U.S. Signs Deal to Build Drone Base in Niger

The Obama administration has formally signed an agreement with Niger
allowing a permanent U.S. military site in the African country. Reports
emerged this week that the United States will build a base in Niger from
which to fly drones for surveillance and potentially even missile
strikes. Niger borders Mali, where the United States is aiding a
French-led military operation in the country’s north.
