator. Shoot the target to lower yourself down to a bunch of traps and poison gas barrels. - Run down the rocky ramps and clear out the sections. Hit the switches and prepare for a General. Make your way down the long winding roads. Near the exit, make sure you collect all the Crystals and Potions inside the coffins that the switches revealed. Take the exit, and remember what the scroll said. "Only a fool would face the Lich without the Good Book!" e) Lich's Crypt =============================== - The Lich isn't exactly the hardest boss in the game, but he's definitely not the easiest. The Chimera wins that award. Check bosses section of the Walkthrough Chapter for lots of information about the Lich and ways to defeat this ugly-looking, maggot-spitting creature. The Book of Protection, or Good Book, used against the Lich is in the Sky Shipyards in the Sky Dominion. Find it first before battling the Lich. ------------------------------- 2) Mountain Kingdom ------------------------------- Requirements: 100 Red Crystals Boss: Dragon Legend Item: Javelin of Blinding Treasure Room: Minotaur Grunt: Elf Generator: Shack Advanced Grunt: Fire Demon Generator: Small Volcano Ankle Biter: Scorpion Generator: Pile of Bones General: Undead Pirate Golem: Ground/ Rock Gargoyle: Serpent Floor Trap: Fire Geyser Wall Trap: Fire Geyser Looks like the Warrior's home has been overrun by vicious Fire Demons and weak stupid Elves. Your journey through the volcano shouldn't be that hard. You can also find a very useful upgrade for your Warrior here too. The Minotaur should help your Warrior become better and stronger. When you have completed the Forsaken Province, you should have collected at least 100 Red Crystals. If you haven't then you must go back to a level, (I suggest the Fields) until you do. Or if you haven't beaten the whole Realm yet and you're just sick of the Province (which is VERY common), you can come to the Mountain until you feel like going back to the Province. You do NOT have to beat a Realm in order to proceed to the next. That is one of the most misunderstood parts of GDL. For those of you that have played Gauntlet Legends before, these levels should be very familiar to you. These are the exact same levels, only with a few differences. You know, a Gargoyle here, a few Crystals there... The whole layout and topography of the levels are exactly the same though. Levels ------ a) Valley of Fire - Runestone 3 b) Dagger Peak - Treasure Room 2 c) Cliffs of Desolation d) Lost Cave e) Volcanic Cavern - Javelin of Blinding f) Dragon's Lair - Shard 2 a) Valley of Fire =============================== - You begin in the midst of weak elves and poison barrels. Carefully clear out the area and head across the bridge. * Across the bridge, you'll see a Runestone on a small ledge by the waterfall. After you clear out this area, run up the stone stairs and shoot the dirt walls directly above the head that spits out water. In it will be a Drumstick, a White Crystal, and a switch that raises the Runestone. Backtrack down the stairs and retrieve your prize. - Keep climbing up the stone stairs. There is going to be many flights of stairs that lead to different plateaus, each containing a few elf generators, a few bomb throwers or archers, and a few poisonus or explosive barrels. Again, make sure you kill the archers and bomb throwers first. They're attacks can really add up. - On one of the plateaus near the end is a Gargoyle. Along with it is a bomb thrower. Use your Turbo Attack to kill the bomb thrower, then freely battle the Gargoyle. This will be alot easier than trying to kill the Gargoyle while you're taking in about 4 damage every second or so. Once the Gargoyle is slain, proceed up the flight of stairs until the exit is reached. Before you exit, get the Green Crystal thats hiding in the back, you'll need it. ---To be Completed A.S.A.P.--- ------------------------------- =============================== IX) FAQ =============================== ------------------------------- ---To be Completed A.S.A.P.--- ------------------------------- =============================== X) Hints and Codes =============================== ------------------------------- =============================== Hints =============================== Bonus levels: Play the first level three or more times, then go to the Section level. Play that level two times to unlock another section of levels. Screensaver: Pause game play and do not press any buttons. Eventually some axes will start flying around the screen. Hint: Defeating Bosses: An easy way to defeat the Bosses is to buy four or five of the following items before the fight: Triple Shot, Rapid Fire, a magical amulet (Acid, Light, Fire, etc.) that the Boss is weak against. Get close and press the button as fast as possible. It is amazing how quickly the Boss' life goes down. This strategy can be used for every Boss in the game and also makes the Spider Queen very easy. Hint: Defeating Plague: Go to the far upper right or left. You should be directly next to his vat. This is his blind spot, and very few attacks can reach you. Just fire away at him until he is dead. Note: This is best done with two players, one on each side of his vat. Hint: Defeating Generals: Fire a strong attack. The General will block it. Then, fire a turbo attack. Repeat this until they are dead. For a more powerful hit, use the turbo attack when close to them. Hint: Easy experience: Killing the Spider Queen repeatedly. She is worth the best experience. If you have some friends playing, have them use the "Defeating Bosses" trick for rapid killing. You can get two to three levels per fight depending on how long your items lasted. Go to any level in the Forsaken Province world. Instead of destroying a generator, keep killing the enemies. Hint: Stronger magic: When you use magic, it will be stronger depending on your character's color. Blue: Lightning potions are stronger and have better radius. Lightning shields are also larger. Green: Acid potions are stronger and have better radius. Acid shields are also stronger Red: Fire potions are stronger and have better radius. Fire shields are also stronger. Yellow: Light potions are stronger and have better radius. Light shields are also stronger Hint: Maximum character attributes: Enable the "10,000 gold per level" code. You will start the game with 10,000 gold. Go shopping and buy magic, armor, strength, or speed until you are out of gold. Return to the game and you will once again have 10,000 gold. Keep buying attribute level-ups until your character has 999 strength, 999 armor, 999 speed and 999 magic. You can also replenish your health following a tough level by buying meat until it is restored. Save your character or this will have to be repeated. Hint: Level 99 Sumner: To get the level 99 Sumner, go to the second level of the Battle Grounds, and play it normally. Find the exit, then backtrack until you find a bridge. It will be towards the front of the screen. You should not have to go far to find it. Enter the trap door and get all the coins. Note: You may need to unlock all the other secret characters first. When collecting all the coins, start on the right side. This level is very difficult and may require a few attempts. Sumner's stats are: Level: 99 Strength: 999 Speed: 999 Armor: 999 Magic: 999 Gold: 5000 Health: 9999 Keys: 9 Potions: 9 Hint: Mini Mr. T. Dwarf: Choose the Dwarf as your character and cycle through his colors until you get to the one where he is black and is wearing yellow. You will see a near exact Mr. T replica. Hint: Mini Skorne: When you defeat Skorne the first time, get the items he drops. Wait until you exit the shop screen, then put them all on. You look like a smaller version of Skorne. Note: This works best with the Dwarf. Hint: Forsaken Province world: Mausoleum level: Dead man alive: Go to where you lower the wooden bridge. Walk near the coffins and you will hear a person screaming and pounding to get out. Hint: Finding Runestones: Go to Sumner and scroll down to "Runestones". It will tell you the next Runestone location. =============================== Codes =============================== There are many codes for getting your character to look different than normal, and to get many new characters as well.
