Defying Crackdown, Pakistanis Begin Protest March

In other news from Pakistan, opposition activists are vowing to
intensify protests despite a heavy government crackdown. The Pakistani
government banned public gatherings in two key provinces and jailed
hundreds of people ahead of a protest against President Asif Ali
Zardari. On Thursday, demonstrators began a march from the city of
Karachi to Islamabad to demand the reinstatement of several dismissed
judges.
