Introduction [0004] ############################################################################### Hello, welcome to my Weapon Guide for Medal of Honor: European Assault. I am a fan of the Medal of Honor series and I feel like helping you guys out with all the information on the weapons in the game as much as possible. I wrote this guide because there has been questions about weapons and this guide will help answer those questions. The only subject that I left out of this guide was the multiplayer weapons. I left out that topic because, well honestly, I couldn't find out what weapons they were. Plus, nobody would really want to know about the multiplayer weapons when they are very similar to the campaign weapons. If this Guide helped, or if you just enjoyed it, recommend it to fellow Gamefaqers, using the link on the banner at the top. You can consider me an experienced Guide author. I have written a few Guides, if you would like to see them, follow this link and check them out: http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/recognition/70722.html Hope this Guide helps... ############################################################################### 5. I'll cover as much as I can about the weapons in the game. Not much else needs to be said... =============================================================================== a. Semi-Automatic Rifles [0006] =============================================================================== Rifles that fire a large caliber bullet, have above average accuracy, and have good range. A semi-automatic rifle can fire round after round without the need for cocking. This is because of Newton's Third Law, for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. When the bullet is fired it cocks the rifle. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I. M1 Garand [0007] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The standard rifle of the U.S. infantry during WWII. This rifle has good power, range, and accuracy. It is only semi-automatic, however, it still has a perfectly capable fire rate. Use this rifle for any long range gun fight. It can be used at close range if you can press the fire button quickly. Its only fault might be its 8-round clip, but that's ok for a rifle. Many believe the M1 Garand was one of the biggest contributors to the allied victory of World War II. It was first designed by John C. Garand, a Canadian who lived in the United States, and eventually proved itself enough to be mass manufactured for immense use by US forces. It was used through both WWII and the Korean Conflict until eventually being replaced by the M14 and the M16. Round Size: 7.62x63mm Clip Size: 8 Fire Mode: - Semi-automatic Levels Used: - (01) Operation: Chariot - (03) Lights Out in the Port City - (04) Escape at Dawn - (11) Operation: Virus House ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- II. Gewehr 43 [0008] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This German semi-automatic rifle is very similar to the M1 in many ways. Its great overall and it can hold two more rounds per clip. May not seem like much, but trust me, it comes in handy. Its just too bad that it is only used on one mission, oh well. The Gewehr 43 was the first German semi-automatic rifle to be put into service. Hitler wasn't interested in the production of a semi-auto weapon, he was more towards the Kar98 and other bolt-action rifles. Because of this, it became mainly a German specialists weapon during the War. Those who used this weapon were highly trained, and knew this weapon head-to-toe. Round Size: 7.92x57mm Clip Size: 10 Fire Mode: - Semi-automatic Levels Used: - (07) Road to Stalingrad =============================================================================== b. Bolt-Action Rifles [0009] =============================================================================== A rifle that requires you to cock it after each round fired. They have excellent accuracy and great range. They also fire a large bullet. These guns are most useful for sniping, not close quarters. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I. Kar98 [0010] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Another German rifle, but this one is bolt-action. Bolt-action rifles are great for accuracy and precision, but they lack the fire rate that a mobile soldier needs. Use this rifle for long range sniper situations. Just don't use it for assaulting an enemy position, it won't help much. It also can only hold 5 rounds a clip, which means more vulnerable reload sessions. First produced in 1898 by the Germans, the Kar98 was an aging, bolt-action rifle, being outclassed by semi-auto and assault rifles. It was used through both World Wars. It was extremely accurate, but at the cost of a bolt-action loading system. It may also be known as the Mauser 98, Mauser being the producer. Round Size: 7.92x57mm Clip Size: 5 Fire Mode: - Bolt-action Levels Used: - (01) Operation: Chariot - (02) Raid On St. Nizaire - (03) Lights Out in the Port City - (04) Escape at Dawn ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- II. Moisan-Nagant 1891 [0011] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This old school Soviet bolt-action rifle comes in handy during one mission, the eight mission, Climbing Mamyev Hill. This rifle will become helpful by allowing you to snipe the German machine gunners. It is very similar to the Kar98 in its aspects, having high accuracy, range, and power; and low rate of fire and clip size. In the end, this is a good weapon, but its too bad its not available on more missions. The Moisan-Nagant 1891 was a Soviet rifle first produced in 1891. It was used through both World Wars as the standard rifle. Very basic in terms of design, but it still got the job done. Due to cost and time, the Soviets could not keep pace in making these rifles fast enogh for the war, so Soviet generals would give one soldier an unloaded rile, and the the next soldier a five round clip. When either soldier dies the other would pick up the clip or rifle, depending, load it, and continue to fight. Round Size: 7.62x54mm Clip Size: 5 Fire Mode: - Bolt-action Levels Used: - (08) Climbing Mamyev Hill =============================================================================== c. You can see them as pistols that can fire in full auto or as small machine guns. These guns are great for unloading on groups of enemies. They don't have much range, accuracy, or power, but they do have high fire rates so use them for close quarters combat. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I. Thompson [0013] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The famed American sub-machinegun is, of course, in another WWII FPS. Its an ok weapon in this game. Its got all the standard abilities of a sub-machinegun, but with more power. I love using this weapon just because I love it in real life. Its great for taking out clumps of enemies from their flank. It does have only a 20 round clip though, so watch out. John T. Thompson began his company by buying John Blish's design of the soon to be M1A1 Thompson in 1916. The first Thompson experimental submachine gun appeared in 1919, and first production model appeared in 1921; it was manufactured under contract by Colt Firearms Manufacturing Co, as well as later M1928 models. Production of M1928A1 and M1 submachine guns were carried out by Auto-Ordnance and Savage, and some licensed copies were manufactured by B.S.A. in Great Britain. The first Thompson gun to see some military use was Model 1928, used by the US Navy during its expedition in Nicaragua. This military test proved the Thompson to be a very useful weapon. Round Size: .45 Caliber Clip Size: 20 Fire Mode: - Full-automatic Levels Used: - (01) Operation: Chariot - (02) Raid On St. Nizaire - (03) Lights Out in the Port City - (04) Escape at Dawn - (10) Farmhouse Liberation ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- II. MP40 [0014] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The standard German sub-machinegun, its got very high fire rate capabilities, but at the cost of a low powered bullet. Good though, with its 32 round magazine. Use it only at close range because it really lacks at power at a close range. Good weapon, but be aware of its advantages and disadvantages. Before the start of WWII, Germany was in need of a compact sub-machine gun. The MP40 was the solution to this problem. First produced by the German gun company Erfurter Maschinenfabrik Gmbh (Trade name Erma), it was called the MP38; M for machine, P for pistol, and 38 for model of 1938. The improved version came out in 1940, being called MP40, obviously. This weapon was mainly given to officers or vehicle operators because of its compact size. Round Size: 9mm Clip Size: 32 Fire Mode: - Full-automatic Levels Used: - (01) Operation: Chariot - (02) Raid On St. Nizaire - (03) Lights Out in the Port City - (04) Escape at Dawn - (05) Operation: Blindfold - (06) Operation: V2 Silence - (07) Road to Stalingrad - (09) Mission to Rocherath ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- III. PPSh [0015] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This Russian sub-gun is pretty standard, but it boosts a very useful 71 round drum magazine. Its great for time of extended firing. I like it, but I'm disappointed that it is only used on two missions. Probably my favorite sub-gun to use in this game. It also has more power than the MP40, but not nearly as much as the Thompson. The PPSh-41 (Pistolet Pulemjot Shpagina model of 1941) was one of major infantry weapons of Soviet troops during the Second World War. Total number of PPSh's manufactured during WWII estimates to more than 6 million. The gun became one of the symbols of the Great Patriotic War. Retired from the Soviet Army service soon after WWII, the PPSh was widely exported to some pro-Soviet countries around the world, including China, Vietnam and many African countries. It was effective, but a somewhat crude weapon, reliable in combat but not without certain flaws. It has a somewhat excessive rate of fire, and its drum magazines were uncomfortable to carry and prone to feeding problems once the spring was weakened. Round Size: 7.62x25mm Clip Size: 71 Fire Mode: - Full-automatic Levels Used: - (07) Road to Stalingrad - (08) Climbing Mamayev Hill =============================================================================== d. Machine Guns [0016] =============================================================================== Guns that fire rifle bullets in full auto. They are great for mowing down squads of enemies. They are very useful in all situations. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I. BAR [0017] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is a very powerful, American automatic rifle. The BAR, aka Browning Automatic Rifle, is a great weapon in this game. Its probably the third best weapon in the game. I love its power for a machine gun, it far out classes any sub-machine gun in this game. Use it in any situation, it'll work anywhere. The Browning Automatic Rifle was designed by the famous American arms designer John Moses Browning late in the First World War, on the request from the US Expeditionary corps in Europe. It fired the large caliber 7.62x63mm round, as used in the M1 Garand. This machine gun weighed twice as much as the Garand though, and had a tremendous recoil, making it hard for the weapon user to manage in combat. Round Size: 7.62x63mm Clip Size: 20 Fire Mode: - Full-automatic Levels Used: - (09) Mission to Rocherath - (11) Operation: Virus House ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- II. StG44 [0018] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The best weapon in the game, in my opinion, is the StG44. Developed and manufactured by the Germans, this is the first assault rifle to ever be produced. It uses a bullet in between the size of a pistol and a rifle. I would use it on any mission you get the option to. Its just a great weapon, use it, love it. This weapon, known as a world's first assault rifle, was developed in Germany during the Second World War. Hitler first did not approve of this new class of weapons, so it had to be tested under the name of MP, or Machine Pistol (In English). Once a first prototype was constructed, it was tested in front of Hitler, and to make a long story short, he was dazzled and ordered them to make more. Round Size: 7.92x33mm Clip Size: 30 Fire Mode: - Full-automatic Levels Used: - (08) Climbing Mamayev Hill - (10) Farmhouse Liberation - (11) Operation: Virus House =============================================================================== e. Enfield Scoped [0020] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Enfield was Britain's standard, bolt-action rifle for both World Wars. It has fantastic accuracy and range, but the aging bolt-action firing style lets it down. The best part though, is that in European assault it comes ready with a scope. Great for the long range North Africa battles. One round in the head should be enough to bring an enemy down. The SMLE Lee-Enfield was the British standard rifle through both World Wars and beyond. It was known for its accuracy and reliability, but became famous for being used by dozens of countries and for nearly 70 years. A great match for the Kar98 and far superior in accuracy to any semi-auto rifle. Round Size: 7.7x56mm Clip Size: 5 Fire Mode: - Bolt-action Levels Used: - (05) Operation: Blindfold - (06) OPeration: V2 Silence ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- II. Gewehr 43 Scoped [0021] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This was the German specialized weapon of WWII. It was Germany's first semi-auto weapon to be put into combat. Its similar to the M1 Garand in many ways, but the Gewehr can hold an extra two rounds. What makes it so great though, is the fact that it comes with a scope. Use it carefully. Round Size: 7.92x57mm Clip Size: 10 Fire Mode: - Semi-automatic Levels Used: - (09) Mission to Rocherath ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- III. M1 Garand Scoped [0022] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As with the Gewehr 43, the M1 Garand comes with a scope sometimes and without one sometimes. The M1 Garand alone is a fantastic weapon, and if you put a scope on it, its just, perfect. Very helpful for taking down enemies before they see you. It can also be used for close quarters shootouts, with its semi-auto firing ability. These weapons are powerful, but only at close range. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I. Shotgun [0024] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What would a game be without a shotgun? This can be used with great results when fighting in urban areas. It'll take down an enemy, and launch him a few feet, if you blast him from a close range. Use when needed, and you'll beat the mission in no time. Not sure what shotgun its supposed to be, but it could be the Ithaca model 37, or possibly just a random hunting shotgun. Its probably just a standard 12 gauge capable of bringing down targets at close range. Round Size: ? M1911 [0026] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My favorite pistol ever, the M1911 was first manufactured in 1911, and is still seen in use today. That proves something about how good it is. Its got above average abilities in every category for a pistol, and it has excellent power for a pistol. Use it like any other weapon, it can do the job. The Colt .45. Also known as the M1911 (Pronounced Em - Nineteen - Eleven). The M1911 was made in 1911 by John M. Browning. It was standard issue from 1911 to 1985, and is still used today by some U.S. forces. The M1911 was one of the first semi-automatic pistols. It uses the recoil of the bullet fired to eject the shell and load in the next round. The M1911 fires the .45 ACP round, which is favored for its high stopping power. It has a muzzle velocity of 800 ft/s and is effective up to 75 yards. Mounted Machine Guns [0027] =============================================================================== Machine guns that are mounted to a fixed position. They carry endless amounts of ammunition and are very powerful. Use them when you see them. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I. MG42 [0028] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The MG42 was the standard LMG of the Germans during WWII. It has very good capabilities and a crazy high rate of fire. They are mounted to sandbags, barrels, boxes... so you can't carry them. Use them if you find them. With adoption of the MG34 machine gun the Wehrmacht had the weapon that was certainly capable in combat. The MG34 bears the distinction of being the first practical, general purpose machine gun. While the MG34 was good, it certainly was not ideal. German experts wanted their machine guns to fire faster, while being simpler and less costly. A high rate of fire was desirable both for AA applications and for flanking fire against targets moving through the battlefield. The answer was the MG42; cheap, powerful, blazing fire rate, and user friendly. The MG42 soon became the primary machine gun and saw combat until the war's end. RPGs [0029] =============================================================================== RPG is short for Rocket Propelled Grenade, which literally means you pull the trigger and a grenade propelled by a rocket comes shooting out. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I. M9 Bazooka [0030] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is your multi purpose rocket launcher. It can take out tanks, troop emplacements, anything that needs to be destroyed. It takes about 3 to 4 rounds to take out a tank. You'll know when to use it. The bazooka weapon was one of the first anti-tank weapons based on the HEAT shell to enter service, used by the United States Armed Forces in World War II and the Korean Conflict. It was nicknamed "bazooka" from a vague resemblance to the musical instrument of the same name. In addition to an actual bazooka, the term bazooka is often used to refer to all shoulder mounted tube weapons such as RPGs.
