Democratic Senators Urge Probe into Transocean Dividends

A group of Democratic senators, meanwhile, are calling for a probe into
recent shareholder payouts by the Swiss company operating the oil rig
that exploded before the spill. The company, Transocean, recently
approved $1 billion in shareholder dividends. The senators want the
Justice Department to probe whether the payments are legitimate when the
company might be facing financial liability for the spill. The eleven
victims of Transocean’s Deepwater Horizon rig explosion will be honored
today at a memorial service in Jackson, Mississippi.
