Game Content ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There have been some questions asked about the Mature Content of the game. This is just a general summary of the different areas. Hopefully it will enable you to decide if it is appropriate for yourself/your friend/a family member etc. A. Swearing ======================================== There is only limited swearing in the game. You may hear the occasional "S**t!" and "B*****d!" from several pedestrians, and occasionally in cutscenes, but it will never get any worse than that. B. Nudity ======================================== From what I can recall, apart from the hookers walking the street and your ability to pay for their services, there are no other references to sex, or anything similar. There is definitely no nudity, although you will come across the occasional small skirt on a pedestrian. C. Violence ======================================== Never has there been a game more violent. Except maybe for Vice City which is also out now. You can smack people to death with baseball bats, you can snipe them from the top of buildings after landing your light aircraft there, you can blow up helicopters from the sky etc. D. Gore ======================================== There is alot of gore, but it is more funny gore than an "OH MY GOD! *BLOOD CURLING SCREAM*" When you snipe someone in the leg for example, they'll start hobbling, blood will spurt from the wound and they'll fall to the ground dead. Blood stains that you've caused remain on the pavement or road, and you are positively encouraged to run over people (FUN!) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- III. Media Response To The Game ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Opposition has been brought against the game from many different areas, including politicians, law enforcers and the like. Some have happily criticised the game and blamed it for anything that remotely resembles something you can do in it. Several newspapers have run stories on the game (somewhere around Page 30 mind) criticising it for the way it corrupts young minds. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IV. Plot Summary (Spoilers) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= =-=-THE FOLLOWING TEXT CONTAINS SPOILERS. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. READ AT -=-= =-=-YOUR OWN RISK. -=-= =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= After escaping from the prison van, you and your new friend 8-Ball speed into the night to a lockup on the edge of the Red Light District. There, you change your clothes and then head to see a local Mafia boss called Luigi who runs a Sex Club around the corner. He gives you a trial run and when you deliver the goods without any problems, he employs you as an errand boy. After working several small-time jobs for Luigi, you'll have to take a hooker called Misti to the Don's son Joey Leone. He'll offer you work. You'll be sent on numerous assassination missions, and a bank heist. During your spell under Joey, you'll meet Toni Cipriani. His Mother runs a restaurant in St. Marks. Toni dispises the Triads, and sends you off to cost them money and lives. You'll finish with him once you've blown up their fish factory. During this time, you'll meet with the Don himself, Salvatore Leone. He is quite impressed with and hires you as a chauffeur to his 'woman' Maria. He'll also tell you to try and catch a 'mole' in the Mafia and to blow up a Cartel ship making spank down at the docks. Maria, will tell Leone that you and her are a couple. The response from Leone is a trap, a trap to murder you. Maria pages you before the event and tells you about it. When you meet her at the docks, you, her and Asuka (one of the leaders of the rival gang The Yakuza) will go on a boat to Staunton Island. You'll complete a series of jobs for both Asuka and her brother Kenji, before you move onto bent cop Ray. The final job Ray has for you is a trip through the Porter Tunnel to the Airport to let him escape the C.I.A. After finishing up with Ray, you'll move onto businessman Donald Love. He is obsessed with a certain 'package' that remains a mystery until his disappearance later in the game. You'll being taking jobs from Asuka again before you return one time to find her murdered body, with a ransom note of $500,000 in exchange for Asuka's life. Once you have fought of the Cartel and saved Maria, the storyline is over. __ __ / \ / \ /----\===================================================================/----\ | 02 | COPYRIGHTS | 02 | \----/===================================================================\----/ \__/ \__/ This may be not be reproduced under any circumstances except for personal, private use. I got nearly all sections done except for Hidden Packages, Rampages etc. i.e. Side Missions. I got the entire storyline mission walkthrough completed. I am hopeful this will make it into the list of currently existing FAQ's. [109KB] [2nd December] [Version 1.1] The guide was posted on the Vice City FAQ listings... Anyway, I got the I/E garages done and complete the Phone Missions. I'm doing school exams at the minute, so there will likely be no updates until the 11th December. [127KB] [7th December] [Version 1.2] I took the time to trawl around Liberty looking for the rampages... Talk about depressing. The locations aren't very detailed, I couldn't be bothered typing out the long list of directions to all the rampages. Anyway, apart from that I've got pretty much the entire guide done except for the Staunton and Shoreside Vale packages. I decided to add in Miscellaneous Things such as the Securicar garage at the Docks etc. plus the Secret & Bulletproof Vehicles. Once I complete the packages and put in detailed locations for rampages, I'll add in a few relevant readers notes, fix a few grammatical errors and send in the final version. The final version probably won't be out for another couple of weeks, but I don't want to get bogged down on making this "The Best GTAIII Guide Ever". Once I am satisfied that it fulfils its purpose of helping you complete the game, I'll send in the final version and that will be that. [145KB] [8th December] [Version 1.3] I've done every section except for the packages and the detailed rampage locations. The packages are proving to be a real pain. I could remember where all the packages in Portland were but I can only remember a few at Staunton... a major pain. I also revamped the controls section to a more eye friendly table. I'm quite pleased with the progress I've made with the FAQ, considered the fact that I'm one man without alot of relevant reader contributions. Expect the final version soon enough. I want to revamp a couple of things before completion and ensure that I've left nothing out. [178KB] [9th December] [Version 1.4] I added in a section about the cars. It could have classified as an in-depth FAQ had I submitted it because of the sheer size of it. Anyway, I added that section and a small detail about why you can't swim. I also added in the Radio Stations and their hosts. I am yet to get around to completing the Hidden Packages section and doing the Rampages section. I have a feeling that my first FAQ will reach 200KB without ANY reader contributions. All I get is stuff already in the guide and questions about where a certain car is. Hopefully the new section will satisfy those questions. [206KB] [10th December] [Version 1.5] I've done everything. I added in the detailed Rampage Locations, I added in the Hidden Packages. I also included a Rumours section which should clear up things like Darkel and the Full Winged Dodo. I added in the ASCII Art at the top. It's not spectacular, anything but, but I am pleased enough with it considering it is my first attempt at making one and I didn't want to make it too complicated. I added in a ton of Miscellaneous stuff and a couple of things on R3 Missions. I added in an extra Dodo Trick as well. I am very pleased with this FAQ. It covers everything in the game that it needs to and much more. This is the final version. That means that I will not be doing any more major updates. I will only update if I notice a glaring error contained in the document. [303KB] [7th January] [Version Final] I was hoaking through my hard drive and I came across this and my Hitman 2 FAQ. I always thought the layout for both was a bit poxy, and I recently developed a layout which I find to be quite helpful. I decided that I'd put the new format in, and hopefully make it a bit more readable, because, let's be honest, some of the sections were barely readable, namely the 'Before Starting' section. Its layout was dismal, so I've adjusted that. I've changed the e-mail policy to incorporate the fact that I never want to have to see another e-mail mentioning GTA3. I added in a quite few other things throughout the FAQ. Just general touch-ups. The only major things wwere that I removed the Car List section and included a Car Database at the bottom of the FAQ. I also done this with the Characters and added a seperate section at the bottom. Putting them in the 'Before Starting' Section didn't seem appropriate. Why would you want to know what characters you were going to meet in the game? I don't intend to look at this again, and if I ever catch myself making changes to it again... I don't know... I'll hand myself in to the nearest mental hospital. With this being the final version, I'd just like to thank every reader who has sent me an e-mail containing comments, praise and, on occasion, harsh threats towards me... On a further note, I'm quite surprised about the fact that GTA3 is still so near the top ten of the charts after so being out for so long. I guess it just shows what an amazing game it is. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// //This is the final version. That means that nothing more will be added to // //the guide. That means no submissions of any kind on anything. // /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// __ __ / \ / \ /----\===================================================================/----\ | 04 | CONTROLS | 04 | \----/===================================================================\----/ \__/ \__/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I. A: Map. This is the map that will ALWAYS be at the bottom of the screen. In missions, this will have a pink blip appear on it, telling you where to go. It will also have letters appear on it, telling you where you can to trigger a mission from your boss. B: Time. This in-game timing system is used in some missions where you have to go back at a certain time to trigger it. Other than that, it tells you when night will turn to day and day to night. Obvious really. C: Money Supplies. This 'bar' tells you your current money supplies that you have. You can earn money by mugging a pensioner, blowing up a car, beating missions etc. You lose money when you buy weaponry, visit the Pay 'N' Spray etc. D: Body Armour. This tells you the current amount of Body Armour you have. Nothing Special. E: Health Bar. This tells you the current amount of health you have. You can increase your health by picking up a heart icon (found at hospitals and other miscellaneous areas), getting into an Ambulance or having it with a prostitute in a dark alley. F: Wanted Level. This tells you how much the cops want you in custody. The more stars, the more law enforcement will come after you. Look into Section [500] to see how the Wanted Level works and what law enforcers will be dispatched at what level. G: Chosen weapon. This tells you your current weapon that you have. H: Ammo. It shows you the total Ammo and the amount of ammo left in the clip. I: Name Bar. Terms ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BUSTED: This is the in-game slang used for being arrested. When this happens, you are taken to the nearest police station, where you are stripped of your weapons and are forced to pay money as a bribe to avoid being banged up. If you are going to break the law, you have to remember one very important thing: Do not get caught. Any mission you were on will be failed. WASTED: This is in-game slang used for being killed. This can happen in a variety of ways. You can drown, you can be run over, you can be shot, you can be caught in an exploding car etc. The options of being killed are endless. However, you are taken to the nearest hospital, stripped of your weaponry, and pay money as a bribe. Any mission you were on will be failed. JACKING: Another term for stealing a vehicle. In GTA3, when you jack a car, you will haul the driver out and get in yourself. You can nick any car you want, but ensure that you can drive off quite quickly as cops who see it will chase after you. FUZZ: In-game slang for the cops. A couple of the bosses in the game refer to the police as fuzz. You won't see this term much. PIECE: In-game slang for gun. Self-Explanitory. WHEELS: MANY bosses use this phrase to refer to getting a vehicle. When a boss says get some wheels and get down the docks, you steal a car, follow you map and park in the Pink Marker down the docks. PINK MARKER: You will see this all the time. Walking into the pink marker during a mission will inituate a cutscene, walking into a pink marker for a boss outside of missions will trigger the mission. If you see a pink marker, walk or park in it. It will have some significance. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- II. Wanted Level ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I felt that the 'Wanted Level' metre deserved its own section as you will look at it in nearly every mission. There are 6 stars. As you do more and more to aggrovate the police, your wanted level will increase and they will call on higher forms of law enforcement to try to apprehend you. * - One Star Nothing important. Scraping the polices car, running someone over, shooting someone dead. Can be lost by simply driving around. I wouldn't worry too much. ** - Two Stars The police are moderately ticked off. You have either killed a cop, or gone on a prolonged shooting rampage. Pick up a police bribe and then drive around. If you don't know the location of a bribe, head to the Pay 'N' Spray. *** - Three Stars The police are now pissed off. You'll have Helicopters after you and the police are relentless in trying to bring you down. The Pay 'N' Spray is really your only option here. **** - Four Stars Helicopters. SWAT Vans and Police Cars RELENTLESSLY ramming you. You're pretty much a dead man if you aren't near a Pay 'N' Spray. Best of luck to you. ***** - Five Stars The FBI are after you now. I found that if you can easily access a Police Bribe, it might be one of the best times to do it. At least it will get the FBI off your back. You really haven't got much chance. ****** - Six Stars OK, the army are after you in their tanks. Touch a tank and die. Every form of law enforcement is trying to get you. If you even get this far, it is an achievement. You haven't got a hope in hell unless you are so near a Pay 'N' Spray that you can get in without any problem. You will either die, or end up on 9 health... and then die. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- III. Increasing Your Wanted Level ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A. 0-1 Stars ======================================== In order to get a one star wanted level, you should simply to try to steal a Police Car. You'll notice that the door is locked and the Police man will get out to try and apprehend you. This is your oppurtunity to jump in and speed off. You'll get a one star wanted level for this. You can also hold up a person in front of a cop. This will infuriate the cop and he will come over to you and start punching you. To hold someone up, hold in R1 and you will target someone. If they see you pointing the gun at them, they'll hold their hands up over their head. If you are going to act you'd better do it quickly, because they will think you aren't man enough and just casually walk away. Alternatively, you could run someone over in front of a policeman. This would result in him start chasing after you and then he would call for any patrol cars in the area to try and catch you. B. 0-2 Stars ======================================== This is pretty simple. Kill a cop. Run him over as he walks on the street, or gun him down as he walks past your car with a drive-by. Once you've killed a cop, you're a wanted man. C. 1-2 Stars ======================================== Once you have a wanted level of 1, you'll need to just go flying up the kerb in your car. This should send tons of people flying, and if you're lucky, a cop. This will give you a wanted level of 2. D. 2-3 Stars ======================================== Lob Grenades at the Police Cars that are assemblng nearby. Take the time to gun a few people down with your AK as well. This doesn't go down to well with the police. Once you destroy enough Police Cars, you'll obtain a wanted level of 3. E. 3-4 Stars ======================================== Simply shoot down the Helicopter hovering overhead. You can use a Rocket Launcher or an M16. F. 4-5 Stars ======================================== Shoot down the Helicopters overhead. H. 5-6 Stars ======================================== Shoot down the two helicopters flying overhead. As you can see, once you get to 3 stars, it is pretty simple to work it up to 6. Once you do have 6, your main objective will be to stay alive. So you can either go onto the runway at the airport, where you will only have to deal with the choppers, or you can go into the subway tunnels and shoot any lone police that venture down there. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IV. Shops ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A. Ammunation ======================================== There are two Ammu-Nation shops in Liberty City. One in Portland and one on Stauton Island. There is also Phil, who you can heavy weaponry from after completing a certain mission and a garage of weapons which you can buy from behind the Shoreside Vale Police Station (I'll call it the Fire Garage). +++++Portland+++++ Pistol : $250 Uzi : $800 +++++Staunton Island+++++ Uzi : $800 Body Armour : $3000 Grenades : $2000 Sniper Rifle : $10000 AK-47 : $3000 +++++Phil's+++++ Rocket Launcher: $25000 Shotgun : $1500 M16 : $5000 +++++Fire Garage+++++ Molotovs : $2000 Flamethrowers : $25000 B. Pay 'N' Spray ======================================== This is where you will need to come when you have a high wanted level. It costs $1000 and all your wanted level stars are wiped out as the cops will not recognise the car you are driving. There are 3 around Liberty City. If you check the map that came with the game and learn off their locations, it will help you alot more than trying to look at the map whilst driving whilst driving to avoid the police. Also, make sure that you can locate the one on Shoreside Vale, as it can be hard to find as it is located in a narrow alleyway with the Bomb Shop just around the corner. C. Bomb Shop ======================================== Run by the trusty 8-Ball, they provide you with car bombs. There are 3 dotted around Liberty City, again, one on each island. They all cost $1000, but they each provide you with a different kind of carbomb: Portland: Ignition Bomb Staunton Island: Timed Bomb Shoreside Vale: Remote Controlled Bomb All are activated when the O button is pressed, when you do it with an ignition bomb, get out and then the next person to turn the ignition on is dead. When you do a Timed Bomb, after you press the O, leg it as fast as you can away, and when you do a remote bomb, leave the car where you want it, and press the O button to watch the car go up. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- V. Buildings ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A. Hospitals ======================================== You'll show up here after being Wasted [0510]. If you ever need to restore your health, you can stop at the Hospital and pick up one of the Health Icons that are there. Also, if you ever need an Ambulance to do the R3 Mission for it, or to jump on to get to a high area, one will appear outside at most times. B. Police Stations ======================================== This is where you come after being Busted [0510]. Outside of being arrested, they have no real signifance. Occassionally a police bribe will appear outside, allowing you to lower your health. You should also find Police Cars parked outside, and behind the one at Staunton Island, a SWAT Van. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VI. Techniques ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A. Drive-By ======================================== Press R2 or L2 and press O and you should perform a Drive-By. For this to work, you need to have an Uzi in your arsenal and be in car. Nothing more is required. It is a fun technique to do when you are in First-Person View inside the car as you can watch him turn, point his gun and fire. This technique can be used in Assassination missions and missions where you have to blow up cars as prolonged fire from the Uzi should set the car alight. B. Hooker Trick ======================================== Picking up Hookers is a neat trick added into Liberty City. Girls prowl the streets awaiting customers. Simply pull into her path on the drivers side in a car. Ensure it is not a Taxi or a Police Car as they seem to shy away from these. Anyway, if you do it right, she should bend down and 'discuss terms' with you, before getting in. She costs a dollar a minute, so speed to your hideout or some other hidden place like a bunch of trees and 'do the business' whilst your health increases to 125. After this shoot her down and take your money back. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VII. Item Pickups ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A. Health Icon ======================================== This is a large red heart in a blue circle. Walking through one will give your character full health. You can commonly find them outside of Hospitals and by saving 35 people on Ambulance Missions. You can also get some health by getting into an Ambulance. Getting into an Ambulance will cause your health to raise by 20. B. Body Armour ======================================== This is a large green shield in a blue circle. Walking through one will give you Body Armour of 100. It pretty much acts as another health as it will deplete before your actually health starts to. There are several fixed locations throughout Liberty, but none are outside certain easy-to-find buildings. You can get Body Armour by getting into a Police Vehicle. You can also get a Body Armour pickup at your hideout after obtaining 50 Hidden Packages. NOTE: If you are dangerously near an explosion then the Body Armour might not work. This only applies to certain things, like a grenade blowing up in your face, or justing scrambling out of a burning car just before it explodes and not even getting a chance to stand up. C. Adrenaline Pill ======================================== This icon is a red and white pill in a blue circle. Walking through one will cause your character to take the drug and his body reaction will slow down. When he throws a punch, the victim will go flying a few metres into the air before crashing back down onto the pavement again. It looks like the Matrix and is amazing to do. Getting in a car will cause the effects to wear off. You can get an Adrenaline Pill by saving 70 people on Paramedic Missions. D. Police Bribe ======================================== This icon is a yellow star in a blue circle. It will cause your wanted level to go down by one star and can be vital when you have five stars, which will get the FBI off your back and with two stars, which will give you a wanted level of one, which means you can just drive around until the wanted level disappears. You can get 6 Police Bribes at your hideout by doing 20 Vigilante Missions on each island. Each 10 gets you a Police Bribe. __ __ / \ / \ /----\===================================================================/----\ | 07 | GANGS | 07 | \----/===================================================================\----/ \__/ \__/ There are several gangs in Liberty City each controlling a particular area, known as their turf. When someone of an opposing gang invades their turf, they will fire upon them. Below, are the names of the gangs, their businesses and what turf they control and what cars they drive. ******************************************************************************* Credit the Instruction Manual - Page 15 for some of this information. ******************************************************************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I. Mafia ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TURF: St. Marks BUSINESS: Protection, Extortion, Robbery CAR: Mafia Sentinel The Mafia are the first gang you work for. They wear really sharp suits and carry around Shotguns. Their Mafia Sentinel is a much quicker version of the ordinary sentinel. It is always in black and two can be found parked outside the mansion on the top of the hill of St. Marks. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- II. Triads ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TURF: Chinatown BUSINESS: Protection, Laundry, Artifical Mackerel Factory CAR: Triad Fish/Laundry Vans The Triads wear blue tracksuit like uniform and carry either bats or pistols. Their vans are crap and overturn really easy. Pose no threat unless you are on foot. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- III. Yakuza ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TURF: Business District BUSINESS: Gambling, Protection, Counterfeiting CAR: Yakuza Stinger I like the Yakuza. They are 'Impeccably Dressed' and they drive fast converted stingers that can take alot more than the ordinary Stinger. You can find them driving around outside the Casino on Staunton Island. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IV. Diablos ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TURF: Hepburn Heights BUSINESS: N/A CAR: Diablo Stallion These cars are amazing looking. They are jet black with streaks of fire down the side and go quite fast compared to most other cars. Endurable as well, one of the best overall gang cars. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- V. South Side Hoods ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TURF: The Projects BUSINESS: N/A CAR: Hoods Rumpo It is more a van than a car. Just a better version of the Rumpo. Nothing to get excited about. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VI. Columbian Cartel ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TURF: Airport, Construction Site, Derelict Freighter BUSINESS: N/A CAR: Cartel Cruiser The Cruisers are speedy for a 4X4 modified pick-up truck. It is pretty durable as well. Good overall gang car. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VII. Yardies ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TURF: Up Town BUSINESS: N/A CAR: Yardie Lobo Crap. The inside looks cool but the car is crap. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VIII. Attacking a Gang Member ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you attack Cousin Luigi in Saint Marks and there are other Mafia members standing around, chances are you'll be shot down before you can say "What the hell?!" Which will happen. If you are taking out a gang member for any specific reason, it would really need to be by drive-by or by running them over as if you get out of the car and attack, chances are you'll end up dead. If you go into Mafia territory in search of a Shotgun for example, and you shoot down one of them, any Mafia who saw it will begin shooting at you like there is no tomorrow. You haven't got much chance of survival as the Shotgun is a two or three hit kill weapon when it is used against you. Later in the game, some gangs will attack you because you have caused them 'dismay'. When this happens, they will chase after you in a vain attempt to catch and kill you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IX. Jacking a Gang Car ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In one mission, you have to steal gang cars to take to a garage. There are other times when you may need, or want, a gang car. If you do try and jack it, when you get in, him and his mates will shoot at you and ram your car off the road. If you are looking for a specific gang car, it is advisable that you look for parked locations of it as they won't have an oppurnunity to attack you. __ __ / \ / \ /----\===================================================================/----\ | 08 | WEAPONS | 08 | \----/===================================================================\----/ \__/ \__/ These are all the weapons that you will encounter on your travels throughout Liberty City. I don't know pick-up locations of weapons, but you can pick them at your hideout after obtaining a certain number of Hidden Packages. I will try to give you a fair analysis of each, which will be hard as I have established certain weapons as favourites and others that I only pick of if they are in front of me. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I. Fists ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Understandably, your fists are always with you. You can pick a fight with someone simply by punching them. Other than that, they have no real use as your fists won't do much for you when you are in a gunfight. If you use your fists with an Adrenaline Pill, the game slows down, your character has delayed response, but he exerts the power of a God, and one punch can send your victim flying into a wall. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- II. Baseball Bat ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You can always pick up a Baseball bat at your hideout. It isn't he best weapon as it has to be used at close range, but one shot and they are down, and another shot whilst they are done and they are dead. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- III. Pistol ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This weapon is a joke. It takes 4 shots to kill them and fires really slowly. It is the first gun you'll come across and, fortunately, you won't have to use it for long as better options soon open up. If you see it, pick it up, but I would advise you don't go out of your way to get it. It's not that good. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IV. Uzi ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This weapon plays a vital part in most missions as you can perform drive-bys with it and can run whilst it rapid-fires. It is cheap as well at $800 from Ammunation. If you need a good weapon, I strongly recommend this one. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- V. Shotgun ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A one hit kill weapon that is my personal favourite. It can kill up to three people will one bullet, and can destroy cars in three shots. It is cheap as hell at Phils as well. Target, Fire, Target, Fire, Target, Fire, etc. This can take down an army of opposing gang members in a short space of time. A great all-round weapon. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VI. Grenades ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm not keen on these. Although if they land on a car and explode, the car will go on fire, you have to look at the downside: If you are standing on a ledge, lobbing grenades down at people and you press the O button to faintly, it won't go over the edge, and instead blow up in your face, probably killing you. At $2000 for 10 at Ammunation, the cheap price makes up for the risks. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VII. Molotov Cocktails ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just a fancy name for a petrol bomb. It works exactly the same as a Grenade except that when it explodes, it spouts out fire as opposed to shrapnel. Either way, it carries the same risks as Grenades and cost the same price. They are decent to watch people at a distance burn, but you want to see your victims die up close and personal, on fire, with the Flamethrower. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VIII. AK-47 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I love these. Affordable and kill almost instantly. Target, hold O until they drop dead. Simple and fun. I love these and they can kill large masses of people without much fuss. A personal favourite of mine. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IX. M16 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This has a First-Person View attached to it. Hold in the R1 button to bring it up and press the directional buttons to move it about. It is absolutely deadly and can destroy another car in a matter of seconds. It is also the only other weapon which can take down a Helicopter. The best all around weapon in the game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- X. Sniper Rifle ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This one also has a First-Person View attached to it. Press R1 with square zooming in and X zooming out, O to fire. Anyway, shooting them anywhere on the body is enough to kill them and can help you eliminate targets who are a large distance away. It can be a pain in the ass trying to control it though as it can often move too far when you give the button a light tap and you will then lose your target who will be out of firing range. It is expensive as well. It can be fun, but the M16 provides more carnage, is cheaper, and doesn't need to reload after every shot fired. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- XI. Rocket Launcher ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The daddy. The Rocket Launcher is back. It costs a whopping $25000 to buy but one shot to a car and it is history, it can take down copters in one shot and shooting it against a building with a ton of people standing near it will kill them all instantly. The only problem with it is that if you fire it at an object too close to you you can end up dying meaning that it can be unreliable at the most critical times. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- XII. Flamethrower ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You get to watch your victims catch fire, run around and then collapse to their knees and pass out, their clothes still on fire. Fun. Need I say more to persuade you that this weapon is highly amazing? I think not. __ __ / \ / \ /----\===================================================================/----\ | 09 | MISSIONS | 09 | \----/===================================================================\----/ \__/ \__/ This will be the bulk of the FAQ. Again, if you need to find a certain mission, press Control and F and enter the name of the mission you require a walkthrough to in the field and it SHOULD show up. If it doesn't, check the spelling, if it still doesn't show up chances are I've screwed the name up badly so try looking under the name of the specific boss who gives you the job. Thanks. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I. Luigi ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luigi is the lowest of the ranks in the Mafia. He gives easy missions and runs a club in the Red Light District. When you want to trigger a mission for him, go to the club indicated by a large 'L' on your map, then walk into the back alley and into the pink marker. A. Give Me Liberty ======================================== This is your first mission in Liberty City. It doesn't actually come from Luigi but it is how you meet him and how you get your new hideout. Anyway, get in the car indicated by the large pink arrow over it and then head to the pink blip on the map. Park in it and then when you regain control of the car head around the corner to see Luigi. He'll give you your mission. B. Luigi's Girl ======================================== Take your car and collect Misty from the hospital. Bring her back to Luigi's. You will never get an easier mission than this. Ever. If you manage to fail this, then you should have your game confiscated and be taken to the nearest army barracks to be gunned down whilst tied to a chair. It is that easy. C. Don't Spank Ma Bitch Up ======================================== There is a new drug being sold on the streets called Spank. A dealer is selling this to some of Luigi's girls down the docks. You have to kill him, take his car and get it resprayed, before taking it to Luigi's lock-up opposite the Hospital. Start by getting the bat and heading to the docks in a car. You can either get out of the car and hit the guy in the face with a bat, or you can run him over. Either way, when he is dead, get in his car and take it to the Pay 'N' Spray round the corner from Luigi and take it to his lock-up. Mission Complete. D. Drive Misty For Me ======================================== Go and pick up Misty from her apartment in Hepburn Heights. Take her to Joey's Garage. A cutscene will start showing Joey telling you to come back for work at some point. A large "J" will now appear on the map. Only head here once you complete Luigi's missions. E. Pump-Action Pimp ======================================== The cutscene at the very start contains a very comical line which reads: "Some Diablo is pimping is skuzzy bitches in my back yard, go and take care of things for me!" Anyway, you have to dispose of the guy. If you want, you can drive to Ammu-Nation and get the Handgun, but you don't need it. They are driving a Diablo Stallion, so get a strong car to ram it with. I found a Fire Engine worked particularly well. Anyway, speed towards the blip and when you find them, ram them off the road until their car catches fire. When this happens, they should get out. Run them over to complete the mission. F. The Fuzz Ball ======================================== Luigi has discovered that there is a police ball happening on the edge of Chinatown. It could make a very profitable evening if they could get some girls in. Unfortunately, they are all walking the streets, so you have to go and pick them up and drop them off at the reunion. Get a car that has 4 seats and head to a pink blip, let them get in and then head to another and then another. You should have three in your car by now, so drop them off at the ball. Get at least one more and take her to the ball to meet the requirements for completing the mission. Whatever you do, don't be too ambitious and try and get them all there on your first try. Just ensure you pass the mission as it is a pain in the ass to do again. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- II. Joey Leone ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joey is the Don's son. For those of you unfamiliar with that term, it means the son of the Mafia Boss. A. Mike Lips' Last Lunch ======================================== You have a time limit of six minutes for this mission. It is pretty generous so don't worry too much. Anyway, speed towards the restaurant and get in the car. BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO DENT IT. If you do you'll have to make a trip to the Pay 'N' Spray. Take the car to 8-Ball's Bomb Shop and get a bomb planted in it. Drive CAREFULLY back to the pink marker and park the car. Set the bomb and get out. You should see a cutscene showing the guy getting in and being killed. Mission Complete. B. Farewell 'Chunky' Lee Chong ======================================== Chunky is selling the new drug called SPANK from his feeble noodle stand in Chinatown. As you approach the alleyway with him in it, you will notice that it has bollards on it, so you won't be able to drive in and run him over. Anyway, if you look around the block, you should find two Perennials parked. Take one and get a bomb fitted. Set it before leaving and head around the block and enter the alleyway. It should show Chunky fleeing to his car. If you came in the right way, you should hear an explosion and he's dead. If you set the bomb on the wrong car for the side you entered, get in another car and chase him down. Box him in a corner, jack his car and run him over. Easy. C. Van Heist ======================================== Joey says you are going to hit the payroll van. You need to ram the Securicar hard enough so that the security guards get out. Head to the Fire Station on the edge of Saint Marks and get a Fire Engine. Speed towards the blip and try to hit it with a full head-on collision. This should known about three quarters of his health off. Once this happens, keep ramming it until they get out. You should have two stars now. Get in and speed towards the docks, park in the pink marker and you're stars will go away. Park it in the garage and get out. Voila. Mission Complete. ******************************************************************************* NOTE: You can bring more Securicars back to this garage and get money for them. ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* NOTE: El Burro will page you now, offering you work. To get to the phone, head to the phone icon in Hepburn Heights. ******************************************************************************* D. Cipriani's Chauffeur ======================================== You need to take Toni to Mama's restraunt in the Mafia Sentinel. He wants to make a quick stop over in Chinatown to get some protection money. Park outside the launderette and face the car towards your hideout. When Toni gets back in speed off and head to the blip on your map, park in the Pink Marker and Toni will tell you that he was impressed with your driving and to come back later to get work from him. E. Dead Skunk in the Trunk ======================================== Joey wants you to dispose of a car with a body in it. When you get in the car, the Forelli brothers will launch an attack on you with their considerably faster cars. The way to solve this is, before hand, jack a large vehicle like a Coach, Bus or Fire Engine. Once you have it, look into the tunnel near the car and you should see a parked car with the engine running. Go back a bit and go flying into the car. Keep pushing it and ramming it until it falls into the sea. Reverse and then ram the other one until it catches fire. Then simply take the car to the crusher and it is Mission Complete. F. The Getaway ======================================== Joey needs a skillful driver as a getaway driver for a bank robbery. You are that driver. Get a four seater and head to the blip on the map. Park in the pink marker and honk the horn. They will tell you to get to the Chinatown Bank. Head to the blip and park it in. Make sure that you are facing the alleyway with a police bribe in it. After they get in the car, speed directly into the alley with the police bribe and get it. Head to the Pay 'N' Spray a couple of blocks away and then drive back to the lockup in St. Marks. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- III. Toni Cipriani ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ******************************************************************************* VERY IMPORTANT NOTE! Get all business in Chinatown cleared up. That is Hidden Packages, Phone or side missions, Unique Jumps, Rampages etc. After doing some of Toni's missions, the Triads will dispise you and start shooting at you or your car every time you drive through. This can make missions very difficult, and can make rampages almost impossible. You have been warned. ******************************************************************************* A. Taking Out The Laundry ======================================== You have to 'persuade' the Triads to pay their protection money by blowing up three of their fish vans. Go and get the grenades from 8-Balls. Chances are you won't use them, but they get added to your arsenal at the end anyway. Once you have them, you have three ways of destroying them: A) Ram them and Drive-By until they catch fire. B) Grenade them when they stop at traffic lights. C) Jack it and dispose of it some other way. Whatever you do, once you have disposed of one, move onto another. When you destroy all three, the mission is complete. B. The Pick Up ======================================== The Triads have agreed to pay, and have dumped the money in an alleyway in Chinatown. You have to go and retrieve the money. Once you find the alleyway, take your car in and park it in such a way that when you get out, you are stepping directly into the briefcase and can get back in again. Speed the car forwards, then reverse until they are dead, then kill the stray one near the delivery van. Take the money back to Toni's. C. Salvatore's Called a Meeting ======================================== The Don has called a meeting, and Toni wants you to pick up the main Mafia men throughout the city and take them to Salvatores. Head to Joeys to get the Limo. Joey will get in, and the game will instruct you to get Luigi. Do so and then head to Toni's. Once Toni gets in, a cutscene will show a Triad Van, hurtling down the street towards the Limo. Take the first left and go up the hill. When you see the break in the wall on the right hand side, there will be vans blocking it. Ram through the left hand side and park in the garage. This is alot easier if you work out the quickest route from Toni's to Salvatore's before attempting it. D. Triads and Tribulations ======================================== Toni wants you to assassinate three Triad warlords. Take the two Mafia guys and get in the car just outside Mamas Restaurant. There is one warlord who is standing out in the open. Simply speed up and run him over. The next one is quite tricky. He is in an alley with Bollards, meaning that you can't run him over. Stop at one of the entrances and get out. Make sure you have a ton of Shotgun ammo and start blasting into any Triads that comes near you. Proceed cautiously, eliminating the Traids, before finding the warlord. Shoot him and flee back to you car. The next one is in the Triad Fish Factory grounds. This method allows you to kill him without having to get into the grounds. If you have Grenades (Saved from Taking Out The Laundry/30 Hidden Packages), you can simply go to the hill opposite the factory and lob a grenade in killing him. E. Blow Fish ======================================== Simply take the Trashmaster to the Triad factory, park it in between the Canisters and get out. The only problems you will have will be: A) Time - To solve this, learn the route from 8-Balls to the Factory. If you head straight down from 8-Balls and go onto the main route which contains your hideout and follow it around, it should be somewhere near here. I am unable to remember the exact location. B) Damage Meter - Don't worry about this. The Time is pretty generous, and it takes a full speed head-on collision to make the truck blow up. You are now finished with Toni's missions. You will now be working for the Don, Salvatore Leone. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IV. Salvatore Leone ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Salvatore is the main man in Portland. He lives in the large mansion at the top of St. Marks. Head to the large "S" on your map to get the work from him. A. Chaperone ======================================== Salvatore wants you to look after Maria for the night. You need to take her down the docks so that she can meet up with her Spank Dealer, Chico. When you approach the waters edge, park in the pink marker and Chico will inform her of a rave happening in Atlantic Quays. She tells you to take her there and mind the car. As you are waiting, turn the car around as the police are about to ambush the rave. You have a two star wanted level now and you have to get Maria back safely. When she gets in, belt towards the pink blip as fast as you can and park the car in Salvatore's garage. Mission Complete. B. Cutting the Grass ======================================== Salvatore wants you to follow a guy called Curly Bob home, and to see if he is the guy who is ratting the Mafia out to the Cartel. Once you see the cutscene, take a Mafia Sentinel and head to Luigi's Sex Club 7. Park nearby and wait. When Curly emerges, make sure you are not too close to spook him, but not too far away that you lose him. Follow him to the docks and then waste his ass after the cutscene with Miguel and Catalina. I have heard the following method mentioned a couple of times and have tried it out. It worked once, but not the other. Anyway, you can get a Taxi and park right behind the other Taxi and he will get into yours, you can then just drive him to the docks and waste him. C. Bomb Da Base: Act I ======================================== Salvatore has decided it is time to end the Cartel's SPANK business. He wants you to blow up the ship they are using to make the SPANK on. He tells you to go and see 8-Ball. Take his advise and head to the large "8" on your map. When you arrive, head around the back. 8-Ball will inform you to come back when you have $100,000 to cover expenses. If you already have it, then just step back into the pink marker. If you don't have it, you had better do some R3 missions. Either way, you are now on Bomb Da Base: Act II. D. Bomb Da Base: Act II ======================================== Once you have paid 8-Ball the money, get in a car and wait for him to get in. Head down to the docks and park in the pink marker. He will tell you that he will head in once you fire the first shot. Head onto the roof of the warehouse nearest the ship by accessing the stairs that are opposite from the ship. Once on the roof, head to the edge of it until you can see the whole of the ship. Shoot the two guys standing at the bottom on either side of stairs, and then at the top. Move slowly along, shooting down people, and shooting out barrels, which, in turn will kill people. Once everyone is dead, you should see 8-Ball go running into the centre of the ship. A cutscene should show you him fleeing the boat just as it sinks. You get $150,000 for completing the mission, so you get your money back and make a nice profit. Ensure you have all things in Portland cleared up. El Burro, Hidden Packages, Rampages, Unique Jumps etc. I made the mistake of not getting the Hidden Packages in St.Marks and head to drive a Tank around to get them because the Mafia were ruthlessly shooting me. It might also be wise to finish up Fire and Police missions, maybe even do the Ambulance missions as they are best done on Portland (It is MUCH better if you do them at the start of the game). If you are wondering why this is all here, it is because: !!!SPOILER!!! Salvatore will betray you in the next mission and the Mafia will be after your ass. !!!END SPOILER!!! ******************************************************************************* E. Last Requests ======================================== The Mafia have killed someone and they want you to dispose of the car they used at the crusher in Harwood. This seems a bit below you at this point after you have just blown up a boat? Your suspicions are confirmed when Maria pages you, telling you that the car is a trap and that you need to meet her at the pier. Trust her.The stupid cow told Salvatore that you and her were an item and now he wants you dead. Asuka, her friend, advises that you head to Staunton Island to avoid "more hysterical Italians want less friendly reunions". Anyway, once you are in the boat, steer it to Staunton Island and park at the docks. You are now in a new part of the city where the land of oppurnunity waits. You are now in Staunton Island. Asuka is your new boss. Before doing her missions, take the time to learn the map well. Especially the quickest way to get to the Callahan Bridge from her Condo. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- V. Asuka Kasen ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Asuka works for the Yakuza gang. She is ruthless and gets turned on by beating people up. You will see what I mean later in the game. A. Sayanora Salvatore ======================================== Asuka wants you yo prove that "your ties with the Mafia, are truly broken." You have to head to Luigi's Sex Club 7, and wait for Salvatore to come out before killing him. The easiest way is to head to the Pay 'N' Spray around the corner. To the left, you should see an opening which leads into an alley. Head into this alley, cross the road, and into the alley straight ahead. There should be a set of stairs. Climb the stairs and head to the edge of the roof. You should now be looking right over the entrance to Luigi's. Wait for Salvatore. When he does appear, equip your Sniper Rifle (If you don't have one, you can buy one from Ammunation. I am assuming you have one as there is no feasible way you could have died after Bomb Da Base.) and ensure that it is a one shot kill. If you miss the first shot, the guards will be on your ass to try and kill you. Either way, once he is dead it is Mission Complete. B. Under Surveillance ======================================== Asuka wants you to eliminate the Mafia who are prowling around the city looking for you. You have a Time Limit so ensure that you have at least 15 bullets in your Sniper Rifle and a few Grenades. Head to the first blip only up the road. Two Mafia guys are sitting in an island in the park. Sniper them both and then head to the second blip. There are Mafia guys in a van. Keep your distance and lob a grenade at them. It should blow up their van. Now head to the final blip. You will notice that the Mafia guys are standing on balcony's overlooking the Casino. If you look to the Casino, you should see a set of stairs, go all the way up onto the Helipad and you should be able to see all of the Mafia guys. Once you shoot one of them, they will all fire on you, so shoot the one furthest away from you before finally shooting the one closest to you. The mission is complete when you have killed all the Mafia guys. C. Paparazzi Purge ======================================== Asuka wants you to remove the Paparazzi from the sea outside her home. Steal the Police Boat and head after him. When you get near enough he'll bolt. He is in a Speed Boat, a considerably faster model. So don't follow him exactly. Try to keep him boat between the two aerials that are protruding from the boat. This will act as an improvised tragetting system. Keep doing this until his boat blows up. You are also able to simply follow him around the island he will then park his boat and flee to his car. Sniper him from your boat when he gets out for another Mission Complete. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you are willing to cheat, or went to the trouble of collecting all the Hidden Packages before the first mission, you'll simply be able to launch a Rocket down at him. One rocket will cause the body to become unsteady, and another one will cause it to sink. Once you have sunk him, you can simply head straight back into Asuka's and go onto the next mission. Have full health and body armour to save you having to go to your Hideout/Hospital and then back. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- D. Payday for Ray ======================================== Asuka wants you to deliver the paycheque to the crooked cop they have working for them. Instead of answering the payphone and taking him the cash, you have to answer 4 payphones and then meet him in the bogs at the Park. The only way you are going to complete this ius by learning the quickest path to the phones. I can almost guarantee you won't complete this mission first time. Anyway, just stay in your Yakuza Stinger and hope. Once you meet him in the bogs, he'll tell you to come back for work. E. Two Faced Tanner ======================================== In preparation for this mission, steal either a Fire Engine or a SWAT Van. Both are speedy and durable. Anyway, once you have parked in the marker, watch as he comes out and gets in his car. As soon as you get too close, there will be a heavy police prescence protecting him. Keep ramming his car until it catches fire. When it does, speed and do a U-Turn and run him over if he managed to get out. After completing this mission, you are now working for Asuka's brother, Kenji. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VI. Kenji Kasen ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kenji can be found at the Casino in Torrington. This is indicated by a large "K" on your map. A. Kanbu Bust Out ======================================== Kenji wants you to break an important man out of custody. Jack a Police Car in advance of this mission as the wanted level will disappear whilst you are talking to Kenji. Go and get the car rigged with a bomb and bring it to the Police Station. Park it and start the bomb. Get in the SWAT Van nearby and wait. When it blows up head down and wait for the guy to get in. When he does, head for the gate on the right and go down and turn left. You should see a police bribe ahead of you. You can either head straight for the Dojo, or you can go to your hideout and collect a couple more Police Bribes before taking him to the Dojo. Either way, when you deliver him to the Dojo, the mission is complete. B. Grand Theft Auto ======================================== Kenji wants you to nick three cars for a man he knows. He wants them in perfect order, and delivered to a garage behind the multi-story carpark. It doesn't matter what way you drive as the Pay 'N' Spray is right beside the garage. I strongly recommend that when you are deciding the other to steal the cars in, you take the one furthest away first, then second closest, then the closest. As I said before, it doesn't matter how badly you drive them as the Pay 'N' Spray is right next door. Once all three cars are delivered the mission is over. That is all the help I can really give there. It is mainly down to your driving skills and your memory of the map. C. Deal Steal ======================================== The Cartel are refusing to listen to the Yakuza about staying out of Liberty City. Kenji wants you to infiltrate the meeting and kill off the Cartel members. To do this, you are going to need a Yardie Lobo, head up the highway towards the Construction Site and you should see a Yardie Lobo at some point. They are the red cars with Leopard Skin Seats. Once you have one, meet your contact and then head to the Parking Lot of the Hospital. Park in the marker and hoot your horn. When the Cartel get out, gun them all down. When they are dead, use Grenades to blow up their cars, or if you don't have any, ram them against a wall until they blow up. Once this has been taken care of, take the briefcase back to Kenji's Casino. The pink marker is in the Parking Lot round the back. D. Shima ======================================== Kenji wants you to pick up the Protection Money from three businesses, once you have the first two and park in the pink marker outside the third, a cutscene will show an hysterical man shouting at the lead character about how he can't pay. A new blip appears on your radar which happens to be in Hepburn Heights. Head over to Portland and get a good spot where you are able to snipe the Diablo's surrounding the money. Once they are all dead, take all the money back to Kenji's. E. Smack Down ======================================== Kenji is really pissed off with you because the Cartel and the Yardies are continuing your alliance. He wants you to eliminate at least eight Yardie dealers from the street. You need to be quick as once they are out of SPANK, they will leave the streets. Have a fast car ready before hand and take speed towards a blip, running him over before heading to the next one. Repeat this process until eight are dead. After eight are dead, you can run over more for extra reward money (an extra $1000 per dealer) or you can simply wait until they all leave the streets. You are now finished with Kenji and will be working for Ray. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VII. Ray Machowski ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ray is the crooked cop who had you running around the city after the payphones earlier on. He is in the park toilets indicated by a large "R" on your map. A. Silence the Sneak ======================================== There is a witness which Ray wants killed before he can testify in court. Make sure you have some Grenades before beginning. Head to the safe house he is in behind the carpark. It should show you a short cutscene before hand showing you which window it is. It is the only one with a light hand so it isn't that hard to spot. You will have some trouble successfully launching a grenade through the window. Anyway, once you have, get in your car and wait. Once he leaves the garage ram him, blocking him in. Pull out a Shotgun and shoot his mates, before lobbing a grenade at his car. Once he is dead, the mission is over. B. Arms Shortage ======================================== Ray has a friend who runs an Army Surplus Store. The Cartel have said that they are going to rip off his stock today, so he wants you to go and help him. Head to the store with a 'tall' car. By that I mean has a high roof but you can easily jump on it. Set it up near one of the crates in a group of four. When the cutscene has finished, jump onto the car and then onto the crate and get the weapon, then jump to the next one and get the weapon there. Get your Rocket Launcher ready, and when the Cartel show up, blow them up. Have a couple of Grenades ready as a couple will sneak around the back of the warehouse to your left. Lob a grenade towards them and do so until the firing stops. When they are all dead, a message will flash across saying "Go Check on Phil". Before doing that, get all the weapons that you can as they will disappear once you complete the mission. He will say that you 'fought well' and he will tell you that you can come and buy heavy duty weapons from him at any time. C. Evidence Dash ======================================== There is a very important man in town who has had some photographs taken. They would not help his reputation, so Ray tells you to obtain the evidence. It is being transported around town in a Bobcat. Only attack it when you are near the Pay 'N' Spray. Ram it and a piece of evidence should drop out, head to the Pay 'N' Spray and get a paint job. You can now ram the Bobcat until all the evidence falls out without any problems from the police. Once all the evidence is out, go back and collect it all and then destroy the car, either by blowing it up with a weapon or grenade, by flipping it over or by simply ramming it into a wall until it blows up. Once the car is torched, the mission is over. D. Gone Fishing ======================================== Ray suspects his partner of being a rat, and he wants you to murder him. Get in a Police Boat and head towards the blip on your map. When you get near enough, it will show a cutscene where he lobs a grenade into the water. Avoid this, and speed after him, deploying the same tactics as Paparazzi Purge for an easy kill. E. Plaster Blaster ======================================== The witness is not dead, and he is getting ready to make a Federal Deposition. You need to kill him. Again. Have a Fire Truck in advance and speed towards the blip on your map. Ram it continually until he falls out. When he does, speed forward and U-Turn before flying down the road and running him over. Easy. Well Ray is finished for now. When you open up the third island, he has a final mission for you. But you are now working for Donald Love. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VIII. Donald Love ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Donald is pretty much the main man in Liberty. He owns Love Media, which brings you the extraordinarily amusing Chatterbox radio station. He resides at his Love Media Building. Head to the large "D" on your map to trigger the missions he gives you. A. Liberator ======================================== Donald wants you to rescue an old oriental gentleman that he knows. Head towards the construction site and jack a Cartel Cruiser (Blue Pick-Up Trucks with a bar across the back) and head to Aspatria. Before entering, park opposite the street and snipe down the four guys you can see. Once they are dead, get in the Cartel Cruiser and head in. Turn the corner and run over the two guys there. Now, get out a Shotgun or AK and look in all the garages, gun down any Cartel in the garages. Once you locate him, take an undamaged Cruiser and take him back to Donald's. Mission Complete. B. Waka-Gashira Wipeout ======================================== Donald wants you to assassinate Kenji when he is holding a meeting on the top of the multistory car complex. Read the Notice below before doing ANYTHING in this mission: ******************************************************************************* VERY IMPORTANT NOTICE! Before doing this mission. Ensure that you have completed all of Kenji's missions. If you haven't, you won't be able to do them after you have killed him. It is essential to complete Kenji's missions before doing this mission as they will count as uncompleted missions, you won't be able to redo them and you will only be able to get a maximum of 98% ******************************************************************************* Proceeding, I hope you still have that Cartel car from last time, head to the multistorey car complex, or take a detour to the construction site area and jack a Cartel car. Either way, once you have one, head into the complex. Head up onto the last level and position yourself as if you are making the run-up to the Unique Jump. Speed up the ramp and veer left, smashing into Kenji and then hit the ramp to jump down. Speed out of Newport and dump the car. Mission Complete. C. A Drop in the Ocean ======================================== Donald wants you to pick up six dropped packages from a plane. You have a time limit to get into a boat and out to sea. Get a Speeder if possible as they have the better steering. Anyway, go slowly behind the plane, steering into the packages. You get a wanted star for every package you pick up, except the last one. Once you have all six packages, the FBI are on your ass and you don't have a hope in hell of getting back to Donalds. Dock the boat at the pier beside Asuka's condo and run up the stairs and into the nearby Yakuza Stinger. Head up the street and take the first alleyway on the right. Go straight forward, and up the ramp. The Pay 'N' Spray is just up here. Get your car resprayed and head back to Donalds with the package. ******************************************************************************* AFTER THIS MISSION, SHORESIDE VALE IS UNLOCKED. THIS WILL ALLOW YOU TO FINISH COLLECTION HIDDEN PACKAGES, COMPLETE UNIQUE JUMPS AND RAMPAGES, AND ACCESS THE SECOND I/E GARAGE. ******************************************************************************* D. Grand Theft Aero ======================================== It turns out the packages were a decoy, and Donald wants you to head over to the airport and pick it up from the stripped down plane. When you get over there, you will realise that the Cartel must have stolen the package. Snipe the four guys in the garage and then get into the plane. Your suspicions are confirmed. Head over to the pink blip outside the hangar that shows you they must have taken the package to the Construction Site. Get in the van and head back to Fort Staunton. Break into the Construction Site by ramming through the barrier and head into the uncomplete building. You can go up a level here, where you will be able to see over most of the maze. Once you are here, take different positions and snipe as many of the guys as you can. When you think you have the majority of them, head down with a Shotgun in hand. There is one guy hidden behind a crate at the entrance, shoot him and then shoot anyone else who is there. Get into the makeshift elevator and you will see a cutscene with Catalina and Miguel. He will give you the package, but Catalina will jump off the building into cardboard boxes. She will blame the Cartel for killing her brother and tell you to come back for work. Once you have the package, you will notice that the Yakuza have taken over the site. Take one of the Stingers back to Donalds place to complete the mission. E. Escort Service ======================================== Donald wants you to escort his old oriental gentleman friend as he takes the package to Shoreside Vale. This may be a really cheap option, but I found by simply stopping and doing nothing, he gets there by himself. You can follow him if you want, but that just causes alot more hassle. This mission really is that easy. F. Decoy ======================================== You need to act as a decoy to allow the old oriental gentleman to escape. Head to the warehouse indicated by the pink blip on Shoreside Vale and get into the Securicar. You now have a six star wanted level. Try to avoid collisions with SWAT Vans by braking and swerving. Head down onto the runway at the airport as the patrol cars don't follow you here. Once you are here, just drive around the runways for a bit until time is up. Ensure you don't get your vehicle caught on top of one of the catlights as it will jam and the Helicopter will shoot it until it blows up. If this happens, get out, shoot the Helicopter down and get back in before the time allowing you out of the Securicar has expired. The Mission is over after the time has expired. G. Love's Disappearance ======================================== The guy will simply go in, search around a bit and then leave again as it appears Donald Love has disappeared. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IX. Ray Machowski (II) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You're working for Ray again, head to the park toilets to meet him. This mission is only available after you complete "A Drop in the Ocean" given to you by Donald Love. A. Marked Man ======================================== Ray is screwed. He has been found out as being a crooked cop and the CIA want him. They are aware he is going to try and get out of the country and have the bridge blocked. The only option is by using the Porter Tunnel. MEMORISE the route from Rays to the Porter Tunnel Entrance and follow the signs once you enter. Take a Police Car and have the sirens on when you are out of the tunnel. In the tunnel, they simply enter your path and cause you to crash. Anyway, once you emerge from the tunnel, come flying out and head into the trees a little to your left. U-Turn in here and park in the pink marker. Ray will inform you of a locker with weapons etc. Head over to it and you will find a flamethrower, rocket launcher etc. and a Bullet-Proof Patriot. Mission Complete. ENSURE that you park your Bulletproof Patriot in your Staunton Island Garage. It is one of a kind, and you will not be able to get another. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=Note:=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Park the Dodo outside the park, get in it with Ray and take off using the Callahan Bridge. Once you have taken off, turn around and fly towards the airport. Land on the road outside it and drive into the pink circle. Once you have delivered Ray get back into a different vehicle and drive back to Staunton to the Lockup through the underground tunnel. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- X. Asuka Kasen (II) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Asuka has relocated to the Construction Site, so head here when you want to get missions from her. A. Bait ======================================== Catalina has death squads dotted around on Shoreside Vale. Asuka wanted you to lead them to her men who will kill them. Drive past them at slow speed and they should start chasing after you. When this happens drive at a speed where they are never too far behind or too close. Go into the area with the men and then hide in the corner. You can help if you want. Do this with all the squads and when they are all dead, the mission is complete. B. Espresso-2-Go ======================================== There are nine Espresso stands that are selling SPANK for the Cartel. You have to destroy all nine in eight minutes after destroying the first one. The problem is that they don't show up on the radar unless you are very near, so you might want to locate them all on radar before smashing the first one. Their locations are listed below: Portland: -Opposite the docks -Opposite Salvatore's Mansion Staunton: -Near the Multistory carpark complex -Inside Belleville Park -Outside the Church -Down the street from the church -In the area around the star-shaped statue Shoreside Vale: -In the area of the subway outside Francis Intl. -Near the Hospital I recommend smashing the one at St. Marks first then doing the other one in Portland, do the next 5 in any order and then smash the remaining two. When they are disposed of, the mission is complete. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= The above section is credited to Minesweeper. His guide was invaluable when I was trying to pass this mission. All credit for 'Espresso-2-Go' is given to Minesweeper. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= C. S.A.M. ======================================== There is a plane carrying SPANK flying into Francis International Airport. You have to shoot it down and gather up the spank that it drops. Go to the blip on the map where you will find a boat and a rocket launcher. Get in the boat and head to Francis International Airport. Once you arrive, get out of the boat and get onto the runway. Shoot the plane down as it comes into land. This might take a few tries. Kill the Columbians with a Shotgun and get in their truck. Pick up the SPANK. Once you have it all, you will need to get back to the Construction Site. You have a 4 star wanted level, so don't shoot down the Helicopters or it will go up. Get in a Dodo and fly back to the Construction Site. Make a point of learning to actually fly the Dodo before this mission. Once you arrive back at the construction site and enter the makeshift elevator the mission is over, but you go straight into the next one. D. Ransom ======================================== Catalina has murdered Asuka and Miguel and left their bodies with a ransom note. You have to bring $500,000 to her mansion in exchange for Maria's life. You should have the money by now, if you don't do a few Firefighter missions until you get the money. Once you have the money, head to the mansion. The final mission of the game will start. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- XI. Catalina ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the only mission you will do for Catalina. Your reward is $1,000,000. A. The Exchange ======================================== I trust you took the time to collect the Hidden Packages. If you didn't then do so. It will make the mission SO much easier. Anyway, head to the mansion and the guards will take your weapons. Catalina will take the money and order her men to kill you. Take the gun from the guy you beat up and head to the garage where you will find some Body Armour and a Cartel Car. Head for the gates and run over the guards standing there. When the gates open, you will have seven minutes to kill Catalina. You should see a Helicopter flying over the dam. Follow them to the lower part of the dam. The Cartel have barricaded the entrance. If you have a tank then simply speed up and ram through them. If you don't, then good luck. The best thing to do would be to use the Car Shielding Trick and shoot them down, but the car will probably get blown up. Nick their AK pickups before they disappear. Head down the road, keeping to the right. You should find a hidden Sniper Rifle. Use the Tank again to eliminate the next Barricade, if you don't have one, use the car shield trick again. You should see a cutscene showing the helicopter flying overhead. When you get in, a Barracks will come flying at you. If you are lucky, it will get blown up by the Helicopter, if not, get in your Tank and ram it down. Head up the stairs, using the AK to eliminate people and then take out your Sniper Rifle. Shoot the three people standing aroudn Maria. Ensure you don't kill her and then take the Rocket Launcher nearby. You have three oppurnunities to shoot the Helicopter down. when it makes another attack on you, shoot it down. Once the Helicopter is down, check on Maria. Mission Complete. That is all the story missions done. There is still a hell of alot more to do though, so on with the FAQ. __ __ / \ / \ /----\===================================================================/----\ | 10 | PHONE AND OFFROAD MISSIONS | 10 | \----/===================================================================\----/ \__/ \__/ At points in the game, gang bosses will page you, telling you to come to a specific payphone at a later date to get work from them. The icon appears as a Phone Icon on your map, and when you near the area where the phone is, you can hear it ringing. Walk into the pink marker, and you will see the guy answer the phone and listen to the instructions relayed down it. There are four phone bosses in Liberty. Two in Portland, one in Staunton and one in Shoreside Vale. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I. El Burro ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- El Burro is leader of the Diablo gang based in Hepburn Heights. Head to the phone icon in Portland to trigger his missions. After completing all of his missions, you can still head back to the phone and redo Turismo to try and improve your time for it on the Pause Menu. A. Turismo ======================================== El Burro tells you to get a fast car and to get to the starting grid in Chinatown. It is an illegal street race, and you are going to be facing three extremely fast cars. Cheetahs. Since you should do this mission as early as possible, you won't have a Cheetah yet, so you won't be able to match them for speed. Go to the Car Sales Room next to 8-Ball's Bomb Shop and jack the Banshee. Head for the starting grid. Before parking in the grid, jack as many cars as possible and park them in front of the three Cheetahs. Once this is done, park in the pink marker and wait. When the race starts, the Cheetahs should be held up for a considerable length of time if you parked enough cars. This gives you ample oppurnunity to take corners lightly, and to ensure you don't overturn your car as you speed around the city through the Checkpoints. You need to finish first to complete the mission. B. I Scream, You Scream ======================================== El Burro wants you to jack the Mr. Whoopie on its rounds and rig it with a bomb. Pick up the bomb at Borgnine Taxis and then go the pink blip on your map. This is the Ice Cream Van, which does its rounds around Liberty. Park in front of it and jack it. Go to the warehouse at Atlantic Quays and set the bomb. Start the Jingles and get out. Go across the road and equip the remote. When you see them all gathered around, detonate the bomb. C. Trial By Fire ======================================== Some Triads stole El Burros car and burnt it. He wants you to kill 25 Triads with a Flamethrower. Head to the pink blip on your map to pick up the Flamethrower. It is now more of a rampage than anything else. Get in a car and ram through the fence of the nearby Basketball Court. There are a ton of Triads in there, get out and set the Flamethrower on them. Use the ramp to get back over and roam the streets torching Triads as you see them. You have 150 seconds to do this in, so the mission isn't too challenging. D. Big 'N' Veiny ======================================== Someone stole a van with El Burros finest magazines in it and left the back door open. Magazines are strewn around town, and El Burro wants you to pick them all up and then kill the guy who stole the van. Get in the marked van and follow the trail. You have 25 seconds, gaining back one second every time you collect a magazine. Eventually, you will end up at Portland Docks. Run into the guy and then drive back to XXX Magazines with the merchandise. After this mission, head to your Portland Hideout to see two large stacks of El Burros finest at either side of the door. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- II. Marty Chonks ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Marty owns the Dog Food Factory in Trenton. His Phone Icon is not visible on the map. He opens for work once you start working for Joey. If you wait outside the dog factory between 9am and 6pm and follow the sound of the phone ringing, then you should find his phonebox no problem. A. The Crook ======================================== Pick up the Perennial behind the factory and drive it to the bank in Chinatown. Pick up the manager then drive back to the factory. Once you hear Marty murder the bank manager, take the car to the crusher to eliminate the evidence. Once the car is crushed, the mission is over. B. The Thieves ======================================== Take the Sentinel Marty left for you and pick up the thieves. Take them back to the factory. Once you hear Marty murder them, take the car to be resprayed then drive it back to the factory. C. The Wife ======================================== Take the Esperanto and pick up the wife. Bring her back to the factory and listen as Marty murders her. Take the car to the docks, park it on the edge, get in a truck and push it into the sea. D. Her Lover ======================================== Pick up the Stallion, go and collect Carl and bring him back to the factory. Marty is waiting outside. When Carl gets out, he yells that he is taking over the business and murders Marty. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- III. King Courtney ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Her payphone is opposite the stadium. Go to the Phone Icon in Staunton Island to trigger the missions. A. Bling-Bling Scramble ======================================== Get a fast car and park in the pink marker. Speed through more checkpoints that everyone else to win. There are no tips I could give you for this mission, just get there before the others do... B. Uzi Rider ======================================== The King wants you to help in a drive by shooting on Diablos. Two of his men will pull around in a Perennial and hand you an Uzi. Head over to Hepburn Heights and look for people with blue clothes and bandanas. Perform a drive by on them. Once you kill 10, drive to the Pay 'N' Spray to lose the cops and then drive back to Staunton. Take the guys to the shopping mall in Newport to complete the mission. C. Gang Car Round-Up ======================================== The King asks you to get a Mafia Sentinel, a Diablo Stallion and a Yakuza Stinger for him and deliver them to his garage in Newport. Start with the Mafia Sentinel. Head over the bridge and drive onto the beach. When you see a slanted area of rock, climb up to the top and you should be at Salvatores mansion. Get in one of the Mafia Sentinels there and then position yourself near the cliff. Reverse back, and make sure you go off straight, not an angle. You should land on the beach. Drive it to the garage. Head back over the bridge to Hepburn Heights and steal a Diablo Stallion driving around. Take it back to the garage. For the Yakuza Stinger, head to Asuka's apartment and jack the parked one nearby. Once you deliver all three, the mission is complete. D. Kingdom Come ======================================== The King wants you to pick up a car from a parking lot in Bedford Point. Head over there and get into the van. You will find a note telling you that it is time you witnessed the true powers of SPANK. A suicide bomber will drive up and detonate himself next to you. There are now a load of suicide bombers after your blood. Flee to the right and run past the van there. Shoot the suicide bomber chasing you, then destroy that van with a Rocket Launcher or M16. Jack a car and get behind the vans. Destroy them with an M16. Repeat for the remaining vans. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IV. D-Ice ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Some of his missions can bugger your memory card. Go down to the Glitches section of the FAQ (Section 23) to find out about, what is known as, the Purple Nines glitch. A. Uzi Money ======================================== You simply have to drive by and kill 20 Purple Nines in the space of two and a half minutes. Easy. You don't even need any tips for this except that the Nines look like Red Jacks with purple attire. When you reach 20 kills, the mission is over. B. Toyminator ======================================== You have five RC Cars and three armoured cars to destroy. That means two cars you can afford to waste. This mission is VERY simple, all you have to do is drive into their wheels for them to blow up. Easy. C. Rigged to Blow ======================================== D-Ices car is rigged with a bomb, and he needs it defused. Take the car to Portland and drive it to the garage. Don't worry about the Mafia, they don't appear to recognise you this mission. Once the bomb is defused take it back to Shoreside Vale. If the car gets damaged at all, take it to the Pay 'N' Spray. D. Bullion Run ======================================== A plane carrying Platinum crashed, causing the Platinum to be blown around Pike Creek. D-Ice wants you to pick up the Platinum and take it to him. The platinum will weigh down your car, so take a heavy vehicle like a van and make regular drop offs at his garage. Once all the pieces are collected, the mission is over. E. Rumble ======================================== The Purple Nines have challenged the Red Jacks to a mass fight. Go pick up D-Ice's brother and then drive to Wichita Gardens. He informs you that you can only use bats. When the Rumble starts, look for a bunch of Nines and swing your bat at them. One swing can take down at least 3 and one swing whilst they are down can kill them all as well. When you win the Rumble, this mission is over. ******************************************************************************* THE FOLLOWING ARE THE OFFROAD CHECKPOINT MISSIONS. ******************************************************************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- V. Patriot Playground ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Patriot is parked outside the Supa Save Store in Trenton. You have to collect 15 checkpoints in 5 minutes. Each checkpoint gets you another 20 seconds to get to the next one. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VI. A Ride in the Park ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Landstalker is parked outside the cabin in Belleville Park. You have got two minutes to collect 12 checkpoints and you get 10 seconds for each checkpoint collected. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VII. Multi-Story Mayhem ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jack a Stallion, bring it to the entrance of the Multistory car park and point it at the Barrier. Get out, and get back in to trigger the mission. You have to collect four checkpoints on each level and you have to collect 20 in two minutes. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VIII. Gripped! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There is a Patriot in a park near Wichita Gardens. Get in to trigger the mission. You have five minutes to get 20 checkpoints, getting 15 seconds for each checkpoint collected. __ __ / \ / \ /----\===================================================================/----\ | 11 | RC TOYZ AND R3 MISSIONS | 11 | \----/===================================================================\----/ \__/ \__/ NOTE: These are both side missions involving certain vehicles, so I decided to put them together. Just in case you were wondering. The RC Toyz missions are activated by stepping into 4 unique vans throughout the map. Upon entering, you will see a short cutscene zooming in on a remote control car and telling you what kinds of cars to blow up using the remote controlled one. There are 2 on Portland, 1 on Staunton and 1 on Shoreside Vale. To make the remote control car detonate on a car, drive into its wheels for an automatic detonation or press the O button at a given time. Preferably when you are parked between 2 of the kind of car you are going to blow up. You will blow up gang cars in these missions and the vans are located in their turf. Below is a detailed list of where you can find the 4 vans, what cars you will target, and any tips that you may find helpful. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I. Diablo Destruction ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AREA: Hepburn Heights, Portland. It is parked in an apartment block south of the Car Showroom. TARGET: Diablo Stallions. (Jet Black cars with streaks of fire down the side). TIPS: This is beyond easy. If there are no Diablo cars that you can see, blow yourself up and take the next remote car and one should spawn. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- II. Mafia Massacre ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AREA: St. Marks, Portland. It is parked in a narrow alleyway near Toni's (Mamas Restaurant). If you can't find it, just drive around the block, you should spot it. TARGET: Mafia Sentinels. (Grey Sentinels with bars across the back windscreen). TIPS: Get out of the alleyway in the direction of Mamas Restaurant. More seem to spawn here than at the other end. Again, a very easy mission. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- III. Casino Calamity ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AREA: Torrington, Staunton Island. It is parked in a large open space to the right of the building to the right of the front of the Casino. TARGET: Yakuza Stingers. (Red and Grey Sports Cars). TIPS: This mission will have you kicking yourself in frustration. You need to make absolutely sure that when you start to accelerate, you have turned around and are facing away from the van. The amount of times I've died like this... I've lost count. Anyway, easy once you overcome this problem. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IV. Rumpo Rampage ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AREA: Behind Hideout, Shoreside Vale. Head to your hideout and go around the back, you should see it between a billboard and some trees. TARGET: Hoodz Rumpos. (Purple Vans). TIPS: Once you find it, the only problem you will encounter will actually be encountering the correct type of car you need to blow up. Easy enough. ******************************************************************************* THE FOLLOWING TEXT COVERS ALL OF THE R3 MISSIONS, ESSENTIAL FOR 100% COMPLETION OF THE GAME ******************************************************************************* There are 4 kinds of R3 Missions, Taxi, Paramedic, Vigilante and Firefighter. They are called R3 Missions, because you activate the missions by jacking the needed car and pressing R3. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I. Taxi Driver ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Get into a Taxi or a Cabbie and press R3. You will need to find a fare and take them to their chosen destination as quickly as possible. After parking in the pink marker, you will receive the money for the fare and a Speed Bonus if you were quick. You also receive bonuses for completing certain numbers, $5000 for 5 completed in a row, $10000 for ten completed in a row. Reward: After completing 100 Taxi Missions, consecutively or unconsecutively, and on any island, a Borgnine Taxi will appear outside the factory in Harwood, Portland. This taxi is like a Cabbie except it is red, and has spikes at the front and back of the car. You can also do Taxi Missions in these as well to make a bit of extra money. Side Rewards: Side rewards are rewards you get without realising it. Well, firstly, and most obviously, you get a ton of money, and secondly, it is a good way to learn the map and work out the best ways to get from one place to another as quickly as possible. Glitches/Funny Things: There are some glitches that can happen when you play a Taxi Mission. This one is more funny as opposed to something wrong with the game. But after jacking a Taxi and pulling the driver out, and then pressing R3 to activate the Taxi Missions, the driver of the Taxi will be your first fare. So instead of trying to wrestle you to get his car back, he is actually going to pay you to drive him about in his car and then keep it. Good deal? You bet. This is more of a glitch than a funny thing, but you can get infinite time on a Taxi Mission by parking in the Pink Marker and ensuring that the passenger does not slam the door of the Taxi until the time has reached 0.00 exactly. This glitch will then give you infinite time to complete the rest of the fares. Secrets: You are able to do Taxi Missions in any car, although you risk buggering your game even if you don't save, so use it with caution. Anyway, get into a Taxi and hold R3, get out of the Taxi and then get into the car you want and release R3, you are now able to do Taxi missions in that car. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- II. Vigilante ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Vigilante missions are where you become a law enforcer and try to take down criminals in car chases. You can do this in any form of Police Vehicle, from a patrol car to a military Tank: Patrol Car : These are easy to find and are quick as well as durable. You will need to change this car alot if you are aiming for a certain number in a row. SWAT Van : These are fast, durable and powerful. They can easily keep up with criminals, their durability ensures they last a long time, and their strength ensures that one decent sideways ram and the car is on its roof. FBI Car : These are VERY quick, but not as durable as the SWAT Van. They flip easily and this can even happen before you reach the criminal making the FBI Car more trouble than it is worth when you are trying to complete this particular section of the game. Tank : Not that fast, but this can be easily altered by turning the Canon around (Right Analog Stick) and firing it backwards. Ramming into any car will cause it to blow up, meaning that as you rampage through the streets taking out criminals, you will build up a hell of a wanted level as well. This will cause no problem as you will simply cause them to blow up when they go flying into you. I would recommend a Tank, followed by a SWAT Van, followed by an ordinary patrol car then, finally, the FBI Car. The FBI Car is just too unreliable... Reward: When you eliminate 20 criminals on island, you receive two police bribes at your hideout. Complete 60, 20 on each island and you will have six police bribes at your hideout, allowing you to dispose of the law easily. Side Rewards: You will get to know the map and you will get a ton of money in, but the real reward has to be in the fact that, when in the Rhino, you discover the reason that this game must feature in your collection... Glitches/Funny Things: Same thing as the Taxi missions as far as I know, if you kill the criminal just as the clock hits 0.00 you get infinite time. I am not 100% certain on this fact, so information would be appreciated (You will receive FULL credit). Secrets: If you press Start when you see their car and then press Start again, they will get out of the car. This means that you can simply run them over when they are running around the road. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- III. Paramedic ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Paramedic missions are where you play an Ambulance Driver. You have to pick up injured people, three in the ambulance at any one time, and get them back to the hospital. The more bumps they receive, the less chance they have of survival. You can only do it in the Ambulance, which is absolutely crap and overturns if you take a corner too quickly. You go up in levels, so the first level is level one, whre you have to pick up one person and take them back to the hospital, then level two where you have to pick up two people and take them back and them three and then four, and right up to twelve. Once you beat level 12, you have completed the Paramedic missions. I would like to tell you now, that it is better if you finish the Paramedic missions on Staunton before the gangs start to hate you. On Staunton, you have to go down the stairs and Shoreside Vale is effectively in three parts, meaning that if you choose the wrong one then you won't be able to get back and get the patient. Reward: For rescuing 35 people, you get a health icon at your hideout. For rescuing 70 people, you get an adrenaline pill at your hideout, and once you complete level 12, you get the infinite sprint ability. Side Rewards: Again, you get to know the map and you get money. Glitches/Funny Things: Same as Vigilante. Secrets: Nothing. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IV. Firefighter ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here you take on the role of a firefighter. You belt down the streets in your red fire engine to put out car fires by holding O on your controller to send the water flying out of a cannon at the front of the engine. The fire engine is extremely quick and durable. Don't worry about it flipping over either. The only problem that you will probably encounter with the fire missions is getting to the area quick enough to put the fire out. Reward: After completing 60 fire missions, 20 on each island, you obtain a flamethrower at your hideout. Side Rewards: Again, you get loads of money and learn the map. Glitches/Funny Things: Same as Paramedic. Secrets: Nothing... As you can probably see, highly boring stuff. You do, unfortunately need to complete them all to obtain 100%, but they provide an alternative from the main game, plus you get alot of decent rewards for the time and effort you'll put into them. __ __ / \ / \ /----\===================================================================/----\ | 12 | UNIQUE JUMPS | 12 | \----/===================================================================\----/ \__/ \__/ There are 20 of these littered throughout the city. You get $5000 for the first one you do, $10000 for the second, $15000 for the third etc. and you get a bonus of $1,000,000 when you complete all 20. I hope that my descriptions here are clear. NOTE: They are in no specific order, I am simply writing them down as I remember where they are. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I. Jump 1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This one is on the Callahan bridge. You can still access it from the start of game however. Simply steal the Banshee from inside the car showroom beside Eight Balls and head to the Callahan Bridge. Go through the little gap and go right to the end just before you are about to fall off the hole and into the sea. Park the car in the middle of the bridge on the grating and face it towards Portland. Rev the engine up and speed towards Portland. You should see a Yellow and Black Shaped Ramp. With the speed you are going at, you should go flying in the air and land about 80 metres ahead and achieve your first Unique Jump. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- II. Jump 2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From your Hideout, head left and follow the road down past all the turnoffs into Chinatown and the Red Light District until you reach the Callahan Bridge. Make sure you have a fast car. If you look in between the two sides of the bridge from underneath you should see a grassy mound with two girders connecting the sides of the bridge above it. Start from the road and speed up towards the mound of grass. When you hit it, you will need to clear the girders to achieve your second Unique Jump. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- III. Jump 3 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Get a fast car again and head to the docks. If you look to your right upon entering the docks, you should see a ramp and 4 large containers. You will need to clear the containers to pick up your money. Go back as far as possible so you can still see where the ramp is, as you will need to hit it more or less dead centre. When you are confident with your positioning, speed towards the ramp, and if you clear it, you will get your money. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IV. Jump 4 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Immediately from this jump, head out of the docks from the way you came in and head left. As you follow the curve around you should see a dark brown wooden ramp and a warehouse. Clear the warehouse with the same car you used last time to get you're money. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- V. Jump 5 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Go to the dirttrack beside the Triad Fish factory and continue past it. You should end up on a concrete area right beside the sea. If you go left and keep looking forward you should see a sawdust collection which will act as the ramp you need to use to jump across to the other side of the pier. I have no idea what the criteria is for this one, but every time I cleared the pier it didn't give me the money, I eventually got it when my car landed on top of the knobs they use to tie up ships and stopped there. Anyway, go back as far as possible and speed towards the ramp, lowering your speed a little as you nearly reach it because the path goes down a bit and you may before a very mini-jump causing you to lose speed. After hitting it, head straight to Jump 6 as it is only around the corner from you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VI. Jump 6 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Head straight after landing from Jump 5 and use L2 to look left, and you should see a ramp. You will need to clear the first warehouse, either by landing in the gap between the two or by landing on the roof of the second warehouse. Either way, Head to the end of the pier, turn around and speed towards the ramp. When you reach the end of the pier, quickly make realign your path to straight-on a bit right from your former line of direction (Anyway doing it will know what I'm talking about, because I am sure most of you are baffled at what I am trying to explain there. Moving on...) Hit the ramp, and pray that you clear the first warehouse, because if you don't your car is crapped up and it is pain in the ass having to run to the road to get another one and then drive somewhere else to get a decent car and then back to try again. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VII. Jump 7 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Head into Chinatown (Do this before you do Toni's missions) and head to the Subway, if you look, you should see a ramp to one side of the entrance and the train tracks above. You will need a very fast car and a spot of luck to land on the train tracks here. I took several attempts at it and even landed on the tracks but it didn't register... Anyway, head to the end of the street and speed towards the ramp, if you are lucky, you should land on top of the tracks and gain your reward. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VIII. Jump 8 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This jump is easy as hell. Just complete it in any thing with the same speed as an Ambulance or above (I used an Ambulance displaying just how easy it is). From your hideout, head left and hold in R2. You should see a walkway and a concrete ramp. Go back a bit of a distance, enough to let you go with your top speed for a couple of seconds and then head towards the ramp, you should clear the walkway without much bother and finish all the jumps on Portland. Congratulate yourself now. You know have a ton of money, and 40% of the Unique Jumps done. Anyway, on with the 4 in Staunton Island. ******************************************************************************* THE FOLLOWING FOUR ARE IN STAUNTON ISLAND ******************************************************************************* I'll use the Hideout as the starting point on all these as they are easier found from a fixed location. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IX. Jump 9 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From your hideout, make a right and then take the first left you come to, in front of you on your left, you should see the Multistorey Car Parking Complex. Head to the top of it and at one end of the very top level is a small ramp that will propel you a hell of a distance down the road. Anyway, go to the opposite end of the top open parking area and speed towards the ramp, swerving to avoid the parked car and hit it. If done correctly, you should land in the shrubbery just before the street with the Ammunation on it. And that is another jump completed. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- X. Jump 10 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From your hideout, go right and take the first left. Instead of going into the car complex, continue forward and down under the highway to Asukas Condo. Go right and head through the storage section. I advise you find the Unique Jump first. It looks like an open sawdust container. You will need to clear the water and land on the other side. Once you know where it is, go back a large distance and speed towards it, lowering your speed as you encounter the two quick raises on your route (once doing it you'll know what I am talking about). Clear the water and land on the other side to collect your money and you know have half of the Unique Jumps completed. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- XI. Jump 11 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From your hideout, go right and continue to the end of the road. On your left should be the Callahan Bridge. Take the road just before it and look to your right, you should see an Internet Café with stairs and a garage below ground on your left. Instead of going down here, head into the alleyway beside it and speed towards the jump. This will require alot of luck to get the alignment and speed right. Anyway, when you hit it you should see the usual camera angle. You should crash through the window and land a fair distance away. If done correctly you'll get your money. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- XII. Jump 12 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From your hideout, turn left and then take the first right and continue down onto the end of the road. On your right should be a large highway with nothing in between the two lanes. I advise a Cheetah for this jump due to the large distance you will have to clear. Anyway, go up either away and observe the grassy area in between the two things that suddenly appears. You should be able to get up here no problem. When you do get up, speed towards the Callahan Bridge, remaining on the grassy area. Avoid the two trees and go up the tunnel, you should eventually come flying over the Callahan Bridge. You need to clear it to land the jump, making it one of the hardest. Chances are on your first try you will hit the billboards and fail, try again. I got lucky in that the bottom of my car hit the billboard and I slowly rolled over onto the other side and landed correctly. Well, I'm sure you didn't expect so few Unique Jumps on Staunton Island. The ones on Shoreside Vale are easier to do and easier found. Onto there then. ******************************************************************************* THE REST OF THE HIDDEN PACKAGES ARE IN SHORESIDE VALE. ******************************************************************************* There is no general starting point, as the jumps are quite far apart. There are four at the airport, so I'll start with there. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- XIII. Jump 13 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are three hangars to clear, and one airplane. Let's start with clearing the airplane. After breaking through the barrier (I assume you know how to access the airport), go left and look to the right of the hangar. You should see an aircraft with boarding stairs beside it. You need to use the boarding stairs as a ramp and clear the aircraft. Go around the hangar and build up speed. Just before you reach the end of the hangar, swerve so that you lose no speed and head, at full speed, towards the stairs. Chances are you will clear the plane by a mile and collect your money. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- XIV. Jump 14 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From where you landed on the last jump head straight ahead until you see two hangars with yellow and black striped ramping in front of them. The one on your right is the one you need to clear. Go back a satisfactory distance and speed towards the ramp, you should clear the hangar without much difficulty and collect your money. Only two more hangars to clear. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- XV. Jump 15 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Turn around from where you last landed, and head towards the hangar with a yellow and blacked striped ramp in front of it, go back, speed up and clear the hangar. Nothing special. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- XVI. Jump 16 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- One more hangar to go. Head down the runaway, keeping an eye on your left for yet another hangar to clear, when you see, go back, gain speed and jump over... (RANT: Talk about a lack of originality... THREE hangars to clear? Where is the fun in that, it is just beyond boring. END RANT) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- XVII. Jump 17 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From the SI-SSV bridge, head straight down the road until you discover a dirt track. You should see a broken bridge. You will need to use this bridge to get over the water and onto the other side of the island. Anyway, park right beside the start of the bridge in the alignment you will jump at, and reverse enough to let you obtain full speed. When you reach the distance, put your foot on the pedal and belt towards the bridge. You should clear the water and land on the other side of the island. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- XVIII. Jump 18 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Immediately after landing Jump 17, head left up the hill and you should see a grass mound. Head towards it at speed to clear the water and land on the other side. Two Unique Jumps in the space of two minutes. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- XIX. Jump 19 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These last two require you to be in the same allotment as a starting point. To find this allotment, from the road between the Hospital and Police Station, head in the direction of the bridge connecting you to the second part of the island. Take the first left and follow the curve up. Follow the curve and take the first left, and follow this curve. When you see a small entering into a dark yard, you will know this is where you start. If you go forward and look to your left, you should see a jump. Back up and speed off it, keeping a little to the left to ensure you land in the enclosed space. Use the ramp to get out again. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- XX. Jump 20 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From where the ramp for Jump 19 is look right down the narrow alleyway. There is another ramp you will have to jump. Back up, speed towards it and hit it. Easy. You know have all the Unique Jumps. You get $1,100,000 for completing the last jump. $100,000 for the jump itself and $1,000,000 for completing them all. That wasn't too difficult was it? __ __ / \ / \ /----\===================================================================/----\ | 13 | RAMPAGES | 13 | \----/===================================================================\----/ \__/ \__/ Rampages are skull icons that are littered throughout Liberty. There is no specific way to beat Rampages, you simply have to shoot down the targets in a given time. ******************************************************************************* NOTE: These are in no specific order, merely the order I remember them in. ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* THE FOLLOWING SIX RAMPAGES ARE IN PORTLAND. ******************************************************************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I. Rampage 1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- KILL : 10 Vehicles TIME : 2 Minutes WEAPON : Grenades LOCATION 1 : Train Tracks, St. Marks LOCATION 2 : Train Tracks, Trenton These are both in the centre part of the Train Tracks between the two tracks. I advise you use Location 1. It is on the tracks near the Hospital. There are parking lots nearby that can give you a few free vehicles to blow up. There are also cars stopping on the Traffic Lights outside the Hospital and your Grenade can just about reach there. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- II. Rampage 2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- KILL : 25 Triads TIME : 2 Minutes WEAPON : Uzi LOCATION 1 : Alleyway, Chinatown LOCATION 2 : Supa Save, Trenton You can find the Rampage Icon in Chinatown where you picked up the Flamethrower for the mission Trial by Fire. The one in Trenton is too the left of the Supa Save store. It is advisable that you choose Location 2, as when you are in Chinatown, fish vans will try and run you over as you try to kill off Triads. Don't worry about location 2 not being Triad territory. They will spawn there when you start the mission. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- III. Rampage 3 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- KILL : 20 Mafia TIME : 2 Minutes WEAPON : AK-47 LOCATION 1 : Car Park, St. Marks LOCATION 2 : Alleyway, St. Marks The Rampage at Location 1 is in a raised parking lot down the street from Don Salvatore's Mansion. The rampage is in between the two garages. The one in Location 2 is in the alleyway south of Mama's Restaurant where there are two or three entrances for it. I recommend Location 1 as the alley can become a little claustraphobic. Park a bus over the road before doing this Rampage and shoot at the Sentinels that stop. This should kill the ones in the Sentinel off and any of them standing nearby. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IV. Rampage 4 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- KILL : 30 Diablos TIME : 2 Minutes WEAPON : M16 LOCATION 1 : Alleyway, Red Light District LOCATION 2 : Near Basketball Court, Chinatown This is in an alley opposite Luigi's. There should be a set of stairs here as well so you'll know when you are in the right area. The one at Location 2 is behind the place where the Fuzz Ball is held. Try using Location 2 as the Diablo cars won't try and attack you. Do this one before the Triads start to hate you though otherwise you'll end up with two gangs trying to shoot at you whilst you do this mission. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- V. Rampage 5 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- KILL : 13 Vehicles TIME : 2 Minutes WEAPON : Rocket Launcher LOCATION 1 : Enclosed Area, Trenton LOCATION 2 : In trees, Callahan Point It is in an enclosed area opposite the Old School Hall. Go forward from the School Hall and turn right and then look around in the yard for the icon. For Location 2, it is in the building east of Joe's Diner. Try Location 2 as there is a highway nearby which means more cars and better aiming. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VI. Rampage 6 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- KILL : 20 Triads TIME : 2 Minutes WEAPON : Shotgun LOCATION 1 : Behind Liberty Pharmaceuticals, Trenton LOCATION 2 : Behind Hospital, Portland View The one at Location 1 is down the back of Liberty Pharmaceuticals. You can jump off the train tracks and into this alley instead of jumping onto the roof. The one at Location 2 is behind the hospital. Go up the grassy hill and go onto the concrete ledge behind the hospital to find it. Try Location 1. It is more open for Triads to appear. You also get a Health pickup nearby should things become a little messy. ******************************************************************************* THE FOLLOWING SEVEN RAMPAGES ARE IN STAUNTON ISLAND. ******************************************************************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VII. Rampage 7 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- KILL : 20 Yardies TIME : 2 Minutes WEAPON : Rocket Launcher LOCATION 1 : Behind Church, Bedford Point LOCATION 2 : Parking Lot, Bedford Point On the highway that leads to the SSV-SI Bridge, there is a church on the right hand side. Go behind and into the cemetery to get the icon. Alternatively, you could go to the parking lot where the mission Kingdom Come took place and find it in the corner there. Try Location 1 and go to the nearby AMCO building. Go up the stairs and shoot the Yardies from the roof. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VIII. Rampage 8 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- KILL : 17 Yardies (Head Shots) TIME : 2 Minutes WEAPON : Sniper Rifle LOCATION 1 : AMCO, Torrington LOCATION 2 : Casino, Torrington Location 1 is where I described in the last Rampage. It is up the stairs of the AMCO building. Location 2 is on the catwalk connecting the walkways at Kenji's. Go to the Casino one. Yardies appear more often here and are easier to snipe because you are nearer to the street. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IX. Rampage 9 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- KILL : 15 Vehicles TIME : 2 Minutes WEAPON : M16 LOCATION 1 : Liberty Campus LOCATION 2 : Construction Site Go to the southern most building on the Campus and look behind it. You should find it there. At Location 2, it is in the northeastern corner of the construction site. Try Location 1 as you can head to the Stadium Parking Lot and get a few free cars. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- X. Rampage 10 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- KILL : 8 Vehicles TIME : 2 Minutes WEAPON : Shotgun LOCATION 1 : Park, Belleville Park LOCATION 2 : Park, Belleville Park These are in the Northeast and Southwest Corners. Park a car across the street and then go to Location 1. Shoot the first car and then watch as all the other ones get blown up. Simply shoot down another one or two as they go past. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- XI. Rampage 11 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- KILL : 25 Yardies TIME : 2 Minutes WEAPON : Grenades LOCATION 1 : Alleyway, Belleville Park LOCATION 2 : Alleyway, Liberty Campus For Location 1, go to the alleyway to the right of the Fire Station. Location 2 is an alley south of the Liberty Campus. Try Location 2 as the Yardies are easy to see in the street from here, also you are able to booby trap them if they run past. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- XII. Rampage 12 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- KILL : 25 Yakuza TIME : 2 Minutes WEAPON : Flamethrower LOCATION 1 : Parking Lot, Bedford Point LOCATION 2 : Church, Bedford Point Location 1 is again where the Mission Kingdom Come takes place. Location 2 is the Church down the street from the burger bar. It is around the back. Use Location 1 as more Yakuza will appear as it is closer to their territory. Also, ensure that the on fire Yakuza don't touch you otherwise you'll catch fire also. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- XIII. Rampage 13 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- KILL : 16 Yakuza TIME : 2 Minutes WEAPON : Moltov Cocktails LOCATION 1 : Doorway, Newport LOCATION 2 : Behind Car Complex, Newport Go to the highway that runs under the Callahan Bridge. Look to the right to find a doorway that contains the icon. For Location 2, go to the ramp that leads to the Pay 'N' Spray and 8-Ball's. Try Location 2 as more Yakuza spawn there. You also get alot more room to move around in. The main problem is ensuring that the Molotov doesn't blow up in your face. This can be a pain in the ass when you have 9 health and one more person to kill and it blows up in your face. I speak from personal experience on that point. ******************************************************************************* THE REMAINING RAMPAGES CAN ALL BE FOUND ON SHORESIDE VALE. ******************************************************************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- XIV. Rampage 14 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- KILL : 20 Cartel (Head) TIME : 2 Minutes WEAPON : Sniper Rifle LOCATION 1 : Pike Creek LOCATION 2 : Garage Roof, Pike Creek For Location 1, look for a parking lot with a ramp in it. The icon is next to the ramp. For Location 2, jump onto the garage roof from behind the Police Station. I prefer Location 2 as you are high up so the Cartel can't shoot you, but you are close enough to get a decent shot at them. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- XV. Rampage 15 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- KILL : 20 Hoodz TIME : 2 Minutes WEAPON : Shotgun LOCATION 1 : Garage Roof, Wichita Gardens LOCATION 2 : Francis Intl. There are two apartment blocks seperated by a bridge. Jump from the bridge onto the roof of the garage to get the icon. For Location 2, go behind the SUMO billboard at Francis International to get the icon. I advise you try from Location 1. Simply because more Hoods appear here and you can get a better shot at them from up here. Plus, no angry pedestrians will come up and punch you in the face. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- XVI. Rampage 16 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- KILL : 15 Vehicles TIME : 2 Minutes WEAPON : Rocket Launcher LOCATION 1 : Warehouse Roof, Pike Creek LOCATION 2 : Francis Intl. Go to the Turtle Head Storage Company and go up onto the warehouse roof via the stairs. For Location 2, go behind the BadFellas billboard outside Francis International to find the icon. Go for Location 1 as you can get a clear view of the street. You will probably build up a high wanted level so shoot the Police Cars and Ambulances as they come by and then shoot down the Helicopters. These all count as vehicles you are blowing up. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- XVII. Rampage 17 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- KILL : 20 Cartel TIME : 2 Minutes WEAPON : Car (Hit and Run) LOCATION 1 : Francis Intl. LOCATION 2 : In shrubbery, Pike Creek Look behind the Fat Burger Kid billboard at Francis International to find the icon. For Location 2, is in some grass opposite a parking lot with trucks in it. I advise you take Location 1 and a Tank for this mission as the Cartel can blow up your car easily with their weapons. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- XVIII. Rampage 18 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- KILL : 20 Cartel TIME : 2 Minutes WEAPON : Flamethrower LOCATION 1 : Mansion Garage, Cedar Grove LOCATION 2 : Near I/E Garage, Cochrane Dam One of the mansions has a parked Landstalker outside the garage. Go behind the garage to find the icon. For Location 2, it is in the allotment behind the I/E garage. I recommend Location 1. If you use the hedge as a shield, you can toast the Cartel but they won't be able to shoot you. More spawn here as well because it is there territory. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- XIX. Rampage 19 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- KILL : 20 Hoodz (Head) TIME : 2 Minutes WEAPON : M16 LOCATION 1 : Behind billboard, Wichita Gardens LOCATION 2 : Parking Lot, Cedar Grove There is a 'Squid' billboard on a hill in Wichita Gardens, go behind it to locate the package. For Location 2, go to the curves in the road that lead from Cedar Grove to Wichita Gardens and keep an eye on the right hand side as you come from Cedar Grove. You should find the parking lot and the billboard. Look behind the billboard to find the icon. Go for Location 1 as more Hoodz will spawn there. You need to shoot their heads so aim for their heads before shooting otherwise you waste a perfectly good oppurtunity to kill a Hood. This rampage can be quite difficult so persistance is the key. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- XX. Rampage 20 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- KILL : 7 Vehicles TIME : 2 Minutes WEAPON : Drive-By with Uzi LOCATION 1 : Near Punk Noodle, Pike Creek LOCATION 2 : Behind Boulder, Cochrane Dam Go to the Punk Noodle factory and look behind the main gate. You should find the rampge here. This is behind a boulder where the large road comes back around on itself at the lowest dam level. Go to Location 1 and get in a car. Pull up beside a car and block it from moving. Do a drive-by until it explodes. Repeat this for seven cars to complete the rampage. You should now get $1,000,000 for completing the Rampages. __ __ / \ / \ /----\===================================================================/----\ | 14 | HIDDEN PACKAGES | 14 | \----/===================================================================\----/ \__/ \__/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I. They are a pain in the ass if you don't know locations. __ __ / \ / \ /----\===================================================================/----\ | 16 | EV CRANE | 16 | \----/===================================================================\----/ \__/ \__/ The EV Crane, is the Emergency Vehicle crane. It picks up the vehicle that you park below the magnet and transports it onto the ship. When you complete the list, you can come back here and pick any of the vehicles you left there. It is located in the Portland Docks: After entering the docks, head straight down to the water edge and make a left, continue past a collection of crates and make a right, you should see a large ship in front of you and a magnet dangling below it. Just park your vehicle under here and it will lift it onto the ship. You will need 7 Emergency Vehicles in total: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I. Police Car ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you can't find one of these, sell your game. They are on the streets all the time and you only get one star for jacking one. If you are scared of getting one star then go and steal one from the Police Station. By far the easiest one to obtain. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- II. Ambulance ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You can find one outside any of the hospitals, or you can beat someone up using the bat and one should show up. Steal it when the Paramedics get out and drive it to the crane. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- III. Fire Engine ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You can find one of these parked outside any of the fire stations on the island. You can also set a group of people alight, and a fire engine should come belting to the scene. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IV. Barracks OL ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just steal one from Phils place and take it to the crane. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- V. SWAT Van ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There is one parked behind the Staunton Island Police Station. Take a police car to cause the gates to open and drive in. It should be parked against the back wall. Get in and drive it over to the crane. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VI. FBI Car ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is probably the hardest one to get. I got mine by going to the area described in Section 17 and then going back towards the Pay 'N' Spray. When an FBI Car drove up, I hopped in, got in the Pay 'N' Spray and took it back to my garage. Another way, which I got an FBI Car, was to get a five star wanted level from inside my Staunton Island Alley Hideout, venturing out occassionally to see if I could lure an FBI Car in. When one did come in, I sprinted down to my waiting Police Bribes and got them, then blew up the car. I quickly pushed it into the garage and it was repaired. I saved, reset the game and loaded it again with a brand new gleaming FBI Car in the garage. Either way, once you have obtained the car, take it to the crane. One more to go... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VII. Rhino Tank ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- See Section 17. You get $200,000 for completing the list and the option of taking out any vehicle you want, when you want. __ __ / \ / \ /----\===================================================================/----\ | 17 | RHINO TANK | 17 | \----/===================================================================\----/ \__/ \__/ The Rhino Tank is the most sought after car in GTAIII. It fires rockets from its turrets, and anything that touchs it blows up, making it the ideal chaos weapon. It is deadly to get one if you don't complete 'The Exchange', so if you are in the same position I was in (haven't completed The Exchange but want a tank), then read on. If you have already completed the Exchange, go to Phils and the one there is unlocked. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I. Location ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There is only one fixed location for the Tank, and that is at Phils once you complete the story missions. I have heard somewhere that if you ram the door off, you can get into the tank before you complete the story missions, so any information on that would be appreciated. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- II. Jacking One ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm sure there are several decent ways to hijack a tank, but this is the one I've had most success with. Before starting, complete all the Police Missions so that you have six police bribes at your hideout. Once you do, follow the method below: Head to Staunton Island and get to the Pay 'N' Spray. Have an M16 with tons of ammo, about 15 rockets, sniper ammo, molotovs and grenades. Go to end of the raised alleyway that the Pay 'N' Spray is on. The multistorey car complex is on your right, Asuaks apartment should be to your left, and there are bleak looking skyscrapers in front of you. Get out your Sniper Rifle, and shoot a few people. When you have two stars, get out your Molotovs. Lob one down at a group of policemen. When you have three stars, get out your Rocket Launcher and shoot down the Helicopters until you get six stars. Get out your Grenades and when a Tank approachs, wait for them to get out. Lob a Grenade or two down until they are all dead. Jump down and get in the tank. Take it back to your hideout and pick up the police bribes. Park the Tank in your garage and then take it to the EV Crane after you save your game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- III. Uses ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Tank can be VERY useful in certain missions. These missions include Plaster Blaster, The Exchange and several more. Although, it does have other uses. Simply driving around in it and crashing into cars and cause your wanted level to rise up to about 3 stars easily. This does wonders for your Criminal Rating. __ __ / \ / \ /----\===================================================================/----\ | 18 | DODO FLYING | 18 | \----/===================================================================\----/ \__/ \__/ The Dodo is a light aircraft that can be found at Francis International Airport after you complete Donald Love's Grand Theft Aero. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I. Location ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are two locations where you can find the Dodo: 1) At the end of the runway, there is a Helipad with a hangar to the right hand side. There should be a Dodo parked here after you complete the aforementioned mission. 2) To the left of the runway, there are two hangars right beside each other. The one on the left has a Boeing in it, and the one on the right has a small red plane i.e. a Dodo. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- II. Basic Controls ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Once you locate the Dodo, take it onto the runway and face it towards Staunton Island. There are three runways, so use the one the Boeing's use. Once you feel you are in a good position. Hold down, and hold in X. Press R2 and keep the plane straight. When you see sparks, release the down button and let the plane gain altitude. Release R2 and level the plane out by tapping on the down button. There are two things to remember when flying the Dodo: 1) _NEVER_ press UP. It will cause you to stall and crash. 2) If the plane is going down, do not panic. Let it go down, and the winds will pick it back up again. Once you are in the air, and able to fly it, you might want to try a couple of simple tricks: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- III. Tricks ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I can only do about three properly, so those are the ones I'll tell you about. There is a Dodo Flying FAQ on GameFAQ's that has plenty of more complicated tricks for you to try out. --------------------------------------- A. Barrel Roll and Multiple Barrel Roll --------------------------------------- When you have alot of air, get out over the sea and then tap right, when you at an angle, hold in right and then release it when you are straight again. Level the plane out to complete the trick. You could try multiple barrel rolls, where you hold in the right until you are about to crash before releasing it. ----------------- B. Loop the Loop ----------------- Once you have altitude, hold down for about a second on the controller. Immediately hold up after the one second and you should perform a Loop the Loop. Level the plane out to complete the trick. ------------------------- C. Star Wars Sidewinder ------------------------- People say this is difficult. It isn't really so long as you are able to level the plane out again. Anyway, head into downtown Staunton and look for a narrow gap between two buildings. Put the plane on its side and whizz through the gap before turning around and repeating it. Level the plane out to complete the trick. ------------------- D. Fly Upside Down ------------------- This is exactly what it sounds like. Turn the plane over onto its back so to speak. You should be able to fly the plane like this. The only problem is that the controls are reversed. Left is right and right is left. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IV. Useful On Missions ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are some, not many, missions that the Dodo can make easier. The one that would automatically spring to mind is the one where you have to take Ray to the airport. Park the Dodo outside the park, get in it with Ray and take off using the Callahan Bridge. Once you have taken off, turn around and fly towards the airport. Land on the road outside it and drive into the pink circle. Once you have delivered Ray get back into a different vehicle and drive back to Staunton to the Lockup through the underground tunnel. __ __ / \ / \ /----\===================================================================/----\ | 19 | SECRET AND BULLETPROOF VEHICLES | 19 | \----/===================================================================\----/ \__/ \__/ There are no secret vehicles as such, but these are vehicles already in the game that have something unordinary about them. I'll also list cars that you'd probably want to keep on your way through the game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I. Corpse Manana ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the mission 'Dead Skunk in the Trunk', the car you have to take to the crusher has a body in it. If you look at the back of the car closely, you will see the body bouncing up and down in the back seat. It is much easier to get the car to your hideout if you destroy the Forelli brothers before hand, so charge into the one waiting in the tunnel with a Fire Engine and push it into the water. Once this is done, reverse out and slam into the other one. When it blows up, get in the Manana and go to the hideout. The hard part is failing the mission. You need to have collected 30 Hidden Packages for this to work, so go out and collect them. Come back to your hideout and pick them up. From here, park another car beside the garage so that it stays open. Lob a grenade in and watch as the car blows up. This should cause you to fail the mission. Drive the other car away and then come back and look in your garage. If it is still there, then save your game. If it isn't try the process again. The game has a habit of eating cars sometimes. It is pretty cool to drive around town with a body in the back of your car. If you leave it in your Portland garage and then come back after completing the Exchange (A few months in game) and drive it around, you have to wonder what the smell would be like... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- II. Give me Liberty Kuruma ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the Kuruma you use to make your escape from the bridge on your first mission. Complete Luigi's first mission with the car and then drive it back to your garage and save the game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- III. Lightless Taxi ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is, as the name suggests, a Taxi without the light on top. It is rare but it is nothing special. It isn't anything-proof but it is still provides a nice feeling of achievement when you eventually acquire one. I've only seen one once, and that was when I had just died and had just appeared outside the Hospital in Portland. One pulled up to the lights where I jacked it and took it to my hideout. Bulletproof vehicles are special vehicles that you can find around Liberty City. They reflect bullets and allow you to drive through hostile territory without fear of having your car blown up. There are several kinds of Bulletproof Vehicles: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IV. Bobcat ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the mission, Evidence Dash, for the crooked cop Ray, you have to ram a Bobcat until all the parcels fall out. After you knock the first parcel out, go to the Pay 'N' Spray and then keep ramming it at its side. When it falls onto its roof, hang back and then push it to your Hideout. It is a Fireproof, Explosion Proof, Bulletproof Bobcat. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- V. Securicar ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the mission, Van Heist, for Joey Leone, you have to ram a Securicar until the guards get out. Instead of taking it to the garage, take it to your Hideout and put it in the garage. Kill yourself and when you come back it should be there. NOTE: This doesn't always seem to work. Keep trying and it should. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VI. Stretch ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the mission, Salvatores called a meeting, the Limo is everything proof. You get the same Limo on the next mission, so when Maria comes out of the party, kill her by drive-by and to fail the mission. Take the car back to your garage and save the game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VII. Trashmaster ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the mission Blow Fish, the Trashmaster you get is Bulletproof. The only way to get this though is to drive to the Callahan Bridge, use the flying car cheat to fly over the bridge and then drive it to your Staunton Island Hideout. It is not worth the trouble in my opinion. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VIII. Cheetah ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the mission Turismo, the Cheetahs you face are everything proof. Tail behind one and when the mission ends, the driver will abandon the vehicle. Push it to your Hideout as the door is locked and you can't get in. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IX. Patriot ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You get this one at the lockup Ray directs you to after you have dropped him at the airport in 'Marked Man'. __ __ / \ / \ /----\===================================================================/----\ | 20 | PLACES OF INTEREST | 20 | \----/===================================================================\----/ \__/ \__/ There are many places in Liberty that will be of interest to you, but these areas are hard to come by, and if you can't fly a Dodo skillfully, then don't bother reading this section. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I. Ghost Town ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Ghost Town is sometimes considered the fourth island. It is where the opening bank cutscene is. If you are really skilled, you are able to fly the Dodo through the buildings to try and find the bank. The buildings are not solic, but they are small and noone has successfully landed on them as of yet. To get there, you will need the Dodo. Head to Franics Intl. and get the Dodo onto a runway. Instead of facing it towards Staunton, face it in the opposite direction and take off. Follow the cliff around until you get into an area where you are below sea, but the map shows you above land. You should see the ghost town in front of you. The feeling of achievement you get the first time you get there is immense. Be careful that you don't crash into the area below the ghost town, otherwsie you will end up in an area known as 'Blue Hell' which means you will have to reset your game and lose any unsaved information. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- II. Kenji's Casino Roof ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take off in the direction of Staunton Island and head right. Follow the coast and when you see Kenji's Casino, head straight over it and make a U-Turn. Go back and cut the engine. Descend slowly and try to avoid the north side as it is hollow. Land on the roof and enjoy the view. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- III. "You Weren't Supposed to be Able to Get Here" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Parking Lot where Kingdom Come takes place, get an Ambulance and get to the stairs that you can jump down into the parking lot from. Climb onto the roof of the Ambulance and jump onto the garage roof. Run across and drop down to the right hand side of the wall. Follow it around, keeping an eye on the left hand side. When you see the sign, admire yourself for getting to it and then leave again. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IV. Police Helipad ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take the same route to Kenjis Casino. Again, U-Turn, but instead of looking at the roof, look to the right and look for a tall slim skyscraper with a round roof. Once you find it, take the engine off and approach it. Land on it and use it as an ideal place to snipe people from. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- V. Stadium ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take the Dodo and position it towards Staunton Island. Take off and go left. Avoid the steel girders of the bridge and head towards the now visible Stadium. You can either fly over it and admire the view of the crowds, or you can crash into it and walk around in it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VI. Construction Site Cutscene Area ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As you can probably work out from the name, this is where the cutscenes with you, Asuka and Miguel take place. Take the Dodo and position it towards Staunton Island. Head towards Staunton and then pull left before you reach the Callahan Bridge. You should be able to see the Construction Site clearly now as well as the large unfinished building. Aim for the unnetted level. If you are keeping a constant altitude then you should be able to fly into it no problem. If you don't, it might be wise to circle the island and then come back. Circling the island should give you enough altitude to attempt this. Head towards the unnetted level and make straight for it. You should hit the wall. Press R1 and Square immediately. Sometimes the plane will catch fire so get out again as quickly as possible. Once you are there, there isn't much to do. You can just walk around the area where the cutscenes take place. You can also fire a few Sniper rounds and a few Rockets down into the ground and see how many people you can kill. __ __ / \ / \ /----\===================================================================/----\ | 21 | SUPER JUMPS | 21 | \----/===================================================================\----/ \__/ \__/ Super Jumping is the art of, well, super jumping. Securicar Garage ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- At Portland Docks, there is a Securicar cracking garage. It is the garage where you deliver the Securicar to in the mission 'Van Heist' for Joey Leone. You are able to bring 10 Securicars here. The first will get you $5000, the next $4500, the next $4000 and so on. At the I/E Garage, you can get a Securicar Pickup, so complete the garage then pick up 10 Securicars and deliver them. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- II. Polluted Water ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Have you ever wondered why your guy simply drowned whenever he fell into water? Surely he would have taken the time to learn to swim at some point in his life. The reason he drowns is that the water is polluted. If you look at the newspaper cutting on the starting cutscene, it will have a side column telling you about the poor state of Liberty's water system. Credit: Unknown. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IV. Get to Staunton Early ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There is a way to get to Staunton Island without having to cheat. Doing this allows you to have all police missions, fire missions, paramedic missions and Taxi missions done before the first mission. You can also pickup the packages around the city. This allows you to have all the weapons pickups at your hideout before the first mission. Anyway, go to the Callahan Bridge and get out of the car just before the end. Go to the right hand side of the bridge and walk down the girder. Put it in overhead view and walk down to the about 3/4 of the way down. Use the right analog stick to put yourself in First Person View and face towards the girder on the opposite side. Press X once to remove yourself from first person view. Hold in X, push the left analog stick in the direction of the girder and jump. You should land on the other girder, climb carefully up the girder and get onto the bridge. You are now in Staunton Island. I recommend that you set about getting all the Hidden Packages. The weapons they provide can be very helpful in certain difficult missions. There is one package however that will require a fair bit of skill to get. Drive through the Porter Tunnel until you arrive at Shoreside Vale. Go to the airport and get in the Dodo. Take off in the opposite direction from Staunton Island. Once you are in the air, turn around mid flight and level the plane out. It is essential to maintain your altitude. Go towards the lift bridge between Staunton and Shoreside Vale. Try to land as soon as possible. Once you do, stay in the plane and drive the left hand side up the barricade in the middle. This will allow you to get out on that side. Once you do, walk along and pick up the package. If you do die, or are busted during your spell in Staunton or Shoreside Vale, then you will respawn at the hospital or police station on Portland. It is advisable that you save after every five or six packages. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- V. Free Car Repair ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you have a bust car, drive it to the garage at one of your hideouts. If you park it in there and save and then open the garage again, you will notice that your car is now in immaculate condition. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VI. More Cars in Garage ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you collect about four or five cars (cars like Sports Cars, not big ones like a Trashmaster. Although why anyone would want to store a Trashmaster would be beyond me) and park them near your garage you should be able to fit them all in. Take one of the cars and park it half-and-half in the garage. Quickly get in the other car and drive it into the garage. Do the same with the other car and then take the car that is holding the garage door open and drive it in as well. You should now have three cars in your Staunton Island garage. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VII. Easy Vigilante Missions ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For the Vigilante missions, you can be especially cheap and simply use cheats to get the job done. Get in the car and activate the Vigilante Missions. Get out of the car and use the 'Blow Up All Cars' cheat (L2, R2, L1, R1, L2, R2, Triangle, Square, Circle, Triangle, L2, L1) and it will say that you killed the Criminal. Repeat this process on each island to give yourself the police bribes at your hideout. ******************************************************************************* ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||RUMOURS|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| ******************************************************************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I. Carsor City ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the place that is mentioned on the radio in a news bulletin about how the police chief there was cleared of corruption charges. Anyway, there is no way at all to get there. It does not exist so don't even bother trying to fly further out to sea than you normally do to try and find it because if you do the game will jam and you'll have to restart. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- II. "Darkel" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the mysterious figure who was originally going to be in Grand Theft Auto III. He was going to live in the Porter Tunnels and would have given out terrorist missions to you. Rockstar took that out and decided to go with rampages, so Darkel is not in the game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- III. Full Wing Dodo ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For a while now, people have been telling of a full winged Dodo flying through the sky in Liberty. I'd like to take this oppurtunity to point out that there is such a thing as the Full Winged Dodo but you cannot fly it. There is no way to fly it. End of Discussion. __ __ / \ / \ /----\===================================================================/----\ | 25 | GLITCHES | 25 | \----/===================================================================\----/ \__/ \__/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I. Purple Nines ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is where you are unable to complete D-Ice's missions because there are no Nines to drive by in his first mission. This is a result of you beating completing 'Rumble' on a previous save file and then saving the game. This causes the game to assume that the Nines are eradicated and thus they will not appear on your game and you won't be able to complete D-Ice's first mission. This makes getting 100% impossible and you will have to delete your entire block and restart over to get rid of it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- II. Blue Hell ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sometimes, your game will go into an area called Blue Hell. This is an area which you can't escape from and the only way to get out is by resetting your game. This can happen when you crash into the ground where the ghost town is as it is a glitch. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- III. Floating Cars ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Occasionally when you are standing outside your Portland Hideout, you will see cars floating in the air and driving along. They are at the same level as the Train Tracks. This glitch occurs naturally but does not harm your game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IV. Cheating glitches your memory card ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you use the Tank Cheat, you can cause your game save to become corrupted. The only way to solve the problem is to delete your saved game and start a new one from scratch. If you do wish to a spawn a Tank, do so but DO NOT SAVE. Or if you need it to obtain a certain vehicle (BP Cheetah) only spawn them after you have achieved 100% __ __ / \ / \ /----\===================================================================/----\ | 26 | CREDITS | 26 | \----/===================================================================\----/ \__/ \__/ This is where I credit people who have assisted me in the creation of this guide.
