Uganda Ebola outbreak rises to 75 confirmed cases

Just a few days after the Uganda Ministry of Health (MOH) said
the Ebola outbreak is coming under control, the latest update
from the MOH show the cumulative confirmed cases have risen
to 75, including 28 deaths.
Today, Minister of Health, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero tweeted:
Two more contacts to the Kassanda case, who are quarantined in
Mulago Isolation facility, tested positive for Ebola yesterday 22nd
October. They have been transfered to the Entebbe ETU.
This brings the total number of Ebola cases in Kampala to 5.
Kampala is the capital and largest city of Uganda with a population
of 1.7 million people in the city proper and 6.7 million people in
the metro area.
On 20 September 2022, Uganda health authorities declared an
outbreak of Ebola disease, caused by Sudan virus, following
laboratory confirmation of a patient from a village in Madudu
sub-county, Mubende district, central Uganda.
Uganda has reported four Sudan Virus Disease (SVD) outbreaks,
in 2000, 2011 and 2012 (two outbreaks). Uganda also reported
a Bundibugyo virus disease outbreak in 2007 and an Ebola virus
disease outbreak in 2019.
