The stones came to life and began to breathe

In Romania, strange stone creatures called Trovants were
discovered. Their general appearance makes them look like
ordinary stones, but this is a misconception. It is believed
that they originated on the Earth about 6 million years ago,

These creatures can grow from pebble size and stretch over
10 meters, although this process is extremely time-consuming
and takes about 1000 years for a 4-5 cm settling per year. It is
known that the trovants move at an average speed of 2.5 mm
for two weeks. These unusual formations have caused quite a
stir in the scientific community, so the researchers "dissected"
them to try to unravel the mystery. Upon opening the creatures,
scientists discovered round rings, very similar to those found
on tree stumps. These rings were then used to determine the
age of the Trovants, as if they were trees. After careful analysis
of their mysterious characteristics, the misplaced stones were
recognized as inorganic life forms. Their composition was
found to contain "cemented sand" and mineral salts, their shell
is as strong and tough as any other stone. Researchers say their
growth is due to the minerals that the stones absorb from the
rainwater. Whenever they are exposed to heavy rain showers,
they combine minerals with the chemicals present inside,
further facilitating a reaction that puts pressure from the core
on the outside of the shell, allowing for periodic growth. 
Scientists are convinced that these stone creatures can reproduce
and even breathe. One "breath" takes from 2 days to 3 weeks.
The "living stones," as they were called, even have strange
pulses that can be detected with supersensitive equipment. 
Due to the multitude of unexplained features, some scientists
tend to think that Trovants are silicon life forms with primitive
consciousness.
