Puerto Rico: Thousands of Public Workers Protest Austerity Plan

In Puerto Rico, thousands of public sector workers protested Friday
against an austerity plan proposed to address the commonwealth's debt
crisis. The plan would raise the tuition at University of Puerto Rico,
contract for-profit companies to run public roads and ports, and freeze
collective bargaining agreements. In return, the plan calls for debt
restructuring that would require hedge funds and other creditors to
voluntarily accept reduced payments.
