Those of you familiar with the original TimeSplitters will be familiar with them all, but each mode has been expanded massively in this version. Here is what you can do in each of them. STORY MODE ---------- This mode has improved greatly upon the often-criticised Story levels of TS1. Story mode is a mission based mode for single-player, or two-players playing co-operatively. Upon selecting Story mode for the first time, you are treated to a lovely cut- scene. Our heroes, Sgt. Cortez and Corp. Hart are aboard a space station. All of a sudden, the station is stormed by a group of mysterious (and really ugly) creatures. These "TimeSplitters", as they are known, pinch ten Time Crystals from your station and disappear into a time portal that whisks them off into the vast realms of time. You assume the role of Cortez, and your mission, which you have no choice but to accept, is to retrieve the Time Crystals by following the TimeSplitters into the various eras of history they occupy. You will assume the appearance of various characters from each time period, rather like Quantum Leap, but instead of making witty banter you have to shoot people in the head. So it's not much like Quantum Leap at all really. Ah, well :) There are 10 different time eras (levels) in Story mode: - 1990 Siberia - 1932 Chicago - 1895 Notre Dame - 2280 Return to Planet X - 2019 NeoTokyo - 1853 Wild West - 1972 Atom Smasher - 1920 Aztec Ruins - 2315 Robot Factory - 2401 Space Station (the one in which our story began) From the off, you are only able to play the 1990 Siberia level. On completion of this level, 1932 Chicago becomes available for play, and beating each subsequent level unlocks the next level in the list. Each mission contains a number of fixed objectives. Some of these are known from the start, others are appended as you progress through the level. Your objectives can be viewed by pausing the game and scrolling across to them by pressing left and right. There are three difficulty levels in story mode: - Easy - Medium - Hard You can only play the higher difficult settings for each level by completing all previous levels at that difficulty or higher, e.g to play 2401 Space Station on hard, you need to complete all the previous levels on hard difficulty. Each difficulty setting has slightly different objectives, and the positioning of items may differ also. As the difficulty increases, the number of enemies you will encounter will increase, and their intellegence will be heightened. Guards will respond more cleverly to your actions, and are more easily alerted by your presence or gunfire. Enemies also spend less time aiming on harder difficulty settings, so you need to react more quickly. Beating story mode unlocks a number of new characters and cheats. See chapter 8 for more information. For walkthroughs for each level, see chapter 3. ARCADE ------ Arcade mode is split into 3 sections: - Arcade League, a collection of 45 deathmatch challenges for solo play. Beating various leagues unlocks lots of cool new characters, arenas and new play modes for multiplayer deathmatches. See chapter 4 for a guide to each of the various deathmatches. - Arcade Custom, a multiplayer mode that allows you to play at a variety of different paces (Chilled, Normal or Frantic). This mode is what separates TS2 from the other FPS games out there. Got friends, you'll spend hours playing this. See chapter 5 for an explanation of the various match modes. - Network play, allowing you to connect up to 4 PS2s together via i-Link. Play with up to 16 players on four PS2s = F*U*N! CHALLENGE --------- This mode contains 21 challenges in seven categories for one player. Some of these are very, _very_ hard, so we advise you leave these until you have mastered the basic skills before attempting them. MAPMAKER -------- And finally, my favourite section of TS2. Using this brilliant tool you can create your own deathmatch arenas and, for advanced users, create "Story" levels using the new "Game Logic" system. It's by far the most flexible level designer on PS2 and is well worth the time and effort (and vast amount of Memory Card space) required. (R2) button - Primary Fire -------------------------- Fires your weapon's primary function. (R1) button - Secondary Fire ---------------------------- If your weapon has a secondary fire function, then it is performed, otherwise you will perform the weapon's primary function. (L2) button - Aim ----------------- Hold (L2) to activate "aim mode", use the right analog stick to aim. If your weapon has a scope (eg. Sniper Rifle, Machinegun), then you can use the UP/DOWN direction on the d-pad to zoom in and out (L1) button - Duck ------------------ Toggles crouch on or off. Useful to hide behind low objects, but your movement is somewhat restricted. (^) button - Reload ------------------- Self-explanatory. Make like the SAS and "Be Prepared" by reloading often so you're not caught short. (X) button - Action ------------------- Press (X) to interact with certain objects, eg opening doors, pulling switches. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* 02.c In-Game Display *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* The in-game display tells you how well you are performing and what condition your character is in. Also, in Arcade and some Challenges, a radar is used to tell you the location and proximity of various enemies within the arena you are playing in. Here is a break-down of what each item on the HUD tells you about: - Rank - Your ranking in the deathmatch you are playing in. Only displayed in Arcade mode, in the upper left corner. - Health Gauge - This is a red/orange crescent on the left hand side of the screen. Indicates how close your character is to death. As logic suggests, a full gauge means you are in peak condition, while a nearly-empty bar means that only a few more shots are needed to finish you off. The gauge can be refilled by picking up health power-ups (crates with a red cross on them). - Armor Gauge - This is a bluey-green crescent on the right hand side of the screen. Armor acts as a sacrificial shielding that is expended instead of your health gauge. Like the health gauge, armor is replenished by collecting armor pick-ups (hovering breast-plates). When you run out of armor, your health gauge starts to deplete, which is what we experts call "a bad thing". - Primary Ammo - The number in the very bottom-right of the screen. This number represents the amount of ammo left for your primary (R2) fire. - Secondary Ammo - The number just above it. This is the amount of secondary (R1) ammo left for your current weapon. - Kills - This appears for a short period after you kill another competitor. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* 02.d Preferences *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* This mode allows you to tweak the game engine to suit your prefered style of play. Basically, everything other than how to control your character can be changed here. Here is what each setting means, and what changes can be made: Weapon Change - This determines how the game handles new weapon pick-ups. The choices you have are: - "If New & Best" - Changes to picked-up weapon IF the weapon is new to your collection AND it is better than any of your current weapons. - "If New" - If the picked-up weapon is not already in your collection, then it becomes your selected weapon. - "If Best" - If the picked-up weapon is the most powerful in your collection then the weapon become automatically selected. Default is "If New & Best". Auto-Aim - - "On" or "Off", toggles whether the A.I. assists your shot aim. Default is "On". Inverse Look - "On" or "Off". Determines how the camera is manipulated by the right analog stick. When "On", nudging the stick UP makes the camera pan DOWNWARDS and vice-versa. Default is "Off". Auto Lookhead - Again, can be set "On" or "Off". When "On", the camera automatically looks straight ahead after you begin moving again. When "Off" the camera is completely controlled by you, Half Life-style. Default is "On". Aim Mode - Choose either "Hold" or "Toggle". When in "Hold" mode, you must continue to hold (L2) to stay in aim mode. If set to "Toggle", tapping (L2) puts you in aim mode, and a further tap turns aim mode off. Default is "Hold". Crouch Mode - As above, choose from "Hold" or "Toggle". Same principle as Aim Mode settings. Default is "Hold". Vibration - Choose "On" to damage your wrists. Choose "Off" for an altogether less shaky experience. Default is "On" Vibration Mode - Choose from "Fire", "Hit" and "Fire & Hit". Pretty self- explanatory really. This reloads your current weapon and keeps you prepared for your next encounter. There is nothing worse than being short of ammo in a gunfight. Aim For the Head ================ TimeSplitters 2 uses a simple system when it comes to shot damage. Shoot someone in the head and they die, shoot their arms and legs and they can't run as quickly. Body shots are least effective. Where possible, aim for your enemies' heads to save ammo and to kill instantly. Keep Your Distance ================== Enemies are deadly from close range. Their shots are much more accurate and bullets do more damage. If your aim is good enough, or you have a scope weapon, then you should be able to score head-shots before the enemy even sees you. Restart When Things Go Pear-Shaped ================================== Confucious, he say, "it is easier to play the level from your last checkpoint than to play on with little health", and he was a bloody clever bloke, so you'd be wise to follow this sound advice. Blow Stuff Up ============= Not only does it look great, there are some very sound tactical reasons for doing so. Anything remotely fragile, such as pottery, computer moniters etc. can be shot and subsequently blown up in an impressive manner. Use this to distract your foes, or to catch them with the shrapnel if you so choose. Play Through All The Difficulty Settings ======================================== Unlike many other games, the Easy, Normal and Hard Story missions all have differing tasks to perform, and the difficulty curve is such that if you complete the game through all ten levels on Easy, and then on Normal and Hard, you will be getting the most value for money. And also, I'll get fewer emails from you cause you'll be better prepared for the harder levels. Now, the walkthroughs for each level... *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* 03.b 1990 Siberia *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* 1990, SIBERIA - Oblask Dam -------------------------- A secret research facility under a Siberian dam has unearthed preserved organic specimens which are over ten thousand years old. Following a number of mysterious accidents, the original scientific team has left the site and a Russian military garrison has been assigned to the excavation project. Intelligence has revealed that the military's attempts to develop biological weaponry from the finds have had dreadful results. They must not be allowed to continue this research. Although Biohazard cleanup forces are on their way, there is an opportunity to investigate the base and destroy the samples and research records before they arrive. The base is currently under lockdown - the perimeter guards are jumpy and the automated security system has bee engaged. Avoid the cameras, if necessary they can be switched off or destroyed. Equip the Sniper Rifle and press (L2) to look through the scope. There are three white buildings in front of you. Zoom in on the building on the left (the two- storey one with the huge comms dish on the roof). Zoom in as far as you can and shoot the guard standing on the balcony, preferably in the head. Between buildings D and E comes strolling a beret-wearing (and desperately unlucky) sentry. Bust a cap in the fools head for being so lapse in his guarding. Strafe left so you can see clearly through the gap between buildings C and D. Soon enough, a female trooper (who obviously needs some make-up advice) should appear. Shoot her in the... guess where? Go on, I bet you have an idea! Ew... don't be so FILTHY all the time !! ,- NORMAL/HARD ----------, | ==================== \_________________________________________________ | | | Another guard is patrolling the left-hand side of building C. Either | | stay where you are and shoot in the head when he appears - requiring you | | be rather clever and aim between the steps - or adopt a more gung-ho | | approach and blast him from point blank range. | |___________________________________________________________________________| Unless you are playing on Easy, there is another security camera in the middle of this area, on the south face of one of the buildings. If you are spotted, you have a half-second grace period before an alert is sounded. Should this happen, all surviving guards plus an additional guard will arrive and hunt you down. Your safest bet is to pull out your sniper rifle and blast the camera's lens, thus avoiding any such occurrance. Ascend the steps that are found on the left wall of building C and walk through the door (press (X) to open it) that you find at the top of it. At the far end of this room there is a window with a control panel underneath it. Hit (X) to open the security door (denoted "####" in the map). You do not need to walk through this just yet, but now it's open you will save some time later. ,- NORMAL/HARD ----------, | ==================== \_________________________________________________ | | | When you open the blast door, a sniper appears in a window at the top of | | the dam. The best way to deal with him is to walk out of the door you | | just came through, then use your sniper scope to zoom in on the far wall | | of the dam and pick him off with a single bullet. For some reason, he is | | unable to hit you while you are standing in this position. | |___________________________________________________________________________| Next, you need to get onto the roof of building E. Luckily for you, some wooden boards have been conveniently laid between the roofs, providing a make -shift bridge for you to cross. Run across with no thought of how such a thin sheet of wood can support your weight and drop through the hole in the ceiling of building E. It must be pretty darn hot inside this building, as all of the snow that fell through the self-same hole that you did has melted without a trace. Of course, this is ABSOLUTELY NOT a glitch in the game's graphic's engine!! Free Radical would NEVER make a mistake like that, how dare you suggest such a thing?! Pick up the crate of TIMED MINES on the shelves behind you, then turn around and open the door (which could only be opened from the inside, hence our elaborate entrance. Once you are outside of the building, turn left and run forwards until you reach building B, which is directly in front of you. If you are playing on Normal or Hard mode, there is a guard inside this room, who is obviously a bit of a keen geologist, staring fixatedly at the cliff-face in front of him. Either that, or those crazy Ruskies put him on "Granite Inspection Duty" again! Opening the door will alert him to your presence, so pull out your Silenced Pistol and shoot him through the glass pane in the door, all stealthy-like. Once the coast is clear, slide the door open to reveal the sparsely decorated sleeping quarters of a bureaucrat (who else would have a bloody FILING CABINET in their bedroom, eh?!). Walk up to the filing cabinet and press (X) to open one of the drawers, then equip the Timed Mines and press (R2) to place one of them into the cabinet. Quickly dash out of the hut to avoid the blast and take great satisfaction from doing some filing, Enron style! By now you're probably feeling a little cold, so you'll be pleased to hear there are only two things left to do before you can head into the warm, cosy and ever-so-friendly Soviet dam structure. Make your way South again and enter building D, whose door in on it's West wall. Open the filing cabinet in here and deposit another mine in it to destroy a second set of "top-secret" documents. After that bit of fraud, make your way back up the steps to the second storey of building C, on the roof of which is a gigantic communications dish. Stand back, equip your timed mines again and hurl one at the dish, then run for cover again. Rupert Murdock won't be happy at all! After you have explosively (and expensively) dealt with the comms dish, head back down the stairs and enter through the blast door that you opened earlier. As you enter the first corridor, you will notice an elevator straight ahead. If you attempt to press the "Call Lift" button, you get a stern message saying "There is no power". If you're playing on Normal/Hard, this will trigger a new objective, but we'll deal with that later on. Either way, it looks like you're going to have to take the stairs. Ah well, at least it'll get rid of the love -handles! Dash up the first two flights of stairs, then crouch beneath the jet of steam from the damaged pipe above you, to avoid getting burned and wasting precious health points. At the top of the next set of stairs is a crate, which we will leave alone for now. Slowly walk up the next flight to level 2, where you will see guard decked out in a Metal Gear Solid style white uniform. Provided you walked slowly and quietly, he will not notice you, so you can have a free shot at him with your Silenced Pistol. Naturally, you'll put that free shot into his head, and he won't get a chance to retaliate. ,- NORMAL/HARD ----------, | ==================== \_________________________________________________ | | | At the top of the next flight of stairs is a surveillance camera, which | | is positioned in such a way that it is really hard to shoot. You'll need | | to equip your sniper rifle, then side-step swiftly up the last couple of | | stairs and shoot the camera lens in a split second. It is vital that you | | do not blow your cover at this stage, as it will make progression MUCH | | more difficult later on! It takes a lot of skill to do it, but it's | | really that you get it right first time. | |___________________________________________________________________________| At the top of the next two sets of stairs is another guard, who has his back to you. Punish his negligence with a dishonourable piece of lead in the back of his sorry head to proceed undisturbed. Keep climbing up the stairs (feel the BURN!) until you reach the top of the dam (level 5). Provided you didn't call any attention to yourself, there won't be any guards patrolling these last flights of stairs. As you come to the end of the corridor, you will see a blue door in front of you. Creep over to the door and look through the window to see a sentry guarding an opening on the left. Carefully aim through the glass panel in the door and blast him in the side of the head. Depending on the position of the other guards in this area, the dying gasp of the guard you just dispatched might arouse suspicion, so wait out of sight for 10 seconds or so until the coast is clear again. Open the door you just shot through, and stay to the left of the corridor until you reach the opening the soldier was previously guarding. Walk into this opening and follow the corridor to the right until you reach an area with a large pipe and a pressure gauge on your left. Turn to face the large tap-wheel and press (X) to spin the wheel and release the pressure valve. A sexy Russian lady will announce that the steam pressure has fallen, and the needle will fall into the yellow segment of the pressure gauge. Turn around and grab the BODY ARMOUR, SOVIET S47 and AMMO from the shelves. If you're playing on Normal, there is no body armour, while the people playing Hard mode will have to make do without the extra ammo as well. Hey, who said life was fair?! Now that you're all tooled up, walk back down the passage and into the main hallway. Equip your Sniper Rifle and zoom in slightly with the d-pad, then slowly side-step to the right until you can see the female guard lurking behind the concrete structure jutting out to the left. With her taken care off, set you sights on the balaclava-wearing guard standing at the far end of this corridor. Blast him from afar, to secure the area. Walk ahead without fear and head for the next doorway on the left. Notice that above this door is a loudspeaker, which is where that lady annoucer's voice rang from. If you shoot the speaker now, her voice will be replaced with accoustic feedback when you tweak the other pressure valves. This doesn't really affect your mission progress, I just think it speaks volumes about Free Radical's attention to detail! Enter the passageway under them and turn the second valve to reduce the steam pressure to 33%. Do the same thing in the third and final passage a few yards further down and you will clear the doorway ahead, which was previously blocked off with the steam you just got rid of. ,- NORMAL/HARD ----------, | ==================== \_________________________________________________ | | | There is a Soviet S47-toting guarding in the second passageway. | |___________________________________________________________________________| Make your way through the now-accessible door and make your way down the stairs straight in front of you. At the bottom of the second flight of stairs is another hapless Russian grunt, who will spot you and open fire. Stay calm and collected, and bust a cap in his head to get rid of the bothersome fellow, before making your way down the next set of stairs. Descend a further two flights of stairs to find a rack of shelves containing a crate of SNIPER AMMO and some BODY ARMOUR (if you're playing on Easy mode), which you shouldn't need at the moment. Two more stair-sets and you'll meet another pretty young lady, who is not exactly pleased to see you. Shoot her in the noggin before she starts to make a fuss about your presence and alerts more guards. The final few flights of stairs should be innocuous enough, so make your way down them and keep going until you reach a dead end. Turn to the right and push the button on the wall to open the blast door and walk through it. Et voila, we are back in the harsh Siberian climate we were all missing so terribly! ,- NORMAL/HARD ----------, | ==================== \_________________________________________________ | | | There is a surveillance camera above you and to the right as you exit | | the dam. Take a step back to avoid its field of vision, then use your | | Silenced Pistol to give it a "Serious Malfunction". | | | | There is also a sniper in the exact opposite position that you saw one | | in when you were on the other end of the dam. Pick him off with | | precision before he gets the chance to do you any lasting damage. | |___________________________________________________________________________| Crouch down and sidestep up the handful of steps leading up to the side of a long, blue building. Equip your Sniper Rifle and draw a bead on the guard standing by the far corner of the building. Re-equip your Silenced Pistol and dash over to where you downed you victim. Another guard should come dashing over to investigate, so do the decent thing before he gets the chance to fire a shot at you. Keep walking along the perimeter of the building until you reach the end of the long wall on your left. As you reach the corner, turn to your right and gingerly sidestep out to see a surveillance camera directly ahead. Pull out your Sniper Rifle once again and give Big Brother a two-fingered salute! Keep walking around the outside of the building and enter the first blue door you come across. Your Temporal Uplink will inform you that the Time Crystal has been located, meaning that you guys playing on Easy mode are almost finished. Now, I know you've all been waiting for this, so go ahead and equip your Soviet S47 assault rifle. Sidestep out from the corner and you will notice a guard to your left. Spray the foolio with a rew semi-automatic rounds to down, him, then rummage around on the shelves nearby until you find the ANACONDA CART. Also, if you're anything like me, you'll want to take some anger out, so blast the watermelons for some mild amusement and watch them explode. If you want, equip the Temporal Uplink and press reload to play your newly -found game cartridge, which is a primitive but oh-so-fun experience. Make your way down the staircase at the far side of the room, then follow the path as it curves round to the right. ,- NORMAL/HARD ----------, | ==================== \_________________________________________________ | | | You will notice a pair of gun-metal grey doors to your left, which leads | | to a shower-room. Memorise this location, as this is your only salvation | | should you catch fire later on. | |___________________________________________________________________________| As you make reach the end of this path, you'll hear a voice yell "Hey!" There is a guard directly ahead of you, and you have about half a second to blast him before he starts to open fire himself. With him dead, open the blue door on your right to find a storage cupboard. Depending on your difficulty setting, there might be a full BODY ARMOUR suit here, which once again should prove surplus to requirements if you've avoided getting spotted/shot. There is also another filing cabinet in this room, which you should open before chucking a timed mine in to destroy whatever it is that they've got filed away in there. Exit the storage cupboard, turn right and run over to the opening ahead. Turn 90 degrees to the right and side-step left through this opening to find another guide who has been waiting for you (Normal/Hard only). Shoot him and collect any ammo he drops, then turn around to spot the two remaining filing cabinets on the level. Open them both and stick a timed mine in them to complete the "Burn all evidence in the filing cabinets" objective. Make your way down the stairs ahead... *** CHECKPOINT REACHED *** ,- EASY -----------------, | ==================== \_________________________________________________ | | | The next five paragraphs describe final stages of the level when playing | | the game on Easy difficulty setting. If you are playing Normal or Hard | | mode, skip the next five paragraphs. You've still got the main bulk of | | the level to come... Muahahahahahahahah! | |___________________________________________________________________________| Run down the second flight of stairs and you will see a wooden partition ahead of you. Side-step to the left until you pass the end of this, and shoot the guard who spots you. There are two other guards in this area, so hunt them both down and "whack" them before they call for backup. Head right and up the stairs until you reach a sliding metal door. Open this and run to the far end of the room. On one of the computer terminals there should be a square button, which you should press to open a blast door. Shoot through one of the window panes and then walk through the frame to drop back down to ground level. Walk over to the now-open blast door in the far right corner of the room. As you walk in, an decidely peaky-looking fellow jumps to feet and proceeds to try and gnaw your leg off. The only thing that can kill these zombie dudes is a clean head-shot, which results in a delightful crunching noise, accompanied by a swift decapitation. After killing (well, yeah, I know, he was already DEAD) this blood-covered lunatic, open the first door on your right to collect some BODY ARMOUR and GRENADES from the shelves in the room it leads to. Exit this door and go straight into the third and final steel door on your right to find another undead chap, who you need to dismember before proceeding. Have fun destroying the cardboard boxes for some cheap thrills before exiting the room and continuing your path further down into the mines. As you reach the bottom of the pit, you will notice a pair of zombies, and a new objective, "Destroy the bio-hazard container", will flash up on the screen. Cap the two zombies in the heezay, then pick up the green TIME CRYSTAL they were guarding. Finally, dash over to the decidedly odd-looking tank containing the "bio-hazard". Equip the Timed Mines one last time and fling four or five of them at the malevolent structure to destroy it. With your final objective completed, the TIME PORTAL will appear behind you, so make your way back up the mine shaft and walk into the portal, which you really couldn't miss if you tried... ,- NORMAL/HARD ----------, | ==================== \_________________________________________________ | | | Now, for the more "Hardcore" gamers among you, here is the tail-end of | | your walkthrough... | |___________________________________________________________________________| After getting your checkpoint notice, head down the second flight of stairs and strafe left past the wooden boarding until you are spotted by an enemy trooper. Take him out, along with his three other buddies, then head for the stairs that lead up to the computer room. Remember when you did this bit on Easy mode? You know, you just charged through those metal doors and slapped the "door open" button?! Well, whatever you do... DON'T DO THE SAME THING HERE!! Y'see, there are a pair of rather sinister automated miniguns attached to the ceiling gantry in the main hall, and they are poised to open fire on anything which trespasses into the computer room. So, BEFORE you charge up those stairs, use the scope on your Sniper Rifle or Soviet S47 to target the little black-box sensors mounted on the turrets. You'll know if you've hit the right place because the green "Activated" light will stop flashing. When (and only when) you have sent the gun turrets into disrepair, charge up the stairs to the computer room and hit the self-same door-release switch. You will also notice a floppy-disk drive slightly to the right of this button, which has a flashing red light upon it. If you press the (X) when facing it, it will request that you insert a SYSTEM DISK to reactivate the power supply. But wait! OH NOES.. you don't have a security disk!! What are you going to do?! Well, read on and you'll find out ;) Shoot one of the panes of glass beside you and walk through the empty window -frame to drop back down to ground level. You will notice that the blast door in the far-right corner of the room has now been opened, granting you access to the spooky mining pit.. Woo! To your right there are three metal doors, but for now we're only interested in the middle. Well, what are you waiting for?! Go through door number two, there might be a free dishwasher in it for you... ... sadly, there is no dishwasher, only a handful of unsettlingly motionless guards hunched up on the floor. Ah well, you can wash those dishes manually, it's no problem. Walk stealthily through the first door on your left and grasp the phallic-looking joystick with all your might... hoyay! The screen will change from your first person perspective to the viewpoint of a surveillance camera that is pointing directly at the guard standing in the next room. Use the left analog stick to move the camera's crosshair into line with the unsuspecting goon's head, then tap (R2) to exterminate him via the camera's built-in railgun. Finally, tap (^) to disable the camera so that you have a clear path when you cross the next room. Press the two buttons on the desk to your right to open the doors leading through to the lab, then exit the room and turn left through the next doorway. Grab the dead soldier's TACTICAL 12-GAUGE and equip it immediately, then dash down the following corridor and into a darkened room at the far end. As soon as you enter the room, there is a crashing sound as half a dozen or so undead zombies spring to their feet. Immediately run to the back of the room to grab the SYSTEM DISK lying on the floor, then keep strafing around the perimeter of the room whilst firing shotgun rounds at the brain-eaters that are pursuing you. Once they are all dispatched, the lights will whirr and switch back on. The foxy Russian lady will anounce that she is "releasing lockdown" ... and when I think of an innuendo for that, zounds I shall use it! Make your way back out of the laboratory and into the mine system once again. Locate the computer room and put your disk into the drive to make all hell break loose... Oh dear! It seems that using your disk has set all the imprisoned zombies free! What are the chances, eh? Race back down to the digging site, where you will be attacked by two waves of the living-challenged. If you can, try to conserve your Soviet S47 ammo for later on by attacking the zombies with your Shotgun, Silenced Pistol or even your bare hands! Odd as it sounds, one punch to the head results in instant zombie death. Sweet :D After the onslaught of zombies has died down, continue walking down to the very bottom of the pit, taking on another handful of zombies. After you have decapitated them all, pick up the glowing TIME CRYSTAL that is lying on the floor to complete yet another objective. After all this, run over to the Bio-Hazard tank in the far left of the pit. You need to destroy this tank in order to progress, and by far the easiest way to achieve this is to bung a handful of Timed Mines at it and watch it go up in smoke! Once the screen flashes with "OBJECTIVE COMPLETE", turn about face and run back up the path to the Armoury Room once again. Anyone who has ever played a game called Half-Life will no doubt be experiencing a strong feeling of deja vu during the next series of events. It seems that the people in charge of the facility are no longer able to contain the mutated life-forms, and are -- you guessed it!! -- "sending in special forces to eliminate anyone unauthorised". If you run into the main Armoury Chamber straight away, you will be attacked by a mutant and a pair of Special Forces agents. If, however, you stay out of sight for 20 seconds or so, the mutated zombie will kill the two SF agents, leaving you with only it to kill. Pop one in his... err, head(s) to kill him. You now have a new objective: "Don't allow any mutants to survive". There are five mutants dotted about the level, minus the one you just killed off. Mutants are VERY distinctive looking, and they can withstand about 3 times as much abuse as a regular zombie before dying. As you approach the stairs which lead you back up to the main dam building, a flaming mutant will charge down the stairs towards you. You need to kill it, but you MUST NOT let it touch you. If you catch fire, you will have to run and gun all the way back to the shower room to extinguish yourself, at which point almost all of your health will have depleted. Knock off the flaming zombie and proceed up the stairway. Waiting for you at the top of the second staircase will be a lone Special Forces unit, two regular zombies and a mutant. Take out the soldier first, as he is carrying a weapon, then finally evade the two plain vanilla-flavoured zombies while taking a couple of shots at them. Collect any ammo or armour you can lay your hands on before continuing around and to the left, where you will find another two zombies, three Special Forces agents and yet another mutant. Pick them all off before heading back out onto the snowy terrain of Siberia. As soon as you arrive back outside, blast the fifth and final mutant from behind, then pick off the two remain Special Forces from long-range. Dash back towards the dam structure, where you will be accosted by two zombies. Turn to go up the stairs to your right to be greeted by another pair of undead warriors, which -- go on, guess -- you need to kill as well. Once you have killed them, press the button next to the elevator and wait for it to come down to collect you. Once you are safely in the lift, press the button to send it upwards. It will stop twice, and on Hard difficulty a zombie will attack you in this confined space. Once you have stopped the third and final time, climb out of the cubicle and out onto the very top of the bridge. So here you are, you've reached the climax of the level. Walk out onto the bridge to be greeted by a pair of Special Forces and a huge Russian gunship flying above. You need to bring the helicopter down using the three machine -guns situated on the bridge you are standing on. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- BOSS BATTLE: Gunship -------------------- Your best strategy here is to run to the nearest gun turret to you, then use the (R1) button to fire it's secondary-fire payload of 4 heat-seeking missiles. Once you have fired them all, press (^) to leave the machine gun. The chances are you'll be under heavy fire from a swarm of SF units that are gathered around you. Use you Shotgun or S47 to pick them all off, then run over to the next machine-gun and press (X) to commandeer it. Do exactly the same thing with this gun, firing all four secondary missiles, then exit and take out any Special Forces that are bothering you. Run over to the far side of the dam and use the as-yet-unused gun turret to fire four more missiles at the gunship. Provided you aimed the missiles correctly, the gun -ship should only have a sliver of energy left, so just blast it with a few rounds from the machine-gun and watch it crash into the ground in a ball of flames. Properly. Like you know how aim, strafe and move around perfectly, because the arcade league hosts some of the game's utter most toughest challenges. So sort out the controls to suit your playing style and play some of story mode first. Although the early series are good warm ups, they increase in difficulty as you proceed through the leagues, so get ready... heh. I think that the most important thing that you must learn to do is strife. By strifing, you can dodge bullets and attacks better and attack enemies at better angles and such. It's a great idea to circle around a single enemy you while shooting. Standing still just means that there is much more of a chance that you will get shot at, so strafing and moving is essential for survival. The radar is extremely useful as it tells you where everyone is in the level. Sounds stupid and not of much use, but when you are on a very tight time limit and you have to hunt enemies down one after another very quickly, you need it to point you in the right direction. If at first you don't succeed, try again and again and again until you do. It's rare that you are gonna get good results first time. About the awards.. there are four different awards that you will can get. These are Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum (from the worst to best). Getting different awards means you sometimes unlock slightly more, but getting gold or platinum means you unlock everything that the level has to offer. Platinum awards are not required to get 100% in the game, but are an extra challenge to those who want to fully master Timesplitters 2, and in many cases are *incredibly* tough to obtain. ADIOS AMIGOS! ------------- Everyone was enjoying a siesta at the mission until that dirty dog Hector Baboso decided to liven things up. Now everyone's at each others' throats! Make 10 kills within 10 minutes for a trophy. Deathmatch Platinum Requirements - 10 kills in 40.0 secs Gold Requirements - 10 kills in 3 mins 0.0 secs Silver Requirements - 10 kills in 5 mins 0.0 secs Bronze Requirements - 10 kills Playing as Elijah Jones Level - Mexican Mission Starting weapons - Luger Pistol x2 A simple deathmatch where you just kill everyone else. Follow the radar for the positions of the enemies (bear in mind that they generally don't hang around the basement floor in the main building) to get a better time. I would advise using either the Plasma Autorifle or shotgun. If you happen to get set alight, remember to take a dip into the fountain in the courtyard to put yourself out. Getting gold on this shouldn't be too much. CASUALTY -------- Dr. Peabody left the morgue door open and now zombies are running loose all over the Hospital. Visiting time starts in 10 minutes - try to kill 15 of the living dead before then. Deathmatch Platinum Requirements - 15 kills in 1 mins 0.0 secs Gold Requirements - 15 kills in 3 mins 30.0 secs Silver Requirements - 15 kills in 5 mins 30.0 secs Bronze Requirements - 15 kills Playing as Dr. Peabody Level - Hospital Starting weapons - Scifi Handgun Another basic deathmatch, where again getting silver or gold is fairly easy. Use the radar to see where everyone is, and strife alot because the baddies tend to use electrotools. There is a homing launcher in the far left of the toilets, which is good for clearing groups. Other nice weapons worth using are the lasergun and the electrotool. Kill 15 and it's complete. TOP SHOT -------- Prove your authority to the young cadets during combat training! Everyone has 6 lives each, but lose them all, and you'll be out of the military for good! Elimination Platinum Requirements - 1st in 1 mins 10.0 secs Gold Requirements - 1st in 3 mins 0.0 secs Silver Requirements - 1st in 4 mins 0.0 secs Bronze Requirements - 1st Playing as Sgt Shock Level - Hangar Starting weapons - Soviet S47 Everyone has six lives, and once they have used them up they are out. The enemies fight it out between themselves sometimes, which speeds things up, but you want to get in on the action. Use the radar to hunt people down, and the pain enhancing powerup is VERY helpful (this can be found behind a vertical line of crates). The minigun is the ideal weapon here, but the Tactical 12-Gauge is a beaut to use, and can kill in one hit. Keep on the move also. Bronze is easy to achieve, but the higher awards are tougher, especially platinum. There is a FAQ on getting platinum on Top Shot, so if you want a good platinum guide use that. * * * * * * * * ============ MODE MADNESS ============ Here is your first opportunity to play some new modes - Regeneration, Shrink and Vampire. For each level completed you will unlock that mode you have just played for multiplayer. You will also be playing some of these modes later so get used to the rules... CHASTITY CHASED --------------- Chastity is honing her combat skills in a simulated shootout against Sadako at the compound. Virtual health regenerates so you should hold back if you're wounded. The same applies to Sadako, so persevere to score kills. Regeneration Platinum Requirements - 10 kills in 1 mins 0.0 secs Gold Requirements - 10 kills in 3 mins 0.0 secs Silver Requirements - 10 kills in 4 mins 0.0 secs Bronze Requirements - 10 kills Playing as Lt Frost Level - Siberia Starting weapons - Silenced Pistol x2 A one on one this, where using the radar is very helpful to seeing where Sadako is. The weapons that you should be using is either the Tactical 12-Gauge (it's secondary fire kills just about instantly) and the Plasma Autorifle. The rocket launcher is good too. Sadako doesn't really let up in attack, so keep firing with the plasma autorifle and she will stop and stammer, leaving her prime open to attack. No real problems with this one, silver should be fairly easy to get. SHRINKING FROM THE COLD ----------------------- The Time Portal has caused space time anomalies around the Dam. People have been shrinking! Lt. Frost, Nikolai and Sgt. Shivers have spiced up guard duty by making a game out of it. Remember, you won't win if there's anyone bigger than you! Shrink Platinum Requirements - 10 kills in 50.0 secs Gold Requirements - 10 kills in 3 mins 0.0 secs Silver Requirements - 10 kills in 4 mins 0.0 secs Bronze Requirements - 10 kills Playing as Chastity Level - Compound Starting weapons - Scifi Handgun I enjoyed this one, for some untold reason. Use the radar, with the best weapons to use are the Tactical 12-Gauge and the Soviet S47. The best thing to do is get the mini-gun, which is located on the roof of one of the small buildings. This chews up the opposition. If you are doing well, remember to look down slightly as they will be smaller than you. If you are running low on health, there is some in the small building located near the stairwell. SCRAP METAL ----------- UltraNet headquarters want this ChassisBot disposed of as quickly as possible. as possible. Although not heavily armored, it is very agile, so be careful! Power drained from the ChassisBot will refresh your EnviroSuit batteries - don't let them run down! Don't use the Scifi Handgun, use either the electrotool or the homing launcher. The homing launcher, located in the centre of the area, is the better of the two weapons. The homing launcher coupled with the radar make him stand out more and make this easier. Remember to strife to dodge his attack. * * * * * * * * ============= IT'S A BLAST! ============= Essentially you just use Rocket Launcher's and Homing Launchers, so one hit kills are regular. NIGHT SHIFT ----------- It's night shift at the factory, and the Machinist is having a nap. Time to play! Inject some enthusiasm into the other workers before he wakes up. Your health is replenished by damage inflicted so keep up a good hit rate to stay alive! Leech Platinum Requirements - 1st and 50 kills Gold Requirements - 1st and 25 kills Silver Requirements - 1st and 15 kills Bronze Requirements - 1st Playing as R-109 Level - Robot Factory Starting weapons - Rocket Launcher Essentially, just hit and run. Fire a rocket at a robot and keep on moving, just don't fire it too close. Homing launchers help, but are not needed to win. When facing a robot one-on-one, just use circling strafe tactics as they are generally slow (the SentryBot's especially) so use that to your advantage. Overall this is fairly easy, and bronze is a breeze. SPOILS OF WAR ------------- Kills count for nothing in this game, only rewards left behind by the dead contenders are worth collecting. Be the first to collect 25 points! Thief Platinum Requirements - 25 kills in 2 mins 40.0 secs Gold Requirements - 25 kills in 4 mins 30.0 secs Silver Requirements - 25 kills in 5 mins 0.0 secs Bronze Requirements - 25 kills Playing as Sgt Cortez Level - Ice Station Starting weapons - Rocket Launcher Use the radar - stat. It's a large map so I would use it. The rocket launcher does the job here, but if you require some homing goodness then the homing launcher is located in the main building, in the centre of the underground passages, and on the black platform on the side of the level. The speed boosting powerups will cut your time so grab them if you are near one. Whatever you do, DON'T use the gun turrets in the main building as you will not be able to collect the tokens, and the CPU players will lap them up instead. Just keep running around, killing and collecting the tokens and you should get at least a bronze no sweat. DEMOLITION DERBY ---------------- There's nothing like high explosives for reducing ChassisBots to chassis bits. The game lasts 4 minutes... make sure you come out on top! Demolition Platinum Requirements - 1st and 45 kills Gold Requirements - 1st and 25 kills Silver Requirements - 1st and 15 kills Bronze Requirements - 1st Playing as R-109 Level - Scrapyard Starting weapons - Rocket Launcher Like the other two missions, use the radar, keep moving, and don't fire too close. Again, the homing launcher is good in this level as some robots are tricky to spot. Overall it's easy, with even gold being not much of a challenge. Have a blast! * * * * * * * * ================== TOO HOT TOO HANDLE ================== All these levels are set in the 'virus' mode, where you have to stay unaffected as long as possible. Those who are alight with green flames are infected; once you touch them its game over. There is little point shooting people, unless I say when it is advised to. MONKEY IMMOLATION ----------------- Those pesky pyromaniac primates have been juggling torches with disastrous results! The game ends when everyone is set on fire...so avoid those frantic furry flamers! Virus Platinum Requirements - 3 mins 0.0 secs Gold Requirements - 2 mins 0.0 secs Silver Requirements - 1 mins 0.0 secs Bronze Requirements - 30.0 secs Playing as Venus Starr Level - Mexican Mission Starting weapons - Luger pistol x2 Follow this set path and repeat it. Avoid everyone. Start at the fountain, and look towards the two small buildings (opposite the bell). Now go to the left of the building on the left, and at the end go round the back of the building ahead of you. Turn right at the other side, and up the stairs that lead on top of a building ahead of you. Here, stay by the ledge opposite the stairs and wait till someone approaches. When a flaming monkey starts to run up the stairs, run off the ledge and go back to the fountain. Repeat this for three minutes to get platinum. You can collect a speed powerup by the fountain, but you might go to fast for your own good and run into an infected monkey, but if you feel confident enough then use it. DISCO INFERNO ------------- Lady Jane is busy strutting her stuff in the nightclub, and the dance floor is heating up...literally! Avoid the night fever for as long as possible! Virus Platinum Requirements - 3 mins 0.0 secs Gold Requirements - 2 mins 0.0 secs Silver Requirements - 1 mins 0.0 secs Bronze Requirements - 30.0 secs Playing as Lady Jane Level - Night Club Starting weapons - Luger Pistol Follow this set path and repeat it. Avoid everyone. Go to the main hall (the one with the wide set of stairs, with a window at the top of them). Here stand in a corner of the same wall as this window until a virus infected person approaches. When they do, avoid them and run through the window at the top of the stairs. Now go left through the doorway, and when you are at the open area, go to the stairs at the far end of the area that lead in to the night club. At the top of these stairs, turn left, down the corridor ahead and you will come out to the main hallway again. Now return to a corner and repeat until dizzy, or when three minutes are up. This is the toughest of the three to get a platinum on I think, although many think the next one is. Keep trying, nonetheless. BURNS DEPARTMENT ---------------- You might want to keep away from the other patients in the hospital. There's a nasty hot fever going around... you wouldn't want to catch it! Virus Platinum Requirements - 3 mins 0.0 secs Gold Requirements - 2 mins 0.0 secs Silver Requirements - 1 mins 0.0 secs Bronze Requirements - 30.0 secs Playing as Viola Level - Hospital Starting weapons - Luger Pistol Follow this set path and repeat it. Avoid everyone. Start this path at the ledge that oversees the main chapel area (it has a shotgun respawn point here). Equip the shotgun and stand by the ledge, and aim at the door. When a virus infected person heads through the door way, kill em. If you cannot handle it or there is more than one virus infected person approaching, then fall back off the ledge. Now QUICKLY go down the door on the left and straight down the corridor. At the end at the small open area, goto the door on the right / opposite. Through here is another open area, with stairs on your right hand side. Go up these and the door at the top, then the next left, straight across this room to the door opposite and then left, then the doorway on the right. You will arrive at the ledge that you began the path on. Now repeat this (standing on the ledge and waiting until someone approaches, then doing the path) until three minutes are up, and you will earn yourself a platinum. * * * * * * * * ============= TEAM SERIES A ============= These levels involve you being in a team. You play a Team Deathmatch, a Zones match and an assault level. Team series B and C are in the two higher leagues. CLUB SODA --------- Slick Tommy and Jimmy Needles just knocked over your drink, and they're refusing to buy another! Teach them some manners and score 20 kills before they do. Braces and Marco will back you up. Team Deathmatch Platinum Requirements - 20 kills in 1 mins 30.0 secs Gold Requirements - 20 kills in 3 mins 0.0 secs Silver Requirements - 20 kills in 4 mins 0.0 secs Bronze Requirements - 20 kills Playing as Louie Bignose Level - Night Club Starting weapons - Luger Pistol This is very easy. You must kill the members of the blue team, use the radar to find them. Get the Tommy Gun or Shotguns as soon as possible, as they are very useful. Avoid using the Luger Pistol or the TNT though. If you going for fast times, then if you start outside, restart so you can start inside (as staying inside means you encounter the blue team more, meaning more kills). Just keep on the move. Its very easy to get below gold, and gold is simple. STATION STAND ------------- A squad of SentryBots are attempting to take over the Ice Station asteroid. Team up with the Space Troopers to secure critical locations and repel the attack. Zones Platinum Requirements - 1000 in 3 mins 15.0 secs Gold Requirements - 1000 in 4 mins 30.0 secs Silver Requirements - 1000 in 5 mins 30.0 secs Bronze Requirements - 1000 Playing as Female Trooper Level - Ice Station Starting weapons - SciFi Handgun The aim here is to get and keep all the zones in your teams colour. To change a zones colour, just travel over it. The zones in this level are both of the two buildings that are on the edges, one on the black ledge on the side of the level and also one in the underground passages. The zones are your priority here, so keep travelling between them all the time. Only kill others (the other team, might be better) as you are going along. Grab the speed powerups that are located on the edge of the level to increase speed, so get these while you can, and also grabbing a rocket launcher is ideal for quick kills. Use the radar also (the flashing dots are the zones). Overall, fairly easy. MEN IN GREY ----------- A bunch of suits have been seen near the Training Ground blockhouse. They've put in some computers and it looks like they might be starting a dotcom consultancy business. Hit them hard before they try to float the company and pocket the cash! Assault Platinum Requirements - 1 min 0.0 secs Gold Requirements - 3 mins 30.0 secs Silver Requirements - 5 mins 0.0 secs Bronze Requirements - 10 mins 0.0 secs Playing as Private Grass Level - Training Ground Starting weapons - Tactical 12 Gauge Your first assault level. You get several objectives to complete, while you are on one team and there is another team you are playing against. Here is a walkthrough for this one - 1 - SEIZE THE MIDDLE GROUND The middle ground is the waterfall at the middle of the level. Collect the homing launcher or the soviet S47 in your base before hand. The Homing Launcher is great at taking out groups of the suits, or the gun stands (although ignoring them is perhaps a better choice). Go outside your base, and strife left and right while running to avoid fire, and go to the valley (the dip just ahead). Collect the armour and carry on going. Dodge and fire your way forward, and take you the gun turret along the way. Keep going and you will reach a waterfall - run into the pool to complete the first objective, and now whenever you die you will restart here. 2 - DESTROY THE ENEMNY FUEL DRUMS From the waterfall go left up the hill (and collect the homing launcher if it is there) and go behind the boulder with the gun on top ahead. Destroy the gun turret now so if you die later you don't get troubled by it. To get a minigun here. go right from the boulder and look down the path you just come up through, and there is a ledge that is over it. Go across this ledge and collect the minigun. Put its secondary fire into action (if you collected it) kill any suits that cross your path. You have to blow up the fuel drums in this area to complete this objective. They are located - On the right hand side in the open (in front of their base), the left side in the open, in the destroyed building on the left, the top left corner by the tree, the top right next to the base and outside top floor of the base. 3 - DESTROY ENEMY COMPUTERS The last objective is easy enough, simply go into their base, and preferably with the homing launcher or minigun, blow up all the computers on the ground floor, including all the monitor screens. When you have done this, this assault level is complete, as it the amateur league. Nice one. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* 04.c Honorary League *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* ======= MAXIMUS ======= All three of these levels are Gladiator modes, which is a new mode to you. It is where one person is the gladiator, and is white in colour. They are the only person that can kill others and get scored for it. Those who are not the gladiator and kill other people will not get kills or points added to their totals. To be the gladiator, you have to kill the gladiator. Once you are though (your screen will have a yellow tint), you become somewhat a magnet as everyone is after you, so kill as many people as you can before you die. COLD CORPSE CAPER ----------------- After dark the freaks crawl off their slabs and prowl the Hospital morgue. Cyberfairy has dropped in to sprinkle some hot lead pixie dust and send them back to sleep! Gladiator Platinum Requirements - 1st and 40 kills Gold Requirements - 1st and 15 kills Silver Requirements - 1st and 10 kills Bronze Requirements - 1st Playing as Cyberfairy Level - Hospital Starting weapons - Silenced Luger x2 Use the radar to find the gladiator (the blue dot) and become it to get kills. Get a better weapon as soon as you can, like the Tommy gun, grenade launcher, or shotgun. When you are gladiator, aim to pick off people one at a time, as in groups it is easier to die and lose you status. This is a good warm up for the gladiator mode, and is easy to get bronze. KILLER QUEEN ------------ "...the monkey wasn't too happy but the lion said he was glad he ate her!" Ha ha ha! The Jungle Queen is sick of what passes for humour round these parts. Crack some heads and wipe those silly smiles off their faces. Gladiator Platinum Requirements - 15 kills in 1 mins 50.0 secs Gold Requirements - 15 kills in 3 mins 0.0 secs Silver Requirements - 15 kills in 4 mins 0.0 secs Bronze Requirements - 15 kills Playing as Jungle Queen Level - Aztec Starting weapons - Garret Revolver x2 Like the last one, use the radar and follow the blue dot to find the gladiator. Grab a Tactical 12-Gauge and use the secondary fire to make this become cakewalk. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. R109 BETA --------- The latest run of R-109 prototypes are being combat tested. The most lethal unit will receive a command firmware upgrade. Demonstrate that you are the best. Gladiator Platinum Requirements - 42 kills Gold Requirements - 40 kills Silver Requirements - 25 kills Bronze Requirements - 15 kills and 1st Playing as R-109 Level - Ice Station Starting weapons - Rocket Launcher First of all, use the radar and find the blue dot to locate the gladiator. Kill him, then go to the underground passages. Goto the middle where the black grate is, and collect and equip the Homing Launcher located next to it. Now stay in this area and kill all those who approach you. They come from all three sides, so use the radar to help you. Keep on the move as a single rocket could kill you. If you are killed, do that same, reclaim the gladiator status and return to the underground passages. This is fairly tough, but with a bit of skill and luck gold and platinum is very possible with this method. * * * * * * * * ================== ELIMINATION SERIES ================== Elimination (which all three of these levels are bar the last) is where you basically have lives, and once they are all gone you lose. These levels are very easy too. BAKING FOR THE TAKING --------------------- Chef's baked up nine delicious gingerbread fortune cookies. Looks like he used too much raising agent - they're running away! Elimination Platinum Requirements - 2 mins 20.0 secs Gold Requirements - 3 mins 0.0 secs Silver Requirements - 4 mins 0.0 secs Bronze Requirements - 1st Playing as Chinese Chef Level - Chinese Starting weapons - Minigun Perhaps the easiest arcade level out of them all. Just stick your minigun onto secondary fire and blast all the gingermen in sight. Don't be afraid to get stuck in. There is an extremely high chance that you will get Platinum first time. NEXT! BRACE YOURSELF -------------- It had to happen. Braces just caught Louie Bignose and Jimmy Needles badmouthing him in front of Big Tony. Doity rats! Now they're gonna pay, see? Keep on the move, and collect the armour pickup if you want to. Silver here is quite easy to get. STARSHIP WHOOPERS ----------------- Hank, R-109, and Gretel II are helping Candi learn advanced combat techniques. During the lesson, prototype space monkeys will be beamed in to help the weakest player. Never a dull day in the Academy! Monkey Assistant Platinum Requirements - 1st and 30 kills Gold Requirements - 1st and 25 kills Silver Requirements - 1st and 15 kills Bronze Requirements - 1st Playing as Candi Skyler Level - Scrapyard Starting weapons - Rocket Launcher Monkey Assistant is where the losing player gets monkeys to help them out killing others. Follow the radar as per usual to hunt down others, and prepare the strife and dodge a lot as rockets are used here. When you hear a trumpet blow, monkeys arrive for a short period of time to help the losing player. The nice thing is that killing this monkeys adds to your killing total, and as they are close together at times, this makes it all much easier. It really shouldn't be hard at all to come in 1st place. =============== BURNS 'N' BANGS =============== Here you mainly use Rocket Launchers, Homing Launchers and Flame Throwers. Using the rockets are the best bet overall, but it really depends with what you prefer using. Be sure that if you are set alright to run into other people to set them alight also. CHINESE BURNS ------------- The Chinese Chef insists on only the freshest ingredients. Looks like he got more than he bargained for with the latest air freighted shipment of Calamari - they leapt straight out of the pan and are now trying to flambe him! Find a weapon. Punching people isn't the best way to go. Flame Throwers are nice, but it means that you have to get close to others, and if they have flame throwers too, its a little risky. The better choice is the either the rocket launcher or homing launcher. But I guess that the flame thrower is better than nothing so use it if you have no choice. If you are set alight, run around into others to set them alight too, you might as well. Bronze here isn't that tough, but higher medals could prove tricky. SNOW BUSINESS ------------- All the children love a Snowman... well, nearly all the children. The Machinist and his twisted siblings like nothing better than torching their chilly chums. Frosty's nose isn't just shiny - it's dripping with gasoline! Anyone got a match? Get a flame thrower as you soon as you can (there are no other weapons here _) and burn baby burn. Its best to tackle the snowmen side on, as from the front you could get set alight by their 'throwers. When they are set alight, run so that they don't run into you. If you are set alight, then run around and set others alight before you die. That is really all the advise I can give. Chao. ROCKET MAN ---------- Sergio loves to visit the Streets at night! He relishes the feel of the cold snowy air gusting through his loincloth as he scampers up and down. But most of all he loves to show off with his rocket launcher in front of the lovely ladies... Team Deathmatch Platinum Requirements - 1 mins 5.0 secs- 40 kills Gold Requirements - 1 mins 30.0 secs - 40 kills Silver Requirements - 2 mins 0.0 secs - 40 kills Bronze Requirements - 40 kills Playing as Sergio Level - Streets Starting weapons - Rocket Launcher When you start, make your way to the stairwell that's located about in the center of the level (its a small and lighted stairwell, that has a armour respawn point just outside and has a graffitied picture inside on the wall of an animal holding a handgun). Grab the armour that is outside, and stand inside the stairwell next to the wall opposite the doorway. Now as the ladies approach through the doorway, or appear outside or come down the stairs, hurl abuse at them in rocket form. When a rocket is fired at you, strife to the right to avoid it. If you die, come back to this area. Bronze is easy enough, Silver is tough, Gold is amazingly hard and platinum, well, don't go there. But in an anesthetic-induced daze he thinks that some giant ducks are after his new thatch to feather their nests! Help him out by whacking dem malicious mallards. Team Deathmatch Platinum Requirements - 80 kills Gold Requirements - 60 kills Silver Requirements - 50 kills Bronze Requirements - 40 kills Playing as Big Tony Level - Hospital Starting weapons - Shotgun The place you need to be for all the time you are here is the ledge on the 1st Floor that overseas the main chapel (it has a shotgun x2 respawn point there). Stand aiming at the doorway, and shoot the ducks as they come through with the x2 shotguns. When the coast is clear get more ammo at the shotgun respawn point. You will need to kill the ducks very quickly otherwise you will die surprisingly fast, as they come onto the ledge and surround you. Strifing around the door might help you. This is a very tough level, but this method will at least get you above a gold medal. TIME TO SPLIT ------------- Krayola thought her tattoos and piercings were pretty freaky until the Scourge Splitters turned up at the compound. Show them that there's more to it than just looking hard... Team Deathmatch Platinum Requirements - 15 kills in 1 mins 20.0 secs Gold Requirements - 15 kills in 2 mins 30.0 secs Silver Requirements - 15 kills in 3 mins Bronze Requirements - 15 kills Playing as Krayola Level - Compound Starting weapons - SciFi Handgun Get a better weapon that what you have got to start with. Here's the plan - there is a room upstairs in one of the buildings that has SBP90 machine guns x2, which are needless to say are awesome. Get these as your weapon of choice. A good idea is to camp on the stairs just outside the room you got the machine guns from and aim down, then as they come shoot em to feck. If you become low on health, then the room below has a health pickup and remember to rearm your self with bullets when your ammo is low. This method means that a gold medal is much easier to obtain. CAN'T HANDLE THIS ----------------- Welcome to Hatchet Sal's cheese-induced nightmare. Well, at least we know what Big Tony's left-hand man looks like. Just goes to show, if you mutilate people for a living you've got to expect to lose some sleep... But you know that already, that's why you come here, right? Whatever happens, don't use the pistols unless you wanna fail badly. Even two of them cannot kill fast enough, and facing even one handy man will most likely mean a quick death. There is one method here that works, and is perhaps the only way to go. Make your way to the basement floor on the nightclub via the wide set of stairs. Keep going until you reach the end, where there is a set of double doors with funny multicoloured lights either side. Here is a Tommy Gun x2 spawn point. I have drawn an ASCII map below so that you can get an idea of that this area is like. The guns are at point 1 below on the map. Collect it and walk to point 2 on the map, and look towards point 3 (the corridor corner ahead). Wait until the handy men guys come round this corner and shoot them quick. Keep doing this. If you reload, dart to the respawn point again then return to point two. If you die, then repeat this process. With a bit of luck you will get a bronze medal. With a LOAD of luck, the higher medals. Get a better weapon than the one you already start with, the plasma autorifle is perhaps the best bet, especially with its sticky grenades (the secondary fire). Use the radar to find the other team, they are the blue dots. Go. RICE CRACKER RUSH ----------------- Ghost and a crack team of pacifist Monks are taking on the Riot Squad in a running Streets battle for some bags of munchies. The Monks are riding a heavy sugar rush after a rice cracker binge and are pretty wired. So much for non-violent protest! Capture the Bag Platinum Requirements - 5 in 3 mins 0.0 secs Gold Requirements - 5 in 4 mins 0.0 secs Silver Requirements - 5 in 5 mins 0.0 secs Bronze Requirements - 5 Playing as Ghost Level - Streets Starting weapons - Soviet S47 From your base, run down the street and round the corner. Carry on going and enter the first doorway on the left, to get the invisibility powerup. Go out onto the street again and take another left directly after, collect the armour, and exit by the overhead bridge. Follow the road until you reach their base. Steal their bag and pick up the nearby mini gun. Equip it and put it on secondary fire. Return it to your base, shooting the other team members as you go. When you score, repeat the process until you have scored five times. Remember that not every time you do a run the powerup or armour might not be there, as it might not have respawned in time. If your teams bag gets stolen, then use the radar to locate the flashing blue dot (of whom has your bag). Kill that person then collect your bag to return it to your base, and so that you can score again. SUPERFLY LADY ------------- Khallos is hoping to escape in his evil leer jet - but typically he has forgotten to fuel it up. If Kitten can just manage to beat off the henchmen and blow their barrels then his evil flight plans will be foiled once again... Assault Platinum Requirements - 1 mins 30.0 secs Gold Requirements - 2 mins 0.0 secs Silver Requirements - 3 mins 0.0 secs Bronze Requirements - 6 mins 0.0 secs Playing as Kitten Celeste Level - Hanger Starting weapons - Silenced Pistol x2 There are stacks of baddies that never cease in coming, so don't lose sleep over killing them. Just kill those who get in the way, or fire a spirt of bullets at them to make them stumble. 1 - DISABLE PARIMETER GUNS Start off my getting a better weapon - the Soviet S47 is ideal. When you start, go through the doors and take a right. Peep round the corner and take out the gun placement on the wall ahead. Now goto the left side of these crates, peep out and take out the gun here. Walk out to the open area, and shoot or grenade the gun placement ahead. Take a right at this point. You will see a small, metal corrugated door with gun placements either side, a grenade or two will make them no more. Go through the door, right, then round the crate ahead and take out the gun on top of the crate from behind. To the right is another gun placement in the open. Now run down this area to where the stairs are, and go behind them to avoid fire from the ceiling guns nearby. Collect the Soviet S47 respawn here. Take out the ground gun placement to the right. Look up at the ceiling, and shoot the two ceiling guns here from behind so you don't get shot. Now the guns are disabled and this objective is complete. 2 - OPEN THE HANGER DOOR Run up the stairs located nearby. Go forward and left at the corner on the left. Follow the wall down and at the end is a switch, and when used, opens the hanger door. 3 - DESTROY THE FUEL DRUMS Go to the base of the stairs, and the hanger door nearby has now been opened. Go through here and keep going until you get to the hanger (a very large area with a plane). Go right to the set of wheels and destory the fuel drum here, then go to the other set of wheels and destroy the drums there. Assault level complete. Be sure to strife and move around a lot to ensure success. BABES IN THE WOODS ------------------ Harry Tipper, alone in the Aztec Jungle, with a bunch of gorgeous young ladies... with his reputation? Has no one thought of the consequences? Just keep your bow in hand Tipper, and don't be getting shrunk just so you can look up their skirts! Shrink Platinum Requirements - 1st and 25 kills Gold Requirements - 1st and 20 kills Silver Requirements - 1st and 15 kills Bronze Requirements - 1st Playing as Harry Tipper Level - Aztec Starting weapons - Unarmed The easiest way I found to get gold / platinum on this level is to only use your fists. Be sure to goto the start menu, preferences then put 'Never' on weapon change so you don't equip the cross bow at any time. It only takes one punch to kill one of the girls, and as I find punching is far more accurate, its far better and racks up more kills. Go to an area where are lot of girls about and go punching crazy. DOUBLE BILL ----------- Big Tony thought he was on to a winner when he booked the King and the Beetles to play a gig at the famous Chasm club. Imagine his surprise when these jokers showed up! And paid in advance! Needless to say, Tony wants his money back. Thief Platinum Requirements - 20 in 2 mins 30.0 secs Gold Requirements - 20 in 3 mins 30.0 secs Silver Requirements - 20 in 4 mins 30.0 secs Bronze Requirements - 20 Playing as Big Tony Level - Chasm Starting weapons - Unarmed Another level where you start unarmed. The best choice here is the Tactical 12-Gauge, with its near instant kill secondary fire. Keep on the move at all times, and when you spot someone else kill them quickly, as they can kill you in a flash. Keep moving to different areas, and with a bit of luck you might find some tokens that the others didn't collect. When it comes to collecting the tokens, be quick in doing so as the others are more quicker that you are and so will get to them first. Also use any powerups that you come across, as every little helps. NIKKI KINKI BRICKY ------------------ Nikki and Jinki have taken over the Chinese restaurant. But it is haunted by the restless spirits who hit themselves on the head with bricks while trying to master the Brick Flung High challenge from the original TimeSplitters! Help your sister lay their souls to rest! Team Deathmatch Platinum Requirements - 20 kills in 1 mins 30.0 secs Gold Requirements - 20 kills in 2 mins 0.0 secs Silver Requirements - 20 kills in 2 mins 30.0 secs Bronze Requirements - 20 kills Playing as Nikki Level - Chinese Starting weapons - Unarmed The only weapon in this level is the almighty brick, and you are teamed with Jinky. If you are unarmed, TOTALLY avoid all zombies until you grab some bricks. Bricks, if you don't know already here, means a one hit kill. I think that aiming up slightly at all times is helpful, as it makes the bricks travel a little bit further. When attacking zombies, the worst thing is to go head on. Instead strife around the zombie and throw bricks while doing so. Only go attacking one zombie at a time, and always keep in the move. BTW, the body armour is useless here, so there is no need to collect some. * * * * * * * * ============ DUEL MEANING ============ These are one on one deathmatch duels and are very challenging. You get 5 lives each, and who ever loses them first, well, loses. Keeping your 5 lives to the end will earn you a platinum (for the first two levels, the last one also includes a time limit). IF I'M UGLY - YOU SMELL! ------------------------ Mikey told Jared that his center parting made him look like a water buffalo so then Jared told Mikey that he looked like one. There's only one way to settle a difference of opinion out West - a good ol' shootout! Yeehaw! Get yer guns! Deathmatch Platinum Requirements - 1st and 5 lives Gold Requirements - 1st and 4 lives Silver Requirements - 1st and 3 lives Bronze Requirements - 1st Playing as - Jarad Slim Level - Mexican Mission Starting weapons - Unarmed I found this the hardest duels out of the three in this set, where as others find this the easiest. Its tricky as it involves a good aim, something of which I'm not that good at. Anyways, this is how you do it. Start, and if you are not under the bell or in one of the buildings on the courtyard, restart this level, as you only need to be in the courtyard. When you are, find a weapon and go to in between the two small buildings, and look towards the fountain area. Keep strifing to the left and right as he might appear suddenly and fire a shot. When he appears, shot him (duh) but keep your distance and KEEP MOVING AND STRIFING. Don't stop. Aim for his chest area and shoot until he falls. It only takes several shots for him to kill you, so you have dodge all you can (especially if you want Platinum). When he has fell, go collect the ammo and the possible Garrett Revolver x2 he was holding. Now go back to the buildings and repeat. If he comes running towards you unarmed, he is heading to the weapon spawn point that is between the buildings. So shoot at him and at the last moment collect the weapon. He will then turn and run off, so kill him for an easy kill. Its very hard to get a platinum here, but keep trying and if he comes unarmed enough times and his aim isn't as great as it normally is, then platinum is in sight. GOLEM GURU ---------- Two years have passed down at the Site and the building still isn't finished! The reason? A mass of discarded hardcore has come to life and chased all of the builders away. Only the lightning reflexes and guile of the Master can finally lay the Golem to rest. Deathmatch Platinum Requirements - 1st and 5 lives Gold Requirements - 1st and 4 lives Silver Requirements - 1st and 3 lives Bronze Requirements - 1st Playing as The Master Level - Site Starting weapons - Unarmed At first this may seem very tough, but there are weaknesses that you can use to your advantage here, and then even platinum doesn't become much of a challenge no more. Make sure you start somewhere near the main area (a small building that holds a grenade launcher, shotgun and health pickups, and an armour point nearby). So when you start, go here and collect all the stuff in the building and the armour pickup. You are aiming to prevent the golem getting this objects for his own use, so you have the upper hand. There is also a grenade launcher in the corner hidden by a wall, which when the coast is clear (when he is not around) you can go collect to prevent him getting this too, but the other objects are the priority. When the golem comes, use the grenade launcher directly at him so they explode on him, and don't use the secondary fire. Keep a distance at all times, as his shotgun rounds that he fires hurt. As you are fighting him, keep checking into the doorway of the building to see if any of the items have regenerated. If they have go collect them immediately. Its absolutely essential that he does not collect these items. When he down, go collect the item again, including the health and armour as there will be a chance that you have been injured. When he comes again, repeat the process. As long as you make sure he doesn't get the items, this doesn't become much of a problem. If he does manage to get a grenade launcher though (from the corner hidden behind then wall or elsewhere) then strife and keep your distance as he tends to use the flaming grenades. If you get set alight or die, then restart as he can then collect the stock and you lose out on the items and it all becomes harder. GOLDEN THIGHS ------------- Kitten Celeste is pretty miffed 'cause Harry Tipper has been spending rather too much time in the company of the Jungle Queen. Kitten says too many muscles look bad on a lady and her tan's fake anyway. So it looks like it's a catfight at the Dam! Deathmatch Platinum Requirements - 5 kills in 1 mins 30.0 secs Gold Requirements - 5 kills in 2 mins 0.0 secs Silver Requirements - 5 kills in 2 mins 30.0 secs Bronze Requirements - 5 kills Playing as Kitten Celeste Level - Siberia Starting weapons - Unarmed The only weapon you will be needing here is the Soviet S47, for its secondary fire. So keep restarting the level until you start on the roof, so you can walk across the boards and collect the soviet S47 x2. Jump off the building and look out for the jungle queen. She's deadly and will kill you quickly, so keep your distance. When she is far away, fire a grenade or two at her, or where she will follow to kill her (if its aimed correctly). If not then lure her, and run away so she follows, and fire and grenade or two at the point where you think she will goto or stop and fire at you. A single grenade will kill her, and do this several times and you should do it - its fairly easy using this method. Don't use any other weapon but the Soviets secondary fire. If run out of grenades, then find another Soviet S47 and reload. If you are low on health, then the building nearest the stair well has the curing goods you need. * * * * * * * * ============== FRANTIC SERIES ============== Frantic as in quick, these are based on the Frantic mode in the Arcade custom. These are simple matches but at a quicker pase with tough times to compete with for the higher awards. HANGAR HAT'S OFF! ----------------- The Henchmen think they're hard enough to beat a Special Forces' Team in a shootout down at the old Hangar. They need to be taught a lesson. Professional soldiers don't prance around dressed like bananas - and baseball caps and IR goggles are so 90's... Team Deathmatch Platinum Requirements - 30 kills in 1 mins 15.0 secs Gold Requirements - 30 kills in 1 mins 30.0 secs Silver Requirements - 30 kills in 2 mins 0.0 secs Bronze Requirements - 30 kills Playing as Sgt Shock Level - Hangar Starting weapons - Unarmed Single stuff this, you know the drill. Use either the Soviet S47 (grenades to clear groups) or the Tactical 12-Gauge. Shoot the guys in yellow, and follow the radar if you need help in finding them (they are the blue dots). Grab the armour or damage multiplier if needed. Bronze is very easy. CAN'T PLEASE EVERYONE... ------------------------ The Hospital needs redecorating. The Maidens like the idea of a cheerful red but the Priests are dead set on blue. Test out your colour schemes in key rooms to see what would be best. Zones Platinum Requirements - 800 in 2 mins 30.0 secs Gold Requirements - 800 in 3 mins 0.0 secs Silver Requirements - 800 in 4 mins 0.0 secs Bronze Requirements - 800 Playing as Maiden Level - Hospital Starting weapons - Unarmed Like the other zones levels, keep moving between the zones, as this is your priority. Use the radar - the flashing dots are the zones, and the ones in blue currently belong to the other team, so they need changing. It helps if you attack the other team on the way of course, and using the Tommy Gun x2 will help (perhaps the best weapon to use). I would tend to steer clear of the grenade launcher. BIG TOP BLOWOUT --------------- There's been unrest at the Circus since Stumpy hammered a tent peg up Mr. Giggles' nose as part of last night's show. Mischief has cracked open a case of Homing Rocket Launchers and now it's every freak for themselves! Deathmatch Platinum Requirements - 1st and 45 kills Gold Requirements - 1st and 35 kills Silver Requirements - 1st and 25 kills Bronze Requirements - 1st Playing as Ringmistress Level - Circus Starting weapons - Unarmed Homing rockets ahoy! This is the only weapon here, and is pretty fun (well I thought so anyways). Everyone is for them self, and KEEP MOVING and strifing and the like, as these rockets are homing, remember? Keep an eye out for them also. Firing from a distance helps too, so you can dodge those that are fired at you. And again, use the radar to locate people so you can get more kills. Bronze isn't too tough. * * * * * * * * ============= TEAM SERIES C ============= Woah.. indepth strats time. This is the final TEAM SERIES and is the hardest, with an every tough assault level at the end. BAGS OF FUN ----------- When Cortez and Hart aren't knocking seven bells out of the TimeSplitters they like to invite them over to the Ice Station for a friendly game of capture the bag. The TimeSplitters are inclined to take it a bit too seriously... Capture the Bag Platinum Requirements - 10 bags better Gold Requirements - 7 bags better Silver Requirements - 5 bags better Bronze Requirements - 3 bags better Playing as Corp Hart Level - Ice Station Starting weapons - Unarmed Your base is the top floor of the building in the center of the level, and the other teams base is on the black platform on the side of the level. When you being in your base, find a rocket launcher and equip it. You should now go out of the building and head towards their base. Before though, to the right of the black platform where the base is located on an icy ledge is a speed powerup. Grab it, and go collect their bag. Then run back to your base and score. On the next run the speed powerup shouldn't have regenerated yet, but go ahead regardless. After this run, the speed powerup should have respawned. In other words, the speed powerup regenerate by every two complete runs you do. Repeat this until the time runs out. If they have stolen your bag, then goto their base and camp there until the bag holder arrives (take their bag first for safety). Use a rocket or sticky grenade (the Plasma Autorifles secondary fire) and pick up your bag so it returns back to your base. Only use the rocket launcher on the bag holders and those who hassle you. And if you are lucky, you might be able to collect an invisibility powerup at their base, of which they collect usually, but might have left. Its useful and will help, but its not essential. For avoiding their fire, as always, strife. Their plasma fire is easily visible, so you should be able to dodge most of the shots they fire your way. If you use the help here, then silver plus is bound to be yours. THEY'RE NOT PETS! ----------------- Mr. Giggles and Stumpy ordered a bunch of Baby Drones 'Splitters off the Internet. When they arrived they bit the Bear's nose and ripped off Lola's costume. The Ringmistress is not pleased - she wants rid of them! Watch out for the Bear though, he's pretty mad. Team Deathmatch Platinum Requirements - 1st and 55 kills Gold Requirements - 1st and 40 kills Silver Requirements - 1st and 30 kills Bronze Requirements - 1st Playing as Mister Giggles Level - Circus Starting weapons - Crossbow No radar here. You are teamed with the circus freaks (the red team), against the baby dronesplitters (the yellow team), and the bear (the blue team). There are a bunch of nice weapons here that you can use. The crossbows secondary fire, the Tactical 12-Gauge's secondary fire, the Plasma Autorifle (sticky grenades are good as per usual) and the best, the S8P90 Machine Gun x2. This can be found in the main arena area, and kills the baby drones amazingly quick, and so its useful. Flamethrowers are here also, so beware of those who use them and others running around on fire. A good idea is to collect the S8P90 Machine Gun x2 from the main arena, and go around killing those you come across. Keep moving and dodging and reammo at the respawn point if you are running low on bullets. This will get your team a lot more kills and will make those higher awards easier. NICE THREADS ------------ United only by a passion for dressing up in silly costumes, R107 and Leo Krupps join forces to storm the Scrapyard Control Room. It's a death-defying assault against the SentryBots - but watch out for those thread lasers Leo! Oops, too late... Assault Platinum Requirements - 2 mins 40.0 secs Gold Requirements - 5 mins 0.0 secs Silver Requirements - 10 mins 0.0 secs Bronze Requirements - 15 mins 0.0 secs Playing as R One-Oh-Seven Level - Scrapyard Starting weapons - Unarmed The last assault, and as you could have guessed, the hardest. Follow the walkthrough below and you could easily get platinum. Before the walkthrough though, here's some things you must take note of.. - If you die while attempting objectives 1 and 2, then restart. There is no point carrying on without the lasergun otherwise you will die so fast it isn't funny. At attempting objective 3, its alright to die. - Ignore ALL enemies. That includes shooting at them, as well as shooting the gun wall placements. - Always keep moving. Never stop. - This is very much based on luck (the first two objectives especially). It can take about 20 attempts to get to objective 3 without dieing, so keep trying, again and again and again... 1 - BREACH AIRLOCK Depending on where you start, there are two large block like things ahead of you. The left of the left block is the lasergun. It is _essential_ that you collect this weapon. If the other guy collects it, restart. Don't use it yet. Now go to the far right of the area, activate the lasergun's secondary fire and move towards the laser gun at the end. The wall mounted gun's fire will be blocked by your shield. When you are near it, while ALWAYS looking at the gun, move so you are against the other wall, and walk backwards until you reach the doorway. Strife into the doorway a little, the turn into it and run through the door. The fire from the guns here will be stopped by your shield. Go through another door, and take a left. You have now completed the first objective. 2 - SECURE COOLING TOWERS! Turn off the shield to save the lasergun's power and follow the linear corridor. When you reach a more open area, there is a gun to your right. So turn towards it, then turn the shield on and strife left to get protected from its fire. Carry on. Now a tricky part.. this path spirals down, going round a center of which is littered with gun placements. Face the center of the open area, and strife down the spiralling path. Keep going until you reach the bottom, an enclosed area. Keep the shield on mind, go round these corners and at the open area, dart forward to the end, then go right and left through the doorway. With some luck you would have made it here, and you have completed the second objective. 3 - SEIZE CONTROL ROOM! Follow the corridor, and collect the armour in the indent when you reach it (if its there to pick up that is..) then carry on. Run through the next open area to directly ahead of you, and follow this corridor. The next open area has a split, go right, then another corridor, and another open area. Here run round the column in the middle to the other side's entryway, with 'Control Room' on the wall. Round the corner and up the steps, followed by another two sets you should go up. Now you have a choice of going ahead or right - VERY quickly go right then left to avoid a laser gun placement (if you have the lasergun still, use its shield at this point). Now go ahead to complete the level. Phew. * * * * * * * * ========================== SINCEREST FORM OF FLATTERY ========================== The last arcade set is easy compared to most of the others, and are taking the micheal out of other 1st person titles with their names and plots. They are Turok Dinosaur Hunter (Aztec the dino hunter), Half life (Half Death) and Red Fraction (Dead Fraction). Its a nice light hearted way to finish the arcade league. :) AZTEC THE DINO HUNTER --------------------- Aztec Warrior just loves to hunt dinosaurs! Be hasty in fighting them as it only takes several hits for you to kick the bucket. Strifing and moving left to right is essential to dodging (since when wasn't it?). Fighting them in groups can be tough and death will arise, so try and pick them off one at a time. Using the secondary fire (rapid arrow fire) is very useful, and hide round a corner or something when reloading. Keep on the move. HALF DEATH ---------- The Scientist have been experimenting with reactor cores and anomalous materials with the usual results - a trans-dimensional rift with aliens running amok. The marines have been sent in to shoot anything that moves. That includes you, Dr. Peabody! The weapons I would use are the Soviet S47x2 (using the grenades to clear the groups), the Tactical 12-Gauge (the wonderful secondary fire close up kills a treat) and the plasma autorifle. The crossbow however I wouldn't touch, but if you are confident in using it, then go right on ahead and do so. This is all standard stuff that you have done before, so this is a clinch. DEAD FRACTION ------------- The miners of the Ulcer Corp. are dying of a strange Pox and the company executives are running a cynical sweepstakes on the mortality figures - "Guess the Dread Fraction". The miners with the Pox are revolting, none more so than Jebediah Crump! You need an extra controller for a two player game, and a multitap and some more controllers for 3 player and up. ========= GAME PACE ========= When you select Arcade Custom, these options will appear: Chilled Normal Frantic This will set the pace of your arcade game. Selecting Chilled will make it slower that normal, normal is how it normally is, and Frantic is where you play the game faster than normal. ========== GAME MODES ========== After selecting your game pace, you must choose what game mode you wish to play. Here is a list of what there is to choose from, the rules of each game and how to unlock it. Note that not all the modes are unlocked straight away, but you have to play through the Arcade leagues to unlock them all. Deathmatch ---------- Kill the other Contenders! Simply go around and shooting anything that moves. This is unlocked already. Tean Deathmatch --------------- Kill the other team! You are on a team with other people, and you have to kill the opposing team/s. This is unlocked already. Capture the Bag --------------- Each team attempts to capture the other team's bag, and return it to their own base to score. If one team has the other teams bag then the that team cannot score until they get their own bag at their own base. You cannot play all the levels in this mode however; you can only play it on the Mexican Mission, Ice Station, Training Ground, Hangar, Streets, and the Compound. This is unlocked already. Bag Tag ------- There is only one bag and the person to hold onto it the longest wins. You bump into the bag holder to grab the bag off them, and you just got to avoid everyone else. This is unlocked already. Elimination ----------- Everyone has a certain amount of lives and once they are all going they lose. you unlock this by completing TOP SHOT in the arcade league. Shrink ------ The contenders size is based upon their ranking. The people that are coming first are the tallest, but the ones that are last and are losing are the smallest. You unlock this by completing SHRINKING FROM THE COLD in the Arcade League. Vampire ------- Killing others will expand your lifespan. Completing DEMOLITION DERBY in arcade league unlocks this happy happy joy joy mode. Thief ----- When someone dies, they leave behind a token; you collect these tokens to get a kill. When you complete SPOILS OF WAR in the arcade league you unlock the Theif mode. Flame Tag --------- If you are tagged and set alight then you have to pass it onto someone else as quick as possible. To win, make sure you don't get tagged as long as the others. Complete MONKEY IMMOLATION in the Arcade Leagues to unlock this mode. Virus ----- Once a contender is tagged, then they stay on fire and go around trying to tag those who are not tagged. The last one that isn't tagged wins. Doing the BURNS DEPARTMENT level in the arcade league unlocks this mode. Regeneration ------------ Every contenders health keeps regenerating. You unlock this by completing CHASTITY CHASED in the Arcade league. Leech ----- Your health is constantly decreasing, so inflicting pain on others gives you health. Completing NIGHT SHIFT in the Arcade league unlocks this mode. Zones ----- Contenders have to goto each zone and tag it their colour. As long as they have their zones under control, they gain points. The zones can be just turned to other contenders control though by walking over it. Completing STATION STAND unlocks the Zones mode. Assault ------- Capture the enemy base. You are given several objectives that you must complete to take over the base. There are only three levels for assault, you unlock the Training Ground Assault mode by completing MEN IN GREY, you get the Hangar Assault mode by completing SUPERFLY LADY, and the Scrapyard Assault by completing NICE THREATS in the arcade leagues. Gladiator --------- Only the Gladiator can score. One person is the gladiator, and killing the gladiator means you get the gladiator status. Complete R-109 BETA in the arcade league to unlock this mode. Monkey Assistant ---------------- The contender that is ranked last every so often has monkeys beemed in to help them out. Complete STARSHIP WOOPERS in the arcade league to unlock this mode. ====== LEVELS ====== Once you have selected the game mode that you want to play, you will have to select a level that you want to play on. All levels are available in all modes bar Assault (with has only the Training Ground, Hangar and Scrapyard) and in Capture the Bag (with only The Mexican Mission, Ice Station, Training Ground, Hangar, Streets and Compound). These are the levels that you can choose from once you have unlocked them - Mexican Mission Ice Station Hospital Training Ground Aztec Scrapyard Nightclub Hangar Robot Factory Ufopia Chinese Chasm Streets Compound Site Circus More information can be seen about these levels in the section 08-C. ======== SETTINGS ======== Now that you have selected what level you wish to play on, you reach the settings menu. There are a wide range of settings to choose from, and here they are explained. Score Limit ----------- This will set the amount of score points the contenders have to reach to win the match. The choices are None, 3 points, 5 points, 10 points, 20 points, 50 points, and 100 points. Score Method ------------ This will decide the method if scoring, the choices are either Kills-Suicides, Kills-Losses, or Kills. Time Limit ---------- This adds a time limit to the play. If the score limit isn't reached within the time that is set here, then the contender with the highest score will win. Choose from either None, 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes or 1 hour. Bag Carrier Can Shoot --------------------- In Capture the Bag / Bag Tag only. Toggle either Yes or No to decide wether the contender with the bag can shoot. Teamplay -------- This decides Co-Op mode - select either Yes or No. Friendly Fire Damage -------------------- In Team modes only. Select either Yes or No to decide if when you shoot your team mates you injure them. Always Start With Gun --------------------- Toggle either Yes or No to decide if each player starts with a weapon (only weapon one on the list of weapons though). Display Radar ------------- Toggle either Yes or No to decide if you want the radar to be displayed during the match. One Shot Kill ------------- Select either Yes or No to decide that a single shot will kill instantly (like Licence to Kill in Goldeneye). Handicaps --------- Select either Yes or No to turn Handicaps on or off. Music ----- Select through the list of music that you want to play in the level. Note that 'Random' just plays the Astrolander music. Character Abilities ------------------- Select either Yes or No to decide if the different player abilities to take part (selecting no means that only the characters height and the players skill are involved, as their speed accuracy and stamina will all be the same). Powerups -------- Select either Yes or No to decide if you want powerups to be in the game or not. Weapon Set ---------- Press X on this to goto a new menu. The top of the screen shows the current weapon set, and the bottom shows what you can choose in the weapon sets. There are a number of pre-made sets that cannot be altered. Mapmaker is the set you created in the Mapmaker mode. There are 5 custom sets that you can create and customize yourself. Press X to add a weapon and O to remove the last one in the list. When you are finished, press back to go back to the normal settings menu. Bot Set ------- The left side of the screen shows the current bot set, and the right are a list of bots that you can choose from. There are a number of sets that are pre-made and cannot be altered. There are however 5 custom sets that you can create and customize yourself. When you have selected the bots on the list you can change some attributes. The coloured square represents the bot's team (either Red, Blue Yellow or Green). The number of stars decide the bots skill. 1 star is very poor, to 5 stars which is awesome. Lastly, the tick or cross will decide if the bot is atucally participating in the game or not. Go! --- When you are happy with the settings that you have choosen, then selecting Go! will start the game. These are much more fun though compared to the arcade levels in my opinion, and there are fewer challenges also. If at first you don't succeed, try again and again and again until you do. It's rare that you are gonna get good results first time. About the awards.. there are four different awards that you will can get. These are Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum (from the worst to best). Getting different awards means you sometimes unlock slightly more, but getting gold or platinum means you unlock everything that the level has to offer. Platinum awards are not required to get 100% in the game, but are an extra challenge to those who want to fully master Timesplitters 2, and in many cases are *incredibly* tough to obtain. Also please note that these strategies will earn you most if not all of the time a gold medal, and sometimes Platinum, so don't complain that most of these will not get you the platinum award. If you have any better strategies for any of these levels, then email them to me and I may include them in the FAQ, and you will be given full credit in due course. =========== GLASS SMASH =========== These challenges involve smashing glass in the fastest time possible. The first two are set in the Dam, and the third is set in the Notre Damn Cathedral. PANE IN THE NECK ---------------- Those Russian soldiers aren't that bright! Today's military training involves breaking all the glass in the siberian compound. Nikolai managed this in one minute flat. Beat his time or you'll be the laughing stock of the barracks for weeks! Platinum Requirements - 11.0 secs Gold Requirements - 18.0 secs Silver Requirements - 30.0 secs Bronze Requirements - 1 min 0.0 secs Playing as Lt. Frost Level - Siberia Dam Starting weapons - Soviet S47 Only using the grenades from the Soviet S47, you gotta smash all the windows in the level - remember that the grenade's explosion can take out multiple windows. A good way to get at least gold that isn't too challenging, is this - As you start, go forward and look towards the building to the north (has six windows, three on the top floor and three on the ground floor). Now as you run towards the stairs fire a grenade at the top of the building so it drops down and takes out all six windows. Take a left and go round the corner and pop a grenade into the building just here. Go ahead to another building ahead of you and fire a grenade into here also. Now go back and take the path that is in between the two buildings. Fire a grenade into that two story building that is now to the north east of you. You must fire it onto the top floor at the far right corner, and if done correctly will take out the one in the door and the three windows in the floor below. Then just walk on ahead and fire one through the door of the building ahead of you to the left. Volia! Done. If not all the windows are smashed, simply restart and do it again. This DEFINATLY does work, and you can get gold easily and platinum is also very possible (my record using this method is 7.7 seconds). BRICKING IT ----------- After Private Poorly's incident with a grenade yesterday, all ammunition has been confiscated until further notice. This is no excuse to miss training though, so you'll have to improvise! Platinum Requirements - 28.0 secs Gold Requirements - 35 secs Silver Requirements - 45 secs Bronze Requirements - 1 min 30.0 secs Playing as Lt. Frost Level - Sibera Dam Starting weapons - Brick This is the same place as before and you still have to smash windows, but this time using bricks. Bricks can only take out one or two windows at a time though. This is how to get a gold award.. Go forward, up the steps, left then round the corner. Take out the first two windows, then throw a brick through the last window so it takes out the one on the door also. Go to the building just next to it and do exactly the same. Now go down the path that is in between the buildings to the building at the far end, and smash all the windows there. Go to the double floored building next to here, take out the bottom three from the outside, then go round and take the other three by the stairs. Go up the stairs, take out the one in the door to your left and then go into this room. Take out the three here also. This should get you gold no problem, but done really quick will nab you platinum. STAIN REMOVAL ------------- The life of a zombie would be far more pleasant if it were not for the Hunchback spoiling the Wednesday morning sacrifices. Get your own back on him, and knock out as many stained glass windows as you can within the time limit. Platinum Requirements - 32 panes and 47.0 secs Gold Requirements - 32 panes Silver Requirements - 28 panes Bronze Requirements - 23 panes Playing as Undead Priest Level - Church Starting weapons - Grenade launcher In this challenge you got to take out all the stain glass windows in the church. Only use the secondary fire, as the flaming grenades go further than the normal ones do (and look somewhat nicer). Take out the three on your left, then strife right and fire at the ones above opposite you. When you reach the end, take out the square window at the top, the four next to it, then the three below them. Now go left of the column ahead of you and take out the far window that was to the left of the three you just shot at. Turn around and go as far left as you can so you can get the one that was behind you. Go back to where you started and strife left down the other side, while taking out the ones opposite as you go. When you stop, shoot the square window at the top, the four to the left of it and then the three below them. * * * * * * * * ================= BEHEAD THE UNDEAD ================= This is about beheading zombies to get points, and you have to stay alive for the longest time possible. The zombies will approach in waves and after you have cleared a wave you get points added to you total. You also have a small area that you have to stick to, and if you leave for too long you fail the challenge. FIGHT OFF THE LIVING DEAD ------------------------- Another of Khallos' attempts to take over the world has failed at the hands of Harry Tipper. As usual Khallos has fled the scene, leaving a henchman to deal with the consequences (lots of zombies in this case). See how long you can keep him alive for... Platinum Requirements - 145000 Gold Requirements - 20000 Silver Requirements - 15000 Bronze Requirements - 10000 Playing as Henchman Level - Compound Starting weapons - Shotgun This challenge involves killing plenty of zombies and staying alive as long as possible. The zombies will come in waves; kill all the zombies within a wave to get points, and getting unhurt during that earns you bonus points. To kill a zombie, shoot its head off (75 points) and shooting its arms will also gain you extra points (25 points each) although headshots are the order of the day here. You also cannot leave this small area, so don't bother trying going through the doorways or up the stairs otherwise you might fail. NEVER get yourself surrounded by zombies, otherwise your health will get a serious decreasing. Take em on one at a time if you can, but if there is loads (and there will be in the later waves) strife around the group taking shots. Also this way the zombies will punch each others heads off by accident, which is good as you will survive longer and you be getting points at the end of the wave regardless. It's not really that tough, but just requires a lot of patience. Gold is a piece of cake, but getting Platinum will take you *ages*, so make sure you have some spare time before attempting it. SERGIO'S LAST STAND ------------------- The last act performed tonight, this will star our very own Sergio the Strongman. We feel privileged to welcome our guests, a time travelling group of flaming zombies. Ladies and gentlemen, put your hands together for Sergio's Last Stand! Platinum Requirements - 35000 Gold Requirements - 25000 Silver Requirements - 15000 Bronze Requirements - 5000 Playing as Sergio Level - Circus Tent Starting weapons - Tactical 12-Gauge Flaming zombies will approach you for around the sides of the arena, of which you have to shoot. Stay more or less in the middle as going onto the outsides starts a warning (which leads to failure). The further you go in the swarms the more arrive from all sides of the arena. Use the Tactical 12-Gauge only, and remember to restock on ammo regularly. A good reloading tip is when its reloading, switch weapon and then back to the Tactical 12-Gauge, and it will be automatically reloaded - this will help save time. To kill a zombie, shoot its head off (75 points) and shooting its arms will also gain you extra points (25 points each) although headshots are the order of the day here, like the last challenge. NEVER get yourself surrounded by zombies, otherwise your health will get a serious decreasing, and you will get set alight. If you do get set on fire, go to one of the tent poles at the sides of the area and collect the fire extinguisher. Aim down as far as you can and you should get put out (although it can sometimes take a while). Take em on one at a time if you can, but if there is loads (and there will be in the later waves) strife around the group taking shots. Also this way the zombies will punch each others heads off by accident, which is good as you will survive longer and you will be getting points at the end of the wave regardless. Another point is to avoid the flaming bodies as you can get set alight by stepping on them, and also don't bother trying to put out the zombies. Bronze and silver are easy enough, but the higher awards are much tougher. DAY OF THE DAMNED ----------------- It looks rather like curiosity got the better of Nikolai. Gunshots or no gunshots, he'd have been better off steering clear of the research centre altogether, and he should definitely have taken his gun. Keep him alive for as long as you can, using just his fists! Platinum Requirements - 25000 Gold Requirements - 20000 Silver Requirements - 15000 Bronze Requirements - 10000 Playing as Nikolai Level - Sibera Starting weapons - Unarmed Another zombie challenge where you have to behead the zombies by the means of your fists. You get 100 points per beheading, and leaving the cage like area starts a countdown. NEVER get yourself surrounded by zombies, otherwise your health will get a serious decreasing. Take em on one at a time if you can, but if there is loads (and there will be in the later waves) strife around the group taking shots. Also this way the zombies will punch each others heads off by accident, which is good as you will survive longer and you be getting points at the end of the wave regardless. All the medals are not much of a challenge here. * * * * * * * * ============ INFILTRATION ============ These are stealth based levels, where you must reach your goal within the time limit. Also you start with 1000 points, and if a camera or guard spots you your points get deducted. SILENT BUT DEADLY ----------------- Even highly dangerous mercenaries like Gregor Lenko need to use stealth when outnumbered. Destroy the radar and enter the dam, without being detected by any of the Russian guards. Platinum Requirements - 1000 and 39.9 secs Gold Requirements - 1000 Silver Requirements - 700 Bronze Requirements - 0 Playing as Nikolai Level - Sibera Starting weapons - Unarmed If you have played the Sibera level in Story mode, you should know what to do. Go forward and collect the sniper rifle and silenced pistol, and aim the sniper at the guard at the balcony ahead. Kill him, then take out the camera just right of him by shooting the tip of it. Now walk out and stand where the crates are and kill the bloke that is walking towards you just ahead. Now strife to the left and look between the buildings to see a lone female guard just standing there. Shoot her. Now go right to the gap in the fence, take a left and follow the fence to end where the stairs are. Turn the corner and you will notice a guard that is turned away further down (if you have got here with some reasonable speed then this guard is turned away and will be for a while). Shoot him with the sniper rifle, and from now on you don't need to use it. Go up the metal stairs here and into the room on the left and activate the switch on the panel in front. This opens the door to the dam. Turn round, back through the door and take a left, over the planks of wood ahead and down the hole. Collect the mines behind, out the door, right, down the path and round the stairs. Using the aim, aim up as far as you can and throw a mine onto the roof in the radar dish area. Now go left, down the steps and through the door (make sure that the dish has been destroyed before going and completing this challenge, otherwise you will fail). TROUBLE AT THE DOCKS -------------------- It's 3 a.m. and a new shipment has just arrived by barge, so there are goons crawling over the docks! If you want to get through the Falucci Bros. Warehouse alive, particular care will be needed. Platinum Requirements - 1000 and 25.0 secs Gold Requirements - 1000 Silver Requirements - 700 Bronze Requirements - 0 Playing as Lady Jane Level - Chicago Starting weapons - Silenced Luger Go right, across the walkway and drop down the ladder. Go round the left box and kill the guard ahead quickly. Go to the second box ahead and take a right, and there is a walkway ahead with a guard walking down to the left. Kill him, go right and go across the ramp when you get to it and up the stairs. Go to the corner and wait here and kill the guard when he comes past. Go up the stairs. At the top look through the window, and there are two guards in the below area. Look down to the right and wait until a guard appears walking around - kill him. Then look straight across at the guard standing below. Dispose of him, then go right down the corridor. Round the corner, cap the guard, go down the steps, right, to the corner, then through the doorway. Complete. *QUICKER WALKTHROUGH* This is quicker and will get you a platinum, but is slightly tougher and so is easier to get spotted. Start and go right, across the walkway then down the ladder. Go left and kill the guard by either punching his back or a bullet in the back of the head. Now go right to the ramp onto that walkway, then up the stairs. Turn right and make sure the guard is heading away from you then go up the stairs. At the top keep going and around the corner at the top of the stairs is a guard, shoot with the silenced pistol. Now go down the stairs and right, and there is a guard walking away from you. Punch him in the back for a silent kill. Go to the corner then through the doorway to complete this quickly. ESCAPE FROM NEO TOKYO --------------------- It's late past curfew, and Chastity Detroit has ended up stuck in a rough district of NeoTokyo. If the police find her, she'll spend the night in a cell, so get her out without being spotted! The temporal uplink should come in handy here. Platinum Requirements - 1000 and 20.0 secs Gold Requirements - 1000 Silver Requirements - 700 Bronze Requirements - 0 Playing as Chastity Level - Neo Tokyo Starting weapons - Temporal Uplink Run forward and go left of the first camera, then right across the road until you reach the wall. Wait here until the bright pink camera is turned away then run across to underneath it. Now go into the glass window on the left, and remain here until the police vehicle has gone past. When it has, run out (avoiding the camera opposite) and carry on going to under the camera on the corner of the street. Turn right, and when the camera opposite is turned away run along the wall, under the next camera to the dark tunnel; challenge complete! * * * * * * * * ============ BANANA CHOMP ============ These are all based in the Aztec level where you have to collect bananas that are spread around. I have put ASCII maps for the first and last one and a walkthrough to each challenge too. GONE BANANAS ------------ Jojo the Monkey has been causing mischief around the village, and the villagers have had enough. To teach him a lesson they've thrown his bananas away. Help him get them back! Platinum Requirements - 45.0 secs Gold Requirements - 55.0 secs Silver Requirements - 1 mins 0.0 secs Bronze Requirements - 1 mins 30.0 secs Playing as Monkey Level - Aztec Starting weapons - Teminal Uplink Follow these steps and collect the bananas as you go (on the terminal uplink the bananas are in yellow). At the end is an ASCII diagram of the aztec level with the bananas numbered in order to be collected. Go ahead up the stairs, and follow the linear path until you reach the area with the columns. Go left to the corner, round the column, collect the three in front of you, round the column again and collect the two here. Head through the stone archway. Collect the one here, then up the stone ramp in the corner, turn around and up the steps. After you collected the one of the top of the ledge, jump off and through the doorway to the left. Collect the banana left of here, then turn around and go down the path until the stone doorway with the banana in front of it. Through the doorway just next to here, collect the three bananas and then the lone banana in the corner of the open area. Down the path to the left and then right through the doorway to a new area. Go right to the little indent to collect the banana here, back out, right round the corner, by the short set of steps, to the mound, left round the corner for another two. Retreat to the mound and go down the path you haven't been down yet. Follow the winding road, then at the open area go right then at the end there is two both left and right in the indented like section. Retreat and go over the log, left, then collect the one on the left round the column (so you collect the one in the corner as you go) then straight on ahead to the ditch, follow it round and run ahead to collect the final banana by the stone door. Repeat this quickly to get a gold easily. You just have to dodge them - try not to get surrounded by them. PLAYING WITH FIRE ----------------- Jojo shot The Wood Golem with a flaming crossbow bolt. The Golem's not got long left, but he's intent on getting his own back by eating as many of Jojo's bananas as possible. Go for the burn, Woody! Platinum Requirements - 24 bananas and one second left Gold Requirements - 24 bananas Silver Requirements - 22 bananas Bronze Requirements - 18 bananas Playing as Wood Golem Level - Aztec Starting weapons - Teminal Uplink You have to get as many bananas as you can before the time runs out - you don't need to get every banana in the level, so just follow this walkthrough to get 24 bananas (which is platinum, as you cannot get gold here ^_^). Get the one to the right, but carry on round the corner and then left through the doorway. Go collect the one just ahead then go right into the column area. Collect all the bananas here and proceed down the long linear path. At the steps go round the corner and into the doorway thats left, get the one of the right in the indent, then back out, right, up steps, then right down the winding path. At the next open area, collect the four ahead of you then down the path next to where you entered this open area for the last three. If you missed some, then go right and there is an extra two on the left and right. You should have gotten 24 bananas with a few seconds to spare, meaning you are a platinum man. !!!NOTE!!! If you get a gold here, then make sure it doesn't save. If you save you will not be able to get a Platinum. This is a glitch, so make sure you get all 24 bananas with at least a second left on the clock. If all that confused you, heres an ASCII map of the area. There is a mixture of 'baddies' that you shoot to add points to you total, and 'goodies' that if shot will deduct points from your total (it is fairly easy to tell them apart). They all have a time limit to abide by too. TAKE 'EM DOWN ------------- Uh oh! The small town of Little Prospect is under siege by some vicious cardboard figures, and it looks like they have no intention of leaving. Take 'em down! Platinum Requirements - 4000 Gold Requirements - 3500 Silver Requirements - 2500 Bronze Requirements - 1500 Playing as Elijah Jones Level - Wild West Starting weapons - Garrett Revolver Very simple.. shoot the cardboard cut-outs of the baddies. Shooting them in the middle will get you 100 points, and then 75 and 25 points the further out the edge you shoot. Hitting innocent people boards deducts 100 points where ever you shoot them. Its a really easy challenge this, just take you time and aim for the center of each board. You have more that enough time, and when you reach the end and have some time to spare then go back and look for other boards that you have missed. Note that when you start the board directly ahead of you far away disappears if you don't shoot it fast enough, so take care of that one first. Bronze and Silver is cakewalk, and Gold just requires a lot of shots to the center of the boards. FALL OUT -------- After turning snitch on Big Tony, it seems poor Marco didn't have his escape route planned. Tony's not the brightest guy though, and he's sent some cardboard cut-outs after Marco. Help Marco through Chicago without killing any old ladies... Platinum Requirements - 1700 Gold Requirements - 1650 Silver Requirements - 1500 Bronze Requirements - 1200 Playing as Marco the Snitch Level - Chicago Starting weapons - Lugar Pistol Another fairly easy challenge. Only shoot the baddies (100 points for where ever you shoot them) and remember not to shoot the civilians (100 points deducted from your score). You have to kill that baddies quick otherwise your points will start decreasing slowly. You will hear either a 'ker-ching' sound or a moving sound. You will know anyways when you play. The following walkthrough will tell of the boards to shoot - if some boards are not mentioned, then don't shoot it. :P Getting Platinum involves shooting all the baddies boards and having NO points deducted at all. And.. go! Go around the box and shoot the one that appears, then quickly shoot the one after the car. Another appears from top of the box ahead. Now go ahead around the two crates and the car and one slides at the wall from behind a crate. Go right, and one appears above the left row of boxes. Go to the car on the right and go down the left of it for one to appear just ahead, then go round the right side of the car for another one by the post. Round the corner and another comes from the left box. Proceed to the stall just ahead. Two boards will pop up, only shoot the left one. Go to the left corner now where one will come out. Round the corner and a baddie board will appear from both sides of the set of boxes ahead (so go to the left side, then back round and to the right side). Look at the large doors ahead, and aim at the middle at the bottom, at move forward. The doors will fall off and so shoot to get the baddie in the middle here. Round the corner and two boards appear; shoot the one behind the civilian (it comes from the car to the left). Carry on to the next car. Two appear from the top, shoot the left one. Approach the front for another to appear, then go round the back to the other side, where the last one appears just ahead. Simply walk on ahead to complete this challenge. PICK YER PIECE -------------- A lawman needs a gun he can rely on. Elijah's gone down to the compound to test the performance of some firearms. Shoot as many cut-outs as you can, but remember, accuracy will also improve your score. Platinum Requirements - 1250 Gold Requirements - 1000 Silver Requirements - 875 Bronze Requirements - 700 Playing as Elijah Jones Level - Compound Starting weapons - Sniper Rifle Another fairly simple and easy level. Shoot any of the boards that pop up in the area that is through the window. Shooting them in the center will earn you 100 points, and then 75 and 25 the further away from the center you hit. Keep unzoomed and only zoom in when a board appears and be quick in shooting it as it will disappear quickly. Replay this level several times to get a good idea of where abouts the boards appear and at what times to get higher scores. * * * * * * * * ============================= TIMESPLITTERS 'STORY' CLASSIC ============================= These are story like levels and are based on the original TimeSplitters story levels (well I think they are, and may well be repeats, as I never played the first TimeSplitters). These are incredibly hard and involve a lot of dodging and keeping on the move. You must go to collect an item in the level, then go back to where you start (where are portal is also located) to complete the level. When you collect the item, TimeSplitters and more baddies that were in the level crop up to make sure you don't make it to the portal. This also involves luck and requires many attempts to succeed. BADASS BUSPASS IMPASSE ---------------------- Badass Cyborg is having one of those days. First of all he loses his buspass and now he's realised that his spare brain is on the other side of town. It's not going to be easy going to get it back on foot. Especially when Special Forces have been deployed... again! Platinum Requirements - 45.0 secs Gold Requirements - 1 mins 30.0 secs Silver Requirements - 3 mins 0.0 secs Bronze Requirements - 5 mins 0.0 secs Playing as Badass Cyborg Level - Streets Starting weapons - Sniper Rifle / Silenced Pistol Just keep on running throughout this challenge. If you manage to get a Soviet S47, then shoot people quickly as you go but keep on the move. As you start, change your weapon to the silenced pistol and shoot the guy to our right in the head. Go down the street, and try and headshot the guy round this corner to collect the Soviet S47 that he leaves behind. This will make your job easier. Follow the main road, round the corner, and fire a grenade towards the corner (under the overhead bridge like area). Run round this corner, and halfway up this street in the right is a stairwell - go into it (before hand fire a grenade at the group of people ahead). Go up the stairs and towards the next set of stairs, where at the bottom is a guard with a Tactical 12-Gauge. Kill him and equip it. Out the stairwell and to your left is the brain, the item you have to collect. Grab it and now make your way to the portal (where you started the level) by going back the same way you came (through the stair wells etc). More guards and even Timesplitters will now hinder your progress. Be sure to use the Tactical 12-Gauges secondary fire for a quick kill to those on your way. Just keep running and don't stop, dodge and fire the odd shot now and then. With a bit of luck you will reach the portal. This can take several attempts but it can be done. BUT WHERE DO THE BATTERIES GO? ------------------------------ R107's therapist won't be pleased. Just when it looked like he was finally cured his will has crumbled. He's slipped on a dark lycra body suit and donned the crudely crayoned boxes once again. I - am - Robot! Platinum Requirements - 4 mins 30.0 secs Gold Requirements - 5 mins 30.0 secs Silver Requirements - 7 mins 0.0 secs Bronze Requirements - 10 mins 0.0 secs Playing as R One-Oh-Seven Level - Scrapyard Starting weapons - Plasma autorifle Like the other challenges in this set, always keep running and be on the move and shoot those that get in your way. Go ahead to the door on the other side of this area while ignoring the bots and dodging their fire. Go through the doors and take a left and follow the linear corridor. When you reach the bigger white and black coloured robots, shoot him with regular fire and pick up the plasma autorifle he leaves behind for extra ammunition. Keep going and round the corner in a slightly more open area, kill the bots that approach and kill the bot that transformed from a bin (or whatever it was) using a mix of normal fire and sticky grenades. Collect the armour thats behind him and carry on down the corridor. At this spiralling ramp area, shoot the bots as you go and try not to stop. At the bottom might be another bin bot, but ignore regardless and go round the corner to another open area. Ahead is a gun on the wall, run forward a little and fire a sticky grenade its way, then take the first right and kill the bot with the minigun here. Equip it and put its secondary fire on. Go through the doorway that is to the right of the gun placement on the wall. Follow this corridor and be sure to pick up the armour that is on the left as you go. When you reach a room, there is a bot both sides of the doorway, another by the doorway on the right and a gun placement on the ceiling. Minigun the ones either side of the doorway then go right and shoot the bot with the minigun and collect the minigun he leaves behind for more ammo, and then go inside the doorway to avoid the gun on the ceiling gun placement. Look towards the room and some bots will come the way you came, so take care of them. Equip the plasma auto rifle and lob a sticky grenade at the ceiling gun, then carry on down the corridor (equip the minigun again at secondary fire). At the split go right then at the open area shoot some of the bots that teleport in and go up the steps to the right, and go to the left area and kill the bot here. Go back out down the steps and go down the right corridor. Another bin bot thing is here, so take care of that, and carry on and clear the bots that teleport in. Ahead is another bin bot and the battery is behind it, so destroy the bin bot, collect the battery and go back the way you came. The minigun will come handy here, as you can kill the bots and splitters in some speed. Be sure to strife left and right down the corridors to dodge. When you run out of minigun ammo, equip the plasma autorifle and carry on going. With luck you will reach the portal, and get at least gold (platinum isn't that tough on this level is you do it correctly). Phew! HIT ME BABY ONE MORGUE TIME --------------------------- It's autopsy turvy down at the hospital, the corpses just won't stay put and undead priests are roaming the corridors. Mr. Underwood can't believe his luck - he's brushed up his bowler hat and grabbed his trusty shotgun... Platinum Requirements - 1 mins 0.0 secs Gold Requirements - 2 mins 0.0 secs Silver Requirements - 4 mins 0.0 secs Bronze Requirements - 8 mins 0.0 secs Playing as Mr Underwood Level - Hospital Starting weapons - Shotgun An annoying level this, as you encounter quite a lot of zombies in small areas. Try to dodge them, otherwise headshots will do to clear them for good. Another thing is that one some runs some zombies or undead priests will not appear, so with some luck you will get one with less enemies than another run. When you encounter flaming zombies, avoid them at all costs and if you get set alight just restart, as there is no way you will be able to complete the challenge at that point. Go forward into the doorway thats left, and go straight down this corridor to the end. Round the corner, and go straight across this area to the doorway ahead. Alot of zombies will come through here, and I have found it best to go on the inside of the corner to best avoid them. At the next room, go straight ahead to the doorway opposite. Round the corner, and there is an undead priest around the corner, so mind him, keep going to the next room. Go through the doorway on the right, then left, and left again to a long room where sometimes flaming zombies are present. Go to the doorway directly ahead, and there is are stairs to your left and a flaming zombie at the top. Keep the wall to the right of the bottom of the stairs so that the zombie will fall off the stairs, and you can go up them safely. At the top at the corner is another undead priest, kill his ass quick, then round the corner to the doorway ahead (you may have to shoot these zombies as they get in the way). Kill another undead priest here, then through the doorway for a very tricky part. There is a large amount of both normal and flaming zombies here and you must goto the doorway directly opposite. Try to shoot the flaming zombies first and also the ones that get in your way. When you reach the doorway, take a left, kill the undead priest at the corner, go round and collect the item. Jump off the ledge and then turn around, and go down the corridor to the right, and then to the portal at the open area at the end. * * * * * * * * ================ MONKEYING AROUND ================ The last set of challenges all involve monkeys in one way or another. These are pretty comical and fun to a degree, but are very hard to get higher awards on. SIMIAN SHOOTOUT --------------- An unscrupulous merchant is trying to flood the market with imitation clay monkeys. Use your trusty shotgun to dust those cheap replicas and put him out of business! Platinum Requirements - 2000 Gold Requirements - 1800 Silver Requirements - 1000 Bronze Requirements - 600 Playing as Mikey Two guns Level - Mexican Mission Starting weapons - Tactical 12-Gauge The best way to get lots of hits is the stand in front of the fountain and looking up, as all the monkeys will fly past here. You can use the secondary fire, but I have found that single normal shots tend to be accurate (you have unlimited ammo too, so don't be afraid to go crazy). Shoot monkeys consectialy to get combos and thus more points added to your total. MONKEY MAYHEM ------------- Some evil circus clowns have enslaved the performing monkeys and forced them to carry their watermelons! Free the monkeys by shooting the watermelons out of their paws, but aim carefully... Platinum Requirements - 3000 Gold Requirements - 2500 Silver Requirements - 1500 Bronze Requirements - 1000 Playing as Ring Mistress Level - Circus Starting weapons - Vintage Rifle Here you have to shoot the watermelons off the monkeys heads. Shooting one gets you 50 points, and getting them consectualy gets you a combo and thus more points. Shooting a monkey will deduct 75 points from your score. An easy way to get silver or gold is to aim at a point where all the watermelons pass by, so you just aim there and shoot as they come past. To find this point start, go as forward and as left as you can so you are in the corner. Now at the left doorway ahead, aim just into the board that's left of it. Its some where like here (the X is the point)- ________ ||----|| || || || || -------------------| || || X | || || It is somewhere at that point. You may to adjust it a little. I also recommend to zoom out slightly so you can see the monkeys coming. The order and number of the monkeys is random, sometimes they are very far apart so there is little chance for combos, and other attempts there are loads together. You may have to replay it several times to get a decent run where you can get gold. DAM BURSTERS ------------ The Russian Mafia objects to the building of the Siberian Dam, and are trying to destroy it through the tactical use of exploding monkeys. It's up to you to save the villages downstream by blowing up the monkeys before they reach the dam! Platinum Requirements - 9000 Gold Requirements - 8000 Silver Requirements - 6000 Bronze Requirements - 4000 Playing as Sgt Shock Level - Sibera Dam Starting weapons - Minigun You have to shoot the monkeys as they approach the dam. Like the others, shooting the monkeys consectaly will earn you combos and thus more points. You get deducted 30 points when a monkey hits the dam. Stick your minigun on secondary fire, but only try to fire in short bursts so it doesn't overheat quickly. I recommend strifing left and right and firing. When none are coming, fire into the distance on the chance that you might hit them as they are coming. This is a very tough challenge, as even bronze is tough and you will be in luck to get a gold. WELL DONE! You can create a map for multiplayer or a story based level. To get started, select the Mapmaker from the main menu. You will be then brought to the mapmaker start up screen. Here you have three different options; Edit/Create New Map, Load Map, or Play Map. If you wish to create a new map, then select 'Edit/Create New Map' and then goto the next part within this section for more details. If you want to edit or play a map that you have created, then you will have to load it before hand by selecting the 'Load Map' option. ==== MODE ==== When you create a new map, you are greeted with this selection. You have to choose between Beginner or Advanced. Beginner -------- Basic multiplayer only maps can be created here. Only the Tile, Item and Light selections are available. I would only recommend this for total beginners, but Advanced is the same but with more modes. Advanced -------- This is the full mapmaker with all the selections present. These are Tile, Item, Light, Story Enemies, and Game Logic. Also if you cannot place larger items in the map when you haven't got enough memory. 5 - Selection ------------- These are selection of menus you can access, where you can add a matter of different things to the map. This are explained in detail at the 'Selection' section (after the Menu). 6 - Floors ---------- This is only present in the Advanced mode of the mapmaker. This shows all the floors in a basic diagram, and what floor you are currently working on. ==== MENU ==== Pressing start when you are viewing the editor will bring you to the editor menu, where you can edit several options to make your map a little more customised. Map Settings ------------ Tile Set - Choose from Victorian, Alien, Virtual, and Industrial tile sets. According to what you choose changes the tiles appearance during gameplay, and also the music (if you put it on recommended). You can change this at any time. Weapon Set - Selects what weapon set you want to have in your level - this is for the preview and story modes only as when you play the map normally before hand in the settings you can decide what weapons you want to use. Bot Set - Selects what bot set you want to have in your level - this is for the preview as when you play the map normally you can change what bots will be in the level, and in Story you can have a different set altogether. Music - Selects what music you want playing in your map. Edit Map - Here you can change the description for the map. Press X to add Description a letter, O to delete a letter, Square to cancel ALL that you have written and go back to the Map settings sub-menu, and L and R switch between the letters in caps, non caps and numbers. Press END when you are finished. This text will appear when you choose the map. Briefing - Here you can change the briefing for the map. Press X to add a letter, O to delete a letter, Square to cancel ALL that you have written and go back to the Map settings sub-menu, and L and R switch between the letters in caps, non caps and numbers. Press END when you are finished. This text will appear in the briefing when you press Start. Editor Settings --------------- Here you can switch between Advanced and Beginner modes. WARNING that changing the mode will erase the map that you are currently working on, so be sure to save the map before switching modes. Preview Map ----------- When you have created some map and you want to preview it, selecting this allows you to. There are several preview options, Mapmaker will allow to preview it at any time, and others require those items (eg. Deathmatch needs several starting points, Zones needs some zones, Bag Tag requires a bag etc etc). Undo Last Change ---------------- Simply undos the last operation that you have just done. Centre Map ---------- Centres the screen to where the map is located on the grid. Clear Map --------- Erases the map that you are currently working on. Be sure to save the map before clearing it if you want to keep it! Load Map -------- Loads a saved map from the memory card, or one of the sampled ones that are already present. Save Map -------- Saves the current map that you are working on. It is advised that you save it regularly, in case it crashes, or there is a power cut in your area, or your PS2 implodes etc etc. Help ---- Displays the mapmaker controls. Quit Mapmaker ------------- Quits the mapmaker editor and returns you to the main menu. Be sure to save your map if you want to keep it before selecting this option. ========= SELECTION ========= This is at the top of the editor screen, and you can switch between them with the D-Pad, and to take you to the Selection menu you press X is an empty place on the grid. Tile ---- These are the rooms and corridors that you can add to the map and make up your level. There are 30 pieces to choose from, and are a range of sizes and shapes. The details inside them, such as walls and panels are different according to what tile set that you are using. When piecing your level together, the red lines match together and the longer blue lines match together. Item ---- These are the items you can place into your map. These all take up space in the memory, so remember not to go over the top with them. Start Points - The only item here is 'Start All'. This is where all the contenders spawn from. If its a story level only one is needed then you need just the one, but you need multiple ones for a multiplayer map so the contenders all spawn from different points. You can have just one and they all spawn from that for comedy value though. Guns - There is gun 1 to 5, and is according to the weapon set. Selecting one of the guns takes you to the grid to place it somewhere. Ammo - There is ammo 1 to 5, and is according to the weapon set. Selecting one of the ammo takes you to the grid to place it somewhere. Health N' Armour - There is two types of health and armour here, hi and lo. Hi restores the full amount, whereas Lo restores half the amount. Powerups - You can insert four different powerups for the contenders to use. Cloak makes the contender invisible for a short period of time, Speed increases the contenders movement, Shrink reduces the characters size and Max Damage increases the contenders damage that he/she/it inflicts on others. Teleports - Place one of them at one point and another of the same colour at a different point. You have five colours to choose from; Red, Green, Blue, Yellow and Cyan. Bags N' Bases ------------- These are for multiplayer maps in the form of Team deathmatch, Capture the Bag or Bag Tag. Bag Base - The two colours, red and blue are both needed for a capture the bag game. They act as when the teams bag is and where you bring you bag to. Bag (Bag Tag) - Required for a bag tag game, this is the initial point for where the bag rests. Start Team - These are required for team based games, eg. Team Deathmatch and capture the bag. This is where the team members start at. Objects ------- These are objects that you can place into your map. Crate - Places a crate on the map. This can be used for scenery. Gun Turret - Places a gun turret on the map. To use it, press action, to fire bullets use the normal fire and for missiles use the secondary fire. Pressing action again dismounts. Note that the computer controlled contenders will not use these for some reason. At all. Auto Gun (Story) - These are only for story mode. You place it on the map and when you are spotted, you are fired at. Keys ---- There are four different keycards, red, blue, yellow and green. These are used to unlock the corresponding coloured door, and is only for story mode. Note that one keycard can unlock more than one of the same coloured door. How can you place doors of different colours? See after 'Zones' at 'Windows and Doors'. Zones ----- These are required for a zones map. You place the more of these the better (well it depends on the map). Windows and Doors ----------------- This is NOT on the selection menu, but you need to have item selected at the top when on the grid to place windows and doors. You have to be in the editor at the grid, and you can only place them on the red lines of the tiles. Put the curser over the red line and look in the bottom left corner for the controls guide and its there. Not that you can have different doors, so pressing door again will change the colour - in the map you will then need a keycard of the same colour to unlock it. Note that one keycard can unlock more than one of the same coloured door. NOTE THAT TOO MANY WINDOWS AND DOORS MAKES THE GAME FREEZE. Only when tested, it just freezes.. perhaps one of the games worst glitches. So before testing, Save, then if it freezes, remove some windows are doors and retry. If freezes after about 30 seconds to a minutes play or something. Light ----- On the left are the range of colours, and on the right is the light parameters. You can edit the colours by pressing edit (O) and pressing triangle to edit / spread. Pressing the 'Reset Palette' resets the pallet (yes really) to how it was. Once you have choose your colour, move onto the light parameters. Here are the different parameters explained... Fixed is where the light is always on. Flicker is where the light flickers. Switch turns the light on, then off, then on again, then off etc. Pulse is where the light dims on and off over and over. The circle below this is for timing lights, so that you can have lights next to each other with the same colour, speed and parameters, but have them going at time times (Switch is good with this). The circle has 12 segments to fill so they can change at different times. Pressing it with you curser will change the circle for a different timing. Story enemies ------------- This is for story only (as the title suggests). There are upto 10 enemies that you can include in your map with a range of options that you can assign to all of them. Selecting an enemy with your curser will open a new menu where you can configure it up - Name - Name the enemy. Enemy - Pressing left and right changed the enemies type. You can only use enemies once you have unlocked them in either story, arcade or challenge modes. There are different in each way so choose wisely. Gun - Pressing left and right will change the type of gun the enemy carries. They are all unlocked from the start bar the brick, which you unlock in the challenge mode. Type - This is what the enemy will do. Here are all the types explained.. Unused - This will mean that the enemy is not being used at all in the map. Unused is the default setting. Stationary - This means that enemy will remain stationary in one place (standing still). The enemy will move once you have been spotted. Patrol - You can set the enemy to follow a set route. Once this is selected, on the other menu is a bar with flags. Selecting a flag will take to the map so you can place it somewhere, then you can place more flags so the enemy will goto that. Once you are finished with the positioning, then the white box at the end will decide if you want the enemy to do in a repeated path (1-2-3-4-5-1-2-3-4-5 etc) or back and forth (1-2-3-4-5-4-3-2-1 etc). Spawn & Attack - This will set up a point for the enemy to spawn from. You can alter the maximum amount of enemies that will spawn from this point, and how often it spawns. Also, you can View/Edit trigger conditions with this. Spawn & Wait - This will set up a point for the enemy to spawn from. You can alter the maximum amount of enemies that will spawn from this point, and how often it spawns. Also, you can View/Edit trigger conditions with this. Once you have configured the enemy, select Done and a 'Place' icon will appear by the enemy. Clicking this icon will allow you to place the enemy on your map. Note that this is for all types bar Unused and Patrol. Game Logic ---------- As this is perhaps the most complex thing about the mapmaker it gets its very own section. And that's next. And aside from that, the Selection part is covered. ========== GAME LOGIC ========== Game logic is only for story mode, and is where you can add objectives and do some cool stuff with your map. It's a little complex, but its explained as best as I can explain it, and with some handy examples at the end. Adding a New Logic ------------------ The 'Add New Logic' button appears when you have placed at least one tile on the grid. Selecting this brings you to another menu, where you add your triggers. A trigger is an action that will trigger the logic off. One trigger is already present - 'Game Started'. You can add new triggers by selecting 'New Trigger' where another menu appears. These are a range of triggers, such as objects, pickups, timers, enemy etc. You can add and select more than one trigger for your logic operation. When you have added the triggers, you have to select them to make them a part of the operation. Pressing X while highlighting it will select it, and this is shown by a white dot at both sides of the trigger. When you have selected the triggers, goto the item above Done. By pressing left or right, select either 'All of These' and 'Any of These'. 'These' are the triggers. All of These means that all the selected triggers must be activated for the logic to operate, and Any of These means that any of the triggers activited will operate the logic. Once you are done, press Done to go the next part of setting up the operation. The next window will have two options - New Action and Done. Depending on what triggers that you have just selected means you may or may not be able to select Done here. If you need to carry on the complete the operation, select New Action. Setting up the operation is the outcome of activating the triggers. It is very similar to setting up the triggers, there is a similar menu here and works just about the same. An example is if you selected triggers that any enemy spotted you, you can say here that the objective is failed. Fairly simple, no? Remember that you have many different combinations, so try experimenting to have more interesting and exciting story levels. After the section on how to delete logic operations are examples of how to do common logic operations. So if you are confused on the whole concept of logic operations, then follow them and see if it makes more sense. Deleting Logic Operations ------------------------- If you have created a logic operation that you don't want to use in your map, you can thankfully delete it. On the Game Logic screen, select your logic that you want to delete, and the summary will appear. Be sure to check that this is the logic you want to delete. Press triangle to delete, and triangle again to confirm the deletion. Examples -------- Here are some step by step examples for common logic operations. Note that the names of things might differ if you have different settings or have renamed the items. Tips and advice --------------- Here are some tips and advice for creating maps with the mapmaker. - Regularly save your work. - Using the number 4 tile will save space in your map, as it takes up less room compared to tiles similar to it. - Don't put in too many windows or doors, otherwise the game will freeze up. - If you want an example of the Logic Operations, then Load in the Mapmaker, and underneath the memory cards are SAMPLE MAPS, which are great examples that you can play around with and investigate how the triggers and logics work. - Copying levels from other games might be a fun Idea, although they will never turn out the same. I have tried some Goldeneye levels before, but they were too unlike the original for me to play properly. Good luck if you want to unlock them all. Once unlocked, you can find them under the "Cheats" section under "Options". Here then, a list of all the cheats available in TimeSplitters 2: Head Size --------- Choose from Small, Medium or Large. Has an obvious effect upon the head sizes of all characters in all game modes. Big Head: Beat 2401 Space Station on Normal Difficulty. Small Head: Beat Elite League / Sincerest Form of Flattery / Aztec the Dino Hunter with a silver medal or higher. Silly Hats ---------- Any normally hatless opponent will now don the hat selected. Upon unlocking your first hat, the "Silly Hat" option will also become available. Each hat can be unlocked as followed: - Viking: Beat Challenge / Infiltration / Silent But Deadly with Silver. - Pirate: Beat Challenge / Infiltration / Trouble at the Docks with Silver. - Big Ears: Beat Challenge / Infiltration / Escape from NeoTokyo with Silver. Paintball --------- Bullets go "splat" and leave pretty colours instead of bullet-holes. They're still just as damaging though. HOW TO UNLOCK: Complete all Challenges with at least a Bronze medal. Fat Characters -------------- Makes all the characters suffer from increased rotundity. Not that helpful as you become a bigger target for others to shoot at. Big Hands --------- You probably guessed this, but by turning this setting "on", you make every characters' hands ridiculously large. Slow Motion Deaths ------------------ In a homage to all things John Woo, any dying enemy will fall in a very slow and elaborate fashion. This "Anaconda Cart", as it is called, is a neat little mini-game that Free Radical included to enhance your 'Splitters experience that little bit more. While not in the same league as Free Radical's other gaming projects, (the TS series and Goldeneye, no less) Anaconda manages to be both entertaining and compulsive. In what can be only described as an "homage" to Snake, (a popular game on Nokia cell-phones) your job is to guide your snake around, collecting coloured 'X's to win points. Your snake is steered by pushing the left-analog stick left or right, and you can momentarily boost your speed by pressing the action button. Game over occurs if your snake bumps into itself or the outer walls of the maze. Catching the rare blue 'X's gives you a massive points boosts. The high score is 10,000 points. Can you beat it? "So how do I play it?" I hear you ask. Well, that's simple enough, just select the Temporal Uplink tool from your weapons and press the manual reload button. The camera will zoom in to the uplink's screen and you will be asked to choose which game to play. * * * * * * The second cart, AstroLander, is a retro space-ship game, not so dissimilar to Lunar Lander, a popular Atari coin-op game. It is found in Story / 2019 NeoTokyo when playing on Normal or Hard difficulty. The cart is in the left locker in the research facility, on the top floor of the building. Remember where you found the SBP90 rounds? You've got it. AstroLander is slightly more complex to play than Anaconda. The aim of the game is to land your craft gently on the white-coloured landing zone. Land anywhere else, hit the landing zone too hard or run out of fuel and it will be game over quicker than you can say "oh ****!" Again, pushing left and right on the left analog stick causes your ship to rotate it in the desired direction, while pressing the action button controls the ships thrust. If you manage to successfully land in the zone, you will be awarded points in the following three categories: Fuel Bonus - How much fuel there is remaining. Landing Speed Bonus - The slower you are travelling when you hit the pad, the higher the number of points you receive. Landing Accuracy - How close you are to the centre of the pad. There is a high score of 160,000 to beat, and believe me, that's no cakewalk. * * * * * * The final cart, RetroRacer, is loosely based on Micro Machines, a popular 2D racing game. From a top-down camera view, you must race three other cars around a particularly curvy circuit. As for the controls, you guessed it, the left analog stick steers while the action button controls the throttle. The cart can be found in Story / 2315 Robot Factory on Hard difficulty only. In the large bunker with two ramps, look under the ramps to find it (it's the one that doesn't have armour under it). The fastest lap time on RetroRacer is a sluggish 1:05:00. Up pops a screen with up to 57 awards that you have earned in your time playing TimeSplitters 2. Some of them are flattering, others less so, and there is no guaranteed method of unlocking them all. Sometimes you can do everything you would associate with the award, and still you will not receive the title. It's a bitch, but then so is life! Here, then, is a list of all fifty-eight awards, along with some suggested strategies to make winning them that little bit easier. Most Lethal =========== Simple, kill a shedload of enemies while staying relatively unharmed. Most Losses =========== Quite the opposite of the above. Lemming Award ============= Keep falling to your death from great heights, preferably using explosives to assist you. Most Professional ================= Get a respectable score for accuracy, kills and suchlike, but do not go too far or you will receive "Most Lethal" again. Tricky, this. Multi Kill ========== Kill multiple enemies in a single shot. Mines and rocket launchers would be a good idea, for somewhat obvious reasons. Longest Spree ============= Kill lots of enemies, one at a time, in a very short amount of time. Score around 10 frags per minute without dying to ensure success. Most Effective ============== Kill lots of enemies with as little ammo as possible. Either use powerful guns or carefully pick out head-shots. Pathetic Shot ============= Get a very low accuracy rating. The easiest way to do this is to whip out a minigun and fire it straight up. Maniac ====== Run straight towards anyone firing at you without opening fire until the last second. You need not bother with strafing or anything remotely sane when going for this. Brain Surgeon ============= Kill everyone with head shots. Requires good accuracy with the pistol or sniper rifle. Fists of Fury ============= Go wild with the punches, just run around with no weapon equipped and hold R2. Fists of Steel ============== Hmm, still not sure about this one. Seems to happen if you perform all of your kills with punches only. Glass Jaw ========= Get killed by punches a lot. Just start a deathmatch with no weapons and allow the other combatants to knock you senseless! Decapitator =========== Knock off heads with punches. Try your luck against some zombies unarmed for best results. Betrayer ======== Show complete disregard for the Geneva Convention and shoot you allies with impunity. Vandal ====== Free your inner rebel and smash lots of window, cameras and - uh - stuff! Hypochondriac ============= Guzzle health crates even if you do not really need them. AC-10 Award =========== Keep your armour fully topped up for the duration of a match. Harder than it sounds, believe me! Where's the Health? =================== Run around in close proximity to any health packs but without ever collecting it. Where's the Armour? =================== As above, but read health packs: armour packs. Hoarder ======= Collect absolutely every item you can see, rather than actually doing any killing. Sloth ===== Move as little as possible Most Frantic ============ Move as much as possible. Backpeddler =========== Run backwards all of the time. Sidestepper =========== Move laterally for the duration of the match. Ledgehopper =========== Like the Lemming award, but it is not necessary to die. Just go to the Chasm level and keep jumping from the connecting bridges. Most Sneaky =========== Kill your foes from behind at all times. Never engage in direct combat. Most Cowardly ============= Constantly run away from anyone who opens fire on you. Dodger ====== Try to dodge all incoming shots by strafing a lot. One of the harder awards to attain. Most Outgunned ============== Take on your opponents with significantly less fire power. For example, if your opponents all have rocket launchers, use a pistol or something. Best Equipped ============= Use only the most powerful weapons in combat. Weapons Expert ============== Perform kills with every weapon available to you. Porter ====== Take out any opponents who steal the bag in Capture the Bag mode. Bag Man ======= Bring the bag back to your base significantly more often than any of your team -mates. Ricochet King ============= Kill enemies with rebounds, for example using the Sci-fi Handgun and firing at the walls near any enemies. Underequipped ============= Don't collect any weapons for the duration of a deathmatch. Bully ===== Exclusively seek out and kill one particular opponent. Victim ====== Get killed by the same person again and again. Of course, this is much easier if there is another human opponent playing. Most Peaceful ============= Run around, but don't shoot anyone. Most Dishonourable ================== Shoot people in the back when they are engaged in a gunfight with another person. Most Manic ========== Constantly run around and open fire at everyone you see. Never let go of fire and rack up a huge kill rate. Cartographer ============ Explore every area of the map, looking around a lot. Another tricky one, is this. Shortest Innings ================ Get killed very shortly after spawning. Longest Innings =============== Stay alive longer than anyone else in a deathmatch. Survivor ======== Stay alive for a long time with only a sliver of health. Sniper ====== Perform all of your kills from long-distances, using scoped weapons. Most Flammable ============== Play a deathmatch with flamethrowers, and constantly spark yourself up. Persistence Award ================= Clock up over 50 hours of game play. Not hard, especially if you're going for Platinum on some of those bastard challenges! Traveller Award =============== Get the mileage total on your stats screen to a value greater than 500 miles! Trigger Happy Award =================== Total over 500,000 bullets fired in your user profile screen. Insomniac Award =============== Play for more than two hours past midnight. The easiest way to do this is to set the PS2's internal system clock to 11:50PM and play the game for two hours and ten minutes. I am unsure whether the total is cumulative or not, as I got the award in one sitting. Beheader Award ============== Notch up over 200 decapitations on the stats screen. Before you email either of us, make sure you read this section first. * * * * * * * * Q: I want to play my Mapmaker created map with my friends. How do I do this? A: First of all when the game starts up, select how many people are playing. Now go to Mapmaker on the main menu, then load your map. Now that you're map is in the memory, goto play map, and go on from there to select your settings. * * * * * * * * Q: Can you cheat in this game? I want to unlock (insert random crap here) but I cannot do it! It's too hard! :( A: There are cheats, but you can only use them on levels that you have completed. Sorry. Just try and get better at the game, practice more, and use the hints and the tips supplied throughout this FAQ. * * * * * * * * Q: In the Arcade mode the bots are diving around, is there anyway I can do this? A: Not at all. It would be a bit weird if you could anyways... be sure to take the computer controlled contenders crazy antics to you advantage by shooting them! They cannot retaliate mid animation, so them doing that is by far a good thing. :) * * * * * * * * Q: So TWO of you wrote this, huh? Who did what?
