World Records Highest-Ever Average Global Temperature

Tuesday, July 4, was the hottest day ever recorded, with the average
global temperature reaching 62.92 degrees Fahrenheit, according to data
from the U.S. National Centers for Environmental Prediction. The
previous record of 62.62 degrees was reached one day earlier, Monday, as
heat waves scorch multiple regions across the globe. Here in the U.S.,
millions of people have been under excessive heat warnings in the south
and west of the country. Meanwhile, wildfire smoke from Canada continues
to plague large sections of the U.S. Wildfires are also burning in
Colorado and Washington state.
