Supreme Court to Weight Affirmative Action Challenge

The Supreme Court has agreed to hear what could mark a major challenge
to affirmative action. The case was brought by a white student who says
she was rejected from the University of Texas because of her ethnicity.
The challenge could lead to the reversal of an earlier decision that
allowed public colleges and universities to consider race in order to
improve diversity. The 2003 ruling banned the use of point systems, but
allowed for less direct methods of affirmative action.
