Trump Admin Rolls Back Safety Regulations for Offshore Drilling

Interior Secretary David Bernhardt has announced plans to roll back a
number of safety regulations on offshore drilling put in place after the
deadly 2010 Deepwater Horizon explosion in the Gulf of Mexico caused the
worst oil spill in U.S. history. The chief oil lobbying group-the
American Petroleum Institute-pushed to weaken the safety regulations.
The move is expected to save the oil industry over $800 million over 10
years. Bernhardt is a former oil lobbyist.
