UPGRADE/INSTALLATION NOTE: To ensure that keyboard mapping works correctly, you need to copy the "Comet keyboard-No Diacritics" keyboard layout into your System. This resource has changed in order to avoid a bug which sometimes occurs when Comet is used in conjunction with Word and Excel. Comet is a full-featured Macintosh Terminal Emulator offering up to 16 windows with fast color emulations of the Heath H19, Digital VT102, or IBM 3278-{2,3,4,5} in 9, 12, 16, 24, and 36 point font sizes. Serial and MacTCP connections are supported (3270 emulation is available over MacTCP only; a similar ASCII interface is supported with a Heath-19 terminal emulation through the IBM 7171). As of yet the Comm Toolbox is not supported. Comet supports macros and macro recording. File transfer support is somewhat limited. Comet functions with standard UNIX vt102 termcaps and performs well with VMS on Digital mainframes also. The IBM emulations specifically support the extended character set used by the NOTIS library card catalog system; The most current version of Comet is available on FTP.CIT.CORNELL.EDU in the directory "/pub/mac/comm/" The complete Comet package (including documentation and the IBM host file transfer and 7171 support files) is available in "/pub/mac/comm/cometExternal/" The most current development version is available in "/pub/mac/comm/test/" -- Kevin Eric Saunders (a/k/a bonze blayk!!), CometMonger Cornell Information Technologies/Network Resources Internet: kes1@cornell.edu Phone: 607-255-0525 Mail: B52A Caldwell Hall, Cornell U., Ithaca, NY 14853 .
