Chinese Coal Consumption Hits Record High as Temperatures Soar

In China, a series of unrelenting heat waves has created a soaring
demand for electricity, leading to unprecedented amounts of coal
consumption at China's more than 1,000 coal-fired power plants. This
comes after the Chinese government approved a record-breaking 86
gigawatts of new coal-fired power capacity last year.
