It’s possible that your playing experience is different when playing on another difficulty setting. Enemies will be tougher to beat and there will be less Medkits and other items available to find on higher difficulties. It’s the other way around on a lower difficulty. The mission goals are the same for every difficulty setting, so to complete the game you can choose another setting than Normal. MEDALS & ITEMS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The walkthrough is complete enough to supply you with a golden medal after each mission. You will only get it when you complete all the obligatory and optional mission goals. It’s possible that you run into items that are not mentioned, because the location of them strongly depends on where you kill enemies. Ammunition is never mentioned, but can be recognized by the bullets icon. To see an overview of all your current medals, check out the Service Record in the main menu. MEDKITS & REVIVES ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In the game there are a few items that will keep you from getting killed, the Medkit and the Revive. The amount you have of those is indicated on the bottom left next to your health. You can add to your health by using a Medkit, which will give you back about half of the maximum. In case you do lose all your health, you’ll automatically use a Revive. You really used a life then and you’ll only get back little health for your next attempt. If you die when you’re out of Revives, it’s really all over. TEAM MEMBERS & MEDKITS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ From the second level you’ll be in command of a team consisting of three soldiers. The abilities of you team are limited, you can only send them somewhere and call them back. Still it can be important to keep them alive, because at the end of a mission you’ll get an amount of extra Medkits for the next level related to the amount of team members that survived. So using Medkits on team members can be useful, you can do this by standing next to them and pressing A when the option pops up. ADRENALINE ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ A new feature in this Medal Of Honor is the Adrenaline option. By aiming precisely, like headshots, a red bar will fill up in the bottom right of the screen. As soon as it is full you can use Adrenaline. When activated you will move in slow motion, which makes it easier to react and shoot with more care. You’ll also won’t lose any health when getting hit and firing your own gun won’t cost any ammunition at that time. +---+------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 2 | G A M E | +---+------------------------------------------------------------------------+ ___ ___ ____________________________________________________________________ | 2 | 1 | REVIEW | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ A review for this game written by me can be found at http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dgfpr86r_89cp4nbw6c. ___ ___ ____________________________________________________________________ | 2 | 2 | STORY | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Soldier William Holt is working for the American special bureau named Office of Strategic Services. When you’re able to move, go left to the end of the boat. The passage to the walking board is blocked now, but you can take out some enemies between the crates ahead while you wait. After a while the passage will be opened, so that you can get off the boat and walk between the crates. Straight ahead is a machinegun, so take cover behind some crates and use the left trigger to shoot down the guy operating the machinegun. From where you are now, clear the area to the left by killing the enemies and move along that side to reach the machinegun you just cleared. Look back to find a Medkit. Take cover again and look towards the southwest. Shoot whoever you see and slowly move in that direction. Ahead you can see green smoke appear, that’s where you need to go. Don’t just run to it though, do it in sections and make sure there aren’t any enemies shooting you directly when moving. Pay attention to the single shooter up in the crane, he can be difficult to take out. At the green smoke you’ll meet captain Beck, you’ll talk to him briefly and get a new objective. Your goal is just to get back to the ship, but a lot of Germans have appeared from the other side and you need to take them out. Again, take cover behind the crates and shoot from cover to follow the route back piece by piece. If your Adrenaline bar is full, press the black button and attack head on. You’ll be invulnerable and won’t waist any bullets when firing. If it is necessary to heal, press the white button to do so. Follow the yellow arrow on your compass back to the walking board of the ship. ___ ___ ____________________________________________________________________ | 3 | 2 | RAID ON ST. NAZAIRE | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Again you’re standing on the walking board of the ship, walk through the crates onto land and head south from there. Pick up the Medkit from the crate and continue going south. Ahead the coast will bend to the east and you’ll run into some enemies when you go around that corner. You now have a team at your disposal which you can send somewhere by pressing the left analog stick and call back to you by pressing the down arrow. Use this as you see fit, usually it all comes down to you. Move from one stack of crates to the next and take care of enemies hiding behind them. Ahead you’ll discover a canon covered in Germans, so take them out before going there. There’s a Medkit nearby, grab it and place a bomb by pressing A at the back of the canon. Run away after completing the clock and pick up the Revive that’s left behind after the explosion. All the way east, almost against the fence, you’ll find the entrance to an underground bunker. Walk inside and watch out for the machineguns. Make sure they’re inactive and head towards them. Enter the entrance just next to it so that you’ll go around the corner to the left and find a big room to the west. That’s where you’ll find Klaus Mueller, the first strong enemy you need to beat. Do this from cover and try to hit him in bursts, or use your Adrenaline and attack him head on. On the right you can find another Medkit. Left in the room is a passage to a smaller room, there you’ll find the V2 papers you need. Follow the bunker west and take out the enemies that hide and come at you. The exit outside is near the red light. There’s a large open area here containing both a lot of Germans and allies, so watch your step and take out all enemies you see. Walk north along the building to your left and head inside. Use the stairs in the south to go upstairs. Watch out for enemies on the stairs and take care of all the opponents on the roof. Grab a Medkit from the crates and place a bomb on the side of the artillery gun. Quickly pick up the Revive and take out the enemies that appear from the northeast because of this action. Follow the walkway where they came from and descend the stairs at the end. Look right and a group of Germans comes running, take them out and look out for the single enemy appearing on the stairs behind you. Move through the area and a blue arrow will appear on your compass which points the way to another bunker. Head that way while killing all the Germans you see. Approach the bunker from the rear, stay away from the front because of the machinegun there. Enter the bunker through the entrance at the back and take out the people inside, after which you can pick up a Revive. Follow the linear route through the bunker and watch out for machineguns and other enemies. Left in an alcove is a Medkit and another one can be found on a table near the stairs at the end. There’s a German at the top of the stairs, shoot him and take care of all other enemies you can see from the opening of the stairs, also on the walkways above you. Constantly keep an eye on them and move west for another Medkit. Near the opening of the stairs is a small step onto a platform. Follow it to the staircase so that you end up at the walkways above. In the room at the end are three opponents, send in your team or carefully look inside to take them out. Leave the room in the east and shoot the enemies below from the stairs, also around the corner and behind the stairs. In the northwest, climb over some pipes using small stairs and you’ll end up at a large fuel tank. Climb the spiral staircase along the side of it and approach the meter panel at the end. Ignore the incoming enemies ahead and just quickly place the bomb. After that, run back as quick as possible and as far back where you came from as possible to get away from the explosion. To get back you can walk through the fire briefly to go through the opening in the fence, but taking a detour back along the walkways and through the bunker is also possible. Now move west with your team members and other allies, back towards the ship. You’ll face quite the opposition and behind the buildings an enemy train will arrive with a big load of Germans. So take cover and take them out one by one. Then you’ll have a safe passage back to the ship. ___ ___ ____________________________________________________________________ | 3 | 3 | LIGHTS OUT IN THE PORT CITY | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ As soon as you get your can and can move again, head through the hole in the wall and face east. Take out the closest enemies so that you can safely reach the machinegun and use it. Mow down everything hostile and also the guy behind the other machinegun in the building ahead. When you can’t see anything hostile, slowly move the lighthouse, kill any remaining enemies so that you defeat the German Infantry Unit. In the bunker might be a Medkit. Grab it and head to the bunker southwest of where you’re standing now. Don’t forget to pick up the Revive if you haven’t done so already! Place a bomb on the door, take some distance and head inside after the explosion. Stand next to the door opening and lean outwards to shoot at an enemy every now and then. Run outside when it’s safe there and take cover behind a crate with your face pointing west. There’s a big warehouse here containing more enemies. Take them out from afar and approach the space carefully to shoot down the remaining enemies. In the warehouse, three rocket hulls are hanging on cables from the ceiling. Fire at it to destroy all three of them and complete that objective. Pick up the Revive that appears and also get the Medkit from the platform at the back. Take out two machineguns from op there as well, one on the left on the ground and one up higher in the building right in front of you. Go back down and walk outside underneath the platform. A few allies will open the gate of the next warehouse. Enter through the door left of it, take cover and point your attention north. Both upstairs and downstairs will be flooded with men, take them all out. You can get up to the south platform to get a Medkit, then go north through the door and outside to the west. There are a lot of enemies here, so first take cover in the north and shoot the southern enemies. Carefully look around the corner and stay and shoot there at quite a lot of enemies. Wait a while when all goes quiet, then head over to the roofed platform. Make your way south and shoot everything and everybody not on your side, including a machinegun right in front of you. Make sure the next platform is also free from enemies, then you can descend to the piers by following the blue arrows on your compass. There are enemies on the piers as well, so take them out while heading for the submarine. At the front, at the back and at the middle are spots where you need to place bombs. Place the middle one last so you have more time to get away. Near the pier towards the submarine you can find the Revive as your reward. Go back up again and through the building in the direction of the yellow arrow on your compass. At the exit you’ll find a Medkit and a load of enemies outside. Take out the first bunch and move from obstacle to obstacle. There’s a machinegun stationed at the building ahead, keep an eye on it. Shoot the first guy that operates it and then the rest that will take his place. Approach the building and make sure you have enough health before you go up the stairs. Take out a few regular enemies inside, but Horst Brenner also appears here, the German officer you have to take out. After a couple of hits he will seek shelter in the upper office in the left corner. Approach the office carefully and use your Adrenaline to make it easier to take out Brenner here. Then pick up the V2 information from the desk in this office. Go back down and descend more using the stairs in the east. Follow the obvious path between the crates and enemies. Pick up a Medkit along the way and cross to the other side in the machine room. At the bottom of the stairs, head up to the machines and take out the enemies appearing above you before you place a bomb on each generator. Then follow the whole route back outside, to even before where you fought Horst Brenner. There’s little resistance along the way. At the machinegun, help out by shooting the Germans and then head into the direction of the yellow arrow on your compass to get to the detonator. Press it to blow up the whole building. ___ ___ ____________________________________________________________________ | 3 | 4 | ESCAPE AT DAWN | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ After getting the information that you’ll have to do without reinforcements, leave the room and walk through the alley. In the street heading southeast there are a few enemies, so take cover and move forward bit by bit while shooting Germans. At the blockade you need to go into the house on the right corner, make sure there aren’t any enemies when you go inside. Also check the upper floor before you head through the door underneath the stairs and back outside again. To the left a window will open up high, quickly take out the shooter. Carefully move up through the street, ahead on the right is a machinegun. First take out everyone around it and carefully look around the corner. Take out the guy operating the machinegun and also the next one when he takes over. You have to kill everyone in the house to complete the objective, then you’ll find a Revive and Medkit inside. Head south to continue and follow the route until you get to another allied team, a Medkit is nearby. Walk east with them and turn left at the barricades and go into the house. From there you’ll have a better view at the enemies taking shelter in and around the building on the other side. First take out the machinegun and then the rest of the Germans. When it’s relatively safe, approach the building over the ground and a few friends will blow up a door. Enter through this opening and search the building. There are two enemies downstairs, there’s a Medkit next to the stairs. Upstairs there’s another one, but first take care of the opponents north of you, both upstairs and downstairs. Descend from the stairs and climb the one in the next building to find a Medkit. Then continue from the bottom of the stairs and follow your men up the next stairs. You’ll be shot at by a tank, but you can’t do anything about it yourself. Just shoot the enemies downstairs near the church and make sure nobody is operating the machinegun. A bomber will come by and destroy the tank for you, after which you can pick up a Revive and Medkit from the small room on the side. Descend using the other stairs so you get back outside again, where you can probably find a Medkit. Head towards the tank and go around it through the building, but don’t approach the church just yet. First take out the men inside and outside, you’ll have to fight Erich Koster when you go in. A good time to use your Adrenaline, because the place is also crawling with normal hostile soldiers. Erich is located near the altar at the back of the church, you can find the documents you’re looking for at the same place when you take him down. In the south-eastern corner of the church and behind the altar there are Medkits. In the same corner is an opening to the radio tower. Place a bomb on the beam that allows that to blow it up, then walk through the church and to the northeast. Fight your way from obstacle to obstacle when you get outside, until a tank shows up. Use your grenades to take out the tank, you can find more of them around the area. It works best to throw a grenade underneath the tank from the front. When it’s defeated, walk outside of the area behind the tank. ___ ___ ____________________________________________________________________ | 3 | 5 | OPERATION: BLINDFOLD | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Follow the route up to an intersection and head right there. You’ll discover there’s a tank located in the ruins ahead. Left of the two covered obstacles is a Medkit and another one in front of the wall in front of the ruins. Approach the ruin from the right so that you get behind the tank and kill all enemies in and around the ruin. When the coast is almost clear, return to the tank and throw some grenades underneath it from the back. A Revive will appear there when the tank is destroyed. In the ruins you can find Medkits on multiple locations. Now you need to head east, but the ditch is filled with a lot of enemies and there’s a machinegun in the bunker. Shoot the guy behind it and quickly run the entire distance to the bunker. Take out the enemies in and around the bunker’s opening, but don’t go down just yet. Crouch down and move slowly through the ditch while shooting down the Germans that appear and grabbing Medkits. When you reach the bunker at the other end enemies will come storming out, take care of them with your shotgun. Descend to the lower part of the bunker here and defeat the enemies to get into a room ahead on the left where you can find the necessary papers for this mission. Follow the route further and pick up the Medkits, you’ll arrive at the bunker at the other end of the ditch. Get out on the west side and look north, ahead in the mountains is a radar tower. More west is another small ruin, there are probably still enemies there, just like up in the rocks near the radar tower behind the machinegun. Take care of them first and collect the items, including Medkits. There are two paths leading up to the radar tower, one on each side of the rocks, so take the most eastern one and approach the bunker. Stay at a distance and shoot all the men from as for as possible. When you can’t see anybody anymore, hide behind the boxes in the northeast and continue shooting enemies in the west. When there’s no movement anymore, clear the area including the machinegun in the south. A load of Germans will appear, so make good use of the machinegun to take them out. Turn around and approach the bunker, you can access it from the right side. First check the small room and then place the bomb at the indicated spot. Take some distance by going outside, but a tank and a huge amount of enemies will appear. So take cover and take out the men first, use Adrenaline if necessary. Then throw some grenades underneath the tank to destroy it as well. Walk back into the bunker again to pick up your hard earned Revive. Then return to the long ditch and get out on the eastern side. Move towards the huge dark plume of smoke in the southeast so that you pass by an allied person and can grab a Medkit before going through the small tunnel. The next special German opponent will appear here, Adabold Brecht. The area ahead is a pretty linear path with rubble from a crashed plane next to it. When you get to close to Brecht he will flee further down the path every time. So you either need to hit him from afar or make sure he can’t go anywhere. Meanwhile you need to watch out for other enemies while following the route through some wreckages until you get to a downed allied soldier. Pick up the extra documents by hand and take out the remaining enemies in the area. Then follow the entire route back to the first hidden allied soldier near the small tunnel. Look north and you’ll see there’s a passageway in the rocks in the direction of the next bunker. Walk through it and all hell will break loose. You only need to pay attention to the machinegun on the roof. Take it out or just head to the tank in front of you right away. Keep low and crawl to the rear side, place the bomb there and get back to the safety of the passageway you came from. Exit on the other side and look northeast, a hanger has now opened there. Shoot your way to the entrance and make sure the machinegun isn’t operated. Blow everyone inside to pieces with your shotgun, after which you place a bomb on both tanks to blow them up. Make use of the machinegun in the doorway to take out the enemies around the bunker, especially the machinegun on the roof. The operator will be replaced, so don’t run towards the bunker before all replacements are dead as well. First check the building on the right, then already shoot a couple of enemies you can see through the window openings. To get inside you need to place a bomb on the door in the middle, walk inside with your shotgun and clear both the room on the left and right of the ramp in the middle to get items and kill enemies. Go up in the left room and look out for hidden enemies on this floor. Follow the path in the east to go up another floor and take care of some Germans again. Especially look out for the guy standing outside shooting at you through the bunker opening. Outside, head through the northern entrance and take out all the enemies to be able to reach the exit. ___ ___ ____________________________________________________________________ | 3 | 6 | OPERATION: V2 SILENCE | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ You’ll start this mission alone, but you’ll get some team mates as you progress. Shoot the guy at the corner and carefully look around it to shoot the enemies in the room ahead one by one. Lure them out by coming a bit closer and then shoot them from cover. When the room is secure, continue and cross to the other side in the north. There are multiple enemies around the corner in the hallway, move slowly and take them out. To the right is another office space. Secure it, grab a Medkit in the east and then walk towards the west. In the room right in front of you there’s Medkit in a small side room and a imprisoned allied soldier. Blow up the door and you’ll have your first team mate. Return to the junction and go back by going straight. Follow the path left of you to another door to blow up, take care of a guard inside and free the allied soldier. Now your team consists of two soldiers. Walk back through the office space and head south, follow the hallway to the left to the first office area. In the east, walk through an opened gate into a tunnel to get to a room with generators. There are quite a lot of enemies here, so first make sure they’re all take care of. Descend in the northwest corner, blow up the door and shoot the guard behind it. Pick up a Medkit and free the last allied soldier to make your team complete. On your way back you’ll find a Revive and some more enemies. Now take the eastern exit in the room with the generators, a route to a movie theatre. Take out the people in the hallway and also the enemies you can see in the theatre through the window. Walk around so that you end up in the theatre and kill some remaining Germans. Approach the projector and press A next to it to take the roll of film, this will make a Revive appear on the desk. In the eastern wall is another passage, you’ll find Hans Schneider behind it along with some normal soldiers. If your Adrenaline is full then run in shooting and just mow down Schneider and then the rest. If not, lean from the doorway and fire a aimed shot every now and then. When Schneider is beaten you can pick up the demanded documents from the middle table. Walk back through the movie theatre to the room with the generators. There’s one exit left, in the northeast. Head up the ramp en watch out for enemies hiding behind the lifted crates. First secure the entire lower section and check out the bunker on the right for some items, including a Medkit. After that you need to go up the big northern ramp, but the further you go the more opposition you will face. Use the ramp itself instead of the stairs next to it, so that you have the possibility to take cover behind the lifted crates. Once upstairs you can go outside on the left, but there’s a heavy gunfight going on. Try to take out the operator of the machinegun in the southwest, then you can take out the many enemies around the buildings. Circle around it to check whether everyone is dead, then check inside to find items. The make your way north, over the platform along the buildings. Many enemies will appear around the truck, mow them down one by one. Use one of the two doorways in the building to go inside, take out the enemies and look for a blue map. Press A next to it to make a picture of it. Back outside again, make sure everyone in the northern tower is dead, then move around the corner and head east. Shoot your way to the train tracks, a bomb can be placed near the northern fence. So do that to blow up the tracks, but look out for enemies coming from the east and out of the hangar. Pick up your Revive from the crate next to the blast area. Continue moving east and take out the enemies around the buildings east of the hangar. Run up to it and take care of the remaining enemies that are inside or come running out. Underneath the tower in the north you can find a Medkit, just like south of the buildings. There’s a tank there as well, ignore it for now and kill the people in and around the tank hangar more south first. Then take care of the tank by throwing grenades underneath it from the back. Continue to the southern side of the big hangar, there’s the entrance you can use to get in. Take out the first enemies you see and immediately head right towards a stairs. Run past it and follow the eastern wall to the north until you reach a lever. Pull it to allow the reinforcements to enter the hangar. Keep an eye out for Medkits while running through the hangar taking out all opposition. Your final goal is the control room in the northwest. Shoot everybody inside and use the stairs in there to get to the roof. West of the V2 rocket’s front is a lever you need to pull, it will lower the rocket. Go back down as well and place a bomb on the front wheel supporting the rocket. Escape through the northern entrance and approach the fence. ___ ___ ____________________________________________________________________ | 3 | 7 | ROAD TO STALINGRAD | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ There are two enemies at the blockade ahead and a third sits inside the tollhouse. Take them out from afar and follow the road until someone signals to you on the right side of the road. Ignore the enemies for now and walk up to the man, then follow him into the basement. You’ll talk to a Russian and three team mates will be appointed to you. Pick up the items here, including a Medkit and a bazooka. Switch it for your slow firing Gewehr. Back outside you can pick a Revive before making a half circle to the right around the house. Take out the opponents and take cover behind the wall. Use the left trigger to look over it and shoot from cover while slowly moving south along the wall. Make sure the busted building more to the south is also free of enemies and take cover there to take out the people around the broken tank. On the southern hill is a working tank and quite a lot of Germans will come running down. Take them out from cover and get your bazooka to blow up the tank. The closer your are, the less shots it will take. Storm the hill on the right side and quickly shoot the people inside the trench. In the same trench is a fixed Nebelwerfer canon, use it to blow up the big canon ahead on the train tracks. From here you can also probably shoot some enemies around the canon or somewhere else on the other side of the water. At the start of the trench there’s an underground passage, kill the enemies there and pick up the items, including two Medkits. Make a reconnaissance walk along the water to the north to make sure everything is secure on this side of the water. Use the walls to take shelter, bullets will fly around you. When this side of the water is safe you can use one of the two bridges to get to the other side. It’s possible that one bridge will be or already is blown up, but take cover on the other side whenever you get there. Now it’s a matter of advancing bit by bit, clearing houses and taking out the remaining two tanks. One is located south, the other one northeast but it will only appear when you’ve beaten the one before that. Use your compass to find them and your bazooka to take them out, in one of the houses you can find more ammunition and if you run out you’ll always have your grenades. At the last tank you’ll also get a Revive. After destroying it you need to head east more, so that you’ll get a message about an ammunition depot. You must destroy it and it is now indicated on your compass. It will be heavily defended, so first go to the tallest building in the middle of the village, more allied soldiers are located there. From this house you can suppress a part of the opposition, upstairs there’s also a machinegun you can use. Ignore the many enemies around the church and graveyard for now, first take out as many Germans in the area around the ammunition depot northeast of the house. Move towards it crouched, place a bomb and seek shelter back in the house. After the explosion the amount of allied soldiers will increase. Approach them at the entrance of the fence around the graveyard and move south inside. You’ll come to a communication vehicle you have to blow up, a Revive will appear once you’ve done that. Now comes the hard part, storming the church. Hopefully you still have enough ammunition. Ignore all the guys at the graveyard and take the route south of the communication vehicle to the east instead. You’ll reach the southern entrance of the church, after shooting some more people and finding allied soldiers and a Medkit. This is a good time to use your Adrenaline, because inside there are a lot of soldiers waiting for you together with Walther Neumann. During your Adrenaline, first point all your attention to him and pick up the documents he leaves behind. The Russians will storm the church to defend it, you take care of remaining enemies on the top floor if there are any. Grab a machinegun at the western wall on the ground floor, where you defend the church by mowing down all the Germans that come running towards you. If you survive that you’ll finish the mission. ___ ___ ____________________________________________________________________ | 3 | 8 | CLIMBING MAMAYEV HILL | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Wait until the Russian finishes his speech and walk along with the tank and troops to the northeast. Hide between the houses, pick up the bazooka in the first house you get to and wait for the action to unfold. If you get far enough the location of a tank will be indicated on your map. Fight from house to house, kill all the enemies and check inside for items, work your way towards the tank and look out for the machinegun at the attic of a house. Take out the tank with your bazooka from close range or by throwing grenades underneath it. Pick up the Revive that appears on the spot of the tank. Clear all houses on the opposite side of the street the tank was on from enemies and approach the trenches more to the north. At the western end of those you’ll find the Russian officer, listen to what he has to say and try to take out as many enemies as possible on the other side from the cover of the trenches. Especially pay attention to the machineguns and enemies around the bridge you need to cross in a minute. Wait for storming new Germans and take them out as well, then get a Medkit from the lowered chamber in the trenches behind the officer. The machineguns will never stop, so sooner or later you’ll need to make an attempt to run over the bridge. Take shelter on the other side inside the tunnel, there’s also more ammunition for your bazooka there. Try to hit the tank in the west from here, it is very annoying. Then you need to neutralize as much resistance as possible now before you start to move again. If you think it’s doable, search for cover behind the walls on the other side of the road, rake care of everyone you can see and also clear the buildings around the intersection. When the coast is clear, head to the center of that intersection and press A to send a smoke signal. Head for cover right away in the tunnel or bunker before getting bombed. When it is over you can pick up a Revive at the intersection. From there you need to make your way up, starting with clearing the ditch next to the road and the tank next to that. Approach the ditch from the west, take out the occupants and check downstairs for items. Then destroy the tank by throwing grenades underneath it. From the tank you need to go east, where there probably are a few of your men already. Make sure the bunker left of the gate isn’t used. There are ditches on both sides of the gate with about two men per ditch inside. Shoot them from afar and approach the gate. Place the bomb in the middle and take some distance from the explosion. You’ll immediately get the objective to take out Franz Gruebner. First look inside carefully to determine the situation and try to shoot down as many Germans as possible from the opening of the gate, including Gruebner. Watch out for the tank on the other side of the area. This is also a good occasion to use your Adrenaline again. When Gruebner is defeated, head south from the opening of the gate and enter the staircase. Take out the sniper in the tower, grab the Medkit and go back down. Three artillery canons are placed along the south side of the building, guarded by the necessary enemies. Work your way east while blowing them up one by one. Next to the building on the south side there are more trenches with multiple bunkers. Walk from one side to the other to remove the Germans from it and then return to the inside of the building in the south eastern corner. Shoot your way through to the bigger room up north, where multiple enemies are located both upstairs and downstairs. If you don’t have the Heavy Water documents yet at this point, you need to go back outside at the square to pick them up where you killed Franz Gruebner. Return back to this tower, where you can find radio equipment at the end of the upper floor. Use it so send the intelligence through and destroy the boxes at the bottom of the lowest stairs by placing a bomb on it. ___ ___ ____________________________________________________________________ | 3 | 9 | MISSION TO ROCHERATH | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ You’ll be dropped right into the action and firing back doesn’t help much, so crouch and hide behind the wall to avoid being hit. Move along the wall crouched to the west, on the way there you’ll pass a Medkit and a bazooka on the floor which you need to pick up. A bit further you’ll reach a detonator and a tank will come across the road from the east. Wait until it reaches the middle of the S-bend north of you and then use the detonator to damage the tank. While you’re waiting you can take out the gunner behind the machinegun in the southwest. The explosion will not destroy the tank, so run after it so you end up behind the house west of where you came from. There are a lot of opponents south and there are machineguns in the other buildings up north. So take cover inside the busted house right away en ignore the machineguns in the north, point your attention towards the enemies in the south. The first thing you do there is get your bazooka out and really destroy the tank now, if necessary with grenades after that. Try to eliminate as many enemies in the park as well before you make a run for the entrance of the southern mill. Shoot two guys inside on the stairs. Pick up the Medkit and go upstairs, carefully take out the enemy inside and check whether there are more enemies outside on this floor. You’ll of course also pick up the Revive. Outside there is more ammunition for your bazooka and inside there’s a sniper rifle. Use it to take out the enemies in the west from up here in the mill. A tank will drive up to the mill from the east and it stops on the other side of the mill, destroy it with your bazooka. From the mill you have a better view of where remaining Medkits for example are located, so go downstairs to collect them. North of the mill there’s also some kind of canon which you can use to damage a tank further ahead. To continue you need to head over to the big green plume of smoke in the southwest, you’ll get to the allied headquarters. You can see placed explosives and another one of those canons again to the right. You’ll need those, because the base gets heavily attacked as soon as you talk to the commander inside. You’ll get the documents required for this mission from the commander and there’s ammunition for your bazooka behind him. Search the entire house fro items, including Medkits, and move upstairs to join the fight. First point your attention towards the right two tanks, destroy them using your bazooka. Take out as many men as possible, go back down and press the detonator in the room left of the entrance. Jump through the window on the left to get to the canon, quickly press A and run back inside while the canon blows the tank to pieces. Take your time to reorganize and then head to the new green smoke plume at the entrance of the church. Enemies will storm outside, so shoot them and carefully go in. Pick up the Medkit at the altar and if possible take out the tank you can see through the hole by shooting at it with your bazooka. In the northeast of the church is the church tower, that’s where Folker Kappelhoff is hiding. So carefully make your way upstairs and use Adrenaline to kill him the moment you see him. Halfway up the tower you need to press A at a hole in the wall to send through the artillery coordinates, after which you pick up the C2 next to the fallen soldier all the way up in the tower. On your way down you’ll find the Revive next to a Gewehr Scoped. Pick it up and take out some of the opposition from here in the buildings on the other side. When you get back down again and enter the big church hall, enemies will break through the gates in the west and north so that the place will be crawling with Germans. Try to take cover in the church tower and to take them out one by one. As soon as it’s safe, exit through the northern gate and search the buildings to find items and take out remaining enemies. You can find a bazooka against the north wall and there are some allied soldier waiting for you to take out the machineguns more to the east. Follow them along the wall more to the east and you’ll come to an open area behind a broken wall. The entire German army is located behind it, so take cover and shoot everyone that comes through. Use your bazooka to take out the tank on the other side, you can also do that from the house south of the opening in the wall. Then you need to get closer and take on the enemies behind the tree at the opening. After that the biggest danger comes from the machineguns more to the right, you can’t advance before you take them out. Then take cover behind the wall left of the tree and the ramp leading down and shoot the enemies behind the wall on the opposite side and the ones you can already see hiding underneath the bridge. That bridge is your goal, so descend and take care of the last enemies under the bridge. Place a bomb on the left side underneath the bridge to blow it up. ___ ____ ___________________________________________________________________ | 3 | 10 | FARMHOUSE LIBERATION | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Follow the road until you see the bridge, on the left of it is a busted windmill and to the right a watermill. Hide behind the wall to the left of the road and open fire on the enemies ahead. First shoot the Germans behind the machineguns in the watermill, but sometimes you need to switch weapons to take down enemies that come to close. A part of the enemies in and around the house will come your way sooner or later, so just wait what happens and take them out one by one. When you continue, skip the bridge by going alongside it on the left through the creek. Get the Medkit and hide underneath the bridge. Enemies will appear upstairs and downstairs at the windmill, one of them behind a machinegun. Clear them and head inside, where there might be one or two more Germans. Upstairs in the tower you will find a Medkit amongst other things and it’s a good spot to take out enemies you can see downstairs. Return downstairs and now clear the watermill for ammunition and a Medkit. Leave the mill and approach the wall around the farm area in the south. Take cover behind it and use your sniper rifle to take out as many enemies as possible, starting with the gunners behind the machineguns. When everything is quiet again or when you run out of bullets, approach the blockade at the opening in the wall. Quickly place a bomb and get out of there even quicker because of the explosion. Run inside through the opening and seek shelter behind a wall. Here is the first artillery canon, but further east there’s a working tank. Ignore the canon for now and try to get behind the tank, where you can place a bomb to blow it up and also find a Medkit. After that destroying the artillery canon you ran past is a bit easier, but still watch out for enemies in the buildings. Don’t forget to pick up the Revive near the blown up tank. South of it is the next artillery canon, but first you need to take out the people behind it. Then blow up the canon and secure the barn in the southeast, you’ll find bazooka ammunition and a Medkit there. It’s now probably safer to go back to where you entered the barn area, to head to the western barn for a Medkit and to approach the last artillery canon from the north. This is because you’ll have more protection there and you’ll need it for the many men in and around the house. Work your way to the artillery canon and blow it up once it is safe enough to place a bomb. Then enter the house through the broken north-western corner and pick up the shotgun behind the Christmas tree. Climb the stairs in the next room and make sure there aren’t any enemies here, you’ll also find a Medkit. Through an open window next to the top of the stairs you can access the top floor of the hay barn. Kill everyone downstairs from there, before you head back and check the ground floor of the hay barn. Secure the entire building, grab the two Medkits in the east and find the entrance to the basement in the corner. Blow up the doors and carefully walk through the passage behind it. When you go around the corner on the left you will see Manon, Freber Engel is hiding in the opposite corner. Aim from cover and shoot a couple of round every time his head pops up. Only take some more distance when he throws a grenade. After beating Engel, Manon is freed and now part of your team. Pick up the bazooka in the corner and the documents at the spot where Engel died. The farm is then under attack by a few tanks and troops, so quickly go up to the hay barn and return to the room with the stairs leading up. Look out of the windows on the top floor of the hay barn to spot the tanks in the south, two will come through the entrance into the area. Take out the first one from here with your bazooka and let your team cover your back, a lot of men will come up here. Up here there’s also more ammunition for your bazooka, but if you run out you can go back to the basement where Manon was with Engel and grab some more. Now you have to keep yourself alive long enough to take out both tanks and all attacking troops. ___ ____ ___________________________________________________________________ | 3 | 11 | OPERATION: VIRUS HOUSE | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Again you’ll land right in between the action, with a lot of allied soldiers and tanks but of course also enemies. Move north crouched through the trenches and grab the Medkit. Ahead you’ll find a bazooka you need to pick up and further down another Medkit on a table. Climb out of the trench to hit the detonator next to the rocket launching canon, it will take out the first tank. The jump into the trench more to the north and eventually follow the route west. When you look south from there you’ll see a green plume of smoke and when you go in that direction you’ll come to a trench where you can press A to call in an air strike, which will destroy the tank that came up close to you. Use it for cover afterwards while heading west and you’ll get the objective to destroy three more tanks, they will be indicated on your compass. There’s a pretty open area between you and the tanks, so try to take out a few men here. Then sprint towards the tanks and immediately take cover in one of the trenches. Through the northeast you can easily walk around the large tanks and approach the first one from the side. First take out the machineguns on the other side of the valley or you’ll get hit too much. Place a bomb on the back side of the first tank and take some distance before it explodes. A driving tank will circle along the rear of the tree stationary tanks, through the valley. Wait until it passes by and then make your way to the second tank. Also blow this up by placing a bomb on the back. Keep watching out for the western machineguns though. Do the same with the third tank, after which you explore the whole area again for items and remaining enemies. Behind the last tank your Revive will appear in the valley as a reward. Also clear the other side of the valley to find lots of ammunition for your bazooka. At the northern end of the valley you’ll meet an allied soldier who tells you to follow him. So walk behind him and his colleagues and keep your pace to stay clear of the blasts. At the trenches you can make your way west again, so take care of the first few enemies and hide in their trenches to clear the bunkers one by one. You should also have enough ammunition for your bazooka to take out the two tanks standing there. More west there’s a road heading up the mountain. When you get too close, troops will come running down followed by a tank. Only take out the troops and then approach the tank, it will be destroyed by a bunch of planes that come flying by. Turn around at this hill and approach the second bunker from the left, the one just south of the most northern one. There’s a briefcase in here containing the documents you needed to find. Then it’s time to climb the mountain, but it can be pretty busy up there. It’s probably a good moment to use your Adrenaline after walking up to the tank and jumping out from behind it. Also try to take out the gunners behind the machineguns on both sides of the bunker’s entrance door along with it, even though they will be quickly replaced. Take shelter in a ditch on the left and take out remaining enemies one by one. Approach the bunker’s entrance when you can and place the bomb, after which you take cover right away. Approach the entrance again carefully, there’s a machinegun aimed at you further down the hall. Take out the gunner and the rest you can see. Walk inside a bit further every time until enemies appear and then quickly run back outside again. Try to do everything from the bunker’s entrance, if necessary with your bazooka and grenades. After taking out about three groups of three you can walk past the machinegun. There’s a Medkit in the room on the left, then take the other route to the right. A timer will start and Von Schrader will speak to you. Now time and brute force is of the essence, so take out the first enemies around the corner and grab your bazooka or grenades to take out the storming enemies. Von Schrader is also here, but he keeps running away. Eventually you will end up outside, where Von Schrader is standing behind a machinegun on the top right. This is the most dangerous part of the level. Throw some grenades outside and lure enemies from there cover. Make a run to the left, make sure all the places enemies are dead and then watch Von Schrader and the enemies that jump down from his position. You’ll have to beat an entire army here, so use Adrenaline to help you out a bit. Point your attention towards Von Schrader, when he is dead you can clear the remaining enemies and head back inside where you came out. From there you can now walk up to the location where Von Schrader was, to pull the lever at the machines before time runs out. Still look behind you to shoot Germans if they appear, you can’t die before you officially completed the mission. +---+------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 4 | C O N C L U S I O N | +---+------------------------------------------------------------------------+ ___ ___ ____________________________________________________________________ | 4 | 1 | FINAL WORD | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Medal Of Honor Rising Sun was an embarrassment in the previously excellent Medal Of Honor series I was a huge fan of. Even my nickname, Patterson, came from the first Medal Of Honor on the PlayStation. The first level, the graphics and the A.I. of the characters made it look like European Assault wasn’t much better than Rising Sun. I was completely wrong, because it’s a good comeback from the series and the fact that there was a bounty to win with the guide was only a reason to start this guide sooner, because I already planned to do it. ___ ___ ____________________________________________________________________ | 4 | 2 | CREDITS | ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ELECTRONIC ARTS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Apparently they’ve recognized there faulty Rising Sun and did something about it.
