It's been a long time since I've been on GFAQS or GS but I'm back for now. I had no choice but to make a new account and I will elaborate: First, I'd like to say that it TRULY is me and to minimize confusion (sorta.. :P) I named my new account with a similar name. My email is still the same 'case if you have doubts. Second, the reason behind me making my new account: basically, I lost my password to my GS account and after months of trying to get it back, no dice.. What happened was, the email address I saved the changes for was wrong so I couldn't even send myself a Password Request Form. It was frustrating cause I knew there was no way any of the administrators would believe it was really me so I really had no choice. I've received literally LOADS of emails regarding many of my FAQS, prominently for Sonic Riders, and Need for Speed: MW 5-1-0. You can look forward to possible updates and new FAQ's by me for some other games. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1. FAQ Information This is an FAQ created by me to help all you Sonic Riders fans get through the game as quickly and as easily as possible. But, don't count on completing it in a couple of hours! ;) Also, be aware that this guide contains MANY SPOILERS about the stages, as well as Story Mode. If you do not want to spoil things for yourself, you are reading this guide at your own risk! Be aware of this. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3. Game Information Title: Sonic Riders Platform: Multi-platform My Rating: 9.8/10 Number of Players: 1-4 Simultaneous ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 4. Version History Version 0.7 - The guide meets GameFAQS standards, however, detail in some of the sections could be added in a later version. Also, my own personal records will be also incorporated in a later version. Also, a section pertaining to shortcuts as well as general tips for each of the 16 tracks will definitely be added in a later version. Missions for the Mission Mode section of the guide will also be added in a later version. Gear Gallery list is not 100% complete as I have not fully discovered all Gear in the game as of yet. As I find new Gear, I will input them into the Gallery section. Each gear in the Shop Section will be gone into more detail in a later version. Version 0.75 - Edited error I made in World Grand Prix. Changed from Dry Desert to DARK Desert. Was more specific in how to damage the Babylon Guardian in Story Mode. Version 0.8 - Changed Bronze Emblem requirements for World Grand Prix. Edited the Shop section - however, there is still room for improvement. Gear numbers: 42, 41, 54, 38, 15, 19, 21, 22, 28, 29, 32, 30, and 36 to the Gear Gallery. Gear number 38's name was edited slightly (in spacing). Version 0.85 - Added stats to E-10000 R for Survival Battle Mode. Also, I finally added my personal records to the guide. Edited methods of unlocking "Catch Me if You Can" in the Audio Room. Also, I will go into more detail about EACH TRACK in Version 1.0 or higher. Many are failing to see that this guide is less than Version 1.0 as of yet. Patience, please! Version 1.0 - Added detailed info to each Default Gear with the exception of the "E-Rider" Gear for Dr. Eggman. I also edited some of my personal records in Free Race and Time Attack. Added a new section, "Quotes". Format is established for this section but not all information is filled in as of yet. "Tracks" section has been added to the guide, also. Only format has been established, though. The guide now has all sections inputted into the guide (possibility of more but not that high), thus, the guide is now at Version 1.0, at last! Sections will now be gone into further detail in alternate versions. The final change was the editing of the order of Type-W and Type-S Gear. Version 1.1 - Added more quotes to Quotes section. Format has now been established there. Format has also been established in Tracks section and Metal City track section has been started and is in progress. Descriptor for the stage is all that is missing. Work will be started on Night Chase and potentially other tracks next version. Version 1.2 - Added descriptors for Splash Canyon, Red Canyon, and, Metal City; further descriptors will be added later; added more info on Metal City. New quotes added to Quotes section; some quotes have been edited. Also, a new record has been recorded for Metal City in Free Race. In the Gear section, I added a bit of information on the "Access" Gear but not much. Edited an error in the Table of Contents, as well. Version 1.4 - Edited personal records on Metal City, Ice Factory, SEGA Carnival, SEGA Illusion, Splash Canyon, Green Cave, White Cave; edited error in Story Mode - Sand Ruins; edited "Thank You" section to be "Acknowledgements" instead (sounds more catchy!); added a "Backlog" section to the guide to help keep track of things I need to do to the guide; edited format for Advantages/Disadvantages for each Gear in the Gear section but it still hasn't fully been implemented as of yet; Advantages/Disadvantages for Gear: Cover-S, Cover-F, Cover-P, Gambler, Grinder; added contact information to the Acknowledgements section of the guide; added about 4 more tips to Survival Battle Mode section. Version 1.41 - Edited contact information. Version 1.5 - Added track descriptors for all tracks remaining in the Tracks section of the guide; added Advantages/Disadvantages for A LOT of Gear as well as Statistics; on the note of the Gear Section, I also edited the formatting of this section, as well as filled in a lot of missing information - there's still more work to be done, though. Added track overviews for some tracks. Edited Shop Section a teensy bit. Version 1.51 - IMPORTANT NOTE regarding my account added. New quotes added. Records Section updated. Version 1.541 - Minor edits. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 5. Normal Race Select a track and compete in a race. Remember, worthwhile rewards await those who gain the Gold Emblem on either of the Cups! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 6. Story Mode Hold a race based on the storyline. ******** Story Mode Intro - Heroes ******** We find Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails on the search for a Chaos Emerald at night in Future City when suddenly, three mysterious figures appear on the scene, being chased by a bunch of police cars. Knuckles attempts to knock Storm off his board, Tails notices the emblem on that same board, and Sonic uses that same board to chase Jet and his band. However, Jet overtakes Sonic and Sonic is joined by his two friends as they leave the scene. The next day, however, Dr. Eggman announces the "EX World Grand Prix", 'a tournament to see who's the best of the best with Extreme Gear'. At first, Sonic and the others are sceptical but once they see the current champions on-screen of the billboard they are observing, they notice they are the same people they met last night in Future City. Sonic then pronounces that him, Tails, and Knuckles will all enter into this competition in an attempt to find out more about what Eggman is up to as well as uncovering the secrets behind the two mysterious birds... ******** Metal City ******** Mission: Finish in the Top 3! Designated Character: Sonic Difficulty: 4/10 Analysis: Sonic's first race in the EX World Grand Prix! Sonic must race against 7 other E-10000G robots in an attempt to come in 1st, 2nd or 3rd Place. Pretty easy even if you are a beginner to the game. Strategies: -Hold the A Button when you are near the first ramp and if you let go with the right timing, whilst holding up to perform a Front Flip, you can head onto the higher platform which should help put you in the top positions. -Since you are a Speed-type character, head for the rails at the start of the level if you failed to reach the higher platform at the start -Avoid performing tricks at the second ramp after the Flight Accelerators; this may give you air but it will also slow you down if you are not quick with your tricks -Head towards the left tunnel, not the right, or you may find yourself overwhelmed by barricades -After the left tunnel, stick towards the sides and wait for the ramps that appear at the side right before the on-going traffic hustle. Head up the half-ramp and perform a trick or two, then, whilst aloft, press the A Button to guide the rail in mid-air. Not only will this help you avoid the traffic but it can also help you come near first place -Perform a Dash or two on the straightaway after the tight corner and hold the A Button when near the ramp and if you release it on time, you will fly straight above a very high platform that will definitely put you in the lead! ******** Splash Canyon ******** Intro Knuckles and the others exit Future City whilst discussing about the three mysterious rouges as well as Dr. Eggman's plot. However, as they arrive, Amy is waiting there for Sonic to arrive. Sonic and the others are about to back away from Amy but Wave appears on the scene, laughing and scolding at the way Tails designed Sonic's Extreme Gear. This sparks his pride and Tails plans to show Wave who's the mecha-maniac in these parts! Race Mission: Finish in the Top 3! Designated Character: Tails Difficulty: 4/10 Analysis: Surprisingly enough, with Tails, this race should be a sinch! In my opinion, I find this level easier than Metal City. But, don't get cocky yet. Harder levels are to come afterwards... Strategies: -At the first jump, after the wide corner, if you hold the A Button and release it at the right moment whilst still remaining towards the left, you can dash right into an Accelerator that will lead you onto a higher platform that will help you get ahead of your opponents -At the second jump, get a good trick combo and stick to your left, for past the waterfall is a runway you can use to reach 2 Accelerators that will prove to be an effective shortcut for you to cross -After the waterfall, head left and dash up the runway and into the 3 Accelerators so you can move ahead of the pack -After the cave area, perform a nice trick combo and be sure to jump high into the air for you may reveal a Rainbow that will send you high-flying above your opponents below you -After this large jump, ride your opponents' turbulence in such a manner that you'll be able to overtake them. However, be sure to get a good trick combo and gain a lot of air for the Turbulence may not provide ample opportunity for you to overtake an opponent ******** Egg Factory ******** Intro Knuckles has, apparently, separated from the group. He, however, encounters Storm whilst exploring Eggman's base. Knuckles and Storm have an argument and E-10000R unwittingly gets involved! They decide to settle their dispute on the race track. Race Mission: Defeat Storm! (Finish in 1st Place!) Designated Character: Knuckles Difficulty: 6/10 Analysis: Eggman's Base is filled with traps and tight corners but you should be able to handle them successfully with Knuckles as your character. However, be careful when you get to the area with the rotating capsules. This area could decide whether or not you come in first place. Strategies: -Note that even if Storm comes in a position behind you in the end if one of the robots cross the finish line first, the race is over so you had better do your best to keep your position in 1st Place. -At the first jump, be sure to execute a nice trick combo to get some air you can use to Dash at the next two corners -At the second jump, if you hold the A Button long enough and release it with just the right timing, you'll go straight above a high platform that will give you a decent advantage on the race. -After the trampoline, be sure to stick to your right and overturn the barrels to reveal a shortcut where you must drift a corner after exiting the shortcut -Between the rotating capsules is a 100-Ring Box. It may be worth going for if you are behind but if you're a beginner to the game and still trying to get used to the controls, I wouldn't recommend you go for it, even though it'll help you to get in 1st Place -Stick to your left, near the rotating capsules and you'll come across a path where an Automatic Trail will be found at the end of it. Rotate the Control Stick continuously and this shortcut should thrust you into 1st Place or in another one of the Top 3 positions ******** Green Cave ******** Intro We arrive in the jungle where Sonic is brushing up on his skills to get further acquainted with his gear. However, Jet appears on the scene and he starts to spark Sonic's pride by stating he must try harder if he is to survive the competition 'till the end. This then gives an indication to Tails that in order to help them win the EX World Grand Prix, he'll need to improve Sonic's gear even further. Race Mission: Defeat Wave! (Finish in 1st Place!) Designated Character: Tails Difficulty: 8/10 Analysis: Quite difficult but not impossibly hard. You must come in 1st place to win even if Wave comes in a position lower than you near the finish line. Don't get lost along the jungle track! Strategies: -Perform a nice trick combo after the first jump to get an advantage of speed on your opponents -Along this wide corner, try Air Sliding, or, you can wade it out on someone else's Turbulence. -After the first corner to the right, head up the runway straight ahead to dash into the 4 Accelerators aloft in the air. This should get you in 1st, 2nd or 3rd Place easily. -After the centipedes, be sure to head up the ramp after the narrow corner at the side and fly right into the Accelerators aloft in the air. The Accelerators will lead you to the second- to-last jump -At this jump, be sure to hold A for quite some time and release with accurate timing to go shooting high above your opponents. If you go high enough, you may encounter a secret of spider webs which prove to be an effective shortcut that will certainly put you in 1st Place if your opponents fail to get it (which is kinda hard to tell if they will or not) ******** Sand Ruins ******** Intro Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles have all made it to the final race of the EX World Grand Prix. Amy has vowed to cheer Sonic on but Jet and his gang hope to defeat Team Hero and get the 7 Chaos Emeralds which are now all assembled at the Ruins. Race Mission: Defeat Jet! (Finish in 1st Place!) Designated Character: Sonic Difficulty: 7/10 Analysis: It's the final race of the EX World Grand Prix! Will you be able to handle the pressure of coming in first place?! Only time will tell. Be sure, though, to ride Turbulence and fully take advantage of your Type Skills for these will lead you to victory against Jet. Strategies: -At the first big jump, be sure to get a huge combo so you can press ahead of the pack right at the start -After the first big jump, stick to your left and grind the rail set before you; be sure to press A at the right moment to grind the second rail near the first one -After the rails, be sure to Dash -At the next jump, be sure to get another big combo so you can recover any lost air -Stick to the left after the jump and grind the rail that appears in light blue at the side of one of the platforms you are on; but be aware that there are two more rails to grind so after the first rail, press A with correct timing and move the Control Stick to your left to grind the second rail, then right when you press A for the third -After all these rails, be sure to Dash continuously to press on ahead of your opponents who probably used their Type abilities to press ahead of the pack (and you in the process) -After the tight corner, Air Slide to your right after all of the pedestals to your right appear out of the ground. Do so correctly and you can gain quite a bit on your opponents ******** Babylon Garden ******** Intro Both Team Hero and Team Babylon are in hot pursuit of Dr. Eggman who has taken Jet's ancestral control box and he plans to gain the treasure of Babylon. With the stakes set between Jet and Sonic, this level proves to be the perfect track for them to settle their Speed feuds once and for all! Race Mission: Defeat Jet once and for all! Designated Character: Difficulty: 9/10 Analysis: Certainly, the hardest level in all of Heroes Story. This level will have you trying to beat it for quite a while. Try not to stress yourself TOO much over it, and just remember a few things... Strategies: -Remember, rails and Air Slides are your friends! Use them to your full advantage in this level. Braking may also be a good technique to consider if you haven't used it up 'till now -There are many turns throughout the level that have no railings so there is a much higher chance of you falling off. Along these paths, try braking as well as Air Sliding. Knowing when to use each may be tough but practice makes perfect, right? -After the first big jump, be sure to Air Slide around the tight corner whilst using the Control Stick to get around it. -Ride the large winds of Turbulence from the Jet Planes and use the arrows as they appear to get some air and speed -Use the Jet Planes to overtake your opponents whilst aloft by rotating the Control Stick repeatedly in the right direction -Be sure to grind the rails found to the left of the path after landing from the Jet Planes. -After grinding, stick to the right of the course so as not to be overtaken when one of the Jet Planes destroys part of the track, exposing a large gap. -Near the end, the final turn should be taken with care. Rather than Air Sliding, try braking, and then, Dashing so you won't fall off along the no-rail path. -If you hold the A Button and release with correct timing at the final jump, you could land on an above platform, and with a powerful Dash, this may help you to overtake your opponents right before the goal! Post-Race Sonic finally catches up with Dr. Eggman but he plans to use Amy into blackmailing Sonic so he can get the treasure of Babylon no dice! However, what he wasn't counting on was the new gear Tails designed for Sonic for it helped him to get the control box back from Dr. Eggman. Jet, as if on que, appears on the scene, and he admits defeat. However, Sonic and the others feel it would be fair to give it back to Jet. Wave rudely takes it from Sonic and they leave the scene. However, just as Sonic is about to leave, Amy comes in and is ready to tackle Sonic with her Piko Piko Hammer for abandoning her! Sonic sure has his hands full doesn't he? But what about the Babylon Rouges? Have they left the Garden? Or are they still lurking nearby? The next story will answer those questions... ******** Story Mode Intro - Babylon ******** The Babylon Rouges are minding their own business inside their airship when Dr. Eggman boards the ship and approaches Jet and his gang. He praises the Babylon Rouges for their infamous work and he divulges some info on the treasure of Babylon Garden. Jet is then shown a picture of Dr. Eggman's rival, the speediest hedgehog on planet Earth, Sonic the Hedgehog. Jet is unfamiliar with this "Sonic" character but he is certain that with his Extreme Gear, nothing nor anyone will stop him from finding the treasure of Babylon. Then, the stage is set when they are able to locate Sonic out in the city ready to challenge Jet. ******** Night Chase ******** Mission: Show Sonic what you're made of! (Finish in 1st Place!) Designated Character: Jet Difficulty: 5/10 Analysis: Jet journeys through the city track trying to defeat Sonic to the goal along with using the Turbulence of his teammates to help him press on forwards. Will Sonic lose his first match against Jet or will Jet see for himself why he's pronounced the speediest hedgehog around? Strategies: -At the very start, be sure to get a nice trick combo, for if you release the A Button at the right moment, you'll launch over to a platform that will push you into the lead! -If you miss the platform, be sure to stick to the left of the course, for two rails await you near the start of it; along the first rail, once it evens out and you start heading straight ahead along the rail, a second rail will be visible to the right of you. Be sure to press the A Button to get on to the rail (whilst also holding the Control Stick to your right). -Be sure to dodge the police cars for they will slow you down and Sonic will zoom right passed you! Be sure to head into the left tunnel when the intersection comes or you may find yourself in the midst of many more police cars if you fail to do so. -Once you reach the curve, be sure to perform an Air Slide to get a bit of Speed that will help you tackle the corner. After tackling the corner, though, be sure to Dash along the straightaway to zoom right passed Sonic. -As the big jump approaches, be sure to hold down the A Button and release it at the right moment to go flying overhead, and onto a higher platform that will press you into the lead for sure! ******** Red Canyon ******** Intro Wave barges into a conversation Sonic and the others are having about Dr. Eggman and, unbeknownst to her, the Babylon Rouges. In her mind, to herself, Wave suspects Tails may actually pose as a threat to the Babylon Rouges so she plans to discourage him with harsh words. But, what Wave wasn't counting on was the Amy factor! Race Mission: Defeat Amy! (Come in 1st Place!) Designated Character: Wave Difficulty: 6/10 Analysis: Quite easy, actually. The robots may prove more of a threat than Amy, herself! Be sure to use your Flight-Type skills to your advantage. Since Amy can't utilize the Accelerators, you are at a distinct advantage in this race. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ******** Ice Factory ******** Intro Knuckles has just beaten Storm in a race and he's ticked off! Storm asks Jet to give him another chance and Jet gives him a mission to explore Eggman's Base for anything suspicious as he suspects Eggman be more a foe than a friend. Race Mission: Leave Eggman Robo behind you! Designated Character: Storm Difficulty: 7/10 Analysis: Production of robots has stopped in Eggman's base. Now, the robots are ready to protect the base from intruders. However, with the core of the base now frozen along with the rest of the track, will you be able to maneuver through the frosted track without 'slipping up'? Don't let this happen by coming in 1st Place ahead of Eggman's robots. ******** White Cave ******** Intro Jet has decided to take a little breather in the jungle but his nap is interrupted whne he overhears Sonic practicing for the next competition. Jet decided to have a little fun by ignoring Wave's lecture about responisibility and instead, challenge Sonic to another race. Race Mission: Finish in 1st Place! Designated Character: Jet Difficulty: 9/10 Analysis: This level may have you playing for quite a while, actually. The computers will almost always get the "Spider Web" shortcut which raises the pressure for you to do so as well in order for you to come out on top. Be sure not to get lost in the jungle and use the shortcut of Spider Webs to your advantage. ******** Dark Desert ******** Intro Jet has finally arrived at the scene of the final race of the EX World Grand Prix, but so have Sonic, Tails and Knuckles. Sonic sets the stage by challenging Jet to see if he can win the EX World Grand Prix. Who will win the EX World Grand Prix? Race Mission: Win the World Grand Prix! Designated Character: Jet Difficulty: 8/10 Analysis: You are lonesome and you must face Sonic, Knuckles AND Tails in an attempt to win the final race of the EX World Grand Prix, but, will your Gear measure up to the Gear of the Heroes? Only time will tell... ******** Sky Road ******** Intro Wave and Storm arrive on the scene and they have a small encounter with Knuckles and Tails but as they do, a bunch of robots enter the scene, charging at them. As Wave scolds Knuckles, both teams are off to head for the doors of Babylon before the other whilst also getting ahead of the pursuing robots. Race Mission: Run from Eggman Robo! (Finish in 1st Place!) Designated Character: Wave Difficulty: 10/10 Analysis: Definitely the hardest mission in the game. You will spend quite a while here so don't expect to get it on your first try. You MUST come in 1st place to win which is easier said than done... ******** Babylon Guardian ******** Intro Jet utilizes his Control Box in front of the Babylon Garden doors after snatching it from Sonic who willingly hands it over. As they enter, another set of doors open and as they begin to enter it, the doors begin to close. Team Hero arrives on the scene after hearing the mysterious figure being awakened and they make it inside the doors just in time before they close. However, as they do, the guardian of the Treasure of Babylon makes his entrance - a massive purple genie. Sonic and the others know that they are now in a fight they must win. With all disputes aside, they must unite to defeat the guardian who weilds the Treasure of Babylon. Race Mission: Beat the Guardian! Designated Character: Sonic Difficulty: 6/10 Analysis: The final boss of the game. A genie that holds the treasure of Babylon in his possession. The final battle in which both teams must unite to retrieve the treasure of Babylon from the guardian genie. Strategies: -Continously dash and dodge the Guardian's attacks -Be sure to get rings and do tricks to get Air regularly so you aren't at a disadvantage since there are no Pits in the level -Catch up to and collide into the magic lamp that the genie appear out of to damage one of his three lives. To catch up with him, you must dash into him. Once you do so, the scenary will change for the remaining lap so stay on your toes! -Be sure to grind the rails once the opportunity presents itself when the scenary changes. This can help you gain air, speed, as well as help you to catch up to the guardian again. -After three collisions, he'll be knocked out. -Be sure to ride the Turbulence of your opponents as well as performing tricks whilst riding to build air and speed that will help you catch up with the Guardian Post-Race The genie has now been eliminated and the treasure descends down to the floor in front of both Team Hero and the Babylon Rouges. They eagerly anticipate what they will uncover in the chest but as they are about to enjoy their treasure, Eggman pulls out a couple of guns and points them at everyone. Eggman orders everyone to step away from the treasure but once he sees it, he is in so much shock, he faints and falls to the ground (o-kay...). Tails and the others notice that the material of this legendary carpet is the same that is used in the Extreme Gear they have been utilizing for the EX World Grand Prix. ******** Story Mode Ending ******** Sonic and the others are now all assembled near the Ruins, looking at the sunset over Babylon Garden. Jet states that he will leave Babylon Garden alone and may possibly return someday. However, Jet promises that one day, Sonic will face him again. Sonic states he'll be waiting. (There sure is a long line: Shadow, Metal Sonic from Heroes, Dr. Eggman - as usual - and now Jet?) The two perform one final trick as they cross paths with each other and both teams leave the scene of the Babylon Garden. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 7. Mission Mode Clear given Missions one after another. ******** Missions ******** Storm's Missions Complete the missions in Storm's schedule. The junk includes colors ranging from Green, Yellow, Red, Blue, and Black which all can be used to repair the Gear above. Remember, you will have junk left over after you repair all Gear. My left over junk amounts to: Green x 50 Yellow x 82 Red x 49 Blue x 96 Black x 63 Be sure to collect as much junk as possible so you can repair the above Gear ASAP. ******** Repair Manual Locations ******** In order to repair the Gear, you'll need to discover the Manual telling you how much junk is needed for the repair of each Gear. You will find them in the following Missions in Storm's schedule: #1: Fastest Splash Canyon - Mission 5 Found along the 7th rail you must grind near the waterfall. #2: Turbo Star Green Cave - Mission 5 You can find it floating in the air between Ring 29 and Ring 30. #3: Powerful Gear Babylon Garden - Mission 5 After riding the Jet Fighter, keep grinding the rails after the second rail and you'll notice it along the 3rd, 4th, or 5th rail. #4: Legend SEGA CARNIVAL - Mission 5 You can find it floating in the air between Ring 25 and Ring 26. Be sure to grab them so you can repair the above gear! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 8. Survival Mode Compete under set rules. *** Be advised that when choosing a character, only their Default Gear will be accessible. Remember, you can't use Super Sonic in Any other mode than Normal Race. Race Stage Get the Chaos Emerald and pass through gates while carrying it within a time limit to score. ******** Rules ******** The objective of this mode is to, first of all, reach the one and only Chaos Emerald hidden somewhere along the track - usually near the beginning - and the person in possession of it must carry it through a set number of Gates set up along the track before other opponents do. Be advised that only the central part of the track will be available so shortcuts as well as Type Skills will be disabled in this mode. Be sure to pay attention to the Character Map on your bottom left which shows the relative positions of each character to the Chaos Emerald. The number of gates each character has passed through with the Chaos Emerald appears on the side of the map. Be sure to use this radar to your advantage to avoid being overtaken by other opponents, thus, resulting in loss of possession of the Emerald. This will also occur if opponents successfully attack you! Watch your back! ******** Characters ******** Since Type Skills are disabled in this mode, the character you choose probably will not effect your gameplay. However, keep in mind that since there are no rings on the tracks in this mode, every character will be at Level 2 so everyone's Speed, Limit and Dash will be similar. Also, the maximum amount of Air a Gear can hold is identical for all characters also. Simply put, choose your favourite character! The only potential characters you may need to be aware of are Shadow and Dr. Eggman, since they don't use Boards for their Default Gear. However, they are both still pretty fast. Simply put, choose characters that have good Dash as well as Limit for these skills will help you to catch up to your opponents who may be in possession of the Emerald. Otherwise, choose anyone you feel comfortable with and let the riding begin! ******** Items ******** The items found within Survival Race are as follows: High Speed - Sudden boost in speed. Speed Down - Slows you down to a crawl. Question Item - Contains a mystery Power-Up Item. Explosion - Launches a bomb at players ahead knocking them off balance. Most of the time, for me, Speed Down appears to come more often than not so sometimes it may be best to avoid the Item Boxes altogether especially when you're in possession of the Emerald... ******** Tips ******** Some general tips for this part of the game are as follows: -Remember, shortcuts as well as Type-Skills are disabled so when doing tricks, try to perform Twists more often than Back/Front Flips. -Keep in mind that air decreases in your Air Tank when you are in possession of the Emerald. Use your Air wisely! -All other characters have maximum air and they will never lose it in small increments unlike the person in possession of the Emerald. Dashing can also be done continuously because of this. -If you are trying to catch up with the player in possession of the Emerald, try performing tricks and try to Dash as many times as possible to give yourself an advantage over the character possessing the Chaos Emerald. -Be careful when doing tricks when in possession of the Emerald. Failure to land correctly will result in a loss of air as well as the given opportunity to other opponents to catch up to you. -If you're in possession of the Emerald, remember that you will refill 30 Air for every gate you pass so use your Air wisely! -Try to corner with the best of your ability without using Air Slides as much as possible, when in possession of the Emerald. Simply because this decreases your Air at a much faster rate and opponents can easily overtake you at this time. Battle Stage Fight off your rivals to survive. ******** Rules ******** The objective of this mode is to move around a selected arena, in an attempt to attack your opponents until only one remains. Controls are identical as they are in the other race modes, and each player will start off with three lives, losing one as he/she takes on damage from the attack of an opponent. Be sure, also to look on the map for Power-Ups that appear on-course that will help you to either defeat your enemies quicker or help you dodge them to be the last one standing! ******** Characters ******** Choosing a character may have a minor factor as to how you fare in this mode. It all depends on the character. Follow this advice carefully if you want to be successful in Battle. I will rate the following characters under the following categories: Power - How easily they can deliver their own attack. Cornering - How good they are at cornering. Evasion - How easily they can dodge attacks from opponents. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sonic Power: 5/5 Cornering: 3/5 Evasion: 4/5 Overall: 9/10 Tails Power: 5/5 Cornering: 4/5 Evasion: 4/5 Overall: 8.5/10 Knuckles Power: 4/5 Cornering: 5/5 Evasion: 4/5 Overall: 8/10 Amy Power: 4/5 Cornering: 3/5 Evasion: 3/5 Overall: 7/10 Jet Power: 3/5 Cornering: 3/5 Evasion: 4/5 Overall: 7/10 Storm Power: 3/5 Cornering: 2/5 Evasion: 3/5 Overall: 6.5/10 Wave Power: 4/5 Cornering: 5/5 Evasion: 4/5 Overall: 8/10 Dr. Eggman Power: 4/5 Cornering: 4/5 Evasion: 2/5 Overall: 7.5/10 Cream Power: 2/5 Cornering: 3/5 Evasion: 3/5 Overall: 7/10 Rouge Power: 4/5 Cornering: 4/5 Evasion: 3/5 Overall: 8/10 Shadow Power: 4/5 Cornering: 5/5 Evasion: 4/5 Overall: 9.5/10 Nights Power: 4/5 Cornering: 4/5 Evasion: 4/5 Overall: 8.5/10 Aiai Power: 5/5 Cornering: 4/5 Evasion: 4/5 Overall: 9/10 Ulala Power: 3/5 Cornering: 2/5 Evasion: 3/5 Overall: 7/10 E-10000G Power: 4/5 Cornering: 3/5 Evasion: 3/5 Overall: 7/10 E-10000R Power: 3/5 Cornering: 4/5 Evasion: 3/5 Overall: 7/10 The top 5 BEST characters to use for Battle Mode are: 5. Storm Hopefully, this advice will help you to choose your characters carefully if you hope to win. ******** Items ******** The items found within Survival Race are not the same as the ones you'd find in the other modes with the exception of the Air Item which will refill your Air Tank by 30. However, the rest are as follows: Attack Group: Your attack power will increase, enabling you to inflict more damage upon your opponents. Represented by the colour RED. Attack + 1 - Represented as a Shovel. Increases attack power by 1. Attack + 2 - Represented as a Spear. Increases attack power by 2. Attack + 3 - Represented as a Trident. Increases attack power by 3. Air Pack Group: The maximum Air your Gear can hold will increase, enabling you to acquire more Air and, essentially, be able to travel around the arena more. Represented by the colour YELLOW. Air Pack LVL 1 - Increases your Maximum Air by 10. Air Pack LVL 2 - Increases your Maximum Air by 20. Air Pack LVL 3 - Increases your Maximum Air to full. Guard Group: Your defense power will increase, enabling you to defend against a certain number of attacks made by your opponents. Represented by the colour BLUE. Guard + 1 - Represented as a Bronze Shield. Guards against one attack. Guard + 2 - Represented as a Silver Shield. Guards against two attack. Guard + 3 - Represented as a Gold Shield. Guards against three attacks. Speed Group: Your Speed will increase, enabling you to dodge your opponents as well as enabling you to inflict attacks upon your opponents much to their surprise. Represented by the colour GREEN. Speed LVL 1 - Will increase your Speed by a little. Speed LVL 2 - Will increase your Speed by quite a bit. Speed LVL 3 - Will increase your Speed by a lot. Special Group: Special items that enable you to become a dynamic rider, enabling you to not only inflict more damage upon your opponents, but also to protect against attacks made by your opponents as well as enabling you to acquire a faster speed. Represented by the colour WHITE. Egg - Will hatch a crow after about 20 seconds or so. Gives you Attack Power plus 3, increases your Guard, and increases Speed to LVL 3. ******** Arenas ******** The three levels found within Survival Battle Mode are the following: Dual Towers: Take part in hardcore battling where you launch attacks at each other. Snow Valley: Hide-and-seek battle where you launch attacks on the other players, taking care not to be found by them. Space Theater: Blow-out battle where you bump out your rivals to do damage to them. Let's look at them one at a time, shall we? Dual Towers Fun Factor: 4/5 Difficulty: 3/5 Design: 4/5 Final Rating: 8/10 Okay, there are a few things to remember when battling atop this arena. First of all, the hazard that will be presented to you on this arena is that of crows. At certain points in the battle, giant black crows (hey, this reminds me of Billy Hatcher!) will begin to fly around the level, occasionally, swooping in down onto the level and utilizing their talons to damage opponents. Be sure to avoid them as much as possible as they can really mess you up, enabling opponents to take advantage of you. There are two Air Pits found in the arena that you can use to refill your Air. ------------------------- ( A T T A ) ------------------------- Think of the level like this for now although it is actually flipped sideways. "T" stands for the Two Towers and beside them are the Air Pits represented by "A". Snow Valley Fun Factor: 5/5 Difficulty: 3/5 Design: 5/5 Final Rating: 9/10 Watch out for the Egg Snowmen that will come out after a while, when the battle has gone on for a long time. They will appear in random areas and touching them alone will result in a loss of a life. Also, after a while, the snowmen may also begin to bounce around the level, which can also reduce your life points quickly as well so be careful and watch your surroundings. As for the Air Pits, there is only one, and it is situated at the central glacier platform in the middle of the stage. You can't miss it! On rare occasions, a blue parka will appear somewhere on the stage. If you spot it, QUICKLY grab it. This will make you invisible, not only too opponents, but also to the radar! You can easily take advantage of this Special Item as it lasts for longer than 60 seconds. Space Theater Fun Factor: 5/5 Difficulty: 5/5 Design: 4/5 Final Rating: 9/10 Be ware of flying UFO's that will levitate platforms to reveal gaps which after falling through will make you lose a life. If a UFO crashes down on the stage, also, the surrounding platforms will be lit with a Red Glow temporarily and all the lit platforms will fall off the stage so it's imperative that you watch the movements of the UFO's carefully. The Air Pit is in the very middle of the level. There is NO WAY you could possibly miss seeing it! ******** Tips ******** -All attacks are Level 2 attacks so use that knowledge to your advantage when selecting characters. -You can only acquire two Power-Ups simultaneously. -You will lose all your acquired Power-Ups if you run out of air. -Make use of Braking, Dashing and Air Sliding to home in on your opponents for attacks. -Try using Tornados to harm opponents on your tail. You could also, in effect, damage them twice, if you still have enough air, and by dashing into them. -Never create Tornados when you have the Egg Item. Most likely, all your Air will disappear from your tank. -Try getting an Air Pack power-up, then, the Egg Item to ensure you have enough air but do so quick before someone else gets it. -Try braking to not fall for traps and/or run into dashes inadvertently from other opponents who are around the corner. -Try jumping to avoid dashes from other opponents. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 9. Tag Mode Partner up with another player and share Air as you compete in a race. ******** Rules ******** In a nutshell, the rules are simple. Two characters team up and must share an Air Tank as they try to get to the goal before the other team. Shortcuts and Type Skills are disabled in this mode, as well, if you move to far ahead of your partner, you will be forced to stay back (you get zapped!) as you wait for them to catch up. Be sure to stick close to your partner whilst also trying to attack the other team! ******** Tips ******** -Use each other's Turbulence to dash through the track! -If you stay close to each other for about a second or two (when both character icons are in the middle of the tank), you will gain a bit of air! -Try attacking opponents to recover air. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 10. (2) The rail right after the first. (3) Head into the left tunnel as opposed to the right tunnel and head up the half pipe on your left. With enough air, press A with the correct timing to grind the aloft rail. Power: (1) On-going traffic right after the first Trick Zone. (2) On-going traffic along the course in the right tunnel (as opposed to the one on the left). (3) The large truck obscuring a secret path. (4) More traffic along the path following the large truck. (5) Cars along the right and left sides of the path following the on-going traffic after the truck. Flight: (1) A runway is situated along the small straightaway after the first right curve after the first Trick Zone. 3 Accelerators are aloft following it. (2) Head up the half pipe to your right after the tunnel on the right (as opposed to the tunnel on the left) and with enough speed, you'll dash right into an Accelerator which will lead you to two more following that. Formation Advantage: Flight/Power Trick Zones: (1) Right after the starting line. If you do a Front Flip, you'll be able to reach a higher road. (2) Right at the edge of the path leading from the path following the Flight Runway and the two upcoming tunnels. (3) The half-pipe on the left-hand side after the tunnel on the left. (4) The half-pipe on the right-hand side after the tunnel on the right. (5) The second-to-last ramp before the Automatic Trail. This leads back to the central part of the city. Perform a Back Flip and you will be able to reach the final Trick Zone. (6) The very last Trick Zone. Use a Back Flip from the preceding Trick Zone to reach it. Air Pits: (1) On the left-hand side right before the first Trick Zone (after the starting line). (2) Right at the ledge that leads to a drop whereby there is oncoming traffic. 100-Ring Capsule: - Reach the higher road from the first Trick Zone and jump with correct timing onto the first orange sign which will propel you right into the 100-Ring Capsule. ******** Night Chase ******** Descriptor: Run through express ways at night. Overview: Babylon's first stage. Join in the race of the EX World Grand Prix in Future City except at night where police cars are patrolling the area. Be sure to watch where you're riding. Speed: (1) Rail found along the far-left path after the first Trick Zone. (2) Rail to the right of the first rail (near the end of the first rail). You must jump off the first rail, hold Right on the Control Stick and press A again to reach it. (3) Head into the right tunnel as opposed to the left tunnel and head towards the large truck. If you hold A and release as soon as you reach the edge of the ramp leading inside the truck, you'll jump right over the truck and you'll be able to grind on an aloft rail. (4) The rail right after the above one. Power: (1) Energy...things along the far-right path after the first Trick Zone. (2) On-going traffic of Police Cars right after the first curve after the first Trick Zone. (3) More traffic of Police Cars leading into the left tunnel. (4) More traffic of Police Cars leading into the left tunnel. (5) On-going traffic in the middle of the path a few meters after the two tunnels. (6) A large truck along the right after the right tunnel. (7) On-going traffic in the middle of the path a few meters after the large truck. Flight: (1) A runway in the middle of the path right after the first Trick Zone. Honestly, though, it is very hard to reach because of the pipes. It's not even a worthwhile shortcut anyhow. (2) Head up the half pipe to your right after the tunnel on the right (as opposed to the tunnel on the left) and with enough speed, you'll dash right into an Accelerator which will lead you to two more following that. Formation Advantage: Power Trick Zones: (1) Right after the starting line. I think that if you do either a Back Flip OR a Front Flip you'll make it, however, timing is quite crucial for this shortcut. You could miss it by a small margin. (2) The half-pipe on the left-hand side after the tunnel on the left. (3) The half-pipe on the right-hand side after the tunnel on the right. (4) The second-to-last ramp before the Automatic Trail. This leads back to the central part of the city. Perform a Back Flip and you will be able to reach the final Trick Zone. (5) The very last Trick Zone. Use a Back Flip from the preceding Trick Zone to reach it. Air Pits: (1) Along the far-left path after the first Trick Zone. (2) Along the path where the patrolling Police Cars exit from. There is one on each side. 100-Ring Capsule: - Unknown ******** Splash Canyon ******** Descriptor: Dash through the waterfalls and valleys. Overview: A beautiful waterfall canyon with tons of shortcuts. Speed: (1) Rail to the right of the first ledge where you should jump. Power: Flight: Formation Advantage: Flight Trick Zones: (1) Air Pits: 100-Ring Capsule: - Behind a flow of water. It's straight ahead on the right after the First ledge after the starting line. You'll have to wait a second to Get it. If you turn around, you can see it clearly. - It's better to NOT go for the 100-ring capsule. Instead, head up the Path above the ledge after the starting line. There are two item boxes that contain two 20-ring and/or 30-ring rewards. You can level up much faster this way than going for the 100-Ring Capsule. ******** Red Canyon ******** Descriptor: Dash through the valley at sundown. Overview: Speed: Power: Flight: Formation Advantage: Flight/Speed Trick Zones: Air Pits: 100-Ring Capsule: ******** Egg Factory ******** Descriptor: Tear through the burning blast furnace. Overview: Dr. Eggman's secret factory of molten lava. (Now that I've played it, it kinda reminds me of Lava Shelter from Shadow the Hedgehog.) Watch out for his guard robots who monitor the areas. Speed: Power: Flight: Formation Advantage: Power Trick Zones: Air Pits: 100-Ring Capsule: ******** Ice Factory ******** Descriptor: Rush through the frozen factory. Overview: Dr. Eggman's secret factory covered by ice and freezing temperatures. Again, guard robots are on patrol so watch out for them. Speed: Power: Flight: Formation Advantage: Power/Speed Trick Zones: Air Pits: 100-Ring Capsule: ******** Green Cave ******** Descriptor: Bowl through the jungle. Overview: A large jungle with centipedes and many winding paths. Careful not to lose your way. Speed: Power: Flight: Formation Advantage: Flight Trick Zones: Air Pits: 100-Ring Capsule: ******** White Cave ******** Descriptor: Dash through the snow of spores. Overview: Speed: Power: Flight: Formation Advantage: Flight/Power Trick Zones: Air Pits: 100-Ring Capsule: ******** Sand Ruins ******** Descriptor: Tear through the ruins in the desert. Overview: Speed: Power: Flight: Formation Advantage: Flight Trick Zones: Air Pits: 100-Ring Capsule: ******** Dark Desert ******** Descriptor: Run through the desert during a solar eclipse. Overview: Speed: Power: Flight: Formation Advantage: Speed/Power Trick Zones: Air Pits: 100-Ring Capsule: ******** Babylon Garden ******** Descriptor: Run across the floating fortress floating in the air. Overview: The legendary Babylon Garden was believed only to be a myth. Guide yourself through this fast-paced level, making sure to use good use of Type-Skills whilst jet fighters are ready to protect the Garden from intruders. Explosions on the track will also occur so watch out. Be sure to get a lot of speed during the Giant Turbulence area that comes from the jet fighter. Speed: Power: Flight: Formation Advantage: Trick Zones: Air Pits: 100-Ring Capsule: ******** Sky Road ******** Descriptor: Dash through the area where combat fighters zoom overhead. Overview: Speed: Power: Flight: Formation Advantage: Trick Zones: Air Pits: 100-Ring Capsule: ******** Digital Dimension ******** Descriptor: Race through the phantasmal space. Overview: Speed: Power: Flight: Formation Advantage: Speed/Power/Flight Trick Zones: Air Pits: 100-Ring Capsule: ******** Babylon Guardian ******** Descriptor: Fight against the guardian god of Babylon. Overview: The final boss of the game and my least favourite stage. The layout is pretty simple and all you have to do is eliminate the boss by attacking him once every lap (if you set it to one lap, then he'll only have one health; set it to more and he'll still have only 3 but you must still roam around the track). Speed: (1) Rail right before the final corner leading to the finish line. Power: (1) Some statues/rocks (depending on which dimension you're in) that lie along the right and left side of the path right before the final corner leading to the finish line. Flight: (1) Perform a Back flip to the right of the first ramp to land into the airborne Accelerator and soar through 3 airborne Accelerators that will lead you away from and then back down to the main path Formation Advantage: Speed/Power/Flight Trick Zones: (1) The first of two ramps. Right after the first corner. (2) The second ramp in the stage. Right before the finish line. Perform sideways tricks to land down to the drop sooner. Air Pits: Along the sides of the track - they're hard to miss since the stage is fairly linear. 100-Ring Capsule: - None; there are no rings period in this stage ******** SEGA Carnival ******** Descriptor: Carnival course with a SEGA theme. Overview: The best course ever! A fair that plays homage to such games as Samba de Amigo, Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg (complete with cameos from the Captain from Pirate Ocean, Chick, and Billy Hatcher himself), Super Monkey Ball, and to top it all off, a Crazy Taxi section, complete with a taxi with Axel himself serving as a cameo. Speed: (1) Right at the start, jump off the ledge and perform a Front flip or two and land yourself atop the rail. There is a gap as it reaches where the path is so you must jump again to reach the 2nd rail. (2) After heading inside the captain's ship, head to the left where there is a side rail and use it to gain air to reach a rail that will lead you outside of the pirate ship. Power: (1) Two special doors in the Samba de Amigo section can be knocked Down. (2) There is a door inside the captain's ship from Billy Hatcher that can also be knocked down. Barrels appear behind it to add links. (3) More barrels appear in the Monkey Ball section on the platforms. (4) Crates that can be found in the area right after the taxi section can be broken and can grant you up to 12 links. Flight: (1) After heading inside the captain's ship, head to the left where there is a side rail and use it to gain air to reach an Accelerator that will lead you to the top of the pirate ship. (2) The ledge right before the Monkey Ball area begins, perform a Front flip to reach the Accelerator in the air. Formation Advantage: Power Trick Zones: (1) You can perform tricks on the ledge shortly after the start line. (3) Head on top of the Pirate Ship by way of using someone's turbulence along the curve in the Samba de Amigo section to reach a secret trick area that also has the Air Refill capsule. (4) A large gap between the Samba de Amigo section and the Billy Hatcher area. Use a Front flip to get to the top of the Pirate Ship which is much quicker than the bottom route. (5) The ledge right before the Monkey Ball area begins. (6) At the end of each suspended platform, there's a ledge for you to perform tricks. (7) The net at the bottom can be used to perform tricks once you reach the height of it. (8) The ledge right before the drop leading to the road where the Crazy Taxi area continues. (9) A ramp that can lead you to a higher route (with a Backflip) or the lower route. Head up the higher route if you can. Air Pits: ??? 100-Ring Capsule: - Unknown - Passing the gates in the Monkey Ball section earns you rings. You'll earn 30 on the last lap and 20 on the other two. ******** SEGA Illusion ******** Descriptor: Illusion course with a SEGA theme. Overview: An amazing course that acts like a fair, showing off such characters as Opa Opa, as well as environments from NiGHTS Into Dreams, Space Channel 5 and even a special homage to ChuChu Rocket at the end. Speed: Power: Flight: Formation Advantage: Flight/Speed Trick Zones: Air Pits: 100-Ring Capsule: - Along the gold panel to the left in the ChuChu Rocket section. You'll need to jump over two panels to get it. - Not to be confused with the gold panel straight ahead which leads to an Air Refill capsule. I hope these strategies will help you be victorious! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 15. Quotes Sonic the Hedgehog Introduction - "Alright! Bring it on!" Position Increase - "See ya!" A: As of March 9th 2006, I have unlocked all characters, and all Gear, as well as all stages. So, I guess you could say, yeah, I'm totally done! And I was really obsessed with getting the game: bought it on the 22nd when it came out here in Canada. Q: How many hours of (pure) playtime have you racked up? A: Nearly 300 hours. Q: How is Super Sonic? A: Personally, I find that he can be both good and bad. I tend to not use him that much, though. As for advantages, he has the best Dash and Limit, as well, he is invulnerable to opponents' attacks. As for disadvantages, one boost requires 20 Rings, if he loses all his rings; he resorts back to Sonic and you must run until you get a ring; performing tricks does not recover any rings nor does rotating the control stick on Automatic Trails. Overall, though, he's pretty good. But, it would have been better if HE could be unlocked after 50 hours of play time as opposed to E-10000R! Another thing, Super Sonic is a master at the Babylon Guardian stage. Use this knowledge to your advantage. Q: How would you rate yourself in terms of skill? A: Well, from skill levels from Beginner, to Intermediate, to Advanced, to Expert, to Master; I'd probably rate myself either Expert or Master. But that's just me. Q: Is it true a Sonic Riders 2 is being developed as of this moment? A: It certainly is NOT a rumor; this is official - Sonic Riders 2 is coming out; as for if it is being developed RIGHT NOW, I am uncertain. The game will, apparently, appear on next-gen consoles. Edit: May 2007 revisit: I'm confident that this or next year, we'll hear something. I REALLY hope they put it on the Wii. Q: I don't recognize some of the games from the SEGA Carnival. What are each of the cameos? A: The following are the cameos/games that are part of the Carnival, in order that you see them in the level: -Samba de Amigo (Dreamcast, 2000) -Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg (Gamecube, 2003) -NiGHTS Into Dreams (Saturn, 1996) -Super Monkey Ball (Gamecube, 2001) -Crazy Taxi (Dreamcast, 2000) -Space Channel 5 (Dreamcast, 2000) -ChuChu Rocket (Dreamcast, 1999) Q: Would you consider this the best Sonic game made? A: What's with all the personal questions? Anyway, I feel it is the best GAMECUBE Sonic game, but as for the best Sonic game ever made, it comes close but to me, another Sonic game precedes it. Q: Which is better? Sonic and the Secret Rings or Sonic Riders? A: Riders, no doubt about that. Q: Which gear is the biggest waste of rings? A: Definitely, the Hovercraft! Q: What is your favourite Character/Gear combination? A: I use High Booster a lot now for aiming for good records but I like to challenge myself and see how good I can be with only the Default gear. Q: Can you play Story Mode again after completing it? A: Yes, you can play it as many times as you like. Q: Are there Japanese voiceovers in the game? A: Well, the credits state positions of "Japanese Voicing", so I am assuming there is. I have heard, though, that only the Xbox and PS2 Versions acquire this feature, but I am not aware if this is confirmed or not so don't quote me on this. Q: Hey! Is it true about what Gamer.TV said about that.... A: No! It is not true! This was a lie in order to raise false hopes. I'm sorry you succumbed to this. Q: What's your favourite stage? A: SEGA Carnival no doubt! It's like a Green Hill stage, that's how much I like it. But, recently, I unlocked the Green Hill re-make in Sa2B and I really like that stage as well (in comparison, I like the Carnival better). Other favorites are Egg/Ice Factory as well as Splash/Red Canyon, Sky Road and SEGA Illusion. Q: Which stage has the catchiest music? A: Splash Canyon and Metal City. I slowly enjoyed the Digital Dimension theme as well but only when I'm not playing the game. I can't stand that stage for some reason... SEGA Carnival's music is good too. Q: What is your favourite mode? A: I really like Survival Mode. I certainly like Battle more than Race, though, but on its own, Race is pretty good. Q: What is your least favourite mode? A: I'd have to say Tag Mode, and the worst part is, I think it's quite fun! It's so hard to choose between all of them I guess. Q: Who are the secret SEGA characters? A: Ulala, NiGHTS, and Aiai. Q: Who is your favorite character? A: I guess: - Speed: Shadow - Power: Aiai - Flight: Tails - Style: Knuckles (:P) - Overall: Aiai Q: Is there a point to the game after you complete it? A: Yes, there is. Face your friends to determine who's the best rider, and you can also try to acquire a bit of bragging rights in Time Attack, Free Race, and World Grand Prix. Also, Survival Mode is quite fun IMO, contrary to the popular belief that it is "boring". Head on over to The Sonic Center and compete for World Records. That will add LOADS of replay value to your game, I'm sure. (www.soniccenter.org) Q: Are there really allusions to past Sonic games in this game as one interview with the producer stated, with the exception of SEGA Carnival? A: Well, the Carnival pretty much has the MAIN allusions and cameo appearances but there are other things. For instance: "Some things never change, huh?" --Jet This could allude back to Sonic Heroes when Shadow said similar words to Rouge and the end of the Team Dark story. The song "Eggman Again!" has beats that sound like they were remixed from the Robot Carnival/Storm theme from Sonic Heroes. It has been said that the design on the side of the High Booster Gear alludes to the logo for (the) Shadow the Hedgehog (game). "Do you think you can beat me?" --Eggman "Ha ha ha! How's that?" --Eggman These are both two quotes that refer back to SA2:B where Dr. Eggman, in 2P Battle Mode, uttered these words both at the end and the start of a 'Shooting Battle' game. "Hey! Ladies first!" --Rouge This quote was uttered by Rouge in Sonic Heroes when participating in the 'Bobsled Race' game. Other than those few things and the Carnival, the game has no other allusions to past games and/or characters. So, enjoy the Carnival for it's a great inclusion in the game! Q: Can you work on a guide with me? A: Sure, I'd love to, just email me and let me know the specifics. It just depends on the game, that's all. Q: Can I work on this guide with you? Pretty please!!! A: Well, you can certainly contribute comments to my guide to help me improve it but I'd like to keep this as an individual project. Sorry, but thanks in advance. Q: Can you help me with Mission ____ in _______ Missions? I'm having trouble! A: I am trying my best to update the Mission Mode section but I've chosen to leave it for last as it'll take up most of my time on this guide. But, if you need urgent help, email me and I'll try my best to help you as many have done. Q: How can I show my appreciation/hate for your guide? A: Simply by rating it here on GameFAQS so I can know if I'm doing a good job on this guide. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 17.
