Nearly all of them. He is not a bad charcter at all, although his speed lets him down a bit. Jax mostly uses his fists like a boxer, not a lot of his moves concist of kicks or leg swipes. Also Jax has changed a lot in his appearance throughout the Mortal Kombat games. He went from a naked body to a beret and robotic arms. Jax's Tonfas are even more short ranged than his Muay Thai itself so that cerainly isn't a very good thing. He also has only three specials however they fulfil all needs for rangeness, although the machine gun isn't very strong. As I had mentioned before Jax has changed in appearance. His first costume is like this : He wears a red beret, small black goggles (or sunglasses). Instead of arms he has robotic ones making him more powerful. His Torso is naked apart from machine gun bullets coming from the left shoulder diagonally to his left hip. Coming from his right shoulder is what looks like a metallic pipe possible the connected to his arms. It does the same as the bullets but the other way. He wears combat turquoise trousers and black combat boots. He also wears pads on his knees and wears a white belt. Lastly but not leastly he carries a machine gun on his back. Jax's second costume is completely different. He now wears this : A black cap backwards , A grey sleeveless hoodie, a yellow sleeveless jacket, a golden Mortal Kombat bling - bling on his chest, white belt, black and white boxing gloves, machine gun on his back, black combat trousers, black combat boots and one yellow stripe just above his boots. In Muay Thai Jax looks very offensive. He is hopping slightly from leg to leg, knees bent just a liitle bit and his arms way in front of his face - pacing as he hops. and his eyes are looking into the opponents ones. In Tonfa position he's calmed down a bit. He brings his arms a bit down and a bit towards himself and stops hoppping but instead is just shifting around and only moving his body. The following are the games Jax appears in. Next to it is where he is positioned in the "Choose your Fighter" screen. ¬ Mortal Kombat II : ( Middle row, furthest right) ¬ Mortal Kombat III : ( In the top row, right in the middle) ¬ Ultimate Mortal Kombat III : ( In the top row, right in the middle) ¬ Mortal Kombat Trilogy : ( In here there are two Jaxs ; the MK III one and the MK II one ; the MK III one is in the 2nd row 7th from left and the second one is one the last row , 3rd from left) ¬ Mortal Kombat IV : ( He is in the 2nd row, 2nd from left ) ¬ Mortal Kombat Gold: ( He is in the 2nd row, 2nd from left ) ¬ Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance : ( In row 6 and in the middle) ¬ Mortal Kombat Unchained ¬ Mortal Kombat Armageddon : ( On the 3rd row, 5th from left) Jax is in every single game except for MK I and MK Deception ,and obviously Shaolin Monks. ============================================================================== ================================ JAX'S MOVES ======================= - JM22 - ============================================================================== - JMT3 - ========= MUAY THAI (On PS2) --------- Key : --------- Attack 1 - Square --------- Attack 2 - Triangle --------- Attack 3 - X --------- Attack 4 - Circle --------- L1 - L1 COMBINATION NAME DISCRIPTION 1 Quick Hook Punch A smack in the face Down + 1 Upward Elbow Crouches down a bit and elbows 2 Turning Hand Turns and smacks in the face Down + 2 Uppercut An Uppercut 3 Spinning Sidekick Turns and kicks in the chest Back + 3 Knee Striker A Big knee hitting them up Down + 3 Ducking Cross Crouches and smacks in the face 4 Thrusting Foot A boot in the face Back + 4 Spinning Dragon A slow sweep Up + 4 Throat Kick A huge kick in the face Down + 4 Clean Low hit Crouches and hits legs lightly 1,1 Ring King Two smacks to the face. Much appriciated for this. = = = = = ABOUT JAX Jax was the first African American character in the Mortal Kombat series and made his debut in the second game. He is portrayed as an archetypical American hero. In the chain of command of the Special Forces, he is Sonya Blade's direct superior and clearly the catalyzing force of Sonya's impulsiveness. Jax is clear-headed, careful, and always keeping a watch on what his men are doing. When the need arises, he is a beast on the battlefield with the attitude and ferocity of a lion. He unscrupulously makes use of the most advanced technology to improve both himself and his unit. = = = = = STORYLINE Jax made his first chronological appearance in Mortal Kombat II, though, in terms of the storyline, his first adventure is depicted in Mortal Kombat: Special Forces. This game opened depicting a prison break at Special Forces' detention facility. Jax, driving along a highway, received a transmission from his fellow Special Forces operative Gemini detailing the escape and the escapees: No Face, Tasia, Jarek and Tremor. She informed him that they had escaped to a warehouse on the town's south side, likely receiving assistance from an outside source. Jax surmised that source to be Kano. He received another transmission from one Lieutenant Sanchez, whose squad had arrived at the warehouse. After the transmission was cut off at the source, Jax arrived at the scene to find the squad destroyed. For this, he swore he would achieve vengeance against Kano. Using prototype bionic implants on his arms in order to enhance his strength, Jax set out to find his enemy. Infiltrating the warehouse, Jax confronted No-Face and dispatched him. Proceeding into the sewers, he did likewise to Tasia. At this point, Gemini contacted Jax again and informed him that the Black Dragon were using a corporate building as a front for their base of operations. At the building, Jax confronted and defeated Jarek. His investigation then led him to the town of the lost city of Sin Kiang. There, he defeated Tremor and discovered a portal to Outworld. Surmising that the portal was linked to Kano's plans of global domination, he entered. Jax caught up with Kano, who had acquired an artifact called the Eye of Shitian. Through this artifact, Kano could acquire great power. After an exchange of words, the two fought and Jax emerged the victor. He used the Eye's power to bring them both back to Earthrealm and brought Kano into custody, only to have the criminal escape at a later date. At this point, Jax ceased using his bionic implants. Jax's first appareance on a fighting game was in Mortal Kombat II. Jax first came across the Earthrealm warriors when he found Johnny Cage in the waters close to the Special Forces Agency. Jax began interrogating him. Cage explains his story and although is not trusted at first, is eventually set free. Jax doesn't believe the story of Johnny Cage until he receives a video signal from Sonya, whom is temporarily working with Kano to escape the Outworld. As an apology for Jax not believing Cage, he visits him at a commercial shoot where Johnny is being attacked. Jax participates in a short battle with Kintaro here. The battle is interrupted when the Earthrealm warriors arive to help. After they save Johnny from the intruders, they travel into Outworld to compete in the tournament and save Sonya. Soon Jax came to learn of the Emperor's dark plans for Earthrealm. As soon as he had freed Sonya (and inadvertently Kano), he headed back home to warn his government of the impending danger. He would find himself frustrated, however, as not only did Kano escape back into Outworld, but the government did not believe the major. Jax began to prepare for war covertly and once more outfitted his arms with bionic implants. After helping foil Shao Kahn's attempt to permanently claim Earth as his own, Jax became the commanding officer of the Outer World Investigation Agency (OIA). They operated from an underground bunker and had scouts in various realms. Not only did they explore and map these realms, but they also looked for and destroyed inter-realm portals that could lead to Earth. He briefly assisted Raiden in the defeat of Shinnok after he found out that Sonya was in Edenia. It was during these events that both he and Sonya would find the Lin Kuei cyborg Cyrax, malfunctioning and trapped in a desert. Returning with him to their home base, they reversed the automation process, restored his humanity, and gained a new ally. Years later, trouble would occur again. Not only were his agents Kenshi and Cyrax lost in Outworld, but the OIA underground facility was nuked into oblivion by the traitor Hsu Hao. When, soon after, Raiden summoned the Earthrealm warriors to the abandoned island of Shang Tsung and asked them to travel with him to Outworld to bring down the Deadly Alliance, Jax didn't hesitate. He used this trip as a cover to track down Hsu Hao and kill him by tearing out his artificial heart. During the final attack on the Deadly Alliance, Jax along with the other Earthrealm warriors were killed (He, Sonya and Johnny Cage were overwhelmed by the Deadly Alliance's Tarkartan warriors). After Onaga defeated Raiden and the Deadly Alliance, he resurrected Jax and his Earthrealm friends as his slaves. Jax returns in Mortal Kombat: Unchained, and it is revealed that Jax is saved, thanks to the efforts of Ermac and the spirit of Liu Kang, as shown in Ermac's Deception ending. Jax also returned in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. In his ending for Unchained, he brutally pounded Onaga senseless (Shujinko failed despite absorbing Jax's fighting styles but lacking the raw anger needed) his strength propelled by unexplained rage. As an encore, he embedded the Netherrealm Kamidogu in the Dragon King's head. In his ending for Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, Jax becomes a full cyborg after defeating Blaze, and leaves the Special Forces. He then takes control of the Tekunin by defeating Sektor, an apparent act of revenge after discovering a neural control chip implanted in his brain by the Tekunin leader. The ending also states that, after this, it is unknown if Jax would ever return to the Special Forces. ============================================================================== ============================= JAX'S STRATEGY ======================= - JS99 - ============================================================================== Jax should be abused for his power. Mainly you should keep your enemy really close to you as Jax is at his most deadliest then. Probably the only move he has for further range is his machine gun which is really weak, can be easily blocked and dodged and then worse the enemy will use that position to his advantage and blast you with something he/she has got under their sleeve. The move which I really like is the Knee Striker (Back + 3 ). It's unexpected, it's fast it's strong and it even pops the enemy up for further punishment. If you can, avoid the move Down + 4 Clean Low Hit. It's Weak, It doesn't deliver much impact and why do that when you can do the Spinning Dragon (Back + 4 ). It does twice as much damage and it sweeps. Another one of my favourite moves is the Throat kick (Up + 4 ) which is known for it's power and because it smacks the enemy away giving you some time to actually think with the enemy always close to you. For Tonfa I advise you to use The Fancy Spins move (Back + 2 ) in conjugation with other buttons to it like 1,1 or anything else. Tonfa is short ranged but fast. Against Big Characters : Use 8 way run and Pistion Punches more Against fast Characters : Use Tofa more Against Boss Characters : Use Muay Thai more Against Everyone else : Use the 'Smack the Living Daylights out of them' ;) ^ I I I I I This is advise only. ============================================================================== =============================== JAX'S POINTS ======================= - JPGB - ============================================================================== Jax has some Advantages and Disadvantages. () The Good : ¬ Unlocked at start ¬ Pretty powerful ¬ Easy Moves ¬ Not so little moves ¬ Arranged Specials (Close, Far etc.) () The Bad : ¬ Slow ¬ Not a lot of Kick moves ¬ Not a lot of specials ¬ Short ranged ¬ Tonfa very short ranged () The Ugly : ¬ Tonfa :D ============================================================================== ================================= SITES ============================ - SAFD - ============================================================================== The following sites have my permission to put this FAQ onto their website if they choose to.
