Introduction / Credits / Help in section navigation ****************************************************************************** -------------- Introduction -------------- I recently got Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance from one of my friends. He found that the game was too difficult for him and thus decided to hand it to me. I can say the game is a great one. I absolutely loved the game, it has awesome graphics, great gameplay and impressive music. This is my first FAQ, so please excuse me if you find anything weird with it. If you wish to contact me, please refer to the section. This FAQ is written as detailed as possible to allow the understanding of readers. It is also written for the US-Playstation 2 and XBOX version of Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance (It may work on the Japanese version too, I've not tried it out yet. Any information on whether it works may be accepted and the contributor will be credited). And one more thing...this walkthrough is written for those who only want to complete the missions, and not for those who are bent on obtaining high scores. However, there are some strategies which may allow you to obtain a high score for that level. --------- Credits --------- Special thanks go to: GameFAQS : For making my FAQ be possible to appear online. Previous Stories and history of MGS ****************************************************************************** This section contains previous stories of Metal Gear Solid. The information and stories are taken from the Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance PS2 game manual. ====================================================== 5.1 The Outer Heaven Uprising, 1987 Game release date: 1987 ====================================================== FOXHOUND agent Solid Snake infiltrates Outer Heaven, a fortress-nation deep in the heart of South Africa, and destroys their prototype weapon Metal Gear, a walking tank with nuclear capability. In the process, he discovers that the leader of Outer Heaven is none other than Big Boss, the supreme commander of FOXHOUND, and puts an end to his former comrade's twisted schemes. ====================================================== 5.2 The Zanzibar Land Disturbance, 1990 Game release date: 1990 ====================================================== After surviving the Outer Heaven incident, Big Boss escapes to Zanzibar Land and sets up an independent military regime with the hope of creating a world of strife, the only kind of world a born soldier can truly enjoy. At the request of FOXHOUND, Solid Snake infiltrates Zanzibar Land and again destroys Metal Gear, which had been transferred to Zanzibar Land following the collapse of Outer Heaven. He triumphs once again in a final, decisive battle with Big Boss and ensures the downfall of Zanzibar Land. ====================================================== 5.3 The Shadow Moses Island Incident, 1998 Game release date: 1998 ====================================================== On Shadow Moses, a remote island off the coast of Alaska, FOXHOUND leads an armed uprising and seizes the new Metal Gear REX in the single biggest act of terrorism in history. At the request of the government, Col. Roy Campbell, the former commander of FOXHOUND, summons Solid Snake out of retirement and sends him to infiltrate Shadow Moses Island in one last solo covert mission. Snake must penetrate deep into the heart of a nuclear weapons facility. Aiding him in his mission are Dr. Hal Emmerich, aka Otacon, a former Metal Gear developer; Meryl, Col. Campbell's niece; and a team of top specialists in each field, who communicate with Snake via Codec. In the middle of his battle against members of FOXHOUND, Snake encounters a cyborg ninja, who thirsts only for battle. This mysterious figure's true identity turns out to be Grey Fox, Snake's former FOXHOUND comrade who defected to the enemy and fought against Snake in Zanzibar Land. After destroying Metal Gear REX, Snake confronts the head of the terrorist group, Liquid Snake, Each of the Snakes, Liquid and Snake, carries the genes of the 20th century's greatest soldier, Big Boss. With the support of the cyborg ninja, Snake fights a decisive battle with Liquid. After a long and protracted struggle, Snake finally defeats Liquid and leaves the legacy of Shadow Moses behind him. ****************************************************************************** 6. Controls (for PS2) ****************************************************************************** Controls are one of the most important elements in playing this game. To move around, to engage in a battle and to do many other things require actions, which require controls. Below are the controls and techniques for this game. Note: The controls here are only for the Playstation 2 version of the game. ============== 6.1 Movement ============== Many skills are needed to move around in this game. Mastering the basic moves is necessary to get through the game. --------------- 6.1a Sneaking --------------- In Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance, character movement control is pressure- sensitive. Pressing the left analog stick or digital pad in any direction allows the character to move in that direction. Pressing the left analog stick fully will allow the character to run, while pressing it lightly will allow the character to move slowly, which is known as 'sneaking'. Sneaking is an important method and tactic to escape the enemy's attention. ---------------- 6.1b Crouching ---------------- The character can be heard if he runs over objects that produce sound, which may alert nearby guards. To pass unheard, sneaking can be carried out or the X button may be pressed to allow the character to crouch. In this position, you can hide from enemies behind crates, boxes, containers, walls, etc. When crouching, the character can crawl by pressing the left analog stick or the digital pad. --------------- 6.1c Crawling --------------- As mentioned above in the section, this movement is activated by pressing the left analog stick or the digital pad when the character is in a couched position. Crawling comes into great use when moving through vents or under certain obstructions. Pressing the X button will allow the character to stand up. -------------- 6.1d Rolling -------------- When moving, pressing the X button will allow the character to roll. Solid Snake will dive across the ground and perform a somersault. Raiden will perform a torso-axial flip. Both rolling methods can be used to knock down enemies. A roll can be used to dive from corner to corner to avoid character from being seen. Raiden's torso-axial jump can be used to jump over small gaps or to leap down stairs. --------------- 6.1e Swimming --------------- While in the water, the character can swim. The controls are the same for basic movement (left, right, up, down buttons or the left analog stick). To dive underwater, press the O button. While underwater, the O button can be pressed again to allow the character to swim forward. ============== 6.2 Hiding ============== Hiding from enemies is a very important tactic and getting away undetected is necessary to get through this game. Hiding can be done behind any opaque object that blocks the enemy's view of the character. ------------------------------ 6.2a Pressing against a wall ------------------------------ Move the character towards a wall and he will press his back against it. The camera angle will switch to in front of the character and you can see what is going on behind him. Pressing the X button while the character is pressed against the wall will allow the character to crouch, enabling him to hide behind low objects. -------------------- 6.2b Side-Stepping -------------------- This is another important tactic to master. When the character's back is leaned against a surface, he can side-step by tilting the left analog stick a little to the left or right, or by pressing the L2 or R2 button. This tactic can be used to look around corners or to cross ledges. The character can also crouch and side-step. Simply press the X button. ------------------------ 6.2c Knocking on walls ------------------------ You can allow an enemy to leave his patrol route by diverting his attention, then quickly run over to your destination. This is done by pressing the O button when pressed against a surface. The character will knock on the surface, creating sound to distract the enemy. If the enemy does not hear it, just knock on the surface a few more times. ------------------------ 6.2d Hiding in lockers ------------------------ If the character is being spotted by the enemy, he can hide in several places. One good hiding spot is the locker. To open a locker, face it and press the Triangle button. To hide inside it, go all the way in and the character will shut the door. Once in the locker, you will enter first- person mode. During a 'clearing' (activated when character is spotted), the enemy can see through the vents into lockers. How do you counter that move? Press the X button and the character will crouch. ============================ 6.3 Action Button Commands ============================ The Action button by default for the PS2 is the Triangle button. The Action button gains temporary functions during certain events in the game. -------------------- 6.3a Opening doors -------------------- Pressing the Action button will allow the opening of doors. ------------------------ 6.3b Calling elevators ------------------------ Face the call button of an elevator and press the Action button to summon it. To allow an elevator arrive more quickly, tap the Action button twice consecutively. ------------------------ 6.3c Climbing ladders ------------------------ Facing a ladder and pressing the Action button will allow the character to cling onto it. To allow the character move up or down, press the basic movement buttons (Up and down for digital pad or left analog stick). ------------------------------ 6.3d Climbing onto obstacles ------------------------------ Certain areas in the game are not accessible unless the character climbs over an obstacle. To do this, simply face the obstacle and press the Action button, allowing the character to climb over it. ----------------------------- 6.3e Hanging from a railing ----------------------------- The character can hang from a railing over the edge of a platform or walkway. The character will hop or flip over the railing and hang from it. From this position, the character can shimmy along the railing left or right by pressing the movement control buttons. The character can also drop from the railing to a lower level by pressing the X button. To get back on the platform or walkway, press the Action button again. ****************************************************************************** 7. Tips: What you must or should do when playing the game. ****************************************************************************** When playing the game, always remember these few pointers: - Always go into first-person mode when shooting an enemy. - Never make unnecessary sound or noise when navigating through the area. - Try not to kill anyone unless you really have to. - Always hide at a strategic location if you enter Alert Mode. - Always keep a distance from the enemy and be sure not to enter his cone of view. - Constantly look at your radar. Without it, you will find playing the game more difficult than anything. |-----------------------------------------------------\ | Guard tips / reminders (contributed by Logan Johns) \ |------------------------------------------------------------------------| | There are a few pointers to remember when handling guards: | | | | 1)If you tranquilize a guard and another one finds him and wakes him | | up, everything will return back to normal (You must not be seen). | | | | 2)If you happen to enter Alert Mode and you hide under an obstacle, | | the guards will immediately spot you if they are close to your | | position. | | | | However, if you are in Evasion Mode or Caution Mode and you hide | | under an obstacle, you will not get spotted even if a guard is near | | you. | | | |------------------------------------------------------------------------| There are many more pointers, but these should do. If you have any comments, suggestions or better pointers, please e-mail them to me. If it is accepted, full credit will be given to you. ****************************************************************************** 9. Alternative Missions - Raiden ****************************************************************************** These are the alternative missions for Raiden. It is not really that hard to get through the missions if you are a MGS2 veteran. However, if you are a newbie, don't worry...go through the section and you'll become a stealth expert in no time! Okay, let's begin. Note: There are a total of over 150 Alternative Missions in this game. ======================== 9.1 Bomb Disposal Mode ======================== In the Bomb Disposal Mode, you will be required to dispose bombs in an area. Given a reasonable time limit, you must dispose the bombs as quickly as possible to obtain a high score. If you are not satisfied with your score, you can always choose to restart that particular mission. ============================================================================= Level One Time limit : 7 min 00 sec Bombs : 2 Initial equipment: Sensor A (equipped), Scope, Socom, M9 (equipped, with suppressor), Chaff Grenades and Coolant. Venue : Shell Two Core ============================================================================= |----| |-------| |----| | |--------| |-------| | | | | |--- -|---------------------| | | | | | | | | |-------| |-----------| | | | |-----------------| | | | | | | |---------|-----------| | |---------| | | | |---------| | | | | START | |---------| |-------| | |---------| | | | | | | |-------|--| |--------------| | | |---| | | | | |----------------------------------|-----| Map contributed by Savior. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- When you begin, enter first-person mode and knock out the guard in front of you with your M9. Quickly unequip your M9 and drag the guard to your starting point, keeping him out of sight. Equip your M9 again and proceed to the wall beside the stairs. Lean against the wall and stay very near to the edge. Knock on the wall a few times to alert one of the guards, then immediately run north to the end of the passageway. Quickly enter first-person mode. When you see the guard investigating, tranquilize him, and drag him out of sight. Now go down the steps (be careful not to be spotted by the guard) and wait for the guard to turn away. Then sneak up to his back and take him out. Proceed west and up the stairs, then lean yourself against the wall, again, at the edge (notice the green area on your radar? That's the location of the bomb you need to dispose). You should see a guard coming out of a small passage, stretch his arms, look around, then return to his area. Now quickly run south towards the wall, enter first-person mode and shoot the guard at the other end of the passageway. The guard you saw earlier on will come out again. Tranquilize him. Another guard may come out of a room at the other end of the passageway...take him out too. Swiftly, proceed behind the crates in front of you and equip the Coolant. Spray on the bomb hiding behind some stuff until it freezes. The first bomb has been defused. Note: You can immediately rush to defuse the bomb and go on to the next one (that's what I did), but that would be risky. Going for the second bomb... Head back to your starting point and proceed north, then west. You will see a door. Enter it. I have drawn out a map to aid you in your second bomb disposal. __________________________________ | X | |___________| | |__________| | | S <--- Stand here | | | |__________ ______________| Shell 2 Core Air Purification Room | | | |__________| | | | | You ---> O | |__________________| After entering the room, you'll be at O. The bomb is just above the place marked X. Stand at Point S, equip the Coolant and defuse the bomb. You have completed your first bomb disposal mission. ============================================================================ Level Two Time limit : 10 min 00 sec Bombs : 2 Initial equipment: Sensor A (equipped), Scope, Socom, M9 (equipped, with suppressor), Chaff Grenades and Coolant. Venue : Engine Room ============================================================================ Defusing the first bomb is as easy as pressing a button on the controller. Head forward till you reach the first locker at your destination. The bomb is located directly above it. Equip your Coolant and dispose the bomb. Head back and go through the door on your left. Follow the route and down the stairs. Immediately take out the guard standing in front of you (what I did was I stood on the steps and took him out). Proceed forward and down the stairs again. Carefully hide behind the pillar before you and tranquilize the guard when he turns away. Continue west and follow along the path. When you reach the bomb location, you see a flight of steps and another route on the same level. Now you must be wondering where the bomb is...on the higher or lower level? The answer lies below the flight of steps. Position yourself facing the bottom of the steps and equip the Coolant. Defuse the second bomb to complete this mission. |--------------------------------------------------------------\ | Note for second bomb disposal (contributed by Eddie Fanning) \ |------------------------------------------------------------------------| | If you're having trouble with that guard snooping at you, wait at the | | lowest level, and back against the wall next to the stairs. He will | | investigate, but won't see you. As he leaves, follow him and shoot | | him. Proceed to freeze the final bomb. | |------------------------------------------------------------------------| ============================================================================ Level Three Time limit : 15 min 00 sec Bombs : 3 Initial equipment: Sensor A (equipped), Scope, Socom, M9 (equipped, with suppressor), Chaff Grenades and Coolant. Venue : Arsenal Gear ============================================================================ As you start out, head out of the door to your left, proceed south, then east. You'll immediately see the bomb in a sink. Dispose of it. Head all the way back to your starting point and proceed to the door on your right, into Arsenal Gear-Jejunum. Now this part is a little tricky...hide behind the large container and wait for the guard to turn his back on you. Put him to sleep, and then quickly drag him to your hiding place to keep him from being noticed by other guards in the area. Now, quickly run towards the central container and hide behind it. Once again, wait for the guard to look away and then tranquilize him without much difficulty. Continue forward and hide behind the central container at the end of the hallway. When the guard looks to the other side, send him to dreamland and head up the stairs on the left. Proceed all the way south until you see a guard. If you alert him run backwards and shoot him while he is investigating. If not, immediately knock him out when you see him. Continue south until you arrive at a pillar with a surveillance camera. Carefully sneak and stay under the camera. Then, equip your M9, enter first-person mode and take out the patrolling guard on the other side. Wait patiently till the camera faces north, then run south to the next bridge and sneak across it. Head north until you reach another bridge. Sneak to the center of the bridge, face Raiden to the right and enter first-person mode. Look down a little and there is your second bomb. Equip your Coolant to defuse it. Head back to where you started on this level (I know it's troublesome and remember to watch out for those cameras) and head across the first bridge you see. Sneak to the middle of the bridge, wait for the surveillance camera on the other side to face south, then quickly run across. Proceed east through the door to the Ascending Colon. As you enter, stop where you are and do not move! Enter first-person mode (or equip your Coolant immediately) and look at the upper left hand corner of the door from which you came in...ah...the final bomb. Dispose the bleeping device. ============================================================================ Level Four Time limit : 20 min 00 sec Bombs : 5 Initial equipment: Sensor A (equipped), Scope, Socom, M9 (equipped, with suppressor), Chaff Grenades and Coolant. Venue : Deck-A Crew's lounge ============================================================================ Beginning this mission, face left and head towards the lounge. There are three guards in this lounge. One is patrolling, the other two are sitting by the stairs loafing. DO NOT tranquilize the guards sitting on the steps because their bodies are strapped with the bombs! Slowly sneak towards the guards and go behind them, below the stairs. Equip the Coolant and spray their backs. After defusing the bombs, immediately switch to your M9 and hold the guards up (you should hear Raiden shout "Freeze!"), then tranquilize them. You should still be able to see the patrolling guard. If not, go out a little and knock him out. Proceed up the steps and enter the door on your left into Deck-B Crew's Quarters, Port. Take out the guard up ahead and drag his body into a safe place. Continue south till you see a patrolling guard on your radar. Wait for him to turn away and then take him out. I have, once again, drawn out a map to aid you in your third bomb disposal. | | | | | | | | | | __________| | | | |_X____ ____| | | | | | | ___ | | | |__________| |_________| | | A | |_____________________________| After taking out the guard from Point A, proceed to X. Equip the Coolant and freeze the bomb, which is above where you are standing. Head back to the place where you took out the first guard in this area and go through the door, out to the Aft Deck. Proceed down the staircase and go through the door at the bottom of the stairs into Deck-A Crew's Quarters. Go right, enter first-person mode and put the guard at the end of the passageway to sleep. Continue south and go through the first door into a room full of lockers. Open the locker beside the basin and there is the bomb... well, what else can I say but "Defuse the bomb"? For the final bomb... Go back to Deck-B and head up the stairs to Deck-C. Tranquilize the guard at the end of the passage way by entering first-person mode and head up the stairs to Deck-D Crew's Quarters. Enter the kitchen by going through the door on your left. Quickly take out the two guards in there or they will swiftly notice you, forcing you into Alert Mode, which I'm sure you do not want. Go to the cooking area, face the frying pans and equip your Coolant. Dispose the bomb, which is attached to one of the pans. Mission Complete! ============================================================================ Level Five (Final Level) Time limit : 25 min 00 sec Bombs : 5 Initial equipment: Sensor A (equipped), Scope, Socom, M9 (equipped, with suppressor), Chaff Grenades and Coolant. Venue : Strut B Transformer Room ============================================================================ Follow the path and put the patrolling guard outside the room to sleep. Enter the room and take out the guard in there. Go north of the room and where there are two control lockers. Close the opened locker door, look up, equip your Coolant and dispose the bomb. Exit through the door up north. Note: There is an AKS-74u you can pick up in the Transformer Room. Note: As you come out of the room, you will see three lockers in front of you. Open the middle locker to obtain a book, which is useful for distracting the enemy (You may not need it in this mission, though). Head out through the main door (orange in color) to the BC Connecting Bridge. Knock out the guard and go across...shooting the Cypher with your AKS-74u along the way. If it spots you, be ready to enter Alert Mode and take some damage. You'll see the bomb beside the big letter 'C' on the wall...dispose the bomb. Proceed through the door into the Strut C Dining Hall. Enter the women's room and look up, then right just as you enter. You will see the bomb. Freeze it with your Coolant. You must carry out all these as quickly as possible or else one guard will investigate the room. If he does, send him to his dreams. Go out and proceed north, follow the path and go out to the CD Connecting Bridge. Take out the guard on the upper level and go down to the lower level. Here, you must be quick and cautious because there are trap panels which will make you fall right into the sea. Keep running till you reach the floor panels on the right of the bomb (the middle of the two railings on the right of the bomb), which is attached to the railing. If you missed it, do a torso-axial jump over the broken panel (by pressing the X button). Dispose the bomb, then run all the way, up and right, to the Strut D Sediment Pool. As you enter, proceed north and follow the path round, taking out the two guards on the level along the way. Go up the steps onto the small, raised platform. Face right, enter first-person mode and look up. Freeze the final bomb. Congratulations! You have completed the Bomb Disposal Missions for Raiden! ====================== 9.2 Elimination Mode ====================== In the Elimination Mode, you will be required to eliminate guards in an area. Given a reasonable time limit, you must take out the guards as quickly as possible to obtain a high score. If you are not satisfied with your score, you can always choose to restart that particular mission. ============================================================================ Level One Time Limit : 2 min 30 sec Enemies : 4 Initial equipment : Socom (equipped) and M9. Venue : FA Connecting Bridge ============================================================================ As you begin your first elimination mission, switch your equipped Socom to the M9. Head out to the bridge and take out the two guards on the top level. Then head down the stairs to the bottom level and wait for the guard to turn away. Carefully tranquilize the guard and repeat the tactic for the next guard. Now head to the finishing point at the other end of the bridge (on the lower level). Mission completed! Note: If the guards on the lower level spot you when going down the stairs, quickly run back up and wait for him to investigate. While he is looking into the matter, quickly tranquilize him. ============================================================================ Level Two Time Limit : 2 min 30 sec Enemies : 3 Initial equipment : Socom (equipped) and M9. Venue : Deck-A Crew's Quarters ============================================================================ Again, switch your equipped Socom to the M9. Head south and follow the path till you see a guard on the radar. Head up his back and put him to sleep. Continue along the path and take out the next guard. Proceed to the next passageway and wait for the guard to turn his back against you. Shoot him. Note: If the guard sees your footprints and investigates, head into the room and hide in a locker. When the coast is clear, continue to eliminate him. Head to the finishing point, it's that simple! ============================================================================ Level Three Time Limit : 2 min 30 sec Enemies : 4 Initial equipment : PSG1, PSG1-T, Scope and Pentazemin (equipped). Venue : DE Connecting Bridge ============================================================================ Head to the opening and use a Pentazemin, then equip the PSG1-T. Take out the guard at the end of the bridge. Another guard from the bottom level will come up. Tranquilize him too. Now aim your rifle upwards and shoot the head of the guard guarding the higher bridge. Now aim a little higher and shoot the guard on top. Note: You may notice that your handling of the gun gets unstable after a while. Use a Pentazemin to stable it. Run all the way to the other end of the bridge (the level you are on) to the finishing point to complete the mission. ============================================================================ Level Four Time Limit : 2 min 30 sec Enemies : 4 Initial equipment : AKS-74u. Venue : Strut E Material Distribution Facility ============================================================================ Equip the AKS-74u and just simply run around the area and shoot at the guards. In no time they will all be wiped out and you can head south-east to the finishing point. ============================================================================ Level Five Time Limit : 3 min 00 sec Enemies : 4 Initial equipment : Claymore (equipped) and Stun Grenades. Venue : Shell One Core ============================================================================ This mission is an interesting one. You'll have to go around strangling the guards and you cannot use explosives as it will alert the others. Here we go! Unequip the claymore and stay where you are. Watch the radar until you see a guard heading into your area. Hide behind the wall next to the door and wait for the guard to come in. When he does, sneak up behind him and break his neck. Head east and down the two flights of steps. Wait for the guard to head west. Run up behind him and break his neck. You will see another guard heading towards your direction from the south. Run east to the other end , switch to first person mode and wait for him to emerge from behind the walls. When he begins to make his way back, quickly run up behind him and strangle him. One last guard to go... Head south and lean against the edge of the wall. Wait till the guard turns away and strangle him. You must be quick with him or he will spot you. Head to the finishing point. ============================================================================ Level Six Time Limit : 5 min 00 sec Enemies : 6 Initial equipment : Socom (equipped), M9, Stun Grenades, RGB6 and claymore. Venue : Shell One Core ============================================================================ As you start out, switch your Socom to the M9 and head east. As you come out, take out the guard heading north. Quickly head south, follow the path and enter the room through the door. Watch your radar. When you see the guard just outside the other end of the room turn away, head out and tranquilize him. Head to where the guard fell and take out the other two guards in the area, be quick. Proceed all the way north and again, take out the two guards here carefully. Now head back where you took out the third guard to the finishing point. Note: If you run out of ammo while using the M9, use the Socom. ============================================================================ Level Seven Time Limit : 5 min 00 sec Enemies : 7 Initial equipment : Socom (equipped), M9, Stun Grenades, C4 and Stinger. Venue : Shell Two Core ============================================================================ Equip your M9 and stay where you are. Face left and enter first person mode. Wait for a guard to past by and quickly shoot him. Head out and wait for the guard up north (watch your radar) to head east. Run behind him and hold him up, tranquilize him. Head out, south and down the stairs. Quickly sneak behind the guard and take him out. Proceed west and shoot the other guard (If he has gone up the stairs quickly take him out). Head up the stairs and run south to the wall. Enter first person mode and tranquilize the guard at the other end of the passageway. Grab the M9 ammo lying on the floor. Head all the way north and face right. Enter first person mode, shoot the final guard. Head to the finishing point to end this mission successfully. ============================================================================ Level Eight Time Limit : 5 min 00 sec Enemies : 5 Initial equipment : Socom (equipped), M9, Stun Grenades, Grenades, Stinger and Claymore. Venue : Strut F Warehouse ============================================================================ Equip your M9 and head out, taking out the first guard. Now take out the other guard across where you are standing. From the top, you can eliminate the other two guards on the lower level. You must aim correctly or you will be out of ammo very quickly. If met with this situation, you have no choice but to break the guards' necks. If you took out all four guards using the M9, you'll be out of ammo. Switch your weapon to the Socom and head north, hiding behind the wall. Wait for the guard to turn away and shoot lead into his head. Head to the finishing point downstairs. ============================================================================ Level Nine Time Limit : 5 min 00 sec Enemies : 7 Initial equipment : Socom (equipped), M9, PSG1, PSG1-T, Stun Grenades, RGB6, C4, Scope and Pentazemin. Venue : Arsenal Gear - Jejunum ============================================================================ Now this mission is a little tough. Switch your equipped Socom to the M9 and quickly take out the first guard you see. Head to the center of the screen (still behind the two big containers), use a Pentazemin and equip the PSG1-T and zoom in to the right. Eliminate the guard that appears. Head to the central container and then up ahead to the right container. A guard on top should spot you. Quickly hide behind the central container and take him out when he is not prepared (look at your radar). If he doesn't spot you, continue up the stairs and take him out. Head up the stairs to your right. Proceed west, then south to collect the Night Vision Goggles. Carefully head north till you see a guard. Take him out. From there, you can equip either your PSG1-T or PSG1 to eliminate the guard on the lower level, remember to use the Pentazemin as well. By now, your M9 and PSG1-T would be empty. So switch to the Socom and continue forward. Take out that guard up ahead. Head to the center of the bridge and equip your PSG1. Make sure there are no other guards around. See the only guard on the lower level, zoom in and shoot. Run over to the finishing point. Now onto the final mission! ============================================================================ Level Ten (Final Level) Time Limit : 5 min 00 sec Enemies : 7 Initial equipment : Socom (equipped), M9, PSG1, PSG1-T, Stun Grenades, Grenades, RGB6, Nikita (empty), Claymore, C4, AP Sensor (equipped) and Pentazemin. Venue : Engine Room ============================================================================ This is the toughest mission so far, so be really prepared! You are not provided with a radar in this mission, so now you are on your own. However, you do have an AP Sensor. When an enemy is near you, your controller will vibrate faster. Starting this mission, follow the path and head out through the door, down the stairs. Take out that guard. Continue north and head down the stairs, sneaking up behind that guard and eliminating him. |---------------------------\ | Note about Thermal Goggles \ |------------------------------------------------------------------------| | There is a pair of Thermal Goggles at the starting point. From the | | starting point, head north to the lockers and look around for the | | Thermal Goggles. Equip if desired. | | | | With the Thermal Goggles, you will be able to see all guards, which | | includes camouflaged ones. Now you can deal with the guards at ease. | |------------------------------------------------------------------------| Note: Be careful with the guard below the long flight of steps because he has the stealth camouflage equipped. I suggest you stay on the steps till you figure out his position before shooting him. It all depends on your skills here. |----------------------------------------------------------------------\ | Alternative Strategy (Use this if you don't have the Thermal Goggles) \ |------------------------------------------------------------------------| | After eliminating the first guard, head south and lean on the railing. | | You'll be able to see the camouflaged guard. After he turns away, hang | | and drop down, taking him out. Beware of the guard on the other side, | | though. | |------------------------------------------------------------------------| From here, take out the other guard across the other side (he's holding a shield). If he spots you, run to the other end and enter first person mode, wait for him to investigate and take him out. You can also choose to use the PSG1-T. It's all up to you. Head to the other side, then north to collect the Socom ammo. Equip your Socom if your M9 has run out of bullets. Head south and follow the path till you reach the bottom of a flight of steps. Enter first person mode and take out the guard on the highest level. Now quickly equip your PSG1 rifle, use a Pentazemin and kill the camouflaged guard. Head up the small steps, to the right and head north. Take out the guard and grab the M9 ammo. Equip your M9 now. Head back and go up the long flight of steps. See that guard over there, send him to bed. You should be able to see the finishing point on the highest level. Head north and follow along the path, heading up the two staircases and to the point. Mission Completed! Congratulations! You have completed the Elimination Missions for Raiden! ============================================================================ Just to tell you what I did after playing through the missions: I was typing the walkthrough on my laptop and playing at the same time. After completing the missions, I exited without saving. Can you believe it? Anyway, my concern was this walkthrough. So I really want to add a little tip here, though you may find it stupid: Never press your buttons too quickly when navigating the menu and always save your game after playing. ================== 9.3 Hold Up Mode ================== In the Hold Up Mode, you will be required to hold up guards in an area. Given a reasonable time limit, you must take out the guards as quickly as possible to obtain a high score. If you are not satisfied with your score, you can always choose to restart that particular mission. To hold up a guard sneak up or run behind him and aim your gun at him. If done correctly, you will hear Raiden shout "Freeze!". ============================================================================ Level One Time Limit : 3 min 00 sec Enemies : 1 Initial equipment : Socom (equipped, empty), M9 and Coolant. Venue : BC Connecting Bridge ============================================================================ This is a very simple mission. Switch to your M9 and head out to the bridge and quickly rush to the guard and hold him up when he turns away. If you are slow, he will immediately turn around and spot you and this mission will end. Head to the finishing point. ============================================================================ Level Two Time Limit : 3 min 00 sec Enemies : 2 Initial equipment : Socom (equipped, empty), M9 and Coolant. Venue : Strut A Pump Facility ============================================================================ Actually, you don't really need to switch your weapon as you are not going to shoot the guard. So head out of your starting point. Go around the square area and hold up the first guard you see. If the other guard spots you, run back to where you began. Head south and follow behind the second guard around the crates. At the right timing, hold him up. Head to the finishing point to complete the second Hold Up Mission. ============================================================================ Level Three Time Limit : 3 min 00 sec Enemies : 4 Initial equipment : Socom (equipped, empty), Box 3. Venue : Shell One Core ============================================================================ Grab the book lying to your right and head out through the right door and down the two flight of steps. Watch the radar and when the guard nearest to your position turns away, hold him up. Wait for the second guard to turn away and head east. Quickly run behind him and hold him up. Proceed north and equip Box 3. Stop moving when you reach the entrance of the computer area. When the guards turn away, unequip the Box and hold him up. Quickly equip the Box again to avoid detection by the other guard Repeat the same Box method for the final guard, and then head to the finishing point. You have completed Mission Three. ============================================================================ Level Four Time Limit : 3 min 00 sec Enemies : 2 Initial equipment : Socom (equipped, empty), M9, book and Coolant. Venue : AB Connecting Bridge ============================================================================ As you start out, head outside and hold up the first guard you see (it's very simple, trust me). If he is reporting, wait till he finishes and hold him up, or else an investigation will be carried out and you will fail your mission. I have drawn out a map to help you hold up the second guard. ----------------------| A | -----------------| | | | | ------------------- | | X | ------------------- | | | | | | | | -----------------| | B | ----------------------| Equip the Book and place one at X. Wait for the guard to arrive at point A and let him spot you. When he proceeds to investigate, quickly head to point B and hang down the railing. When the guard sees the Book, he will get excited and bend down to read the Book. Now is the chance to strike. Run up to him and hold him up. Then head to the finishing point to complete the mission. ============================================================================ Level Five Time Limit : 3 min 00 sec Enemies : 4 Initial equipment : Socom (equipped, empty), M9 and Coolant. Venue : Strut B Transformer Room ============================================================================ Grab the two Books lying behind you and head west, then leaning against the wall. Watch the two guards. When they turn away, quickly run over and hold both of them up. Note: There is an alternative strategy for holding up the first two guards. As you start out, head into the way of the two guards, keep a distance from them and place the two Books on the floor. Hide behind the wall. If done correctly, the two guards will bend down when they see the books. Head out and hold them up. (It's very cool to see them have the both reactions when they see the books and when they are being held up.) Head inside the Transformer Room through the south door. As you enter, get Box 1 lying on the floor. Equip it and run north, holding up the third guard. If he turns around, stop moving (your Box is still equipped, unequip it to hold the guard up). Proceed down the stairs south of the room and hold up the final guard when he turns away. Head out through the door north of the room to the finishing point. ============================================================================ Level Six Time Limit : 3 min 00 sec Enemies : 5 Initial equipment : Socom (equipped, empty), M9, book, Box 1 and Coolant. Venue : Strut F Warehouse ============================================================================ Wait patiently until the two guards north of your starting point turn away, then hold up the guard nearest to your position. Now quickly head back to your starting position. When the other guard comes over and turns away again, sneak behind his back and hold him up. Proceed north and hold up the guard on the other side of the level. Head down the stairs. Again, wait patiently till both guards turn away. Now quickly run behind the nearest guard and hold him up. |---------------------\ | Alternative Strategy \ |------------------------------------------------------------------------| | There is an alternative strategy for holding up the last two guards. | | As you head down the stairs, equip the Book and lure a guard to it. | | While he is engrossed reading the Book, hold him up. | |------------------------------------------------------------------------| Circle around the room and go behind the final guard, holding him up. Head to the finishing point. Mission completed! ============================================================================ Level Seven Time Limit : 3 min 00 sec Enemies : 4 Initial equipment : Socom (equipped, empty), M9 and Coolant. Venue : Deck-B Crew's Quarters ============================================================================ Starting this mission, head east and follow the path, holding up the first guard you see. Again proceed all the way north till you see another guard on your radar. Wait behind the wall for him to turn his back towards you. Hold him up. Go along the path and you will see another guard on your radar. Lean against the wall and hold him up when he is off guard. Continue south along the path and hold up the final guard. Now head back to your starting point. The finishing point is there. ============================================================================ Level Eight Time Limit : 3 min 00 sec Enemies : 8 Initial equipment : Socom (equipped, empty), M9, book and Coolant. Venue : Arsenal Gear - Jejunum ============================================================================ In this mission, you'll have to hold up eight enemies, which is no easy task. Head out and hold up the first guard. Be quick or he will spot you, instantly terminating the mission. Hide behind the central container and wait for the other guard to turn away. Hold him up. Head all the way north till you see a guard. Carefully sneak up behind him and hold him up. Now quickly head back south and hide behind one of the containers when the guard comes to investigate. When turns away, you should know what to do. Continue north and go behind the guard, holding him up. Continue forward and head up the staircase on the left. Proceed all the way south until you reach the third bridge. Watch your radar. When the guard on the other side turns away, sneak across and hold him up. Head back to the other side and go to the second bridge. Again, watch your radar. When the guard across turns away, head across and hold him up. Now head north and hide behind the obstacle. Wait for the guard up north to head the other way and quickly run over to hold him up. Continue north to the finishing point, completing this mission. ============================================================================ Level Nine Time Limit : 3 min 00 sec Enemies : 5 Initial equipment : Socom (equipped, empty), M9 and Coolant. Venue : Strut E Material Distribution Facility ============================================================================ You start out on the roof of the Strut E Material Distribution Facility. Head east, then north until you see a guard in the middle of lots of containers. When he faces the other way, quickly hold him up. You will see another two guards just left of your position. Watch their movements on the radar. When you see them moving sideways to the left, run up to them and hold both of them up at the same time. Don't worry, it's simple. Head a little to the left until a guard spots you. Quickly run south and when you see him investigating, get behind him and hold him up. Holding up the final guard is even simpler, just follow behind his back around the containers and hold him up. Now head north to the Jet Fighter, where the finishing point is. ============================================================================ Level Ten (Final Level) Time Limit : 3 min 00 sec Enemies : 7 Initial equipment : Socom (equipped, empty), M9, AP Sensor and Coolant. Venue : Shell Two Core ============================================================================ Again, you have no radar provided for your final mission, so you just have to rely on your AP Sensor. Do not head out immediately or you will get spotted. Enter first person mode and wait for a guard to past by, then proceed to hold him up. Head north, then east through the door into the Air Purification Room. Be careful as there is a camouflaged guard in the room. I have drawn out a map to help you handle him. __________________________________ | | |___________| | |__________| | | | | X | |__________ ______________| Shell 2 Core Air Purification Room | | | |__________| | | | | You ---> O | |__________________| The guard will be standing at point X. Enter first person mode and watch him carefully. When it seems that he is facing the other way, hold him out. Get out of the room. Continue south and down the steps. Hide behind the large container...there another camouflaged guard here. Go behind him and hold him up. When you see another guard coming by, circle around the area and sneak up behind him. Do your job. Continue west and up the stairs, hiding behind the wall. Quickly head through the door on the east wall just around the stairs. In there is a camouflaged guard. Hold him up and head out of the room. When the guard at the other end of the room heads south and then north again, go behind him and hold him up. Beware as there is another guard up north in stealth camouflage. Hide in the room or go further south until you see him turn away (you need to have sharp eyes), then go behind him and hold him up. Note: If you have trouble locating the final camouflaged guard, switch to first person mode and quickly look around, then hold him up. Head to the finishing point. Congratulations! You have completed the Hold Up Missions for Raiden! ===================== 9.4 Photograph Mode ===================== In the Photograph Mode, you will be required to take photos in an area. Given a reasonable time limit, you must take the photos correctly as quickly as possible to obtain a high score. If you are not satisfied with your score, you can always choose to restart that particular mission. To take a photo, equip the Digital Camera and press the Shoot button. To zoom in, hold onto the button used to confirm menu options. To zoom out, press the Circle button (PS2) or the A button (XBOX). ============================================================================ Level One Time Limit : 5 min 00 sec Photos to take : 1 Initial equipment : Digital Camera Venue : BC Connecting Bridge ============================================================================ You must take a photo of a statue in this area. Head to the right of the room. Now face the two lockers on the right and equip the Digital Camera. Look up on the right locker...there is the statue. Take a photograph of it to complete your first photograph mission, quite interesting isn't it? ============================================================================ Level Two Time Limit : 5 min 00 sec Photos to take : 1 Initial equipment : Digital Camera, Book Venue : Deck B Crew's Quarters ============================================================================ Here, you need to take a photograph of a guard jumping. To do this, proceed north and lay about six Books, spread out, on the floor when you reach the corner of the wall. Knock on the wall to attract a guard and head south, keeping a distance from him. Quickly equip your Digital Camera. When you see the guard jumping with excitement, take a photograph! You have to be accurate or the mission will end in a failure. Mission completed! ============================================================================ Level Three Time Limit : 5 min 00 sec Photos to take : 1 Initial equipment : Digital Camera and M9 Venue : Deck-A Crew's lounge ============================================================================ In this area, you need to take a photograph of the "!" caption that appears above a guards head. Face left and enter first person mode. Wait for a guard to appear and shoot the glass panel. Now immediately switch to your Digital Camera, zoom in on the caption and take a photograph! Once again, you have to be quick to complete this mission. ============================================================================ Level Four Time Limit : 5 min 00 sec Photos to take : 1 Initial equipment : Digital Camera and Nikita (empty) Venue : Navigational Deck, wing ============================================================================ This mission is fun. You have to take a photograph of the stars that appear above a guards head when he is unconscious. As you start out, head up the staircase and get behind the guard. Knock him out by equipping the Nikita and giving him a hard knock on the head by pressing the punch button. When he is unconscious, equip your Digital Camera and take a photograph of the stars spinning above his head to complete the mission. ============================================================================ Level Five Time Limit : 5 min 00 sec Photos to take : 1 Initial equipment : Digital Camera, AP Sensor and M9. Venue : Aft Deck ============================================================================ You have to take a photograph of a wandering ghost for this mission. Head west, equip your M9 and tranquilize the guard. Continue forward along the path and heading down all the staircases. Head south and out to the large area. You will see a guard there...that is the ghost. Equip the Digital Camera and take a photograph of him to complete the fifth mission. ============================================================================ Level Six (Final Level) Time Limit : 5 min 00 sec Photos to take : 1 Initial equipment : Digital Camera, USP Venue : Deck-2, port ============================================================================ Now, again, you'll have to take a photograph of ghosts. They only appear in the darker areas of the port. Head all the way forward until you reach a small opening on the right. Equip the USP and shoot out the light bulb there. See the ghost? Complete your final mission (isn't it a little too short? I sure loved the photograph taking sessions!). Congratulations! You have completed the Photograph Missions and all the Alternative Missions for Raiden! Give yourself a pat on the back. ****************************************************************************** 10. Alternative Missions - Ninja Raiden ****************************************************************************** These are the alternative missions for Ninja Raiden. To unlock Ninja Raiden, you must complete 50% or higher of Raiden's VR and Alternative Missions. Here we go! ========================== 10.1 Bomb Disposal Mode ========================== In the this Mode, you will be required to dispose bombs in an area. Given a reasonable time limit, you must defuse the bombs as quickly as possible to obtain a high score. If you are not satisfied with your score, you can always choose to restart that particular mission. ============================================================================ Level One Time Limit : 7 min 00 sec Enemies : 2 Initial equipment : HF Blade (equipped), Sensor A, Sensor B (equipped), Scope and Coolant. Venue : Shell Two Core ============================================================================ |----| |-------| |----| | |--------| |-------| | | | | |--- -|---------------------| | | | | | | | | |-------| |-----------| | | | |-----------------| | | | | | | |---------|-----------| | |---------| | | | |---------| | | | | START | |---------| |-------| | |---------| | | | | | | |-------|--| |--------------| | | |---| | | | | |----------------------------------|-----| Map contributed by Savior. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- You will have Sensors A and B to help you in your bomb disposal. Sensor A detects bombs that can be disposed at close range, while Sensor B detects bombs that can only be disposed at a certain distance away from the bomb. Head out and take out the first guard you see. Then head north, then south and through the door into the Air Purification room. Hear the beeping sound getting faster? The bomb is nearby. As you enter, go left a little, just a little, a floor tile away from the west wall, and crouch down. See the bomb (enter first person mode)? Equip the Coolant and dispose the bomb. Equip your HF Blade and head back out of the room. Continue south and down the stairs. Take out the snoozing guard (be careful not to go too much to the left or the bomb will be activated, just stand at the bottom of the steps and kill him). Proceed to kill the guard on the other side. Climb onto the stack of containers near you, face the vent in the north wall, crouch down and equip the Coolant. Defuse the final bomb in it. ============================================================================ Level Two Time Limit : 10 min 00 sec Enemies : 2 Initial equipment : HF Blade (equipped), Sensor A, Sensor B (equipped), Scope and Coolant. Venue : Engine Room ============================================================================ As you start out, head forward and out through the west door. Continue south and down the two flights of stairs. Watch your radar. When you see a guard heading towards you, rush out and proceed to silence him. Continue along the path north and down the staircase and rush over to the guard, then slash him wildly. Head left across the small bridge and continue south a little. You see that bomb on the crate to your right (on the other side)? Equip the Coolant and spray at it. Going for the second bomb... Switch your equipped Sensor B to Sensor A and equip your HF Blade. Continue down and along the path. Head up that small flight of steps. If the guard above spots you, hide away and kill him when he comes over to investigate. Ignore the long staircase and proceed north. Wait for the guard on the other side to turn away (if he is near you), then rush in for the kill. Otherwise, just run all the way north and take him out when he is facing north on the other side. Proceed south (if you have not crossed the small bridge, do so) and to the two large containers. Head to the lower left corner and face Raiden to south. Equip the Coolant and freeze the bomb directly in front of you to complete the mission. ============================================================================ Level Three Time Limit : 15 min 00 sec Enemies : 3 Initial equipment : HF Blade (equipped), Sensor A, Sensor B (equipped), Scope and Coolant. Venue : Arsenal Gear - Stomach ============================================================================ Starting this mission, head through the left door into the torture chamber. Head to the torture machine (the big machine in the middle of the room), don't go too close. The bomb is at the base of the machine. Crouch down, let Raiden lie on the floor and equip the Coolant to dispose the bomb (it's dark green in color). Now head back to your starting point and out through the right door into Arsenal Gear - Jejunum (remember to equip your HF Blade). Knock on the container and take out the guard when he investigates. Now head up the stairs on your right. Watch your radar while hiding behind the wall. Wait for the guard to look away, then show him your blade skills. Continue north until you reach a gap in the floor. Face north and equip the Coolant. Look up and dispose the bomb under Metal Gear Ray's lower jaw. Now equip your HF Blade. Head across the bridge to the left (beware of the surveillance camera on the pillar) and kill the guard up north when the surveillance camera faces south and when he heads north (confusing?). Continue forward and carefully head down the first section of the stairs. Crouch down at the starting of the lower section of the stairs and equip the Coolant. Look through the railing on the right and you should see part of the bomb. Do your job. ============================================================================ Level Four Time Limit : 20 min 00 sec Enemies : 5 Initial equipment : HF Blade (equipped), Sensor A, Sensor B (equipped), Scope and Coolant. Venue : Deck-A Crew's lounge ============================================================================ As you begin, quickly head to the left and take out the two guards loafing. Stick to your left and carefully head up the steps. Stand on the left where the door is located, face right and equip the Coolant. See the bomb on top, freeze it. If you can't reach it, head down the steps near the door a little and try again, but be careful not to get spotted by the patrolling guard. If he does spot you, head through the door and return again. Now head through the door into Deck-B Crew's Quarters, equipping your HF Blade at the same time. Head north and kill the guard, then follow along the path (right, then south), taking out the other guards swiftly at the same time. When you go all the way south and reach the bottom most passageway, get to the middle, then a little to the left. Equip the Coolant and look up, do your disposing. Equip your HF Blade and head all the way north, following the path. When you arrive at where you started here, head north a little and then east through the watertight door into the Aft Deck. Equip Sensor A. Head down the stairs, head all the way south and then up the next flight of steps you see. Climb onto the obstacle, face the pole and equip your Coolant. Look up and you will see the bomb on the right of the pole. Freeze it. So far, so good. Equip your HF Blade and head back into the Crew's Quarters. Proceed up the steps and head east, killing the guard too. Continue all the way to the right and get behind those crates you see. Equip the Coolant, face the crates and look through the gap. See the bomb? Dispose it. Equip Sensor B and switch to your HF Blade again. Proceed left and head up the stairs at the middle of the passageway. Watch your radar. When you see the two guards in the canteen face to the left, rush in and take them out. Go to the cooking area and stop moving when you reach the stove. Face left and crouch down. Equip the Coolant and look above the stove. Defuse the bomb. ============================================================================ Level Five (Final Level) Time Limit : 25 min 00 sec Enemies : 5 Initial equipment : HF Blade (equipped), Sensor A, Sensor B (equipped), Scope and Coolant. Venue : Strut B Transformer Room ============================================================================ Switch the equipped Sensor B to Sensor A. Then follow along the path and eliminate the patrolling guard. Be careful not to proceed too far north or the surveillance camera will spot you instantly. Now, the guard in the Transformer Room should be alerted. Get behind the wall and wait for him to investigate. End his life. Get into the room and exit through the door up north. Turn left and head south along the passageway (again, beware of the cameras). Get under the first camera, do this carefully. Face south. Crouch down and equip the Coolant. Look through the railing and spray the Coolant wildly until you hear the sound when you are disposing a bomb. Spray at that area until you hear the bomb freeze. Equip Sensor B and your HF Blade. Head out through the main door (orange in color) to the BC Connecting Bridge. Wait patiently for the Cypher out there to descend, then rush towards the guard and kill him. Hide at the entrance of Strut C till the Cypher is out of view, then get to the middle of the bridge, to the broken bridge area. Stop moving when you get near the broken railing. Crouch down and equip the Coolant. Look down towards the sea and you will see the bomb strapped to the broken railing on the right. Defuse it. Do all these quickly or the Cypher will force you into Alert Mode. Now let's go for the third bomb. Equip Sensor A and head north, through the door into the Strut C Dining Hall. Proceed north and kill the guard, fast. Go into the dining area through the north door. Just as you enter, equip the Coolant. Look to the left and spray the box you see, defusing the bomb. Equip the HF Blade and head out east through the main door to the CD Connecting Bridge. Get to the lower level and run all the way to the other side of the bridge. When you hear a beeping sound, stop in your tracks. Hang down the railing and you should see where the bomb is. Now get back up on the platform. Do a torso-axial flip across the gap in the floor to the other side of the platform (on the left, the way you came from). Face the bomb position and equip the Coolant. Crouch and dispose the bomb. Equip your HF Blade and flip back across. Head up the stairs (be careful of the Cypher) and go right, through the door into Strut D Sediment Pool. Equip Sensor B as soon as you enter. Get to the middle of the level and eliminate the two guards quickly. Head north and hang down the railing just below the other main door. Drop down, but quickly tap the Triangle button (PS2) or the Y button (XBOX) to hang down the railing below. Get up onto the platform. Face the bottom of the staircase and equip the Coolant. Crouch if needed. See the bomb just below the stairs? Freeze it to complete the toughest mission in this mode! Congratulations! You have completed the Bomb Disposal missions for Ninja Raiden! ======================= 10.2 Elimination Mode ======================= In the this mode, you will be required to eliminate guards in an area. Given a reasonable time limit, you must take out the guards as quickly as possible to obtain a high score. If you are not satisfied with your score, you can always choose to restart that particular mission. ============================================================================= Level One Time Limit : 2 min 30 sec Enemies : 5 Initial equipment : HF Blade Venue : FA Connecting Bridge ============================================================================= As you begin your first elimination mission, switch your HF Blade to Tranquilizer Mode by pressing the shoot button once. Head out to the bridge and take out the two guards on the top level. Then head down the stairs to the bottom level and wait for the guard to turn away. Carefully tranquilize the guard and repeat the tactic for the next two guards. Now head to the finishing point at the other end of the bridge (on the lower level). Mission completed! Note: If the guards on the lower level spot you when going down the stairs, quickly run back up and wait for him to investigate. While he is looking into the matter, quickly tranquilize him. ============================================================================= Level Two Time Limit : 2 min 30 sec Enemies : 4 Initial equipment : HF Blade Venue : Deck-A Crew's Quarters ============================================================================= Again, switch your HF Blade to Tranquilizer Mode (TM). Head south and follow the path till you see a guard on the radar. Head up his back and put him to sleep. The guard in the room should be alerted. Head back to your starting point and wait for the guard to investigate (He will see your footprints), then quickly take him out before he makes a status report. If he does not come out of the room, then just proceed. Continue along the path and take out the next guard. Get into the room and take out the next guard. Exit. Proceed to the next passageway and wait for the guard to turn his back against you. Attack him. Note: If the guard sees your footprints and investigates, head into the room and hide in a locker. When the coast is clear, continue to eliminate him. Head to the finishing point. ============================================================================= Level Three Time Limit : 2 min 30 sec Enemies : 4 Initial equipment : HF Blade Venue : DE Connecting Bridge ============================================================================= Switch your HF Blade to TM. Head to the opening and run over the other side of the bridge. Quickly take those guards. Get down the stairs and eliminate the other guard there. If he comes up to the upper level, attack him before he goes down. Continue along the lower level and pierce your Blade through the final guard. Run all the way to the other end of the bridge (the upper level) to the finishing point to complete the mission. ============================================================================= Level Four Time Limit : 2 min 30 sec Enemies : 4 Initial equipment : HF Blade Venue : Strut E Material Distribution Facility ============================================================================= There are surveillance cameras here. Be careful not to get spotted. Switch your Blade into TM and just simply run around the area and attack the guards. In no time they will all be wiped out and you can head south-east to the finishing point. Note: It doesn't matter if the guards are alerted. Just be quick in taking them out and they will not be able to report. This applies to the other missions in this mode. One more thing...make sure you don't get killed with all that guns aimed at you. ============================================================================= Level Five Time Limit : 3 min 00 sec Enemies : 4 Initial equipment : HF Blade Venue : Shell One Core ============================================================================= Switch that Blade to TM and stay where you are. Watch the radar until you see a guard heading into your area. Hide behind the wall next to the door and wait for the guard to come in. When he does, sneak up behind him and break his neck. Head east and down the two flight of steps. Wait for the guard to head west. Run up behind him and take him out You will see another guard heading towards your direction from the south. Run east to the other end , switch to first person mode and wait for him to emerge from behind the walls. When he begins to make his way back, quickly run up behind him and do your tranquilizing. One last guard to go... Head south and lean against the edge of the wall. Wait till the guard turns away and attack him. You must be quick with him or he will spot you. Up north there will be another guard. If not, he would be around that area. Do your job. Head to the finishing point. ============================================================================= Level Six Time Limit : 5 min 00 sec Enemies : 9 Initial equipment : HF Blade Venue : Shell One Core ============================================================================= As you start out, switch your Blade to TM and wait for the two guards outside to disperse (watch your radar). Now head east. As you come out, take out the guard heading north. Proceed north and take out the guard swiftly as you turn around the corner. Quickly head south (do this or you will get spotted), follow the path and taking out the guard at the same time. Then enter the room through the door. Note: If the guard gets into the room, follow him. There will be another guard in the room. You should no what to do. Now look at your radar. See many guards outside? Take your time. Do everything slowly. Watch your radar. When you see the guard just outside the other end of the room turn away, head out and tranquilize him. Wait for the guards up ahead to turn away. Head north and then east into a small area, take out the guard in the area, be quick. Now proceed north and run up behind that guard, tranquilizing him. Proceed all the way north and again, take out the two guards here carefully. Now head back where you took out the guard in the small area to the finishing point. Note: The last two guards may spot you instantly after you tranquilize the seventh one. Just rush in for the kill. It should be an easy job. ============================================================================= Level Seven Time Limit : 5 min 00 sec Enemies : 9 Initial equipment : HF Blade Venue : Shell Two Core ============================================================================= Switch the HF Blade to TM and watch your radar. When you see the guard up north turn away, head out and north. Lean against the wall at the edge and knock once. The guard should be alerted. When he investigates, eliminate him. Now the guard in the Air Purification Room should be alerted. Quickly head up and stand in front of the door. When he emerges, do your job. You must do all this very swiftly to avoid detection. Head out and then south. Lean against the wall at the edge near the small flight of steps. Wait for the guard to come up to your level. Quickly tranquilize him. Note: If the guard below is alerted, quickly take him out. Carefully head down the steps and go around the crates, taking out the next guard. Head west and eliminate the guard, too. Head up the steps and lean against the wall. When you see the guard nearest to your position turn away, get into the small area and be a blade master. Wait for the guard up ahead to turn away, then rush in for the kill. Another guard should appear. If he spots you, take him out. If not, wait for him to turn away then eliminate him. Take out the final guard near the finishing point and end the mission. ============================================================================= Level Eight Time Limit : 5 min 00 sec Enemies : 7 Initial equipment : HF Blade Venue : Strut F Warehouse ============================================================================= Switch your HF Blade to TM and head right...lean against the wall and knock on it once. Run inside the room through the door. Now watch your radar. When you see the guard investigating then entering the room, grab this opportunity to take him out. Head out and stand at the corner of the wall just outside the door. When you see a guard up north walking past, knock once on the wall. Repeat the above strategy. If he gets away, wait for him to turn away, get out and rush towards him. Eliminate the guard on the current level by tricking him around and sneak behind his back to tranquilize him. Continue north and eliminate the guard here. Then head down the stairs. Now this part requires some skill. Slowly distract the guards on the lower level to the upper level, one by one. Then eliminate them. For the final guard, leave him on the lower level. Have some fun with him and head to the finishing point. Mission Completed! ============================================================================= Level Nine Time Limit : 5 min 00 sec Enemies : 8 Initial equipment : HF Blade Venue : Arsenal Gear - Jejunum ============================================================================= Quickly head out to the central container and knock on it. When the guard investigates, go round behind him and tranquilize him. Now head north and hide behind one of the two containers on the side. When you see the guard up ahead heading left or right (depending on where you are standing), get behind him and eliminate him. From here, rush towards every guard and hack-and-slash wildly. Eliminate anything in your way and this mission will be soon over (I am not trying to be lazy here, but this is the best way I can think of...any alternative strategies for this mission may be accepted). Head to the finishing point. Note: Remember to crouch behind a corner to heal up when you are low on health. Just to let you know...I obtained a Top Record Code by using the strategy above. That means, if I can do it, so can you! =D --------------------------------------- | Calling all alternative strategies! | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- | If you have an alternative strategy to this Level, be it good or bad, | | please do not hesitate to e-mail the strategy to me. You will be fully | | credited if your alternative strategy is accepted and added into my guide.| ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ============================================================================= Level Ten (Final Level) Time Limit : 5 min 00 sec Enemies : 8 Initial equipment : HF Blade Venue : Engine Room ============================================================================= This mission is a joke...really. Proceed forward and head out through the door. Continue south, following the path, and lure the guard up. Allow him to get you into Alert Mode (I'm serious...) and get back to your starting position. Wait patiently as the guards, one by one, enter. Take them out. If no guards appear for quite a long time, get out and stay at the door...when you see a guard (sometimes lots of them), quickly slash them wildly. Continue this until you've eliminated all the guards (it'll be quick...trust me). Head to the finishing point. Congratulations! You have completed the Elimination Missions and Alternative Missions for Ninja Raiden! Have a cup of coffee, sit back and relax... before you carry on to more missions! Note: You should be able to unlock Raiden X if you've completed all the VR and Alternative Missions of Raiden and Ninja Raiden, at this point. However, I heard that there are no Alternative Missions for Raiden X. Check back the next update and information on this should be updated. --------------------------------------- | Calling all alternative strategies! | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- | If you have an alternative strategy to this Level, be it good or bad, | | please do not hesitate to e-mail the strategy to me. Alternative Missions - Snake ****************************************************************************** These are the alternative missions for Snake. Nothing much to elaborate on. Begin now... ========================== 11.1 Bomb Disposal Mode ========================== In the this Mode, you will be required to dispose bombs in an area. Given a reasonable time limit, you must defuse the bombs as quickly as possible to obtain a high score. If you are not satisfied with your score, you can always choose to restart that particular mission. ============================================================================ Level One Time Limit : 7 min 00 sec Enemies : 3 Initial equipment : M9 (equipped), USP, Chaff Grenades, Sensor A (equipped), Scope and Coolant. Head out and proceed south. Stay at the top of the stairs and face the bottom of the stairs. Enter first person mode, take out that guard (he may be sleeping). Head down the stairs and tranquilize the other guard. Now climb onto the stack of boxes. Equip the Coolant, face left and look up to the ceiling. Freeze the bomb you see. Unequip your Coolant and equip the M9. Continue west and up the stairs. Quickly head into the room round the corner of the wall (there are two surveillance cameras in there, equipped with guns, so be careful). Stay under the camera to your north. Face right and equip the Coolant. Look into the vent in front of you and you will see the bomb. Dispose it. Now head out and left into the small area. Put that guard to sleep. Continue all the way north to the other end of the passageway and take out the guard. Get into the small room on the right...there is another guard here. Head out of the room through the north door opening and go right. Hear the beeping sound? Face the circuit breakers and equip the Coolant. Spray on the circuit breaker which has three bullet holes to get rid of the final bomb. Mission completed! ============================================================================ Level Two Time Limit : 10 min 00 sec Enemies : 2 Initial equipment : M9 (equipped), USP, Chaff Grenades, Sensor A (equipped), Scope and Coolant. Venue : Engine Room ============================================================================ As you start out, head forward and out through the door on the left. Hang down the railing, wait for the guard to walk away and drop down to the bottom level. Now head down the flight of steps till you hear a beeping sound. Stay there, equip the Coolant and look directly up. Defuse the bomb. Equip your M9 and proceed down the stairs. Wait for the guard here to turn away (watch your radar or enter first person mode) and head to the other side across the small bridge (on your left). Head south and follow the path. Continue up the long flight of steps. Take out the guard on this level. Now head north, following along the path and then up the stairs (just go up, up and up). Get into the room through the door (it's pretty straightforward here so I will not elaborate further). Now go north of the room to the watertight door. Face left, equip the Coolant, see the bomb and complete the mission by doing your job. ============================================================================ Level Three Time Limit : 15 min 00 sec Enemies : 3 Initial equipment : M9 (equipped), USP, Chaff Grenades, Sensor A (equipped), Scope and Coolant. Venue : Shell Two Core ============================================================================ Head out through the left door into the torture chamber. Get to the control panel south of the torture machine, crouch and let Snake lie on the floor. Equip the Coolant and defuse the bomb. Get back to your starting position and head out through the right door into Arsenal Gear, Jejunum. Get behind the first guard you see and immediately tranquilize him (if you don't do it swiftly, he will retaliate). Continue north and wait for the guard up north to turn away. Then rush in to tranquilize him. From afar, take out the final guard on this level. Now head up the stairs and get behind the container you see. Face right, crouch, equip the Coolant and dispose the bomb on top of the container on the lower level. Equip your M9 and head towards the first bridge. Wait for the surveillance camera on the other side to face south, then quickly run across, north, then east through the door to Arsenal Gear, Ascending Colon. Head all the way south till you hear the beeping sound. Stop. Face left and equip your Coolant. The bomb is under the double pipes. Defuse it. ============================================================================ Level Four Time Limit : 20 min 00 sec Enemies : 5 Initial equipment : M9 (equipped), USP, Chaff Grenades, Sensor A (equipped), Scope and Coolant. Venue : Deck A Crew's Lounge ============================================================================ Head left from your starting point towards the two guards sitting on the steps. Hide behind the bottom of the stairs, enter first person mode and tranquilize the two guards. From your position, look towards the lounge and take out the lone guard there. Head to the bartender area, punch and kick the bottles on display. See the beeping bomb? Equip the Coolant and defuse the bomb. Equip the M9 and head up the stairs (where you took out the first two guards) and go through the left door into Deck B Crew's Quarters. Take out the guard up north and head forward, following along the path and taking out the guards. Continue till you see the greenish area on your radar. Head towards that place and you will see a staircase. Head up the stairs, face north, equip the Coolant and turn 180 degrees around. Defuse the bomb. Head out to the Aft Deck through the watertight door at the bottom of the staircase. Once you are outside, head down the stairs and take out the guard as you proceed north. Continue west, taking out another guard, then head all the way north to the disposal gate (you should know where it is if you've played through Sons Of Liberty...fell free to ask questions on this section). Now you should see the bomb if you get to the edge of the ship. Equip the Coolant, look up and freeze the bomb. Equip your M9 and head back to the starting point at Deck B Crew's Quarters. Head up the stairs located west to Deck C Crew's Quarters. Tranquilize the guard at the other end of the passageway before he spots you. Head east till you reach the locker area. Equip the Coolant and look up at the cross-beam. You should see the bomb. If not, try looking around that area on the ceiling. You know what you should do... Tackling the final bomb... Head up the stairs you see after defusing the fourth bomb to Deck D Crew's Quarters. Proceed east, then north and through the door on the east wall into the food pantry. See the guard sleeping and the bomb there at his feet? Lure him away from his position and put him to sleep. Dispose the bomb. ============================================================================ Level Five (Final Level) Time Limit : 25 min 00 sec Enemies : 7 Initial equipment : M9 (equipped), USP, Chaff Grenades, Sensor A (equipped), Scope and Coolant. Venue : Strut B Transformer Room ============================================================================ Beginning the final mission, head east, then north and tranquilize the patrolling guard. Now head into the Transformer Room through the door on your right. Once inside, head down the stairs to the lower level, grabbing Box 2 at the same time. Head north and position yourself in the middle of the green area on your radar. Face left and crouch. Equip the Coolant. Defuse the bomb. Head out of the room through the north door, grabbing the PSG-1 lying on the floor too. Head to the BC Connecting bridge through the main door. As you head out, tranquilize the guard and stay under the entrance of Strut B (the place you just came out from). Turn around and face south. Equip the Coolant, look up and dispose the bomb. Equip the M9 and continue all the way north to the Strut C Dining Hall (beware of the Cypher while heading across the bridge). Get into the Men's Room and open the left cubicle's door. Face north and equip the Coolant. Look up, do your job. Head out, then north and follow along the path. Head out to the CD Connecting Bridge through the main door. Enter first person mode and tranquilize the guard as you head out. Again, there is a Cypher patrolling the area, so be careful. Head out and grab the USP Supressor, equipping it at the same time. Head down to the lower level by using the first flight of steps you see. Stop at the bottom of the second section of the staircase. Face the large pipe, equip your Coolant and defuse the bomb that is wedged in between the pipe and the upper level of the bridge. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- I currently have not much time to complete this section, so I will give you the locations of the last three bombs. I will write up a detailed walkthrough for the next update, so don't worry if you are stuck. Here are the locations of the last three bombs: Bomb #5: The upper level of the CD Connecting Bridge, in between two railings (look at the radar to comfrim the location). Bomb #6: Strut D, Sediment Pool. Get to the green area. The bomb is not accessible but you should be able to dispose it from your position. Be accurate in your aiming. Bomb #7: Strut D, Sediment Pool. Get to the lower level and the bomb is right on the railing above the door that leads to the DE Connecting Bridge. ****************************************************************************** 12. Alternative Missions - Pliskin ****************************************************************************** These are the Alternative Missions for Pliskin. To unlock this character, get 50% or more of Snake's Missions done. Note: This whole section was contributed by Masamune3, and will be remained unaltered. However, if you find any defects, please do not hesitate to correct me. You will be fully credited if your information is acceptable. ========================= 12.1 Bomb Disposal Mode ========================= Bomb Disposal Mode is derived from the bomb disposal that you do on the Big Shell. However, this time, you have a set amount of time to find them all, and get rid of them. To increase the difficulty, all of Pliskin's bombs can only be found with Sensor B, which means you need to keep your ears open, and your eyes fixed. What's more, because you are using Sensor B, you cannot come within 2 metres of the bomb, or else it'll explode. However, this can work to your advantage for that pesky bomb that you just can't seem to find - let it explode, then trace the source of the explosion. As a general rule of thumb, the first time through a level, take out all the guards, and then search for the bombs. Makes life 10 times easier, I assure you. Note: Only the bomb locations are listed here. If there are many requests to write up a detailed section, I will. ============================================================================ Level One Time Limit : 7 min 00 sec Bombs : 2 ============================================================================ 1) The small wall near the staircase that acts a railing. On the bottom level, near the crates. 2) Stuck to the side of the drink machine. ============================================================================ Level Two Time Limit : 10 min 00 sec Bombs : 2 ============================================================================ 1) On the top of a bunch of computer-type things in the room you start in. 2) Left side building, middle level, right in front of the bridge connecting the left building with the center island. ============================================================================ Level Three Time Limit : 15 min 00 sec Bombs : 3 ============================================================================ 1) On the light above the torture machine. 2) On the top of the southern staircase in the room in the Jejunum. 3) Underneath the ration found in the Ascending Colon. ============================================================================ Level Four Time Limit : 20 min 00 sec Bombs : 4 ============================================================================ 1) Near the back of the large pane of glass in the area you start in. 2) Between the wall and the side of the locker in the centre group of lockers in the Deck A locker room. 3) The little room near the crates blocking the stairs on Deck C. It is on the top-left part of the wall. 4) Fixed to the back of the left-most dining chair on Deck D. ============================================================================ Level Five (Final Level) Time Limit : 25 min 00 sec Bombs : 5 ============================================================================ 1) In the centre locker of Strut B. You can't approach it with out setting it off, so you must use the M4 to first shoot the door off, then freeze the bomb. 2) On the wall of outside of Strut B. You can most likely hear it ticking when you walk out into the open. 3) Attached to the bottom-left dining chair in the Strut C dining room. 4) Underneath the top-level of the CD Connecting Bridge. Find it just above the pipes on the lower-level. 5) Underneath the little walkway that leads to the Shell 1 - Shell 2 Connecting Bridge door, Strut D. ======================= 12.2 Elimination Mode ======================= In this part of the game, you need to dispose of the enmies in the shortest time possible. This is much like the Eliminate All Mode in VR Missions, but rather than in a VR environment, you are placed in a section of the either the Tanker or the Big Shell. Another difference is the weapons you have - the amount of ammo you have gradually decreases in each level. As the difficulty rises, you are forced to think of new options to take out the enemies. ============================================================================ Level One Time Limit : (not sure) Enemies : 4 Initial Equipment : M4 rifle, M9 Tranquilizer. ============================================================================ Take out the two guards on the top floor in first person view, then take out the remaining two on the bottom level. ============================================================================ Level Two Time Limit : 2 min 30 sec Enemies : 4 Initial Equipment : M4 rifle, M9 Tranquilizer. ============================================================================ Run through and take 'em out. Enough said. ============================================================================ Level Three Time Limit : 2 min 30 sec Enemies : 4 Initial Equipment : M4 rifle, PSG-1 rifle. ============================================================================ Take out the guy on the top level of the bridge and the two on the roof with the M4. The fourth will call for back-up and check the upper level of the bridge, so take this oppurtunity to to get him as well. ============================================================================ Level Four Time Limit : 2 min 30 sec Enemies : 4 Initial Equipment : M4 rifle. ============================================================================ Take out the enemy closest to you, then run south, and kill that guard. Then jump on the ledge and kill the remaining two in first person view. ============================================================================ Level Five Time Limit : 2 min 30 sec Enemies : 4 Initial Equipment : M4 rifle, Grenades, Stun Grenades, Claumore and C4. ============================================================================ It's easy to get around here. Just kill, kill and kill. ============================================================================ Level Six Time Limit : 2 min 30 sec Enemies : 4 Initial Equipment : M4 rifle, M9 Tranquilizer. ============================================================================ Run outside, and wait for the guard to see you. Then run back in and equip and throw the Stun Grenade out the door. This should take out some enemies. Now run south, head through the door and out the other side. Shot all the remaining enemies with the M4, making sure to pick up the M4 x30 ammo near the elevator. ============================================================================ Level Seven Time Limit : 2 min 30 sec Enemies : 4 Initial Equipment : M4 rifle, M9 Tranquilizer. ============================================================================ Unequip the M4 and take out the enmy to the north with a neck-break. Do the same for his buddy found in the room just a little further north (where you found the President in the story mode), and pick up the ammo while you're there. Clear the rest of the level with the M4. ============================================================================ Level Eight Time Limit : 5 min 00 sec Enemies : 7 Initial Equipment : M4 rifle, M9 Tranquilizer, Stun Grenades, Grenades, Stinger and Claymore. ============================================================================ Throw the Stun Grenade near where the guard closest to you stands. After two are eliminated, Alert mode will start. So now kill 2 more enmies with the Stinger, and take out the remaining 3 with the M4. ============================================================================ Level Nine Time Limit : 5 min 00 sec Enemies : 8 Initial Equipment : M4 rifle, Stun Grenades, PSG-1 rifle, RGB6 and C4. ============================================================================ Cause an Alert. Run behind the crate to the south-east. Take out the 5 enemies that come towards you with the RGB6, then the remaining ones with the M4. ============================================================================ Level Ten (Final Level) Time Limit : 5 min 00 sec Enemies : 8 Initial Equipment : M4 rifle, Stun Grenades, Grenades, PSG-1, RGB6, C4, Claymore and Nikita (Empty - to knock out enemies). ============================================================================ Place the 2 Claymores at the door in the room in which you start, then cause an Alert with a C4. Wait. Two guards should die for the Claymores (if not, just use another weapon to finish them off) and then clear the rest of the fools (most of them will come to you) with either the RGB6 or the M4. =================== 12.3 HOLD-UP MODE =================== There are certain Levels I will not go into detail because they are quite simple (what are your skills for??). ============================================================================ Level One Time Limit : 3 min 00 sec Enemies : 1 Initial Equipment : USP and Coolant ============================================================================ Wait for the guard to start walking to the other strut entrance, then run up and hold him up. Go to the goal. ============================================================================ Level Two Time Limit : 3 min 00 sec Enemies : 2 Initial Equipment : USP and Coolant ============================================================================ Walk near the opening in the fence, and wait for the guard to spot you. Put your back up against the fence (that way he won't see you) and he will come and investigate. Take this opportunity to get him. Now run out of that area, and down the right most side of the crates. Hold-up the second enemy. Head to the goal. ============================================================================ Level Three Time Limit : 3 min 00 sec Enemies : 4 Initial Equipment : USP and Coolant ============================================================================ Walk to the right, and out the door. Now, there will be two guards. Follow the one that goes south, then hold him up. Now get the other one. Move to the south-western most part of of the floor. Knock on the wall to get a gaurd to come over, and just before he turns the corner (i.e. his head turns), then get him. Watch the movements of the last guard, then go get him too. ============================================================================ The following Levels are not written in detail... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Level Four Time : 3 min 00 sec Enemies : 1 Initial Equipment : USP, Coolant ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Level Five Time : 3 min 00 sec Enemies : 1 Initial Equipment : USP, Coolant ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Level Six Time : 3 min 00 sec Enemies : 1 Initial Equipment : USP, Coolant ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Level Seven Time : 3 min 00 sec Enemies : 4 Initial Equipment : USP, Coolant <> Run around clockwise and hold 'em up, this is a simple level. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Level Eight Time : 3 min 00 sec Enemies : 1 Initial Equipment : USP, Coolant ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Level Nine Time : 3 min 00 sec Enemies : 1 Initial Equipment : USP, Coolant ============================================================================= Level Ten (Final Level) Time : 3 min 00 sec Enemies : 8 Initial Equipment : USP, Coolant ============================================================================= There is a guard right in front of you (he has stealth camo on though, so be careful). When he moves in front of you (you can see when he does by the way the light warps) get him. Go into the room where you found the President, and get the other gaurd (also wearing stealth). Come back out, and head down the stairs. Hold-up the enemy in stealth who is standing by the staris, and then the second guard in stealth standing by the boxes. By now, another guard (noy in stealth) will be headed your way, so take this chance to nab him too. Proceed up the stairs on the opposite side of the area you are in now, and take a peek around the corner. ============================================================================= There will be more Alternative Missions coming really soon! Check back every week for updates (this FAQ/Walkthrough will be updated every week)! I'm sorry if my updates are slow because I need time to play through the VR Missions too...if you need me to speed up my updating please tell me A.S.A.P. ============================================================================= More updates to come... ****************************************************************************** 15. Sneaking Mode - Eliminate All requires you to sneak around the area and eliminate all of the guards patrolling the area. ================================ 15.1a Sneaking Mode - Sneaking ================================ --------- Level 1 --------- This is very easy, just run through behind the guard when he faces right. --------- Level 2 --------- Wait till the guard is facing right. Run up to the second guard that is facing left and choke him once (don’t kill him. Hit the choke button once only!) and run to goal. --------- Level 3 --------- Wait till the guard is facing up. Run up and head right-up. You will see two guards on the right (radar). When you run, do a torso-axial flip through the nearest guard to the goal. --------- Level 4 --------- Flatten against the wall and make a noise. Run up where the guard stood, between two other guards. The one on the right is facing left and south. Run past him when he is facing south and head to goal. (In this level you can run all the way to goal after you flatten against the wall, trust me.) --------- Level 5 --------- Use hanging mode to knock out the guard below you. Don’t let a guard spot you when you run to hang. (“Is somebody there?”) After knocking out the first guard let a guard who is facing down spot you. (You can see him.) Don’t hesitate to run and lean against the wall, nearest to the guard, when he is facing down. (You will save time) He won’t see you but you must run past him quick. Spin over the noise-making floor. Stand where you are for a while and head to goal. (Waiting for the guard facing left so you can spin over the last noise-making floor) Note: there is a guard above you who can see you. --------- Level 6 --------- This is a tricky level. Climb up two times onto the obstacles and flip over to the right two times. Flip again towards north, then to the right twice and head to goal. Note: You can make all these easier, but it will take away two seconds from your time limit: Flatten to the wall and make a noise when you begin. --------- Level 7 --------- This level requires much skill. Run to the third locker. When the guard is trying to facing left flip towards him. (This is what I call skill playing. It is possible to take him out.) Run south, at the second cut-out run right. At the corner, flatten to the wall and wait till the reinforcements run past you. Then the goal is clear. Note: If you don’t like the reinforcement to come, remember not to kill the guard. --------- Level 8 --------- Run up the stairs and flip down the other. Run up until you see a guard. He will stop. (Keep running) Freeze him, head right and up the stairs, then up-right to goal. Note: you must be fast or the last guard will see you. --------- Level 9 --------- This level is easy if you know what to do. Grab the box and wait till the guard is facing north. Choke him once. Run behind the second guard. Choke the last guard and head to goal. ---------- Level 10 ---------- This is easy, too. Run up the stairs (ignore the magazine on the floor) and head up then right. Take the box and run past the guard. Flip over the noise-making floor. Head down the stairs. Instead of turning left, head north then turn left. Choke the guard once and head to goal. Note: you must run as fast as you can, or the first guard will see you. ===================================== 15.1b Sneaking Mode - Eliminate All ===================================== --------- Level 1 --------- Take up the M9 and take out the guard quickly. (Headshot only!) --------- Level 2 --------- Wait till the guard turns right. Pick up the M9 then shoot the upper guard and the right one. Run near goal and shoot the last guard. --------- Level 3 --------- Head right and pick up the M9. Shoot the guard and head up. Shoot another guard and head up then left. Face down and shoot the last guard. --------- Level 4 --------- Flatten against the wall and make a noise. Run and grab the M9. Freeze the guard and shoot him. Run up, at the first intersection turn left. Freeze the guard and shoot. Run a little forward, face right and shoot the last guard. --------- Level 5 --------- Run north, then right and pick up the M9. (Don’t let a guard spot you) Run left, face north and shoot him. Run to the middle of the noise-making floor and shoot a guard at the same level as you. Crouch and shoot the nearest guard to you, then the other near goal. Back track, go into hanging mode and knock the guard below you. Head towards the goal. --------- Level 6 --------- Take the M9. Shoot the nearest guard, and then the other. Run right, and then north till you see a sleeping guard, then shoot. Wait till the other guard facing up, then shoot. Run forward and climb towards the goal. --------- Level 7 --------- Take M9 from the first locker, and then shoot the guard. (Don’t hesitate further!) Run up and wait at the corner, and then shoot the guard before he is facing south. It is very easy to take out the remaining two guards. --------- Level 8 --------- Run right and take the M9. Run north, under the surveillance camera and shoot the guard. Turn left, then face north and shoot the two guards. Face right and shoot the last guard. --------- Level 9 --------- Take up the M9. Shoot the guard when he is facing north. Flip through his body and shoot the other guard. Wait for the final guard to face south. Rush in for the kill. When you wait for the goal to appear run and grab some items. =================== 15.4 Variety Mode =================== Make use of all the skills you have learnt so far to get through these missions. --------- Level 1 --------- This one’s easy. Run across the disappearing floor, keeping on the inside to avoid the mines. Crawl through to the next part, and then climb the blocks to make your way up and west. Continue running through the zigzag platform, avoiding the mines and making sure not to fall. At the end, hang and drop to a lower level, and run a short way north to the goal while avoiding the mines. --------- Level 2 --------- Same level as before, only you have to destroy targets with your handgun now. Hold Square and L1 to run and shoot, and use this technique to destroy the first 4 targets. Continue through the same path as before. After jumping off the blocks, head west and climb up the first set of stairs. Turn east and shoot the target moving up and down in first person mode. Continue across the platform, destroying targets along the way. At the end, pick up the AKS-74U and drop to the lower level. Use it to destroy the walls blocking your path and reach the goal. --------- Level 3 --------- Head to the right side of the platform and hang over the railing. Drop all the way down and catch the railing right after the structure. From there, drop down again and catch the railing below. Make your way down along the railing, and when Raiden’s feet is aligned with the railing below, drop and catch. Right along the railing, drop and catch when Raiden’s feet is aligned with the railing below. Move up, drop and catch when feet is aligned with railing. Right, same thing. Up, yada yada. Left, you know the drill. Up, drop on the platform, and run to the goal. Note: If you have trouble with the Grip Gauge running out too soon, do as many hang-drop-catch as possible on the structure. 1 hang-drop-catch equals 10 pull-ups. Do 10 of these and you’ll gain a level on your Grip Gauge. --------- Level 4 --------- Hang-drop-catch to the lower platform to get a better view. Crouch, equip your PSG1 or PSG1-T and take a Pentazemin. If you’re quick enough, you can shoot the soldier going right on the second level. Another soldier will arrive from the top level and take the same path. 2 more soldiers follow this same path, so that’s 4 out of 8 soldiers killed. A fifth soldier will come running left past the second level, and a sixth will soon peek from the box to the east near Emma, leaving his head vulnerable. A seventh is straight behind him, hiding from a further box. The last soldier will charge from the left side. Shoot him down to finish this level. --------- Level 5 --------- Hmm…a mission in the dark. Equip your M9 and aim straight ahead. You will see the thermal goggles of a soldier on the platform far above. Tranquilize him by shooting at his head. Move forward a little bit, and aim at the northeast upper platform. Another guard is up there. Head to the east, following it north to arrive at some stairs leading up. Up those stairs is another guard. Once 3 guards are tranquilized, move to the northeast part of the level to find a passage leading into the next area and the goal. Lean against the wall before the passageway with the disappearing floor. When you see a guard pass by, tranquilize him. Run past the disappearing floors and stop. You should see a guard up ahead. Tranquilize him and continue east to the goal. --------- Level 6 --------- When you start, immediately run north and east, climbing up the blocks and hopping off them at the end. Lean against the first column you come to. When the creature nearest you turns his head to his right, run east and north, crouching behind the low black wall. Hide here until the creature ahead begins to roar and moan. As soon as you hear the sound, stand up and run a little ways north, then east up the stairs. Don’t stop running and continue up the second set of stairs, then the third up to the roof. Once on the roof, run east towards the gap and use Raiden’s torso-axial flip to cross it. The goal is just ahead. --------- Level 7 --------- One of my favorite Raiden missions, a little quite difficult to complete until you get the hang of it. <> Run around and collect all the boxes, then take care of him using the M9. <> Run right and collect the box, then up towards the Claymores. Lay one facing to the west and wait east of it, behind the tall box with the ration. A soldier will walk right into it. Equip the SOCOM and make your way to the southwest, collecting the supplies. A soldier will enter your side of the arena. Hide behind the box and pop out from the west, shooting him on the head when he is reloading. Take out your PSG1-T and take a few steps south from the southwestern large box, then face north and up to take out the guard there. Then aim to the northeast. There should be another guard peeking through the alcove below the northeast balcony. Shoot him as well. There should be 2 more guards left, both near the gap separating your side of the arena to theirs. Kill one of them, then collect the rest of the supplies before killing the last one. <> Head to the southwest box again, and collect the 2 boxes. Equip your HF Blade and lean against the large box. Tengus will start jumping on top of the box. For the sword users, remain leaned and they should jump down right in front of you. Shred them to pieces. For gun users, take out your SOCOM and shoot them down. Continue this strategy until all Tengus have been taken out. Along the process, there should also be a normal soldier shooting at you. Quickly deal with him and continue leaning against the box. Your kill count should read 7. Note : Raiden will sheathe or unsheathe his blade when you equip or unequip his blade. This will take up valuable time and will get you hit in the process. To prevent this, equip and/or unequip his blade while leaning. Take a few steps south and equip the PSG1-T again. This time, the guard is on the northeast balcony. Put him to sleep. Another guard should be attempting to rush you around this time. Take care of him. Another guard will respawn in the northeast balcony, so take him out the same way. After that one, yet another guard will respawn. Another soldier will rush you. Take him out as well. The remaining 2 guards should be easy to kill. Remember to collect all the supplies before killing off the last guard. <> Don’t worry, this guy’s easy to beat if you have at least a quarter of your life bar left. As the round starts, lean against the tall box with the Stinger. Gurlugon will freeze you with his attack and hit you with his eye laser. The box should be destroyed. See the Book? Lay it down, and stand right next to it. Let Gurlugon attack you, and laugh when you watch him :) ****************************************************************************** 16. Sneaking Mode - Eliminate All requires you to sneak around the area and eliminate all of the guards patrolling the area using the HF Blade. ================================ 17.1a Sneaking Mode - Sneaking ================================ This section was contributed by Aco Trninic .:Serb:. --------- Level 1 --------- When you start flatten yourself up against the wall, when the guard comes south then look right follow him back north, when he starts to head to the right go behind him and to the goal. --------- Level 2 --------- When you start run right, then wait at the ebd of that wall for the two guards closest to you to look away, then run north and wait at the little wall, when all the guards look west run to the goal. --------- Level 3 --------- When you start, i recommend choking the guard closest to you, then crawl into the vent and go all the way past the turn and look left, wait for a guards feet to come then right when they leave crawl out and roll past the hallway and to the goal. --------- Level 4 --------- This one is tricky, there are two guards outside of where you start. Go to the bottom side of the box where you start then knock. When the guard comes to see what it was, go around the other side of the box and to the far right wall and follow the guard who is going to the left. When he stops choke him, go to the bottom of the box your on and make a noise, the guard to the north will come. When he does go around the other side of the box, he will see the body. Roll through the last guard and to the goal. --------- Level 5 --------- This one looks hard but when the guard to the north looks away, run to the wall to the right, when you see all the guards on the bottome look away drop to the other level, when the guard comes to the north and is looking right, slip behind him and roll to the goal. --------- Level 6 --------- This one's hardish, when you start roll over both wet floors, wait for the guard to come in front of you, kill him and drag his body to the hallway to the right, but not in it. Now knock on the wall so the guard from the right come. When he sees the body and kneels down, kill him too. Now get to the goal when the last guard isn't looking. --------- Level 7 --------- When you start open up the locker to the left, and put the sleeping guard into it. follow the two guards back until they come to the box with the open locker on the top side, go to the locker and wait. when they leave and the other guard comes to the south, slip behind him and get to the goal. --------- Level 8 --------- Now you have a USP and M9, when you atrt go up the stairs and go into first person view and take out the two cameras. Switch to you M9 and get the guard coming south. Go down the stars to the sleeping guard. wait for the guard to the north to look right then hold him up. Run to the goal. --------- Level 9 --------- Get the box, now knock and kill the guard in the little area to the right, go there and the guard to the north should think he sees you get a book and plant it, when he looks at it kill him, attract another guard and when he sees the body kill him and run to the goal. ---------- Level 10 ---------- When you start run left and north then flatten yourself up against the wall beside the lockers, you can do whatever you want with the guard. Get the USP suppressor and the chaff grenades out of the locker. Now crawl into the vent near the stairs and get the PSG-1 and PGS1-T, get out of the vent where you can see the disapearing floor, take out the guard with your PSG1-T and head to the goal. ===================================== 17.1b Sneaking Mode - Eliminate All ===================================== --------- Level 1 --------- When you start run to the M9 and equip it, hold up the guard when he comes to you, tranquilize him and go to the goal. --------- Level 2 --------- When you start run to the right and make a noise, when the guard comes around the corner hold him up and kill him, when the guard to the left is looking north hold him up and kill him, another guard should get suspicious and come check it out, hide, then after he finds nothing hold him up on the way back. Just kill the next guard when he isn’t looking, shouldn’t be too hard. --------- Level 3 --------- Run north and hold up the guard when he looks north, kill him, run left and let the guard get suspicious when he comes kill him too. Run back to where you killed the first guard. When the guard to the north looks north roll to the other guard looking south, wait to the right, hold him up kill him and the timing should be perfect for the other guard to come beside you so hold him up and kill him. Go to the goal. --------- Level 4 --------- Go to the bottom of that square and let the guard get suspicious, go into first person view and kill him, when the guard closest to you looks away, shoot him. Throw a magazine to the north and kill that guard when he checks what it was. Kill the last and go to the goal. --------- Level 5 --------- Run north and hide upagainst the wall and make a noise kill the guard who comes to check it out, when the guard to the north is to the far right, go in First Person View and take him out. Now you have the whole top level to yourself, take out all the other guards and drop to the goal. --------- Level 6 --------- Climb up onto the crate and take out the 2 guards who are close to you, shoot the wall near the far guard when he comes to see shoot him, kill the last guard when he aint looking. Head to the goal. --------- Level 7 --------- Run to the bottom right corner and get into First Person View. When the 2 guards start to come south, kill one and before the other can get the binoculars. Kill the other guard too, go to the box and hold up the other guard when he comes near you. Hold up the last guard when he comes west. --------- Level 8 --------- Run up the stairs and go take out the 2 cameras and the 3 guards that you can see. Go kill the last guard to the north when he is not looking. --------- Level 9 --------- When you start get the box. Go to the guard just north and hold him up. Kill him and the guard that gets suspicious. The guard to the very north -- kill him too. Kill the last guard when he is not looking. ---------- Level 10 ---------- When you start run left and kill the guard north. Get the M9 and USP ammo out of the locker. Go into the vent and get the PSG1-T rifle. Crawl back out. Go up the stairs and wait for the guard to come near you. Kill him. Take out the rest of the guards from a distance using the PSG1-T rifle.
