Senate Confirms Conservative Big Oil Defender to Lifetime Judgeship

The Republican-controlled Senate confirmed Daniel Collins to a lifetime
seat on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals Tuesday. Collins has defended
Big Oil companies like Shell and Occidental Petroleum against
communities impacted by fossil fuel extraction and the effects of
climate change. He has also refused to say whether the landmark Brown v.
Board of Education ruling was correctly decided, and has filed briefs
supporting the restriction of access to contraceptives through health
insurance.
