Using players from Central and South America, they will bring their fiery spirit to life as they channel the potential power of the flame! El Diablo is a former masked Mexican wrestler who has a competitive streak that is quite pronounced with his aggressive yelling. He has incredible strength, which makes him a fierce hitter and strnog shooter. He does struggle in the speed and steal categories because of his large size. After collecting his power-ups from teh Soccer Shop, he will have increased speed and stealing, which will not only make him more well rounded as a player, he will also be able to catch people easier to hit them with his great strength and break to the open shots much easier. Madeira is a saucy little firecracker of a thing who is very into the martial arts. The small but quick Brazilian has lots of speed and stealing ability. However, her small frame does not allow for hard shots or hard knocks on her opponents. The Soccer Shop will increase her shooting and hitting abilities to give the tiny girl more teeth for her bite. Rico is an Argentianian soccer legend who has brought fame to his small home town. He has played in many games, and he reveres the game of soccer like a religion. He is exceptionally good at all skills, but he does not stand out in any category. The Soccer Shop will give him increases in strength (hitting and shooting) as well as quickness (speed). ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ | | | | | | | | | |___ |___| | |___| | | | | | | \ | | |___| | _|_ | \ _|_ | A team that hails from their pitch at the Desert Oasis, they will use the heat to best their opposition. A team that uses their incredible athleticism to rob their opponent's of the ball, the three different members of Spirit will call upon their own beliefs to power them to victory! Djimon hails from Kanya, and he is a witch doctor whom no one seems to be able to feel at ease around (except his team mates). His weird chants and sayings may throw people off, but his skills at shooting and hitting are what people learn to fear. Although he suffers in speed and passing skills, the Soccer Shop can aliviate his poor passing (no speed upgrade). Kaimani is a wild South African who hits the water to ride the waves when not on the soccer pitch. With his uncanny ability to predict the future, he hits and shoots quite well, but suffers in speed and stealing departments. The Soccer Shop can supplement both areas with upgrade items. Zari is a Nigerian who has an incredible build to her, and yet appears to be the "mother Africa" type, she is an incredible athlete. She is a little older, which explains her one weakness, speed. The Soccer Shop will turn this well-rounded player into a one team wrecking crew that you will learn to love if she is on your side, or hate if she lines up on the opposing side. ___ ___ ____ ___ ___ ___ | | | | | \ / | | | | | |___ | | |___/ / |__ |___| | | | | | | \ / | | \ | | |___| |___| |___/ /___ |___ | \ |___| Subzero playes out of the Alpen Castle in the high mountains of Europe. They specialize at using their incredible strength to beat their opponents into submission, and this requires a cold heart to do. This also explains why they call upon the coldness of ice as their elemental power, with their high altitude digs and their cold attitudes towards their opposition. Half-Pint is a soccer hooligan from England who seemed destined to be bashing heads from the day he came into the world wailing at the top of his lungs. This might explain why the wildman of the U.K. specializes in hitting, with some decent shooting abilities. Due to his large size, he is not a speed fiend, nor is he graceful enough to steal or pass well. The Soccer Shop can help out with his slow foot speed, there will be TWO increases in hitting for the guy who aims for peoples heads with the ball instead of the net most of the time. Kiril is an ex-Cosmonaut who was the best of the best. He is almost insanely devoted to the promotion of the greatness of "Mother Russia", he will bring his formidable skills of passing, shooting, and hitting to the forefront. Despite poor speed and stealing abilities, the Soccer Shop will supplement this with speed and stealing as well as an increase in his passing, he will become a near unstoppable force, like he sees his home country as becoming oer the rest of the world. Lola is from Germany, where she hits all the musical dance clubs to party down. She uses her bottomless energy to run and steal with a frenzy few (if any) can match. Her shooting and hitting will suffer because of this, but the Soccer Shop will alliviate this while giving her even better pickpocket abilities. ___ ___ ___ ___ | | | \ / | | | | | \/ | | | | | /\ | | | |___| / \ _|_ |___ This team plays in one of the most inhospitable places on the planet, from the inside of a nuclear reactor in the Reactor Core. With their incredible ball control, this team will pass around the competition till the confusion casues many easy wins for the nuclear-powered team. They will call upon their radioactive insignia when they power-up, and they will use it to inflict their pain upon the opposition! Duke is an All-American who excels at all sports, and sees the competition in the league as the toughest around. Hailing from California, he uses his good looks and natural athleticism to be an amazing passer, hitter and shooter. The Soccer Shop will help increase his slight lack of speed as well as poor stealing abilities. Nova is a super smart genius who uses his intellect as well as an incredible gift of athleticism. The four-eyed nerd may not be the coolest guy around, but he has speed, passing, and stealing abilities that are incredibly high. The Soccer Shop will help to fix up his shooting abilities as well as his passig abilities, with no hitting upgrade to be found. Raine is a gung-ho vegetarian from Canada who is out to save the world through her can-do attitude. This little trooper will use her impressive speed, stealing, and passing skills to bring attention to all of her environmental causes. Although she is rather weak (thus her low shooting and hitting abilities), she can be upgraded at the Soccer Shop as well as an improvement on her great stealing ability. ___ ___ ___ ___ | | | | | |\ | | | |\ /| | | |___ | | | \ | |___| | \/ | | | | | | | \ | | | | | | | |___| |___| | \| | | | | _|_ As the impressively sized opponents from the Pacific Rim play out of their Pacific Atoll pitch, they will shoot the lights out on their opponents. Definitely the most varied group of players in their ethnicity, they use their dead on shooting to beat opponents back into the ocean. The ocean is their elemental power they call upon to wash their opponents from their path to ultimate victory! Boomer is a large Australian Outbacksmen who has never missed a meal. This man is the master of many dangerous animals, and he is also the master of shooting and hitting on the pitch. He is incrdibly slow (thanks to his girth), and he has poor passing and stealing abilities. The Soccer Shop will help this behemoth of a man to improve in his three weak areas of stealing, speed, and passing, so he becomes a well-rounded threat to the opposition. Kahuna is an island man who has a big heart to match his big body. The big man can shoot hard and accurrately as well as smack an opponent to the ground with great ease. His passing, stealing, and speed are rather low, but the Soccer Shop can improve his three weaknesses to offer another well-rounded player who can blow the ball by the goalie while knocking foes to the ground. Rumiko is a Japanese girl who has a near-religious fascination with the efficiency of machines. She is so into her gadgets that she is armored head to toe with her toys, and these help her to excel at speed, shooting, and hitting. The Soccer Shop can help her to increase these three areas, which makes her an offensive force that will score a HUGE amount of goals. She suffers on defese though, and that can be a liability. ___ ___ ___ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |___| \ / | | | | | | \/ |___| |___ | | | Constructed from the finest speedsters Europe has to offer, the squad of Volta plays out of their Riveria Ruins stadium. These electric performers will run circles around the competition while making it look incredibly easy. With their ability to call upon electricity as their elemental power, they will run the competition into the ground while cruising to victory! Angus is an incredibly confident man who is the founder of this track team pretending to be a soccer team. The Scotsman has well-rounded stats with exceptional speed and hitting stats. He does have horrific shooting abilities, but the Soccer Shop can not only increase this stat, but it can further elevate his hitting and stealing abilities. Arsenault is one cocky fellow who believes himself to be a descendant of the throne in France. The Frenchman will talk a continual stream of snooty sayings to the opposition as he uses his awesome speed, passing, and stealing abilities. With poor shooting and hitting, Arsenault can be a liabiltiy until the Soccer Shop is bought out of his items, which increase his shooting and elevate his stealing and passing (his hitting remains poor, so stealing is a better defensive idea). Dante is an Italian Stallion who believes himself to be the greatest looking being in the world. In fact, he believes himself to be as good of a soccer player as his looks, and this is not hard to concieve when his great skills (with the exception of passing) are considered. The Soccer Shop will not improve this one flaw, but he will increase his shooting a little and his speed greatly. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------Play Modes-------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) This section will look at how the different play modes will affect the game type you choose. o-----------------o | Exhibition Mode | o-----------------o This is a single game played between One Player and the Computer or Two Players. After choosing the two teams that are involved, you will then have to choose the arena you wish to compete in. You can also set the time limit for the halves. o------------o | Quest Mode | o------------o This mode requires you to select one of the six teams. You will then enter into a schedule of hosting a team, enter a skills competition, and then repeat the cycle until you have played the other five teams once each. You will then play in the All-Star game with your best player and two best players from other teams against the best players from the three remaining teams. You will then have to play against each team on their hmoe turf, followed by the top four teams entering the Play-Offs (1 vs 4, 2 vs 3). The winners of those two games will play in the final for the Continental Cup. Along the way, you can use the money won frmo wins and skill competitions to enter the Soccer Shop and purchase upgrades for your characters (these are detailed in the Power-Ups section) as well as some character art, which contains cheat codes for the team within (check out the Codes section for these). o-----------------o | Tournament Mode | o-----------------o This mode wil require a player to select one team, and then a random schedule will be set-up with each team playing one another once. The winner is decided by totalling up the results of the five matches for each team (winner being the one with the most wins). If there is a tie, plus/minus for goals is the deciding factor for the ultimate champion. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------------Scoring---------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) This section will look at different ways to score, as well as how play points are totalled. o-----------------o | Scoring Methods | o-----------------o -Regular shots can go in. The harder the shot, the better the chance the ball has of going in. Shots can be aimed to a degree as well, so use this to your advantage. Also note that the harder the shot a goalie faces, the more armor he loses, thus making him less effective at stopping shots. So, let hard shots fly at him to wear him downa nd make him more vulnerable to hard shots. -One-timers are accomplished by passing the ball (A Button) to a player facing the net, who will then shoot the ball immediately, provided the player press the B Button before the ball arrives. A great way to score as it will often cause the goalie to be caught out of position. -Spotlight Shots are attempted whenever a Spotlight appears on the pitch, and the ball handler on offense gets into one. The Spotlight will proceed to follow the ball handler until one of three things happen: 1) they lose the ball, 2) they pass the ball, or 3) they start a shot. If they start a shot, the game will show their character looking at the net directly ahead as the player jumps intot he air and starts to set up their hard kick. The shot will last as long as the shooter holds the shot button down, and while lining the shot up, the player can use the Analog Stick to aim where the ball will go (represented by a target on screen, although this can be removed by choosing to do in the options). -Killer Kicks are earned whenever a team has garnered 500 total Power Points at any time. The player will then have to hold the R Button and the A Button down so the ball flies high into the air. Next the offesnive team has to get a player into the green circle to press the B Button to launch into the air to meet the ball (the opposition will be attempting to hit you to block this ascention). Now your player will start the kicking motion, at which point the player should aim the shot for an open part of the net using the Analog Stick (represented by a target on screen, although this can be removed by choosing to do in the options). o--------------o | Power Points | o--------------o -These are earned by pulling off successful moves on the pitch. The following are the point values for certain actions: Pass : 10 Power points Shot : 10 Power Points Protect: 15 Power Points Deke : 20 Power Points Hit : 20 Power Points Steal : 20 Power Points -These point totals can be multiplied when put into combos during a three second period. If you manage to get two moves together, you will recieve a x2 multiplier. For three moves together, you will recieve a x4 multiplier. For four moves together, you will recieve a x6 multiplier. This will not only give you a fair chance at scoring, but it will often create large rebounds for you to gather in and shoot for the net for easy goals. b) If a player is around you, slam them to the ground. If you take a player out of contention, this will not only make it easier to handle the current situation, you will also not be slammed to the ground by them so their team will have the advantage. c) When the computer kicks the ball to your end of the arena with no one down there, you have to bring a player back, right? Actually, you can take control of your goalie, and go get the ball from the corner. Just be careful to not miss the ball when doing so, or the computer might score an easy goal on your recently vacated net. d) Passing is an extremely useful tactic. Once you get adept at doing so, you can pass around the opposition while totalling big Power Points (often getting large totals ni the process). e) Beating the goalies will often turn into a positive. This works extremley well with three players (it can be done with two or less however), and what you do is have one player beat the goalie up and the other players cover the passing lanes. The goalie will knock your player to the ground, but keep returning to lay mor damage on him until he drops to the ground, at which point your players should charge in to grab the loose ball and score the easy goal. f) Use your Killer Kicks after having already taken a shot. If you use a Killer Kick without having shot the ball first, you will often have very little net to shot at as the goalie is in position in the center of the net. After saving a shot, the goalie will be much less likely to be in the right spot, thus making it easier to put one past him. g) On a Spotlight Kick, if you see players approaching to knock your player over, release the shot button immediately. This will allow you to get your shot off without just turing the ball over (remember that shot can lead to a rebound). h) On a breakaway, use your double turbo tap (L Button + R Button) to power-up your player (provided you have 100 Power Points to spend) with the element associated with their team. This will increase your speed, shot strength, and your ability to blow the ball past the goalie a lot easier. However, be aware of the increased speed as you approach, or you may crash into the goalie and waste your Power Points. i) Take the player in front of your net. Let your goalie handle the approaching player with the ball, because the computer is excellent at using the one-timer to score the easy goal. j) Use your smaller players to bring the ball up the pitch (they are faster and they pass more accurately), and have them give the ball to your tall players (they shot harder and more accurrately) to shoot for the goal. If you try to do this any other way, you are handicapping your players by not letting them shine where they are the best at the game. k) Shoot as much as possible at the net. Even if the goalie saves the initial shots, he will start to lose pieces of his armor. This might lead to the goalie making an improper save attempt, and thusly letting in a weak goal while making your total that much larger. This holds especially true in those tight games where an extra goal can be all of the difference in the world. k) Choose a team that compliments your worst weaknesses. This will make your shoddiest skills work at their best along with your greatest skills to give you the best chance of rarely losing. However, this is not a cure-all solution, so you should work on those weak skills to improve your game. l) Exploit the opposition's weaknesses. Your opponents may be strong in some areas of the game of soccer, but their weaknesses are where winning against them is usually won and lost.
