July 2, 2013 Media Giant Tribune to Buy 19 Local TV Stations ------------------------------------------------ The newspaper company Tribune will pay nearly three billion dollars to purchase 19 local television stations, giving it one of the largest holdings of local TV affiliates in the country. Tribune, which owns the Los Angeles Times and Chicago Tribune, has been seeking to sell off its newspapers since emerging from bankruptcy in recent months.
