New Jobs Figures Show 42.6 Million U.S. Workers Filed for Unemployment During Pandemic

The U.S. Labor Department has just released its latest unemployment
numbers: 1.9 million Americans applied for unemployment benefits last
week; 42.6 million U.S. workers have filed claims since the start of the
pandemic. Meanwhile, a study by Bloomberg News finds the U.S. Treasury
has failed to pay out a staggering $67 billion in unemployment benefits
during the pandemic - about one-third of all the money owed to jobless
Americans.
