May 11, 2011 Senate Dems Call for Repealing Oil Company Tax Breaks ------------------------------------------------------ Senate Democrats have unveiled a plan to eliminate $21 billion in tax breaks for the nation's five largest oil corporations. The proposal was launched to counter Republican-led efforts to slash government spending in the name of reducing deficits. In announcing the measure, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada also endorsed a call for an equal amount of spending cuts and new taxes for the first time. .
