August 29, 2013 Fast-Food, Retail Workers Stage Largest Strike to Date ------------------------------------------------------- Thousands of low-wage workers at fast food and retail chains nationwide are walking off the job today in what organizers call the largest strike of its kind so far. Workers in some 58 cities are taking part in a pre-Labor Day action for a living wage of $15 an hour and the right to unionize. They plant to picket outside major chains, including Mc Donald's, Burger King, KFC, and Macy's. The walkouts follow a series of actions that began last November at fast food restaurants in New York City. A number of states are seeing fast-food strikes for the first time since the campaign began, including California and scores across the South. .
