Eight U.S. Troops Die in Afghanistan

In Afghanistan, eight U.S. troops died Thursday when they were hit by
two different explosions while on foot patrol in Kandahar province.
Meanwhile, the House of Representatives came close Thursday to passing a
measure to speed up the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan. The vote
was 215 to 204, with 178 Democrats and 26 Republicans supporting the
measure.
