Frequently Asked Questions ______________________________ What kind of game is Rallisport Challenge? Rallisport Challenge is a driving game in environments such as dirt, mud, snow, or ice. There are races with laps and races from one point to another including hill climbs. There are four categories of racing. Rally is driving from one point to another. There are three sets of rally tracks; Safari, Pacific, and Mediterranean. Safari is mostly sand with some tarmac. Pacific is muddy and rainy. Mediterranean is a good mix of tarmac with cliffs to the sides, and gravel. Hill Climb is similar to Rally, but you drive up or down a hill. There are three sets of hill climbs; Vista Peak, Mt. Kiwi, and Koenig. All three sets have a base, ridge, and summit. You can also drive downhill on these same courses. Ice Racing is in laps and on a very slippery surface. The tracks are not long. Rallycross is also in laps, but it's on gravel. It's a mix of tarmac and gravel or mud. There are six Ice Racing tracks and six Rallycross tracks. What do 4WD, FWD, and RWD mean? They mean four wheel drive, front wheel drive, and rear wheel drive. This will be part of what determines the behavior of a car. A four wheel drive car can slide well on ice or dirt. A front wheel drive car can seem to have trouble exiting a slide. And a rear wheel drive car requires delicate turning, especially on ice. Can I tune up a car in this game? The cars in this game are as is. There are some options to change the behavior of each car but no purchasing of upgrade parts. Here are the options. Transmission Automatic Manual Tires (the game spells it "tyres") Tarmac Intermediate Gravel Snow Ice Suspension Soft Medium Hard Gear Ratio Short Medium Long Power Ratio (only for 4WD cars) Rear Middle Front Brake Balance Rear Middle Front Steering Loose Tight Can the cars flip over? Yes. This is one of the reasons for the ability to reset your car on the track. Can the cars take damage? Yes. The headlights and windows can be broken. The front end can get dented. Over the course of a race, the body can become dirty. However, colliding with a tree from over 100 miles per hour will not destroy the car. The car is drivable regardless of how wildly it is driven. How should I drive around corners? A good way to handle the cornering is to start decelerating before the corner. Start on the outside edge and turn the wheel inward. Accelerate out of the corner while sliding if possible. How do I save my game? The game saves automatically. There is no need to remember to save. Is system link multiplayer available? No. There is split screen play for up to four players. What about the metric system? One mile is approximately 1.61 kilometers. One kilometer is approximately 0.62 miles. A typical 3 kilometer course is approximately 1.86 miles. ___________________ III. Select Profile ___________________ After you choose Start Game, you come to this screen. You can make several different profiles if you like. You must decide between beginner and normal difficulty. The beginner difficulty will be easier to win races in than the normal difficulty. In career events, the beginner difficulty allows you the option to restart a race. This option is not available in normal. The career is slightly longer in the normal difficulty. Both difficulties can unlock all cars and tracks. The following is an example of a created profile. -------- PROFILES -------------------------- Player -------------------------- ---- INFO -------------------------- Difficulty Normal Points 100000 -------------------------- A Select B Back X Delete __________ IV. Career __________ Here is a list of events with their courses included. Finishing some events with the most points can unlock new cars. Those events have the appropriate cars listed. As you unlock more cars and tracks, the number of points available in new events will gradually increase. The points are given on a basis of position out of four, car damage, race time, lap time for lap courses, and top speed. Also, there is a bonus at the end of each event. The majority of the points come from the position finished in, and the final bonus. One strategy for the career is to backtrack when you unlock new cars. The new cars that you unlock are faster and can more easily win lower class events. You can always repeat an event for a chance at more points. Also, you can memorize a track. This takes time but it works. Single Race ______________ In this mode you can choose between four categories of racing. They are Rally, Hill Climb, Ice Racing, and Rallycross. After selecting your category of racing, you can choose a track and car. Any unlocked car can be used on any track. If you want to use a hill climb car for ice racing, you can. You can have up to 30 laps for the lap courses and you will have three opponents from the same car class. You can view your replay after driving. You have the option to restart the replay, pause, slow down and speed up the replay, and change the viewing angles of your car. _______________ VI. Time Attack _______________ This is similar to Single Race. You can choose from the four categories of driving; Rally, Hill Climb, Ice Racing, and Rallycross. You can choose a track and car. Again, you are limited to 30 laps if you choose a lap course. You can choose to have a ghost that will be your best drive. After driving, you have the option to save the ghost file. You can also view the replay. ________________ VII. Multiplayer ________________ Similar to Single Race, but with real people. Choose a driving category, then a track. This game is designed for up to four players on one television. You can select any unlocked car and two players can use identical cars. On lap tracks, you can have up to 30 laps. Between races, you can change cars and stay on the same track. You can also view your replays. _____________ VIII. Options _____________ A) Controller Settings ----------------------- There are three possible controller configurations available. You may choose any one of the three. The vibration function can be turned on or off. If you are playing with automatic transmission, you simply don't need to use the buttons for gearing up or down. Track Description and Strategy _________________________________ A) Rally Tracks ---------------- 1) Safari SS1 Conditions: Day, Partly cloudy Surfaces: 84% Sand, 16% Tarmac Length: 5.6 Kilometers Elevation: 0 Meters This stretch of track is mostly sand with some tarmac. It is narrow in many sections and there are some tricky bumps. There are some sharp corners. --- Start --- Immediately accelerate forward and start to shift right. There will be a harder right followed by a hill. The hill turns left slightly on the downside. --- Green Signs --- There is a sharp right that can be slid through. Start the turn on the left and brake while turning right. Accelerate out of this turn and start to shift left to get through the narrow passage between signs ahead. At the end of the signs, the track turns right. Braking may be necessary here. Next, make a slight left and prepare for a bump. --- Snake curve --- Here the road curves left and then right in a very round fashion. It is tight so sliding may be difficult. There will be another round left and right immediately. --- Sharp Right --- There is a sharp right that is surrounded by low signs. You exit the sand and enter the tarmac. There are two slight hills on the straight stretch of tarmac. At the end of this straight will be a sand entry to the left. Move to the right and prepare to maintain some speed for the sand. --- Sand Again --- There is a round left followed by a tight right. It is narrow in here so be cautious. Immediately following is another round left ending with a tighter right. Next, prepare for a square left. This leads to a straight that is somewhat bumpy. At the end of this straight will be some signs coming into view. Prepare for a square right that has a bump at the railroad tracks. One last tight left leads to the end. 2) Safari SS2 Conditions: Day, Clear Surfaces: 100% Sand Length: 5.0 Kilometers Elevation: +28 Meters It is a nice sunny day and the course is all sand. This course has a tricky dip curve. There are some bumpy straights and mostly open land. --- Start --- Accelerate forward and prepare for a nice round right turn. Following this, the road turns left and narrows slightly. There is enough room on the left turn for a slide. Turn the car sharply and slow down. Accelerate out of this corner and head into a slight right. --- Straight --- This straight section leads into the sunken kink. Slow down hard when you see the high banks on each side of the pit. When you reach the bottom of this pit accelerate out of it. It is easy to flip if not done well. Next there is a slight left followed by a hard right. There is room in the right turn to slide across the sand. Brake in preparation and turn hard to the right to swing the rear outward. Accelerate out and head straight down a mild drop. --- Sharp Right, Sharp Left --- The next right is not visible until you are just in front of it. There are signs on the inside which mark it. You will want to slow down considerably to enter this section. The tight left is over a bridge. It is easy to hook your front end on the beginning of the bridge, so be cautious. --- Bumpy Straight --- The next section is nearly straight and contains some tricky bumps. Be prepared for a square right marked by tall signs. After the square right are some slight curves followed by a left and a right. The right wraps around a sand wall. Next, head up a hill leading left. Beware of the rocks on the right side of this hill. After the hill, the course is very straight to the finish. 3) Safari SS3 Conditions: Morning, Partly cloudy Surfaces: 80% Sand, 20% Tarmac Length: 4.2 Kilometers Elevation: 0 Meters This course has some deep hooks and long straight portions. It is familiar if you have played the previous Safari courses. --- Start --- Accelerate out of the start and head into a slight left, then a slight right, and then another left. Don't carry too much speed through these early turns because they are easy to overshoot. Next is a tight right marked by signs. Slow down sharply and veer to the right to get some slide through this. There is a sharp left similar to the previous turn. There are signs marking it. One more sharp right leads to a square left over the railroad tracks. You may want to slow down a little extra for the dip at the tracks. --- Long Straight --- There are some serious bumps on this straight section. The later bumps on this straight could throw you off balance. Prepare for a square right turn leading to some narrow curves. There will be a very gradual left followed by a gradual right which leads into a sharp left. It is easy to overshoot this left. Thankfully, the tall signs may keep you near the track. Next is a round right which leads to tarmac. This entrance to tarmac is somewhat sharp and can be cut on the inside. --- Tarmac Straight --- This straight section is slightly curved and slightly mounded. It is a good place to drive at full speed. Prepare for a sharp left exiting the tarmac section. There is a round right leading to the finish. 4) Safari SS4 Conditions: Morning, Partly cloudy Surfaces: 100% Sand Length: 5.4 Kilometers Elevation: -42 Meters This course has your favorite pit turn as well as the small bridge with two square turns. There are some fairly straight sections where valuable time can be saved. --- Start --- Accelerate out from the start and turn for an easy left. Be ready to weave through some banks. There is a straight section and a square left up ahead. Slow down hard for the left turn. Accelerate fully down the fairly straight section. There are some bumps early in the straight section. As the straight tends to veer off to the left, slow down in preparation for the bridge and sharp right. --- Bridge --- Hitting either side of the bridge upon entry can cost valuable time. It may be worth it to just slow down a little more as you approach. As you exit the bridge, start turning sharply right and prepare to slide through the next tight left. You will want to get a good jump on the following straight section. Up the hill is a fairly sharp left with a nice wide sand section that you can use to slide on. As you are reaching the top of the hill, this left will come into view. Slow down enough to stay on the track and cut left. --- Pit --- Next is a round right turn followed by the hooked curve in the pit. Slow down and approach the drop with caution. Turn slightly for the pit but don't swing the car around with too much momentum. Next is a left turn followed by a right turn. The banks can forgive some extra speed taken through them. --- Straight --- A slight left precedes the next straight. Get a good angle on this and accelerate as early as possible. This straight will drop down and then rise back up. As you approach the top, slow down because the road turns left over the hill. There is a square left up ahead. Just after the square left is a straight. Watch for a boulder on the right side of the track. This boulder marks a right turn that should be slowed down for. After the boulder, the finish is visible. 5) Safari SS5 Conditions: Day, Clear Surfaces: 78% Sand, 22% Tarmac Length: 3.9 Kilometers Elevation: -2 Meters It is a clear day. This track has some long straights and some square corners conveniently located near each other. There are also plenty of round and gradual curves. --- Start --- Accelerate immediately out of the gate and turn slightly left. Head up a hill and slightly left to the next hill. Prepare for a gradual left followed by a gradual right. Braking may be necessary for these curves. Accelerate quickly and prepare for the first square right. --- Long Straight --- After entering this long narrow straight, accelerate and watch for the slight curves in the road. With careful steering, full acceleration is possible here. There will be signs on each side as you approach the next square right. Slow down hard for the square right and accelerate out of the turn. Head up to the next gradual left and enter with a wide angle. Turn the car left and slide through. There are some gradual rights and lefts with rolling hills. It is important to stay on course because of the uneven terrain just off to the sides. --- Tarmac --- As you approach the tarmac there will be a square left. Since the road curves right immediately afterward, you can clip the left somewhat and prepare for the right. Deceleration just before this square left is still very helpful. Head full throttle down the tarmac and the corner will not be too tight to continue to the finish. 6) Safari SS6 Conditions: Evening, Partly cloudy Surfaces: 78% Sand, 22% Tarmac Length: 3.9 Kilometers Elevation: +2 Meters This course should be familiar after driving Safari SS5. It is basically the same course in the other direction. --- Start --- Accelerate out of the start and head down the tarmac. There will be a round left that should require braking. This left is still on the tarmac which makes it easier to keep the tires on course. Then the sand begins. You can clip the right turn somewhat to keep speed up the hill. Just bring the front end of the car around enough to slide. Keep accelerating over the hills until the track turns right. Take caution into the next gradual turns. --- Straights and Squares --- There will be a dip in the road just before a hard right. You can start wide and slide through this. There will be a straight followed by a square left. It is easy to slide past the left turn. The course narrows at the entrance of the left and then leads to a straight. Full acceleration is possible through the fairly straight section. If you slide off the trail somewhat, you can let the car coast to try and regain control. Be ready for a square left marked by many signs. --- Long Curves --- Pull out of the square left and head up the hill. There is a moderate left followed by a moderate right. Braking can prevent your car from flying off the course through these turns. Head up the hill and into the slight right. Careful steering can allow full acceleration through this. With a good sliding angle, you can enter the finish at high speed. Slowing down is usually better than overshooting the final descent. 7) Pacific SS1 Conditions: Day, Overcast, Partly cloudy Surfaces: 100% Mud Length: 3.7 Kilometers Elevation: +12 Meters This course has some long straights and some tricky corners. It is important to know which hills lead to straights and which hills don't. --- Start --- The road tends to bend left and up a hill. This first hill leads to a somewhat left turn. Braking may be necessary to stay on track. Next is a left up another mild hill. Just beyond this is a bend right. The right bend is mild enough to continue accelerating through. --- Long Straight --- Here is a section to go full speed on. The road will continue in a fairly straight fashion until you see some signs marking an abrupt left kink. Slow down slightly for this left. The road continues with some mild curves, but careful steering can slide the car through them. There will be a right turn to slow down for which leads down hill slightly. Pay attention for a round left corner followed by a right curve leading to the finish. 8) Pacific SS2 Conditions: Day, Clear Surfaces: 100% Mud Length: 5.3 Kilometers Elevation: -82 Meters This course has some very round corners and it can be easy to end up in the ditch. Also, this course has a very narrow straight passage which can be tricky to get through with stability. --- Start --- Accelerate out of the gate and turn slightly left. There will be a small hill leading to a mild right turn. Brake for the next round left and be cautious through the following round right. Next will be a very short left followed by a mild right marked by banks. Continue through the banked section and prepare for a tight left. This left is followed by a short right leading to a small straight. The road tends to move up hill and curved. --- Beware of Ditches --- There is a right turn which should be respected. The road continues to wrap right. Head full throttle down the fairly straight section ahead and keep the car in control over the hills. --- Narrow Passage --- Up ahead will be some signs marking a right kink. Prepare for this with hard braking. Next will be a passage with a ditch on the left and a wall on the right. It leads to a final left kink just before the finish. 9) Pacific SS3 Conditions: Evening, Rain Surfaces: 100% Mud Length: 4.2 Kilometers Elevation: -6 Meters This course has some round curves that are unmarked and very level. It is important to know where these corners are. --- Start --- Just out of the gate, the trail will lead slightly downward and into the first right turn. There are trees and rocks on each side. Prepare for a left turn immediately after the right. There will be some winding trail leading to a very flat right corner. Brake just before this round right and slide through it. The wide and level nature of this curve makes it easy to slide around. --- Stay on Course --- There will be a long round left after the trail rises and falls. This is followed by a modest right. Head through a straight and into a flat and sharp left turn. Up ahead will be an abrupt right marked by signs. This right is not too sharp. --- Enter the Straight --- Up here is a very well hidden right turn. You will have to anticipate it to get through it. It leads into a straight section which is lined by small rocks on each side. Continue down the long and fairly straight section. There will be a simple left followed by a similar right leading to the finish. 10) Pacific SS4 Conditions: Day, Clear Surfaces: 100% Mud Length: 3.0 Kilometers Elevation: +9 Meters This course has some tricky straight sections and some hilly curves. It is important to know where you can accelerate at full power. --- Start --- Early out of the gate will be a right turn. It may be necessary to brake somewhat for it. This leads into a tricky straight section. It is tricky because there are rocks on the left side. It is easy to end up in the ditch. This straight section continues after the rocks for a short amount. Next will be a left followed by a right. These are clearly marked with signs on the outsides. After that is a straight section which weaves through banks. You can keep going straight and fast until you reach a rising left turn. This left has a bank on the left and some signs on the right. --- Turns and Hills --- After rounding the left, you will find a straight section with a mound to overcome. Soon after the mound will be a hard right. The track goes up and down on a straight section and leads to another hard right. This is followed by a left which heads upward. Another left heads into a straight section. There will then be a right and a left to the finish. 11) Pacific SS5 Conditions: Day, Partly cloudy, Rain Surfaces: 100% Mud Length: 4.6 Kilometers Elevation: +1 Meter This course has some long straight sections and some round easy corners early in the track. Later in the track will be some tricky corners. --- Start --- You will start with a long and fairly straight section leading to a round left. After this will be a straight. Watch for a shrub on the right side which marks a right turn. This leads to a straight that drops down a little. As the trail rises again, it heads left and into a round right. --- Tricky Corners Ahead --- Through some banks will be a left turn with a slight rise. Take it easy in the next section. There are rocks on the right side and the track curves quite often. A fence will be on the right side of a round right curve. This leads to a straight. Watch for a tree which is near a hidden left. This left is after a drop. Next is a straight. There will be a small right followed by a left. The next right dips down a little. Head straight to a round left which leads to the finish. 12) Pacific SS6 Conditions: Morning, Partly cloudy, Rain Surfaces: 79% Mud, 21% Tarmac Length: 3.9 Kilometers Elevation: -21 Meters This course starts with some tarmac and leads into mud. There are some round curves and some tricky straight sections with kinks. --- Start --- The tarmac section is straight enough to accelerate at full power until you reach a round left. This is just before a square corner leading to the mud. --- Mud --- The first section of mud should be approached with some caution. There is a right turn that can be underestimated. Then there will be a straight section leading to a hard right. This descends downward slightly and into another hard right. Some blue "Michelin" signs will mark a hard left turn. The course will rise and fall slightly for a small straight section. The next left has a wall on the inside. There is a straight section following this. However, there is a kink in the track due to a mound on the right. Next is a long right lined by "Castrol Motorsports" signs. Next is a straight section which you can slip through some weaving portions. Prepare for a round left. --- Hidden Turn --- There will be a right turn up ahead. The bank on the right can hide another bank on the left side. Take caution through this next area. Finally, there will be a long left leading to the finish. 13) Mediterranean SS1 Conditions: Morning, Rain Surfaces: 26% Gravel, 74% Tarmac Length: 3.1 Kilometers Elevation: +93 Meters This course is a mix of tarmac and gravel. There are some very sharp corners. The course rises up a hill and has some cliffs to the side of the track. --- Start --- The road curves right and rises. There will be a narrow straight section followed by a very sharp left turn. This leads up a hill. Be ready for a long round right turn onto gravel. --- Gravel --- There is a straight section followed by a left turn that rises up a steep hill. Maintain momentum up this hill. It curves right before you reach the top of this section. Over the hill is a straight section leading back to tarmac. --- Tarmac Again --- There will be a hard left that is plainly visible. This leads up a small hill and around a corner. There is a right turn leading under a bridge. Be ready for a square left which wraps around and over the bridge. Finally, there is a long round left. 14) Mediterranean SS2 Conditions: Day, Partly cloudy Surfaces: 16% Gravel, 84% Tarmac Length: 4.9 Kilometers Elevation: -97 Meters On this course you spend some of the time on tarmac with a cliff on one side, and some of the time on gravel. Be prepared for sharp corners. --- Start --- Accelerate out of the start and prepare for a hard right turn with a guard rail on the outside. Take this first section of tarmac with caution. There are some small weaving curves. A straight section will appear and it tends to drop down. This is immediately followed by a square right turn. This leads to the gravel. --- Gravel --- Prepare for a left corner that heads downhill. This is followed by a hard right turn that is very level. The next section is straight with a slight bump in it. One more right leads back to tarmac. --- Tarmac Again --- The road curves left and heads down a hill. Be ready for a long gradual right. There are two left turns next. The cliff is now on the right side of the track. Another straight leading downhill is ahead. Prepare for a square right followed by a square left. There will be a winding section followed by a round right curve. The course has some small curves before the finish. 15) Mediterranean SS3 Conditions: Day, Clear Surfaces: 24% Gravel, 76% Tarmac Length: 3.4 Kilometers Elevation: -148 Meters This course is similar to Mediterranean SS1. This time you go down hill and near cliffs. There will be a mix of tarmac and gravel. Square corners are represented here. --- Start --- You start off on winding tarmac. This leads to a square right. You leave the tarmac and head downhill. --- Gravel --- There is a slight left and then a hard round right heading down. A straight leads back to tarmac. --- Tarmac Again --- This begins with a very curved left turn which heads downhill. Prepare for a very sharp right turn at the bottom. The next section is filled with small curves. The track continues to descend. Take caution with these corners. The road will make a very long left turn as you wrap around the mountain. With some skillful cornering, you will reach the finish. 16) Mediterranean SS4 Conditions: Evening, Rain Surfaces: 18% Gravel, 82% Tarmac Length: 4.4 Kilometers Elevation: +58 Meters This course is similar to previous Mediterranean courses. There are cliffs, gravel, and sharp turns. --- Start --- You start off by heading up a hill and through some curved irregular sections of tarmac. Next will be some straight sections with abrupt corners. After the first straight is a left curve leading to another straight. You then head up a hill and on to gravel. --- Gravel --- There are some modest curves here. Prepare for a sharp left turn. It can be surprising. Next will be a long round right leading off the gravel. --- Tarmac Again --- There will be a round left followed by a straight. This straight heads into a square left turn. There will be cliffs on the right side. Take the next several curves with caution. These small curves lead to the finish. 17) Mediterranean SS5 Conditions: Day, Partly cloudy Surfaces: 100% Tarmac Length: 3.4 Kilometers Elevation: -10 Meters This course is all tarmac. It is very curved. You may spend most of your time alternating between acceleration and braking. Be aware of cliffs for this track. --- Start --- The first several curves are plainly visible. You head in a downward direction and make quick spurts of braking at each corner. The road will start to rise up ahead. There is a bridge where it is very easy to fall off the track. At this point the cliff on the left ends while the cliff on the right begins. --- Change of Sides --- The driving is the same here as before. There are many small curves preventing you from simply accelerating constantly. You will start to move downward and the course curves more wildly. The finish is further down. 18) Mediterranean SS6 Conditions: Evening, Overcast Surfaces: 100% Tarmac Length: 3.4 Kilometers Elevation: +10 Meters This course is similar to Mediterranean SS5. It is all tarmac. It is very curved. There are cliffs on the sides. Driving this course will require frequent braking. --- Start --- This course starts off with frequent small curves. Take this section with caution. There will be a sharp left and right. This leads to a straight short section. Here the cliffs change from the left side to the right side. --- Change of Sides --- There will be some longer straight sections which you can take advantage of. There will be a long right turn that leads to the finish. B) Hill Climb Tracks --------------------- 19) Vista Peak Base Conditions: Morning Surfaces: 100% Gravel Length: 3.6 Kilometers Elevation: +299 Meters This course is quite narrow in most sections. There are lots of evergreens to the sides of the track. The trick is knowing how to handle the hairpins. --- Start --- Just out of the gate will be a slight kink left. Decelerate to handle the next tricky curve. It starts out as a left, then quickly rounds right, and finally descends left again. The track then rises and curves right very gradually before dropping down. --- Head Uphill --- The track turns left sharply at a point marked by signs on the right. This situation is repeated with a right turn. This right turn is somewhat hidden. It continues right even beyond what is visible on approach. --- Hairpins --- Now there will be a hairpin left. Approach it while braking. Turn inward and slide up the hill if you can. Further up the hill is a slight left turn. Approach this with caution. There will be a round right turn after the left. Next is another right turn. Accelerate at full power out of this because the next left is very mild. This leads to a straight. When you see signs on the right, start braking. There will be a left turn leading to level trail. There will be a right curve with a cliff on the outside. Approach it cautiously. There will be a fairly straight section after that. Prepare for a round and sharp right corner. This is immediately followed by a left rising hairpin. Next will be a hard right turn which leads to another left hairpin. The finish is in sight. 20) Vista Peak Ridge Conditions: Day, Partly cloudy Surfaces: 100% Gravel Length: 4.1 Kilometers Elevation: +289 Meters This course is all gravel which makes it easy to slide the corners. Most corners are wide and round. There are some tricky spots. Beware of small rocks that can somehow flip a car. --- Start --- Head out of the gate and approach the first right turn. This right is followed by a left. It is important to angle the car correctly coming over the slight hill. This is because you want to accelerate hard to the next deep right curve. After the deep right curve is a gradual left that is only partly visible on approach. Take caution up and over it. --- Start Climbing --- Head into a slightly rising left turn. This is wide enough to slide through. Accelerate out of the turn and head straight up the hill. There is a very small right followed by a deep right curve. This heads to a straight section just before another wide left. Now there is a straight with an obstacle in it. You can line up the car just right and continue accelerating through this. Prepare for a slight hook before a hairpin right. Take caution through this hairpin section. Next will be a straight with a right bend leading to a rising hairpin left. Head out of the hairpin and turn slightly right. Over a hill will be a bend left leading to a deep curve right. Finally, you reach the last tricky curve. It is a hard left followed by a hard right. It is easy to hit the outside fence, so take caution. 21) Vista Peak Summit Conditions: Morning, Clear Surfaces: 100% Gravel Length: 3.2 Kilometers Elevation: +194 Meters This course is very curved. Much of the time is spent cornering. A short gear ratio is useful. --- Start --- Accelerate out of the start and prepare for a rising hairpin left. Cautiously accelerate out of the hairpin because it is so tight. Prepare for a much wider right turn. Exit it with caution because the turn continues right and then sweeps left. The track turns more sharply left and then rises again. Next is a slight adjustment first right then left. Be cautious of little rocks here. After that is a deep right curve leading up a hill. Approach the left hairpin corner at the top of this incline with caution. --- More Sweeping Curves --- There will be a tight right curve followed by a tight left one. Pay attention to a fence ahead. You must turn right and then left very abruptly. Then there will be a long sweeping right heading upward again. Prepare for a left that starts gradually but then gets more curved. This leads to a slightly hidden round right curve. Following this is a tight left which leads to the finish. 22) Mt. Kiwi Base Conditions: Morning, Clear Surfaces: 100% Gravel Length: 3.9 Kilometers Elevation: +293 Meters This course has some long and gradual corners. There are bumps and hills. The straight sections are plentiful. It does not feel like a very steep hill climb. --- Start --- Accelerate out of the start and prepare for a slight curve left. This leads into a similar curve right. Pick up speed out of these curves and prepare for a hard right curve. --- Cliff to the Left --- Head up the hill and along the path headed right. Carry medium speed through this curve. When you see an incline in the track, decelerate. There will be a slight left over this hill. --- Cliff to the Right --- Maintain some speed over the hill because the road is fairly straight for a small section. The road will start to bend more to the left. --- Climb --- Head up the hill and decelerate to enter a bumpy right. There is a small bank on the outside. Next is a left leading up a hill. Be cautious while heading up this because of the next tricky section. There will be a right followed by a left which are both tight turns. A moderate right follows, and leads to an easy left. Accelerate for a long straight to the finish. 23) Mt. Kiwi Ridge Conditions: Morning, Partly cloudy Surfaces: 100% Gravel Length: 3.8 Kilometers Elevation: +462 Meters This course is a hill climb, but some of the course leads downhill too. Many of the turns are very round and gradual. It is possible to maintain high speeds throughout most of the course. --- Start --- You start out on a steep incline. Head out of it and make the simple left. Almost immediately there will be a tricky right and left curve. Head up the next straight section and keep going after the jump. Prepare for a right curve through some banks. --- Downhill --- Now the course heads downward somewhat and into a long right curve. Slide through it if possible and head up the hill again. --- Uphill --- Very soon up the hill will be a hard left turn. Continue left and head up to the next right turn. --- Downhill --- Around the corner will be another drop into a long right curve. This one curves right until you enter a left above. --- Uphill --- Next will be a slight right curve leading into a hard left. This left heads up steeper hill. There will be a right turn as you rise. It is gradual. You can continue straight and then slide the car left for the final turn. 24) Mt. Kiwi Summit Conditions: Day, Partly cloudy Surfaces: 100% Gravel Length: 3.3 Kilometers Elevation: +411 Meters This is steeper than the other Mt. Kiwi hill climbs. There are many winding curves. --- Start --- Head up the hill to the first right turn. This is immediately followed by a hairpin left which rises. Continue upward to a right curve. Accelerate out of this right and prepare for a drop that starts to turn right, but then curves left. Further up this hill is a right followed by a left. The left will first appear as an incline. At its top, you must be turning left. Continue to a long straight section with a cliff on the right side. Prepare for a tricky curved section. --- Left, Right, Left --- This curve rises as you turn. You start out by heading left. Next you make a slight right and finally left up the hill. Accelerate for a straight section before reaching a hard right. --- Cliff to the Right --- Next is a fairly straight section. There is a jump followed by an inward shift of the track. It is easy to go off the jump and also off the cliff. Pay attention to some rocks further down this straight which are on the right side. You will need to prepare for a long left curve. Then there is one more left which rises to the finish. 25) Koenig Base Conditions: Day, Clear Surfaces: 100% Icy Tarmac Length: 4.3 Kilometers Elevation: +300 Meters This course can be driven at or near full speed for much of the track. There are some difficult turns, but most turns can be slid through. --- Start --- Accelerate out of the gate and head over the slight hill. There will be a left turn coming. You can use the snow bank as you turn left. Head straight down the path and prepare for a right turn. There is a dip that leads to long left turn. Next will be some blue signs that mark a square right turn. Approach this on the outside and start braking. Turn the car inward and accelerate to get it sliding. --- Climb the Hill --- The next section rises slightly and is very straight. Head right gradually as the road does. Prepare for a long left turn. You may not need to brake for this left. Now you are headed uphill on a long straight section. Be ready for a hairpin right. As you exit the hairpin, you can stay to the left and drive straight until the following sharp left. Next you can take the jump at full speed up the hill. There will soon be a bank on the left side. This marks a right turn followed by a left turn. These are small and do not require hard braking, just careful turning. Finally, there is a slight right leading to the finish at the top of the hill. 26) Koenig Ridge Conditions: Day, Snow, Partly cloudy Surfaces: 100% Icy Tarmac Length: 3.9 Kilometers Elevation: +417 Meters This course starts with a cliff on the right. It is important to know where to slow down. As you climb, there will be some very tricky curves. --- Start --- Accelerate out of the gate and head slightly right for the first section. Be cautious for the first part, but you can use the slant on a right curve without falling off the cliff. Head down a straight section and prepare for a bend in the track. Since it is a small right turn, you should brake for it. After this detour is more straight track before a very sharp left leading uphill. --- Up a Slippery Slope --- Head up the hill cautiously and prepare for a small right followed by a small left. This leads you to a tricky corner with a fence on the left side. You should approach slowly and make a right. Don't swing the car around too far. You want to make a left and head up the hill. Head upward and turn slightly left. You can drive straight for a small section while the track oscillates. Prepare for a hard right that gets steep. Now you will be headed straight up the hill. Take caution here because the turns are long and gradual. There is a gradual left leading into a gradual right and then another gradual left. --- Hairpins --- Now you must enter a left turn and then swing the car around for a right. You do this two times in a row. There is a fence on the outside of the second set. After that is a small left leading to a straight section. Finally, there will be another set of hairpins. You start out with a mild right leading into a hard left. Don't swing too far right. Accelerate up the hill and around the last right turn to the finish. 27) Koenig Summit Conditions: Day, Snow, Overcast Surfaces: 100% Icy Tarmac Length: 4.2 Kilometers Elevation: +284 Meters This course has some steep sections. It not only climbs, but also dips down in some areas. Your car can get well off the ground here. --- Start --- Accelerate out of the gate and head over the first two bumps. There is a sharp right turn just beyond the second bump. Then the road heads upward with a sharp left turn. Following that is a straight enough section to drive through and up the hill. --- Drops --- Now the course will head downhill and rise again. Up ahead will be a gradual left followed by a sharper right marked with signs. Then you will head upward and into the next Drop. You can carefully weave through the lower portion by driving the inside of each curve. --- Hairpins Ahead --- Prepare to make a sharp right followed by a very tight left which is steep. This leads to an easier right turn. Now you will be between pines and banks. Brake as the incline is nearing. You need to head right and then left around the fence. This is followed by a right marked by signs and then a left marked by signs. --- Straight Hills --- Head full speed over the hills. The track curves slightly right and then left. The finish is at the end of this stretch. 28) Vista Peak Base Downhill Conditions: Night, Overcast Surfaces: 100% Gravel Length: 3.6 Kilometers Elevation: -299 Meters This course is quite tricky going downhill. The conditions are listed as night, but it is not very dark. --- Start --- Head out of the gate and prepare for a hard right turn leading down. Head straight toward some signs marking a left turn. Make the turn. Next is a longer right turn followed by a similar left. Head straight down the next section and prepare for a long left with a cliff on the right. --- Down the Hill --- Now there will be a right turn leading straight down. Speed down the hill and look for signs on the left. These signs will indicate a slight right turn followed by a harder left. Next is a slight left followed by a similar right which drops down. Be ready for a hairpin right which is further down. Then there will be a long rounding left turn. This is followed by a medium right. --- Up the Hill --- Now you will drive upward a little and to the left. This heads down again and to the right. Prepare for a tricky curve. It starts right, then curves left, and finally curves right again. One final right kink leads to the finish. 29) Vista Peak Ridge Downhill Conditions: Morning, Clear Surfaces: 100% Gravel Length: 4.1 Kilometers Elevation: -289 Meters This course has a few tricky corners near the top. As you move down the hill, you will find some very round curves which are easy to slide around. --- Start --- You will almost immediately enter a tricky curve heading downhill. This curve heads left and then right. Accelerate out of this and prepare for a slight bend left. This is a pretty straight section leading to a left hairpin. Next will be a small curve right on level track. Prepare for a blind right just after a slight left. This right heads downhill and continues to curve beyond visibility. --- Cliff on the Left --- There is a bend left followed by a straight section. There are rocks in the area which can somehow stop your car completely. Take caution when approaching the next left hairpin. There is actually a slight right before the hairpin left. --- Sweeping Curves --- Next will be a long straight section. This leads into a nice wide right curve. Brake early and turn right. Accelerate through to slide this corner. Head straight down the path to enter a similar left turn. After that is another right curve, but it is not as wide. Then there will be a slight bend right which leads into a sweeping left. Lastly, there will be a slight right followed by a longer left which leads to the finish. 30) Vista Peak Summit Downhill Conditions: Day, Clear Surfaces: 100% Gravel Length: 3.2 Kilometers Elevation: -194 Meters This course is full of very tight curves. A short gear ratio is helpful. Be aware of rocks near some of the turns. --- Start --- Just out of the gate will be a bank on the left. You can go around this at full speed. Prepare for a sharp right curve. This is immediately followed by a similar left. Prepare for a sweeping right curve ahead. After that will be a long left curve. --- Tricky Curve --- Now you will see a fence approaching. You need to weave through this. It turns right sharply and then left sharply. Take it with caution. --- More Curves --- Next is a tight right curve. This is followed by a similar left curve. A very tight right heads downhill and into a tight left. Next will be a slight adjusted right. It leads into a long round right which slowly straightens out and heads downhill to a long sweeping left. Finally, there is a hairpin right leading to the finish. 31) Mt. Kiwi Base Downhill Conditions: Evening, Clear Surfaces: 100% Gravel Length: 3.9 Kilometers Elevation: -293 Meters This course can be driven at high speeds in many sections. There are a few tricky curves to slow down for. --- Start --- First there will be a long straight which leads into a right curve. This heads down to a round left curve. Next is a quick right and left curve. It gets steeper downward requiring braking early. Over the next hill will be a banked left corner which is bumpy. --- Cliff on the Left --- Head down a fairly straight section and prepare for a long gradual right. You can maintain high speed through here. Prepare to turn a little more right. --- Cliff on the Right --- There is a long straight section leading into a left turn which sharpens as you go. Then the road makes a shift right and left. Carry speed through this. Prepare for a left curve through some banks. This leads to a right heading to the finish. 32) Mt. Kiwi Ridge Downhill Conditions: Day, Overcast Surfaces: 100% Gravel Length: 3.8 Kilometers Elevation: -462 Meters This course has some rocks to look out for on some of the sides. There are some steep sections where it is easy to gain momentum. --- Start --- Head out of the gate and prepare for a right turn leading down a straight stretch. Soon you will enter a wide left curve. Further down, the road curves right shortly, then left shortly, and finally right again. Then you enter a long left curve heading upward. Next will be a fairly straight section which drops down just before a left turn. It is important to brake before this drop so you can stay on the track. Following this is a right turn that goes between some banks and then swivels slightly. Continue right and down to another long sweeping left curve. --- Straight Downhill --- Again, you will head between some banks and down the long straight. Prepare for a right adjustment in the course. Some signs will mark a small right and left curve. Further down is a right hook leading to the finish. 33) Mt. Kiwi Summit Downhill Conditions: Evening, Partly cloudy Surfaces: 100% Gravel Length: 3.3 Kilometers Elevation: -411 Meters This is one of the steepest courses. It contains some hairpins and other tricky obstacles. --- Start --- You start with a right turn heading downhill. Prepare for a gradual right turn with a cliff to the outside. Head down the straight section. There will be a jump just before a hairpin left. Accelerate down the hill and approach a jump with some caution. This leads to a small and tricky right, then left, then a right again. --- Cliff on the Left --- Now you are headed down a straight section which leads to a jump. This jump hides a downward moving right, then left curve. --- Curves to the Bottom --- Don't swing the car around too far in this deep section. You dropped down right, then left, and then right again. You now need to come up over a hill with speed. You will see a left curve as you approach it. It gets tighter as you turn. Finally, there is a sharp right followed by an easier left to the finish. 34) Koenig Base Downhill Conditions: Morning, Partly cloudy Surfaces: 100% Icy Tarmac Length: 4.3 Kilometers Elevation: -300 Meters This course has a steep and tricky early section. Then it will get very flat but still have some tricky curves. --- Start --- First, you will enter a long drop with swings in the track. Prepare for a right curve which is beyond a bump. This leads to a straight section. You will need to slow down for a left hairpin corner. This leads straight to the bottom. --- Flat Section --- Now there will be a long curved right turn. The road will curve slightly left in preparation for a square left. Accelerate out of this and start to move right with the track. There will be a long gradual left as you approach a right turn. You can use the snowbank to help maintain speed. Head up the hill and to the finish. 35) Koenig Ridge Downhill Conditions: Day, Clear Surfaces: 100% Icy Tarmac Length: 4.0 Kilometers Elevation: -418 Meters This course has many tricky curves. There are some straight sections where you can help your time. --- Start --- Accelerate out of the gate, but prepare for a very sharp left turn leading downhill. Next there will be a hairpin right. Accelerate out of it and prepare for a right turn after a bump. --- Hairpins --- There is a fence on the outside of the first left turn. Take caution through these curves. There is a left and then a right. This is repeated again. --- Less Curved Section --- You now enter a section of longer curves. There is a right, a left, and then a right. After that will be some small turns that don't really require you to turn your car too much. Prepare for a very tricky right turn followed closely by a left turn. This is the turn with a bank, some rocks nearby, and a fence. You must slow down hard and turn right. Take caution and turn the car left at the appropriate time. There will then be some small curves leading to the flat section. --- Cliff on the Left --- Prepare for the square corner as you enter the flat part. You can accelerate hard until you approach a bank on the right side. Brake for this detour to stay on the course. Prepare for the track to turn inward to the mountain. The finish is a little further down. 36) Koenig Summit Downhill Conditions: Day, Clear Surfaces: 100% Icy Tarmac Length: 4.2 Kilometers Elevation: -284 Meters This course lets your car fly higher than on most other courses. There are some uphill portions on this downhill. --- Start --- Accelerate out of the start. There will be some bumps to keep you busy. Shift right as the track does. Try to hit each jump straight or nearly straight. After the track shifts left, there will be a right hairpin just beyond a jump. This is almost immediately followed by a hard left and a hard right. A mild left puts you between pines and banks. Head over this hill with caution. Prepare for a hard left followed by a hairpin right. --- Dropping and Rising --- Next is the section with slightly weaving curves leading to a temporary rise in the track. Take the inside of each curve. Continue to accelerate over the hill. Some more banks will become visible. This leads to a hard left adjustment with some signs to the right. Head over the next hill with some caution. The track turns left slightly as it drops. Over the next hill will be some slight curves that you can drive straight through. Prepare for a right hairpin. Make one sweeping left and head over the jumps leading to the finish. C) Ice Racing Tracks --------------------- 37) North Hill Circuit Conditions: Day, Clear Surfaces: 100% Ice Length: 1.3 Kilometers Elevation: 0 Meters This course has snowy mountains in the background. It is not bumpy or hilly. There are no hairpin corners or long straights. The corners are very round and gradual. -- Start -- Accelerate fully and head under the "Toyo Tires" bridge. Move slightly to the left to get a good sliding angle for the first right. -- First Right -- This is a very gradual turn. It is possible to launch over the outside snowbanks. Decelerate and turn the car inward. Accelerate cautiously and then change direction to slide through the black tire. -- Icy Right -- This is another gradual right turn. The surface is very slick. Turn the car right and accelerate to push it through the turn. It is important not to push it too hard and end up in the snowbank ahead. -- S Turn -- Decelerate momentarily before entering this left turn. It is a gradual left that leads into a right. Turn the car toward the direction of the curve and accelerate. In the middle of the turn, decelerate briefly and change the direction of the car. Accelerate out of the turn. -- Straight -- There is a slight bank on the right side. It may be possible to keep accelerating through it with a good angle. This is the last stretch of the track. 38) North Hill Speedway Conditions: Evening, Partly cloudy Surfaces: 100% Ice Length: 1.3 Kilometers Elevation: 0 Meters This course is very flat and icy. There are mountains in the background and the setting sun has a slight orange effect on the sky. Some turns are sharp and there are some straight stretches. -- Start -- Accelerate forward and slightly right to get a good angle on the first tricky section. The track curves slightly left and a hair right. Going too fast through here can put your car in the surrounding snowbanks. -- Tight Left -- Decelerate heavily when approaching this curve. Turn the car left at a deep angle and begin to accelerate. Head down the straight section cautiously. It is easy to end up in the following snowbank upside down. -- S Curve -- This is a sharp right followed by an even sharper left. Decelerate heavily when the "Castrol GTX" arc comes into view. Turn the car right and start to accelerate through. Decelerate for a brief moment in between turns. Shift the car left very tightly through the left. Accelerate in full force at the end of the tight left. -- Long Left -- This is the last section of the course. The signs on the right can be moved around if you do not slow down enough or get a good angle. Turn the car left slightly for the first section and turn tighter as the turn gets tighter. You can slide through this curve if you turn slightly more than the direction you want to go. Accelerate with the tight angle to get the slide effect through the finish. 39) Frost Ridge 1 Conditions: Morning, Snowing Surfaces: 100% Ice Length: 1.1 Kilometers Elevation: 0 Meters This track is flat and icy. The gray sky and the snow make visibility lower. Luckily, the signs on the sides of the track help you see where to go. There are some straights and gradual corners. The track is ice. -- Start -- Accelerate quickly and slightly left. The first corner will be coming fast. It is a deep right curve. -- S Turn -- The first turns are a right followed by a left. Turn the car right to enter the first of these. Accelerate slightly and point toward the outside of the next corner heading left. Brake momentarily to maintain control of the car as you enter the left corner. Turn the car left upon entering the left curve and accelerate out. Get a good jump on the short straight. -- Right Turn -- As the yellow signs get closer, begin braking and turning the car right. Accelerate through the corner and continue down the straight. -- Crooked Right -- As you head down the straight, there will be a fence on both sides of the track. The track tends to veer left just before turning right. Slow down as you approach this. With a good angle, you can move slightly left and then slide right. -- Right -- There is one more deep right curve before the finish. As you come under the black tire, start wide and cut in. Slide through the corner and gain speed for the straight. 40) Frost Ridge 2 Conditions: Day, Partly cloudy Surfaces: 100% Ice Length: 0.9 Kilometers Elevation: 0 Meters This is a very icy track with some tricky corners. It is flat with snowbanks and fencing surrounding nearly everything. -- Start -- Begin accelerating but be aware of the tight left turn that is immediately beyond the starting line. It can help to start veering right to get a good angle. -- Hard Left -- This turn is just past the "Toyo Tires" bridge. Decelerate early and cut inward to slide through. There is a slight right curve at the exit of this turn. Accelerate out of this and throttle down the straight. -- Left Turns -- There are two slight lefts that can be overcome by starting wide and veering in. Next is a deep left turn. Start braking forcefully and turn the car left. It is important to start wide and slide in. -- S Curve -- Immediately after those lefts, is a very tight S corner. Start braking and be on the left side as you approach the right turn. Turn right and accelerate enough to keep momentum for the hairpin left. Swing the car around and accelerate through the finish. 41) Lake Bauer Short Conditions: Day, Partly cloudy Surfaces: 100% Ice Length: 1.7 Kilometers Elevation: 0 Meters This course is flat with snowbanks and signs surrounding it. There are some straights and some moderately oscillating curves. The surface is ice. There are white snowy mountains in the background. -- Start -- Accelerate forward and move slightly left. The first corner is a medium right. -- Right -- This first right is not too sharp. Start wide and curve inward. Accelerate and slide through the very modest left. -- Long Right -- This curve is not sharp but it is long. When you start to see red signs on the right, you are almost through it. Accelerate out and down the straight. -- Oscillation -- This is a section of three modest curves. It is a left, then right, and then a left leading to a straight. Sliding through these corners may cause too much wobble for the car to stay in control. It is important to exit these with control to get good acceleration on the following straight. -- Long Right -- At the end of this straight is a long curving right turn. It is possible to slide through this. Start on the left side and decelerate. Turn the car inward and accelerate to get the slide started. Continue pushing the car through the turn and prepare for a slight left. -- Finish -- There is a slight left and then a right. It is important to get a good angle for the final right turn. Early deceleration can help steer the car for the needed burst of speed. 42) Lake Bauer Conditions: Evening, Snow, Overcast Surfaces: 100% Ice Length: 1.9 Kilometers Elevation: 0 Meters The track is ice, the sky is gray, and it is snowing. There are some tough spots on this course. Gradual turns and straights are present. -- Start -- Accelerate forward and prepare for a slight left followed by a slight right. Sliding these early turns may not be necessary with a good angle. -- Round Left -- This is a long curve. Start wide, decelerate, turn in and accelerate out. -- Kinked Straight -- The next straight is somewhat tricky. Near the middle of it is a kink with a wall on the left side. It is crucial to get a wide angle to avoid collision. Approach it from as far left as possible and slow down enough to have control of the car. Start to veer right as the snowbank approaches on the right. You want to clip just between the fence and snowbank. It can be a tight fit if you are unprepared. -- Right, Left -- Next is a wide right turn followed by a left. Approach from the left and turn toward the blue "Michelin" arc. Accelerate through and steer left. When you see the track straighten out, head down the straight. The straight is longer than it may seem at first. -- Left -- This is well after the bridge above the straight. After accelerating down a long stretch, it is important to brake hard. Turn the car left and accelerate out. -- Finish -- There is a slight right followed by a left leading to the finish. The final left can be angled and slid through to maintain a high speed. Take less speed through the right and more speed coming out of the left. D) Rallycross Tracks --------------------- 43) Lakepoint Ring Conditions: Day, Clear Surfaces: 61% Gravel, 39% Tarmac Length: 2.5 Kilometers Elevation: 0 Meters This course is a combination of gravel and tarmac. The tarmac is at the start line. From there, the gravel portion heads right and up a hill. The turns and hills are moderate. -- Start -- Immediately accelerate at full power. Move slightly to the left to get a good angle on the first right turn. This turn is mild. -- Right up the Hill -- This is a sharper turn and has tires piled up on the outside. It is important to decelerate early and start wide. Turn the car inward and then accelerate through. This should cause the car to slide through the turn and sprint up the hill. -- Blind Left -- As the trees up ahead start coming into view, start braking. This turn is not visible until you are at its entry. Start from the far right and turn slightly left. This is not the sharpest corner, but it must be dealt with. Push hard up the hill and through the arc overhead. -- Right -- As soon as the arc has been reached, slow down heavily to avoid slipping off into the grass. The first part of this right curve is moderate and leads to tarmac. The next is tighter and slightly rising. Start wide, then move right. -- Descent -- There is a slight hill leading down and left. This left is so gradual that braking may not be necessary. You can clip the inside corner of it and start to decelerate when you reach the flat part. Next is a right turn and the surface changes from gravel to tarmac. This may cause difficulty when approaching the finishing straight. Start sliding before the tarmac. 44) Lakepoint Course B Conditions: Day, Overcast Surfaces: 61% Gravel, 39% Tarmac Length: 2.6 Kilometers Elevation: 0 Meters Similar to Lakepoint Ring, this course is a combination of gravel and tarmac. It begins on tarmac and moves up a hill of gravel. There are some blind turns up on the hill. -- Start -- Immediately accelerate and move slightly right in preparation for the incline. -- Incline -- This incline is a left turn followed by a slight right. You can clip the inside of the right and not lose speed. Start each turn wide and move into the corner, then throttle out. -- Long Left -- This left is on tarmac again. It is not too sharp, but it is long. Slow down slightly for it. Don't throttle out because of the blind corner ahead. -- Blind Hill -- There is a left followed by a right. The signs bordering the gravel are helpful for this section. Watch the orange and blue "76" signs on the right for the next tricky curve. This is followed by another right that is partially hidden at its end. Keep the car turned through the blind section. -- Down the Hill -- As you come down the hill, there will be a very sharp left turn. There are tires piled up on the right side. Decelerate to prepare for this corner. Since you are still on gravel, turn inward and accelerate through this. You should slide through when accelerating out of this corner. -- Last Corner -- There is a mild left curve on the tarmac. You can clip the inside without too much braking, if any. Head through the black tire that is rainbowed over the course. Head straight to the finish. 45) Deer Park GP Conditions: Evening, Partly cloudy Surfaces: 75% Gravel, 25% Tarmac Length: 1.6 Kilometers Elevation: 0 Meters This course is mainly gravel and surrounded by evergreens. There are several round, long curves. Most of the course is banked to help keep you from flying off at the corners. -- Start -- Immediately accelerate and head slightly right to get a good angle for the first left corner. -- Sweeping Left -- The first section of this turn is not too sharp. The next part of the left is very sharp. Take the first long section without too much speed. Start drifting to the outside to prepare for the sharper section. Turn inward and slide by accelerating out. -- Long Straight -- Head slightly right and through the "Castrol GTX" arc. Accelerate down the straight stretch. -- Left and Right -- The long straight section begins to curve left and becomes tighter. Decelerate by the time you reach the tight left. Curve inward and accelerate to push the car to the upcoming right turn. Change direction of the nose and slide through the right turn. -- Final Left -- This is a modest left turn and might not require braking. Angle the car left and pointed at the finish. 46) Deer Park Raceway Conditions: Day, Partly cloudy Surfaces: 53% Gravel, 47% Tarmac Length: 1.8 Kilometers Elevation: 0 Meters This course is almost half tarmac and half gravel. There are plenty of sweeping corners with banks on the outside. This course is nearly flat with only slight inclines. There are many trees surrounding this course. -- Start -- Start accelerating forward and to the right. There is a slight curve right leading into the first deep turn. -- S Turn -- Prepare for the deep left curve and brake if necessary. Accelerate through with an angle to slide. Decelerate quickly and momentarily to slide through the right turn. Launch out of this and into the straight. -- Upward -- There is a slight right. At a good angle, you can accelerate through this section. The course heads up to a tight right. -- Right, Left, Right -- The first right up this hill is blind at first. Take it easy up the curve and prepare for the next left. The left is a sharp one and leads back to gravel. Head under the "Castrol GTX" sign and decelerate for the sweeping right. There is a bank on its outside in case you don't slow enough. Turn the car inward and start to accelerate out. The gravel turns should be easier to slide on. -- Finish -- The surface changes to tarmac and slightly curves right. Accelerate to the finish and quickly decelerate for the next turn. 47) Petersfield Conditions: Evening, Overcast, Rain Surfaces: 62% Mud, 38% Tarmac Length: 1.9 Kilometers Elevation: 0 Meters This course is a combination of mud and tarmac. Rain has a slippery effect on the tarmac. There are slight hills, a few nearly hairpin turns and some long stretches of straight. -- Start -- Quickly accelerate forward and prepare for the very tight first right corner. Start braking hard near the curve. -- Right and Straight -- It may be difficult to use a slide technique for this tarmac corner. Start wide and cut inward. Accelerate through the long straight and up the hill. -- Hard Left -- Start braking quickly and forcefully several car lengths before this left. The surface is mud now so turn inward and accelerate to slide through. -- Down, Around, Repeat -- Use full throttle down the slant and stay wide. Be aware of changing surfaces. Turn the car inward and head up the hill. -- Left, Right -- Start to decelerate as you approach the top of the hill. There is a slight left followed by a right. -- Finish -- Make the last right turn to the finishing stretch. Get a good angle for the straight by starting wide. 48) Petersfield Circuit Conditions: Day, Partly cloudy Surfaces: 46% Mud, 54% Tarmac Length: 1.5 Kilometers Elevation: 0 Meters This course is almost half mud and half tarmac. It is a very flat course with some slight inclines. The corners are gradual and frequent. The banks should prevent you from going too far. -- Start -- Accelerate fully and move slightly right to get a better angle for the slight left. Some braking may be necessary for the left turn. -- Round Left -- Decelerate enough to get the nose of the car turned inward. Accelerate to slide out and head under the "Castrol" bridge. -- Long U Turn -- Head down the hill and prepare for a hairpin left. Slide around by first braking and then turning inward to accelerate out. -- Sweeping S -- Head right and stay inside of the bank. Start to decelerate and pull the car into a slide. Accelerate to the immediate left turn. Decelerate suddenly upon entry. Pull the car left and slide through to the finish. __________ XI.
