March 5, 2013 Attorneys: Gitmo Prisoners on 3-Week Hunger Strike --------------------------------------------------- Defense attorneys for a group of prisoners at Guantánamo Bay have revealed their clients have been on a hunger strike for more than three weeks. In a letter to the U.S. military, the Center for Constitutional Rights and several detainees' lawyers say the prisoners have refused meals over ongoing humiliations and arbitrary searches. Warning the hunger strike is "endangering lives and health," the letter concludes: "This administration should be far beyond such cruelties, particularly given how many of the men still trapped there have been unanimously cleared for transfer." .
