U.N.: Up to 700,000 Refugees May Flee Syria

The United Nations refugee agency is warning up to 700,000 refugees
could flee Syria by the end of the year amidst mounting violence between
the government of President Bashar al-Assad and rebels opposed to his
regime. The U.N.’s new forecast is nearly quadruple the previous
estimate from June. Hundreds of thousands of refugees have already fled
into neighboring countries including Turkey and Lebanon during the
18-month conflict.
